Tsutomu Madarame and Kemuri Garasu, the comedic Police-Robber duo from the manga "Dorokei" (2018), or "Cops & Robbers". I colored this with a pastel color palette I found and I was lucky because the manga covers have pastel background so it still works.

I found this manga from a huge book sale in my city. I didn't even want to buy any mangas, but the premise caught my eye because I love mystery/crime/buddy-cop dynamic. I got all 7 volumes for very cheap.

The story is good, some volumes are a hit or miss but I got what I wanted, with additional comedy. The art is pretty solid too which is always a treat. This also made me watch the dorama that was based on this manga, although only in premise and main character names while the personalities and end goal of each characters are very different from the source material. Both stories are enjoyable in their own way.

Ogiue is definitely an interesting character. In the OAV, Ogiue says she hates otaku, specifically female ones, because they like homo manga. It is later revealed that Ogiue attended a yaoi-related event. Why then would she make such remarks, especially when she herself is an otaku and likes yaoi? What reason is there to maintain her secret of liking yaoi when there are people in the manga club and genshiken who are similar to her? My guess is that Ogiue is embarrassed like Sasahara in episode 1, but in a more extreme way. It could be possible that she developed an awareness of the stigma surrounding the yaoi genre, and does not want to be associated with them. Thus, she pretends to reject it.

Our reading of Saito’s “Beautiful Fighting Girl” relates to Ogiue. In the excerpt, Saito says the otaku can be sexually attracted to fictional objects and gives some examples of fetishes present in otaku culture such as “Lolita complex” and “yaoi.” However, he argues that although the otaku enjoy them in the form of fiction, they are able to separate fiction from reality and do not display such perversion in real life, save Tsutomu Miyazaki’s incident. Saito also notes that otaku are usually attracted to the opposite gender. His description applies to Ogiue. We see that Ogiue enjoys yaoi, going to the point of imagining a relationship between Madarame and Sasahara, and producing her own yaoi manga. However, as hinted by Ohno, Ogiue has an attraction towards Sasahara. This is seen when in episode 11, when Ogiue blushes and runs away after seeing Sasahara’s smile. This shows that she is attracted to the idea of having a traditional relationship with Sasahara, which contrasts with her fantasies of Sasahara and Madarame.

I think Saito’s observation of people linking the otaku’s perversion in fantasies to actual perversion, which creates a biased image of the otaku, is accurate. The media often uses perverse images to negatively portray manga/anime, and in turn, creates a negative image of the otaku.

its a detective crime drama that actually doesnt focus on murders for once and instead is about thefts which makes it particularly refreshing to me.... it centers around a rookie cop named madarame tsutomu whos kinda a Very Lazy Millennial who at the start of the series is supremely unmotivated for his job and is also very stupid and a seasoned master thief who cannot be caught bc hes that slick and goes by the name smokey crow. 

madarame by chance instantly figures out mr smokeys identity but wont actually arrest him bc it would be a pain and so smokey san just fucking decides to teach him how to be a true detective kskjdfjkek. which is the start of a rather very cute and weird mentorship that leads to madarames growth.... 

madarame is so fucking stupid tho its embarrassing how easily someone can stroke his ego kdfjkskh god he learns tho and hes so endearingly cute theres more to be said but i already said a lot please watch dorokei its one of my favorite dramas its good,
