In the early days slipped into Rhodelite to assassinate Cyran but was caught in one of Clavis's schemes and could not return. Didn't die but couldn't live either. So she's hanging out with those two weirdos now /aff

Many wanted to kill her at first. Some still do. She's pretty smug about it.

Likes: the smell of orange trees in bloom. Good bread. White asparagus. Garlic.

Dislikes: sarcasm and self-deprecation jokes are the bane of her existence.

Characteristics: thick accent. Pragmatic.

Weaknesses:

(cease resistance, your joke is about to be explained),

subtle in intentions but not socially.

Incredible foresight but terrible luck.

Little alcohol tolerance (oh the SHAME) but the trick is consuming some yeast before the night out.

Creative outlet: engineering.

Unintentionally finds Clavis' traps and feels compelled to comment on their faultiness. Clavis takes mental notes to improve later. (Much to Sariel's chagrin) not often but sometimes dismantles parts or tinkers with the occasional trap (much to Clavis' chagrin)

hey, gang! miss me? no? too bad, because i miss you. i think about you all the time. i hope the year has treated you well. this is, what, the third, fourth year i've done a year-in-review post? have i done more than that? it's after midnight. i can't be bothered to check. i fear a lot of the mysteries of getting older, but i will say, i don't mind that it's easier to shrug certain things off. i look back on all the times i hid from some scary fandom discourse and go, "god, why did i care?" it helps to have other things going on.

on the other hand, i guess 2024 was the year of finding out what happens when you put everything into your day job and leave nothing for the weekend. it was a wild year at work, which i assume is normal as a game ramps up to ship. i gave a lot, which was good! i'd be lying if i said it didn't take a lot out of me. important people at trade shows have now seen things i wrote! i got to work with voice actors! good news: a lot of your faves are great people! i also made, like, no progress on any of my own projects except the picrew, which i still chip away at. yes, i still draw. more on that later.

one or two people in my coworkers-turned-friends circle have broached the subject of occupational burnout and whether i've reached it yet. as i said last year, i remember what voltage burnout felt like, and it took a much weirder, angrier journey to get me there. it's kind that they're looking out for me, though. i think it's something all creative people could stand to keep an eye on. a buddy of mine even gave a GDC talk about it. it's a shame GDC is so stingy with access to its talks. at least this article has a great summary if you're interested in learning more.

there were other things, though. my mother broke her hip in june, which forced me into a caregiver role that i'm not suited to. don't worry, she's fine now. i love her, so it was important to me, but it didn't leave a lot of time to sit and write for fun. i started what i thought would be a casual fanfic project, wildly over-scoped it, and made a ton of work for myself. i outlined an original story about a difficult, personal subject and a culture i'm descended from, but not really familiar with. there's a lot of pressure to do it right, is what i'm saying. i'm taking the only path i can think of, which is to bury myself in research. the trouble is, a lot of the literature about this time and place is also very challenging, so it burns a lot of brain calories. it's a far cry from what usually gets me to start a story, which is "i want these characters to sleep together. let's see where it goes."

in a different time, i would've taken this struggle as an omen that i wasn't the right person to write this story and abandoned it. it's critical that i don't take the coward's way out this time if i'm going to honor the question i asked at the end of last year. "what is my work saying?" my mother told me the same thing a few months ago: "i think you're a good writer, you just need to find good things to say." i take that to mean i have to write closer to real experiences, which means including the parts i don't like: disappointment, loss, mistakes, uncertainty. i had all of this year to figure out how, and the evidence shows i didn't. i don't know what to say. "oh well?" maybe you can't put a deadline on these things. in the meantime, hercule and aida deserve more stories (it's an hercule and aida story), and i want more people to know about them, and maybe i can say something real through them.

this was also the year that i reckoned with the other side of "all it takes is money to make problems go away." i was able to travel, i mean really travel, for the first time. all it took was being able to throw a chunk of my salary at it. i had some shipping drama [sorry, not the romantic kind] where i had no choice but to pony up a ton of customs fees. my arm PT didn't work, so i'll have to try a specialist who's out of my insurance network and pay full price to see them. this must be what they call "being a successful adult." i thought it'd look different. i wanted to live in the city and have a hot, mysterious boyfriend. well, i can still live closer to the city if i keep saving up for that house, and maybe some hot, mysterious guy will take pity on me someday. do you think they like 32-year-olds who play video games and have flat chests? i went all the way to paris and still didn't find out. damn! 🤌

nah, i'm kidding. i mean, i'm not, but i have other things to worry about. as i mentioned above, things with my arm have taken a curious turn. after six and a half years of assuming i had tendinitis, i found out, not only is it likely not that, i may not be injured at all. the particulars of this theory get out into the weeds of neuromuscular science, so i'll only bore you with them if you want me to. the point is, if any of it holds water, it would go a long way toward explaining why none of the typical rest/heat/stretching/strengthening protocols have worked. it's actually unfathomable how much effort i've put into solving this mystery just so i can get back to drawing fictional people kissing. you can call my creative work boring or predictable or whatever you want, but never say i haven't committed to the bit.

i don't tend to read my previous years-in-review. this year, i did, because i sensed i was grappling with a lot of the same things as last year. there's nothing i hate like being repetitive. not that you would know from the way i keep writing the same three character archetypes. humor me here. i was all set to keep whining until i reminded myself how 2023 had gone, and i thought, "geez. it wasn't that bad." nobody i love died, for a start. my health is better. i have some unread books sitting around. as terrible as 2023 was, i survived it. if you're reading this, you did too.

so here's what i'm going to do. i think you should do it with me, though whether i'm in any position to give advice is up to you. i'm not going to make any predictions about whether 2025 will be bad or good. i'm just going to see what happens. deal? all right. we'll check in next year. you'd better be there!

