The sigh came from deep in your chest wanting to drop to the floor for an exhaustion induced nap, but an airport wasn’t the best place. Large sunglasses obscured people from seeing the deep bags under your eyes on the way to the film lot. It was coming full circle, the change different from the frantic schedule you had had recently. When Kenny called you hadn’t hesitated in packing and buying a ticket.
“Miss Y/L/N?” The voice pulled you from your thoughts as a man holding a card with your name displayed. He was of Puerto Rican descendent with a young girl beside him with similar features, “I’m Ricardo. This is my daughter Madison.”
“It’s nice to meet you. I’m-“
“Y/N Y/L/N.” Madison supplied with a beaming grin on her face having recognized you from your role as Sabrina in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina along with movies.
All you could do was send a fragile smile in response after a long sleepless flight to Canada.
Madison’s eyes saddened at the exhaustion you carried, “I can fangirl later. You looked really tired.”
“Kenny saw and asked me to come over the guise of help, but he knows I need a break. He’s lucky I don’t need to be on set for a few weeks.” You replied, covering a yawn as you found yourself at a car, the walk a blur.
Unintentionally you found yourself asleep in the backseat the moment you settled back there for the drive. You had filmed in Vancouver before, so it wasn’t a huge deal, and the Reyes’ duo didn’t have the heart to wake you up.
“We’re here,” Madison whispered with the back-car door opened. Your eyelids fluttering at her voice, giving Madison a closer look at your face.
Walking on set, you saw Kenny giving one of his pep talks before he cut himself off at the sight of you. The actors surrounding him furrowed their brows as the legendary director power walked to a person concealed behind Mads.
“Sweetheart.” Kenny beamed, pulling his niece in for a hug before leaning back to scan her features, “You need a nap.”
“I need to meet your new cast.” You snickered stepping around the man to the three actors he had abandoned to see you. You found amusement in their widening eyes at the sight of the Y/N walking to them.
“Oh, my shit.” Owen gasped freaking out as the actress co-starring in the new Spider-Man trilogy came closer.
Last night Owen, Charlie and Jeremy had hosted a movie night in the rented apartment the first two rented. They had quickly made their way through Captain America: Civil War before watching the following movies with Spider-Man. You had a cameo in Captain America: Civil War before becoming a star in Homecoming and Far From Home.
“We manifested her.” Charlie hissed frantically fixing his set costume growing a blush at the smile you wore. He could feel the hair stylist on standby glaring at his tousled locks.
The girl in question came to a stop before the three guys portraying the phantoms of the show in the second season. You couldn’t help but chuckle at the expressions each one of them had.
“Hello.” You greeted flattered when the tall blonde one turned a blossom pink at the voice of an angel. Charlie and Owen had developed celebrity crushes on you.
In revenge, Tori, a returning choreographer and background character, saw Charlie’s expression along with a familiar girl. After filming season one ended the previous year you had stopped by during the filming process of CAOS to catch up with Kenny. Tori had been there and you two became friends.
“Hey!” Tori grinned, pulling you into a hug, “These three binged your MCU movies last night, and Charlie’s wallpaper is you.”
“Tori!”
“This is what you get for telling Booboo about the poster!” Tori called to the Canadian boy jogging out his area. Charlie’s cheek darkened more than Owen’s as your smile grew bigger.
“No worries Ghost. Luke definitely my favourite character and gotta say you should have been on Charmed more than two episodes.” You supplied walking backwards to Kenny once more yearning for a night’s rest after the flight.
“Holy shit.” Charlie choked smacking Jeremy’s arm repeatedly, “She knows me. Oh, oh, OH. She’s seen me-“
“-Getting it on for a scene.” Jeremy snickered as his friend grew more and more flustered, “That was tame compared to her and Tom going at it.”
Charlie’s face dropped being reminded of the explicit scene you had done with Tom Holland in the movie that came out near the end of 2020. The Devil All the Time was the only film out of the MCU you had done with Tom. You had played the promiscuous daughter of a devout, loyal churchgoer and close friend of the preacher.
“Didn’t they date for a few months?” Owen questioned thinking back to the media mayhem during the virtual press for the film.
Owen was correct with the chemistry between you and Tom it was natural you would do interviews together via shared video chats. Charlie watched every single one that came out with interest. He hadn’t even expected the film to do so dark and explicit, but you had a natural talent.
“English, handsome, actor-“ Charlie started to list off on the English actor with a far more extensive list of credits. Charlie felt like a Canadian child in the city of Los Angeles compared to your leading man.
“-runs a charity with his family.” Jeremy continued raising one eyebrow, “At least he isn’t tall. You’d be fully screwed.”
Charlie shoved his teasing friends away with a smirk of his own as the trio continued on to the film. Charlie put his feelings on the back burner to focus on the storyline and emotions of the scene.
“Spider-Man Three baby!” The English accent shouted from the phone with only an ocean separating the two actors. Tom hadn’t even greeted you before screaming at the news you both received; despite the scripts from a few weeks prior the sequel had fully been greenlighted
Your head tossed back at the childlike glee on the older adult, clearly displaying the two years really mean he was two years old. After meeting on the set of Civil War along with Harrison, you had become friends. Followed with the following MCU appearances, it had been a surprise to be cast in Devil All the Time.
