How long can they hold out?

June 19, 2023
For people who complain endlessly about "cancel culture," the MAGA bobbleheads sure enjoy shunning anyone and anything they think betrayed their bigoted beliefs. Which constitutes a surprisingly large number of people, products and companies.
For instance, a boycott was declared against NASCAR in 2020 after the organization banned the Confederate flag from its events. And when the clothing company Carhartt required employees to get vaccinated during the COVID-19 pandemic, many conservatives burned their Carhartt clothes and called for a boycott. Plus, only last summer, MAGAs were boycotting Walmart because the chain went “woke” and stopped carrying Mike Lindell’s stupid pillow.
In April, Bud Light beer partnered with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney to encourage customers to enter a promotional contest. And MAGA lost its collective mind. Has-been musician Kid Rock posted a video of himself firing an assault rifle at cases of the beverage. Country music's Travis Tritt said he was banning the brand from his tour. And Anheuser-Busch, Bud Light's parent company, received threats that bombs had been placed at various company locations.
But this year's Pride Month, celebrating the LGBTQ community, seems to have especially triggered the Magadonians. Walmart is once again being boycotted, this time for its Pride & Joy collection of gender-inclusive t-shirts, accessories and home decor. Facing threats for prominently displaying Pride-themed merchandise, Target moved those items to the back of its stores. Kohl's was also subjected to the hate campaign, but unlike Target decided to stand by its Pride merch.
Upon discovering the company's tolerance of the hated gays, conservative commentators are even calling for Fox News to be boycotted. Fumed outraged pundit Matt Walsh, "Fox Corp is celebrating Pride."
Then there's Chick-fil-A, the fast food chicken sandwich purveyor beloved by right-wingers for its public anti-gay marriage stance. That is, until they learned the company had a vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion (all of which are anathema to MAGA). Calls to embargo the franchise ensued.
Companies boycotted over their criticism of Georgia's racist anti-voter laws include Citigroup, Merck and Home Depot, as well as Georgia-based Delta Airlines, ViaComCBS and Coca Cola. And in recent years, Keurig coffee makers, Kellogg's cereal, M&Ms, Oreo cookies and Cracker Barrel restaurants have all been the targets of anti-woke boycotts. In Cracker Barrel's case, because (among other sins) they posted online a picture of a rainbow-colored rocking chair.
But all this boycotting creates a real problem for the maniacs of MAGAland. Without beer, clothing, high-calorie snacks, Walmart, Fox and fried chicken, how are these people ever going to survive?

Jordan Reverses Himself and Will Push for a Third Speaker Vote
Here is the recap-
Republicans, continuing their tradition of playing stupid games and being shocked when they win stupid prizes, kicked Kevin McCarthy out of his post of Speaker of the House.
For context, Kevin McCarthy had a fucking awful time getting the job back in January, needing like 15 tries and a bunch of stupid placating and bootlicking the MAGA nuts. An incredible moment in US history. So many memes. Republicans almost getting into fist fights on the floor on the House. Embarrassing Chaos. and they STILL FUCKING KICKED MCCARTHY OUT. AFTER ALL THAT. (Probably because he compromised with Democrats to temporarily fund the government while they argued about the budget) Embarrassing.
They fire McCarthy with no backup plan. To be clear, this is intentional. The MAGA fuckers want to break the government. Also no one wants to be Speaker. It's an awful job.
Ok, so then they have to decide who will be the new speaker. Trump suggests Jim Jordan. There is a secret republican ballot. Jordan loses to some other guy (Scalise.) Ha.
Once it's time for the real vote (with the democrats and all)- unity shatters and Scalise can't carry the vote. He says he doesn't want it anymore.
So fine, Jim Jordan. Let's go.
He loses.
A bunch of Republicans hate him. He is suuuuper implicated in Jan 6 and is a scumbag.
He tries again.
He loses. Again. Worse than the first time. Hilarious. Humiliating.
Everyone is like "not this shit again. Can we just let the temporary speaker be the speaker until January so the House can like...function while the Republicans figure their shit out?"
