A/N: I'm surprised by how many people really love Steb! I was not expecting that, but I'm loving every second of it!

When Steb was sent on a mission to the undercity undercover to bring down an illegal business, he expected to get his job done.

And he did! But he didn’t expect to get a lover in the midst of it all.

When you first met him, outside of catching your gaze on a handsome fishman, you quickly realized he was a man of little words.

But what he lacked in dialogue he made up for in body language.

Especially when he blushed at your advances.

He could try his damnest to play coy with you, but there was no point.

The more you pointed out how beautiful his scales were and how his eyes held the ocean within them, the more he fell for you.

The attraction at first was mainly fueled out a lust, your time together only being colored by rendezvouses and sneaky links.

But before you both knew it,  lust turned into a genuine bond.

And the genuine bond turned into love.

In the beginning of your relationship, Steb tried to keep you at arms length from his duties in Piltover.

It wasn’t that he was ashamed of you- Not by a long shot!

He was just scared that if his friends and close acquaintances in the enforcer unit found out you were a Zaunite they could hurt you.

So the both of you kept your love under wraps, embarking on dates in secret.

It was fine at first, but after a while, Steb could tell it was killing you to watch other couples show their lovers off with pride while he had to walk on eggshells.

Luckily a pep talk from Maddie and the other enforcers in addition to yourself gave him the courage to declare without fear that you were his beloved.

Hell, even Vi is a huge fan of you two! She never would've pegged Steb to be with a Zaunite, but she loves the sight regardless!

Now the both of you hang around Zaun and Piltover, hand in hand, being the cutest couple in the twin cities.

she's super obedient , getting really upset if she ever breaks a rule by mistake. she tends to get self destructive often hiding from others or biting at herself more.

LOVES pets and head pats those are sure to get her barking and wagging her tail. head pats make her feel sooo tiny. she gets super happy and stimmy whenever someone uses puppy pet names on her. yes she's mama's good puppy that's her that's her !!

not a big talker. she mostly communicates through whines and barks or through her biting. she's fairly nonverbal and being asked to speak is really upsetting to her. only exception is cait going "use your words pup" when they're all alone and cait's having trouble helping her. she wants to be a good puppy for caitlyn.

very accident prone which is sooo super frustrating for her. she gets over excited and doesn't realize she's gotta go before it's too late. she cries about it and instinctively hides because she feels like a bad pup and is mortified and scared. caitlyn is really gentle with her and understanding though , bringing up the idea of padding which upsets maddie at first. over time she gets used to it though and she must admit.. it Does help. nevertheless can be quite fussy about it.

she is not a morning person, she doesn’t like the way that even if she is so comfortable, in her little hibernation, she’d have to leave your warmth each morning. she hated it.

when the alarm would go off, she’d groan, trying to stop it as fast as she can so you wouldn’t wake up— five more minutes was all she wanted. rolling back over into your arms as her eyes fluttered closed, squeezing you tightly

maddie is such a curious little puppy ! she gets horrifically upset when she gets into trouble but sometimes she can't help it when she's curious about something ! she's curious about everything , sometimes getting carried away following a butterfly or something of the sorts and getting lost.

maddie who realizes she's lost and immediately plops down on her bum and just starts sobbing. mama caitlyn had jinx install a little tracker on her collar for incidents like these. there's usually someone who recognizes maddie as caitlyn's little one, leading her to a safe spot and trying to calm her down until her mama can get to her.

she loves going on walks ! she loves when caitlyn puts on her leash , she loves being mama's girl. caitlyn always scratches behind her ear and gives her nose kisses when she's putting on her leash which makes the puppy giggle. on energetic days mama will have to tug on her leash if she's running ahead too far. she'll whine in response, padding back to caitlyn and walking obediently at her side the rest of the way.

maddie LOVES treats ! she has a real sweet tooth and especially loves bone shaped snacks and cookies. she can get a little jumpy but as soon as she's ordered to sit she'll do so oh so obediently.

caitlyn knows how embarrassed maddie is by needing diaps so she tries to make her feel better by getting her cute puppy themed ones ! maddie who is so embarrassed when caitlyn tells her she got her special diapers but whose tail starts wagging when she sees them. "you like them, pup?" caitlyn asks, chuckling. maddie yips, licking her mama's face.

maddie likes to dig a lot. sometimes she'll dig holes in the lawn and then someone will step outside and trip .... uh oh ! caitlyn will make her fill the holes back in, giving her a stern look which makes maddie whimper, hanging her head as she does as she's told though reluctantly. she's not trying to be bad she's just a pup !

when she knows she's done something naughty like this she's very hard on herself, tail between her legs isolating herself from mama. caitlyn gives her lots of kisses and reassurance. "oh hush now. you're not bad , mads. you were just playing , huh?"