“Insane.” You started making your way through the set to where Kenny had texted you from. It was closing to the end of your vacation.
In the few weeks, you had reconnected with Tori on her breaks along with becoming good friends with the cast members. Something clicked between you and the core four of the show even if Madison sometimes still got starstruck.
“Did you read the script?” Tom questioned quirking his infamous eyebrow his fans wholly adored. You found it amusing, to be honest, that every character he portrayed had the same eyebrow.
“Not fully. I’m surrounded by people, and unlike you, I prefer not to jeopardize my career with marvel.” You teased glancing up as Charlie and Owen made their way over, “I’ll be flying out in a few days for filming.”
Tom nodded his head, “I got get back. Jacob and Haz are visiting. Remember to film the announcement! Bye Love!”
You gave a thumbs up before Tom ended the facetime glancing up at the duo who each raised their eyebrows. Charlie’s mask nearly breaking at Tom’s goodbye. Charlie could feel the cover of his feelings falling more and more each day.
“Announcement?” Owen questioned, slipping his jacket on over his shoulders having changed from his Alex outfit.
“Nothing.” You waved it off, starting to walk backwards with a smile that Charlie thought made your eyes shine brighter than stars.
The boys followed behind on the walk to the house Jeremy and Carolynn had decided to rent during filming. You had been crashing there as Jeremy didn’t want Carolynn to be alone with his filming schedule. It also gave the perfect place for your plan. Last few nights you had binged the marvel movies again ending with Far From Home.
The living room was decked out by Carolynn with your help from earlier as she was the only know that knew. Everyone settled in the living room with Mr Reyes there as well who had quickly become a father figure to you.
“So, I wanted everyone here for a reason. I’m sure you’ve noticed I’ve been reading a script and I have something to open.” You started thanking Jeremy as he brought in the package, he had no clue of the contents, “Now nobody says any spoilers for season two.”
You turned on the camera Paul Becker had supplied with a small smile having already filmed the opening sequence. You sat on the floor in the camera shot, opening the big box to hand out the smaller boxes to your friends. Charlie, Owen, Jeremy, Madison, Savannah, Booboo and every else glanced at the non-descript red box.
“Open them.” You urged grinning as the room went silent except for the tape ripping off the packages.
In each individual box was marvel themed candy, a plushie of Spider-Man along with signed cards from the Avengers actors and the MCU Spider-Man cast. At the very bottom, all it said was to look up at you. Instead of facing them with their looks of shock, you addressed the camera.
“Tom and I are so incredibly happy to announce that Spider-Man 3 is in the beginning process of filming.” You beamed at the camera listening to the intense noise of your friends screaming, “we can’t reveal anything else about the film, but the script is immaculate as usual. You’ll get to see Harper on the screen once more.”
“WHAT!” The collective scream behind you came as you waited a second before ending the video. You’d have to replay it before sending to marvel for the finishing touches with Tom’s version and then you could post it on Instagram.
“Surprise!” You spoke to the group behind you all in states of excitement, “You don’t know how much I’ve wanted to tell you guys! I got the script a few days before I came.”
“Holy shit.” Owen spoke, laughing at he shook his head, “You managed to get autographs from fucking Iron Man himself.”
“I got connections.” You snorted meeting the gaze of Charlie, “Nah, Downey’s kids came for a visit, and I kept them company. Downey offered to do anything, and I took the favour.”
The surprise wore off as the group mingled, but Charlie’s eyes stayed pinned to your form as you sent a message to Tom. Locking your phone to noticed his eyes.
“Hey Charlie.” You smiled, sitting on the couch next to him. His expressive eyes showing a silver screen of emotions you couldn’t quite decipher.
The corner of his mouth tilted up in response to the way his name rolled off your tongue, sending his heart stuttering. A cold sweat appearing when you grasped his hand in yours in a confident manner.
“So, you leave soon?” Charlie murmured moving closer to hear you among the chatter of the group. Your lips turned down for a split second as you felt the sadness of leaving.
It was refreshing to be on set without the demands of makeup, costumes, filming and choreography. To see the action and magic but not be part of it was a definite change you had needed desperately. But to leave Charlie hurt.
“My call time is in three days. Need to get ready to bring Harper Osbourne back to the big screen.” You replied, loosening your grip on his hand, “I don’t really want to go back. I’m gonna miss you…and everyone else of course.”
Unaware to the eyes watching in anticipation you and Charlie conversed further on the upcoming months. To the great disappointment of the house began to clear out, Owen for an early call time. Savannah was meeting with her brother, and Mr Reyes was taking Madison home.
It left Jeremy and Carolynn to retire to their bedroom while you stayed on the couch with Charlie for longer. The emotions building from the prior weeks, bubbling to the surface. Hearts thudding in their chest Charlie leaned in glancing at your lips; yours glancing at his.
Who moved first couldn’t be known, but as your lips brushed together just barely you felt grounded and peaceful. If he leaned closer, you wonder what the kiss would make you feel.
“I’d like to kiss you.” Charlie murmured startled at the confidence he had gained, “But before I do. Do you have something with Tom?”
