The Golden Voyage of Sinbad features the stop-motion animation of Ray Harryhausen and Caroline Munro so no one should be surprised that it is Bill’s pick. In fact, Ray Harryhausen is his hero and this is the movie that made him fall in love with moviemaking. He’s poured over the Kali scene frame-by-frame, over and over. He still can’t believe how cool everything is and how great it looks, loving it then and loving it now.
Jeff also digs The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, calling it his favorite of the Harryhausen adventure movies. It’s a better movie overall in his view and he appreciates Tom Baker’s turn as the film’s villain. Watching The Golden Voyage of Sinbad had reawakened Doc’s love of these movies. The special effects are seamlessly melded into the story, the villain is cool, the creatures are fun, and it is such a good time.
The Golden Voyage of Sinbad is currently available to stream from Tubi and various PPV sources. It’s also available on Blu-ray as a stand-alone or as part of Ray Harryhausen – The Ultimate 7 Film Collection, both from ViaVision Entertainment/Madman/Columbia Pictures.

HEADS UP! I NEED RECOMMENDATIONS!
(EXCLUSIVE BONUS CONTENT OF XENA FOR UPLOADING TO TUMBLR)
I still have a lot of these Xena featurettes to watch so there's still so much content that I could upload. Please let me know if you want to see anything specific. I'm uploading the stuff that I think is interesting to know and learn about. There's a lot of Lucy and Renee stuff but I'm more interested in what the creators have to say about the TV show. But you guys can recommend stuff too. Anything you can think of...
Remember that I can only either upload short video clips or gif sets but I'd rather it be short video clips because I'm shite at making gifs.

Here's the full list of all the Xena featurettes I have. I can only really upload them in short clips or gif sets but if there's anything you want to see, do let me know and I'll do my best to get it on Tumblr for you.
There's lots of cast/crew interviews and audio/video commentaries.
The only thing I don't have is the Lucy and Renee coffee talks but they're all uploaded on YouTube. Every single one of them is there.
Also the Season 4 exclusive interviews because for some reason the DVDs for the Anchor Bay Season 4 set won't rip to my MacBook. But that's on YouTube too. I do have the ones for Season 5 and 6 though.
Absolutely anything you want and in whatever format you want. ☺️
I've already uploaded a few clips if you want to check them out. 😙

It has taken me years to track down the 1st edition ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ Anchor Bay DVD Deluxe Collector’s Edition full box set because I wasn’t going to purchase anything that wasn’t in New condition.
As in - unwrapped and unused.
TA DAAA! I finally have the 1st ever release DVDs of my most favourite TV show in the whole wide world.
Will I open them you ask?
They’re a collector’s item for a reason. They’ve been out of print since 2005. It’s extremely difficult to get them for a halfway decent price in New condition.
So no. I will never open them. But they will proudly sit in my bedroom where they can be admired by me.
But how do I know they work if I don’t open them?
I don’t. That’s true. But that doesn’t matter to me. If I want to watch the show, I can watch it from any of my other Xena box sets that are already ripped and synched to my Mac laptop, iPhone and Samsung TV. The whole point to getting this full box set is literally for the box sets. It wouldn’t make a difference to me if there was even anything inside them. I won’t need the actual DVDs. They’re just there to be a reminder of my love for Xena and the accomplishment of finally tracking down the 1st ever DVDs made of the show. All the bonus content from them I already have from my Madman/Viavision DVD box set that just copied everything from the Anchor Bay DVDs and called it something else under their own company instead.
Happy New Year to me indeed. 😁

Damn. As if you have 2 full Anchor Bay sets. Unless you're willing to pay through the roof, these are impossible to find. I have the AUS Madman/Viavision set which is basically all the Anchor Bay content and other extras all rolled into one. So long as you can play Region 4, that's just as good, if not better. Didn't even know you could get the Coffee Talks on DVD. How do I go about purchasing those?
Since I’ve gotten a few questions about my Xena dvds, here’s a quick pic. On the left are my original sets that I’ve had for over 15 years at this point. In the middle are my Creation Con/coffee talk dvds. Finally, on the right are Best Buy exclusives that came with extra special features (that were literally just delivered a few minutes ago) These are what I use to make my gifs.

They’ve gone cheap with the packaging. I have this as an actual box with the Chakram design on it as the magnetic clasp.
The best box set however is the Madman/Viavision box set you can get in Australia. It includes all the special features and additional footage that comes with the now out of print Anchor Bay box sets for each season.

