10 Country Songs About Cars and Driving
Are you planning a road trip and tired of audio books?
When you’re on a road trip, no matter where you are headed, nothing makes the miles pass by quicker than a good country tune. And just like you need reliable car insurance, you need to know some good tunes to jam out to on the open road.
Not that familiar with country songs about cars? We’ve got you covered. Keep reading to discover the best songs about cars and the best songs about being on the road!
1. “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line
If you’re looking for a country song about cars, it’s tough to go wrong with “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line. In fact, it’s difficult to even think about the name of this song without thinking about breezy lyrics such as “Baby you a song, you make me wanna roll my windows down / and cruise!”
While the lyrics are nice and light, they touch on a fundamental truth: A great drive feels a bit like falling in love. Plus, with the open road and the right music, you can experience that feeling again and again.
2. “Let’s Go to Vegas” by Faith Hill
They say it’s more about the journey than the destination. However, in “Let’s Go to Vegas,” Faith Hill makes it clear that a cool destination can make all the difference. This is one of the best songs about cars because it reminds us of the awesome places these vehicles can take us.
This funny song about combining marriage and a killer road trip also serves to remind us of the simple joys in life. “You’re my ace in the hole, I’m your lady luck / Pack a few things and a little money, put ’em in the truck,” Hill sings. Translation: Whether we’re talking about driving, loving, or both, all we need is a good truck to get us where we’re going!
3. “East Bound and Down” by Jerry Reed
“East Bound and Down” by Jerry Reed was always destined to be one of the greatest songs about being on the road. After all, it features lyrics that make us want to turn on the speed, including “Keep your foot hard on the pedal / Son, never mind them brakes / Let it all hang out ’cause we got a run to make.”
Even without those killer lyrics, this song was featured prominently in Smokey and the Bandit, and that’s a film that always gives us the need for speed!
4. “Life Is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts
No list of country songs about cars and trucks would be complete without “Life Is a Highway” by Rascall Flatts. After all, this is a song that goes all-in on the idea that the open road is a metaphor for our very lives.
“Life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long / If you’re going my way, I wanna drive it all night long.” This isn’t just a song about driving a car: it’s a song about driving our own lives into one unforgettable moment after another! Not to mention, this lively tune is bound to perk you up if you get tired on the open road.
5. “On the Road Again” by Willie Nelson
Since its release, Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” has been one of the greatest songs about being on the road. It’s because the singer paints such a powerful portrait of traveling with your friends: “We’re the best of friends / Insisting that the world keep turning our way / And our way / Is on the road again.”
Nelson’s words ring true to wandering hearts everywhere, and if your own way “is on the road again,” you’ll be sure to crank this song up next time you hit the highway.
6. “Take Me Home (Country Roads)” by John Denver
Just admit it. You started humming this song as soon as you read the name!
While the lyrics themselves are tinged with quite a bit of sadness, it’s tough to deny the almost primal appeal of John Denver’s “Take Me Home.” For travelers who are far from home and missing their loved ones, this song will always represent our bittersweet longing to stop cruising, turn the car off, and run through our front door.
7. “I’ve Been Everywhere” by Johnny Cash
Do you love to travel for fun? Or maybe you’ve just lived in many places? Either way, Johnny Cash’s “I’ve Been Everywhere” may just be your anthem.
There’s a lot of fun singing along as Cash sings how he’s lived in places like “Louisville, Nashville, Knoxville, Ombabika, Schefferville, Jacksonville,” and so on. Listening to it, you’re sure to get deep into some memories about all the roads you’ve driven down before.
8. “Take a Back Road” by Rodney Atkins
Why might you need some great country songs about cars and trucks? Well, like Rodney Atkins in “Take a Back Road,” you may just “wanna take the long way home, put a little gravel in my travel.”
We love this song because it emphasizes how every single drive can be magical, even down the humblest back roads. The trick is to spot the everyday magic lurking outside the windows of your classic car.
9. “Drive (for Daddy Gene)” by Alan Jackson
Alan Jackson’s “Drive (for Daddy Gene)” is definitely one of the best songs about cars. However, this unabashed tribute to the singer’s late father always brings tears to our eyes.
That’s because he wears his heart on his sleeve with lyrics like “I’d sit up in the seat and stretch my feet out to the pedals / Smiling like a hero that just received his medal.” As you listen, it won’t be long before you remember those days long ago when your own dad taught you how to drive.
10. “The Road Goes on Forever” by Robert Earl Keen
Country songs about cars always make us want to hit the road. Even when the lyrics take us to some dark places!
That’s what happens in Robert Earl Keen’s “The Road Goes On Forever.” Sure, the story of the song may have a sad ending, but it’s tough to be sad when singing to lyrics like “The road goes on forever, and the party never ends.”

Can we get a dad!Hunter moment, if possible pretty please?
Hunter will tell you he has a Dad moment every day-
Papa Hunter once again got me like:
I have so many different scenarios but here is a random lil something where Hunter and his oldest share a quiet moment. Hope you like.
(Also this loosely follows the context/headcanon that Hunter would be blessed with only daughters. XD)
———
Hunter can’t remember ever being as keen on touch until his girls came along. Sure, there were times his augmented senses protested terribly to all the wonders that came spooled within the fabrics of their existence, but he could disassociate from the unpleasantness for their sake; for a moment longer than a moment of tenderness. There was nothing quite like the touch of a daughter.
Hunter remembers this with his eldest curled in his lap, a rather snazzy ‘do being fabricated entirely of his own accord. She sits thoughtfully, her gaze trained through the large windowpane overlooking the tranquil countryside they reside. Her hands draw shapes over the broad legs she’s caged by. Hunter, immersed in his reverie, doesn’t even remember his acquisition of the hair tie that he now uses to polish off her look. He leans back at his work, and his smugness comes quietly; it turned out mighty fine and compliments her magnificently.
Who’s he kidding; she’s a fierce beauty in everything.
He catches a smile on her lips as he twirls the ends of her hair. He loves the feel of it, thick and heavily textured, a comforting similarity to that of his own.
Yet a variable that bewilders him: how much physical resemblance he and his daughters share.
Hunter is discreet as he leans in and sneaks a whiff, his nose greeted with nothing of artificial scents found in shampoos and sulfates but of more natural, luxurious aromas: the linger of fresh mountain air that danced through each strand as she ran around outside just earlier, the herbal bed of earth she lay in to follow. Those were Hunter’s favorite scents, the ones that smelled of living.
But it didn’t always feel like living, the way his family was inadvertently robbed of any chance of normality—being his children often dictated the smallest of sacrifices be made in order to accommodate their unique father.
Hunter hated it.
They never got to pick out a fun, green apple scented shampoo tailored to their age interest. It was always scentless; simple. They were constantly swathed in simple things. Admirable in its own right, but absolutely frustrating to a man who wanted to give his children moons and stars on silver platters. Nothing less than they deserved.
Their dearest of hearts only further embed the burden. Hunter can’t recall a time he’s ever heard them complain; a silent, solemn reminder that he doesn’t deserve it—them, their understanding. They wanted for nothing whereas Hunter wanted everything for them. It’s a painfully similar purview to that of his brothers growing up.
“It’s okay, Papa,” the eldest placed a delicate hand over his, gazing into him with solvent, mature eyes. Too mature for being just eight. “I know it makes you sad.”
Hunter thought only her mother could read him that well.
“But I’m happy as long as I have you,” she had gone on to assure him.
Even if his spirits weren’t completely remedied, the glittering discernment in his girls was something pride found him on time over again, and again as his oldest turns back to look at him, her long ponytail swishing with the movement. He smooths down the stray wisps at her hairline while she keeps those familiar eyes on him. Those knowing eyes. The color may resemble his own, but she has her mother’s eyes.
She readjusts herself in his lap and settles a small hand on his cheek, the aged tattoo captured assuredly beneath her palm. She touches him and Hunter swears his soul leaves his body. It is not a new sensation. He basks in her presence, a brilliant supernova within the constrains of a child-sized body. It’s a white-hot heat that’s nothing short of dissolving.
Hunter finds himself happily melting for his babies.
He brings his forehead to hers; a keldabe kiss.
A sweet sigh escapes her, conveying her contentment to her father. She never has to explicitly say anything, the bond they possess runs deep to transcend words in a way Hunter still can’t wrap his mind around even after all these years.

Ok I got more song fics how about 2003 donnie with the song simple by Florida Georgia line
Hey, thanks for asking. I love this songs and I'm happy to make this. I hope you will like it, if you don't like it, message me anytime.