“Other than onscreen chemistry? Absolutely nothing.” You spoke barely louder than a whisper to the boy that had become so much more than some actor.
He was Charlie. The goofy boy that put a smile on anyone’s face with an impromptu concert in the middle of a crowded street. He lived life to the fullest without any regrets. He was passionate about his work, music and the environment.
Those thoughts evaporated when lips met another pair of lips in what might be described as the best kiss ever. No fireworks felt as Wattpad would say, but instead, it was the heady warmth of hot chocolate on a cold day; a warm shower after a long stressful day. It was home and perfect.

Ohana
Request- what if the cast (Madison Charlie, Owen Jeremy in an apartment together) was stuck in quarantine together with the lock down happen and they try navigate through it all and try not get in each other nerves, big brothers to mads...
WORD COUNT: 1999
WARNINGS: NONE, JUST A BUNCH OF WHOLESOME FLUFF
Owen, Charlie, Madison and Jeremy set themselves in different areas of the apartment as they prepared for yet another Zoom interview, the third one of the week. Charlie opted to take himself outside on the balcony, Madison took the kitchen table while Jeremy and Owen both set up in their respective rooms.
“Hey guys!” The interviewer called out
“Hi!” Madison chirped back followed by a “how you doin’” from Charlie. Jeremy came in with “Hi! It’s nice to meet you!” and Owen fumbled his entrance with “Good Morning...or Afternoon...I don’t know where you are.”
They went through the interview questions with ease, at this point they had heard the same questions over and over and though they tried their best the answers started to be the same too.
“Charlie, I saw that you posted on Instagram that you all four of you are quarantining together, how is that going?” The interviewer asked and Charlie welcomed the question.
“Oh! Gosh! It’s so much fun….well, I mean, most of the time!” Charlie laughed.
“Uh oh!” The interviewer responded.
“No,...no, it’s all good! Owen just has a bad habit of not washing his dishes and leaving clothes all over the apartment!” Charlie revealed.
“Oop! Not you calling people out Charlie” Madison responded with her hand over her mouth.
Jeremy laughed, clapping his hands together and Owen chimed in “Ok, Charlie, Okay...I may be messy but at least I eat like a normal human being!”
“Expose him!” Madi yelled out “Charlie over here eating peanut butter on his eggs…”
They wrapped up the interview and each headed to the living room “peanut butter eggs, really, Mads?” Charlie flicked her in the forehead as he walked by her to sit on the couch.
Madison shrugged her shoulders “...that’s what you get for coming at Owen…”
Charlie pulled out his phone and scrolled through Instagram, reposting some fan art and replying to comments before he got a notification that Owen had tagged him in a post. Charlie clicked on the video and groaned when he saw it was a video of him eating another weird food combo. Owen immediately started laughing when he saw Charlie’s face and the two boys started play fighting in the middle of the living room.
Jeremy watched for approximately two minutes before getting up and going back to his room to facetime his wife.
“You guys are himbos” Madison muttered under her breath.
Charlie stopped mid-way through tackling Owen and turned around to Madison, his face twisted in confusion “Huh?”
Owen laughed, “what does that even mean?”
Charlie turned back towards Owen “Dude, I swear she speaks a whole ‘nother language than us.”
Madison rolled her eyes and stood up “I’m going to my room to go live with my fantoms, you guys are idiots.”
Charlie pushed out of Owen’s grasp and plopped back down on the couch. He grabbed the remote control and mindlessly flipped through the channels before landing on some old school cartoons. He sighed a happy sigh and laid his head down on the pillow propped up by the arm of the couch. Jeremy joined Charlie in the living with a smile plastered to his face. Charlie looked up at him from his spot on the couch, wiggling his eyebrows, which, in turn caused Jeremy to pull the pillow out from underneath his head and hit him in the face with it.
“Get your head out of the gutter, Charlie” Jeremy huffed and sat down in the oversized chair adjacent to the couch “you are exhausting to live with” he muttered, his right pointer finger scrolling through his Instagram page lazily.
“Yeah, Charlie, you’re like the worst to live with.” Owen snickered.Charlie flicked him in the back of the head.
Jeremy looked up from his phone “I don’t know why you’re laughing,Owen...i’m pretty sure you’re growing a science experiment in your dirty dishes.”
“Ugh..fine, MOM! I will go wash my dishes, happy?” Owen rolled his eyes and made his way to the kitchen with slumped shoulders.
The two brown haired boys sat in silence, both scrolling through Instagram and going through the endless amount of art, edits and covers that the fans had tagged them in. Charlie added some of his favorites to his story and commented on others as he saw fit. Every few minutes he would laugh under his breath and turn his phone to Jeremy who would laugh as well with an occasional “send me that one…” muttered into the otherwise silent air.
“I thought Mads was on live?” Charlie cocked his head back to look at Jeremy for an answer after noticing her profile wasnt live at the top of his screen.
“She was for a little bit” Jeremy confirmed “she ended it like, I don’t know...an hour ago?” Jeremy shrugged.
