Preserving African Heritage - The Role of Cultural Safaris in Conservation Efforts
Deep In the heart of Africa, where the rhythmic beats of tribal drums resonate through ancient landscapes, lies a treasure trove of cultural and historical richness waiting to be explored. Cultural and historical safaris in Africa have become not just a means of unraveling the continent's diverse past but also a powerful tool in preserving its invaluable heritage. Here we explain the profound role that cultural safaris play in African conservation efforts, weaving a narrative that transcends time and embraces the vibrant tapestry of Africa's history.
Understanding Cultural and Historical Safaris in Africa
Exploring a cultural safari in Africa is akin to stepping into a time capsule, where each step is a journey into the past. These safaris offer travelers a unique opportunity to witness the living history of diverse communities, explore ancient traditions, and understand the customs that have withstood the test of time. As visitors traverse through the landscapes, they become not just spectators but active participants in the preservation of Africa's cultural and historical wealth.
Cultural Safaris Tour in Africa: A Gateway to Conservation
ATW Holidays Africa, with its main address at Imperial Mall, Plot M79, Lugard Avenue, Entebbe, stands at the forefront of promoting sustainable cultural safaris that contribute to conservation efforts across the continent. Their commitment to preserving heritage is reflected in the meticulous planning of tours that not only showcase Africa's cultural diversity but also support local communities and conservation initiatives.
Community-Based Tourism Initiatives
One of the key pillars of cultural safaris is the emphasis on community-based tourism initiatives. These initiatives empower local communities by involving them in the tourism value chain. Travelers, in turn, get a more authentic and immersive experience, engaging with communities in a way that respects and preserves their cultural heritage.
Through partnerships with local guides and communities, ATW Holidays Africa ensures that their cultural safaris provide a positive impact on both the visitors and the host communities. This approach fosters a sense of pride among locals in their cultural heritage, reinforcing the importance of preserving traditions for future generations.
Conserving Nature Through Cultural Awareness
Beyond the preservation of cultural heritage, cultural safaris contribute significantly to the conservation of Africa's natural wonders. Many cultural sites are located within or adjacent to ecosystems that are home to diverse flora and fauna. By promoting responsible tourism practices, ATW Holidays Africa encourages travelers to appreciate the delicate balance between cultural heritage and the environment.
Cultural safaris often include visits to national parks, wildlife reserves, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, creating a harmonious blend of cultural and natural exploration. This holistic approach fosters a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between human culture and the environment, instilling a sense of responsibility among travelers to contribute to conservation efforts.
The Power of Education and Awareness
Preserving heritage goes hand in hand with educating future generations about the importance of cultural and environmental conservation. Cultural safaris serve as a living classroom, where travelers not only witness history but also gain insights into the challenges faced by local communities and ecosystems.
ATW Holidays Africa integrates educational components into their cultural safaris, offering guided tours led by knowledgeable experts who share stories, anecdotes, and information about the significance of each cultural site. By fostering a sense of appreciation and respect, these tours contribute to the long-term preservation of Africa's rich cultural tapestry.
Tracing Roots and Connecting Continents
Cultural safaris also play a pivotal role in connecting people across continents. Many African diaspora communities, whose roots trace back to the continent, embark on cultural safaris to reconnect with their heritage. This cultural exchange not only enriches the experiences of travelers but also creates a global network of individuals committed to the preservation of Africa's cultural legacy.

Hi hi hi! I’ve been following you for about a month now? I’ve noticed you have an OC named Blair whos interested in Dante and I would like to know about her! I think OC’s are underrated and I love hearing about them so please do share anything you want because this anon is curious!
