Yeah, I could just give the AAHW rodents fur patterns, but I think it’s funnier if they have little suits on. This should also serve as a good size comparison for the Mag Rats.

Also the Auditor is normal in this AU, but he shapeshifts into a snake figure frequently as well. I thought it would be fitting when dealing with an infestation of mice you caused.

Also the first time I tried using a pen for my traditional art, I thought it turned out real nice!

MAGs are actually extremely intelligent, and some MAGs (V3, V4, V5, Torture) were high ranking AAHW officials. They just don't say much when fighting because they don't need to.

Identification of diverse antibiotic resistant bacteria in agricultural soil with H218O stable isotope probing and metagenomics

Background: In this study, we aimed to identify bacteria able to grow in the presence of several antibiotics including the ultra-broad-spectrum antibiotic meropenem in a British agricultural soil, by combining DNA stable isotope probing (SIP) with high throughput sequencing. Soil was incubated with cefotaxime, meropenem, ciprofloxacin and trimethoprim in 18O-water. Metagenomes and the V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene from the labelled "heavy" and the unlabelled "light" SIP fractions were sequenced. Results: After incubations, an increase of the 16S rRNA copy numbers in the "heavy" fractions of the treatments with 18O-water compared with their controls was detected. The treatments resulted in differences in the community composition of bacteria. Members of the phyla Acidobacteriota (formally Acidobacteria) are highly abundant after two days of incubation with antibiotics. Several Pseudomonadota (formally Proteobacteria) including Stenotrophomonas were prominent after four days of incubation. Furthermore, a metagenome-assembled genome (MAG-1) from the genus Stenotrophomonas (90.7% complete) was retrieved from the heavy fraction. Finally, 11 antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs) were identified in the unbinned-assembled heavy fractions, and 10 ARGs were identified in MAG-1. On the other hand, only two ARGs from the unbinned-assembled light fractions were identified. Conclusions: The results indicate that both non-pathogenic soil- dwelling bacteria as well as potential clinical pathogens are present in this agricultural soil, and several ARGs were identified from the labelled communities, but it is still unclear if horizontal gene transfer between these groups can occur. http://dlvr.it/ShPyMW

A song inspired by a kundiman song called Ako’y Iniwan Mo.

“The song [Ako’y Iniwan Mo] is about a woman who is left behind by her lover for another woman. And halfway through the song there is a spoken word section where it’s a letter by the unfaithful dude and it’s like telling the listener to feel bad for the guy and probably forgive him. I find it weird why a song would wants us to empathize/sympathize with a cheater and i've come to the conclusion it's probably due to the composer’s roman catholic values, forgiveness and all, the thought irritated me a bit so i’ve decided to make a tagalog song where the opposite happens and have a bloody ending”

To go further in depth with Steampianist’s song, it starts with a woman saying her woes after acknowledging her partner’s cheating. Asking why her lover had commited such acts. A similar start from the story of the song it was inspired from that was mentioned (Ako’y Iniwan Mo). However, instead of forgiving her cheating lover, Steampianist introduced a twist. The woman in the story did not forgive the man, but instead she experienced a descent into insanity as the song progressed, which ended up in her getting rid of him instead. Because her lover killed her trust, she decided to kill him as well. It is described in the song that the cheating partner was brutally killed and dismembered, blood splattering everywhere as it was done. Then in the end, he was stored in a bahay kubo, while the woman continued her life in the next. It truly is an artistic song that expresses devastation, devotion, passion, and revenge.

◇ WHY ◇

Let’s start with my discovery.

I always found the vocaloid genre of songs interesting. I used to listen to them back in the day, such as the classics like ‘world is mine’ or ‘servant of evil’. With this as one of the music genres I still listen to from time to time, the algorithm of the applications I use to listen to music would pick this up. Ergo, the discovery of a new song through recommendation.

I was scrolling through youtube when I saw this song in my recommendations. I figured it was a simple filipino song considering the name ‘Carinosa’ a filipino dance. Only to be surprised at the discovery of a vocaloid filipino song. To have another filipino song be sung by a japanese voicebank was really lovely to witness.

I already witnessed another Filipino vocaloid song before,but I never really researched if there were more creators. I then decided to research to see if I could find other vocaloid creators that use Filipino lyrics, and indeed I found. To have a large group of Filipino creators in the vocaloid community was lovely and also great representation.

Now, for the reason why I chose this song.

My answer is simple: Wow, I really like how this scratches my ear’s music itch” but I’ll go even in depth.

To start, I’ll talk about the song itself. I really loved the instrumental of the song. The mixture of the classic folk dance Carinosa along with the different elements of the song (such as other added strings, drums, and castanetas) really brought out the song’s charm and drama. Although the vocals are abit soft, it adds to the song’s sway and eeriness. Though I also love the vocaloid-like pronunciation of the voicebank GUMI as she sings in Tagalog, it really gives a reminder that this is indeed a vocaloid song.

Now, about the story. I recall that when I first heard of this song, I didn’t pay much attention to the lyrics. Although I did pick up on the verses and I figured it was a song about heartbreak. Only to slowly feel suspicious over the lyrics seemingly getting stranger, then to feel shock at the very bridge. I really fell in love with the dark twist, and even more when I figured out the reason for why. I always thought people who are impure hearted and horrible never deserved forgiveness, and to have that shown in the song (albeit gruesome) really spoke volumes to me.

Then there’s the visuals. The art was beautifully made, and the designs of the characters, elements, and background was excellent. The simple animation quite gave off a paper puppet vibe to the presentation, which I found neat. The symbolism of the Carinosa dance’s meaning and how it was shown in the video. How I interpreted it: The silhouetted partner dances with the lady (signifies a partnership) but also leaves from time to time throughout the dance (committing an affair). Leaving the woman to dance by herself, till she decides to dance by herself with the choice that she made( (getting rid of him).

I also appreciate the symbolism of the lover’s eye that accompanies the character and her emotions. A comment I found from the very video comment section explained it wonderfully.