Words : 834
Here we go
Tmnt 2003 Donnie x Reader song fic
Simple love
The Reader and Donnie were great friends from the first moment. They liked common things and they had always fun and great time together. Donnie was grateful for them and he can't imagine his life without them. After some time he developed a crush on them. Huge crush on them but he was afraid of rejection, that's why he don't say or didn't do anything. When they were with him, he was always in good mood with smile on his face, his eyes full of love happiness.
Here we are, Reader in the lab with him, tinkering with chemicals and repairing things as usual. He can't take his eyes off them, they were just so gorgeous and breathtaking. He can't help himself. Can I switch on the radio? he politely asked. Reader smiled and said: Of Course. When he turn on volume, his and the Reader's song came, it was by FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE CALLED SIMPLE. He smiled and he came back to his work. Both of them were listening and enjoying this song.
The way your fingers fit in mine
It's five plus five, not rocket science
This day in time, that's hard to find it's true
The road we're on ain't a traffic jam
It's a Sunday drive on a piece of land
It's a paradise as long as I'm with you
It's like one, two, three
Just as easy as can be
Just the way you look at me
You make me smile
Donnie looked at Reader, he smile and he felt so amazing. When they noticed that he looked at them, they look at him but he quickly turn his head to his work and he play it cool like he wasn't staring. The blush on his cheeks was so obvious. The Reader only smile.
Ain't no need to complicate it
We both know that's overrrated
We've been there, it's safe to say it ain't our
style
We're just simple like a six string
The way this world was meant to be Like laughin' love, make a lot out of a little
It's just that simple, S-I-M-P-L-E Simple as can be
It's just that simple, S-I-M-P-L-E Simple as can be
Now was the Reader's turn to stare at him. They scan every feature of him, his eyes, cheeks, lips, arms, body. Reader didn't meant to stare, but it was impossible for them. How he can be this hot ? They thought. Donnie, of course, noticed them and his heart was jumping of joy. He planned to make a move first. But he doesn't know how. He was so shy. This is for what was so adorable to them. For his shyness. He was just so cute and handsome. They quickly turn their head back to their work. Between them was awkward silence. The song continued and both of them was concrentating on lyrics of this song.
We used to live on Instagram
Worry 'bout who all gives a damn
'Bout Where We've been and where we ended up
Then I met you and you met me
And all the rest is history: An epiphany That all we need is us
It's like one, two, three
Just as easy as can be
Just the way look at me
You make me smile
Ain't no need to complicate it
We both know that's overrrated
We've been there, it's safe to say it ain't our style
We're just simple like a six string
The way this world was meant to be Like laughin' love, make a lot out of a little
It's just that simple, S-I-M-P-L-E Simple as can be
It's just that simple, S-I-M-P-L-E
Simple as can be
Donnie looked at them one more time, he came to them and he only smirk. He started to twirl them and they only laughed. He loved their laugh. Botj of them had the time of their life, chemistry between them so big and obvious.
Ain't no need to complicate it
We both know that's overrrated
We've been there, it's safe to say it ain't our style
We're just simple like a six string
The way this world was meant to be Like laughin' love, make a lot out of a little
Both of them stopped, they looked into each other eyes and everything was perfect. The love between them was so simple. He helps them close like he was afraid let them go.
It's just that simple, S-I-M-P-L-E
Simple as can be
It's just that simple, S-I-M-P-L-E
Simple as can be
It's just that simple, S-I-M-P-L-E
Simple as can be
It's just that simple, S-I-M-P-L-E Simple as can be
He start to approach slowly to them and he stole their lips to one beautiful Kiss. He looked into their eyes, to their beautiful eyes that he fallen for. They only smiled and he smiled too. I love you, he said, his words full of love that he feel for them. The Reader only smiled and said : My love for you goes forever. He only smiled and captured their lips for another kiss.
I hope you like it. 💖💖💖💖

Noticing ~ Part 7
Part 7 ~ Planning, trickery and an unexpected mission (July)
Pairing: Steve Rogers x reader
Warnings: Swearing, frustrating Steve, kind of angsty sometimes.
Wordcount: About 3800 words
Summary: Y/N is in love with Steve, but she is afraid to tell him. So she tries to show him by using Cheesy Pickup lines. Will he ever notice her?
A/N: This is written for @buckysmischief Gab’ s 1k writing challenge.
This takes place after Endgame, But Steve did not leave the future. Nat and Tony are still alive.
Almost all pickup-lines are lines I have found on the internet. Some I have adjusted a bit to fit the storyline more.
It was the beginning of July and you had been sneaking around with the team, keeping the plans for Steve’s 106 birthday as secret as possible. You had come with the suggestion a couple of months ago that maybe the team could go away for 4th of July and therefore Steve’s birthday. Somewhere away from all the people and celebrate Steve more privately. The team had agreed that Steve deserved to have a day to relax. Tony offered up one of his more secluded mansions for a mini-vacation slash birthday bash. You had gotten Pepper involved so that she could keep Tony’s extravaganza tendencies in check. If someone could do that, it would be Pepper. Steve had no idea, or at least you hoped that was the case. Peter Parker was not informed about the plans, because he was not good at keeping secrets. How he kept his superhero identity a secret was a wonder to you. Bucky was keeping Steve occupied while you, Wanda, Sam and Morgan were planning for the party. Morgan insisted on there being fireworks, red, blue and white, and you had a hard time telling her no. “Then when the fireworks show is you and uncle Steve can kiss, auntie Y/N,” Morgan smiled at you. That comment made you stop writing the list of supplies you needed to buy. “What?” you could feel your face turning red and you saw Wanda and Sam trying to suppress their laughs. “You know, kiss,” Morgan smushed up her face. “Morgan, where have you gotten an idea like that?” you tried to take a couple of deep breaths. “Dad said that Uncle Steve and you are to blind to see how much in love the two of you with each other. He said that he wonders if he will need to look the two of you in the elevator together and only let you out when the two of you..” Morgan looks up at you with big eyes. “Then he said a bad word.” Sam and Wanda start laughing. They could apparently not hold it in anymore. “Morgan did your father say this to you?” you narrow your eyes. “No, I overheard him talking to Uncle Rhodey,” Morgan admits and you look at Sam and Wanda who is still laughing. “You really should tell your mother what you heard your father say,” you smile at Morgan. Pepper would not like it that Tony was learning Morgan bad words. “What should I tell her Daddy said?” Morgan tilted her head. “The bad word,” You smile at her. “So not that you and uncle Steve love each other?” Morgan smiles at you and you want to groan. “Sweetie, Your mother already knows that,” Sam gets out before he starts laughing again. “And Morgan,” Wanda is smiling brightly, so you know she is up to something. “It’s New Year's Eve that usually kisses during fireworks.” Morgan nods looking serious. You groan, like that would not get ideas into Morgan's head. Hopefully, she would have forgotten all about this before New Year's Eve. The subject is dropped and you continue planning Steve’s birthday party. Hopefully, Morgan would keep her father's opinions to herself in the future, at least when it was about Steve and you.