Hi, Mod Moose here, and I come bearing OCs. So, the one side character I found myself really latching onto for some reason was Becky Little, and I couldn't help but wonder what her life at Harvard was like. And I had OCs that I've more or less had for years across different fandoms, so…

This is Yoshimi and Yuri Mizuno (Yoshi on the left, Yuri on the right), third-generation (Sansei) Japanese-American identical twins from Queens, NYC. And there is a LOT to unpack with them, so there's more after the jump.

In the story I have made up in my head and would write if I had any writing talent, Becky arrives at Harvard in 1996 and meets these two among her housemates. She ends up roommates with Yoshi, but is initially closer with Yuri, as Yoshi's pretty quiet and reserved. However, over time she bonds with Yoshi, as they find that they have a bit more in common than they thought.

Becky also had a boyfriend in Harvard. Emphasis on "had". When she went to visit her family in "The Amazing Becky Little", Yoshi and Yuri found that Becky's boyfriend was cheating on her. And when Becky returned, Yoshi told her the bad news, as they were roommates and it'd probably be better for Becky to hear something like this in a one-on-one setting. Becky is of course devastated (and this is on top of her realizing during her family visit that she can be kinda insufferable and even insensitive without meaning to), but greatly appreciates Yoshi telling her. After this, they truly become friends… and eventually, much more. SO much more.

So that's where they fit in with Becky and the PA lore in general. As for Yoshi and Yuri themselves, again, there's a LOT to unpack with them. They were born in 1979, and were the best of friends from the beginning. They're identical twins, but have distinct looks and personalities - Yoshi's sarcastic, cheeky, and really cool (or at least, she tries to be), but she's also cynical and prone to gloominess, for reasons I'll go over in a bit. Meanwhile, Yuri's like the sweetest person on the planet, is somewhat more reserved, and her sense of humor is a bit more dry.

They also had a younger brother named Taro. Sadly, emphasis on "had". In 1992, when Yoshi was just twelve and Taro was just eight, they were in the car with their dad Goro (Yuri was elsewhere, with their mom Emi) when they got in a horrible wreck thanks to a drunk driver. And the impact hit the back of the car, where Yoshi and Taro were sitting. While Goro suffered from some broken bones, Yoshi was very badly injured, and her left arm in particular was so damaged that it had to be amputated. And Taro was killed on impact. This dark, tragic event hangs over the Mizuno family, especially Yoshi, who suffers from severe survivor's guilt and still has nightmares about it, all these years later. They had his ashes made into red heart gems that they wear in matching necklaces, to honor their little bro.

To end this on a lighter note, they also grow close to Nicky, who they of course meet through Becky, and end up becoming like her second and third older sister figures. When Nicky moves to NYC after attending Harvard, she bunks with Yuri, who lives alone in her own house right next to Becky and Yoshi's. And we're entering headcanon-for-the-show territory here, but when Nicky moves back to Hazelnut shortly after the events of "The Finale", Becky stays with her girlfriend/future wife and future sister-in-law in NYC, but they still keep in touch with Nicky and speak quite often on the phone and the like.

(OH, I guess I should elaborate on Nicky moving back to Hazelnut, huh. So… I headcanon that after the events of that episode, Nicky was let go from her job at the Wall Street Journal. Because she kiiinda sooorta physically attacked the President of the United States, Mark Hamill (god I love this show lmao). Yuri, who's a writer for the Journal and helped get Nicky the job, doesn't hold it against her (aside from some gentle teasing about "attacking Luke Skywalker") and is happy to be her reference for any new jobs she might take.)

Now for a bit about Yoshi and Yuri individually.

Yoshi

Yoshi is a huge, huge, HUGE hip-hop fan. It's practically her passion, her special interest. And it seems kinda funny at first (and I guess it is - there's some Michael Bolton in Office Space energy), but she's 100% serious about her love for the genre and is super knowledgeable about it. And she was able to grow up with hip-hop as it evolved from its inception in the late '70s, which is pretty cool. (In case you can't tell, this is very much Author Appeal for Mod Moose.) But what's REALLY funny? Becky Little's girlfriend being REALLY into hardcore gangsta rap.

She's a huge Star Wars fan - the movies, the books, the video games, you name it. Pretty much everything that made up the Star Wars Expanded Universe, at least before the Disney era. She also loves animation, her favorites being Batman: The Animated Series and, come 2011, Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

She loves aviation, and has wanted to be a pilot since she was a kid. And eventually, after saving up, she gets her pilot's license and her own small plane, which becomes her baby. And yes, she loves giving Becky flights.

And of course, she has one arm and wears a prosthetic. It took her a while to get the hang of having one arm, but she's adapted really well and can even do stuff like play some video games, using special one-handed controllers or even just some crazy techniques.

Speaking of, she loves video games and playing co-op games with Yuri. Her two favorites are Sonic the Hedgehog and Doom.

As for what Yoshi does for a living… she becomes a psychiatrist. Specifically, a child psychiatrist who specializes in grief counseling. Because she knows all too well what that's like, and wants to be there for kids going through similar situations to what she went through.

She's a lesbian. And her gay awakening was watching Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" video, who then became her first celebrity crush. And... I headcanon that a real Becky would look a awful lot like Olivia :D

Yuri (I don't have AS much about her, since she's a relatively newer OC)

Yuri's favorite music is pop/R&B, especially from the '80s. In fact, she's a bit of a Disco Dan (Disco Diane?) regarding the '80s - which meant she fit right into the early '00s when '80s nostalgia really took off.

She's an avid reader, her favorite genre being horror. She also becomes a writer - first writing articles for the Wall Street Journal, and eventually writing her own fiction and non-fiction books.

She's a huge Star Trek fan (her favorite is The Next Generation). Leading to a lot of playful feuding with Yoshi over what's better, Star Trek or Star Wars. Yuri's a bit of a film buff in general, and also loves animation, her faves being Jem and Sailor Moon.

She loves video games too, especially co-op with Yoshi. Her favorite is… also Sonic the Hedgehog.

