Y’all wtf I just finished Hungry Hearts Neo I can’t believe this shit is over
What do I do with my life now
I am filled the beautiful tragic baggage of three games worth of characters and I don’t know how to handle it
———
Okay but seriously the Hungry Hearts trilogy is some of the BEST mobile games I’ve played in a while. I normally don’t like idle games but the pure heart, serenity, and general world of the trilogy is something that just always makes my day better. I was never too miffed to let granny rest for a while and come back later to serve and listen to my customers once more like I usually am with the nature of idle games.
The ways character’s stories intertwined with each other, the lessons they learned, the insight that was brought to them before your very eyes, the heartbreaking and heartfelt realizations, the specialized food requests filled with earnest and meaning, Grannys OWN narratives and conflicts she works through, SO FULL OF LOVE (seriously, this game made me cry several times)
Not to mention the art style that stays consistently GORGEOUS every game, the music although simple remains classy and calming, the food looks like the tastiest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life
As a child of an Asian household, who has been privy to SEVERAL of the dishes shown in the games throughout the years, the food brought an immense amount of nostalgia with it as well. Every dish I cooked, I could almost taste the very thing on my tongue, the pork cutlet dishes and spam musubi being two of my highlights as well as two of my favorite dishes in real life (which, obviously).
Yes there were ads that got on my nerves sometimes, but I honestly didn’t mind too bad (I loved these games enough that I didn’t mind gritting my teeth for a few seconds to support them). Also the ad rewards of either a rush or max energy refill was 100% worth the quick ad watch.
I learned to adore each and every character within the three games, their stories slowly unraveling with each and every meal. I of course adored the characters that kept coming back, like Mr Jizo, Officer Hiro, lovely little Mabo (who we watched grow up with tears in our eyes), and Dr Mondo (who was missing from the second game which was agonizing to me while playing it).
My favorite characters being probably Dr. Mondo, Mabo, Slick, Scarlett, Grimm, Sapphire, and Fudeko (apparently my type is hot women in colorful dresses and suspicious men along with a small child and tragic backstory doctor thrown into there for fun)
The perfect model of a quaint little town (or at least quaint little section of town) in 1970s Japan a few decades post WWII (in some customer stories, you find remnants of the effects of WWII on Japanese citizens), the games have the perfect vibes DOWN TO A TEE.
Overall though, I love the Hungry Hearts trilogy SO DANG MUCH and it makes me so sad to see so little love for the games online. Seriously, if you love calm vibes, heartfelt storytelling, gorgeous art, and even if you don’t love those things, PLAY THESE GAMES ❤︎❤︎❤︎

As a coda to this canned corn soup polemic, look at this! There’s a new face in the vending machine! Next to the ubiquitous corn potage and the standard consommé, we have a mysterious stranger called mabo soup. Huh!
Normally this is something I would investigate more thoroughly, but it was nearing 1am on Day 431 of Election Day, I had to catch the last train home, and I was just too news-drunk (and also drunk-drunk) to process any new or soup-related information. So, further updates as events warrant.
#the thing about train stations these days#is you have to watch out for the old men#who TAKE OFF THEIR MASKS TO COUGH#it really gets in the way of my vending machine blogging#anyway#corn soup#mabo tofu

Questions to Hibiki from fans
Source (I used a translator and only arranged it a little so it makes more sense so it could be full of mistakes.)
- I'm going to ask you some really stupid questions. What would you like to look like if you were dressed as a woman? With what hairstyle What to wear Who do you want to show it to?
Sadako! [I can’t really understand the rest of the reply...xD]
- What do you think about wearing a dress? Can you wear a dress? Can you show it? I'm not sane? Wearing a dress? I think that it does not suit me even a little, so...
- What kind of girl does Hibiki like? I don't really like it... [I don't know what this is supposed to mean, if he doesn't like girls or if he just don't have a certain kind...I tend to say the latter. ;)] If anything, I tend to like people who appear more normal other than showy gals.
- Hibiki, which one are you, S or M? I don't know what to say, which one could it be? Maybe it's totally N! Neutral? It depends on the situation.
- Do you have any rules for living, Hibiki? My rule is...not to hurt people. This is a difficult game, so I don't know if I make it or not. Also, I think that I will not act like bending my core.
- How old are you? About 317 years old [Something with the name 'Saiba buru' is mentioned, but I don't know what it is...]
- Do you have any particular belongings? My favorite item is a ring that I got from my friend.

