An evening at Lysebotn.
Photographs can't convey the sheer scale or pitch of those mountains. They plunge, as sheer as cliff faces, from skyscraper heights.
What absolutely wrecked me was the knowledge that cruise ships can sail all the way into these fjords. Picture the stone plunging just as steeply hundreds of metres beneath the water. Lysefjorden is 422m deep.

Haven't found a name for this waterfall or even for the river it is part of. It flows out of Troppevatnet and through Neverdalen into Lysefjorden.

From Preikestolen in Ryfylke, it is 604 meters down to Lysefjorden. The mountain plateau has been a tourist destination for over 100 years. We believe this picture dates from the 1950s.