She's a major space nerd. One of her most prized possessions is a badass telescope, and looks through it at the night sky every night.

Again, she's one of the sweetest people on the planet, but… don't make her mad. She doesn't get enraged like Nicky, but instead she goes into "tranquil fury" mode and it's legit unnerving.

She's aro/ace. She's a total shipper on deck for Yoshi and Becky, but is not interested in getting into a romantic relationship herself.

Also, my head-casting for them is the amazing Kimiko Glenn, using her normal speaking voice for Yoshi, and a somewhat lower voice for Yuri. Which would be funny, because given their personalities, you'd expect Yoshi and Yuri to have the opposite voices.

so... mentioned i've talk about my selfship with Ken so here we go... my OC is called Yukari Shakuyaku (17 years old high school girl), and BASICALLY she's like Ken's step sister. basically his dad married her mom and bam! siblings.

Shakuyaku is shy, tall (172cm) and meek, whiiich was kind of misinterpreted by Ken because he thought she was scary. so yes, he was a tad afraid of her at first, even thinking she was secretly some sort of yokai (to be lore specific, Hachisaku-sama, a tall yokai lady that kidnaps children). no wonder he was scared.

as for Shakuyaku, she didn't really mind him. she always lived her life as an only child, so basically all she was doing was trying to adjust to this new life AND more focused on her school tests too.

once Ken got used to her, he started to find her quite annoying. why is she so shy? why is she so silent? why is she so... pretty. it kind of annoyed him. and slowly Shakuyaku started to care more for him like a little brother. and eventually, Ken accepted and began liking his big sister too.

they often go out together, she picks him up at school sometimes, he likes to play rock paper scissors with her, he likes her hugs, her soft small breasts, her smile, her voice, he loves her! honestly, both are very thankful for being siblings. they love sleeping together, talk together, eat together... ahh...

And since you gave me the opportunity lmao I'll talk about my OC too! (And also because I love talking about it lol)

Her name is Mau Hibino (麻羽 日比野), she is 16 years old (2 years older than Mob) and 178cm tall (about 20cm/8 inches taller than Mob lol)

She follows the Kogal style and is wayy too cool for Mob lol

She and Mob have known each other since childhood, so their relationship has that teasing but affectionate 'OneeShota dynamic' (her personality is like, a kind of 'Sunao Cool' mixed with that 'Gyaru knack', you know? Lol)

She treats Mob casually, calls him "Mob-kun" or "Shigeo", and just naturally supports him without making a big deal out of it. She’s got a super stable and unbothered personality.

Oh, and since she’s so much taller than him, she absolutely loves teasing him about it. Like, "Mob-kun, did you grow yet? Nope? Tragic." But at the same time, she’s always fixing his hair, casually holding his hand in crowds, and just being effortlessly smooth in ways that break Mob’s brain lmao

She also gives him little makeovers sometimes. Not a full gyaru transformation or anything, just "Mob-kun, your nails are a mess. Sit down." or "Your hair’s all over the place. Here, lemme fix it."

Basically, she’s the older, taller, stylish, effortlessly cool girl who keeps Mob on his toes. And the best part? She totally knows he has a little crush on her and just lets him struggle with it lol

And, Mau knows Reigen is full of shit

The first time she met him, she took one look at him, then looked at Mob like, "Mob-kun… you’re really working for this guy?" She doesn’t necessarily hate him—she actually thinks he’s kinda funny—but she’s also not buying a single word he says.

That being said, she respects that he actually cares about Mob (in his weird, scammer-y way). She might side-eye his business, but she’s not gonna step in unless she thinks he’s really taking advantage of Mob. And even though she loves teasing people, she never outright calls Reigen a fraud—she just lets her expressions do all the talking

And Mob? Mob doesn’t know how to process her. At all lmao

He’s known her since childhood, so at first, he just thought of her as his cool older friend. But now that he’s older? Oh boy.

Mob thinks she’s really pretty. Like, undeniably, DISTRACTINGLY pretty. But also a little intimidating because she’s so relaxed and effortlessly smooth about everything. When she fixes his hair or holds his hand without making a big deal out of it, his brain just malfunctions lmao

But basically, Mob respects Mau a lot, but he also has no clue how to deal with her, and it’s kind of adorable <3

And about Ritsu... First of all, he’s known her since childhood, so he’s always seen her as this older, effortlessly cool figure who used to hang around Mob. But here’s the thing—Ritsu has never quite understood her.

As a kid, he used to think she was lazy. Like, “Why is she always slouching? Why does she act like nothing is a big deal?” Meanwhile, Mob thought the exact opposite—he saw Mau as cool and confident, while Ritsu thought she was just… weirdly unbothered by everything.

Now that he’s older, Ritsu still doesn’t get her, but he at least acknowledges that she’s a good person. She’s always been nice to Mob (even if she teases him to death) and she never acts fake—what you see is what you get.

But at the same time… she annoys him.

Not in a serious way, but more in a “Why are you like this?” way. Mau just lives in a completely different world than Ritsu. It drives him insane.

Also, he hates how easily she flusters Mob. Like, every time Mob short-circuits because of her teasing, Ritsu is just standing there like, “Can you please stop messing with my brother?” But Mau just smirks at him like, “Aw, Ritsu, are you jealous?” and that’s when he wants to disappear.

Oof! I think I said everything I had to say about her! Lmao

And since I loved this conversation (and I write a lot about them lmao), here's a "little convo" between them lol:

(Mob is sitting on a park bench, focused on a book. Mau, as always, is chilling next to him, casually messing with her phone. After a moment, she turns to him with a smirk.)

Mau: "Hey, Mob-kun, you ever kissed a girl before?"

(Mob chokes on absolutely nothing.)

Mob: "W-What?"

Mau: (Leaning in, resting her chin on her palm.) "Just wondering. You’re at that age, right?" (Grinning.) "Bet you haven’t, huh?"

