1998 Macavity

98 Macavity is my favorite. I love his creepy Disney villain laugh. I love how he runs around the stage just feeling himself before engaging in attempted kidnapping and beating the tar out of two other cats before disappearing as quickly as he appeared. He is evil. He is sexy. He is deliciously over-dramatic. He is the best.

I am very proud of how this turned out. Also, though you can't really see it, i went ham on giving him really pretty detailed eyes.

Happy to post my piece for the @namingofcatszine! I had the honor of drawing Macavity >:D (ft. Demeter)

From concept to execution this piece was a real challenge for me but so, so fun! Macavity is such an intriguing, arresting character with so many different interpretations - I primarily drew inspiration from his 2016 Broadway revival design. I really hope I conveyed his mystery >:3

I’m sooo grateful for getting the chance to participate ❤️ This was my first ever zine and I had such a wonderful experience working alongside so many talented artists, writers, and creators. Peach did a fantastic job coordinating, shoutout to them!

(FYI: when I entered the zine I was using drygrasses as my signature but have since started using chopshajen as my primary art handle, which is why I’m posting it here)

I didn't intend for this to become a series but I'm pretty happy that it did. Some of the pieces mirror/reference each other bc I wanted them too (tugger and bomba being the big one, grizabella and jemima are going to mirror each other two bc of the show)

I've had so much fun doing this honestly dancing is my absolute favourite kind of poses to draw 🩷