Strike-Team headcanons!

@insanely-creative-things and I have been discussing some strike-team headcanons if they were actually a team who stayed together (where Maddie isn't a traitor and they didn't gas Zaun).

Caitlyn is the leader (obviously), Vi and Maddie are the fighters (also obvious), Loris is the tank (given his size and the shield he carries), and Steb is the healer of the team (he always checks the others for any injuries after missions).

Cait demanded Loris to stop drinking if he wanted to join the team.

Maddie is surprisingly the most ruthless of the team, since she came from Noxus.

Vi jokingly calls them Team Hellfire.

Steb and Maddie graduated the academy together and were enforcer partners before the strike-team was formed.

Loris is the dad of the team who constantly gives the others unasked advice.

Maddie has a habit of talking for Steb on occasion. He always nudges her in the shoulder for that.

They all go to Jerico's to drink on Saturday nights! Vi and Loris always end up stupid drunk, Cait only becomes tipsy, Maddie doesn't drink, and Steb is their designated driver.

Cait and Maddie sometimes compete on who's the better sniper (Cait always wins lol).

Vi and Cait's relationship is no secret to the team. Though they do hide it from the councilors, because one of them would certainly scold them for not keeping it professional.

Loris spars with Rictus on occasion to improve his hand-to-hand combat (Maddie always watches with popcorn).

Their full name is Maddison Finlay Nolan , but they hate it when someone calls them it as it immediately makes them feel like they're in trouble. Even if it's just their first name.

She curses up a storm when she thinks no one is around. She was very confused when Caitlyn gave her a look when she said "Son of a bitch" in front of her.

She adores being called "Good girl" or just "Good dog" it'll leave her smiling all day.

They're semi nonverbal. Usually, they can manage it while at work, but it's not uncommon for them to go mute, especially if they end up regressing.

She loves her job as an enforcer at first. She loves that she feels like a working dog.

When they regress, they usually act pretty much the same if they're at work, the bigger differences being that she's more Clingy with Vi and Cait along with usually becoming mute.

They teeth a lot, if it can fit in her mouth, it's going to have teeth marks on it. Usually, they'll only chew on the hem of their sleeve or their finger, but if you lend them a pen, there's a decent chance it's coming back with the end chewed.

They're Autistic, they struggle a lot with sounds and smells, so they usually carry around a small pouch of typically Cait's perfume to use as a way of self soothing.

Relationship hcs;

Vi and Cait were already dating when Maddie became an enforcer. Maddie quickly developed a crush on both of them , which she felt very guilty about.

When Cait and Vi were taking a break, she didn't mean to get with Cait By any means, she just wanted to comfort her, and things just ended up happening. Again, this only worsened her guilt, especially when she realised Cait definitely still had feeling's for VI.

When Vi and Cait got back together, Maddie tried not to feel bad about it, but she was definitely hurt. She pushed both of them away in fear of snapping at them, which quickly made Cait realise she did actually feel something for maddie.

Cait ended up speaking to maddie about it and Maddie confessed that she'd had feelings for both for them for a while.

Vi was very hesitant at first. She'd just gotten Cait back, and the idea of sharing wasn't too big for her. Cait managed to persuade her to just try it for a bit, and she quickly ended up realising she enjoyed Maddies company.

Vi and Maddie take turns being big spoon while Caitlyn is very happy being little spoon despite the fact she's taller than both of them.

Maddie is very overprotective of both Vi and Cait to everyone's surprise. She almost punched someone for hitting on Cait in front of her.

Due to being the smallest out of the three of them, she's very prone to stealing the other twos clothes. She's very guilty of stealing Vi's goggles and Caits jumpers.