(Mob stiffens, gripping his book like it’s his last lifeline. Mau watches him struggle, then suddenly—she sticks out her tongue, revealing the silver glint of her piercing.)

Mau: "See this?" (She flicks her tongue out playfully, the metal catching the light.)

(Mob stares. He absolutely should not be looking, but his brain has completely blue-screened.)

Mau: (Smirking.) "I got it last year. Hurts like hell at first, but now? Feels kinda nice." (Tilts her head.) "Bet you’re curious, huh?"

Mob: (Voice cracking.) "C-Curious about what?!"

(Mau grins. Oh, he made that too easy.)

Mau: "What it feels like."

(Mob.exe has stopped working.)

(She watches as his entire face turns bright red, eyes darting anywhere but her mouth. It’s so painfully easy to fluster him, and she loves every second of it.)

Mau: (Teasing.) "Relax, Mob-kun. I’m just messing with you." (Leans back with a lazy stretch, completely unbothered.) "Unless… you actually wanna find out?"

(Mob short-circuits. His soul ascends to the astral plane. His body is still on the bench, but his consciousness is gone.)

(Mau, fully entertained, just laughs and ruffles his hair.)

Mau: "Aw, you’re too cute. Maybe when you’re older, Mob-kun." (Winks.)

(Mob, still buffering, says absolutely nothing. Somewhere in the distance, Reigen sneezes and Ritsu frowns.)

Sanctitas Livia! Former Crown Princess of the Bellona Empire!

If you know me, you know I love Antiquity so much that I go to university for it, so eventually, I had to create an OC that was very Roman. Aurelia was the warmup, but Livia is really the most Roman OC I have ever created. And of course she's also a One Piece OC.

Look at that glorious lorica segmentata! The shin guards, the caligae, the lorica manica, the layers beneath that you can't even see!

Alrighty, here we go.

Time for rambles

But we're doing it a little differently this time. Instead of me just telling you my thoughts, I'll take you on the journey I went on to finish this piece and explain my thoughts along the way.

Day 1 - The Research

I really don't have a lot to say here, I just did a lot of research. One of the sources that helped the most for this was this YouTube video here which explains the lorica segmentata (aka your stereotypical legionary armor) in detail and this one where a historian (I believe) messes with talks to a bunch of re-enactors.

At the end of the day, I ended up with this:

The reference images on the left are ones I googled and sadly didn't keep the sources for. The base is this one by Bases-Xs (that I would later edit and slightly frankendoll) and the images on the right are made with HeroForge and the Tiefling Maker, my most beloved picrew.

You can see that, on the left, I've got references for a centurion helmet - yes, centurions had those kinds of headdresses, the ones you usually see are incorrect - the lorica segmentata, various versions of the lorica manica (aka that arm brace thingy) and the complete legionary fit.

With this as a base to work with, I went to bed. The next day would be my birthday and I had invited a fellow historian and artist over to bounce ideas off of because I was dreading how to make the lorica segmentata, which is very square in shape, work on a female body with curves.

But that was an issue for another day.

Day 2 - Fortuna Minervaque me adiuvent.

That Latin sentence means "May Fortuna and Minerva help me" and it's exactly what this day's motto would turn out to be. My historian friend got sick and couldn't come, so I was left to face the armor issue on my own.

And so it begins.

As you can see, I started the drawing process with my sanity fully intact. I didn't just want wings glued to the head, I wanted feathered ears! Kinda like elf ears, pointing upwards, but like if elf ears if they grew feathers, y'know. Eventually, I figured it out.

So, I had one ear. The second one took some experimenting, but I did it. Then, I needed to capture Livia's essence.

Perfect.

A little snack for dinner later...

That little braid was more complicated to draw than you would think. You see, the feathered ears and braid - and face markings that you'll see later - are very important to Livia's species, an original species that I put into the world of One Piece. They don't have a name yet but I'm having a blast with them. Maybe I'll make a post about them one day.

One little crisis and about an hour later, we had a tunic and our first deviation from historical accuracy.

Well, technically, the first deviation would've been the feathered ears and giving this armor to a woman but... y'know.

The thing about the Roman tunica is that it was very wide, in fact it was almost as wide as it was long. All that excess fabric would pile up under the armor and at the armpits - and I didn't want that for Livia. So I decided to give her more tailored sleeves and to tie the tunica beneath the bust and at the waist instead of at the hip and give it less volume in general to avoid the fabric piling up.

You can also see a sneaky new reference at the bottom right there. It's a screenshot from the first video I linked above and would be vital for helping me figure out the armor issue.

What you can see here is a thick scarf around the neck to avoid the armor plates cutting into your throat as well as some generous padding. Like they say in the video, this padding is more experimental history since none of this sort of padding has been preserved. Logically, since organic materials don't usually last as long as, for example, metal does. But padding would be really practical if you're wearing armor since armor is heavy and you don't really want it cutting into you. Your tunic won't do much to protect you there. Also, it smooths out the curves, which is very practical for this very specific situation we're dealing with there.

However, I was still ecstatic about having to figure out the armor.

See, the lorica segmentata is a genius piece of equipment, but it's really only genius for men since it's optimal for a square body type. I had to figure out a way to make it work for Livia without creating critical weak spots and without inviting people to stab her in the boobs.

Generally, having boobs isn't very optimal for armor. You have to find a way to make the armor fit around them, still leave a bit of breathing room, and for goodness' sake don't make boob plates because those are horrible in case of an impact. You generally want a shape that deflects blows and, additionally, I had to deal with the layering of the lorica segmentata without creating a gap where someone could stab her in the tits.

Eventually, I came up with this:

This design is based off the Corbridge A type lorica segmentata, the same one shown in the video that I got the screenshots from. Generally, this type of armor consists of four parts - the two shoulder parts and the two torso parts. You wouldn't usually be able to take it apart like this since those top two plates here would belong to the shoulder parts and would actually be the ones where you link the shoulders to the torso. You can see the hook and eyes just above the bust.