Sam, Wanda and you were getting back from buying party supplies for Steve’s party. When you step into the compound you see Steve in the hallway. You curse Bucky under your breath. His job was to keep Steve occupied and away from the compound. “We need to distract, Steve, quick,” Sam whispers and nods out in the hallway that Steve was in. If he saw you no the surprise would be destroyed. “Y/N, you need to go distract him,” Wanda pushed you. “Me?!” you look at them. “Yes, I can't keep a straight face right now,” Wanda said and she pushed you out into the hallway. “Hey, Sweetheart,” Steve says when he sees you. “Where is everyone?” “Hmm... I don’t know,” you bit your lower lip. You saw that Steve was carrying one of his sketchbooks. “Have you sketched something new?” Steve nods and you smile. “Can I please see?” you ask and Steve opens the sketchbook. You take the book and Steve stands beside you. This gives Sam and Wanda an opportunity to start carrying the bags to Wanda's room. The first sketch is of Pepper and Morgan walking hand in hand outside. It was as if they would walk out of the paper. The next one is of Bruce and Tony talking close together and laughing. It looked so alive. Then there was a picture of Sam and Bucky bickering. It made you laugh. When you went to turn the page again, Steve tried to take the sketchbook away from you, but you managed to keep it and you turned the page. The next picture is of you laughing and looking beautiful, more beautiful than you had ever seen me. Steve was fidgeting. “Steve these are amazing,” you smile up at him. “You think so?” he asks and you nod. You flip through the sketchbook. There are more sketches of the team and you count to four more of you. It made your body feel warm and kind of like you were floating. He looked at you. He sketched you. “You are so amazing that your birthday should be a national holiday. Oh wait it is!” you wink at Steve and he laughs loud with his head thrown back. You see Sam and Wanda give you thumbs up behind Steve’s back and you know they had gotten all the supplies to Wanda's room. Steve was still laughing and it was the best sound in the world. Even if he did not seem to understand that you were flirting, seeing him laugh was the best part of your day. You told him that you had something to do when he had stopped laughing. You hand the sketchbook back to Steve and go to find Sam and Wanda. There was more planning to do, and even though Steve had seemed kind of disappointed that you could not spend time with him, you knew that it was for his sake. Trying to give him a fantastic birthday.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
It was the day before Steve’s birthday and it was time for the plan to get Steve to the mansion. The plan was to trick Steve there by thinking that you were going on a mission, but not the entire team. Tony, Bruce and Wanda would stay behind, but what they really were doing were taking Pepper, Morgan and all the supplies and everyone's bags of clothes to the mansion. Bucky had managed to pack a bag with Steve's clothes without Steve noticing. You had even gotten Fury and Maria into the ruse and they had called Steve with an important mission. Steve hopped into his Captain America mode directly and followed Fury’s orders and gathered the team for the briefing. Everyone managed to keep a straight face doing the bogus briefing and then you left to go to the Quinjet. Nat and Clint piloted the plane and it was your job to occupy Steve with the help of Sam and Bucky so that Steve would fail to notice that the plane was not going in the right direction, and doing some flying around, to give the rest of the team time to get to the mansion before you. It was easier to distract Steve than you thought. Bucky and Sam started to bicker about who would be Steve's partner on the mission, you had seen their smirks before they started to bicker, so you knew this was something they had planned. Which you were grateful for because you had no idea how to occupy him. All your energy had gone to plan the party. After one hour of bickering, Steve groaned and got up and stalked over to Sam and Bucky. “Enough,” he crossed his arms over his chest. “Neither of you are going to be my partner on this mission. Y/N is.” He looked over to you, which Sam and Bucky did as well. They smirked at you and you looked away. You saw Clint do a little gesture that meant that you would be landing in about 20 minutes. All you needed was to keep Steve distracted for a bit more. You got an idea and pulled out your phone and your earphones. When you pulled your bubs into your ears and not even 2 minutes later Steve sat down next to you. You smiled at him and pulled one of the buds out. “You really need to hear this song, Steve,” you handed him one of the buds and he put it in. Sam was giving you thumbs up behind Steve’s back. The song you were listening to was ‘What A Man Gotta Do’ with Jonas Brothers. You were dancing in your seat and miming along. Steve was listening to the song and looking at you. He was laughing and started to move along with the beat. When that song ended ‘Simple’ with Florida Georgia Line started to play and you whistled with the intro and then you started to mime with the song again. Bucky and Sam were looking on as you basically were making a fool out of yourself in front of Steve, but you did not care. This was how you were when you listened to your happy playlist and you had always been able to be yourself around Steve. When they sang “It's like one, two, three” you counted with your fingers. Steve kept his eyes looking at you and smiling. You winked at him when they sang “You make me smile”. He laughed and smiled brightly at you. It was nice to see Steve this relaxed and that it was because of you. Then one of the new Taylor Swift songs came on “Me” that she sings with Brendon Urie and you laughed before you started to mime along. When Taylor sang ‘And you're the kind of guy the ladies want’ you pointed at Steve and he blushed. And then you pointed between the team during the song on what part that was accurate for that person. Nat’s back during ‘there are a lot of cool chicks out there’. Clint’s back you pointed at when Taylor sang ‘I never leave well enough alone’. And Steve gave you a big smile. Bucky you pointed at when the lyrics were ‘trouble's gonna follow where I go’. Steve nodded at your pointing, apparently, that one was on point. Sam, you pointed at during ‘And there's a lot of lame guys out there’. Steve threw his head back laughing. Other than that you pointed a lot on you and on Steve. He was having a good time to, pointing back at you during the song. When the song ended you saw that it was time to land. You did not want to end the fun you were having, but it was time for Steve’s surprise. You nodded at Bucky and Sam when they came over to you. Clint started to land and Steve looked around. “What is happening?” He asked and stood up. Bucky pushed him down in his seat next to you, carefully but firm. “We are not supposed to land for at least 5 hours,” Steve looked at you and you smiled. Bucky was keeping Steve in place. “Wait,” you told Steve. “You will soon see.” Steve handed your earbud back and it was as the fun you were having was blown away. He was almost rigid in the seat next to you. When the Quinjet had landed you took Steve’s hand and together you stood up. He shocked your hand out of his and was like a slap. Maybe this had not been a good idea? Bucky and Sam took over and went with Steve to the back of the jet. They opened the door. “This is not a Hydra base,” was all Steve said before the rest of the team Pepper, Morgan and Happy jumped out in front of him. “Surprise!” everyone yelled and Steve’s mouth opened wide. “We are here to celebrate your birthday,” Sam explains when Steve still is quiet after a minute. He looks around at everyone. “You did this for me?” Steve looks at Bucky and just as Bucky is going to explain it was your idea. You shake your head towards him. “The whole team did,” Sam looks at you kind of mad. You did not want to take the credit for all the work to get the party together. “This is great,” Steve said looking around. “Fury and Hill were in on it, right?” He looks over at Tony who nods. “Yes, they were,” Tony looks at you, but you turn around to get your bag. “They thought that you deserved a mini-vacation as much as we do.” Sam claps his hands. “Let’s go pack up and then the celebration can start,” he almost squealed. Everyone went into Tony’s mansion that was bigger than you thought. It was by a lake, and Tony tells everyone about his boats and all the fun you could do while you are here. When Tony says something about water-skiing both Sam and Clint starts jumping up and down. But then Tony tells everyone that only Pepper, him or you could drive the boat. Tony knew all about your past, so it did not surprise you that he knew about all the summers you spent on a lake with your family before everything went to hell. Sam turns to you with a big smile. “Y/N, please drive us so we can water-ski,” he is giving you serious puppy-eyes and when you look away you see that Clint is doing the same. You toss your hands up in the air. “Fine, just let me change my clothes,” You follow Pepper’s directions to the room that would be yours during the stay. Apparently, the house was so big that nobody needed to share a room, well the couples were sharing, but the people that were single did not have to share with anyone. You opened your bag and pulled out your red bikini and your black lace beach dress. After getting dressed you went down the stairs and found Sam and Clint dressed in their swimming trunks already waiting for you. Tony handed you the keys and winks at you. Together you walk down to the dock and onto the boat. Steve and Bucky come running down towards the boat. They also were dressed in swimming trunks. “Are there room for us as well?” Bucky asked when they were by the boar. Sam nodded and invited them on board. “Hold on,” You pulled on your sunglasses and speeded away from land. Steve came up to you and stood beside you. It gives you a good view of his toned stomach and biceps. There is an argument on who should go first on the skiis until you tell them that you decide so Clint gets to go first. He smiles at you and puts the skis on. When you are speeding on the lake with Clint on the skis behind you you see Steve's big smile on his lips. “You float my boat,” You pull your sunglasses down and wink at him before you pull them up again. Steve throws his head back laughing. Bucky smirks at you and you understood that he had heard what you said.
A couple of hours later when all the men had tried the water skis a couple of times you told them that you needed food. They all agreed and back to the dock you went. The rest of the day was spent lounging by the pool with the rest of the team and eating fantastic food.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The next day you wake up early to go down and start baking Steve’s birthday cake. You chose the caterer's kitchen in the back of the house and not the main kitchen. So that Steve would not see the cake before it was finished. Morgan walks in ten minutes after you have started. “Dad said that you probably were awake so that I should bug you instead,” Morgan gives you a hug. “That sounds about right,” you smile at her. “What are you doing?” Morgan is watching you put everything you need to bake a cake for Steve on the counter. “A birthday cake for Steve.” “Can I help?” Morgan looks at you with big eyes. “Sure,” You say and together you start baking the cake. You had music on and was dancing and having fun with Morgan while baking.
When you leave the cake to cool you walk into the kitchen to find Wanda and Pepper doing breakfast for everyone. Steve had not come down yet, but apparently, they had sent up Bucky to wake him. “Happy Birthday, Punk!” you heard Bucky yell loud and you knew that Steve was up. It made everyone in the kitchen laugh, even if you did not want that kind of wake up call any morning.
A couple of hours later you had finished the cake. Morgan had been running in and out the entire morning. She thought it was no longer fun when you were not mixing things but assembling the cake. You had gone with a simple cake, that looked like a sketchbook. It was open to a sketch. From the begining your idea had been to have a sketch of Steve, but you were nowhere near as talented as Steve. So when the sketching had failed and it looked awful, Morgan had come up with the idea to do a sketch of Steve’s shield. Even you could not mess that one up. You took a step back and saw the finished product. Pepper and Wanda came in and they loved the cake.