She isn't big on Petnames but usually calls Cait "Love" and "Sweetheart" while she calls Vi "Dear" and "Darling"

their relationship is messy and complicated and quite a bit toxic but there's something addictive about it.

you have caitlyn who initially couldn't care less about maddie , only using her as a toy , taking advantage of her lack of experience and her obsession with her. she cares so much for vi yet she views vi and her attraction to him as her biggest weakness. he's not her first lesbian relationship but he's her first butch and she feels out of her depth.

you have maddie who would do anything for caitlyn no matter how despicable if it would put a smile on her face. maddie's a bit dumb , a blind and devoted follower. she doesn't ask questions being one of those people who would rather be willfully ignorant than knowingly causing harm. she's caitlyn's little mutt , she has low self esteem and just needs to feel needed. she puts herself in bad situations because she feels its what she deserves and admittedly she has a bit of a savior complex. she's attracted to people who are more broken than her so she can make herself useful and attempt to fix them or make her feel better about her own flaws.

and then you have vi. vi is slowly losing himself in an attempt to make positive change. all he wants is to be good and take care of his family but no matter what he seems to cause hurt. caitlyn makes him feel whole , no matter what he tries he can't get past the pain of loving her. when he finds out about caitlyn and maddie he's not sure if he's amused or heartbroken. this little girltwink catches his eye though , she could be fun.

at first vi views maddie similarly to the way caitlyn does : as a plaything. he teases her and is mean to her , enjoying the power he holds over her. it's nice to be with someone he doesn't really have feelings for when his feelings for caitlyn nearly ruined him. something about the way she looks to caitlyn for approval and is so sickeningly down bad for her kind of changes that though. he's jealous of her , he starts wanting to be her in some kind of fucked up way which is ironic when maddie herself is trying to emulate vi.

instead of talking about it after an argument they just fuck it out.... vi and caitlyn angrily fucking the shit out of maddie who is just happy to be good for something. caitlyn and maddie both pounding vi at the same time with their girlcocks. caitlyn is big and maddie's small so cait and vi gang up on her a lot. :\ freak secretly gets off on it.

"Ya've been starin' at me for an awful long time now. Not that I mind, your eyes are real pretty, sugar. But ya've got me all curious now." Jinx invaded your personal space like it was no big deal and leaned in so you had but inches between you.

You pressed your lips together and fidgeted in your seat. "You... I was wondering have you kissed anyone before?"

"Well here and there but not recently. I've got someone I really wanna kiss now." She pointed at you and tucked a hair behind your ear. "Wanna make out? I don't have any important things to do for a few hours?"

"Few hours? People make out for that long? Wait no, that's not what I want to do. I was curious cause I never kissed anyone and I was wondering if you... maybe wanted to kiss me?" With a slightly bashful tone you met her shiny purple eyes which only seemed to get brighter as she closed in.

"Do I wanna kiss ya? I wanted to since I saw ya! Been waitin' to get asked. Ya know, gentlewoman and all that shit." She wasn't one, not by a longshot but she also knew she could cross boundaries easily, this was one where she was more than willing to wait. "Pucker up quick!" You only had a second to react before harsh lips closed over yours, her thin but strong arms locking you in place on the chair. "Mwah!" Jinx cackled when she pulled back. "There. That's one thing to cross of your list. Can't wait for more." Winking she spun around in her chair and did a little happy dance.

Everyone knew Vi was a bold one, what she wanted she went for, often with little questions asked. She spent the whole date taking initiative, taking your hand, showing you the best places in Zaun, and a few at Piltover too, although she didn't know as many that were cooler than Zaun's. At the end of it she walked your home.

"I live in a safe neighborhood, Vi. There's no need for this." You argued as you fished for your keys to unlock the door. As you did you had full intention to invite her in.

"You never know when someone might try something. You're too cut to pass up on, sweet thing like you, bound to attract eyes. People might get ideas. Like this." Before you knew it, she pressed both hands against your hips and kissed your neck. You nearly dropped the keys when you felt the bolt of excitement run through your body. "See what I mean?"

Gulping you turned your head to hers. "Y-Yeah." She smirked and cupped your chin with the opposite hand, bringing you closer. "Vi, hold on." You turned your head back towards the door. "I never kissed anyone before." The whisper pierced through all the horny energy in Vi's body.

Her hands dropped from your hips. "Oh. Well now I feel like an ass. Since you let me walk you back and all, I thought... sorry I don't know what I thought. Do you want me to leave?" She waited for you to turn around and was surprised when you cupped her cheeks and leaned in. Her eyes widened for a moment before closing, right as your lips met in the middle. The grip on your hips returned, but it wasn't as strong as before. She wasn't the only one who could initiate.

You could look far and wide and you wouldn't find a bigger gentlewoman than Caitlyn. She asked if anything she did was wanted, if it was okay, if you liked it. Some of it came from her Academy days, some from her upbringing but she was never pushy with you.

It was actually you that noticed she was glancing at your lips a little too often while you were helping her sort out through the many documents she apparently had to bring home to work on. "Today was supposed to be our date, seems to me like you're dating your work as much as you're dating me." You teased and watched her huff.

