one of the things that the Madrid GP addition drama reaffirms is the Great Divide™️ between media and the fans; once again, the criticism of street tracks is ignored and entirely overridden by blatant lies, spearheaded by stefano and fom ostensibly making these changes ‘for the fans’ (read: $$$); begs the question which fans stefano is referring to because the general consensus is that absolutely nobody wants more street tracks (reasons are endless); f1 media however keeps regurgitating the same apparent positives of street tracks apparently in the name of the fans, with absolutely no one deciding to question them; and this highlights the massive problem in f1 media: there is virtually no pluralism; everyone is reading from the same script supplied by fom; it’s a big disappointment because firstly, the fans don’t feel listened to (stefano’s insistence on ‘providing for the fans’ genuinely feels like a slap in the face atp) and secondly, the media doesn’t do the job it’s supposed to (i keep mentioning the f1 journalistic bubble being a huge hindrance to f1’s development, but it’s exactly that again, this street track saga is a desperate call for someone to finally ask the uncomfortable questions to stefano, to fom, to those in power as to why they are doing what they are doing; absolutely no journalist is willing to actually do anything of value (one payroll amirite) and the fans once again feel completely ignored

As much as it would be fun to see Carlos treated like an actual prince in his home race at Madrid, I’m really not looking forward to the inevitable chaos and DRS trains that yet another street circuit will bring
I just want real racing please

As a street circuit apologist i have to add my two cents to this. Street tracks are a valid part of the calendar as they were and will be. But they are a TREAT, a special pretty little thing that is there to spice things up and test teams, cars and drivers. They are not meant to be every other race. When we think street we should think about iconic and historic Monaco or fun and sexy Singapore, not fucking PARKING LOT GP in Spain. These new circuits wreck the cars and endanger drivers more then usual because they are half baked and made like fucking lego town. There are SO MANY amazing permanent circuits that are abandoned by fom and fia because those places cannot financially provide, yet F1 is getting more popular and brings more money than it ever did before. If only they could redistribute the resources properly and not sign 10 year contracts with tracks nobody gives a shit about. Good luck keeping those new fans with boring ugly tracks and expensive tickets. This better be a BANGER of a race if they want to keep casual fans watching 24 (or more) bloody weekends. It is obvious that nothing will ever be more important to them then money, we all get it, but GOD is it frustrating to witness them not contributing to the development of the sport like they could.

It was our house that was completely bombed. We are now in the displacement camps. We go to the sea to wash our clothes due to the lack of water in the camps, and my wife is pregnant. She now suffers from hepatitis caused by pollution in Gaza. Can you help them get out of Gaza before their child is born? . Her only dream now is for her baby to be fine, and for her not to give birth in a tent without medical care.

Erm it’ll be covered by public money?? While “waiting” to find private investors? We all know what that means, if there aren’t enough investors, public money will continue to be funnelled over the whole 10 year contract
Instead of like, building a new hospital or funding education or something
Madrid will pay Formula 1 almost twice as much as Catalunya, equating to nearly 500 million Euros over the course of the 10 year contract (€48m a year, compared to Catalunya’s €25m)
This makes it the most expensive European circuit, and puts it closer to what Bahrain, Qatar and Abu Dhabi pay
The cost will be covered by IFEMA with public money whilst waiting to find private investors apparently