Heads up to first time/virgin watchers of Xena.
The show is only available to watch in its entirety on Amazon Prime in the US for free. If you’re American, you’re good. If you’re not, well, unless you’re good with using illegal ways of watching it, unfortunately the only way to watch it is to buy the DVDs or buy/rent it digitally. Which you can do on Amazon or iTunes.
I recommend the DVDs approach because there are some very good sets with great extras and features.

Another day, another box set acquired. This one is the first print of the season 2 DVD collection originally released in 2003 by Anchor Bay. It includes the audio/video commentaries of ‘Return Of Callisto’ by Lucy Lawless & Renee O’Connor, ‘Destiny’ by Rob Tapert and ‘A Day In The Life’ by Lucy Lawless, Renee O’Connor & Rob Tapert. I now have all the interviews and audio/video commentaries that were ever done for ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’, including ‘Sins Of The Past’ audio commentary by Lucy and Renee done for the 10th Anniversary Collection box set released by Anchor Bay, which I also have. And because I have these box sets, I can now confirm that ‘The Ultimate Collection’ Madman/Viavision box set is a compilation of both Anchor Bay’s original and 10th Anniversary Collection box sets. So if you want them, I would recommend buying that as the Anchor Bay box sets for all 6 seasons are extremely expensive because of being out of print and Anchor Bay sold the copyrights to Creation & Viavision. Hence why the Viavision company took it upon themselves to redistribute their own Xena box set in Australia with all of the special features and behind-the-scenes content from the Anchor Bay box sets.
Funny thing. There is a trivia game on the bonus disc that comes with the Anchor Bay season 2 box set. I burst out laughing when I saw these questions.

@the-jiminyrizzles There’s plenty of commentaries on the episodes though. I have them all on my DVDs.

I love how I can watch any interview or commentary with the creators/cast/crew whatsoever and discover that they view the show as an EPIC romance and Xena and Gabrielle’s relationship romantically just as much as I do. They’re not subtle about it at all and I love it!
Like I said… to everybody but the network and the homophobic naysayers in serious denial… Xena and Gabrielle were canon. The Xena team themselves lean so much into the romantic interpretation that it can’t just simply be waved away as one. It’s the narrative!

@rockindocs That’s great. I am only doing so because I know there’s a lot of fans on here that do not have access to the exclusive bonus content. I mean the anchor bay sets are incredibly difficult to find for a half-way decent price. With the production company being defunct and the box sets being completely out of print, they’re actually really quite rare to come by now in new condition - sealed. I spent a long time finding mine. But I also have the madman/viavision box set from Australia that has all that same content.
Minus a few things….
of which I accumulated in other ways.
Now I would say I have the most comprehensive collection of every Xena box set ever made with any Xena featurettes on them whatsoever. Prized possessions because I love the creators/cast/crew talking about the show. I love how passionate they are.
Even if I have my own way of interpreting the show, it’s still nice to know what they think and feel about it.
I’ve written about how this show has some timeless magic to it in that I’ve been watching it ever since I was only 5 years old and as I’ve grew up, this show has grown up with me and with every new piece of information or insight that enters into my then-consciousness, no matter how many times I watch these episodes (because I’ve seen them all countless times), I will see them sightly anew every time and fall more in love and become more passionate. It’s magic.
And I think the key in that is the ambiguous writing of so many of the key elements that make this show as impactful as it is. Certainly with Xena and Gabrielle’s relationship but also other key elements. They leave a lot of it ambiguous on purpose and I think that’s what it is that allows me to regard it as timeless magic.
I wouldn’t change a damn thing. Not even the parts I don’t like about it because I never would have got this show it it’s entirety the way I did without the good and bad and I know that’s a theme the show itself teaches. To appreciate the bad and the dark as well as the good and the light because you wouldn’t be a balanced person without both. You wouldn’t be who you are and you wouldn’t be able to do what you’re able to do. That’s a great theme in the overall story of this show and I take it to heart and apply it as often as possible.
Well, the same goes for how I regard the TV show itself. There are things that I really don’t like about it but ultimately the pros outweigh the cons and so I would never want them changed or fixed in any way.
I’m ultimately happy with the final product that I got. There are other TV shows where I cannot say the same and I wish that the creators/cast/crew were as clever, creative and conscientious as the XENA lot were. 😑
HEADS UP! I NEED RECOMMENDATIONS!

I have several box sets for the show but the ultimate fan experience is these. I have a list for all the special features and bonus content included on them all
And there’s…. A LOT.
Not so much for the first season but every other season there’s shitloads of BTS and extras. And ever since Anchor Bay went defunct, other companies have tried to cash in on these box sets. Most notably Madman/Viavision in the AU. The box sets themselves pale in comparison but the content is exactly the same. Anyway, this is what’s on these box sets.