Jim Jordan says he'll go along with this plan on TV. Because publically losing the Speaker vote multiple times is humiliating.
The MAGAs loose their FUCKING MINDS because this was a Democrat idea so its BAD. How DARE YOU WE JUST FIRED MCARTHY FOR COMPROMISING WITH THE DEMS.
Jim Jordan says FINE, I take it back. I'll try again.
We don't have a third vote scheduled.
It'd be funnier if the clowns weren't running OUR circus, ya know?

Never have I actually felt hatred towards America, not once in over 40 years. I've been angry, disappointed, frustrated and sad, but today I hate America. I hate the mindblowing stupidity, the lack of education, the elector system, the gerrymandering, the out of control guns, the religious nut jobs, the way you line up to screw yourselves over because you simply can't resist the charm of being addressed by a wannabe dictator. I despise the fact that so many of you fail to realise the consequences of this election and how you can't just leave all the international commitments and deals without fucking things up for everyone involved. I hate the short sight, your lack of decency, your gullibility, self-centrered ignorans and how willingly you're ready to sacrifice the lives of innocent people just because you're incapable of seeing reason. You just elected a criminal, sexual abuser who openly talks about how he wants to dismantle your democracy. He's bragging about committing crimes, cosies up to dictators - who don't respect him one bit, they just see him as a gullible moron - and has shown time and again how he's willing to sacrifice anything to make himself feel powerful. And no, you don't get to tell the rest of the world how your election is none of our business, not when we live in a world where international relations, trades and cooperations are the norm. I hate how so many of you are ready to sacrifice Ukraine, the climate, your own school children, pregnant people etc. because you've made MAGA your identity. You just elected a wannabe dictator like it was a popularity contest in some bad comedy, without giving a single fuck about what it might cost not just you, but the rest of the world. You just elected a man who openly admires dictators and praises those who're on the verge of becoming dictators. What's wrong with you? Are you all so thrilled about the prospect of women dying due to fear of seeking help during a miscarriage? Does it make you happy, knowing that when a country actually ASKS for your help, you turn your backs on them? You are an embarressment for the free world and all I hope now, is for the ramifications to hit those of you who voted for him the hardest - along with those of you who threw the opportunity of voting away because Harris wasn't good enough. You just elected a man who praised Hitler and somehow this has become normal. And for that, at least for a while, I hate every single one of you who made this normal, no matter your reason. Because none of them are good enough for this monstrocity of an election.

OLD MACDONALD BOUGHT THE FARM: "Barking and meowing" by students is being banned in a hysterical panic by another ignorant Florida school board. How long are we gonna put up with this insidious nonsense?
I've had it. These nutcases are about to regulate onomatopoeia in elementary school. Don't laugh - it's hiding something ominous, and it's deliberate.
First: If you're in the furry fandom - as I've been for 26 years (longer than the average fur has been alive these days) - TAKE THIS SHIT SERIOUSLY.
If they're actually banning K-12 school age kids from wearing anything animal-themed (yeah, it's that broad) and restricting the sounds they can utter for Christ's sake, you can be sure that the wild-eyed crazeballs chick who runs LibsOfTikTok and singlehandedly caused the wave of library closings over the mere existence of LGBTQ+ characters in books - to the extent that the State of Missouri legislature has defunded the entire statewide public library system! - already has her sights trained on Midwest FurFest, and the lunatics who closed down Boston Children's Hospital with bomb threats are already booking flights to bring the Nazis-with-guns to every furry convention in America by the end of this year, AND IF YOU DON'T GET WITH THE PROGRAM THEY'RE GOING TO BLOW YOUR oWo uWu ASSES OFF!
Enough dicking around, my fellow furballs. You know what to do.
Here's what I posted to Reddit last night - piss-poor metrics for my posts about the Wile E. Coyote anvils over our heads, but my groaners in the r/3amjokes and r/dadjokes subs get 35,000 views. Go figure.