Later that evening Tony had grilled some food, Wanda and You had done some potato salad and salad and together you all sat down as a family out on the deck enjoying the view and breeze from the lake. You toasted Steve and had a wonderful time. Thor had shown up about an hour earlier with Asgardian Mead for the Super Soldiers and Steve looked happy and relaxed sitting in at the end of the table. The conversations were flowing and you all had an amazing time. Steve liked all the presents he had gotten after the dinner, and you saw him look a bit longer on the coloured sketching pens that you had gotten him along with a new thick sketchbook. You hoped he would like sketching with them. After the presents had been opened it had become dark outside and Tony told everyone to stand by the railing of the porch. You should have known that Tony would have something up his sleeve. You had left him in charge of the fireworks because it was the 4th of July after all. You had one condition though. That was that the firework should be silent, for all the animals and people who have a problem with the loud noises. It seemed like Tony had come true, the fireworks were fantastic raging with the colours of red, blue and white. It could rival with Disney World’s fireworks and everyone stood looking up in awe at, but sometimes you sneaked a peek to see that Steve was enjoying it. Steve was standing next to you and he put his arm around your shoulder and he looked down on you during one point and smiled at you. Then you came up with what to say.“Baby, you are a firework,” you said loud enough so that everyone heard you. Steve kissed your forehead and laughed at your pick-up line before he looked up on the fireworks again.
A couple of moments later Tony gave you a bit of a gesture that it was time for the cake, you walked away from Steve and into the kitchen and lit the candles on the cake and came out. Everyone turned around as you stepped out on the porch and they started to sing happy birthday to Steve. The man of the hour was laughing and smiling and having a great time. He seemed to enjoy the cake and everyone was commenting on how much they loved the design. When you finally got to bed that night, or early the next morning you knew that it had been a perfect day. Everybody seemed to have enjoyed themself and Steve looked relaxed the whole day. You fell asleep with a big smile on your lips.
The next morning you woke up early and was planning to make the team breakfast, but in the kitchen was Fury and Maria sitting at the counter. “Please tell me you are not here to send us on a mission,” You said as you hugged them. You went away back with the both of them, and Fury had always been like a kind of father figure for you. Especially after your family, all had died. Fury had been the one to keep you grounded, well Fury and Coulson. They were old family friends since your father and mother had been Shield agents. It was only natural that your big brother had joined Shield as well, and you had planned on doing the same, but then they had all died and you were left alone. During a training session with Melinda May, you had tapped into your powers, that nobody knew you had. It had been quite a revelation and when you had trained for a couple of years, Fury had insisted that you joined the Avengers. “Not the whole team,” Maria hands you a folder and you open it. They were sending you on a mission. To Russia for an entire month, at least. “When do I leave?” you looked at Fury. “As soon as you can,” Fury said and you nodded. You hated to leave the vacation, but you were happy you were the only one that needed to leave. The others deserved the vacation and you knew that if Fury came to you himself then this was an important mission. You could not turn it down. “Just let me get packed,” you said and left the kitchen. You were packed in under ten minutes and then you went down to the kitchen. Steve was having a heated discussion with Fury when you came down. “She is not going,” you heard Steve say. You dropped your bag on the floor with a trump. All eyes in the room were on you. “Yes, I am,” you said to Steve. “I can make my own decisions and this is a mission where my skills are needed.” “They can send someone else,” Steve crossed his arms. “You are on vacation.” You walked over to him and kissed his cheek. “Tell the team I will be in contact if I can,” you hugged him. “And enjoy your vacation.” With those words, you left the mansion and after a few minutes, Fury and Maria joined you. “Let’s go,” you boarded their jet and you flew away. You saw Steve walk out of the mansion looking after you.

Take It Out On Me
This is a song fic inspired by Florida Georgia Line’s “Take It Out On Me”. I highly suggest you listen to the song first before you read this fic, as the contents of the song will help give more context for this story, though it isn’t a requirement. Here’s a link X to a youtube lyric video for the song.
Thank you to @r-ahh-mi and @xmxisxforxmaybe for the feedback on this, and to you ladies in the Discord server. XOXOXOXO
Warnings: Unprotected sex (wrap it before you tap it folks), mentions of abuse, cheating, some language, drug use mention, angst, and a lot of love.
It’s been a few weeks since you’ve found yourself standing here at almost midnight, knocking on his door, but things with your boyfriend Ryan were going to shit again and you needed him tonight. Him, your best friend since childhood, and sometimes lover. On nights like these you didn’t know where else to go or who else you could turn to when things at home were going to hell. No matter what was going on in your life he was always there for you. He was always telling you that you didn’t need to call, that you could show up anytime you needed him.
It only took a few knocks before you saw a light turn on inside the door, heard the lock click and the door swung open. His eyes were tired from the sleep that you had obviously disturbed but his smile bright as you stepped inside. He said nothing, he rarely does, his eyes just drinking in your appearance. The red and puffy eyes a clear sign that you’d been crying recently along with the shadow of a bruise beginning to form on the side of your face, told him everything he needed to know, the reason you’d come back tonight. Visits like these were becoming more frequent as of late, and yet he never complained about the lateness of the hour or the state of your appearance when you showed up.
After quietly shutting and re-locking the door he reached out to help you slide your coat off your shoulders taking it out of your hands as he hung it on the hook by the door right next to his.
“Rami-I-I-.. He.” you struggled, trying to find your words as you choked back tears that you didn’t want him to see fall. You know it killed him to see you upset for any reason but he hated how badly you were always hurting because of your current boyfriend. He was well aware of how fucked up your relationship with Ryan was, but he never expressed an opinion that you didn’t ask for and he never gave you the “you’ve got to leave” lecture. He was always just there, just like tonight, with open ears, open arms, and an open bed.
You felt him put his hand on your shoulder, such a simple touch but it meant everything to you. He never pressed for answers because he never asked questions, and you never understood why. Maybe because he wanted you to choose whether you are ready or not to talk about whatever was on your mind, or perhaps there was another reason. You were never quite sure.
You spun around and threw your arms around his neck and pressed your lips to his. This moment, the one you both knew was coming the real reason that you showed up at his house at nearly midnight on Tuesday.
You needed him. Just like you always do.
You pull your body away from his and smile up at him.
“Rami, baby, I need you. I need you so bad. Noone has ever made me feel like you do. Can I have you tonight? Please?” your eyes pleading and tone taking on one of desperation.
“Of course baby. I told you that I will always be here when you need me. I’m a shoulder for you to cry on and you can take it all out on me in any way that you need to.” he gently spoke, before capturing your lips in a searing kiss, his hand gently cupping the non-bruised side of your face. His kisses were always the kind that leave your knees weak and your core a throbbing mess.
You barely register that you were both moving towards his bedroom, but you didn’t mind. This is what you came here for, what you almost always came here for these days.
His gentle, strong hands quickly helping you shed your clothing, as your hands found their way to the waistband of his pajama bottoms. Pulling them down hard enough that they slide down his legs, before he stepped out of them and kicked them away.
You reach down to wrap your hand around his cock, but he moves your hands away, as he softly lays you down on the bed.
”What do you need from me tonight my love?” he quietly asks.
“Just love me. Please. Just love me.” you plead. Already desperate for his touch, wanting nothing more than to get lost in the feel of his body on yours. The way he always makes you feel so good. Nearly bursting into tears, your eyes search his before his lips descend on yours once again.
You feel his hands at your hips, ghosting their way down your thighs, before his hands find your center.
“So wet for me already my love. I’m going to make you feel really good tonight.” he smirks as his fingers find your clit.
He always makes you feel good and he knew it, but his reassurance and confidence in his ability to love you the way you crave was always welcome.
Your back arches off the bed as pleasure begins to course through your body. His touch firm, yet gentle, because you asked for him to love you. Sometimes you ask him to hurt you, which he doesn’t like but he obliges any way. You know he’d do anything you ask of him even if he didn’t understand it or like it.
“Oh God… Rami.. yess..please..” you whine as his deft fingers continue to work you.
You felt it coming like a freight train, there was no stopping it even if you wanted to, as your orgasm washed over you, coming completely undone for him, and only him, his name spilling from your lips like a chant, bouncing off the walls in the late night silence of the house. Opening your eyes to watch his face, the little self-satisfied smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
“Ready?” he inquired, still wearing that beautiful smile that he was known for.