hello hello hello! I’m so happy you’ve taken an interest in my OC! It always warms my heart when people wanna know more about her, and I completely agree: OC’s are criminally underrated and deserve much more love! Honestly, I haven’t talked about her much in quite a while now but I still think about her and conjure up scenarios/lore about her on the daily. She’s always changing and growing. That being said, I’ll start off with the basics! Her name is Blair Reinhardt, she’s in her mid 30′s, and she’s a 6′2″ beefy bisexual devil hunter! Her main weapon of choice is a giant hammer made from the horns of furiataurus from dmc2 (think like monster hunter hammer in design and size) and she has 3 demon companions: Geri and Freki (also from dmc2) and an original demon called a Valkyrie who lends her their power to use as she sees fit. I’ve also thought about giving her a devil arm that works and looks like an M79 launcher that Nico handcrafted for her, but I’m still figuring out its design and special quirk. And she has a pair of demonic boots with a mean appetite >:3c When she’s not demon hunting with the crew you can usually find her on the eastside of Capulet City where she works as a bartender and pianist/singer at the local music lounge. Personality-wise, Blair is a very sweet and empathetic person with a warm smile for all, but she’s definitely no pushover. She’s upfront and open, doesn’t beat around the bush or sugar coat anything which makes her seem kind of blunt and brash to some but those that are close to her know that she simply values transparency and honesty and doesn’t particularly like people who don’t just say what they mean. She’s a very dependable person and she’ll always be there for her friends as she treasures her interpersonal relationships greatly. Nero, Nico, Kyrie, and Dante are some of the people she is closest to (Vergil would be among this group but he’s more reserved when it comes to friendships, though he does care about Blair and holds an immense amount of respect for her. And he gladly goes on hunts with her too if the opportunity ever occurs!) I had commissioned this wonderful artist for a character ref sheet for Blair that I have been meaning to make a post about so now’s as good a time as any! Here she is! ^3^
I’m love her so much ;w; she is my pride and joy and one of my few OC’s who is actually almost completely fleshed out. Again, I’m so honored that someone wants to know more about her, and if you have any other questions about her or if there’s anything in specific you’re curious about, please feel free to ask! I know I haven’t been very active on this blog what with the pandemic happening and my adhd getting worse and hyperfixating on fire emblem 3 houses (where I have also managed to insert Blair into lmao) but hopefully I’ll actually start writing again. And I’ll write some stuff about Blair and her lazy, pizza-loving hubby and how much they love each other ☺️👉👈

Left 4 Dead 2 Icon 2, Left 4 Dead B, Left 4 Dead logo, png | PNGEgg
💾 ►►► DOWNLOAD FILE 🔥🔥🔥 Left 4 Dead 2 is a multiplayer survival horror first-person shooter developed by Valve Software, and the sequel to the Left 4 Dead. Set in the Southern United States during a zombie outbreak, players try to survive the outbreak by fighting their way through the horde, controlling one of the four survivors: Coach, Ellis, Nick, and Rochelle. Left 4 Dead 2 inherits much of the gameplay from its predecessor. In the regular campaign mode, up to four players must cooperate and fight their way through hordes of zombies to reach either a safe house at the end of a chapter or a rescue vehicle at the end of a campaign which is made up of chapters. Also added in these DLCs are ports of all campaigns from the original Left 4 Dead , featuring the original survivors but with the new enemy types and weapons from L4D2. Weapons in Left 4 Dead 2 function similarly to the first game, but many new weapons are added. Players can carry one secondary weapon and one primary weapon. Primary weapons include shotguns, submachine guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, as well as the M79 grenade launcher and the M60 machine gun. Secondary weapons have infinite reserve ammo, while primary weapons have limited reserve ammo and need to be resupplied with ammo piles; the M79 and the M60 are the exception as they cannot be resupplied, and are dropped when their ammo is used up. Aside from a few places with fixed item spawns, spawns of weapons and other equipment are generally randomized under an "AI Director" system, which determines the spawns of enemies and items to provide a continuously engaging experience. Weapons are generally divided into two tiers, a lower tier 1 and a higher tier 2. Using the secondary fire key will make the player character perform a non-damaging shove with their weapon, which stumbles and pushes back enemies. Most guns in L4D2 