Charlie swung his legs to the side and sat up before pulling himself off of the couch and making his way to the teenage girls bedroom. Her door was cracked the tiniest bit but Charlie still lifted his knuckles and lightly tapped the door. He pushed the door open when he didn’t get a response from the girl and peered into her room. The walls had a purple glow reflecting off of them from the lights that ran across the molding. Madison was curled up in the middle of the bed but from her shaking body he knew she wasn’t napping. Charlie walked further into her room and sat on the foot of her bed and leaned forward, gently placing his hand on the girl's shoulder.
“Mads?” Charlie said gently, concern laced in his voice.
Madison squeezed her stuff ghost to her chest and shook her head at Charlie.
“Hey...hey, what’s wrong?” Charlie grabbed her left hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. Madison sucked in a shaky breath, wiped her tears from her face with the back of her right hand and sat up. She pulled her knees to her chest and laid her head on the tops of them, staring at the wall.
“I w-wanna g-g-go home” the curly haired girl got out between small sobs, the tears falling steadily from her eyes again.
Charlie’s face softened at the words. He remembered what it was like when he first left home for the great unknown, it was hard, and even if he was surrounded by great people, he still felt lonely sometimes too. Charlie pulled the girl forward by the wrists until her head was hooked over his shoulder and his arms wrapped around her. His right hand ran up and down her back trying to calm her down. They sat like that in silence, her tears slowly soaking through the fabric of his shirt on his shoulder.
“You know you can always talk to us, right, Mads? Like, we aren’t ever going to judge you, you know that, yeah?” Charlie spoke softly. Madison pulled away from Charlie and wiped the last remaining tears from her cheeks as she nodded her head.
“I’ll be out in a little bit...I just need a minute” Madison gave Charlie the tiniest hint of a smile, letting him know that she was going to be ok.
“Ok” Charlie agreed and left the girl to herself, closing the door behind him. He made his way back to the living room where Owen and Jeremy were in the middle of a game of Death By Daylight.
“Hey, Himbo’s” Charlie greeted.
“You don’t even know what that means, idiot.” Owen muttered.
Charlie shrugged and grabbed the tv remote before turning the TV off without notice and eliciting angry “Hey’s” from the other two boys. He leaned back in the chair and glanced down the hallway to make sure Madison’s door was still closed.
He leaned forward and placed his elbows on his knees. “We need to do something like...really, really spectacular for Madi. She is really homesick and upset.” His eyes switched between the two boys as they threw ideas back and forth before Jeremy came through with the game-winning plan.
“None of us can really cook so why don’t we order some Empanadas and Elote from that small hole-in-the-wall place that Madi likes and then we set up a zoom with her family and some of her friends for a movie night. We can get DoorDash to deliver some popcorn and snacks to us too so it’ll be like, a whole thing.”
“Dude, Jer, you’re a genius!” Owen exclaimed and Charlie nodded his head in agreement. The three boys quickly got to work to arrange everything. Charlie ordered the food to be delivered before he quickly cleaned the dining table off so they could sit together and have a meal family style. Owen DoorDashed the movie snacks and popcorn and Jeremy DM’d several of Madi’s friends before calling her Mr. Reyes and letting him know what was going on.
Charlie set plates out on to the table along with glasses of water and within a half hour the food and snacks had been delivered. He placed the containers of food in the middle of the table while Jeremy set up his laptop in the living room so they could join the Zoom call when they finished eating.
“Do I smell empanadas?” Madison's voice called as the girl made her way up the hallway and towards the kitchen area. The girl stopped in the doorway with her mouth agape, her eyes scanned the dining table and the three boys that stood by it.
“What’s all this?” She gestured with her right hand.
Jeremy pulled out a chair and motioned for Madison to sit in it before he pushed it in towards the table.
“We heard you were feeling a little down.” Owen shrugged as if the effort they put in over the last hour was no big deal and reached for an empanada before passing the container to Madison. Madison eagerly grabbed one and bit into it “oh myyyy gooodddd” she moaned out mid chew.
“Elote?” Charlie held out the other food container to Madison. Madison eagerly grabbed one and placed on her plate “you guys are a couple of simps!”
“What’s a--” Jeremy raised an eyebrow in question but was cut off by Charlie.
“Don’t ask, I think she just makes them up as she goes.” Charlie shrugged “but I’m almost positive it’s a good thing.”
The dining room was filled with laughter as they told jokes and played rounds of what are the odds? Madison sat back in her chair, her eyes bright and a smile so large on her face that her cheeks had begun to hurt. Jeremy got up and took all of the plates to the sink while Charlie placed the leftover food into the fridge and Owen made a quick run to the living room to enter the Zoom call and popped ‘Hocus Pocus’ into the blu-ray player. Madison whined when Charlie grabbed her by the shoulders and guided her to the living room when she tried to go back to her room to call her Dad.
“Hocus Pocus? Guys, I love this movie!” Madison squealed, her eyes opening wide when she heard a whole room of laughter.
“Guys…?”
Owen turned the laptop around and Madison immediately burst into tears at seeing the faces of her family and friends on the screen all together. She popped up from the couch and pulled each of the guys into a tight hug.
Jeremy looked down at the girl and smiled “we’re always here for ya, kid.”
“Yeah, Mads, you’re like a little sister to us, We love you.” Owen agreed while pouring some rainbow nerds into his mouth.
