who: @endlessreruns ( mason )
where: lake party
❝ i don't know how much ice cream it will take to drown my sorrows of having to socialize, but it will probably be a lot. ❞ mack stated flatly as they moved into the empty area near mason. truthfully they'd ran into amy and ended up slightly cross-faded with a sudden craving for ice cream that needed to be satiated. ❝ so if that's going to be a problem for you to see i suggest fucking off now because it's happening right here. ❞ immediately followed with a giant bite of said ice cream.

❝good, because i don't plan to leave.❞ they confirmed and a smile conjured in the attempt to look like they could be a friendly person. where the fuck was sare to help pass them off as a decent person? being a whole problem somewhere probably flirting that cute ass of hers off. ❝mm, i don't see why not. i have most of my mom's things packed up and store that wasn't put out into the circulation of whatever. i don't care what you do with your room, it's yours.❞ they assumed he would know what they meant. ❝my only things are,❞ they ticked them off their fingers. ❝don't touch my shit without asking, don't come into the garage when i'm working unless it's an emergency, no loud noises before ten a.m., and if you're going to have people over warn me so i can hide. and keep the curtains shut at night.❞
"oh dude i'm not really attached to the place i live at i'd be more than willing to move out and into somewhere else." xavier really just didn't want to live in an apartment, mostly because he liked having his space and a house offered that more than an apartment could. "i guess it's more since it's your childhood home would i be able to decorate? with like posters and shit not changing anything in a permanent way and mostly in the room."

who: @exmcrtis ( sare )
❝ i think there's going to be too many people there and we should probably just skip it. ❞ ever the naysayer to any sort of party, event, gathering, etc. mack was attempting once again to convince their best friend that it was a bad idea. they moved from their spot in the doorway to fold in a semi-sitting crouched position on the couch. ❝ i don't think i've worn my swimsuit since the tenth grade and i don't think i'd swim in that water even if i could still fit into it. ❞ they shook their head. ❝ who knows what kind of supernatural, alien diseases are lurking in there. ❞

there it was, they knew they'd be caught with it the minute they did it. mack also knew that despite any protest they might make, they were going to go wherever sare wanted them to. there was very little chance they'd ever say no to her in any situation. ❝define fun, because getting cross-faded and watching cult classics, ended with some bedroom fun sounds like the best last day to me.❞ mack shrugged and stood up, chuckling at the mention of their morbid proposal. ❝says the person who's talking about our last day on earth, pfft. we have to find the humor somewhere.❞ they followed after her, letting her lead the way to their 'fun and exciting' adventure in the sun. ❝first sign of trouble, we're leaving and i'm still getting crossfaded.❞
"don't roll your eyes at me," sare sing-songed. she didn't need to look at mack to know that that was exactly what they were doing, her instincts always right in that regard. that was the benefit to having grown up together: sare and mack knew each other like the back of their own hands. it was like they had a version of twin telepathy, but this was far better. "i get that bad shit happens here all the time, but that shouldn't stop us from having fun. today could be our very last day on this earth, and you want to spend it sitting at home watching movies? fuck that." slinging a bag over her shoulder, sare reached for mack's arm, gently tugging them to the door. "i don't want to take bets because you always win the bets. plus, that's morbid as fuck."

❝you will not hear me disagree with that. i socialize plenty with the person and occasionally people i would like to socialize with and that is where i like to keep it.❞ and they didn't see reason for it to be any different given the current circumstances. mack truly enjoyed their alone time and they didn't think there was anything wrong with that.
"people think I should socialize more too sometimes. I don't know why I should have to" Mason could remember all the teachers growing up that had tried to make him socialize more with the other kids. When he had things hadn't always gone the best. Typically they just ended with kids bullying him more than they already did.

mack took a moment to let the frozen treat partially melt in their mouth and swallow before answering him. ❝because my platonic life partner does not share my general ire for humanity and i love her more than i dislike making small talk.❞ though the gathering has not been completely awful thus far. ❝at least they have ice cream.❞
"Why do you have to socialize? You could not do that." Mason replied, he wasn't the best at socializing either. Not with most people at least. It was, perhaps, an inherited Greene trait.

mack rolled their eyes, though they know she can't see it. at that point they were nearly certain they could call each other's reactions with certainty whether they saw them or not. ❝right and they truly put our safety to the highest regard.❞ mack scoffed, they didn't have much faith in the leaders of the city ( or any government/authority figure ) but especially not since they lost their mother. ❝agree to disagree, sorbet but it doesn't matter.❞ they let out a defeated sigh, ever adding to the dramatics. ❝i have something on under my clothes if i need to jump in and save you from drowning.❞ though they hoped not to have to use it. ❝want to start a bet on how many we lose to stupidity today, ms. raspberry beret?❞
"you're being dramatic," sare called from her closet, her body half-buried in a pile of clothes as she searched for one specific thing. she was the social butterfly in the relationship, always wanting to drag mack places to have fun despite knowing they hated large gatherings. sare wasn't giving them much of a choice this time around. "they wouldn't let us swim in the lake if there were alien diseases in there, macaroni. hell, there's a whole fucking portal in that thing and they still think it's fine to swim in. you just, as i said, being dramatic."

mack had moved off to the side of things to light a smoke. they missed cloves, but that was yet another thing lost not long after lovecraft cursed their town. ❝who's askin'?❞ mack eyed xavier as he approached. ❝well i'm not particularly keen on the idea of moving out of my childhood home, either. so i suppose the first question would be, are you willing to move into mine and if not what do you have to offer that's worth me giving that up in lieu of an apartment?❞
who: xavier and mack where: and they were roommates pt.2 electric boogaloo @cryptidkeepp
xavier told lavender he'd be right back and walked up to who he could've sworn was the person who put something at the trading post looking for a new roommate. "mack right?" he asked them. "i saw your roommate thing, town figured out my roommate moved out and said i either need to find another or move into an apartment and iiiii don't want to do that soooooo it's seems we both can benefit one another."