feature equipped flashlights; the lights from these flashlights move accordingly with the weapon's animations. L4D2 also features deployable crates of incendiary ammo and explosive ammo, which are uncommon spawns and occupy the position of the player's first aid kit. Once deployed, each player can use the deployed ammo crate once, giving their primary weapon an extra magazine of the special ammunition. L4D2 also features laser sight pickups, which are immediately fitted to the player's primary weapon when picked up; in most cases, the lasers appear to come out of the primary weapon's attached flashlight. On a final note, weapons in L4D2 are not formally named in gameplay; names of weapons noted on this page are primarily sourced from weapon names as marked in Whitaker's gun shop a location visited in Dead Center chapter 2 , as well as some inferred names based on Source entity names. It is modeled after a P SAO sans the beavertail with a slightly shorter than standard slide and barrel. The gun also features a custom reverse two-tone finish, custom sights, and an underbarrel LT-TLP08 tactical flashlight. A Glock 26 pistol is used as the second handgun for dual wielding. It has the Glock 26's short grip and slide shape, but its slide and frame are stretched to the length of a standard sized Glock like the Glock The Glock is also the world model used for pistol spawns, even though the first pistol the player character will pick up is a P; the P worldmodel appears when the player switches their sidearm and drops their pistols. It has more recoil and a slower rate of fire than the other pistols, and cannot be dual-wielded, but it has much more stopping power and greater accuracy. The pistol holds 8 rounds like the. This weapon usually kills common infected with a single shot. Interestingly, its flashlight is attached via a rifle scope ring mount and an aftermarket underbarrel rail. The "Pump Shotgun" returns from the first game with a new but similar model. It has a ventilated rib and ghost ring sights. It has a tighter spread than the "Pump Shotgun", but deals slightly less damage. The Benelli M4 shotgun returns from the first game, again as a Second Tier shotgun. Despite being modeled with a civilian 4-shot magazine tube, it has a round capacity in-game; this capacity in reality would require an aftermarket magazine tube extension, which would've extended the magazine tube beyond the shotgun's barrel. A flashlight is clipped on the weapon's magazine tube, right in front of the handguard. Compared to the Benelli M4, it has a tighter shot spread and does more damage per shot, but to compensate, it shoots less pellets per shell. It is fitted with the famous Mitchell Werbell suppressor, a strap on the barrel to serve as a makeshift foregrip like in Counter-Strike: Source , and a flashlight attached to the suppressor with zip ties. Based on the fact that it does more damage and has more recoil than the Uzi, it's likely chambered in. The MAC holds an incorrect 50 rounds in a round magazine. The Uzi returns from the first game, featuring the exact same model and attributes of being a tier 1 weapon, having a 50 round capacity despite having a round magazine model, and having a flashlight taped on its handguard. The M16A2 from the first game appears in Left 4 Dead 2. It has the highest rate of fire out of all the assault rifles, and it still has an unrealistic magazine capacity of 50 rounds despite being modeled with round STANAG magazines. It features a round capacity despite being modeled with standard round AK magazines, and also has the lowest rate of fire of the assault rifles, but makes up for that with a higher damage. The in-game model has the wider front sight of an AK Like the MAC, it has a flashlight secured via zip ties to the weapon's handguard. It has a very high accuracy and deals more damage than the M The Ruger Mini returns from the first game. Like in the first game, it is the most accurate weapon in the game, and has a capacity of 15 rounds despite being modeled with a 10 round magazine. It also has an AK muzzle brake. Its magazine holds 30 rounds even though it's modeled with a 20 round magazine. The Browning M2 heavy machine gun appears as the standard mounted machine gun of Left 4 Dead 2. The time needed to spool up the barrels and start firing seems to be slightly decreased. The M60 machine gun was added to Left 4 Dead 2 post-release. The M60 carries rounds of ammo and cannot be reloaded or resupplied; once the rounds are used up, the gun is immediately dropped much like with the Grenade Launcher. An Achievement called "Till it Goes Click" a reference to The Big Lebowski requires the player to mow down 25 infected with the M60 without letting go of the trigger. The M79 grenade launcher acts appears as a special primary weapon with an uncommon spawn rate. It deals high explosive damage but is single shot, requiring