“Alright, enough of the mush, let’s get this movie night started” Charlie hopped over the back of the couch and got himself situated before pressing play. Madison rolled her eyes at the boy and settled into her spot on the couch with a bag of reeses pieces and her heart full.

New Choices Game
Which are your fave characters from each Choices book?
TS/TF: Zig, Tyler, Madison
TC&TF: Sei and Whitlock (Now that I think about it, Sei somewhat reminds me of Estela)
MW: Cassandra Leigh and I guess David Reyes?
RoE: Oh geez, it’d be easier to make a list of all the characters I dislike. I honestly don’t think I have a favorite character in this series? I guess the brother is okay, and the party sister has actual growth.
ES: Michelle Nguyen ❤️️ Even from the start, I had a feeling she had more depth to her than bitchy ex (also she’s Vietnamese, and that makes me automatically biased towards her haha). Also, Craig never fails to make me smile or laugh, and he’s such a bro to Sean. Honestly, I just love these two loyal Asians.
THoBM: Simon Waverly, bless his soul. He’s such a sweetheart, and idk, he reminds me of Simon from Nanny McPhee (I would post a picture showing how similar they really are but I really don’t want PB to go back and change his face so 🤐)
LoveHacks: Brooke is such a mom friend, and I love it. Horatio’s just awesome in general.
Hero: KENJI KATSAROS IS MY WORLD, AND I MISS HIM SO MUCH ❤️️
TRR: Maxwell (how can anyone not love him?!) but Olivia is actually so me in real life (snarky/sarcastic and only lets in a few people but loves those that she does let in fiercely)
HSS: Aiden Zhou is my baby, but Julian’s such a sweetheart throughout the series (RIP, never got to romance him ever). It was kinda weird but also cute that he faltered at the last shot because MC didn’t believe in him.
ILITW: Noah (because asdfghjkl he’s so complex and his dialogue 👌) and also Dan because something about Dan got me locked in as soon as his fake climbed through my window. Tom is so adorkable and me at my awkward moments, and Andy and Lucas are just ❤️️❤️️. I really miss all my boys 😢
HftH: Charles was the only sane one tbh.
RCD: Cheap thing to say, but Thomas Hunt (he exists in RCD, and that’s all that’s necessary for him to be on this list). And Crash Yamaguichi. And Ethan Blake. And Addison Sinclair.
Seth and Gloria the Glittering are great too.
Tagging @stayfallentastic @zahranamazis @stunningstans @emmahawkins @aleh-atoria and anyone and everyone who wants to do this themselves 😊

James Madison, Thomas Jefferson y Alexander Hamilton
Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson y James Madison

4 winners and 3 losers of the 2019 MLB trade deadline
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
The trade deadline has come and gone, and MLB rosters have been reloaded for the post-season push. Despite the change to roster rules this year which removed the possibility of post-deadline waiver trades, we still got a flurry of moves after the supposed window had closed. A former Cy Young Award winner was the biggest name involved. Let’s start with him.
Winner: Zack Greinke
We didn’t get word of Houston landing Zack Greinke until 13 minutes after the 4 p.m. ET deadline:
BREAKING: #Astros get Greinke.
— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) July 31, 2019
If you want to label the Astros as the winners here I won’t quibble, but they were already a World Series favorite without him. Yes, Houston improved an already wonderful rotation by adding the veteran right-hander, but Greinke is a big gainer here too.
Greinke left a perennial contender in the Dodgers to take record money from the Diamondbacks. Arizona had designs on winning but only made the playoffs once in his first three seasons and are only on the fringes of contending this year. Now, Greinke is back with a loaded team, one expected to seriously for the World Series through the end of his contract in 2021.
The playoffs are better with Zack Greinke, so maybe we are the real winners.
Winner: Mets(?!)
Given that the Mets are the Mets, it feels weird to associate them with any sort of success, but the fact that they nabbed one of the most coveted starting pitchers on the block in Marcus Stroman is a win. Stroman is one of 12 qualified pitchers in MLB with a sub-3.00 ERA. His peripherals are solid, too: his 78 DRA- (anything below 100 is better than average) is better than fellow rumored trade subjects Robbie Ray (84) and Madison Bumgarner (89), to name a few.
There are questions about Stroman’s fit with the Mets. His 56.3-percent ground ball rate is second among MLB qualified starters, while New York’s infield defense is atrocious. The Mets rank in the bottom six teams in FanGraphs defense at second base, third base, and shortstop., and are in the bottom five in Defensive Runs Saved by infielders, per Sports Info Solutions.
But once you factor in that the Mets’ only cost was two minor leaguers that weren’t rated very highly, this trade becomes more favorable for New York.
Other teams selling pitchers are very annoyed at the Blue Jays return for Stroman, which one rival called “dogs*it.” If that’s all it took to get Stroman, fear is the price goes down for other pitchers unde control
— Andy Martino (@martinonyc) July 30, 2019
Text from an American League executive: "The Blue Jays' return for Stroman is embarrassing compared to what the Indians just got for Bauer."
