I finally finished the simple ref sheets for my OCs (in order of the pictures), Julian, Ayame, and Colby! They were all originally made on the toon me! piccrew by @hellosunnycore but I've modified their designs (except Julian because I thought his was perfect on the piccrew)!

This is a birthday gift for @varric-tethras-editor! It’s (kind of I was guessing when I drew it) her non-Inquisitor OC Marin Lavellan, along with a little sketchbook spread inspired by Cam’s fic, Mend My Life which is absolutely wonderful and I couldn’t recommend more.

what to expect from me: a bit of everything in the writeblr kitchen sink. refs, prompts, wip and general inspo, memes, ask/tag games (i am friendly to both, but put priority on asks as i get a lot of tags nowadays!). i dig good aesthetics and vivid, sensory writing with emphasis on description and emotional content. i unabashedly write nsfw content, and do not follow anyone under 18. 

at the end of the day, i love writing about love. every story i write has some variant of a love story in it somewhere. that said, i am not a romance genre writer. i have made my bed with fantasy, and to fantasy i will always return, yada yada. my dad read The Hobbit to me when i was four and set me up for life. 

secondary world high fantasy is my specialty, but i also love space fantasy, fairytale and myth retellings, and cosmic horror. my wip Star White, about a man who spends a billion years searching for his lost lover when he is abducted by sentient dark matter, is a blend of all three.

you may know me from my 1920s-inspired theater with an interdimensional portal in the belly of the stage wip, The Great Glavenisean Theater, or my very strange giant tree wip, In The Deep of the Trees featuring Titus and Sabine. if you’re an oldie (circa 2018-2020), you might recall Bloodlines, a romantic high fantasy featuring original species, the Gelkins and the skin-changers. my other wips include the aforementioned space fairytale, Star White, a queer fucked up found family epic with trans wizards and missing gods called Solene’s Verse, and a very experimental novella about the worst walking roadtrip known to mankind (i accidentally blow up your village and kill your girlfriend, you get an existential crisis about the nature of reality), aka The Wasteland. 

i will continue to spruce up this space with wip intros as i refurbish everything, but my main focus right now is finishing the first draft of The Great Glavenisean Theater. i do aspire toward traditional publishing, and have had an eye on this industry for twelve years (i was actively querying at fourteen, we’re in this writing shit for life)

Silkwing creator

I finally finished the project I was working on!

It was meant to be finished early but I had a lot of stuff to do so I was only able to finish it for good today.

I was thinking about making a ref sheet for silkwings to practice drawing them, but I was like but I want to do a few types with different types of horns. I quickly realised that it would take a lot of time if I was drawing like 3 different sheets just for horns. So I kinda took it a step further and made a piccrew out of it!

I know it isn’t prefect and a lot of stuff looks weird but I’m quite proud of this. Some parts like chest fluff and chest acessories and two types of ears and earings won’ t fit together, but rest of them should look good enough when put together.

This creator has as much options as I could fit in it without running out of energy, it should in theory make some fancy looking silkwings. You can use the images as a ref sheet for your oc or just play it like a game. But please don’t make adoptables out of it, that’s still my art that you got there.

Please I need y’all to see my bonkers design process for Stockholm and Helsinki. I went into this with the intent to draw Helsinki as a mix of Fin and Sve, because of course I did, and came out with two whole girls. I’m gonna ramble more under the cut about my thought process because I think it’s funny.