Your response was to place your hands on his hips in an attempt to pull him closer to you.
You felt him grab your hips and pull you to him lifting your hips just slightly, as he guided himself into you, letting out a low moan as he slid into your wet folds.
“Oh God Y/N. You are so tight.” he whines out, as his hips begin to move his strong hands firmly but not roughly gripping your hips.
You watch his face as he keeps moving his eyes shut tight as his breath catches.
“So beautiful. You’re so beautiful. God you are so perfect Y/N.” he continued with his stream of consciousness musings, his breath hitching every time his hips meet yours.
His words hitting your heart and making you feel like the most loved person in the world as his moans fill your ears. Just as much pleasure as he gives you, you know that deep down you give him the same pleasure in return.
“Oh God Rami, please baby don’t stop. You make me feel so good.” you said while bucking your hips against his, urging him to move a little faster. Your fingers running through his hair before lightly sliding down his neck, across his shoulders and down his back. Wrapping your legs around his waist and lifting your hips to marginally change the angle, both of you letting out a deep moan into each others ears.
His hips pick up the pace and you couldn’t stop the words from spilling from your lips at the blissful feelings his movements are causing.
“Oh baby… yess.” throwing your head back closing your eyes and giving into the simple pleasure that he is creating with every thrust of his hips.
“Baby I’m close… so close.. Oh my god” you cry out, his hands sliding into yours as he continues his moving his hips.
“Cum for me baby. Let me hear you. Say my name…” he begs you.
Only a few seconds later the dam of feelings and pleasure that was building low in the pit of you stomach, released and you cried out “Oh… Ohhh.. Rami.. yes… Rami… Rami..” repeating his name like a mantra as you clench around him, the flood of wetness slicking your thighs as he followed shortly after, painting your walls with his warmth, as he chanted your name over and over, until he collapsed on top of you.
Your sweaty bodies tangled together as you both come down from your high, you whispered the words that you had been biting back for way to long but wouldn’t have the courage to say except in the throes or the aftermath of passion.
“I love you.”
He rolls off of you, but pulls your body close to his chest, as he buries his face in your hair. All you can hear is him mumbling something in arabic, but you’ve no idea what it is. Anytime he speaks to you in arabic and you ask what he’s saying his will just smile conspiratorially and tell you that you don't need to know.
You find yourself slowly falling into a sleep that you didn’t think that you would, and so rarely get. The kind of sleep brought on by satisfaction, safety, comfort and just general contentment. Your face is buried in his chest as he runs his fingers down your back in a sweet and soothing manner. You can feel the deep hum and vibrations of his voice through his chest as he continues his musings in arabic. His secrets were his to keep after all, but one day, you’ll make him tell you what he means. Your eyes closing at the soothing sound of the beautiful words leaving his lips and the warmth of his body pressed so closely to yours. Just before you completely fall under the spell of sleep you couldn’t help but wonder if this is what heaven is like, because you don’t ever want to leave if it is.
You awake a few hours later, still pressed closely to his body his arms wrapped around you, hating this part with every fiber of your being. The leaving. This was the part that always tore your heart into pieces but it’s the inevitable conclusion to your nights together. You slowly untangle yourself from him and shiver at the coolness of the air, quietly pulling yourself out of bed to find your clothes. The tears that you didn’t want to began to silently run down your cheeks, knowing that what awaits you at home was not going to be pleasant. Fighting with yourself and resisting the urge to crawl back into the bed.
Once you’ve re-dressed you lean down and kiss his forehead and whisper,”I love you” as you shut the bedroom door behind you. Grabbing your jacket off the hook and letting yourself out; you can’t stop the sobs from escaping as you sit behind the wheel of your car.
You’ve tried for too long to let yourself believe the lie, that you didn’t care that it was just sex, but it wasn’t. You were in love with your childhood best friend and you continually complicate your own life by allowing yourself to take out all of your hurt and pain on him that was caused by your relationship with Ryan. Forcing yourself to swallow back the tears, you start your car and drive yourself home.
A week later you made a realization, something huge that was going to irrevocably change your life, you decided after another blow up with Ryan that you were done. He had hit you for the last time, you didn’t deserve what was continually happening to you all because he kept choosing to get high. You were done fighting for something that in the end really meant nothing.
After Ryan slammed the door to your small shared apartment you went to your closet, grabbing your backpack and began shoving random and essential items into it. You can’t live like this anymore. Escape was the only thing on your mind, as you haphazardly threw whatever would fit into your backpack and small suitcase.
Closing the apartment door behind you, not bothering to lock it you sprinted to your car, too eager to put the shame and pain of Ryan behind you. In tears, you drove yourself fifteen minutes to the one place that you needed. You needed him. Seeking the comfort that you were so desperate for, and knowing there is only one place you’d find it.
Pulling up outside his house, you almost started to cry when you realized that the house was completely dark. Either he was in bed already, or he wasn’t home and your stomach began to flip flop with nerves. Shakily getting out of the car you walked to the front door, ringing the doorbell and knocking, hoping against hope that he was just in bed early. You waited anxiously for far too long, before the tears began again and you slumped against the front door, before sliding to the ground body wracked with sobs. He wasn’t home, at the one time you needed him more than ever, and a part of you started to feel angry. It wasn’t his fault though, he had a life outside of you, and he had to live it just the same as you had to live yours.
You decided to pick yourself up off the ground, and with whatever dignity you had left you climbed down the steps of the front porch and started walking back to your car. The feelings swirling inside of you like a storm brewing, unsure of what to do except cry because as of late that seems to be the only way you are able to deal with anything when you were temporarily blinded by the headlights of a car pulling into his driveway.
The car stopped and you heard the window rolling down before you heard him speak.
“Y/N?” he asked confusion on his face. “Baby are you okay?”
You couldn’t respond with any words, running a hand through your hair the tears began again. You hear the garage door opening and his cars engine turn off. Unable to register anything else until you felt his arms wrap around you you sank into his chest as the tears kept flowing.
“Why don’t we go inside and I’ll fix us a drink.” he stated as his hand slid into yours and he guided you into the garage and through the door. Flipping on a few lights as he went you both ended up standing in his kitchen in silence for a few moments before he spoke up again.
“What’s your poison baby? Vodka right? I’m sure I still have a bottle in the freezer.”
“I can’t drink.” you mumbled, with a casual shrug of your shoulder as you took a seat on one of the barstools at the kitchen island.
“Why?” he inquired his eyes intensely focused on you.
“Because… I’m…. I.. Rami I’m fucking pregnant.” you stutter out, tears stinging at your eyes threatening to spill for the millionth time in the last however many hours had passed.
The shock on his face barely registered before he it was replaced quickly with sadness followed by concern.
“How can I help you? Do you know what you want to do?” his body stiff and bordering on closed off.
If you didn’t know him so well you’d almost feel safe venturing a guess that he was angry. Until you realize that he had no way of knowing the truth until you felt brave enough to confess to him the one agonizing truth that could either make or wreck your entire world.
“I swear babe, I’m not great with words you know this. I don’t always express myself clearly or concisely. Rami, I’m not aborting this baby because this baby means everything in the world to me; it was made out of love, not in a place a pain or hurt. I think you misunderstand what I’m trying to say Rami. The truth is that Ryan and I haven’t had sex in months. He’s been too strung out on drugs to be able to even get it up and.. and… this baby isn’t his, it’s yours. You are the only man I’ve been with in any sexual capacity in months. So please, don’t be angry with me, I just found out about this a few days ago when my period decided not to show up.” you couldn’t bear to look at him as you were speaking out of fear of rejection. This isn’t exactly the kind of truth that is easy to tell.
Nearly falling out of your chair at the sudden sound of shattering glass you lift your gaze upward in Rami’s direction to ascertain that everything was in fact alright, and you fight the urge to let out a bark of laughter when you realize that he had simply dropped the glass he was holding because he was in shock.
“Rami?” you try to coax him to blink, move, speak or something.
“Huh..Are you… are you.. Did you.. Is this for real?” was all he managed to stutter out.
A head nod from you and a small tentative smile, and before you realize what was happening you found yourself yanked out of your chair and enveloped in his arms as he cooed something you didn’t understand into your hair. The waterworks you’d once again been trying to dam up were obviously at this point going to be never ending tonight. Letting yourself relax in his arms you let out a loud sigh of relief and a small bark of laughter.
“Rami?”
“Yes, my love?
“Love me, please.”
“Gladly.” he smiles as he grabs your hand and starts to pull you towards his bedroom.