"That is not true. You are infinitely more attractive, darling. I wouldn't kiss the papers but I would kiss you any day." Caitlyn flirted back and set the mentioned papers down. "In fact... I could use a little break from this. And you're right, tonight is our date night. So, tell me," Caitlyn walked up to your side of the desk and leaned on her hands, her face above yours, "would you do me the honor of kissing me?"

A heavy blush bloomed on your face as you felt caught in her crosshairs. When she got serious about something she saw it though until the end. That's how she was looking at you now. "I'd love to kiss you, Cait."

She chuckled at your breathless tone. "I'll go slow. It's your first kiss, right? I figured from the way you'd blush and turn your head when I'd lean in." Her gloved hands slid over your hands, giving them a comforting squeeze. "Close your eyes for me, darling." The moment you did you felt her lips against yours, perfectly falling into place.

"You're joking, aren't you? You haven't kissed anyone? No one? Not even a little?" She tried to hide her amused smile behind her hand but it was futile. You rolled your eyes at Maddie and then threw a pillow in at her head.

"First, how do you kiss someone a little? And second, you know I've barely dated before this. You're the first girl I'm kinda serious about. Thought that waiting to have my first kiss would be... you know romantic?" You shrugged and hugged the other pillow close to your chest. Maddie let out a loud 'awww' and hugged you tight, kissing your cheek.

She laughed when you tried to push her away for making fun of you.

"Now hold on. I think that is really sweet of you, love. Not many people out there have your romatic mind and I love that about you. Also, real sweet that you want to kiss me out of everyone." Her hands pressed upon your shoulders and her smiling face approached yours. "Do I get to do that now or...?"

You could see how eager she seemed now that she learned all this new information. "I mean... if you want." Your hug around the pillow tightened as you tried to will yourself to calm down. On the outside you were calmer, ever pushing back into the kiss, sighing contently against Maddie's lips, but on the inside, you were a damn mess of anxiety. "Shhh, it's just me, remember?" She cooed against your lips and waited for you to relax, massaging your shoulders before leaning in for a second, longer kiss.

This was more of a dare than you wanting to kiss anyone tonight. It wasn't your fault that all your friends knew about your big crush on Ekko and roped you into a game of darts that you lost and therefore had to walk over to him and kiss him. Your friends watched you fumble over to him, all giggling.

Ekko looked at you a little bewildered. "Look, don't ask, this was all their idea." You pointed behind yourself at your friends. "They dared me to kiss you so, if you wanna kiss me... you know, cool

"I've got nothing against kissing you, firefly, but I'm a little confused. Thought you didn't mess 'round with friends like that." Ekko did, you knew but you always thought that if you crossed that line with him there would be no bottling your feelings back up. And standing here in front of him, asking for a kiss, you knew that was true.

"I don't mess around with friends. But they won't leave me alone about not kissing anyone yet and you were the safest bet. Plus..." You moved from foot to foot, like that would shake off your nerves. "I like you, Ekko. As more than a friend. I have for a while."

All the chatter from around the two of you seemed to fall into a void. Ekko opened his mouth to say something but you kissed him before he could, too scared of a rejection and too high strung to think about the fact that you might never get this chance again. But to your surprise he kissed back, his full lips pressing hard against yours. "Thought you'd never come out and say it. Damn, been waiting to hear those words since forever." Ekko hushed against you before he dragged his lips from the corner of your mouth to your ear. "I like you too." He confessed with a whisper.

"Don't you let what those assholes said get to you, darlin', their mouth is bigger than their brain." Vander cleaned the dirty glasses behind the bar as you handed them to him one after another.

You grimaced, remembering all the teasing, quite rude teasing might you add, that you endured before Vander stepped in. "I could have kicked them out myself. Besides what do they care if I'm dating you? Not like you gave me the job because of it." They said a lot more than that but you didn't even want to go through all of it.

"Hey, you do great work here. The kids love you; I love you. All that talk about tradin' favors, bunch of bullshit, that's what it is. Besides, I know you've kept to yourself more than others around here. Got nothin' against that. If anything, makes me a bit nervous. I mean, you really want this old man to be your first at everything?" He scratched the back of your head as he remembered the night when you cuddled and you confessed, he would really be your first everything, not just your first relationship. Since then, he'd been a bit jumpier.

