It’s almost perfect, the way he fits in with the décor of her home. A tattooed metalhead carefully tucked into a goth girl’s wet dream of an apartment. Looking like an intentional part of her interior decorating - right at fucking home on her coffin shaped couch, with false taxidermy bats on the wall behind him. Downright picture-worthy with his rings and his dark eyes, the tattoos peaking out from beneath his disheveled shirt. And the best part of it all? His cheeks, pink and red, the only color against all the blacks and whites of her apartment - flushed from the alcohol, but probably also the realization that his Boss had taken him home - and she had a goddamn stripper pole in the center of her living room.

She probably should have warned him - but it’s cute and a little funny to see him stare. Funnier still to see his eyes land on it and then widen, to see all the little thoughts bouncing around in his brain curl up and die and leave just one singular thought in their place: Fuck.

Molly should give him some mercy, he’s drunk, and they’d been partying together - but she’s drunk too, and at some point in the night he’d accidentally touched her ass and well -

Fuck it. When in Rome or something... 

The bottle cap to the vodka bottle in her hand goes somewhere, she doesn’t care where, as she flicks it off. And that’s enough to gather his attention - well the noise, and the sudden weight of her in his lap. Her smile bright red but toxic - like those Amazonian frogs. A warning that he would never heed. “Eddie,” She starts, settling herself neatly. Straddling not his lap, but only one of his thighs. The very full bottle resting on her knee. “I will boo in your ear if you fuck this up.” And it’s famous last words - or something like that. Her head tilting back as she raises the bottle to her lips and takes a gulp of the alcohol, but doesn’t swallow. Just tilts her head down to look at his face and leans in to give him a kiss. Forcing him to either open his mouth and take the present of shared drink - or dribble it everywhere instead.

Believe it or not, I did in fact go to see Spies Are Forever (you'd never know from looking at my blog), and, as usual, I wrote down some notes. My memory is shit so I'll probably update this with additions when I remember more, but for now, below the cut...

Act 1:

. They played Show Stoppin' Number and so many people were singing along

. It started midway through them playing The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals

. Joey: “Sorry to anyone who thought they were seeing Wizard Of Oz. Although, this show has many friends of Dorothy”

. Emily Proudlock has a beautiful voice. The microphone was struggling a little at the start, though lmao

. THEY GOT AN ACTUAL BANANA PEEL

. Oliver Ormson (Owen) called Curt “Mega” which in the show he doesn't do until he becomes the DMA (not a criticism, just interesting)

. Owen said the “A man needs his privacy”(?) line, so Owen and Barb have officially interacted now

. I love Brian's Informant. His French accent was so over the top

. Brian stared at Clark when he said “The Deadliest Man Alive” until Clark played the keyboard sting. And then whenever anyone else said it throughout the show, he played it.

. They left in a huge awkward silence when the DMA was waiting for Sergio and it was so funny

. Sergio sounded so awkward when he said “You guys can relate, right?”

. Joey fucking SCREAMED “PLEASE!” during Sergio's little Somebody's Gotta Do It reprise

. “The Deadliest Man Alive disarms Mega and escapes”

. Dean John Wilson walked back on stage after his exit, said “The Deadliest Man” and left again

. Curt cocked his head at Hallucination!Owen and Owen shrugged and mouthed “I don't know” at him

Act 2:

. I WAS ON THE SAME ROW AS A.J. FUCKING HOLMES AND DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL JOEY SHOUTED HIM OUT

. Joey shouted out loads of cosplayers still in character as Vanger Borschtit

. Everyone was so excited about Vanger Borschtit, and Joey made everyone cheer for an acceptable amount of time “for his reel”

. The new We Love the Prince lyrics really are so much better (also what did he do to the Pope?!?!?)

. Vanger Borschtit was DISTRAUGHT when the prince died

. Obioma stared so blankly into the audience at “Or whatever it is you boys do in the rumpus room”

. I think out of all of the new cast members, Evelyn Hoskins (Tatiana) sounded the most like the original actor (she was also so cool)

. Obioma actually sung the little “Very good place to start” Sound Of Music reference and Tatiana looked so annoyed

. Tatiana was SO into Doing This up until the kiss (which wasn't a real kiss lmao)

. Jak Malone (Von Nazi) made his death SO DRAMATIC. He fell to the ground and went “Ow, my back! Ow, my front! Ow, my…self” and then got up and bowed

. Owen stood behind the DMA and they just spun around while Joey narrated

. They changed the line “Taking your advice” to “Moving on”, just like Curt (I think it was Curt? Edit: IT WAS JOEY) wanted in the livestream

. The speech before Spy Again (Reprise) was so good. Everyone came out on stage and it was all just incredible

The sun was setting in the camp and crickets began to emerge. A couple of folks from the gang, including you, were just returning to the camp after a botched robbery.

You sat on your horse, shoulders hunched and eyes trained forward. Tears had been threatening to fall ever since your slip-up, and you’d tried your best to conceal the overwhelming embarrassment you felt.

Everyone dismounted with less chatter than usual, hitching their horses and going to tents or campfires to chat. You quickly followed, stepping off of your horse clumsily, tying him to a hitching post and speed-walking through the camp. 

Marybeth and Tilly were sitting together behind a cart on top of a few blankets, chatting about a book as they stitched up a few articles of clothing. The former looked up, noticing your hastiness to return to your tent, and furrowed her brows. Tilly followed, pausing in her sewing.

“You look tense there, Y/N, are you alright?” Tilly asked, looking at you with a sisterly kind of concern.

You really were not in the mood for talking. If anything, you’d rather not see anyone for the next week. Something in your chest nagged at you, screamed to snap at her or ignore her altogether; but Tilly didn’t deserve that, and neither did Marybeth. They only wanted for you and the other members of the gang to not have to carry more of a burden than you all already do.

“Yeah, ‘m just tired.” You muttered, voice threatening to break as your throat constricted painfully. 

The two older girls gave each other a worried look. “If you say so. But if you need to talk about anythin’, we’ll just be around camp!” Marybeth said, not pushing when you didn’t want her to.

You hardly got out an ‘okay’ before walking the rest of the way to your tent. 

Drawing the flaps of it closed behind you, you made sure they were shut securely and that no one could see in or out. Then, your steely expression crumpled and your bottom lip wobbled, hands covering your face, and you sunk to the ground.

You cried silently, but no less intensely. Shuffling over to your bedroll, you lay with your head on the pillow, tears trailing down your face and onto the rough, old fabric beneath you. 

Your head was swirling, too many thoughts occurring at once, but they all held the same meaning.

“Why can’t I do anything right?” You questioned yourself quietly, voice breaking and wobbling. Taking a shuddering breath in, you continued your quiet sobbing. It seems everything you do, every step you take, was a mistake by nature these days.

It took a few minutes, but you eventually swallowed your tears and sat up, head in your hands. Guilt, embarrassment, and most of all shame came over you like a tidal wave, catching you in its current and dragging you down.

“Hello?” 

You heard an older man’s voice - Hosea’s - from outside the tent. You didn’t reply, wallowing in your sadness. You didn’t want to speak to anyone, to have any kind of interaction. Just like with Tilly and Marybeth, you wanted to shout, scream, yell at anyone to go away, stop caring, and leave you alone.