In the meantime, read, heed, and reblog like your life depends on it, because it does:
---
You may laugh at first glance, or shake your head at "Florida again" - but it's a stalking horse for their next milestone: banning student behavior and appearance that to the MAGAs and right-wing nut jobs carries even a *hint* of LGBTQ+, and then - say it with me -
Identifying students who are mature enough to have come out as LGBTQ+ fully or in part (friends, family); those who are known to be "questioning" and on their way to coming out; those who are beginning to identify as other than heterosexual or show "tendencies" or "predelictions", and students too young to be self-aware in those ways but are seen as suspect by teachers and administrators - and then, gradually at first, then quickly and deliberately separating, isolating, and ultimately barring them from access to public education.
Kentucky has said it out loud just this week, clearly, plainly, with no room for ambiguity: "It's time to eliminate 'transes' from our schools."
If you're still on the fence about getting involved with activism and protests to put this movement down for good before it becomes too big to stop - and we still have time to stop it and crush it - do you think they'll stop after just banning kids?
You don't need to have psychic powers or a crystal ball to see what's heading our way. Soon.
You can choose to do nothing - or you can choose to act. One or the other. Simple, plain, clear.
Joni Mitchell once sang, "it all comes down to you," and she was right, of course, but if you listened closely, her meaning was clear then, and applies now - one choice will save you, the other will not.
Only one of these choices has the potential to turn the tide, the clearly visible, quickening, rising tide that's got crazy Jesus in its eyes and a list with your name on it.
I cannot choose for you, of course. No one can.
Last time I looked, this was still a free country.
But if you do not make the right choice - *you*, Constant Stranger, she sang - no one will be able to save you, or us. And the choice is upon us, sooner than we thought, and now.
Time to choose.
#i'll be watching#get with the program#grandpa mutt has seen this before#but i'm just a 61-year-old pup player with AIDS#so go ahead have your fun with me kiddies#you really have no idea what's coming and it's pissing me off now#hey @commonpigeon this is how I'm spending my declining years#hey @baradragon brigade this and stick it up your top 100#and all you kids think i forgot... hey @thyrell#hey @thyrell - doing well? i can tell by the smell! Friends,
Many of you are still in shock about what happened a week ago today. Some of you don’t even want to read a newspaper or hear the news.
I get it.
A few of you are coping with the catastrophe by minimizing or denying it. Several friends assure me that a second Trump term won’t be much different from the first and that the checks and balances in our system will continue to constrain him.
This is wishful and dangerous thinking.
Trump and his Republican lapdogs will almost certainly win the House, which means that starting January 20, they will take full control of the federal government — both chambers of Congress as well as the presidency.
The Republicans soon to be in control of Congress are more MAGA, less principled, and more intimidated by Trump than the Republicans who had control when Trump took office in 2017. There are no Liz Cheneys in the House, no Mitt Romneys in the Senate. Republican senators seeking to become the majority leader are already competing to please Trump, promising immediate confirmation of his appointments.
The Republican Party as a whole has now been effectively purged of people willing to stand up to Trump.
Trump already has effective control of the Supreme Court, a majority of whom have ruled that he (or any president) is presumptively immune from criminal liability for whatever he chooses to do.
This time, moreover, there won’t be people in the administration to stop him. Trump learned from his first term about the importance of surrounding himself with lackeys who will do whatever he wishes.
His early picks (Susie Wiles as chief of staff, Stephen Miller as deputy chief of staff, Thomas Homan as border czar, Lee Zeldin as EPA administrator, Elise Stefanik as ambassador to the U.N., and Michael Walz as national security advisor) have only one thing in common and it’s not their expertise. It’s their unblinking loyalty to Trump.
Don’t get me started about Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, who has turned his X platform into a swamp of Trump lies and propaganda, and now seems joined at the hip to Trump — appearing wherever Trump is. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a nut job.
And unlike Trump’s first term, the president-elect is now backed by a network of dangerous extremists — including those who have been imprisoned for their part in the attack on the U.S. Capitol, whom Trump has suggested he’ll pardon. They will feel emboldened to carry out what they understand to be Trump’s wishes.