- Will Hibiki give up if the opposite sex you love only sees you as a friend? I give up and I don't want to approach in particular (I think it depends on how much I like)
- What kind of personality do you often get along with? And what do you do if you fight? Do you often apologize from yourself? I will make friends with rock people and people who think of me properly. If it ’s a fight, if I ’m bad, I ’ll apologize right away and don’t pull it.

[By the way, it is nice how he ends the blog entry with 'A man who lives at night, Hibiki'. :D]

As far as I can remember, I remember drinking about 5 cups of mugs at a tavern. After that, I'm drinking with a dull, so surely more ... If someone does not count it, it will remain a mystery!

Merafong’s Theatre Griot, a master of the craft!
By: Morena Maboe
Recently I had the liberty of sitting down with a gentleman making serious strides in the theatre industry, and as a custodian of arts, sports and culture in Merafong I could not let such talent, consistency and shear tenacity go unrecognized and undocumented. Thabo “Mahavater” Ramaine of Mythology arts foundation is a formidable force to be reckoned with. As I sat down with him, taking all of this down, I saw what remarkable human beings we could all be, by just being passionate with what we do regardless of the obstacles we face.
Thabo’s story with the arts started way back in the year 2000 when he started doing gumboots dancing as an introduction to introduce himself into the arts, in the following year he joined a dance crew that was doing Sbotjwa and drama named Mazibuye Theatre productions based in Khutsong, this is where he also got his acting influence. With Mazibuye, Thabo or “Mahavatar” as he is mysteriously known by his fans and disciples, went on to compete in the North West Cultural Calabash, which was the first competitive theatre and dance festival he attended. The crew went on to compete in the Achimotar Festival that was hosted in Zamdela in Sasolburg, for two years in a row. T, in the same place they also took part in the Bill Cosby arts Festival, here the focus for Thabo was more on Theatre and perfecting the craft. They won the first trophy in the preliminary rounds and also went on to win the ultimate trophy in the finals.
As part of the festival, they had a social which was separated from theatre, named the candlelight poetry session, where each crew had to pick one group member to recite a poem that is not from their original plays. Mahavatar was the lucky guy, but despite trying hard he could only jot down 4 lines, when he got to the stage he dropped 4 lines. Unaware that in poetry there is a category for a 4 stanza poems, he went on to write more of those and his writing skill improved.
Mahavatar went on to join a group named T.K Cultural group and after that Simunye Cultural group, which influenced his love for dancing, they did categories ranging from street dance, Sbotjwa and gumboots dancing.
Upon joining what S’thibo terms as “the best school” in Joburg when it comes to theatre, the Afrika Cultural Centre (A.C.C) in Newtown, falling in the ever so capable hands of Benjy Francis, the Khutsong raised lad fall in love with a new style of dancing termed as contemporary.
His first professional production was done in 2008, at the A.C.C. written by renowned play writer Zakes Mofokeng produced and directed by Benjy Francis named “the Train”. Other plays he took part in include “The Vicious circle” by Benjy Francis which was part of the annual student production at A.C.C, “the calling” written & directed by Sello Modisadife, “Visions” also by Modisadife and “The Cult” played at the Cultural Calabash also from the same writer. Upon leaving at A.C.C he played in a production while residing in Soweto, Protea North called “Sa Mme”. Thabo later learned was selected to go for training in Denmark but he had already returned home and had phone problems, so he could not be reached.
When he explains it he describes contemporary as breaking the rules of classical ballet but still keeping to the underlying philosophy of classical ballet dancing, however he was more fascinated by the feeling that came with contemporary style of dance. Under the mentorship of Benjyi Francis, he became more aware of the physical side of theatre, which includes basic techniques, understanding how the body moves and blending that with self-expression. On a second level, in he came in contact with the depth that came with theatre that is using your imagination and feelings. This is where he transitioned as an actor and also developed his own signature style.
Mahavatar’s recent work include Komeng by the legendary Sello Maake Ka-Ncube that they played in all 9 provinces for a period of 8 months in 2018. After auditioning at the Market Theater in November of 2018, hosted by the Luthando Arts Academy, he played in Amawethu dance theatre production in 2019 produced by Luyanda Sediya. One of the highlights of S’thibo’s career was playing in “Buwa” a musical written by the iconic South African composer and musician Caiphas Semenya in 1986 about the injustices of apartheid. Directed by Sello Maake Ka-Ncube and music director Tshepo Mngoma the music extravaganza celebrated Mr Semenya’s 80th birthday in style at the Market Theatre. Mahavatar exclaims that the experience was great as he got a chance to work with some of the best actors and musicians in the country, the likes of Sipho “Hotsticks” Mabuza, Zwai Bala and the legendary Tshepo Tshola, ‘the experience was great because once you work with the greats it means you are great, and you catch impartations from observing how they do things, how they produce and to see the whole process’ Thabo explained.