"Vander, you're a bit more than a decade older than me. We're both old. And when you get to my age and you haven't done anything, people talk. So, I can't really blame them for thinking what they do about me getting a job here. It's shitty yeah, but like you said, they're just assholes. I want you to be my first kiss, first everything." You confessed and suddenly you noticed Vander wasn't cleaning glasses anymore. He still had the glass and the rag in his hand but he wasn't moving at all.

You seem to have stunned him with your words. There was an old story you remember, about a kiss breaking a sleeping woman from her slumber. With a cheeky grin you pushed yourself up on the bar to get high enough to kiss him. Vander let out a sound of surprise but quickly melted into the kiss. The sound of the glass shattering also shattered the quiet moment you shared and you parted, laughing. "Well, I'll be damned. Seems like there are still things that surprise me."

Silco didn't hear anything from you about the status of you kissing or not kissing anyone. He heard it from Jinx, who heard it from Sevika. And to think one of your best friends would rat you out to her boss' daughter like that. "I'll kill that mouthy bi-" Your threat stopped on your lips, silenced by thin lips. "Silco... what the fuck?"

"What? From how I heard it, you really wanted to kiss me, but were to scared of looking desperate. Best to get things like this over with fast, otherwise they clog up your brain with unnecessary worries." He spoke like a true businessman. And at his core he was one, a corrupted one, and really good at his job.

Still, you looked at him, blinking slowly, still feeling his lips against yours. Your fingertips touched the tingly flesh.

"Silco... that was my first kiss! You asshole!" You pushed him and he did take a few steps backwards. "This is why you can never tell anything to anyone around here!"

Like it was messy he fixed his tie and vest, tugging until they were to his standard again. Then he walked up to you again, his orange eye trained on you like a cat's eye on a little mouse. "Did you hate that I did it? I was never good at asking for permission when I wanted something, or forgiveness. However, if you need an apology from me, I might consider it."

Despite the imposing presence you weren't scared of him at all. "For god’s sake, Silco, I didn't hate it. You could have put more effort in it though. You know, make it more romantic for a lady, sweep her off her feet and take her out to dinner." It was like this man did every romantic thing backwards. He slept with you before he asked you out, he never even asked you out officially, just told you he liked spending time with you, and now this. "You're hopeless sometimes."

When she heard what you said she couldn't help but let out a full belly laugh at it. "Jerk! I'm being serious!" You smacked your fists against her shoulder, which only made the big brawler of a woman laugh more. Sevika never had the most tact or subtlety, or was the best at keeping her emotions in.

"I know you are! Which is why it's so damn funny. I mean shit, sweetheart, haven't kissed anyone? I see you tearing up that dance floor every night with me. You're telling me no one ever got lucky enough to kiss you on the lips? On the other lips maybe?" She wiggled her eyebrows at you.

"You're gross sometimes, you know that." You smacked her on the bicep again, and at the next attempt she grabbed your wrist and pulled you into her lap. Your whole body went hot when her thigh flexed between your legs. "Sevika, what are you up to?"

Sevika grinned wolfishly as her hand grabbed your ass. "I'm about to kiss you. Tell me if you want me to stop." She wasn't exactly asking but she also didn't want to force this on you. When you didn't put up and resistance and tugged her a bit closer by her shirt, she leaned in to capture your lips. Like with everything else she couldn't be gentle, she didn't do gentle. The kiss was rough, passionate, with too much tongue for you who never kissed anyone before. "I'm gonna teach you how to do that better."

"Will you?" You asked all breathless and with wide pupils. One simple kiss made your whole body feel like fireworks were going off. "Better make up for you making fun of me."

Viktor was very perceptive of things that interested him. You were one of those things, even before you became his girlfriend he always listened when you talked about anything. It was his first clue that he liked was in love with you.

He noticed you always seemed to be looking down at his lips more than the things he was writing whenever he was explaining something. "You know, if you want to kiss me, it's as simple as asking." He teased as his fingers traced the pages; he was reading out to you.

"O-Oh. You noticed that did you?" You looked away at the big wall of notes behind him then back at his smiling, knowing face. "Who am I kidding, of course you did. Don't get me wrong, I want to kiss you, Viktor. But I'm also nervous because it'll be my first kiss." He closed the book, with a bit more of a thumping sound than it was warranted. As quickly as he could he crossed the distance between the two of you. His hand lifted yours to his lips.

As shy as he could be with his touches, sparing even, reserved, he found it very easy to touch you and it made your heart skip a few beats every time. Viktor was comfortable with you; he teased you like it was no big deal and would hold your hand when walking through the halls.