Finally, also unlike before his first term, Trump has explicitly told us what he plans to do and already has people working on getting it done starting January 20: mass deportations, prosecution of his political enemies, the use of the military against U.S. citizens, the purging of the civil service across the government and substitution of Trump loyalists, and a promise to play politics with disasters.
Project 2025, which was written by more than 140 people who served under Trump the first time around, including several of his former Cabinet secretaries, explicitly calls for “abortion surveillance” and the stripping from Americans of reproductive freedom (page 455).
It also calls for jailing teachers and librarians over banned books (page 5), gutting of overtime pay rules (pages 587 and 592), and prioritizing “married men and women” over other types of families (page 489).
To enforce these attacks on our rights, Project 2025 would use the Justice Department to prosecute district attorneys Trump disagrees with, invoke the Insurrection Act to shut down protests, and mobilize red-state national guard units against blue states that resist his authoritarian agenda.
In sum, my friends, we are facing a catastrophe far worse than what occurred in Trump’s first term of office. The meager guardrails that existed then will be gone.
We must not avert our eyes from this calamity, or minimize it, or throw up our hands in despair or retreat.
We must prepare to fight it.
But how? Let me ask you: If this were Germany in 1933, what actions would you take? How different will this be from Germany in 1933?
I put this question to some of you last Wednesday during my weekly Office Hours. Forty percent said your most important goal will be to protect those in harm’s way, and 34 percent said it will be to organize and mobilize politically. Of the remainder, 9 percent said it will be to resist with civil disobedience. (Others had additional or different ideas.)
Obviously, none of these alternatives is exclusive. We must consider all, and many others.
Protecting the vulnerable and preserving our rights and liberties will require a great deal of hard work by people who believe in our Constitution, democracy, and the rule of law. The work includes:
Monitoring Trump and his government — despite the disinformation, propaganda, and lies we’ll be receiving — and disseminating the truth.
Maintaining a watch over the people and institutions we value.
Being ready to sound the alarm in our communities and networks when those people and institutions are under assault.
Organizing and mobilizing nonviolent resistance to such assaults.
Using civil disobedience wherever possible.
Litigating through state and federal courts where possible.
Speaking out against malicious lies like those that spread during the election by Elon Musk on his propaganda machine X and against vicious lies amplified on other MAGA mouthpieces.
Using our economic muscle to boycott corporations that support Trump, Musk, and other centers of MAGA power.
And much more.
It will be up to us — the American people who still cherish democracy — to protect and preserve our system of self-government.
As difficult as it is to fully accept what we are up against, the first step is to acknowledge it.

It proves the media can go either way for a price I think and biased journalists are dangerous. I am so pissed off rn. Disney did nothing to protect Rachel at any point but they act as if being a Zionist is the most dangerous protected class. Rachel had people at her HOME coming for her. Gal is a trained soldier and rich af she could get her own security and if there were actual threats to her children then sure by all means. But why not extend that same energy to Rachel? Who has Elon Musk arguably the most powerful person in her country atm tweeting about how she’s mean. Like that man wormed himself into the presidency he could tell people on twitter anything and the cult would listen idk I think Disney failed her and now the movie isn’t making 300+ million back they’ve turned to smearing her
Both President Musk and his flunky trump called out Rachel by name & posted about her after the election.
If it was on Jeopardy! the correct answer would be
"How do you set up a young woman to be beat or killed by your crazy-ass followers?"
I am glad she's going to England. I know there are crazy right wing nut jobs there, too. But I expect they pale in comparison to the bunch who attacked our Capitol on January 6th 2021. Fyi- that's the type musk/trump rile up, along with the crazy bastards writing manifestos. The ones sitting in dark rooms planning how they will kidnap that pretty young girl with the big mouth. The ones who already have a legal arsenal that they enhance whenever they can.
MAGA WORLD SUCKS. IT IS A DANGEROUS PLACE FOR SOMEONE SINGLED OUT BY THE LEADERS OF HATE.