Once you have your two halves - the shoulder and torso pieced together for both left and right - you'd lace them together and buckle them up at the top - which I also drew in here. As you can see, I stopped the armor above the belly button so that Livia would still be able to bend. The two bottom plates also aren't laced, which is something that I copied directly from the authentic historical armor and I assume is for ease of movement while bending and turning.

And this was where I left it for the day. I was exhausted, I had lost all of my braincells on the way, but damn was I proud.

Day 3 - Perserverance is a virtue, right?

Clearly, the events of the last day were still affecting me since I forgot to have breakfast that morning. So, I "fixed it" with an early lunch and got right back to it.

As you can see, I had lots of fun, or rather my drawing program did. The reason why I kept adding more reference images is because the shoulder pieces are actually a lot more complicated than just "Haha lace iron halfpipes together". I had to really get a feel for how they worked before I could get around to drawing them, and the ever-important video came in clutch.

As you can see, there's hinges on the two inner shoulder pieces. There are also hinges at the back, so the two innermost shoulder pieces are actually three plates each. This is for maximum ease of movement. You'd think that this kind of armor would be restrictive, but you can actually raise your arms pretty high with this. Makes sense since the legionaries still had to throw their pila/javelins and fight. You can also see a weak point of the armor here - look at how open those shoulders are! You're not stabbing into flesh when you stab in there, but it's definitely a weak point because you could easily slide between the plates here.

Next in line was the lorica manica aka the arm brace.

This one wasn't really difficult in construction, it just took a lot of perserverance and energy to draw all those little plates. If you remember, I had two references for the lorica manica, one where the foremost plates were on the bottom and one where they were on top. I decided to go for the latter version because the former is just stupid. Go back to look at that reference and tell me you couldn't jsut easily shove a sword in there! So, lower plates on top to leave no room for the sword to go in-between. Also smaller plates for better bending and coverage, and of course they're laced.

You can hardly see it but there's also lacing at the top. The way I imagine it, though I don't know for sure, is that the arm piece would probably be attached to the leather straps holding the shoulder pieces together. That way it stays in place and won't fall off.

And if you're wondering why she only wears one arm brace - the other arm gets a big-ass shield.

Then I got myself some references for the sandals aka caligae, cooked up some shin guards (which would only be worn by officers), added the belt, and...

At this point, I was tired and everything hurt. So, I decided to call it quits for the day.

Whether Roman soldiers' tunics were red is actually something I put a lot of research into. It's a common myth and it has some footing but in the end it's not really likely that they were that uniform. Still, I kept the red because Livia is a (former) crown princess and the crown prince/princess's signature color is red

The armor would historically been made of iron but Livia's would most likely be a special kind of steel. The hinges, decorations on her belt, and shin guards are made of brass.

The laurel wreath is part of Livia's personal emblem as well as her empire's crest.

I kinda love how the circular engraving under the first decorative piece on the middle of the shin guard looks like a bird staring at you. It was an accident but I kept it <3

Very important! Foot wraps under the sandals so you don't get blisters.

Meet Serval! She is one of my Fire Emblem Engage Oc's I made and am showing for @fe-oc-week (hope its okay that i tagged). She comes from an alternate universe where Veyle becomes a divine dragon and Alear doesn't.

She, along with some other oc's I might reveal later, are dragons unrelated to both divine dragons and fell dragons. The three of them, after going to different places in Elyos, acquire 3 Emblems. Serval finds Emblem Shez in the deserts of Solm.

Serval purposefully looks similar to Arval, which is why I paired her to Shez.

Serval, along with her companions, hope to make a name for themselves by gaining these emblems. They are shunned from most places as they're seen as inhuman monsters who are neither divine nor fell.

After the word gets out about them, Veyle (who has Emblem Alphonse and Sharrena) reaches out to them to gain their aid their help in defeating Sombron.

Details About Serval:

- She's very out there compared to her companions and is the one who posed the idea for them to gain emblems

- She can transform into a dragon but doesn't like to unless absolutely needed

- She's the youngest between her and her companions

- She wields a bow and arrow

- She likes singing and drawing, though she's really not that good at it

- She and Emblem Shez get in consistent petty arguments just like Shez and Arval did

I guess I'll just start by showing what they look like, which I made in a Picrew, like always (if anyone wants the link to the Picrew let me know, I use this one all the time lol)

So this is Diana (she's actually supposed to have light blonde hair, not white, I'm a bit lazy to change the photo rn but yeah):

I'm probably gonna skip a lot of details in this (but if you want more details you can always DM me), but the gist of it is Cal and Diana had been dating for a very short amount of time (think 2-4 months), and one day while in Diana's house, Calliope finds out that Diana eats people, and she gets freaked out, and Diana tries to explain herself because she does it out of love, but Calliope just leaves, and she doesn't do the "call the police" thing (though she does almost do it) but she just spends a couple of days without talking to Diana and just thinking by herself, and she realizes after a while that she's not just thinking "holy shit she's insane" but she's also thinking "I want to see her again, I need to see her again", and it's this mix of thoughts "she's insane what's wrong with her I love her we need to still be together but why she's EATING PEOPLE-"

Anyway a couple days later Calliope goes back to Diana's house, and when Diana opens the door for her Cal's just like "Show me," and Diana's like "Show you what?" And Cal's like "Show me how you do it. Eat" (those aren't the exact words but it's just to give you an idea of what happens)

And so she does that, she lets Calliope in and she takes a part from one of the bodies she has and she cooks it and eats it and Calliope's watching her do all of that, and while a part of her's still like "what the fuck am I doing she's insaneee", what she's finding is more of... it's not as bad as she imagined it would be. Gruesome, sure, but not as much as she feared. And she realizes not just that she doesn't mind, but also that... she kind of gets it. There's something about how Diana does everything that makes her believe her when she says that she does this out of love. So after the wonderful dinner they have a basically sort of Q&A where Calliope lets Diana speak, explain herself, and she listens, and once they're done Calliope says she's gonna think about this for a couple more days, and leaves, and then she does come back some days later and says that she's still very much in love with Diana and that she wants to be with her and support her in all her ways of showing love