But at the same time, you wanted more than anything for someone to ask how you are. For them to listen to you pour your heart out and confess the deepest, darkest things you tell yourself at the most minor of mistakes. And yet, do you want to feel better about this? It would be nice to talk, yes, but you don’t want a solution, or for the sadness to go away.

You hear distant chatter followed by a sigh from beyond the drawn flaps of the canvas tent before they were slowly opened. Your heart skipped a beat, and you immediately rubbed at your eyes harshly to get rid of any signs that you had been crying.

Hosea crouched down, his knees cracking audibly as he shuffled closer.

“Oh, Y/N…” He frowned, head tilted with an expression you couldn’t quite place; but for some reason, it made tears prick at your eyes again, ones that you wasted no time in aggressively wiping away.

He closed the tent’s flaps loosely, sitting down on the ground by the bedroll you were atop. You sniffled, looking at the thin sheets beneath you.

“What got you so down, huh?” Hosea questioned. 

You inhaled in pathetically, your breaths shuddering. 

“Was it the robbery?” You nodded.

He put a hand on your shoulder, lowering his head to your level. He was always good at this sort of thing. The reason why, you didn’t know. “I know it didn’t go how we wanted, but worse things have happened, kid.”

“But I messed it up. I made a stupid mistake, and now the… the law…”

“The law?” He laughed, though it was more of a wheeze. “Yeah, things may have gone sideways, but we would never bring you on a robbery with a risk of the Pinkertons findin’ us. Maybe next time we’d prepare you more, but I think I’d rather have a sloppy mission than a dead member.”

You looked at him, eyes teary with a deep frown.

He noticed your expression, nodding with a sigh. “Alright, alright. Look, these things happen. You haven’t gone on many missions, no one but…” his voice lowered a little, “Well, no one but bastards like Micah would blame you; and I don’t think you should listen to him. Besides, you think we haven’t messed up missions bigger than this?”

You shrugged, hands on your arms and crossed over your chest.

He seemed to be in thought, though you couldn’t see his expression to tell whether he was or not. “...You wanna hear a story?” Hosea asked out of the blue. You glanced at him, an eyebrow raised, and nodded.

“When Arthur was about your age, we were doing a train robbery. Now, he’d done them in the past, but this time, it was him who would do all the yelling. He was standing at the front of a train cart, looking all mighty, but I could tell he was probably shitting his pants right there; you could see it on his face! Anyway, people were scared, and he took a few seconds, but he started walking down the aisle, demanding valuables, but he forgot something. He let a man run out of the cart and alerted a couple of officers who were on the train since it was carrying rich folks. Before he could make it halfway down the damn cart, we were surrounded by lawmen; John never let him hear the end of it when we got back!” He wheezed again, grinning. You were inclined to crack a little smile, the story bringing up your spirits a bit.

“See? You aren’t so bad. So don’t be stupid and let this get you down, kid, because it doesn’t do anyone any good.” He pulled you into a side hug, rubbing your arm. “I’ve lived a long time, and if there’s one thing I can tell you, it’s to not dwell on these things. Stuff will happen, that’s just how life is; but if you keep comin’ back to it, you’ll never be happy. So forget it, because it isn’t worth your energy.”

You rested your head on his shoulder, sighing without a shudder or a hitch of your breath in a while. “It’ll be okay,” Hosea reassured, patting your shoulder consolingly and letting you sit there for a little.

Your mind was still plagued with bad thoughts, but it seemed a little easier to ignore them when given the pep talk you’d just received from Hosea. He always managed to say the right things, and you were damn grateful for it; even when you didn’t necessarily want it. It still helped.

Besides, the feelings of disdain towards a happier mindset melted away throughout his talk, and you found yourself feeling better. Still a bit upset, but better than a few minutes prior. It was a start.

He patted your shoulder, urging you to get up as he did. “Now, let’s get you some food, huh?”

Do you have any hcs abt how Curt and Owen "came out" to one another? (Using the term loosely cuz obviously they can't just be like "IM GAY") And also how they got together (who fell first etc etc)

Ok, so to preface this, my favourite thing about curtwen is just how many ways you can interpret their pre-canon relationship.

I try to keep their story relatively loose in my head, save for a few headcanons I very strongly believe in, because it's more fun this way.

For me, the #1 headcanon that's in all the iterations I think of, is that they hated each other at first. I think their personalities clash way too much for them to be all buddy-buddy on the first day. (Physical attraction? maybe. Was it minuscule compared to their irritation with each other? yes.)

I just think it's interesting how the two of them gradually (and begrudgingly) start to care about each other.

I think their "friendship stage" is one of my favourite parts about the whole thing. Now I refuse to believe either of those men have friends. Maybe coworkers and acquaintances, but not friends. Which is why this stage lasts so little.

As their work their way up to care for and respect each other, both of them go a little crazy about it.

It's the first time in years or even decades they felt genuine affection and maybe even trust, and both of them are extremely starved for it. So it really doesn't take much for them to fall for each other. (especially since the aforementioned physical attraction was always there and only getting stronger as they learned to tolerate each other)

I imagine, because of this, Owen was the one who fell first, and he employed his usual tactic for dealing with unwanted feelings: Being an ass and depriving himself of good things. He got more intense about his work, trying to immerse himself in it, so he'll stop thinking about Curt. He stayed up late, didn't even try to take it easy when he had a migraine, drank shit coffee and other great things.

It technically worked. He looked like shit, which in turn made Curt worried, and if Owen completely invalidated his worries the two of them would get into a fight, be mad at each other and not interact so much. Owen thought this would make him not yearn for Curt so bad (he still did, in fact, yearn for him that bad)

When Curt realized he was in love with Owen he was pretty horrified. Like listen. If someone has commitment issues it's Curt. Maybe he had a boyfriend or two during his teenage years/twenties, but they didn't end well, and since then he's been trying to keep everybody at arms length. He convinced himself Owen wasn't so bad because hey. They were just buddies (and Curt desperately needed a buddy.)

He tried to shove down and ignore his feelings, but moaning your friend's name while banging another guy may just be a little more than what you can avoid.

He never understood why Owen turned so cold suddenly, and he was terrified Owen just didn't like or trust him anymore. In turn he was also mad at him for trying to shut him out.

Their little hate renaissance could only last so long though. They were still each other's only friends and no matter what they did they kept being drawn back to each other.

This was a super long preface but. I am not normal about those two.

So. different scenarios and headcanons and whatnot

1. Either one of them somehow discovers the other is gay. This would probably mean Owen finding out about Curt, because, I wholeheartedly believe that man would leave during a mission sometimes just to get a quick fuck in. Maybe Owen finds out with evidence (fast & easy method) or he just starts strongly suspecting with his great spying and deduction skills (slow & torturous method, he'd try to convince himself he's just seeing what he wants to see) either way, the confrontation would be very uncomfortable for both of them. Curt would deny it ofc, and Owen would go through the internal battle of "tell him it's fine, you won't rat him out, but be a little homophobic about it, so maybe you can keep the only friend you have, but also be ok with the fact that he'll always be with other men and never you" or "tell him you're gay too, maybe he likes you, maybe not, and potentially risk losing your job and livelihood and everything you've ever worked for" He'd most likely end up doing the latter, surprising both Curt and himself. (He's already way more into Curt than he admits to himself) And things escalate from there.