"I must confess, darling, I don't have much experience with kissing, or anything of a romantic or intimate nature. I've only been in a few precious relationships before. However, if you allow me, I would love to be your first kiss, today." He emetized the time with a kiss on your fingers, then your knuckles, then across your arm, your jaw. And finally... your lips.

"Do you want to be my first-" You couldn't ask anything more because you heard and saw Jayce drop the hammer he was holding on his foot and was now leaning against his desk, cursing under his breath. "Kiss. My first kiss, Jayce. Get your brilliant mind out of the gutter."

His cheeks got hot when your eyes met across the room. "Your first kiss. Uh... you never kissed anyone before now, babe? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question but... how? I mean you're the most beautiful, amazing woman I know!"

When he finally put his foot down, confidant that it was okay to do so, he scratched the back of his neck, further adding to his confused look. You sighed. "Thank you for saying all of that. I suppose I wanted it to be special. You told me you've managed to find a breakthrough in your research, so I wanted to reward you, and myself." As you approached him, he got a big, dumb grin that stretched all over his face.

"I see. A reward. If I knew I'd be getting one I'd spend more sleepless nights here." He wrapped his arms around your body when you stepped close and pressed your bodies close.

"No, you wouldn't. I would drag you back to your bed if that's what I had to do to make you sleep properly." And you really would have done that. For right now though Jayce did a good job, and giving him your first kiss was a reward. Jayce approached you slowly, taking great care to be gentle when kissing you, to not get too carried away. He didn't, he kept it to a gentle, long kiss, but quickly got in a few more when you tried to pull away. "You giant dork."

Mel gave you a goodnight kiss but as soon as she felt you stiffen, she pulled back. She frowned when she noticed how nervous you looked. "What's the matter? Darling, are you cold? Your hands are shaking?" She ran her thumbs over the back of your hands.

"Nervous is more like it. That was my first kiss." You said with a shy smile and tried to go in for a second one. But this time Mel stopped you, her hand acting as a barrier between you two. "Hm? What?"

"Your first kiss. And you only tell me that after I've kissed you. Have I known I wouldn't have rushed into it." She sighed heavily and looked almost guilty. She kept replaying her interactions with you in her mind, you were very confident on your date, you flirted with her quite boldly too. And when you kissed her hand, she thought you wanted more.

"What? No, Mel, I'm happy my first kiss was with you! It was perfect!" You quickly spoke up to assure her. "If I didn't want it, I would have stopped you before. But holy crap, do you have any idea how much I wanted to kiss you?! I mean honestly, do you! I hardly worked up the nerve to ask you out tonight." You scratched your cheek nervously and avoided her eyes. This felt a little embarrassing to admit when you worked so hard to remain calm and project and air of confidence with her.

Chucking into her hand, Mel cupped your cheek with the other. "Is that so? If that's all then I'm glad. You don't have to pretend with me. I can assure you too, if I didn't like you, I wouldn't have said yes to our date. Much less kissed you. However, if you would allow it, I would like to re-do that kiss." Mel took your chin between her fingers and brushed her thumb against your lower lip, parting your lips just a bit before kissing you again.

A/N: I'm not gonna lie, the lack of Steb, Madelyn and Loris is making this girl see red. As a fan though, I'll satiate our thirst for the fishman, the ginger and the big ox.

When Steb first met you, he had to admit. He thought you were kind of annoying.

He had never met someone who was so outspoken about. Well. Everything.

Of course he was used to the cheerful open mind of Maddie and the loud stubbornness of Violet, but you? Boy, you were different.

Not negatively stubborn, thank the gods, but you were a ball of energy he just couldn’t find himself grasping upon.

Of course he worked with you and kept cordial, even when you tried to speak to him.

But deep down it was becoming a problem so large he would discuss with Caitlyn about switching shifts or embarking on missions without your presence.

Steb couldn’t stand you at first… But that’s the thing about time. It has a way of changing people.

With time and missions where the both of you had to work together alone, the fishman found himself tolerating you.

Actually. It was more than toleration. He actually. Liked you.

Instead of moments where he was alone being perceived as the truest form of inner peace, he would find himself pondering on what you were doing.

‘Where was she right now? How was she doing? Was she being her curious usual self?’

Those thoughts and more began to swarm around his brain like an emotional hurricane that only grew the more moments passed without you.

Steb had fallen in love before. Multiple times. But not like this.

He confided in his crewmates to assist him with his emotions and they all said the same thing;

“Tell her how you feel.” “Go for it, Steb!” “She’ll love you back, I’m sure of it!”