He played a pivotal role in the play because of the character he was portraying. Thabo played Paulus De Villiers, the minister of Defence during the apartheid era, from the National Party (NP) government, he had to portray a hardcore apartheid white man role, played in a Boar accent. The play takes setting in a conference room scene. Thabo explains that he had to bring his A-game as the show reeked in audiences from across the country, including the likes of politician Julius Malema, it was sold out three days before the actual musical.
Mahavatar’s own productions include the award winning “Mount Havilla” piece which won both Best Actor award and Best Production, in 2015 and 2016 respectively, at the Spear Arts Festival hosted in Ekhurhuleni. Thabo says the play was inspired by the journey of spiritual growth, it came from also reading and researching a lot about different spiritual leaders and being introduced to meditation and dealing with himself. He also started writing about the key to self-transcendence and spiritual searching everywhere only to find the key within yourself. The path to “Mount Havila” is not to be taken as a physical journey but a raw metaphor, its abstract theater mixed with experimental theater.
His Own productions
In 2017 he produced a play called “Black Smith” which started out as a one man show, he later decided to franchise and create and extended version of the paly and called it “the Archives” which was a 4 hander piece that was set in nice library setting. He performed it in 2018, there was more demand for it outside of Merafong. He was approached by The Archives center in Krugersdorp to render the play there, at the center people around the Gauteng area can track their family lineage, and it also keeps records and archives from apartheid land dispositions, upon opening Gauteng Premier, David Makhura was quoted saying “The facility will help us preserve societal memorabilia of historical value of Gauteng and its people. It will store official public documents that are 20 years or older from various entities including government, NGOs, and learning and research institutions. This will eliminate cases of distorted history told by different people from different angles,” The center has been in operation since 2017 and has already received records and information from departments like the Sedibeng District Municipality, Emfuleni Municipality, City of Johannesburg, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Transport, Sport, Arts and Culture, and Recreation https://krugersdorpnews.co.za/368190/new-archives-centre-will-keep-our-history-safe/ As a result he had to display an industrial theater piece that was more educational .
Mahavatar went on to write “The Proposal”, which he feels is very different from his signature style of theater. The play was about the plight against Gender Based Violence, the lack of ‘mental hygiene’ from guys. In the play he portrays this guy that uses a marriage proposal to control his woman and keep them obedient, traits he learned from his father. The piece aims to focus more on men, the journey to violence, how men perceive themselves and their emotional intelligence. Tackles how we can cleanse ourselves and to redefine ourselves, standing up to our demons as men.
Beyond Clandestine which Mahavatar explained as meaning an “inner core truth” is a YouTube film series that was born during the corona lockdown with all the news and conspiracy theories and seeing people’s response, also seeing how the systems has us under their thrall and manipulates us. In the series the lead actor goes on a journey to uncover the truth beyond what we are given and uses a militant approach, but later realizes there are other ways to fight the system.
After completing a 6 weeks course in filming in Cape Town, he used his skills to produce these series, set up in his garage is a large green screen which is used to create the location in the background of the videos, and he uses Computer generated images (C.G.I) to edit and not an actual tangible location. With the training budget from the company he is currently working for he did this digital film, the vision with this project going forward is to grow, cast more actors, gather more resources and take the work mainstream while creating a profile. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzywGzaMWgk
The production of the Nomads was not planned, it was a default film born from the 48 hour film project 2020. It is an adrenalin race for who can produce a film in 48 hours with the given directives from the competition hosts. You are provided with certain elements that you should add in your film, like a prop, a character name, and a line that must be said somewhere in the film from 2 genres either a silent film or action. They were nominated for best costume, best produced film, best musical composition as the music used in the film was self-produced by them, and lastly best cinematography. All this work that was to be produced in 48 hours was submitted 12 hours before deadline meeting all requirements.
It was screened at Sterkinekor Theater at mall of Africa on the 23rd of October 2020 to a full house. They plan to reshoot for a 2021 screening, with the aim to later merge it with “Beyond Clandestine”
Beyond Clandestine, an “inner core truth”
Mahavatar aims to finish season 1 of “Beyond Clandestine” with episode six, and start season 2 with a bit more resources. In theater he plans to do “The Archives” and a new version of Mount Havila done in a musical fashion named “Lere la Moya”.
The Nomads; a “race for time” film