— Robert Murray (@ByRobertMurray) July 31, 2019
That the Mets also kept Noah Syndergaard means they are at least set up well for 2020, with a rotation headed by Jacob deGrom, Syndergaard, Stroman, and Steven Matz. An improvement at minimal cost makes this an easy win for the Mets.
Loser: Dodgers
For weeks it has been obvious that the Dodgers needed a bullpen upgrade — not to make the playoffs, which a lock at this point, but to improve their chances in October. They didn’t get Felipe Vazquez from the Pirates, they didn’t get Will Smith from the Giants, and they didn’t even Ken Giles from Toronto. None were traded. But Jake Diekman and Shane Greene were, and the Dodgers didn’t bite. Maybe the price was too high, who knows?
Los Angeles did get a left-handed reliever in Adam Kolarek, but had an otherwise underwhelming trade deadline. The Dodgers must be betting big on their internal options, perhaps planning on moving hard-throwing young starters Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May to the bullpen, along with Kenta Maeda and Julio Urias playing major relief roles down the stretch.
Winner: Indians
On its face, the idea of Cleveland trading one of its best starting pitchers while holding the top American League wild card spot seems absurd, even coming from a team that seemed so complacent about its playoff chances that it’s sleepwalked through two straight offseasons.
But then we see the return for Bauer, and it makes much more sense. Five players came to Cleveland in the deal: Yasiel Puig and Franmil Reyes immediately help an Indians offense that ranks just 10th in the AL in runs per game (they’re third in runs allowed per game). Cleveland can slot Reyes at designated hitter, where his bad defense won’t hurt them, and the Indians added long-term plays in pitcher Logan Allen, a top-100 prospect before this season, Victor Nova and Scott Moss.
Losing Bauer, MLB’s leader in innings pitched in 2019, is a blow for Cleveland, but with this trade it’s clear the Indians are betting on the returns of ace Corey Kluber (limited to just seven starts this season with a broken forearm), Danny Salazar, and Carlos Carrasco, in order to shore up a rotation currently headed by Shane Bieber and MacGyver’s paper clip and gum wrapper. If the (likely) playoff-bound Indians can get any kind of pitching this October, they’ll now have a better offense to go with it.
Loser: Yankees
Like the Astros and Dodgers, the Yankees’ berth in October is all but secured. But with injuries mounting and a struggling starting rotation, New York sought pitching. Then they saw two of their reported targets in Stroman and Bauer went to non-contending teams. The Yankees did make one trade on July 31, but it was boring as hell.
The Yankees have acquired LHP Alfredo Garcia from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for RHP Joseph Harvey.
— Yankees PR Dept. (@YankeesPR) July 31, 2019
That’s not going to move the needle.
Winner: Yasiel Puig
Throughout his career, Yasiel Puig has been a must-watch player. You just never know what you’ll see.
In 2015 we thought we had the definitive post-trade reaction of a player on the field when Wilmer Flores was crying when he learned he was headed to Milwaukee. That trade ultimately didn’t happen which made the moment even more bizarre, but that image of Flores has been usurped by a ready-to-duel Puig on Tuesday night:
This is Puig playing a starring role in a mass brawl on behalf of his Cincinnati teammates after being traded to Cleveland. He was only with the Reds for four months, but he leaves a legend.
Loser: Tanner Roark
Roark was driving ahead to Cincinnati’s next stop, in Atlanta, when he learned he had been dealt to the A’s. His delicious processed meat was rudely interrupted with the news of his new destination.
Tanner Roark learned of his trade in an @arbys parking lot. He wanted a beef and cheddar (and curly fries). He was driving to Atlanta, where he lives in the off-season. @JonHeyman approves. He will not be driving to Oakland
— C. Trent Rosecrans (@ctrent) July 31, 2019
By sending minor league outfielder Jameson Hannah to the Reds, the A’s were able to meat Cincinnati’s demand. It’s just too bad that Roark’s roast beef quest was interrupted, even briefly.
[Ed note: we’re sorry. Eric insisted]

I'm sick and could not complete today's prompt... but I decided that I needed to post at least something for fanfic february! so here's the first chapter of the allydia penumbra podcast au I've been working on
Stiles wasn't a terrible assistant, he was just... okay, yes, Stiles was a terrible assistant. He did things like: "Good morning, Lydia! I forgot to stop and buy your coffee, so I just made some!" "Stiles, I'm assuming by the smoke coming from your office that I won't be getting any coffee." But then he also did much worse things, like: "Hey boss, I forgot to tell you, but you've got a meeting with my dad in.... ten minutes ago." "Stiles! Ten minutes?!" Ten minutes late was so beyond fashionably late. And unfashionably late meant... well, unfashionable, and if there was one thing Lydia Martin was not, it was unfashionable. A meeting with Sheriff Stilinski didn't mean anything good. If there's one thing independent detectives can't stand, it's police officers. If there's one thing criminal masterminds turned detectives can't stand, it's the police officers who arrested them. Well, and gave them a second chance, but Lydia was in a bad mood, so she didn't want to think of that. "What's this about?" Lydia demanded. "Nice to see you too." Sheriff Stilinski said. That's when she smelled it. That cologne. She knew it, she knew it, she knew- Yes, there across from the sheriff sat the one and only Madison Rice. Well, her name had been Madison Rice then. In the hunting business, names equaled targets. Lydia doubted "Madison" had kept the same name for longer than a week her whole life.