I just want Rachel to be safe, happy, & doing the work she loves.
Her performing on stage where the audience are going to be people specifically there to support her and the cast is going to be a better move for her and in another country it just makes it better for the time being. I’ll miss seeing her in things bc I live in Australia and can’t go to Europe on a whim but I’m happy she’s making the right career moves for herself

EmoMuskrat at it again
… Elon Musk retaliated against Laura Loomer and other MAGA activists late last night after they spent the entire day roasting him and Vivek Ramaswamy after they said more immigration should be allowed for foreign workers/students in the tech industry.
… Essentially, their message was that there just aren’t enough smart Americans who have the work ethic to satisfy the Tech Bros, so those migrants should be allowed to come into the country to work for them while we mass deport the others who are working in the construction, agriculture, food processing and hospitality industries, where they fill jobs many Americans don’t want to do for low to modest wages.
… But Vivek took things even a step further than Musk, which further infuriated them, by blaming American culture for the Tech Bro’s labor shortage: “Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long (at least since the 90s and likely longer). That doesn’t start in college, it starts YOUNG. A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers.”
… Some of MAGA may have been with him up to this point, but then Vivek went too far: “A culture that venerates Cory from ‘Boy Meets World,’ or Zach & Slater over Screech in ‘Saved by the Bell,’ or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in ‘Family Matters,’ will not produce the best engineers.”
… Now he’s talking in a language they can understand, and they aren’t liking what they are hearing.
… But he wasn’t done: “I know multiple sets of immigrant parents in the 90s who actively limited how much their kids could watch those TV shows precisely because they promoted mediocrity…and their kids went on to become wildly successful STEM graduates. More movies like Whiplash, fewer reruns of ‘Friends.’ More math tutoring, fewer sleepovers. More weekend science competitions, fewer Saturday morning cartoons. More books, less TV. More creating, less “chillin.” More extracurriculars, less “hanging out at the mall.”
… Talk about smacking a MAGA hornet’s nest with a baseball bat.
… I knew right away as soon as I read it that Vivek was in deep trouble at that point, but apparently Vivek couldn’t figure that out. Probably why he couldn’t get out of the Iowa Caucus.
… Some really big right-wing social media influencers went nuts. Small ones too. Elon and Vivek were hammered all day and night by their new friends. The Vivek post drew 35,000 replies from irate right-wingers.
… Finally, right around midnight, the petulant child who bought X removed dozens of blue checks from his MAGA critics’ accounts, notified everyone that he was changing the algorithm to suppress their engagement, and removed their ability to get subscriptions from users.
… In other words, all the things they loved about him he took away from them because they were mean to him.
… For some reason, legacy media almost completely ignored this story. I guess MAGA activists close to Trump with millions of followers attacking Elon Musk and Vivek wasn’t an important story for them. But we were on stop of this every step of the way for the past 36 hours straight. I would like to thank every one of you who is able to help us do that so we don’t have to work for the Oligarchs or Tech Bros!

I seriously doubt I have any followers who support Donald Trump (and if I do, what the hell are you doing here?), but I have a question for them - If you support DJT what specific policies do you support? Don't spout "MAGA" dogma at me, I'm asking for official policy statements. I don't care if you repeat things from "Project 2025", I'd except that, but I want specifics.
And before anyone starts here are two policy stances of Vice President Harris that I support: - Continued support for NATO and Ukraine - Body autonomy for all
There's a bunch of other stuff I could obviously throw in (including ending that fascist nut job Trump's political career (and least you think I'm being glib, Trump called for the government to revoke CBS broadcast license gift link))
#harris walz 2024#this blog is pro-choice#this blog supports LBGTQ+#this blog is pro-NATO#slava ukraini#fuck trump#fuck vance#if you want to support trump defend it#because other than “he pisses off the right people”#and “i'd like to live in a dictatorship”#there's not much there

From a certain angle Taylor and Travis really are a match made in hell right now:
- both live for money and fame to an unhealthy degree,
- morally bankrupt,
- not willing to stand up for much,
- dead narcissistic empty eyes,
- willing to platform and have kind words for abusers of any kind and MAGA nut jobs,
- phony families up for the ride.