a reload after every shot, and its explosions can easily damage other survivors. The M79 comes with 30 grenades plus one already in the weapon, and cannot be resupplied; once all ammo are used up, the M79 is dropped and the survivor is left with just their secondary weapon. The M79 can kill a Tank in only hits on Normal difficulty. It can also use incendiary and fragmentation rounds if incendiary or fragmentation ammo boxes are used. For some bizarre reason, the M79 can also use a laser sight, even though it grants it with almost no benefit. Because of the strict censorship in Germany and also in Australia and elsewhere in the world , Valve decided to add 4 Counter-Strike: Source weapons to those versions of the game as compensation. Players were able to use them in non-censored versions of the game if they play with someone with the German version or in custom campaigns set to spawn them, before they were officially added to all versions of the game with the Last Stand update in Aside from the addition of the shove animation which are extremely generic , all of the animations for the international weapons are identical to their animations in Counter-Strike: Source. It has a lower rate of fire than the normal SMGs in the game, but it has a slightly higher accuracy than Uzi while its damage per shot is almost the same as the MAC while keeping the Uzi's damage-per-second stat. Like all SMGs in the game, it has a round capacity, incorrect for this weapon instead of the real The Steyr Scout with an extended magazine adapter is one of the four international weapons in L4D2. It has a lower rate of fire than other sniper rifles in game, but good accuracy. Erroneously holds 15 rounds instead of It has the slowest rate of fire excluding the Grenade Launcher in the game but inflicts a high amount of damage per shot. Incorrectly holds 20 rounds instead of 5. It has a 2x scope and two rates of fire, determined by whether the scope is in use. Without looking down the scope, it has the highest automatic rate of fire out of all assault rifles. Incorrectly holds 50 rounds instead of The AKM appears in several concept arts and in-game campaign posters. The Mk. Jump to: navigation , search. Namespaces Page Discussion. Today’s Movie: Pride of the Marines
Year of Release: 1945
Stars: John Garfield, Eleanor Parker, Dane Clark
Director: Delmer Daves
This movie is not on my list of essential films.
NOTE: This installment of Sports Analogies Hidden In Classic Movies is being done as part of something called the The Eleanor Parker Blog-A-Thon being hosted by Maddy Loves Her Classic Films. Through the great topics she always selects, she has been exposed to so much of my nonsense she must be close to developing complete immunity to it 🙂
You can see all the contributors to this blog-a-thon here:
Days One and Two
The Story:
youtube
“Pride of the Marines” is a classic three-act film which is in a solid class of movies released near the end of the Second World War and in it’s aftermath addressing the struggles of servicemen returning from combat to civilian life.
The first act is set in the days prior to the war. The central character is a Philadelphia steel worker with a decided swagger named Al Schmid (played by John Garfield). Ai is determined to avoid marriage at all costs; he would rather be the essential “playing the field” bachelor. That all changes when he crosses paths with a head-strong stunner named Ruth Hartley (played by Eleanor Parker).
Ruth’s “no non-sense” approach to life quickly breaks down Al’s disdain for marriage. They go on a hunting trip together during which it’s pretty obvious the seeds of love are being sown.
Then comes December 7th, 1941. In the wake of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, like millions of other Americans Al enlists in the military. At the train station just as he is about to depart to join the Marine Corps, Al asks Ruth to marry him.
The plot then moves to the Battle of the Tenaru River on the Pacific island of Guadalcanal on August 21, 1942. Al is part of a Browning machine gun crew in “H” Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st First Marines along with Lee Diamond (played by Dane Clark) and Johnny Rivers (played by Anthony Caruso).
In what proves to be a brutal battle, Lee, Johnny, and Al kill over 200 enemy soldiers, but then face an onslaught all their own during which Johnny is killed by a gunshot to the head, Lee suffers an injury to his arm, and Al is rendered blind by a grenade explosion.
The plot jumps ahead again, this time to Al’s rehabilitation, which to say the least humbles the once cock-sure steel worker turned U.S. Marine. Al struggles with his new-found dependence upon others. Originally, there is hope that his sight can be restored with surgery, but the attempt proves to be unsuccessful. To conceal his blindness from Ruth, he breaks off their engagement.