"What is she doing here?"
"It's nice to see you too, Lydia. And really, I should be asking you what you're doing here. I thought they locked you up years ago."
"She's the best private investigator in town." Stilinski cuts in. "And she's your partner for this mission."
"What?" Madison demands, and at the same time Lydia said "Why an I working with a hunter?"
She had most certainly not zoned out thinking about how cute Madison's was or how good she smelled, even if the last time Lydia had smelled that she had been face down on the concrete, impossibly caught.
Stilinski shrugged. "Madison, your father and I agree that the two of you would make a good pair for this mission. And Lydia, I promise, you will need a hunter."
Lydia sized the girl beside her up. Madison did the same.
"What's the mission?" She asked, not taking her eyes off of Lydia.
"The werepeople, the natives of our planet, are going extinct."
"Then why the hell do you need a hunter?"
"Because of what's killing them. Someone has found a way to create supernatural beings."
Lydia frowned.
"That would require... ancient, most likely destroyed Martian technology. Are you sure you have your story straight?"
The sheriff ignored her. "The two of you can leave any time, preferably soon. The faster you track down whoever is responsible, the less time you have to spend with each other."
"Is that all? No clues, no... no directions you could point us in?"
"That's all, Martin."
Lydia stormed out of the room. Today was a day for the dramatics. "Out of all the planets she could be on, she just had to choose Mars. Just had to be were I am."
"Talking to yourself?"
Lydia almost jumped. Almost.
Madison pushed herself up from were she'd been slouched against the doorframe. "Habit of you "detectives", huh? Or does that one come from the felon side of things?"
Lydia decided to choose her battles and didn't reply.
"Where do you plan to start with this mission.?"
"So we're being completely professional, then. Shame, this elevator ride could've been a bit more interesting."
Lydia wasn't sure if she meant fighting or kissing. With girls like her, it was hard to tell.
The doors opened. Stiles stumbled into view.
Madison's hand was around his throat without a second thought.
"He's my assistant, Christ. You can let him go."
"Ya coulda said that a little earlier, boss." Stiles said, coughing into his hand.
"Maybe if you hadn't forgotten my coffee and my meeting, I would have."
Madison didn't seem to be enjoying their exchange. "You smell like wolf."
Stiles glared at her. "Yeah, it's my boyfriend, and my best friend. Both werewolves."
"So we start there then. We can ask around, learn what the local packs know."
"Stiles, I hate to say it, but you might be useful. Can you get your boyfriend to talk to us?"
"He'a teaching a class right now and Scott's at work but I can leave him a message, boss."
"Thank you."
Madison was glaring at her. "What?"
"Well we can't just sit around and wait. As beautiful as you are, and as delightful as I find your company, the sooner I get this case over with the better. I've got things to see and people to be, Martin."
Lydia huffed. "What would you suggest we do, then?"
"There's one other person in this city I think might know something."
"Who?" She was already dreading the answer.
"Erica Reyes."
"How do you know Reyes?"
"Who in this galaxy doesn't know Reyes? Besides, she and I go way back."
Lydia, once again, wasn't sure if she meant fighting or kissing. With girls like Madison, it was hard to tell.
It was true that everyone in the galaxy knew Erica Reyes. She was a force to be reckoned with, owner of the largest, most exclusive club Mars had to offer. The last time Lydia had saw her, the thief had been making off with twelve of Reyes nicest paintings.
"I can't promise you that this will end well."
Madison shrugged. She pulled a crossbow out of her pocket, because she was, apparently, the type of person who had pockets deep enough to fit all manner of weapons.
That will be handy until the moment she decides to pull one on me.
The truth was, Lydia did not trust Madison. She knew that, no matter how close they might get personality wise, Madison would always hate her for what she was: a criminal. Ex-criminal, her mind supplied.
Reformed villian.
Recovered thief.
But really, the question was: who is Madison Rice?
Her name was Allison Argent, but Lydia wouldn't know that until later.

Two Weeks To Live (Sky One)

Former Model Madison Schill Wanted Sun-Kissed Hair With Maximum Shine. Here’s How She Got It.
Madison’s challenge: “I want to subtly lighten my hair so it looks natural, shiny and healthy.”
Hero product: L’Oréal Paris Superior Preference
Her beauty diary: When Madison was a globe-trotting model, her hair was regularly coloured to suit the requirements of the job. “Agents would always say my hair was too mousy or boring,” she says of her natural soft-brown locks. “They wanted it to be more edgy, so they’d colour it either black or super-dark brown.” Madison retired from modelling in 2013 and until recently hadn’t coloured her hair. “I just felt like I wanted to reacquaint myself with my own hair colour,” she explains. But she was ready for a change—this time on her own terms. “I wanted my hair to look naturally sun-kissed, and I wanted it to match my skin tone,” she says, adding that this was why she chose Superior Preference Shade 36 (“Golden Brown”). “My hair colour has depth, and it looks and feels healthier than it did before I coloured it.”
Photography: PRODUCTs BY DANIEL HARRISON
“Deciding to colour my hair only took 15 minutes because, for the first time, I didn’t have to ask for permission.”