2. Dramatic post mission (maybe a "I thought I'd never see you again" moment) This is where their friendship gets really interesting to me. For a scenario like this the months long yearning is a given, maybe even a lot of unresolved tension between the two (which would probably be resolved with violence anyways) They care very deeply about each other by now. They know each other better than anyone, and their idyllic relationship is only made into a living hell by all the pining. At this point I mean, they'd buy each other birthday gifts, go over to the other's house when they were in the same country and share way too much info over drinks. Their job is always dangerous, but even they can get scared. Maybe we're talking being crazy outnumbered, or a torture/hostage situations, or hell even a collapsing building. Point is, id either one of them thought the other (or both of them) may die, at this point they'd be impulsive enough to just say I love you or kiss the other. In the moment neither of them would care, and later on, when you'd normally talk about things like near death makeout sessions, they'd just. not. do that, because communication is for guys with better life prospects. This one has absolutely no coming-out talk in it, simply because they don't need it

3. Possibly drunk hookup Now clearly, we are talking about two of the most down bad men ever. This is one scenario, I think could also work really well when they still really hated each other. Maybe throughout their first few mission they both gathered enough evidence and sussed each other out, and after (yet another) explosive fight they might just. Alleviate the tension by not beating each other up but by. other means. They don't end up talking much about it, but it keeps happening, and wait maybe they don't even hate each other all that much. (This is the more sober option) The other one is where the "possibly drunk" comes in. If they've been friends for a while, they probably got used to working around each other and finding comfort in the other's presence. This includes little habits, inside jokes, and even (very small) physical touches. This probably wouldn't go down during a mission, it's more likely to happen at either Curt's or Owen's house, maybe during some holiday. Both of them realizing it's a pretty bad idea early on, because, without all the stress of the missions and navigating a foreign country all that's left is them and the feelings they have for each other. Owen would probably say no to drinks for the first few times, just to avoid a potentially dangerous situation, but Curt would wear him down eventually. Now, with both of them drunk and comfortable, it wouldn't take much for things to escalate. Maybe Curt forgets to take his hand off of Owen after patting him on the back, or Owen holds Curt gaze for a little too long. Either way, those two end up fucking. The next day both of them are a little horrified, but they manage to come clean about their feelings (even if it's in the most backwards and convoluted way possible)

Happy ending (or not) There's many more ways it could've happened, but I already wrote wayyyy too much I think.

In the end I don't think they'd ever have a proper conversation about homosexuality, even way into their relationship. It's something they slowly pick up on from each other. How ashamed are they, what makes them tick, what you shouldn't say etc. And then of course, since they don't communicate properly and sometimes purposefully hurt each other, they'd throw it all back in the other's face.

Part 6: Conclusion

Since we're only a few days away from the last episode, I decided to COUNT DOWN everything we´ve got so far ( that can be interpreted very easily as romantic ) and discuss what the actual fuck is going on with second season. Because even though I shipped lokius practically from S1E2, I absolutely did NOT expect this kind of development. (Not that I´m complaining)

So... let´s scrap the theory, that romantic tention is created only by chemistry between actors (though it IS amazing and also key ingredient) and their acting choices. Because so far, screenplay, and cinematography was supporting their story as well. I feel, like I should clarify, that I do not expect Lokius kiss, or blatant confirmation to happen. I was here during Johnlock debacle. And I was here, when Destiel ended... the way it ended. And I refuse to put in creators (especially when it comes to marvel/disney) any hope, that I know can be crushed so very easily. I´m not doing this shit again. If it happens? WOW! I´m gonna be surprised. very pleasantly surprised. I will litteraly never shut up about it

But I do not expect it. Not even now, when I saw, what are creators of Loki able to put out in the world. Like this for example:

And yeah, I am avare, Loki officialy CAN have male love interest, because it was confirmed in a text, that he´s a bi.

Also there was this (very misleading) article few years ago:

Still. I can´t bring myself to hope for anything explicit. But I absolutely understand anyone, who have that hope. And I know, how great feeling it is, while it lasts. Anyway. I´m gonna look at all possible options, I can think of. Even some, I feel, are more possible then others. And maybe answer is not just one. It could be more things at once.

Explanation number one: Creators took notes on how season 1 was received. And they saw, that Mobius is very popular, well-liked character, his interactions with Loki were favorite moments according to majority of an audience, and decided to lean more into that, for viewer´s sake.

Same with sylvie. Once they saw her romantic relationship with Loki isn´t that popular, they decided to give her her own agency, own story instead.

Explanation number two: They genuinely think, they are showing deep friendship between two bros and nothing more. I mean... Loki getting close circle of friends and wanting to stay with them is a one of the bigest themes this season. They are trying to make a point about Loki changing bacause of them (and probably making sacrifice for them) But there is still very intentional difference between his relationship with Mobius and everybody else. Mobius is obviously the most important one of the bunch.

Explanation number three:

Creators want romantic scene with Sylvie and Loki to be big surprise at the end, so they tried to show as much problems and conflicts between them, as they could and limited their screentime together.

But I personaly think, this would be stupid for many reasons:

Making Mobius and Loki focus this season caused people to rooth for them, and be invested in their relationship more.

They showed multiple times, that Sylvie wants from life very different things, then Loki and their philosophical views differ greatly.

It doesn´t look like creators put enough effort into building up this kind of ending to be satisfying. It would just feel like they´re trying to surprise / shock audience. Explanation number four: They think that what they are doing with Mobius and Loki is father/son dynamic. (I´m sorry, but this would be just hilarious. If this is the case, I would love to know, what they were thinking, when they decided to leave Owen´s line: "You´re just a little pussycat" in there. Or when they look at all those acting choices and said YES, THANK YOU. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED.)

Explanation number five: They´re queerbaiting the hell out of us. And their master plan is to make us all watch and having hope and then they will throw in the finale some last minute no homo explanation and wil laugh in our faces.

(I suppose I don't have to say how much I like this option *sarcasm*)

Explanation number six:

Creators would like to make Lokius canon, but they are restricted / they´re not allowed to. So they decided to go as far, as they can. To give us little (big) nods, to give us those beutiful scenes. To double down on everything lokius related. And they know what they can get away with before casual viewers notice that there is something gay happening. (I mean... it looks like they can get away with anything but kiss at this point :D Like seriously. I saw people talking about how beautiful Dean and Castiel´s friendship was EVEN after finale, so...)

Explanation number seven:

They are doing Love triangle thing, where they will try ultimitely "please everyone" by giving us some scene that could be potentialy seen as romantic between Loki and Sylvie AND between Loki and Mobius (while leaving it for interpretation) In Czech republic, we call it: "when the wolf ate well, but goat is still alive."

Explanation number eight: They ARE able to make Lokius canon, but they actually like podtext more, then posibility to make it transparent, and that is just the way, they want to tell this story.

