Hell 'N Back

Another psuedo song fic, this Zagreus x Thanatos wip is inspired by Hell 'N Back by Bakar. Specifically, the line 'She liked petty crimes, she had green eyes, like mountain dew.' Because first off, that's a fucking awesome line. Secondly, Zagreus has one green eye and as we all know is prone to a little bit of crime here and there. This one I planned on being a little more angsty, going into Thanatos' misunderstanding on why Zagreus is trying to escape, and his insecurities on whether Zagreus is trying to abandon him for a 'better life'. I also thought that the song title went perfectly with the rouge like style of the game, where Zagreus is constantly going through hell and back.

The blurb from my doc:

For someone who could be considered a minor god, Zagreus died a lot. 

The feel of the bloody water engulfing him and washing him home had become a common occurrence, but one he doubted he would get used to. Not that he would tell anyone that. Sometimes he was injured so badly that he didn’t wake up until he was inches away from home, but today he held on to consciousness, shuddering at the red hands touching his skin as he flowed past. 

Damn Theseus. It was always fifty fifty with that stubborn bastard. Always jeering and taunting him, flaunting the most recent boon granted to him by the gods. As much as he disliked the man, that fight was always a good way to test his strength. If he couldn’t beat Theseus, he definitely couldn’t beat his father. 

Father. . .

No doubt his father would have a snarky remark to say when he returned. Blast him. 

He knew when he was home when he felt the water (blood?) level begin to drop, until he could finally feel his feet gently scrape the ground ever so slightly. He tilted forward, placing his feet on the ground and began to walk out of the river and up onto the steps leading into the house's main hallway. Zagreus shook his head just enough to remove the blood water from his eyes and walked in, tracking blood onto the carpet. 

“Oho! You’re back!”

Zagreus put on a smile. He didn’t have the energy for Hypnos at the moment, but he couldn’t be mad at him either, “Hello Hypnos.”

“Ooh got stabbed by Theseus there did you? Tough guy that one, have you tried y’know, dodging it? Also did you get Asterius’ autograph like I asked?” Hypnos blurted out, words almost running over each other in his excitement. 

“No, Hypnos, I haven’t tried dodging it! Thanks for the advice,” Zagreus said, voice dripping in sarcasm.

“Oh no worries! Yknow a guy like me in my job, you see a lot of death, see a lot of ways to avoid it too! Sad you didn’t get that autograph though.”

“Heh, yeah. Unfortunately not a lot of time to ask when you’re getting run over by a bull.”

He made his rounds about the house, ignoring his father's pointed insults, and visiting Achilles, Nyx, Meg and such. Visits completed, he made a beeline for his mirror, strengthening his powers before stepping out onto the training yard. He could feel Aegis calling to him, shimmering purple in a thirst for darkness. When he picked it up, he felt the presence of Chaos watching over him in interest and amusement, that telltale chuckle making the hair on the back of his neck stand up.

Been a while since I posted any art on here but here are some WIPs I'm working on!

Been trying to push for more full body poses and actually drawing proper clothing. Folds are hard but I'm happy with how these turned out so far.

The one with colors is my boy Rat, then Lochland who is part of another OCs backstory, and then my newest addition Maggot with his pet spooder.

WIP Not-Wednesday

I've been very eagerly waiting for Phantom Liberty to come out, and trying not to start a new file with Hiro until then, which means there probably won't be very many landscapes/ambiance pictures till that drops. I miss taking them but I really want to start fresh, especially with the new mechanics being teased.

I've also been working on little drabbles about Hiro, and his life before the events of 2077, I'd known vaguely what his timeline was, but never spent much time exploring it, and he changed a lot as a person. So I wanted to start writing scenes with him, and perhaps trying to photograph them someday--maybe doing comic strips or smething.

I've also been working on AU ideas--I still really want to do a horror AU with the brats, and find a way of photographing it, or at least making a pinterest board so there's something visual.

I've also been working on modding more, when I have the chance and managed to finally get the characters to actually look at each other, instead of into the distance, or owl themselves so they're trying to look at me the entire time. The next challenge is going to be getting crisp images. I'm using a 4k monitor so it should definitely be possible, but so far we're getting everything from fuzzy to grainy and not clean. So it'll definitely be a chance to experiment and see what works <3 It's also making me more comfortable with post-editing, even if it takes longer.

What could they be looking at? Who knows? 🤷‍♀️

Honestly I really need to get my teeth into this wip, I'm just so scared that I won't do my idea justice like this shit needs to be perfect and I know it'll never be perfect enough for me. 😭

The blurb from my doc:

GhostxSoap, Task force 141 goes on a camping trip as a way to destress and improve team morale. Early in the trip, Price pulls out a guitar to play music while they sit around the campfire late at night. There’s an unspoken agreement to not directly offer Ghost the guitar, because despite the trip he still seemed up tight and reserved. Ghost is in his more casual clothes, and is wearing the plain balaklava instead of the skull. Can’t decide if Soap should pass the guitar to Ghost one night, or if Ghost should grab it himself. Ghost reveals that he used to play when he was younger, which surprises everyone. He takes off his gloves to play, and plays ‘Until’ by Ira Gonzalez. The entire task force is completely enamoured, silent and watching in awe as he plays. Potential Soap pov where he notices Ghosts features in the firelight and falls head over heels. Potential for Ghost to play another song when it’s just Soap ‘Time in a Bottle’ by Jim Croce

Thoughts:

This fic came from thinking about ways for Ghost to be soft, and to counter his typical stereotypes. In this case, it's that he has a wonderful singing voice, and that he used to play guitar when he was younger. I want this fic to briefly address that while Ghost doesn't really put himself out there very much, the rest of the 141 (in this universe) don't really give him opportunities to do so either. They're not trying to be malicious per se, but I think they're definitely not putting in the effort to see behind the facade he's created. Ghost has feelings for Soap prior to him playing the guitar, and plays Until as a sort of hidden love confession for him. Either Soap doesn't realize he has feelings for Ghost at this point, or Soap develops feelings once he realizes that Ghost is multifaceted and that maybe, just maybe, Ghost was singing that for him. (Obviously I'm going to add in a healthy dose of ~Features looking amazing in the firelight~ and ~Simping for Ghosts massive incredible hands~)

I hope you like! This is definitely one I want to start writing for soon. I hate the thought of not posting a finished piece, but maybe I should let loose a bit and post some small blurbs and ideas for this fic.