Pro tip: Use the Care Suprême Colour-Saving Conditioner, which comes in the box, to hydrate, revitalize and lock in colour. (It contains golden camelina oil, antioxidant vitamin E and UV filters.)

L’Oréal Paris Superior Preference
There’s a reason L’Oréal Paris Superior Preference is the number one hair colour product in the country. The fade-defying translucent liquid-gel formula creates natural-looking highlights and lowlights that last up to eight weeks. It comes in 50 shades, so there’s a colour for everyone. ($14)
How to achieve the perfect golden hue:
“Stay within the range of your current colour and play with undertones,” suggests Brennen Demelo, L’Oréal Paris Canadian hair artist and expert. “This way, you create a more natural lightness. Madison, for example, only went two shades lighter and added a golden undertone.”

2018 Fantasy Baseball Draft Prep: 12-team Head-to-Head factors public sale outcomes
Our current 12-team Head-to-Head factors public sale ended up being far more than that.
It grew to become a research of diametrically opposed approaches and a 3rd that tried to search out center floor. And since the three house owners on the middle are those you could know from the Fantasy Baseball Immediately podcast, that makes it all of the extra enjoyable.
During the last couple years, focusing on beginning pitching early has turn out to be much less of a no-no in Fantasy Baseball, and that is very true on this format, the place there are fewer hitter spots to fill and no must stability quite a lot of classes, some scarcer than others. General manufacturing is all that issues, which significantly reduces the margin for error when choosing a hitter.
And in a power-laden surroundings the place everyone who’s anyone hits 20-plus dwelling runs, that margin for error is even smaller. How small? You might argue it is nearly nil, and I’ve theorized such. This public sale put it to the take a look at, although.
Straight away, it grew to become clear Heath Cummings and I entered with the identical technique: go laborious after the 4 tremendous aces (which, for the uninitiated, are Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, Corey Kluber and Chris Sale). When the bidding reached $40, the 2 of us went forwards and backwards, and I blinked first in every occasion, not desirous to blow out my prescribed funds. Heath wound up with three of the 4 (all however Sale). I wound up with none.
Undeterred, I made a decision to seize as most of the second-tier beginning pitchers — all aces in their very own proper — as I might, understanding I might nonetheless avoid the shortage at that place whereas additionally leaving myself with extra money to fill out the remainder of my beginning lineup. Collectively, Heath and I bought eight of the consensus high 17 beginning pitchers, giving us a giant benefit on the place the place there’s arguably the largest benefit available. It is simply that Heath’s 4 (Kershaw, Scherzer, Kluber and Justin Verlander) ate up $180 of his $260 funds whereas my 4 (Madison Bumgarner, Zack Greinke, Noah Syndergaard and Dallas Keuchel) consumed solely $124.
On the opposite facet of the coin was Chris Towers, who forsook pitching for high-end hitting, investing 75 % of his funds in Jose Altuve, Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon, Gary Sanchez and Aaron Choose. He needed to go the thrifty route at beginning pitcher, and it exhibits, along with his two costliest each presenting main danger and the remainder of his employees providing little to no chance of high-end manufacturing. That is to not say Tanner Roark and Dinelson Lamet aren’t helpful or intriguing, but when they’re among the many greatest he has, his drawback is just about locked in.
I spent considerably much less on hitting than Chris, however what? I feel mine is fairly good. I nonetheless acquired top-two gamers at two of the scarcest positions, catcher and second base, and 6 hitters in all who would go off the board within the first eight rounds of any draft. My outfield is weak, nevertheless it’s aggressive sufficient.
After which there’s Heath, who left himself subsequent to nothing to spend on hitting, and as you may count on, the hitter portion of his lineup is … wait, what?
H-how did he do this?
Do not get me incorrect: It is the worst assortment of hitters among the many three groups, however extra due to draw back than upside. Each one in every of his beginning 9 belongs in a beginning 9 on this league, and solely two value him double-digit . Not a one value him as a lot as $15.
Positive, there are potential pitfalls, particularly given the age of among the hitters. However the 2018 season will not go incorrect for all of them, and the place it does go incorrect, he has loads of different locations to show. Shoot, I acquired Ryan Zimmerman and Mike Moustakas on my bench for a buck every simply because it appeared loopy no one needed them after the numbers they only put up. Nevertheless it’s not like I’ve a spot to play them. Might Heath make me a gorgeous supply if it got here to that? Yeah, he in all probability might. And I am in all probability not the one one with that type of hitter extra, a few of which (by the way in which) is bound to wind up on the waiver wire.
Backside line is it will take considerably much less for his lineup to measure as much as mine than my pitching to measure as much as his — and I say that even understanding my pitching is clearly the second greatest. And whereas Heath might have taken it a bit too far with the $15 he spent on Jon Lester, I got here away pondering I personally ought to have gone farther.
There’s simply an excessive amount of interchangeability amongst all however the highest-end hitters to shrug off the large benefits that may be gained from high-end beginning pitchers.
So who all had a front-row seat to this insanity?
Brant Chesser, Baseball HQ
Heath Cummings, CBS Sports activities
Kevin Jebens, Baseball Prospectus
