Women's History Month "Meet Madame Abomah, the "African Giantess." She was born in South Carolina in 1865, barely missing slavery. She likely reached around 6'10" or 6'11" (some even say 7'6") and traveled Europe showing off her height. Her manager felt that Europe would be better to tour because racism was not as profound there. Before her touring days she found respectable work as a nanny. After many years Abomah did return to the US and worked for Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey and at Coney Island.