“No, Rami that’s not what I meant. I guess what I should have said is. Well..I...I love you Rami. So fucking much that I hated what I was doing to you. I hated myself for going back to him. I’ve only ever wanted you for a long time now, but I just... I never thought that you would ever want me like I want you. I pray for a forever with you. It wasn’t until last week after you made love to me, and afterwards you said something to me in arabic. Well I committed it to memory and asked my neighbor what it meant, and she smiled and said ‘I love you.’ I cried as I was leaving because my heaven Rami, is in your arms. I don’t care where we are or what we are doing, I just want you. Is it true? Do you really love me? I’ve known you since we were so young and I’ve… I...I’ve known for a long time that you are the only man I’ve ever really wanted. I just.. You are so beautiful and I guess I just never entertained the thought that it could ever be possible that you would love me the way that I love you”
You almost started crying again until you feel his hands on your chin lifting your face to meet his eyes. He brings his lips to yours and then threads his fingers in your hair. You almost stumble into him before your kiss turns heated. The burning desire that his kisses always leave suddenly flared and your whole body felt like you were standing in the center of a bonfire. He pulls his lips away from yours and with a pout you watched him intently as he began to confess his feelings.
“Y/N, my love, oh my love, I have wanted you since we were 5. You can ask my mom and brother, I swear it. I told them both when I was 5 years old that I would marry you someday. Sure we’ve been with other people and we’ve had some difficulties along the way, but all that matters is that we are here now, living in this moment, together. I love you, only you, and will only love you until the day I die. Will you be mine forever? You deserve so much more than I could ever give you, but I will always do my best to take care of you, to provide for you, to build a life with you. I want to make you my wife and I want to have this baby with you because our little bean, we made it together, in love “ his eyes shining with love and tears, as a few began their descent down his gorgeously olive complexed cheeks.
Caught in a moment, here with him, you couldn’t have asked for better; all you could do was barely squeak out a, “yes, I’ll marry you.” before his lips crashed into yours for a bruising kiss.
“Take me to bed and love me. Help remind me how me accidentally made our small bean.” you smirk.
Rami’s expression changed and you watched his eyes darkened with lust, biting his lip before a devilish smirk crossed his face.
“Oh I’ll certainly do that and more. I’m going to devour you.” he smirks before he lifts you up and throws you over his shoulder. Your screech of protest was swiftly quieted with a light tap to your ass, as you dissolved into a fit of giggles on your way to the bedroom.
Once your destination was reached he tossed you onto his bed.
“Baby if you think I was joking about devouring you, you are in for a special treat, because I meant it.” his eyes dark in the low light of the room, as he positioned his body between your thighs.
You let out a little moan of anticipation as his body moves to cover yours and his lips catch yours in a sweet kiss. His hands roaming every inch of your body as if it were the first time he’d ever felt your curves under him. Your shirt is hastily disposed of, followed quickly by your bra while his hands cup both your breasts and his thumbs gently tweak your nipples. His lips find that sweet spot on your neck which causes you to cry out and buck your jean clad hips into his, while he softly chuckled into your ear at your reaction to him.
His lips managing to find every sweet spot on your body before he finally reaches your hips. His grip releasing you as he works your jeans undone, and then slowly begins to slide them down your legs, along with your panties.
Squirming in anticipation of his next move you let out a loud whine because of his lack of attention to your body.
“So needy tonight aren’t you?” he teases as he pulls his shirt over his head and tosses it somewhere, his pants suffer a similar fate as his shirt did, but you could care less. The man you loved was completely bare in front of you, and you could spend hours just admiring his beautiful body.
“Always needy for you baby, always. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I used to touch myself to my thoughts of you.”
He raises a brow before his face split into a grin, as he roughly grabbed your hips and pulled your body closer to the edge of the bed. Placing your legs over his shoulders his face disappears between your thighs. You yelp in surprise as he nips at your thigh, and before you can say anything you feel his mouth on your clit.
You couldn’t help your reaction this time, as your hands came down to fist themselves in his hair, while his mouth continues to work your clit as a couple of his fingers find their way between your slick folds. Loudly moaning and rocking your hips against him desperately seeking more friction. His free hand lands on your hip to hold your hips steady as he continues his assault on your dripping pussy.
Tightening your grip on his hair as you feel your body speeding towards the orgasmic high you’ve been craving. The rush of endorphins, the sweet high of an orgasm, which is something only he has ever been able to give you. He was unaware of that fact but in your mind it further cemented the belief that the two of you were meant to be.
In mere minutes he had you completely undone, legs trembling against his shoulders as you came with a strangled cry of his name. Feeling his tongue lapping up all of your juices as if he were a starving man, and this was the first meal he’d had in ages.
Regaining coherent thought with still trembling legs you decide that you want to repay the favor.
“Rami love, come here, I want to suck you off. You’re amazing and I want to return the favor.”
“As much as I would love to let you do that my love, tonight, it’s about you and only you. Right now all I want is to bury myself in you, and watch your face and body come apart under me. It’s an extraordinary thing to watch and I want to relish in that pleasure.”
Whining you give in to his gentle touch as you lay back down for him. As common as it is, missionary is one of your favorite position with him because as much as he loves watching you come apart you love watching him.
His hands grip your hips a little more roughly than usual as he lines himself up with your entrance, he teases you with his tip before he fully seats himself in you. Your whines and moans are all the encouragement he needs as begins to move at a steady pace.
His fingers intertwined with yours as his thrusts become a little faster.
“Yesssss… yessssss… please baby.. Oh God.. don’t stop ...please … don’t stop… oh God… fuck... Rami… Rami…. I love you.. I love you… I love you… I love you….” became your mantra.
Bodies slick with sweat your eyes catch his, just holding his gaze as he moves within you.
Suddenly he leans forward and wraps his arms around you pulling your body to his chest as his thrusts increase in their intensity. Forehead to forehead your lips find each others as he swallows your moans and you swallow his. Feeling the beads of sweat running down between your bodies, breathing heavy as you feel the beginnings of another orgasm forming in the pit of your stomach.
Without warning your walls begin to clench around him, as you scream out his name over and over. His eyes screwed tightly shut you feel his hips begin to stutter, his beautiful mouth forming an ‘O’ shape as he empties himself within you.
His body relaxes as does yours, as he lands on the soft mattress beside you your body still pressed tightly to his with him still twitching inside of you and you still clenching around him.
Neither of you able to speak, you just enjoy the bliss of being tangled up together, you feel your eyelids start to droop as you rest your head on his chest. The still thundering sound of his heartbeat and his breathing soothing you into dreamland, while his fingers gently comb through your hair.
“I love you so much Y/N. I love you. I know you are falling asleep and this probably the worst time to tell you, but I know you are always inquisitive when I speak to you in arabic. Well I’m going to tell you now. Usually all I say is that I love you with all my heart, and that I wish you would let me love you forever, but I understood if you didn’t, so I’d let you use me as often and in whatever way you needed. I never want to see you unhappy so I’d do whatever I could to keep a smile on your face. My heart breaks for you every time you cry. But for now, please sleep and know that I’m here and I will do whatever I can to keep you safe.”
He knows you heard when he realizes that you fell into dreamland with a smile on your face and your face face nuzzled into his warm chest. Squeezing you tightly he breathes in the scent of you as he drifts off to sleep himself.

You got “Simple” by Florida Georgia Line, and I have like endless good memories with this song but I think I’ll say my favorite line is:
“Then I met you and you met me and all the rest is history, an epiphany that all we need is us”
put a “∞” in my ask box and I’ll shuffle my music player and give you my favorite lyric from the song that comes up.

(ALSO I LIKE THE WORK OF ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE AND YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY CHECK THEM OUT.)
I USED A FAIRLY SIMPLE METRIC.
EACH SONG WOULD BE GIVEN A RATING OF (12 - RANKING) POINTS, COUNTING A DISHONOURABLE MENTION AS 11, SO A SONG WOULD GET BETWEEN ONE AND ELEVEN POINTS.
ADDITIONALLY, FOR EACH TIME BEYOND THE FIRST THAT A SONG APPEARED ON A LIST PROPER (NOT COUNTING DISHONOURABLE MENTIONS; ONLY RANKINGS BETWEEN ONE AND TEN), IT WAS AWARDED A BONUS POINT - THE IDEA BEING THAT IF A SONG HAD MULTIPLE LOW-RANKING SLOTS, IT WAS PROBABLY WORSE THAN A SONG ONE PERSON PASSIONATELY HATED BUT NOBODY ELSE CARED ABOUT.
FINALLY, IF MULTIPLE SONGS WERE GIVEN A SLOT, THE POINTS WERE ALLOCATED TO EACH OF THEM, BECAUSE I FUCKING CAN. (THIS WORKED OUT WELL FOR CICABEOT1, WHO WAS THE ONLY CRITIC TO ACTUALLY INCLUDE AN “EVERYTHING BY THIS ARTIST” SLOT.)