Explanation number nine: They were planning to make Lokius a thing (if not from the start, then after season one) and they made whole season this way, so more people would rooth for them. And it will end with some form of confirmation of their love story. ( as I mentioned above, I can´t see this happening, but that is my bad experience talking. If it happens, I deffinitely won´t be mad about being wrong here, I can promise you that :D )

I gues we will know more about their intent after episode 6. Right now, I´m actually just hoping, that story will stay consistent as much as it can. And characters won´t die. On the contrary I hope, they will end up happy, because they did earn it. I have to say, that I enjoyed this season even more then the first. And I really do hope, that finale wont make me change my mind. Regardles of intention, this show is high quality and it is obvious how much care was poured into every aspect of this season from effects, cinematography, costums, sets, music, acting... I think, that this show is a best thing marvel did in a long, LONG time.

Also please, pleaseeee let this season end at the place, where it will be possible to see Loki and Mobius in other MCU project (I would honestly watch anything, where they appear together)

And lastly: If it doesn´t end the way you wanted, please please don´t let anger to rule your actions. Do criticize as much as you want, but please don´t harrass anybody. At the end of the day, creators of this show are also just people. Don´t say anything, you wouldn´t say into their faces. If it will end badly, watch your favourite, comfort gay show, celebrate how much Lokius fix-it fanfiction we´ll have! And how much art already exists because of those first five episodes.

Or take that frustration and turn it to motivation: maybe you can create something better!

He loves taking you on drives, especially if it's an evening or late night drive!!! I think he'd love taking you stargazing, finds it hilarious how excited you get at how much he knows!!!

B - baby talk [Do they like to talk in a baby voice when interacting?]

I don't really see him doing baby talk, he's big on nicknames and he can get real silly/creative on those but as a whole I'd say he speaks to you like a mini adult. Very informative but gentle, making sure you understand everything big or informative, you're told in a way you understand but without it coming across as condescending at all!!!

C - cuddling [Do they like to cuddle with their regressor?]

This man would literally never let go of you if he could. He would wrap you up in his arms and just keep you in his arms!!! 🥺 As long as you're comfortable he would hold you at every occasion he can!!! Watching a movie? He's got you tucked into his arms. You're getting sleepy? He's wrapping his arms around your shoulder and keeping you close!!!

D - dress up [Will they play dress up? what would be their favorite outfit?]

Is it too cheesy if I say absolutely he'd play dress up with you and dressing up as cowboys is always fun-

He enjoys documentaries, he thinks the big, educational language is good to have on in the background for you to subconsciously take in, plus there's so many cool topics for you to learn about!!! If there's something you specifically wanna learn more about he'd absolutely take you on trips to the library and research with you!!!

Think when it comes to reading he'd like classic bedtime stories to read to you!!! For some reason I think he'd really like Peter Pan!!! <333

F - forgiveness [How forgiving are they when their regressor makes mistakes? How fast do they forgive?]

He forgives SO fast!!! You are his baby, and absolutely everyone makes mistakes, he knows he's made plenty, both as your caregiver and as a person in general so he's not one to hold it against you!!! I have zero doubts that after explaining to you why what you did was wrong/a mistake he'd give you a big hug.

G - gentle [How gentle are they with their regressor?]

Despite his reckless, almost 'careless' persona that is seen online he is actually so gentle with you!!! Careful touches on your back for guidance, absolutely never raises his voice at you!!! He would do anything for you to make you feel happy and safe!!!

H - hugs [Do they like to huggies?]

Like I said earlier, he loves cuddles and he will use any moment he physically can to provide that affection!!!

I - imaginary [How imaginative are they?]

He's so imaginative!!! He always comes up with wild and crazy ideas that no one else except maybe Boone would come up with!!!

J - jokes [Do they like to joke around?]

So, so, so silly!!! Always has the worsttt but best dad jokes!!! Plus he's just such a silly daddy!!! :p

K - kisses [Do they like to give (platonic) kissies? Where is their favorite spot to kiss?]

L - lullaby [Do they sing lullabies to their regressor? What is their favorite one?]

He would sing so many country songs!!! (I don't see him singing lullabies but he'd absolutely hum them!!!)

M - morning [How do they spend mornings with their regressor? (when regressed)

Unless there's a storm to chase mornings with Tyler would be quite calm and slow, he wants to savour the peace of the moment!!! Cuddles, quiet chatter, hell- breakfast in bed for the both of you if he can figure out how to do it!!!

N - night [How do they spend nights with their regressor? (when regressed)]

Normally kinda chaotic, still trying to wind down from the excitement of the day- everything is a bit everywhere as you guys are potentially staying at a motel so that needs to be sorted and any equipment that needs to be fixed gets fixed and sorting out dinner is chaos because all of the wranglers have different opinions on food!!! Bedtime is somehow relatively put together though!!! Back to lots of cuddles until you fall asleep!!! <333

O - overprotective [Are they more overprotective, underprotective, or somewhere in the middle?]

Overprotective!!! His job is dangerous and reckless, he and the tornado wranglers have a big following online and as much as he loves his fans that does not mean he trusts them, even down to other storm chasers. He's the type to not say anything but stand just a little behind you just watching everyone and everything carefully making sure you are okay!!! (Hands on hip as he looks around)

P - petnames [What are their favorite petnames to use for their regressor? (ex: darling, sweetheart, little one)]

He is a BIG fan of using nicknames/petnames!!! "my mini tornado wrangler", "kiddo", "darlin'", "sweetheart", "my girl/boy/sweet girl/sweet boy" but honestly he'll use whatever petname first comes to mind!!!

Q - quality time [How much time do they usually spend with their regressor? Do they live with them or visit?]

With you all the time!!! I think you'd live with him (even if that is often on the move in motels when chasing storms!!!) <3

R - regression [Do they age regress as well?]

I personally don't think he would regress.

S - snacks [What snacks do they feed their regressor?]

Sweets. Any form of sweets lol. He's not as big on chocolate because it normally gets everywhere- thank you Boone. I can see him using lollipops as a bribe before🙏🏻

T - tea party [Do they enjoy playing tea party? Will they play with the toys and/or stuffies as well?]

He would get so invested!!! Full conversations with your toys and stuffies- to the point if any of the wranglers try to interrupt he will tell them that he is in the middle of receiving important news (made up drama) and they can either stay and listen or leave 😂

U - understand [How well do they understand their regressors needs and emotions?]

He is so in tune with his regressors emotions!!! Can tell exactly when they are at their limit, and normally what you need!!! Sometimes he knows what you want/need better than even you do-

V - visit [What are some of their favorite places to visit with their regressor?]

He likes just driving to random open areas of like fields- would 1000% like stargazing, he'd sit or lie with you on the hood of his truck!!!

W - warmth [Do they provide physical warmth to their regressor, such as giving blankets or cuddling? Do they make their regressor feel warm and secure, mentally?]

Absolutely to all of it!!! A) Tyler is like a human heater, B) he has a very warm and comfy aura just being around him!!! He's always happy for a cuddle and will not let go until you do no matter what!!! <333

I think he probably could cook decently, or at least enough to keep you guys going however he is a sucker for take away- especially because you guys are on the move so often. He always burns food if he's baking however!!! For some reason he just can't seem to do it- 😂

Z - ZzZ [Do they take naps with their regressor? What are some sleep habits of theirs?]