SEND 🌶 TO GIVE MY MUSE SOMETHING TOO HOT TO EAT OR 🍰 TO GIVE THEM SOMETHING TASTY - Accepting
It was as if Snake remembered that Big Boss WAS part Japanese, as such, he’d had some exposure to some of the food of said country and one thing he’d always heard about was Mabo Tofu, more specifically, a very spicy (more than normal) despite it being a Chinese dish. But Big Boss ate pretty much anything he was handed, so he wasn’t going to turn his back on this thing.
Now, he may not have the skill to detect which spice does what or how it plays in a plate but he COULD tell that this plate that he was offered was made from a combination of 10 different spices. He tried to bite back the urge to drop the thing and go drink water or milk (Para-Medic had mentioned something about milk being a good way to get rid of the heat of a spicy dish) but he kept on eating until the fifth mouthful proved too much for even the Legendary Soldier to handle. He dropped the plate and made a break for the Mother Base Hall, not caring if his men saw him drinking a gallon of milk because he had eaten one of the spiciest things he’s eaten so far.

Shopping for a toddler boy
Wilkie, who turns two next week !!, is officially potty-trained. Hooray! It gives me such pleasure knowing I will never have to do that again! Five babies down…. no more to go…! Haha. (Of course there are plenty more parenting challenges to face, but potty-training thankfully isn’t one of them.)
Anyway, I had forgotten what potty-training means for your little one’s wardrobe. They can no longer wear onesies and cute rompers, not even the trusty dungarees! Once they’re potty-trained, they have to be able to pull their pants up and down. Suddenly I realised we needed to buy some t-shirts and separate tops and bottoms, and this sent me on a little search for cute, easy-to-wear clothes for a toddler boy.
Of course I hit up some trusty favourites like Mabo for organic cotton basics and Gray Label for cute organic cotton shorts, but in my search for other brands, I’ve stumbled upon some new discoveries. I thought I would share them here:
I actually discovered Hey Gang in our very own shopping portal (it’s handy, that thing!). I ordered Wilkie some tees, trousers and a pair of overalls (I couldn’t resist). They arrived in completely eco/recycled packaging, which I loved, and everything is so cute.
The new cotton tees from Petits Vilains are SO super soft (seriously, I want one for myself!). I’m loving everything in their new collection, including the organic cotton shorts and linen harem trousers.
I ordered Wilkie a few Nico Nico tanks from Darling Clementine (on sale!) and they are so cute and soft — like your favourite vintage tee. I secretly love seeing Wilkie in a little ‘muscle tee’. I can’t get enough of those chubby little arms.
I asked a couple friends (both mums boys) here in Byron for recommendations on boy’s clothes and they both told me about the Australian brand Basikke. They specialise in clothes for women and men, but have a small selection of loungewear-style clothes for kids too. Apparently the quality is amazing.
I pinned this ‘Good Things Happen’ tee on Pinterest ages ago and couldn’t help but order one for Wilkie. It’s funny because I’ve never been a huge fan of slogan tees, but suddenly I’m in to them. Byron is rubbing off on me! Haha.
And of course there is the local Byron brand, Millk, founded by friends of mine. I love their sweet little shorts — Wilkie has a pair of the classic shorts in Fleck and they’re so sweet and short and perfect on his chubby legs. : )
Shopping for boys is definitely trickier than shopping for girls! Please share your favourite brands below.