So that's basically like the first chapter in their story, as you can tell I skipped out on some details, mainly because there's some stuff about it that I might change, like I said this is all still a huuge WIP, but that's basically the start of their relationship. Btw they're both insane, Calliope later starts killing people, but I don't think I'm gonna tell you about that in detail because all of the scenes I had for that are even bigger WIPs than what I just told you and I'll probably have to re-write all of them anyway, just know their dynamic later turns into "Calliope kills people and Diana eats them"

But at the heart of the story is just... fucked up messed up ways of love, I'd say, both because of Diana's cannibalism being fundamented on it being a way for her to show love in the deepest most profound manner she can think of, and Calliope later becoming fully devoted to doing everything just for Diana (she starts killing people to keep Diana safe, at least in her eyes). That's something that I always want to emphasize on whenever I'm talking about them to my friends or something, they're not "oohh they're delusional so that's why they're together," like yeah they are fucked up, but they truly are both in love with each other in the deepest way you can think of, like the story would not happen the way it does if they weren't in love with each other. This, too, is yuri

Also in case you're wondering if Diana's going to eat Calliope at some point too, I still don't know but for now, taking into account how willing Calliope is to be eaten and how willing Diana is to eat the people she loves, the answer is a "probably." At the very least Calliope is willing to sacrifice a couple fingers to sate her girlfriend's needs (she's willing to sacrifice a lot more but Diana might feel bad about that so she's cool with settling for some fingers. At least for a while)

Aaaaannnnnd yeah, that's about all I can think of, I am pouring my heart out to you and I hope you will take it in gentle hands like a wounded animal, because that's how I feel after typing Calliope and Diana's story for the fourth time in my life. A wounded animal.

Bella is from a poorer family and doesn't have many friends, but she does well in school. Unfortunately, she doesn't have many weapons skills. She is intelligent and logical and she can easily locate water food and shelter but is very physically weak. She doesn't possess the ability to hunt so even if she found food she'd have no way of getting it, and she may also be too weak to build her own shelter. She has low iron and is often dizzy, which is why she's so pale and struggles with balance.

Her parents are divorced. Her father works in a lumber plant and her mother isn't mentally there. She's spontaneous and struggles with forusing to do any sort of job. To provide for the family Bella got a part-time job as Carlisle's secretary. Her father wanted to teach Bella how to use an Axe but he tried once and she hurt her leg very badly. He feels guilty and is too afraid to try again.

Esme Anne Cullen

Age: 46

Gender: Female

Skill(s): Survival skills, camouflage, handcrafts (painting, drawing, sculpting & carpentry), cooking

Esme won her games 29 years ago at 17 (Carlisle was 13 at the time). She won by hiding in trees and blending in and living off the vegetation in the arena. She made traps to catch the small rodents for food. (She loves small animals and ever since the games she's made sure to keep them around.) She killed 5 tributes separately by throwing and using a slingshot to slam rocks into their heads from high up in the trees. 

Carlisle Cullen

Carlisle won his games 27 years ago at 16 (Esme was 19 by then) by poisoning the last career's food supply. It was an instantaneous death and Carlisle's only kill, but he still feels very guilty.

In my Cult tho(in game) if she was a Follower on in it, her follower form would be the Llama/Alpaca Follower due to how Fluffy & Messy she look with Leaves Covering her Black Floofy Wooly Hair & her Crown(which she got as a Welcome gift from Chemach whom she adores for her "interesting personality") and her Alpaca form would be married to Shamura & Lambert. & would also try her best to become besties with Leshy, Heket & Kallamar themselves aswell as already becoming Besties with Lamb's Beloved Wife Trio Samantha, Lady Dimistru(Dimmi) & M3gan.

Let's talk about Kau'i!

Kau'i started as the nebulous idea of a Poison-Type pokémon specialist for a journey style fic to be about. As I've said before, I was inspired heavily by Incarnated Whisp's 'The Type Specialist' and 'Ghost Specialist', and since they'd already done Ghost, my other favorite type, I went for Poison.

The Trash Girl is a Poison-Type Expert on the whole was conceptualized and ideated very fast, there were maybe three or four weeks between having the idle thought 'Mmm, Poison-Type specialist' and releasing chapters 1 and 2 on the same day with a full outline of the island challenge arc waiting for me.

Role in the story came first, Kau'i was always meant to be a protagonist with some grime to her, to the point where alot of my decision making came from deciding which evil team I wanted her to be a part of. The aesthetics followed soon after.

Name, I guess. Part of the point of the project is lowering the ber for myself, so I didn't worry over taking alot of my own personality and putting it in Kau'i.

Kau'i is a Hawaiian name meaning "beautiful girl", and I love names with seemingly ill-fitting meanings.

Kau'i's design is primarily driven by fitting her into the Poison-Type theme. She's punky, her clothes are covered in scavenged patches and full of pockets, and her hair is a tangled mess. She's short mostly cause I was short as a kid, and the rest of the blanks I filled in with picrews.

Hard to say, but I like her changing her hair color every few chapters, so let's go with that.

Me, almost entirely. Makes her easier to write and more real feeling. There's a few pieces I keep track of that are different to me, and she's grown apart from me a whole lot, but we're very similar.

Protagonist. Can't put her through as many of the horrors if she's off screen too much.

That'd be getting into spoilers, but it is a pokémon fanfic. I'll save my tragic endings for other characters, worry later.

There's too much me in the blending pot to really tell from my perspective.

Kau'i, being the main character, gets alot more development than can be fit in one song, and I haven't started doing full character playlists yet. 'These Boots Are Made For Walkin'' represents her rivalry with Gladion pretty well though, which is why I recommended it as background music for Chp. 36.