I absolutely think he would take naps with you- but like, probably as bribery.

"What if I nap with you..?"

He gets up pretty early and his sleep is kind of all over the place, he'd try and keep a pretty solid sleep schedule for you though, even if that means you sleeping in his truck whilst he drives and keeps shushing Boone!!!

Nominating Tags for the MCYT M/F & Other Exchange!

Hello! Welcome to the MCYT Winter of M/F and Other Exchange: Tag Nominations phase!

Tag sets help us keep things consistent for the matching process. Ao3 is very specific, so having “BdoubleO100/ZombieCleo (3rd Life)” and “BDoubleO100/ZombieCleo (3rd Life SMP)” wouldn’t get matched! These guidelines are to help you nominate your favorite relationships and use them during the sign up process later.

A few things to keep in mind before we start:

You must join the Discord to participate in this event.

Tags must be written out in alphabetical order and using gamertags, with the exception of RPF nominations, which will use IRL names.

Tags must be disambiguated, writing the fandom at the end of each one (ex: “LDShadowLady/Smallishbeans (3rd Life)” vs “LDShadowLady/Smallishbeans (Empires S1)”

If you are nominating a genderbend, use a marker in front of the genderbent character’s name (ex: “f!Smajor1995/Solidarity” or “Smajor1995/nb!Solidarity”)

Okay, now let’s start with the Empires tags I want to nominate. Here’s why ignoring the blue instructions is important: as every player has very distinct characters in each season, we’re ignoring the canonical tags for Empires SMP.

Empires seasons will be nominated under two separate fandoms. Tags can be nominated under Empires SMP (Season 1) or Empires SMP (Season 2). Let’s start by nominating… Sausage/Gem. The first thing I do is write out the fandom, then the gamertags of both in alphabetical order, like so:

To disambiguate each nomination, use (Empires S1) or (Empires S2).

For Season 2, I want to nominate Jimmy/Gem. Same steps, easy peasy.

For the rest of our fandoms, we will be using the canonical fandom tag, but we are not using the canonical relationships tags. For example, for the Life series, I want to nominate Joel/Lizzie. The nomination will look like this:

We only use gamertags. Ignore their real life names, write only gamertags in alphabetical order, using a / since the relationship I want is romantic. 

All Life Series tags will be disambiguated using (3rd Life), regardless of season.

Now, a quick trip onto Crossovers! Say I love to think about how Big B from 3rd Life would interact with the Cleo we see on Hermitcraft, or how Eret from the Dream SMP would interact with Foolish from the QSMP. Well, that can be nominated easily! 

All Crossover Tags must go under Crossover Fandom. The gamertags are still written out alphabetically, but now we have to disambiguate each one! It’ll look something like this:

And oh, I've decided, actually, I watched Oli's Christmas Music Show and decided also want to nominate Joel/Lizzie Video Blogging RPF, because I think they're super cute and want to write about the concert aftermath. The nomination would look something like this:

Notice two things:

1: We are using their real life names (alongside their gamertags) in this tag. We only use names when nominating RPF. The rest of the time, we only use gamertags. The gamertag is still added for clarity.

2: The alphabetical order has changed. While previously the tag was LDShadowLady/Smallishbeans, J comes before L in the alphabet. For RPF tags, we order alphabetically according to the CC's irl names.

Reading List 2022

So there was lot that happened in the last year, but one of them was that I finally got a regular access to the library of the University I´m studying at. Though, the majority of the books on this list, still come from my own shelves, and were simply collecting dust for a long time.

I wanted to share with you guys, what took my attention a lot of the time, whenever I sat down to read something, apart from the copious amount of Fanfiction I read on the daily. Something, that is between me and AO3 only.

This list is supposed to be something between a casual review and recommendation. There are a few books on here, that I simply adored, and others that I hated. Either because I didn´t like the style or it was written in a genre I´m not fond of to begin with.

But without further ado: Let´s begin, but be aware of spoilers!!

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

Let´s start with something I absolutely adored!

Nobody Owens escapes death just barely as a young child, and is instead raised by the folks at the graveyard. Ghost and spirits of the deceased and his legal guardian Silas, who is clearly a vampire though it never gets outright said in the novel. We follow Bod around, as he grows up, makes friends, gets though of as an imaginary friend several times, and even meets the personification of death. With him we explore the stories of the graveyard he grew up on, and the secrets it has.

I loved the character of Nobody „Bod“ Owens and how he interacted with the world! This was the first book I read, that was written by Gaiman and I gotta say I wasn´t disappointed. There was such a heart wrenching moment, when the story came to an end, that really felt like a final goodbye. The story, was inviting to read, and didn´t become boring. I genuinely enjoyed reading it, and was left with a melancholy, that comes with a story, that is about growing up!

The Wicked and the Damned by Warhammer Horror

This is one of the books, where it was gifted to me, and the genre is not something I enjoy.

Three people meet up in a place full of the death, without a clue how they even arrived here, they tell the stories of their lives in hope of finding out what had brought them here. We get told of a soldier, who keeps the army in line, and fulfils his duty with a fervor. A woman, who did everything to rise through the ranks, and now is haunted her own deeds. A pastor, who simply can´t believe in what he does and slowly looses his faith. We get told their stories, and how they ended.

Here we have a gritty and rather bleak horror novel, with hints of it being Sci-Fi, where not one of our protagonists is likeable in my opinion. Their motivations always seemed so horrible to me. I think, in the end, this story, is really about the absolute depravity humanity can reach. The scenario is some far away future, where society is ruled by, what seems to be a dictatorship and religion. We have the stories of 3 different people, and how they deal with the situations they find themselves in. All of them, by the way, don´t deal all that well. Worth it I think if you´re a fan of horror and Sci-Fi, and to be honest kind of bleak stories, but otherwise, it can become exhausting to read.

The Christmas Pig by J.K. Rowling

It´s a cute little children´s stories, and it is good.

The premise could be described as „Where do the things we loose end up?“ Jack will find out, as he makes the journey to recover his stuffed animal, that he lost. On his journey, he comes to know the stories, how quite a few of the things he met ended up lost, and the horrible threat that looms over, the entire realm, as he slowly learns to love.

The story beats come at the right time, and the story itself is interesting as well. I found it quite fascinating how some things were working with „The Lost and Found“ concerning everything inside the story. I also quite liked the character voices.

Amok by Richard Bachman

The entire concept of the story is interesting.

The setting: A high school in Maine. After a conversation with the director, Charlie Decker shoots first his teacher and then holds his classmates hostage. Let the mind games begin, as he simply talks with them, while keeping the police in check

Getting into the mind of Charlie was something I enjoyed, though I have to admit, when the story comes to an end I can´t quite tell you what happened. Either because I was sleep deprived when reading that last part or because I seem to have terrible reading comprehension or because it isn´t that clear to begin with. In the end, I enjoyed it regardless.

'Salem's Lot by Stephen King

Another horror novel, that was gifted to me...

Ben Mears returns as a successful novelist back to his childhood home. He plans to write a novel in this deserted town, far away from the big cities. Almost at the same time, a weird stranger shows up as well, who decides to rent a building that has been empty for decades, because the previous owner just up and vanished. Soon enough, it becomes weird. Lights burning without a source, a dog gets found dead, and children go missing.

