Revolution AU where Vander and Silco never divorced. The bridge riot was a disaster that only made them switch tactics. The Zaun dads parent the rat pack together (Vi, Powder/Jinx, Mylo, Claggor, maybe even Ekko). Vi, through various shenanigans, becomes a spy for the revolution. She heads to Piltover, only to run into another spy whose mission is to take Piltover down. A Noxian who has been stationed there for a few years now: Maddie Nolen.

Madvi just makes more sense to me than Caitvi. I think within Arcane itself Caitvi is really unhealthy and just generally toxic, and unless we see Caitlyn actually heal and/or get more reason as to why Vi chose Caitlyn over her own people, I just can't understand the appeal

Because an au which Maddie wasn't a plant (or at least not at first) and having both of them find each other after being hurt by Caitlyn's descent into militarism and abuse of power could fuck hard if done right. They were friends in arc 1, after all; they were in the strike team together! And it'd be nice to be able to really address the worst of Caitlyn's actions and force her to reckon with what she's done without sacrificing the mainstream sapphic rep that Arcane has

Maybe I'll elaborate more on this later but it's an idea. It'd take a lot of reworking of the source text though lol

REAL

The two best reasons to ship anything are:

1.Incredible, deep and detailed narrative themes. The parallels that seem to hit just right, the narrative foils that they can be to each other, the intricate dynamic that's both extremely complex and easily understood. The juxtaposition between something that's harsh and undoubtedly toxic, with the softer undertones, the parts where you read in-between the lines and find a mutual feeling of loneliness from both parts, their intrinsic understanding of each other comes from the mere fact that they're each others mirrored reflections and shadows. In the end both sides will be together forever, and you as an audience can clearly see their tragedy laid out before in a path that blurs pure anguish and tender romance

2.It would be so fucking funny

Maddie Nolen Headcanons (because she did, in fact, deserve more screen time)

Born and raised in Noxus

An orphan: was abandoned as a baby at the steps of an orphanage

Regularly stole, fought, and lied in order to survive even in the orphanage. Breaking into the kitchens for extra food and framing another kid for it, pickpocketing for coin, planting evidence for revenge- you name it. Maddie learned survival the hard way. Through pretty words and hiding knives behind her back.

But of course she's still a kid, so she gets caught by adults eventually

Instead of punishment, someone takes a shine to her. Decides she'll need a mentor

She gets sponsored to join the imperial academy, where they test children's aptitude and put them wherever they're best suited. Maddie's on track to be a spy within a week

One of her hobbies since childhood was mimicry. She can mock any accent, and is good at mirroring behaviors. This makes her a star student in spy-training.

Her non-region-specific appearance makes her perfect for subterfuge abroad. This and her accent means she blends in with Piltovans. When she graduates with high marks, that's the first long-term mission they send her on.

Vi is actually more her type than Caitlyn is. In fact, she was kind of bummed that she was Caitlyn's rebound instead

Her surname (Nolen) isn't her birth name. It's the surname they give to all orphans (either at the orphanage or at the academy) in her age group that don't have one.

Her favorite perfume scent is lavender.

She has a range of talents besides fighting, because she's meant to be able to adapt to any situation. That includes entertainment (music, conversation, dance, etc) and basics in some STEM fields (basics in mechanics, etc.)

As a result of her training, she's immune to most poisons