Melbourne students push to dump house names
A student-led overthrow of Box Hill High house names, dumping Melbourne founder John Batman and recognising the likes of Kerryn Phelps, Anh Do, Fred Hollows and Dylan Alcott, has gone back to the drawing board. Late last year the Year 11 and Year 12 leadership group started agitating for the existing names Batman, explorer and WA Premier John Forrest, Prime Minister Alfred Deakin and Antarctic explorer Douglas Mawson to be dumped. SCHOOL WANTS TO DITCH BATMAN NAME NEW PRINCIPAL FOR TRINITY AFTER HAIRCUT SAGA While there was support for a discussion, alumni and some within the school felt blindsided and concerned that they were being railroaded. They also questioned the relevance and suitability of some of the four female and four male options championed by the student body.

Picture: Tony Gough Tennis player Evonne Goolagong-Cawley, Australian of the Year Lowitja ODonoghue, athlete Cathy Freeman, medico and now Federal MP Phelps, former Victorian premier Joan Kirner, Marita Cheng a Young Australian of the Year in 2012 for her work in promoting women in STEM Edith Cowan, the first woman in parliament, and Elizabeth Kenny, who served as nurse in WW1, were suggested. Male options were heart surgeon Dr Victor Chang, indigenous footballer Michael Long, ophthalmologist Hollows, indigenous activist Eddie Mabo, comedian Do, indigenous elder William Barak, wheelchair athlete Alcott and inventor John OSullivan. Students from the school, which has around 1300 students from diverse backgrounds, said they wanted to honour two women and two men who reflected racial diversity and sport, politics, arts, culture and community and had made a genuine and recognisable contribution to the community. Batmans legacy has come under fire in recent years after he was implicated in the massacre of Aboriginal people in Tasmania before founding Melbourne. The electoral division of Batman has been renamed after indigenous activist William Cooper.

Box Hill principal Losh Pillay said yesterday a decision was expected later this year. Box Hill High School has set up a working group made up of students, parents, school council members and staff to explore options for new house names an idea that was initiated by our year 11 and 12 students last year, Ms Pillay said. This working group will present a range of options to both the school community and the school council, with a decision expected later in the year.

School council president Marcus Balon said a sub committee of council had been appointed and would report back to council regarding a process to address any change. The new approach may see some of the earlier suggestions replaced. In his parting message, 2018 school captain Madusha Karunsagara applauded the move to change the houses, which are thought to date to the schools foundation year in 1930. It is a part of human nature to fear change and the unknown, with the movement generating mixed responses. However, I hope we set a precedent on how to give the entire population of Box Hill High a say in relation to the image the school presents, and even the way it runs, he wrote in the school newsletter. A parent at the school said while they did not oppose the change they wanted consultation. Anh Do might be the happiest refugee but I am not sure he has ever been to Box Hill, the parent said. A Year 12 student in Batman house at Box Hill High said she supported the change but students had been left in the dark after the initial flurry of activity late last year. I understand why they want to change it but it has taken ages to say if they are actually changing them, she said. Batman house captain in 2016 Jess Critchley-Roy said she supported a change, questioning the relevance of the existing names. It would be good to connect more to Australian indigenous history, or even people who are from the area and are influential, she said. Boneta-Marie Mabo, b. 1984 Boneta-Marie J Mabo (Neta-Rie), Piadram, Munbarra, Sugar slave descendant, an angry black woman and a lover of fashion and art Australia (2016) [Source]
She’s the granddaughter of Eddie Mabo! The Conversation says:
With her first solo exhibition, artist Boneta-Marie Mabo has been inspired by the State Library of Queensland’s collections to create new works that speak back to colonial representations of Indigenous womanhood.
She found portraits of Indigenous women without any name, or with labels such as “black velvet” or “gin”; objects, rather than women. Men on the frontier sought to control Aboriginal lands as well as women’s bodies – with or without consent...
But Boneta-Marie’s exhibition, Black Velvet: your label, is more than a response to the past. It’s also about the struggle not to let others define our identity. And it’s a celebration of Indigenous women today, including Boneta-Marie’s grandmother, activist and Order of Australia winner Bonita Mabo.