NOW LET’S SEE HOW THE TOP TEN RESULTS WENT:
#10: MEANT TO BE, BEBE REXHA FT FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE (16 POINTS)
MARK GRONDIN: 3PTS
CICABEOT1: 5PTS
RADICAL DOUCHE: 6PTS
BONUS: 2PTS
I CAN NAME SEVERAL SONGS BY FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE THAT ACTUALLY CAUSED ME PHYSICAL PAIN. THIS ISN’T ONE OF THEM, BECAUSE THERE’S NOT ENOUGH OF IT THERE TO ACTUALLY HURT IN THE WAY THAT, FOR EXAMPLE, “THIS IS HOW WE ROLL” DOES. OH, AND I GUESS BEBE REXHA IS HERE TOO.
#9: YES INDEED, LITTLE BABY FT DRAKE (17PTS)
MR 96: 1PT
CICABEOT1: 6PTS
TODD: 9PTS
BONUS: 1PT
I’M UPSET. GIVING DRAKE ANOTHER HIT IS DISRESPECT. HE’S A JACKASS, OR DID EVERYONE FORGET? SOUNDS SO BORED, LIKE ALL HE CARES ABOUT IS CHEQUES. SORRY, I REALISE THAT’S A DIFFERENT BAD DRAKE SONG, BUT I WORKED ON THAT PARODY FOR AT LEAST FIVE MINUTES AND I DIDN’T WANT TO WASTE IT. THIS ACTUAL SONG IS A COMPLETELY DYSFUNCTIONAL MESS WITH HALF-FINISHED LYRICS. YES INDEED? MORE LIKE FUCK NO.
#8 (TIE): I FALL APART, POST MALONE (18PTS)
CICABEOT1: 8PTS
SPECTRUM PULSE: 9PTS
BONUS: 1PT
I DON’T KNOW WHY POST MALONE IS A THING, AND I LIKE MAYBE TWO SONGS BY HIM. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM.
#8 (TIE): GIRLS LIKE YOU, MAROON 5 FT CARDI B (18PTS)
MR 96: 6PTS
TODD: 11PTS
BONUS: 1PT
HONESTLY, CARING ENOUGH ABOUT ANY GIVEN MAROON 5 SONG TO HATE IT SEEMS LIKE A WASTE OF TIME AT THIS POINT. IT’S LIKE ORDERING A RESTAURANT CRITIC TO REVIEW CANNED BABY FOOD.
#6: ROLL IN PEACE, KODAK BLACK FT XXXTENTACION (19PTS)
MR 96: 8PTS
CICABEOT1: 10PTS
BONUS: 1PT
KODAK BLACK TRYING TO LAMENT THE DIFFICULTIES OF HIS LIFE WOULD BE FUNNY WERE IT NOT SO INFURIATING. AND HE’S JOINED BY XXXTENTACION, APPARENTLY BECAUSE WE NEEDED TO GET MORE ASSHOLES ON THIS SONG FOR SOME REASON.
#5: SAD!, XXXTENTACION (20PTS)
MR 96: 9PTS
CICABEOT1: 10PTS
BONUS: 1PT
GUILT-TRIPPING HORSESHIT FROM AN ARTIST WHOSE APPEAL I DON’T UNDERSTAND AND WHOSE CAREER LOOKS LIKE IT’S GOING TO BE LONGER POST-MORTEM THAN IT WAS WHILE HE WAS ALIVE. ALSO, THE TITLE READS LIKE A TRUMP TWEET, BECAUSE WHY NOT AT THIS POINT.
#4: CHANGES, XXXTENTACION (23PTS)
SPECTRUM PULSE: 4PTS
MR 96: 7PTS
CICABEOT1: 10PTS
BONUS: 2PTS
XXXTENTACION GOT A METRIC BUTTLOAD OF APPEARANCES ON THESE LISTS, AND WITH A DISCOGRAPHY LIKE HIS, IT’S NOT HARD TO SEE WHY. THE MUSICAL TRENDS IN 2018 WERE DOMINATED BY TIRESOME, MISOGYNISTIC SONGS THAT SOUNDED LIKE ASS AND WERE GENERALLY FROM PRETTY BAD PEOPLE, AND THEN THE WHOLE XXXTENTACION STORY ADDS A SORDID AND MONEY-GRUBBING EDGE FROM THE MUSIC EXECUTIVES ATTEMPTING TO PROFIT FROM EVERY HALF-FINISHED SCRAP OF MUSIC HE’D MADE. FUCK THIS YEAR AND FUCK THIS SONG.
#3: FEFE, 6IX9INE FT. NICKI MINAJ & MURDA BEATZ (24PTS)
MR 96: 5PTS
CICABEOT1: 7PTS
SPECTRUM PULSE: 10PTS
BONUS: 2PTS
THIS TRACK REEKS OF DESPERATION FROM EVERY CORNER, AND EVERYONE INVOLVED IN IT SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. I DO NOT EXPECT TO BE SAD SHOULD 6IX9INE NEVER BE SEEN AGAIN, AND THAT SEEMS LIKE A VERY REAL POSSIBILITY GIVEN HIS LEGAL SITUATION. ABOUT THE ONLY PARTICIPANT I FEEL BAD FOR IS THE DOG IN THE MUSIC VIDEO. GO FOR THE THROAT, GIRL.
#2: TE BOTE, TODO EL MUNDO FT TODOS LOS DEMAS (28PTS)
CICABEOT1: 1PT
SPECTRUM PULSE: 7PTS
RADICAL DOUCHE: 8PTS
MR 96: 10PTS
BONUS: 2PTS
BECAUSE I DON’T GET MUCH LATIN POP, I HAD NO IDEA THIS EVEN EXISTED UNTIL THE LISTS STARTED GOING UP. I AM SORT OF SAD THAT I DO NOT GET TO KEEP MY IGNORANCE ON THE SUBJECT. NOT PARTICULARLY GOOD REGGAETON FEATURING MULTIPLE ANNOYING ARTISTS THAT IS LONGER THAN BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (THE MOVIE, NOT THE SONG). ALSO, IF YOU REMADE BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (THE SONG) ON TWO VUVUZELAS WITH LYRICS BY YOUR DRUNKEN COLLEGE FRIENDS SINGING ALONG THAT TIME IT CAME ON THE RADIO, IT WOULD PROBABLY SOUND BETTER THAN THIS.
(ALSO, I DON’T SPEAK SPANISH, SO IF THAT TRANSLATION OF “EVERYBODY FT EVERYBODY ELSE” IS INACCURATE, BLAME GOOGLE TRANSLATE!)
#1: FREAKY FRIDAY, LIL DICKY FT CHRIS BROWN (32PTS)
CICABEOT1: 1PT
MR 96: 1PT
TODD: 8PTS
RADICAL DOUCHE: 9PTS
SPECTRUM PULSE: 11PTS
EVERYONE AT LEAST MENTIONED THIS, AND MORE THAN HALF GAVE IT HIGH POSITIONS ON THE FULL LIST, AND GIVEN THAT THIS SONG IS SINGULARLY EXECRABLE IT’S NOT HARD TO SEE WHY. IF THIS WAS JUST BAD COMEDY, THAT WOULD BE ONE THING, BUT IT’S EXCRUCIATINGLY BAD COMEDY BACKED UP BY GASLIGHTING BULLSHIT ABOUT HOW GREAT IT IS TO BE CHRIS BROWN.
ALSO, I DON’T KNOW WHY ED SHEERAN AND DJ KHALED ARE IN THIS ONE. GUYS. GUYS. YOU ARE SUPERSTARS. YOU HAVE HAD SO MANY THINGS GO PLATINUM THAT I WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED TO FIND AMESTRIS ON YOUR TRAVEL PLANS. YOU DO NOT NEED TO SHOW UP ON SHIT LIKE THIS TO STAY RELEVANT.
FUCK THIS YEAR, AND FUCK THIS SONG.

I admire the happy-go-lucky approach the duo brings to the table on this record, but the annoyingly simplistic lyrics, basic song structures, and horrible skits make this LP a tough listen.

Look What You Made Me Do: A Song Review
Some things only come around every couple years. The Olympics, for example, or a good modern episode of The Simpsons. Something else you rarely get? A pop song that’s so bad, so inept in every way, that it demands review. Joining the ranks of songs like “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line and “Marvin Gaye” by Charlie Puth, we have Taylor Swift’s newest single “Look What You Made Me Do,” an absolute train wreck of a song that also serves as an absolutely brutal self-inflicted third degree burn.