The man was filled with nervousness and anxiety, but the pep talk from his allies and friends were strong enough to finally confess.

Junior Officer Maddie Nolen - Alphabet Headcanons (SFW)

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

~ Maddie is super affectionate.

~ Not only is she physically affectionate (she loves hugs, hand-holding, and just having you near her or her hands or lips on you somehow), but the way she talks to her partner would be so intentional and caring, merely because she knows that every moment with her girl would count in her line of work.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

~ Maddie is definitely the friend who has a clear crush on her bestie for years, but refuses to say anything because of gay panic. This includes if she knows her friend is gay too! (Because in her mind; “What if she's gay for every girl but me?”)

~ Having this in mind though, her reluctance to tell you about her crush, or even her not having a crush on you, would not change much about being her best friend. She'd still be kind, considerate, generous and an overall delight to hang around.

~ She's definitely a yapper friend though, so be prepared.

~ The friend would start with her enthusiastically introducing herself in a random setting and an instant connection leading to you wanting to know where you'll most-likely find her again.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

~ Maddie loves to cuddle. It's second nature to her. The reassurance of having someone near, especially after long days, makes her feel safe and secure, and she'll often ask for cuddles in the middle of the day if she thinks it won't be too much of an inconvenience for you.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

~ Maddie is so devoted that she'd definitely want to settle down. She'll get you to a courthouse a year into your relationship if you let her. But that's also just her way of expressing love, true commitment.

~ In terms of cooking and cleaning, she's definitely not a multi-talented queen in this regard. She's either gonna feed you a 5-star meal after leaving the kitchen in an almost irreparable state, or be the best cleaner who burns toast on the regular. (And you'll take either option, of course) She does lean closer to being a good cook though.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

~ She's going kicking and screaming. She definitely didn't come to the realisation that you had to break up by herself, and one of her friends and/or family probably made her aware of how the relationship wasn't working anymore.

~ Still, once she's more aware of the fragments in the relationship, she can't look away. She'll either try to rapidly fix them and fail, or break down from the realisation and then slowly explain why this isn't gonna work out.

~ She's not good at hiding her disappointment for the most part though, so once you separate, she might need some space from you entirely so she doesn't fall back into old habits.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

~ As stated, when this girl is in love, she's in love. Walk past a ring/jewellery store after a month and she'll go, “So we're off to the courthouse tomorrow, aren't we?”

~ She is endlessly committed, and realistically, 2 or 3 years together would be more than enough for her to know that you're the one she wants to be with forever.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

~ Have you ever met anyone so gentle? I doubt it. She radiates that soft energy.

~ Physically, her touch is beyond gentle. With such a rough job, she takes pride in getting to come home and be as soft as possible. Which is why seeing her in battle can be so jarring (and hot) because she doesn't look like the type to be able to manhandle people so efficiently.

~ Emotionally, she's just as gentle. She cares deeply about your feelings, and makes sure that those needs are constantly met. She can be a bit of a ‘yes man’ sometimes, not wanting to hurt your feelings with the truth, but overall, you know it's just because she cares.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

~ She's a walking teddy bear. Loves hugs more than the average person.

~ She sees them as part of her routine. Her calming rituals. So at least 3 times a day. Morning hugs, random hugs whenever you see each other during the day, and finally, a hug after she's back from work at night.

~ Her hugs are soft, and all-consuming. Sometimes they're a bit tight if she hasn't had her deserved amount for the day and missed you. They're slow, tender and patient. The world will wait until she's content with letting go of you.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

~ She probably said various equivalents of it before you even started dating.

~ The moment she actually says it would probably be once she feels settled in the fact that she's chosen a person who cares for her in the right way. She might have a conversation with Steb about it at work and after he begrudgingly tells her to just be out with it, she'll come home so excited to finally let those words slip out.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

~ She holds a reoccurring silent jealousy that turns more sulky the longer she's around the person who's making her feel that way.

~ She's easily reassured, so gentle contact can calm her down, but she does get anxious about that kind of thing because of her tendency to not see the transparent things others might in a relationship.

~ After a bout of isolation, and maybe some dramatic pouting, a quick kiss will quickly remind her that she's got nothing to worry about.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

~ Her pecks are delicate and gentle, almost feather-like. Her deeper kisses are agonisingly slow and teasing, until you call her out on it.

~ Any patch of skin you have that's on display is fair game for her. Her lips will find their way to your shoulders, back, neck, lips, etc.

