Animation cel of Sivil/シビル from the anime マクロス 7/Macross 7 episode 42 . . This cel was used in episode 42 of the anime. Where Sivil is taking Basara’s spiritia which starts killing him but stops when Mylene alerts of her of doing so. This is an interesting cel as if you watch the scene there seems to be another out there which is almost identical with subtle differences. This cel didn’t come with her mouth so I made one lol, it’s not perfect but I made an attempt lol. . . Another cel of Sivil to my collection! With this I now own six cel of Sivil! I’ve missed out on some in the past so I’m always excited to get one! Airborne Onnagata: Viewing Macross Frontier’s protagonist through a genderqueer lens

Major Spoilers for Macross Frontier and its films, including The Labyrinth of Time.

2008’s Macross Frontier is well regarded by Macrossfans for returning to the core concepts of the franchise while moving the needle forward at the same time. Set against the backdrop of the titular space colonization fleet’s struggle against an insectoid race known as the Vajra and the political machinations surrounding them, Frontier squarely focuses on the search for identity amongst the members of its central love triangle. Ranka Lee is an up-and-coming idol who questions herself at every turn. Sheryl Nome is a certified superstar with time against her. The final member of this triangle is Alto Saotome, an actor-turned-student-turned-fighter-pilot who struggles to parse all the different elements of himself.  

In the years following the heyday of the series and its accompanying films, Ranka and Sheryl have been praised for their charisma and growth. Alto, not so much. He’s often derided as an overly hostile, angsty teenager: I’ve heard him described as “an abrasive, one-note character”  more than once. While he definitely does have his moments, I don’t think his sometimes brusque personality is always without reason. 

After an initial viewing of Macross Frontier, most viewers would comment on a handful of topics. Not limited to, but including: the series’ back-to-basics approach reminiscent of the original 1982 Macross, its tendency to adhere a bit too closely to then-current trends, and unending talk of how awful Alto is. However, on a recent rewatch, a new thought clicked with me: what if Alto was fighting with some intense dysphoria?

Another cel of Sivil from Macross 7 . . . Picked up this cel a lil over a month ago, it’s from episode 33 when she’s in a lil bubble or whatever. Thought it was a cool cel so I got it! This is also my fourth cel of Sivil!(you’ll see in the last pic) I’m not sure if the background is original as there’s not marking on it but it very well could be cause in the scene where it’s used there a lot of animation effects. Unfortunately the douga sketch was stuck to the cel at one point but someone ripped it from the cel for whatever reason. Macross 7 Vol.5 Laserdisc & VHS (1995) . . Macross 7 volume 5 which contains episodes 17 -20. Episode 17 which is Sivil first appearance in the series! Illustration was done by Character designer and animator Katsura Kenichiro! . . . This is by far my favourite combo buy in a while! I brought this little over a month ago, and actually brought the VHS on my birthday! The whole package came some days later but I still think of it as a present for myself! Anyways like I said this is my favorite purchase. I’m sure a few have probably figured out but I absolutely love Sivil! So I had to buy this LD just for the cover art alone! She has to be my absolute favorite character of the series, lol! I actually included the few Sivil cel I have in this post! Macross Frontier Douga’s, Layout scenes and Paper Crafts! . . . Bid on this last month and initially thought it was just the first douga of Sheryl and little did I know it came with much more! If I knew how much it came with I would’ve bid on some other sets as well. All in all there are 43 douga sheets, 6 of the layout scene pages and 4 paper crafts (2 of the VF-1J and one of a VF-1S and one of Ai-Kun!) . . Not a bad little haul! Wasn’t that expensive either! The timing is great too cause the movies are gonna be shown in the theaters this month! I have a ticket to the first movie still need to get one for Sayonara no Tsubasa! I can’t wait!!!!!