On the nasally side for a girl her age, other than that, not really.

"pioneering something called 'gritted teeth optimism' where everything is gonna turn out okay even if i have to bite and claw and gnash my way through it", a post by wuntrum here on Tumblr, guided my understanding of the Poison-Type and of Kau'i's character so hard when I first started writing. I missed that my theme had shifted away from "making the best of a bad situation" because I just was thinking about that soooo much.

I made a variation of the "Christ you are extremely fucking selfish, die" meme with my poor drawing skills for Chp. 29.

A white/blue circle behind her for normal Pokémon Kau'i, a white/gray rectangle behind her for the Parahumans crossover version of Kau'i. No particular reason :)

Kau'i is an orphan with no living relatives. Team Skull acts as a sort of family for her, as do Hapu and Hama before that, but neither truly fills the role. Her closest connections are her pokémon.

Best: She's quite rude. Worst: I accidentally put too much of my own transgender sauce into her when she's supposed to be cis. That's more on me, but she will be going through the horrors for that transgression nonetheless.

By writing Kau'i so much, I've gotten more in touch with my inner trash girl. I pick up litter more and am working to repair my old worn down clothes instead of getting rid of them. One man's trash should go in the trash, but your treasures shouldn't have to.

Diabolik Lovers: An Angel's Embrace AU - Sofia's relationships with the Tsukinami Family 🥀

Carla Tsukinami 👑

Carla is Sofia's uncle through her mother Angelica: they share the same biological father, Giesbach Tsukinami, the previous First Blood king until his demise.

When Carla and his younger brother Shin sent their wolves to attack the Sakamaki mansion and bring Yui to them, one of the wolves got into a scuffle with the hellhound Howl when it got too close to Sofia and her mother Angelica. The wolf had recognized their scent as being that of a First Blood, and left to report to its masters about its discovery when the wolf and the rest of the pack left.

Carla and Shin were both shocked to learn that there was a First Blood and her hybrid child (Angelica and Sofia) living with the Sakamakis, they had planned to not only capture Yui and make her their shared bride, but to do the same with Angelica so they could repopulate the First Blood race (like check the wiki, I'm pretty sure it states that Carla and Shin were planning to do this with Cordelia's mother, their aunt Menae, and later her when they realized she was dead). For Sofia, Carla and Shin agreed that they'd raise her as their own and how to be a proper First Blood and Tsukinami due to her young age.

Upon meeting Angelica and Sofia for the first time, Carla and his brother were very shocked to see that they resembled Carmen, their father's bodyguard from back when their parents were alive, and he immediately realized their connection to them. Carla was aware of his father's affair with his bodyguard, but he never thought that it'd result in him getting a sister and niece.

When Carla realizes this, he failed to realize in time that Angelica had charged at him with a sword, telling him to "stay away from her family", allowing him to realize that the full moon that gives First Bloods power was disappearing. An injured Carla and a pissed off Shin realized that they had to retreat, but not before they grabbed ahold of Sofia and took her with them.

Upon taking Sofia with them to the old Tsukinami castle, where they locked her in an old nursery and while Carla rested, Shin was to keep an eye on the girl so she didn't try anything.

As Carla rested, he tried to use this moment to make a plan with Sofia as a bargaining chip to get the Sakamakis and the Mukamis (will explain later with a pt. 2 of Angelica's relationships) to give Yui and Angelica to him and Shin.

When he healed and was well rested, Carla was shocked to see his brother playing with Sofia in his wolf form in the courtyard. Carla was a bit annoyed with Shin, and reminded him that the girl was their prisoner and that he wasn't allowed to play games with her, even though Shin claimed that the only reason he did this to get her to stop crying.

A couple days had pass, and when Carla and Shin enrolled themselves in the same school the Sakamakis and Mukamis go to, they had the wolves look after Sofia and gave them strict orders to not allow her out of their sight.

Before Carla left, he went to check on Sofia and saw that she refused to get out of bed and her eyes were red from crying the night before. Though Carla didn't care why she was crying, he still had a "familiar" of theirs, Anselm, bring the girl a glass of water in case she had a headache from all the crying. (Go to Akira's section)

Even though Carla hates that Sofia is a First Blood/Vampire hybrid, he doesn't put the blame on her since. . . .well, it's not like Sofia can control it, can she?

When he saw that Sofia was trying to clean up around the castle, he thought it was a bit odd. A part of him thought that she was doing this with the hope that they'll let her go back to her family, so he decided to ignore it. When he learned from Shin that Sofia was just doing this to make the place look nice, he was genuinely surprised.

After a month passed, Carla began to grow a little fond of the girl, as she kind of reminded him of him and Shin when they were around her age. He even began to feel a little bit of guilt for taking her away from the people she cares about.

However, he still planned to use her against Karlheinz, since Carla blames her father for the near destruction of his race: in this AU, there are still a few First Bloods around, but a majority of them are men with the very few girls around being the same age/or even younger than Sofia, who is currently 12.

What really got the two to bond was when Carla and Sofia talked about their mothers, Krone and Angelica respectively, as the two both have close bonds with them.

Sofia is currently the only one Carla didn't refer to with the nickname "kisama":  In contemporary Japanese, this is a derogatory second-person pronoun ("you"), however, in ancient Japanese, this was a formal pronoun, and is likely used to reflect Carla's age as a First Blood.

When everyone realizes that Karlheinz was directly behind every tragedy that occurred in their lives, the Sakamakis, Mukamis, and Tsukinamis forges a temporary alliance and got a few notable families to join them in overthrowing the Vampire King. When this happened, Carla had allowed his niece to reunite with her family.

After the new "War of Kings and Demons" ended, Carla and Shin decided to try and rectify their relationship with the Sakamakis and Mukamis for the sake of the future of their families.

When his relationship with Sofia got better, Carla would visit her and try to be more like an uncle to her.