Tales of Zestiria the X ep 13 Reaction Post
Hey guys! It’s Sunday~! Let’s get this party started! Cutting so people can read it when they get to see it~!
Oh no, here we go, first episode of the season, and it’s pure Lailah history/Michael feels right at the start. I wonder if we’ll get more on Michael’s journey beyond what’s shown in the Iris Gems?
LOL Rose and your way of dealing “business”, and the boys just running commentary is rather hilarious. Also, those thieves must be terrible if even Sorey can tell they’re suspicious types. I really like the music here since it keeps up this playful mood. And Sorey trying to warn them right before Rose beats them all up, followed by her cheerfulness while beating them up . . . lol. I also like how we’re getting a little bit more of Rose the boss of the Sparrowfeathers instead of just mostly Rose the boss of the Scattered Bones.
I like how it’s Lailah and Mikleo that’s helping him to train into becoming a better Shepherd. Lailah makes sense given her maternal nature and status as Prime Lord, but having Mikleo there (even if it’s for the “contradiction” of fire and water) just adds to the idea that Mikleo’s still there to support Sorey no matter what.
I love how Rose’s reasoning to Not Do Something is because Alisha Won’t Like It, lol. Like, really Rose? XD
What? No lolercopter Bad Bad Bad Acting from Sorey to sneak into Lastonbell? I’m . . . a little disappointed, but alas. It’s hard to justify when they weren’t exactly in hiding after Glaivend Basin either.
Okay, so I guess we still get to keep them meeting Mayvin at the midpoint.
Ah, Ruin Nerds as always. Set down a set of artifacts in front of them and they’ll sit there and discuss them and get lost in their own little world.
I really do like how we’re seeing more of both sides of Rose here - in the game, we saw a lot more of Rose the Assassin, the leader of the Scattered Bones, so it’s nice to see more of how she is as a merchant and how the Sparrowfeathers are so successful.
Sergei, straight laced and serious as ever, I see. I like how Rose’s the one to talk to Sergei and be practical and realistic when it’s clear Sorey’s rather sheltered and may not actually know his way around the world.
And Mayvin breaking the tension with his request for a drink and Rose being all Not Okay with sharing after all, lol. The statues and the lore we’re given here is a nice touch given Sergei and Sorey’s friendship in the game and them starting off not exactly on friendly terms either.
I like how we’re weaving in Michael’s story here, given he’s the one who kicked off the current Age of Chaos. His statement here though . . . For one thing, it’s a nice little Callback to the opening quote in Tales of Phantasia that if there is darkness, it is in the hearts of men. At the same time, it’s one of the few glimpses we’ve gotten into Michael the person as opposed to just him as the author of the Celestial Record and his status as the previous Shepherd.
LOL Sergei getting drunk oh my god. Sergei, you’re totally sloshed. There’s no way you can keep up with Sorey. Besides, Sorey’s too honest and good and nice to actually run off on you, Sergei, lol.
Ah yes, precise words Bishop Reno
I’m really digging the new OP sequence. I really really like that slow pan the camera does of Mikleo right at the start, not gonna lie. And we get all 4 armatuses this time for Sorey, but only of Sorey, no Rose . . . I wonder if this means she won’t become his squire until the end like with Alisha?
And the Lastonbell bgm for the skit! (I wonder if we’ll get Pendrago’s when they get there?) And mabo curry buns! And yup, I’m calling this confirmed - Sorey totally does the savory foods for the party, but snacks he just epic fails at. I mean, seriously, I have Sorey up to like, skill level 20-ish now in my save and he still fails maybe a quarter of the time in making something edible. Edna succeeds more often than he does and she’s at least a few levels behind him!