~ Though she's usually the kisser of the relationship, surprise slow kisses on her lips in the middle of the day will have her in a frenzy. She also loves a good forehead/cheek kiss.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

~ It's a hit or miss with kids. Kids find her to be really alluring and she'll often be caught smiling at kids playing or cooing at a baby, but put a child in her direct care, and she'll definitely freak out and overcompensate.

~ I'm talking, you asked her to babysit a niece of yours for 6 hours and she managed to spend a quarter of her paycheck on supplies she surely didn't need.

~ But the kid(s) would be in good hands. They'd be well entertained.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

~ She's definitely an early riser. An enthusiastic one at that. Mornings are spent cuddling, brewing coffee and making breakfast.

~ On her days off, she'll likely let you sleep in, make you breakfast in bed, and either yap, or read to you while you settle into the day.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

~ She's not up most of the night. She doesn't have a set bed-time, but you'd be hard-pressed to find her awake past 10 on a weekday. Especially after a grueling day at work. She likes to have you in her arms while she sleeps, so you're usually going about your business sitting in bed while she dozes off, occasionally throwing glances at her sleeping figure or kissing her forehead, whispering sweet nothings to her.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

~ Past relationships will have gotten her used to giving more than she receives, so at first she might not notice that she's being closed off. She just assumes you don't care to know anything about her.

~ When you make it clear that you want to know more about her though, she quickly gets comfortable being very open. She definitely had a tendency to say everything at once, in fear that you might stop caring if she waits, but, once she's reassured that there'll always be a space for her to express herself, she'll be more comfortable letting the things she wants to share come to her naturally.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

~ I don't know, she seems like she might have a hidden temper. Not in an outward way, but in that “If I take you to a rage room I'd be frightened” way. She tries to give people the benefit of the doubt, but she also has limits.

~ Might become more passive-aggressive the more her patience is tested.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

~ She remembers everything. Both the things you've told her, and the little things she's just observed about you from you being around.

~ She might keep a little notebook on hand to write things about you down if she doesn't trust her memory all that well.

~ She'll randomly say things she remembers learning about you when they come to mind, mostly muttering to herself but also sometimes declaring it in a louder way accidently.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

~ With her line of work, Maddie feels a sense of obligation to already be protective over you, so you are always very close to her in public, if only for your protection.

~ An arm would always be wrapped around your waist, and she'll definitely be walking on the outer side of the pavement for you. She also gives off a death glare to any suspicious passers-by as a warning to watch it.

~ She's pretty secure in physical protection, but verbal protection from others is a thing she definitely loves. Seeing her partner defend her for even the littlest thing so she doesn't have to explain herself would make her feel so loved.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

~ Definitely a planner. Will plan dates on a regular basis, start organising anniversaries months in advance, and put in the utmost effort into being the best for you.

~ She is more willing to share responsibility for dates, but anniversaries are all her. She often has you clear the week/weekend when these anniversaries occur.

~ An amazing gift giver to. She can go a bit overboard, but her gifts are always beautiful and sentimental.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

~ Talks over people when overly excited.

~ Can display naive tendencies at times, and be a bit impulsive or quixotic.

~ Sometimes struggles to have healthy boundaries with her work, overexerting herself.

~ Anxious nail bitter.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

~ She's got a very specific aesthetic that she curated when she was young, so she's very comfortable with how she looks.

~ She also knows she's cute, so very little effort is needed.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

~ She loves being in a relationship, so most-likely. If you're away, she'll miss you like hell.

~ Not that she couldn't breathe without you (she might pretend that's the case if it'll get you to stay) but she does prefer to have you in general.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

~ She's got two handwriting types. A beautiful cursive although shaky handwriting that she uses for people she likes, and a completely illegible chicken scratch/morse code thing going on when she wants to mess with people.

~ She learned to write with both her left and right hands as a kid because becoming ambidextrous was a heavy special interest of hers at some point.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

~ Hates not having you around when she's in a bad mood. The world might as well be ending if that's what her life has come to.

~ Clothes that are more showy than comfortable. She'll complain until she can change into something better.

~ A partner who isn't transparent with her. She cherishes honesty and appreciates that more than anything.

Z = Zzz (What are some sleep habits of theirs?)

~ Mandatory 9-10 hours if you want her to be able to function right during the day. And her body will take those hours regardless of convenience.

~ She's a deep but light sleeper. She falls asleep easily and will look like she's really deep in it until a small noise wakes her up extremely easily.

~ Mumbles in her sleep. Again, certified yapper, in all states of consciousness.