Shin Tsukinami 🐺

Like with Carla, Shin is Sofia's uncle through Angelica: all three share the same birth father, Giesbach Tsukinami, the previous First Blood king.

When Shin and his older brother Carla learned from their wolves that there were was a pure First Blood woman (Angelica) who had a hybrid child (Sofia) living with the Sakamakis and Mukamis, Carla and Shin made a new plan: get both Yui and Angelica so they can repopulate their race as they teach Sofia how to be a proper First Blood.

When Carla and Shin infiltrate the Sakamaki mansion and fought against the two families, Shin had managed to get a good look at Sofia, who was being protected by her hellhound Howl, and was shocked to see that she greatly resembled his and Carla's late father's bodyguard, a fellow First Blood named Carmen.

Unlike Carla, however, Shin didn't realize that there was a possibility his father Giesbach cheated on their mother with another woman: though due to Shin's poor relationship with his mother, it's most likely that he wouldn't care.

When Carla got injured and with the Full Moon almost ending, an angered Shin had grabbed a frightened Sofia by the wrist and took her with him and a retreating Carla to the old Tsukinami castle.

After Carla made Shin keep an eye on the pink haired vampire, Shin was getting annoyed with Sofia's cries and when he went in to tell her to stop crying and get her to reveal her father Karlheinz's secrets, the plan ultimately backfired when she was able to agree to stop crying if he played a game of tag with her in the courtyard.

As they played tag, Shin noticed that Sofia wasn't smiling at all during their game, though he was more surprised that she didn't try to runaway: he even had a couple of wolves surround the castle in case she tried to make a break for it.

When he asked, Sofia said that it wouldn't make sense for her to runaway because she doesn't know how far their castle from her home, and because there was a possibility that Carla and Shin had familiars or guards that protect the place that could prevent her from escaping. Shin was surprised that she'd think of that right away, and realized that that was probably why she didn't try anything when they were walking to the courtyard.

There was something about Sofia that made Shin lower his guard, which made him think that she was like some kind of trained spy: though this obviously isn't the case.

But nevertheless, Shin would be the first one of the Tsukinami brothers to bond with the girl.

When Sofia thought about her family and was about to cry again, Shin panicked and decided to shape shift into his wolf form to distract her for the time being.

This worked for a while up until a fully healed Carla found out. When his older brother asked why he was playing with the prisoner, an embarrassed Shin came up with the excuse that it was just to get her to stop crying: which wasn't really a lie.

During the daytime when Sofia had to rest, because that's when vampires sleep, Shin would periodically check on her and would get caught off-guard when she asks if she'll see her family again. He knows better than to make a promise one can't keep, so Shin replies with something like, "I don't know. Probably."

When Shin and his brother enrolled themselves into the same school the Sakamakis and Mukamis go to, Shin had assigned two wolves with looking after Sofia while they were away. He even has them bring her food and fresh blood when she gets hungry.

Shin would pay attention to Sofia's behavior around him and Carla, which is when he'd notice that she doesn't seem to be as scared of them like before, more specifically with him. He first thought that this could be a bad sign and that she'd try to overpower the two and run away, so he tried to get her scared of them again. This didn't work.

Like Carla, Shin hates that Sofia is a First Blood/Vampire hybrid. And like his brother, Shin doesn't blame her for this, due to her being a child and because she didn't choose this. Doesn't mean that he doesn't blame one of her parents: Karlheinz.

When Carla and Shin realize that Karlheinz was behind the tragedies that led them to this place, they formed a temporary alliance with the Sakamakis, Mukamis, and any noble demon family that was also against the Vampire King.

When the second demon war ended, Shin and Carla both decided to become co-rulers of the Ancestor race and the two heads of their family, and they officially made Sofia and her mother Angelica a part of the family as way to make amends.

Between him and Carla, Shin is most definitely the fun uncle, since Sofia likes to play games with him the most.

Stella Tsukinami 🌟

Stella Tsukinami, much like her two older brothers, is Sofia's aunt through her mother Angelica: the three of them share the sam biological father, Giesbach Tsukinami.

Much like her brothers, Stella was shocked to learn that there were two female First Bloods other than Cordelia (whom her brothers were looking for to repopulate their race with), so they went after them as well, and Stella was stunned to learn that they were related to their father's old body guard/mistress Selene: who changed her name to Carmen when pursuing a new life.

Stella was left in charge of Sofia's studies and training as a First Blood, which the older girl didn't really care for.

It's Donnie, Moira, and Tori. I made two for Tori, because she changes a bit in appearance at some point in her life. And I like the later design a lot! Its fun to draw her hair.

I'll be posting some pictures of my oc from Padawan Era through Empire Era at some point to show what she looks like and stuff. I'll try to explain things as I write too.

I'm currently trying to write the whole clone Wars series but adding her in as well... Meaning there are extra episodes or Episodes I entirely skip if she isn't in them.

I'll get some background info up at some point. I'm also adding episodes I write with just clones from her legion I made up. I'm currently researching CT numbers as well so I don't accidentally assign ones that are already in use, so for now I'm just using their names.

Also throughout this whole thing, at some point I'm gonna end up shipping her with Rex because I said so when the build up and character development is right.

I'm drafting all of this on my Wattpad, but I haven't actually posted any of it yet because I'm trying to finish enough episodes so I don't have to deal with people rushing me to push out the next chapter, because it always happens and I get unmotivated.

I'll post a short summary of important events before the clone Wars Era because that's my main focus. But I can't draw for the life of me so I'm like heavily relying on avatar editors and picrews.

I'll do short Fic imagines in between when I get ideas, but as of now this is my main story focus, but I will create a tag for it.

I'll make a blog information post later, but yeah.

Just finished making my dnd character for a Curse of Strahd campaign that my partner is running. I'm super excited to introduce Sabrina the Death Domain Cleric. She is a Dhamphir and she is super cute! I'll have more to talk about her later. I used the picrew that @K_pupu on twitter made. Eventually I'll draw her myself.