I´ll be honest, I expected witches, demonic rituals, anything, that might connect the happenings to Salem. My first thought was „Salem Witch Trials“ and I was disappointed when I got vampires instead. They were surprising, yeah, but not a great choice in my opinion. Though, my father disagrees with me on that...

Seibetsu "Mona Lisa" no Kimi he by Tsumuji Yoshimura (Volume 2 – Volume 6)

A beautiful manga, that really became important to me personally, and where I fear a bit the ending.

„What gender was the Mona Lisa? There is a lot of myth surrounding the painting, and some even say, that it combines both“ In a world, where everyone is born without a gender, they will have to choose. Most children have chosen who to become around the time, when they celebrate their 12th birthday. Not Hinase. Already 17, they still haven´t decided. And it seems, that time is slowly running out for them, as they are the oldest living person, who still hasn´t decided.

Hinase struggles, resonate with me on a personal level and I´m really invested in how their story will end, even though the end scares me at the same time as well. The love triangle though, is something I am just tolerating. I mean on their own the characters are really well done, and their struggles are just beautifully presented. I just can´t stand the declaration of the Male Interest, and though the Female Interest says the same thing in the beginning, she quickly changes her tune, and realizes, that she would still love Hinase no matter what they become, all the while the Male Interest still is stuck on getting Hinase to become a woman. The characters are good. The love triangle isn´t. The story resonates with me on a personal level.

The Green Mile by Stephen King

The story definitely hit it´s mark with me.

Paul Edgewoth is a prison guard, and tends to talks about his guest. He is responsible for seeing the death penalty through. Though things take a turn to the scary and supernatural when two girls die and John Coffey gets convicted and is put on the death track.

It was a pleasure to read through these books, and slowly getting more and more of the story. I was deeply saddend by the inevitability that seemed to haunt me, after reading it, and truly dreaded the end. It was compelling to read, and a beautiful commentary on something truly despicable. My little summary can´t reach the brilliance of what is happening. Well done, King.

‎The Wicked Sister by Karen Dionne

A thriller, that was truly enjoyable.

The 26 year old Rachel Cunningham lives for 15 years in an „asylum“ in Michigan. She believes, that she killed her own mother as a little child. That memory, of her standing there with the weapon in her hands in front of the body, won´t leave her be. Though the memory lies, and the deadly truth comes creeping in.

It truly took me a while, till I realized, that the little girl in the flashback was not Rachel but her older sister, and in that moment all the tension relied on Rachel first of all figuring out what truly happened, and then escaping her sister. It was tense, and I enjoyed it a lot while reading it on the train.

Leiden sollst du by Laura Wullf

Another great thriller, that kept my interest till the end

Was it really an accident? The seventeen year old Julia was missing for several months only to be found dead. Marie is deeply disturbed by this cause her cousin, Ben, was friends with the now dead girl. She asks her husband, Daniel an ex-cop who is now paralysed, for help and finds out that Ben has been receiving threats and has been followed now for several weeks. Shortly after the next body appear and Marie joins a game she never wanted to play.

I admit, this one is rather average and not that memorable, still it is enjoyable to read through. I liked the characters well enough, and the game the killer plays was also unique enough to keep me interested.

Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch

Another gift, another one, that I really wasn´t fond of.

This is London as you´ve never seen it before. A city of wonders and terrors. A city of ancient secrets, which is haunted by it´s past. A city where you are never far from magic. A city Peter Grant will help you discover: My name is Peter Grant, and I used to be a probationary constable in that mighty army for justice known to all right-thinking people as the Metropolitan Police Service, and to everyone else as the Filth. My story really started when I tried to take a witness statement from a man who was already dead...

Quite frankly, I was glad, when I finally finished the book. Something about the book just rubbed me the wrong way, and so the end couldn´t have come soon enough...

Die Dunklen by Ralf Isau

Something, that collected dust for a very long time in my shelf...

The pianist Sarah d´Albis has synaesthesia. She can see music. While listening to a piece of Franz List a foreboding message is revealed to her. She starts to follow the trail of a secret brotherhood, who call themselves the dark ones. For ages they have been searching for a terrifying piece of music who promises to grant them complete control over humanity. Together with the Russian Oleg, Sarah will do anything in her power to stop them. The future of the world depends on them.

This book would have been a lot more enjoyable if I cared about music and the terminology used for it. As it is, I don´t. While I did like the characters and the stories itself, Isau became to long-winded for me to properly enjoy his story. The end was too often in reach, only for it to be pulled away again.

Santa Clawed by Rita Mae Brown

Goddamn, I hated it...

As Harry well knows, there’s hardly a place on earth cozier than Crozet, Virginia, at Christmastime. Snowflakes, carolers, it’s all picture-perfect until Harry and her husband, Fair, find the tree they’ve chosen grimly decorated with a corpse. The tree farm is run by the Brothers of Love, a semimonastic organization whose members live atop the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. Now, as the season grows merrier, a murderer is growing bolder. One by one, prominent men of Crozet are being crossed off Christmas shopping lists and added to the morgue. And if Harry and her four-legged helpers aren’t very good–and very careful–this Christmas will be her last.

The story was mediocre at best, downright bad at worst. I couldn´t stand to read it, and at the same time get away from the religious imaginary, that was just thrown at me the whole time. I was glad to finally shut it, and will open it never again. Moving on!

Whisper by Isabel Abedi

A reread, and a good one at that.

An unnatural silence lays over Whisper, the old mansion, where Noa is supposed to spend her vacation. The old building hides a secret, which no one dares to mention. Fear but also curiosity drive Noa to discover the trails over a long silenced crime. Together with David, a boy from town, she will discover the secrets of these old walls.

I read this story before, but couldn´t quite remember what had happend so I made my journey again, and it was great. I love how done Noa is with her mother, and I completely forgot about the twist at the end, though it does come kind of outta no where. Got to admit that. I also adore, that all our characters seem like people, and not just walking tropes. It´s nice children book.

Der Verehrer by Charlotte Link

This story is my cup of tea, through and through.

When the body of a recently murdered young woman is found in a forest, the police and her family are confronted with a mystery. For the last six years, the woman was considered to have disappeared without a trace. Only another crime leads to new approaches and to a woman who has no idea she could be the next victim.

This story grabbed me by the throat and refused to let go. It was such an enjoyable read through, I don´t quite know how to put it in words. One thing only: You should know around the halfway point what is going on. At least I did. Though I liked, that Link didn´t try to drag the mystery for too long. It became obvious, but it never lost it´s tension.

Funfact: I took the book with me, while going to my first convention, and I really gotta say I had to convince myself to put it down, when I was reading after coming back to the hotel to wind down for the night, because I had an early start the next day. Amazing story!

Black Out by Marc Elsberg

Let it end already!

On a cold February day, all electricity grids in Europe collapse. The total blackout. Italian computer scientist Piero Manzano suspects a hacker attack and tries to warn the authorities – unsuccessfully. When Europol Commissioner Bollard finally listens to him, dubious e-mails appear in Manzano's computer, directing suspicion to himself. He has come under the crosshair of an adversary who is as sophisticated as he is merciless. Meanwhile, all of Europe is in darkness and the battle for survival begins . . .