However, during Al’s time in the hospital, he is reunited with Lee. Along with hospital rehabilitation officer Virginia Pfeiffer (played by Rosemary DeCamp), they take on the difficult task aiding Al’s recovery.
In the meantime, Al discovers two things. First, he is going to be awarded the Navy Cross. He also learns he is going to be permanently transferred to the Philadelphia Naval Hospital…which puts him right back in his hometown, where he will no longer be able to avoid Ruth.
Once he finds out that his award ceremony will also take place in Philadelphia, Al becomes both angry and afraid he will be confronted by Ruth…and he’s not wrong. What Al is really afraid is being pitied by Ruth; that’s a blow he can’t take coupled with his loss of independence. Instead, Al tries to convince himself he will regain his sight and until will not depend on others.
As al fears, Ruth re-enters the picture. She goes to the hospital to enlist Lee’s assistance in a plot to get Al to come back home before he moves to his new hospital in Philadelphia. As such, Lee tells Al there’s a Navy car with a WAVE (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service — a division of the U.S. Naval Reserve) driver waiting for him. But instead of taking him to the Philadelphia Naval Hospital, the driver takes Al home where Ruth and his family are waiting.
With no ability to escape, Al has no choice but to listen to Ruth and how she wants to be with him regardless of what has happened. The movie ends with Al telling Ruth he may never see again, to which she responds “Whichever way it is, we’ll do it together.”
The Hidden Sports Analogy:
Today’s analogy isn’t so much about a particular injury; it’s all about returning to life as one knew it before being wounded in combat. In the sports world, there’s no better example of that than Rocky Bleier.
The Robert Patrick “Rocky” Bleier story begins right about the time “Pride of the Marines” ends when he is born in 1946 in Appleton, Wisconsin. The story really begins in earnest at Xavier High School, where Bleier established himself as a star in three sports being a team captain in football, basketball, and track. But it would be the gridiron game which would pave the way for Bleier’s next steps. On the football field, Bleier was a three-time all-state selection as a running back. and won all-conference honors on the other side of the ball at both linebacker and defensive back.
Upon graduating from Xavier in 1964, Bleier went on to play college football for Notre Dame. During his junior season in 1966, the Fighting Irish won the national championship. Bleier was named a team captain as a senior in 1967, and graduated the following spring with a degree in business management.
Rocky Bleier running the rock for the Fighting Irish.
1968 turns out to have more than one reason to be a transformative time in the life of Rocky Bleier. Not only did he become a college graduate, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 16th round of the 1968 NFL/AFL Draft, the 417th overall player selected. However, the Steelers weren’t the only organization wanting Bleier. On December 4th, 1968, Bleier was drafted into the U.S. Army.
Now SPC4 Bleier, he was trained as squad grenadier operating a 40mm M79 grenade launcher. He volunteered for duty in South Vietnam and was assigned to the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. Arriving in Vietnam in May 1969 assumed the duties of a typical soldier.
While on patrol in the Hiep Duc Valley on August 20, 1969, Bleier’s platoon was ambushed. Forced to take cover in a rice paddy, Bleier was shot in the in the left thigh, and while he was down, a grenade sent shrapnel into his lower right leg and blew off part of his right foot.
Doctors told Bleier he would never play football again. But not long after that. he received a postcard from Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney which read “Rock – the team’s not doing well. We need you. Art Rooney.” Bleier later credited that postcard as being an inspiration to return to football. After many surgeries, Bleier was discharged from the Army in July 1970, at which time he returned to Pittsburgh and began having informal workout sessions with several Steeler teammates.
Fresh out of the Army in 1970, Bleier couldn’t even walk without pain and had dropped from his playing weight of 210 pounds down to 180. The Steelers placed him on injured reserve for the 1970 season, which meant he could stay on the team’s roster, but could not play in any games.
He found his way on to the the field in the 1971 season, albeit his duties were limited to the kick coverage team. After this, Bleier spent three more seasons trying to get more playing time with no success. In fact, he was released by the Steelers twice. But he never quit, and by 1974 his intense training regimen got him back up to 212 pounds. This would also be the year Bleier finally earned as spot as the team’s starting fullback.
