okay so. snapped is basically we looked the characters and said "what is their 'just one bad day' scenario and what would it do." What pushes them over the limit. And we did that.

Wukong snapped at some point along the jttw. He got tired or being used and abused and hurt. The monk used the circlet one too many times, Wukong had had enough. You can guess what happened. He goes on to heaven to ask them for help removing circlet, and they refuse. He eliminates everyone who knows about the circlet, what it does, and most importantly how to use it. He takes it a step further and ends up taking over his world so no one can hurt him again. He eliminates any threats in his way. (Like DBK, for example.) He's free.

Macaque snaps not long after/during Wukong's rampage through heaven. He tries to step in at some point and gets caught in the crossfire. He's not killed, but he's badly wounded, and thats his final straw. His shadows were hard enough to control already, he just...succumbed to them. Let himself get taken over. Macaque was left behind when Wukong left to fight heaven (the first time/the furnace incident), and then lived through Erland burning the mountain down, and the hunters poaching, and other demons taking the mountain over, and 500 years away from his best friend, and to top it all off his best friend tried to kill him. Accidentally/unknowingly, but still. (This event also contributes to Wukong snapping, he sees evidence of having fought Macaque and assumes him dead, hence part of his issues too.)

MK is not pushed over the limit, but...he's getting there. He's still Wukong's protege, but...its not healthy. Wukong doesn't really care about him. After a few hundred years ruling, Wukong got bored. So he's training MK up as something to do. MK is entertainment in his eyes, nothing more. But he's still trying his best to impress his mentor, and that's taking a toll.

Him and Red Son (orphaned after DBK tried to stand up to Wukong) are pretty close (Mei too, but we haven't quiiiiite figured her out yet.). Red Son is quietly working out ways to deal with...all of this. Not very publically. He saw what happened to his dad.

We...really haven't delved too crazy much into the plot of it outside of how we threw it into the core multiverse, but. Yeah.