Ok so it starts at the top left and goes right in a backwards “S” shape down the rest of the page

The first two were Nyo!Sweden rips but a little softer because she is Fin’s daughter 

Then I thought “What if I made her like...handsome? Handsome in a soft way?” Then you get that weird swoopy hair look in the top right and I HATED it

Then with the short hair I really went “Nyo!Finland but shorter hair” and that wasn’t it either

I really tried to make it work if You couldn’t tell

I got frustrated and went to piccrew to goof around and see what I get. That’s how I ended up on the ponytail with the braids being pulled into a bun/ponytail with bangs

Then I slapped on some glasses and a longer face because I thought I was leaning too far away from Sweden

But all that mentioned above was too much, her face felt crowded (and too much like Czech) So I split her hair into braids, because I don’t have many characters with braided hair and I thought it’d be good practice, and kept the long-ish hair from Nyo!Sweden

I don’t remember how it happened, but I sketched out the drawing of Helsinki at the bottom left and just completely lost it. I thought she was cute and resembled Fin enough but not too much. I took the remaining traits from the design above her (ie the side part and longer face) and slapped them onto another girl who is now Stockholm

It’s not pictured here, but I tried to give Helsinki a longer or more pronounced nose like Sweden and Stockholm more of a button nose like Fin

I thought the contrast between Helsinki’s softer design and Stockholm’s sharper design with their noses would be fun...if that....if that makes any sense

One thing I do find funny is how consistant I was with giving Helsinki the choker. Literally all of them have it. I guess I got super attached to the name meaning thing I found while researching the city

It’s not colored so it’s not as obvious, but Helsinki has those soft blue eyes because of Sweden’s more blue-ish eyes. Although, I just really didn’t want to give her purple eyes because SO many characters already have purple eyes, especially in the Nordic family

Like, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Oslo, and Rey all have purple eyes. I wanted to mitigate that as much as possible

Oh, and that drawing to the right of Stockholm’s design at the bottom is just a concept sketch of her when she was younger and had longer hair

Also because my hand writing’s atrocious and I was scrawling like a maniac, here’s what all the notes say

“Absolutely not” in ref to the swoopy hair design 

“OSLO LISTENS TO GIRL IN RED <-- Crucial” That was just a random thought I had because I found out Ms. Girl-in-Red is from Norway 

“Y E S !!” I think it’s pretty clear what this means

What I really love about this, it that the “Final designs” at the bottom of the page aren’t all that close to hw they look now. That what I love about character design, they change so much through the process that they become different people

Anyway, I love character design, so I guess if y’all are interested to hear more about my thought processes for these girls I can make more of these

Here's all the characters for the webcomic story I'm working on. Their actual ref sheets are coming eventually; I have one complete so far and want to finish all of em to post at once.

Penelope Shii (Casual and work!), 22 y/o. Maid cafe employee and excellent cook. She might be a bit clumsy at her job, though.

Stepahnie Kurtsnov, 23 y/o. Freelance programmer and does art on the side. Streams art and games occasionally.

Yvonn Kim, 24 y/o. Security-for-hire. She's often employed at nightclubs and venues, but also for major events.

Ilian Bautista, 23 y/o. Grocery store clerk. He works as a cashier at a well-known grocery, and doesm't really enjoy his job but money is money.

Weird ask but do you have any characters that are not white? I am looking at the cast of characters you have for your game and they are all white :/ Do you not have any racial diversity among your cast of characters?

Still working on it but I haven't made/posted new art of them yet- I wanna make sure things are done right/have something concrete before posting- ;; Its not an intentional decision not to, I just haven't had as much time/motivation for art recently and haven't gotten around to a few redesigns, updates, and new characters just yet ^^||| (Not to say I don't have plans, just that the designs aren't done yet, and also some characters will look different than what old references seem to look like-) Ex. some base references have been Piccrews to at least get a base idea down but their "variety" of skin tones are often,, lacking- Like for example, Glael (the snake character) is a fair bit darker than the Piccrew ref, I still haven't shown off the god of fire or dark yet, and there a few unnamed characters I haven't gotten to designing yet :,3 because irl things have been keeping me away from more constant art for designing ^^||| Will be getting to it once I have more drawing time though, and sorry for rambling, but I just don't know how else to explain my thought process at uhhhh past midnight when receiving this on my last glance though Tumblr before logging out for the night