In no time, the man missing part of his right foot became one of the best fullbacks in the National Football League. First and foremost, he may very well have been the best lead blocker coming out of the backfield in the game. He was also a gifted pass receiver, and he certainly could carry the ball for those hard yards between the tackles. In fact, he and primary running back Franco Harris both rushed for over 1,000 yards in 1976, which made them only the second backfield duo to do so along with Mercury Morris and Larry Csonka of the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
You can’t tell the story of the Pittsburgh Steelers without telling the story of Rocky Bleier. He was a key cog in the Steeler machine which defined dominant as it churned out four Super Bowl victories in six seasons in the 1970s. Bleier’s brightest moments likely came in Super Bowl XIII when he caught a touchdown pass from Terry Bradshaw that gave Pittsburgh a lead it would never surrender and recovered the Dallas Cowboys’ on-side kick attempt in the closing seconds which sealed the Steelers’ victory.
youtube
Rocky Bleier retired from football after the 1980 season. All tolled, Bleier ended with 3,865 rushing yards, 136 receptions for 1,294 yards, and 25 touchdowns. At the time he retired, Bleier ranked as the Steelers’ fourth all-time leading rusher. But what can’t be measured in the numbers is how many of Hall-of-Famer Franco Harris’ 12,120 rushing yards or 91 career touchdowns had their trail blazed by Bleier.
The Moral of the Story:
The root word in “disability” is “ability.”

Army on alert vs. rebels amid Covid-19 threat
#PHnews: Army on alert vs. rebels amid Covid-19 threat
ILOILO CITY – The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) will continue to provide security to people against rebel attacks while maintaining the Panay Island free from Covid-19 infection, an official said on Tuesday.
This as the 61st Infantry Batallion (61IB) clashed with suspected members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) in Sitio Agtaraw, Barangay Binolosan Pequeño, Calinog, Iloilo on Monday.
“We assure the public that we have enough forces dealing with two situations. We cannot leave behind our primary duty which is really to preserve the peace and order situation,” Capt. Cenon Pancito III, 3ID’s spokesperson, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).
Pancito said the Army’s 61st IB has ample soldiers to guard the borders as the provinces in Panay implement respective community quarantine until March 31.
The need for the augmentation on border deployment is per need basis considered by the local government, he said.
“We have enough forces. We have reserved force and it is not depleted for the use of those in the borders, at the checkpoints,” Pancito said.
The CPP-NPA “had been deceptive from the very start” and has got the wrong appreciation of the work of the Army as the Monday’s encounter proved that they saw a chance to attack, he said.
“We have to send our forces out there to hunt them that’s why we saw them in this very particular incident. They moved, and maybe one of the reasons is (they thought) we were busy and we are becoming complacent on our efforts in the mountains, but that is not the case,” he said.
Placed on red alert status on Saturday, Pancito said they have also received a directive from the higher headquarters to make its facilities available for Covid-19 concerns.
Assets like vehicles and camp premises are available for the transport of medical needs, among others.
“It will be a matter of how we organize our assets in such a manner that we can provide for both sides,” he said.
The Monday’s encounter in Calinog town led to the recovery of three rifle grenades, a homemade M79 with seven ammunition, two backpacks, two hammocks, medical paraphernalia, assorted canned goods and subversive documents with high intelligence value.
The firefight lasted for about 10 minutes before the terrorist group scampered in different directions.
There was no casualty recorded on the government side. (PNA)

Have a Picnic at Hanging Rock
Have a Picnic at Hanging Rock
An hour’s drive north-west of Melbourne (on the M79 road) is Hanging Rock; a picturesque and intriguing nature reserve, made famous by the novel, Picnic at Hanging Rock, written by Joan Lindsay. The novel is about a group of private school girls who go missing at Hanging Rock, whilst they’re unsurprisingly, having a picnic. For years there was uncertainty if the story was historically accurate or…