At this point most of you should have realized that I hate bleak fiction. I just can´t stand it! This was another book, where it felt like a pain, or worse a chore, to read it. I genuinely couldn´t enjoy it at all. I mean the twist at the end was kind of funny, especially because it´s a call back. But the rest, I dreaded it. While the characters were somewhat fun, they also felt like plain caricatures the whole time. I was glad, when the book finally ended.

Todesträume am Montparnasse by Alexandra von Grote

No, just no...

It is not a pretty sight to see Commissioner Maurice LaBréa at the scene of the crime. The deceased is lying on the bed with his hands and feet tied to the bedposts with a thin nylon cord. The mouth is covered with a large patch. On his chest, the killer deposited a cassette with Ravel's Boléro on it. At first, the police suspect an act of revenge – but shortly after, a similar murder occurs, and LaBréa is confronted with a mystery. A race against time begins . . .

The vibe of this story was just off. I genuinely can´t tell you what it was, that made this story so fucking uncomfortable to read, but I really gotta say, I was the worst. Especially, because I could never pin point, what it was now, that was rubbing me the wrong way. Really the vibes were just so off!!

GANGSTA by Kohske (Volume 1)

I love it! I love it so much! It´s everything.

In Ergastulum, a city rules by violence, drugs and the mafia, there are two independent handymen – Nicolas and Worick. Alex, a former prostitute who joins them, wants to know more about them. About their friendship and past. On the streets murder is a everyday thing, a strange drug and superhumans called Twilights, are calling the tune. It´s a mafia fantasy through and through.

You know what? I take some it back, even though I still love it with all my heart. The story and the world can be a bit bleak. Because Ergastulum and the reality Nicolas lives in. That´s just dark! Still the teasing he exchanges with Worick, the way he already worries over Alex! It´s everything to me! I really, really just adore the way he acts! The way you can already tell how much he loves the people around him. I just love it. Everyone, please give this oldie (and it kinda is) a chance.

Funfact 2: For those, that know of the anime, I could actually see StereoDiveFoundation (the guy who wrote the absolute banger that Renegade is!) live this year ( in June 2023 btw..., yeah it takes that long...)

The Speaker by Traci Chee

It was definitely an interesting read, and I loved the story telling in this.

Having barely escaped the clutches of the Guard, Sefia and Archer are back on the run, slipping into the safety of the forest to tend to their wounds and plan their next move. Haunted by painful memories, Archer struggles to overcome the trauma of his past with the impressors, whose cruelty plagues him whenever he closes his eyes. But when Sefia and Archer happen upon a crew of impressors in the wilderness, Archer finally finds a way to combat his nightmares: by hunting impressors and freeing the boys they hold captive.

Something I have to mention upfront: On a side note, it can work as independent story, even though this particular one is the second book from a trilogy. So my opinion of it, might be a bit strange. Especially because of that. But yet, I still adored the story telling of Chee. She had a beautiful way to bring this entire world closer to me and reading this never felt like a chore to me. My applause. Genuinely. Also, the German title is very dear to me: Ein Schatz aus Papier und Magie (downright poetic)

The Thing on the Doorstep by H.P. Lovecraft

Creepy as fuck, as I hoped it would be.

A collection of short stories by the popular horror author H.P. Lovecraft. Including „The Thing on the Doorstep“, „The Outsider“, „The Colour Out of Space“, „The Dreams in the Witch House“ and „The Shadow Out of Time“.

These short stories had me in a tight grip when I read them. I practically devoured it. It hit all of the right points for me to sit back and question it. Lovecraft allowed me to follow along, while still giving himself enough time to actually explain, what was going on. Well, at least well enough, that I didn´t feel too terribly confused and got annoyed with him. It was a gorgeous collection and definitely worth the read. Because yeah, this was a collection of his though the titular one was by far my favourite.

At the Mountains of Madness by H.P Lovecraft

This one was weird...

Arkham, 1933. Professor Dyer, learns that a scientific expedition will soon leave for Antarctica following in the footsteps of the journey which he himself had made in 1931. In the hope of dissuading the attempt, Dyer decides to make a full account of the tragic events he had survived, this time without omitting the passages which he had kept silent about on his return, for fear of being taken for a madman.

Two years earlier, ships chartered by Miskatonic University had landed on the frozen continent at the start of the Antarctic summer, and the group of four professors and sixteen students set to work immediately. The expedition biologist, Professor Lake, left with several members of the team to follow a promising fossil track. After just a few days, he announced by radio that he had discovered astonishing specimens of an unknown ancient species, before stopping all communication after a terrible storm. Guessing the worst, Dyer went to their rescue the next day. What he discovered went beyond his wildest fears ...

Okay as much as I loved the previous one, this one was a bit strange. I couldn´t quite tell, what his intentions were with that one, but I found it so much more strange and off-putting. It´s written more like an actual scientific report, which made reading it a bit more tedious than the previous one. I´m just not a fan of rhetoric used in those stories, so I knew I wouldn´t like it. In the end the horror story did it´s job though. I was freaked out and a bit afraid.

Monster by Robert Waugh

Admittedly a super interesting, if a bit dry, read.

A series of essays by Robert Waugh, where he explores the themes, motive and narrative in the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. He pulls from the live of Lovecraft, as he tries to find what makes his stories so special, and where the many fears, that Lovecraft uses in his horror come from. The trilogy was titles „A monster of Voices“, „The monster in the mirror“ and „A monster for many“.

It was so interesting to actually read all of this. At some points, it started to feel a bit heavy, but it´s kinda what I expected from a series of academic essays. Though one thing I noticed, because it was frankly hilarious, was how the print got gradually bigger and the books thinner over the course of the three books. No, if there is an avid interest for the work of Lovecraft I recommend checking these essays out.

Profiling Violent Crimes by Ronald Holmes

That one was so much fun!!

Another series of essays, that busy itself with the topic of violent crimes. Where does it pop up? Who are the victims? And who are the guilty? What styles of violent crime are there? And who is the most likely to do what?

It was so much fun to actually read that, cause he comes to a few conclusions that seem pretty strange, but Holmes argues well-enough for them, that it seems to make sense. A book, where I actually enjoyed looking at it´s graphes. Something, I usually dread.

Sisi by Andy Englert

Cute!

Questions about questions, all of which are answered in a well-founded and exciting way in this book.

It was cute little biography, filled with some funfacts about Sisi. Definitely very entertaining to read, but nothing memorable, that I can say now about it. Cuz, while I do like Sisi well enough, certainly not enough to actively memorise facts about her...

Another mediocre book. Not great, but not bad either. Somewhat fun.

Let me tell you something. I was reading this book, while having the nigh watch, and you know what even being awake for far over twenty hours I didn´t fall asleep with it. Which says a bit more, when I tell you that I definitely feel asleep before while reading, several times, pretty often. So, it was interesting enough, to at least keep my attention. Even when I was exhausted beyond belief.

Nahe Tage by Angelika Overrath

Break my heart, why don´t you?

With the last of her mother's belongings, Johanna returns to the apartment where she grew up. As if under duress, she sorts her mother's laundry according to temperature tolerance, and while the washing machine starts running, Johanna makes an inventory of her childhood. . .

