Some of my followers might already know these things from old ask games and hearing me talk about my worldbuilding incessantly. But for those of you who are new, or overwhelmed with all the terms and names I throw around with respect to my story, here’s a reference post that begins to explain some of the factors at play in the main conflict of Storge!
This information can also be found under the links on my WIP page, but this is a more concise and up-to-date version with all the relevant information in one place, so I’d reccomend checking it out if you’re confused! It got long, so the rest of the lore will be coming in next week’s post. I hope you find it interesting!
Adding the Storge Taglist (ask to be added/removed, boosts appreciated!) @inkwell-attitude @re-writing-h @thescreamingtwenties @siarven @kittensartswriting @yearlyaquariace @abalonetea @andiwriteunderthemoon @the-starlight-chills @davey-in-a-minivan @the-great-teller-of-tales @a-smol-biblophile @scxundress @overlap @isanyonetoknow @piyawrites @viawrites-andacts @zielenbloesem @thiscrypticfangirl

The Kingdom of Maar
Here is the lore post for Maar i pormised! It is only the history as I did go a bit overboard with literally everything lol. At least have this as I sort out the rest
(We love going overboard for Lore™)
WARNING: long post
HISTORY OF MAAR
What came when
people originated from Maryam
They searched for land in hopes of a better future and life
Water, not Land!
a small land in the Siyabun Sea becomes their new home
very slowly building homes at the coast and trying to grow differnt crops
creating a new faith so the people stick together (also found traces of ancient civilisation which they mix with the pagen religions from Maryam)
trying to resume their normal life with what they have
slowly building an army (ya know, just in case)
Hey, who wants wine?
finding fertile soil higher up
finding grapes and starting to grow them
make wine, discover demand and profit, selling time!
discover small amounts of metal (like iron, gold, copper, etc.) and start mining and smithing
Who the fuck?
tryed conversion/invasion by the Lucitanians
expanding the army into a small navy fleet
using self-made weapons and stopping the invasion
Lucitanians give up
destroied crops and some coastal villages due to the fight
needing to expand further into the mountains and higher up
Even more metal!!
through forced expantion discovered more raw metal in mountains
expantion of mining and usage of metal in every day life
finding more traces of ancient civilisation and starting to use the runic magic system
Come and get some!
establishing international trading and political and diplomatic bonds
great respons
Roundtrip
Eldar visits Pars for diplomatic discussions with Gotarzes
an accident happens
Eldar dies
Moja takes over until Farzin is old enough
Another expantion!
strenthening nayvel forces
expanding wine fields
New era of reign
marrige to Serrilda
Farzin succeeds the throne
new law that everyone can serve in the army
florishing international trade
What, again?
tryed invasion by Lucitania again
after they tried to invaed Maryam and where stoped by Pars
failed again (even worse than before)
Now
sending a small delegation to Pars
offer help against Lucitania
Andragoras refuses and sends them away
under the order of Farzin, they still help in the shadows
Later, form alliance with Arslan, which is even later revoked by Andragoras again

HERE SHE IS!!!!
It took so long to draw the background and deciding on her color palette! I wanted her palette to show a little lore, but it was hard to balance the white with the leather😫. Especially as my research showed that white leather would not have been a thing in her time🥲.
But enough of that. Let me intreduce you to:
Azar, a high ranking general and one of the best warriors in all of Maar!
She was born into two parsian warrior families in the year P.E. 294 in Ecbatana, Pars, which makes her 26 years old. She is 170cm/5'5f tall.
Her tutelary god is Tiw, the maaren god of war—especially treaties—and of justice. He also oversees the moot (general assembly) and court cases. He stands for fair fights, victory and peace.
She moved to the village of Rus in Maar, where her aunt Sanaz, her fathers sister, lives with her family. After some time and events she moved to the capital of Maar, Vigard, and officaly became a squire. She worked hard and long and at the age of 16 she became an offical knight. From there she climbed the ranks of the maaren army very fast and at the age of 22 she became the highest ranking general, an Almennt (Almennt = Eran).
Similar to Daryun, Azar also has gained a few nicknames amongst her enemies, like the white general or the white death. The white coming from her mostly white armor and the death coming from her being infamouse for mowing down her enemies.
Azar also acts as the mentor to the maaren crown prince Aleksi and is rumered to be very close with the royal family, the "Elvenking" Farzin, his wife Queen Serrilda and the dowager queen Moja.
How will she fit with Team Arslan? Will they get along? How did the meet? And most importantly - what is that familiar yet strange air/aura between Azar and Daryun? Does Vahriz have anything to do with this? What does he know?
These questioned will be answered!
... someday...

An update about Maaren lore
Currently working on expanding on general Maaren lore and their gods are currently being put through the wringers (and also adding fortresses, named after georgian gods/myhtology).
Why, oh why, does Georgian Mythology have so many gods that basically stand for the same thing?? I have seen at least three different gods who stand for some kind of fertility and two who stand for agruculture! Two others for cattle! Cattle!
I have atleast fused two gods with the same spirit now. There are gods and goddesses with no description at all!
Argh! This is so frustrating! I'm dying, send help!
#important writing defender#arslan senki#the heroic legend of arslan#maaren au#firelight au#look Gerogia is a beautiful country with a lot of history#and there are probably not many records of their pagans religions due to chrisitanity and greek mythology taking over at different times#AND there are the regional differences to take into consideration#but OH MY GOD!#decide you guys please!#it's so hard to decide which god/goddess to include in the Maaren pantheon myself#don't make it harder for me#anyway: how are you guys#having a pleasant day hopefully#I sure am having one haha *laughs in insane*

Currently trying to distract myself from hyperventilating about the chapter and being sick by revisiting and expanding my Maaren lore and the country as a whole.
And by writing chapter 9. Why did I think so hard about what type of nut and fruit juice Team Arslan would like 💀
Any ideas?
#arslan senki#the heroic legend of arslan#maaren au#firelight au#blood upon snow#I really just looked up what type of nuts and fruits grow in georgia 💀

Happy World Building Wednesday! What's your favourite legend, fairytale, story or prophecy from one of your worlds or from this one?
Hello there, thanks for the ask!
mmmm I’m not sure how much of the lore of the core Laoche trilogy I can reveal without being spoilers for the end of Storge, so instead, we’re going to go in the religion route and talk about some of the legends in Maaren!
The Laine family is part of a small monotheistic sect called the Followers of the Artist that was brought to the city by travelers from the archipelago like Aimon. They believe that instead of a pantheon of Atilan deities fighting and marrying and having new gods all the time, there’s only one deity who creates all things, and they revere all creative forms of worship. Often, followers will pick one trade to specialize in and they bring their best work to the temple to share with the congregation. There are members who only sing while they’re within its walls, sculptors and painters decorate the area in a collaborative ever-changing decoration project, bards tell stories and musicians provide the hymns.
It’s said that the great heroes of the past were not the generals, ladies, and lords of the Atilan, but instead the people who keep stories alive and contribute stories of their own to make sure that none of the Artist’s work, none of their people, none of their struggles, are forgotten and lost to void. Ordinary people become legends in their own right, and I think that’s pretty cool.