They can bond over all of this.
I will never stop loving this

Well, anon, I envy you because I live in a very red state, and I have several friends and family members who are die-hard Republicans. And some have actually drunk the Trump Kool Aid. Are there some I have cut ties with.....yes. Are there some that I still have hope will see the light? Yes. Because the few I have cut off aren't necessarily evil people, but they are very uneducated and ignorant people and have swallowed the Kool Aid. But, there are some that are just super loyal to the Republican Party....the are good decent people who are open to having discussions about things. These are the people that we need to talk to to make them understand and realize that remaining loyal to a party that does not even recognize itself is not being disloyal to their belief system. And I hate to tell people this, but we need as many of those people on our side as we can get to pull this election off. We need a landslide win if we do not want to see another attempted coup.
Oh most def agree with republicans and MAGA nut jobs. I don’t view them as the same.

The far cry 5 confused me, like ever played Assassin Creed 3? Like they did a good job showing the difference between American ideals vs what Congress did.
Like they outed George Washington historical orders to burn down native villages during the Seven Years War and how Congress screwed over the natives after the revolution
But like there was a subset of side quests called the Homestead missions, that showed the American dream. People from different walks of life coming together to make something different, something better, second chances and such.
And journalists was surprised that the normal town folks wasn’t racist to you if your character was non white? I mean, they would be weary of you regardless of race or gender as you are a Marshall so still an outside. Also one of the first marketing for 5 had a black priest show he getting armed to protect his town from the cult
But…the game humanized American townsfolk better than Hollywood been doing for the past decade.
Like a parade of American gun control…despite a French Canadian company executing our ideas better our own entertainment industry.
When you have a chance can you answer this anon? I’m a black American and I thought they did it well.
I've played Assassin's Creed 3 and I didn't really like it, but AC3 really doesn't have anything to do with my point about Far Cry 5 other than providing more evidence of Ubisoft's political leanings.
Ubisoft is a French company run and staffed by mostly left wing people. When they make political statements in their work, those statements are always pushing the left wing side of an issue. Far Cry 5 is very clearly supposed to be a game making fun of rural, religious life and American gun culture. They have two different characters who are large parts of the story who exist solely to make fun of Southern Americans, one of whom is a blatant MAGA stand in. The other is that character's son, a stereotypical stupid redneck who only gets some character development beyond that when he starts going against his father's beliefs. The bad guys are all white and religious and mostly male, while the good guys are multicultural with a lot of female characters. The main character is a federal Marshall and it's that main character who is the catalyst for the good guys finally pushing back the cult. It's not too difficult to see the message there being something along the lines of "rural prepper types who pride themselves on being self-sufficient need the government's help to protect themselves". The intent with Far Cry 5 was very clearly, at least in part, to mock "right wing" ideals and American rural culture.
But what they actually ended up doing was writing a love letter to those ideals and that culture. They ended up portraying most rural folk as accepting and competent people who just want to be left alone to live their lives, and who will do the right thing when they come up against a difficult situation. They ended up illustrating why the second amendment is so important by showing how an armed populace is necessary for fighting against tyranny when the police/government/etc can't, or won't. And yes this tyranny was a cult and not the government, but the point still stands. The fact that Ubisoft ended up "executing our ideas better our own entertainment industry" was by accident because they really don't understand the issues they're commenting on. They're a bunch of left wing French people who have never experienced rural American right wing culture trying to portray that culture from within their own left wing echo chamber, while also needing to tone down the political commentary to sell a video game to the very people they're trying to mock. But even the mockery that does get through ends up backfiring when the metanarrative overrides the written narrative. They focus so hard on making their bad guys out to be right wing religious nuts that they don't realize they're making their good guys out to be a much more numerous population of normal right leaning people fighting back against the extremism on "their" side.