What a text on which I ended my year. It made me cry. You can just feel that grief, that Johanna is going through the whole time. The disbelief, as she is still grabbling with what happened. Her childhood. I´m dying. Especially reading this over Christmas was either the best decision ever, or the worst one. I genuinely can´t tell.

I´m finished!! A total of 31 books were read in the year of 2022. Looking back I will definitely continue to sort through my shelves. Cuz I got too many of those damn books. I always collect them but never read them (Note from the future: I try my best here, but I ain´t easy (my to be read list is already longer than it was last year...))

CE Chapter 15: Starting Over

Before returning to Ellie, George went into the bathroom and cleaned up. He didn't want his soulmate to see him covered in blood. Just because she was going to be a part of this life, didn't mean she needed to see it.

He walked outside and silently approved of his men completely surrounding his car. He could see Ellie in the back, nervously playing with her hands.

"Thank you for watching over her," George told his nearest man. "You men did great today. I won't forget this."

"She's your soulmate, sir," Adams said. "Which means she's as much our boss as you are."

"We're loyal to you," Owen added. "And now we're loyal to her."

"I won't forget this," George said again. He looked over at his frightened soulmate and added, "I don't think either one of us will."

"If I may say something, sir," Jacks quietly spoke up. He was relatively new and still was unsure about his place.

"Of course," George said. "What is it, Jacks?"

"I know we've only had a small interaction with Ms. Ellie, but she seems wonderful. You're lucky, sir."

"Thank you, Jacks," George chuckled. "I think you're right. Now I just have to make sure I don't screw it up."

"Something tells me you won't," Owen smirked as the men gave the couple some privacy without going far.

"George?!"

The men turned to see Ellie jumping out of the car and running toward George. They didn't bother to stop her. George welcomed her as she jumped into his arms.

"Why were you gone so long?" She asked shakily.

"I'm sorry, darling," he whispered, tightening his arms around her. "I'm here now."

"Don't leave me," she stuttered. "Please, George. Please don't leave me."

"Never."

Without letting go of her, George led Ellie back to the car. She stayed tucked into his chest the entire drive. She didn't stop to wonder where they were going. Her mind was stuck on the last twenty-four hours. She involuntarily shivered, making George look down at her.

"Are you alright?" He asked under his breath.

"I think so," she stuttered.

"It's okay if you're not," he tried to reassure her. When she didn't say anything, he added, "Ellie, I hope you know you can talk to me. I want you to."

"I just. . . I don't really know how to react," Ellie admitted. "I was taken by my soulmate's enemy. And why? Because my soulmate runs the mafia. I feel like I'm talking about a dream I had or a book I read. It's. . . Crazy."

"I know you may not believe me," George sighed, "but I do understand. When my father told me the truth about where he goes and what he does every day, I thought he was insane."

"How old were you when he told you the truth?" Ellie asked.

"Thirteen."

"That young?"

"Yeah," George shrugged. "He had just gotten diagnosed with cancer."

"Oh," she mumbled, "I'm so sorry, George."

She reached over and grabbed his hand. He smiled and instantly squeezed her hand.

"Thank you," he smiled at her.

They rode the rest of the way in comfortable silence. George looked down as they pulled into the mansion. He smiled when he saw Ellie sleeping on his shoulder.

"Sir? We're here."

"Alright," George said. He paused before adding, "Will you have my mother prepare a room for Ellie?"

"Of course, sir."

"See if the one next to mine is free. If not next to mine, next to my mother."

"Yes, sir."

George looked down and didn't want to wake her but he knew he had to. He reached up and gently ran his fingers through her hair.

"Ellie," he whispered. His heart felt weird as she slowly woke up. "We're here, baby."

"Where?" She asked sleepily as she sat up.

"My mansion," George said, feeling embarrassed that he lives in a mansion for the first time in his life. He cleared his throat before lowering his voice and saying, "I want you to stay with me."

"Are you sure?" Ellie stuttered.

"Of course," he said instantly. "Ellie, I have the best security in the city. All within these walls. I can protect you anywhere, but not as well as I could here."

He thought about it before adding, "Plus, you're my soulmate. You should be with me."

"Okay," Ellie shrugged. "If you insist."

"I do," he said softly. "I don't want to force you, darling. I just want to make sure you're safe."

George smiled when he saw the blush forming on his soulmate's face. He grabbed her hand and helped her out of the car. She gasped, her legs giving out. Luckily George caught her.

"I got you," he said softly.

He wrapped his arm around her waist and led her inside. They walked in and Ellie couldn't stop herself from looking around the house.

"I swear it starts to feel smaller," George chuckled. "It may take a few years but it does get smaller."

"Good to know," Ellie giggled.

"The room is ready, sir."

"The room?" Ellie stuttered.

"It's the room next to yours," Jacobs clarified. Ellie looked up at George, full of curiosity.

"I didn't want you to feel like I was forcing you to stay with me. . . in my room."

"Oh," Ellie said under his breath. "Thank you."

With his arm still wrapped around her, he showed her where her room was. She walked inside and immediately looked around the room. The room was perfectly clean.

"This is beautiful," she commented.

"My mom wanted a room for my future soulmate so she felt comfortable," he told her. "She wanted my soulmate to live here the moment I met her."

"She did?"

"Well," George hesitated, "this life is dangerous. She knew that if you lived here, you'd be safe."

"Am I safe?" Ellie asked before she could stop herself. George's demeanor changed at the thought of her not being safe.

"You are a hundred percent safe with me, Eleanor."

"George. . ." Ellie stuttered.

"I will do whatever it takes to protect you," he continued. "It doesn't matter if you ever fall in love with me. You're my soulmate and that means we're connected. I will protect you with everything I have, Ellie. I promise."

"I believe you," she whispered.

"Good," he chuckled. He cleared his throat before adding, "Well, it's been a long day. You should get some sleep."

He was about to leave but stopped. He walked over to her and leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.

"Good night, soulmate."

"Good night," she whispered. Guilt enveloped her as she thought about how much trouble he must have gone through to find her and the things he did to save her.

"There's something I have to tell you," Ellie rushed out before he could leave.

"What is it?" He asked, stepping back over to her.

"I think you need to know why I agreed to stay here tonight," she started to explain as she played with her hands.

"Ellie," George said gently. "It's okay. You don't have to. . ."

"I'm scared to go home."

"What?" His tone changed. He grabbed her hands and pulled her closer. "Why are you scared to go home, sweetheart?"

"Davidson's men were waiting outside my house when I got home from work the night that he. . . I'm scared that they might still be there to get payback for what you did to him. Or maybe. . ."

"Jacobs!"

George turned on his heel and went to the door. Ellie wrapped her arms around herself, nervously chewing on her bottom lip.

"Yes, sir?"

"I want you to send a few men to Ellie's house. Make sure no one is waiting for her," George instructed. "Have them stay there to be sure no one shows up."

"Yes, sir," Jacobs said before leaving.

"And send another team to her bookshop," he added.

"Yes, sir."

George turned back toward his soulmate with a smile on his face.

"There," he said. "Problem solved."

"That easy?" Ellie asked, nervously playing with her fingers.

"That easy."