Looking back, 1989 really was a better album than I gave it credit for. Serving as a culmination of her morph from country to country-pop to synth pop, she managed to expertly combine a songwriter’s touch to great pop hooks, which while giving us awful songs like “Bad Blood,” also gave us songs like “Blank Space” and “Style,” some of the best pop songs of the last five years. Most notably, the album marked Swift erasing half of her “country songwriter” history, removing the country almost entirely from her music, even if before it was mostly just some mandolin in the background. “Look What You Made Me Do” feels like the next logical step, seeing as how it seems like she’s removed the songwriter part as well.
youtube
Christ, where to begin. How about the chorus, which feels like someone told the producer what a chorus is, and he proceeded to make the opposite. Taking a sample from “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred, it stops the song dead in its tracks, instead of bringing it to the next level like a pop chorus should. The rest of the song is just as disjointed, with a simple main verse going into a pre-chorus with a straight up ugly vocal melody, along with a bridge that sounds like if Peaches decided to remove her wit and charm. The song as a whole is just unappealing from a musical standpoint. I saw a lot of comparisons from this song and “Swish Swish” by Katy Perry, in terms of pop princesses aiming for more of an electroclash sound, but that song at least had a flow to it, instead of throwing random sonic elements together. Also, there’s no line in this song as good as Nicki Minaj’s “offset/Offset” couplet. And speaking of lyrics…
There’s no getting around this being Swift’s pettiest song. And she’s been writing songs since she was a teenage girl. The song’s pretty clearly about Kanye West and that line from “Famous,” the one where Taylor was caught on tape lying about not being briefed about the lyric. The entire song sounds like a high school sophomore trying to sound tough, with lyrics about “having your name in red underlined” and being “the actress starring in your bad dreams.” And that’s without going into the middle eight being so absolutely awful it turns into second-hand embarrassment. Taylor Swift is 27. She is the same age as Adele, and she still has the same mentality as a fifteen year old writing a call-out Tumblr post about her friends.
There’s a lot more I could go into surrounding the song and Taylor herself. I could talk about her consistency with self-victimization. I could talk about her scamming teenage girls out of money through her ticket distribution strategy. I could talk about her using a line regularly used by abusers as her chorus. I could talk about her releasing this song on the anniversary of the death of Kanye’s mother, which is tasteless even if it wasn’t intended. But that’s not what matters in this review. What matters is that the song is abysmal, an absolute wreck of bad music and worse lyrics. It only makes me more anticipated for Reputation, since I can only hope it’s as terrible throughout as this song.

Just as easy as can be
Just the way you look at me

Artist Spotlight: Nightspring
The music scene is full of plentiful talent across the pop punk spectrum, however Nightspring are much more than that. The band hailing from Brisbane, Australia brings a mixed bag of sounds to the table. The five person band consisting of Michael Hermon (Vocals), Myles Vele (Vocals/Bass), Alex Woolard (Guitar), and Matthew Barkmeyer (Drums) recently released “Surrender” followed by debut album “Reflections”; a six track EP full of emotion. I sat down with the boys of Nightspring to discuss their success throughout 2019, the best tracks for newcomers, and of course their new album ‘Reflections.’
More Than A Millennial: 2019 saw the release of latest Ep ‘Reflections’. How does the music making process come about, and what inspires you in the songwriting process?
Michael: Our process has always been a bit weird, purely because we all have such conflicting schedules for the moment and don’t always have time to write together. It tends to start off with Myles writing anything from a simple seed idea to randomly showing up with a whole song already mapped out. We’ll add it to the band Dropbox and chat about it, then him and I will usually get together to work on lyrics and vocals. After that, it’s just the job of getting everyone’s parts recorded. Hopefully things will become a lot more organic in the future as we all get used to our individual writing styles.
Myles: Yeah, we’re definitely not a band that works like the old-school model of sit in a room and jam it out until you find something you like. I think that kind of mentality when it comes to writing songs like Sydney is admirable to anyone who can pick things up quickly without any real idea of where a song is going!
More Than A Millennial: The music you make embraces writing from real experiences and feelings ‘Surrender’ in particular sounds like it was a personal story. Do you find creating music easier drawing from your own lives, making it a free flowing procedure?
Michael: Surrender is definitely inspired by a personal story, it was something that happened to me a few years back. I told Myles about it and he got inspired by it I guess! In regards to drawing from real experiences, 100% easier. Every song off of Reflections was inspired by real things we’ve been through, so it adds a level of reality to the messages we’re trying to share.
Myles: Surrender is strange to me because I don’t really remember writing the lyrics so much as the instruments. I was listening to a lot of Don Broco, Muse and Limp Bizkit at the time, so instrumentally, the bass was a big factor in shaping that song. But I must say, it was super fun to experiment with how we’d lyrically showcase the personal experience through the chorus. Some of those lyrics in Surrender are some of my favourite we’ve written just because of their quotable nature.
More Than A Millennial: Who influences your style of music, is there a particular artist who inspires you all individually or as a group?
Myles: I would say there’s no particular sound that influences us, more so common bands that we listen to but don’t really aim to sound like.
Michael: We all have wildly diverse tastes in music, from metal to country to K-Pop, but I think if we all had to narrow it down, I'd probably say we’re all inspired by Linkin Park and Hands Like Houses. Our vocal inspirations tend to be very different from instrumentals though.
Myles: One hundred percent. Where we get vocal inspiration can range from a specific style to a vowel pronunciation from a specific artist, album or even song! Instrumentally, it’s just looking for something fun, be it bouncy, catchy or dramatic. That kind of unbound creativity was definitely from watching the making of Linkin Park’s Minutes to Midnight documentary one too many times.
More Than A Millennial: If you had to play a newcomer a Nightspring song to introduce them to the band, which song would you pick?
Michael: Oh man, either ‘Sydney’ or ‘Goodnight’ I think! Goodnight displays our poppier side the most and Sydney the heavier side we seem to be naturally moving towards, those seem to both be favourites at the moment for their relative dichotomy.
More Than A Millennial: A lot of musicians have recently talked about how streaming services pay very little to featured artists on their platform – what is your take on the situation? And what is the best way to support an artist in this digital age?
Myles: I think Spotify is the current trend of the music industry to evaluate an artist’s worth, which is ironic considering how little the direct return an artist gets from it is. However, I do think that from a consumer to company perspective, it does make a lot of sense how little artists receive as listeners don’t actually purchase nor own that music they listen to. It’s basically a modern-day online Blockbuster, or Video Ezy for those old enough to know what that is.
More Than A Millennial: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, and who was it from?
Michael: Something along the lines of ‘Sometimes you’re going to fail ten times before you succeed once, you’ve just got to make sure you keep pushing through those ten times to reach the successes’. That was Josh Ramsay from Marianas Trench after a show once. Always stuck with me.
Myles: Indirectly, ‘Love keeps us kind’ from the LInkin Park song The Messenger. Those are four impactful words to incorporate into your day to day life.
More Than A Millennial: In the last 12 months, what would you say was Nightspring’s biggest achievements?
Myles: Probably self-producing our EP. I can definitely hear things that I would change now, but if you’d have told me after ‘Looking Back’ that we’d be crazy enough to do this when we’re trying to establish ourselves strongly in the Brisbane rock scene, I’d have said it’d never happen!
Michael: It was a pretty uneventful year musically for us. ‘Reflections’ was definitely the biggest part of our year, as well as playing our first show at the premiere of a TV series. 2020 is set for much bigger achievements, I think.
More Than A Millennial: If you could put on a festival with your dream line up who would headline, and what would the theme be?
Michael:I’d annoy a lot of people and do a country festival on one stage with Sam Hunt, Florida Georgia Line and Dan + Shay, and a rock festival on the other stage with Hands Like Houses, One OK Rock and Avenged Sevenfold. See how delightfully that goes down :’)
Myles: Let’s be honest, I’d be similar and have a “levels to a mosh pit” themed festival and have a single line up with Ed Sheeran, Mike Shinoda, Stray Kids, You Me At Six, Hands Like Houses, Our Last Night and Parkway Drive! Headliner would have definitely been Linkin Park.
More Than A Millennial: With 2020 being a new decade, how will Nightspring evolve?
Myles: Oh man, in so many ways. We definitely want to not just be a band, but a broader family within the music and local community. I personally have a dream to really get into some charitable stuff like getting out on the streets and helping those in need or running fundraising events for some really cool causes through the band. The music really is just the tip of the iceberg for the kind of group Nightspring wants to evolve into, I think.
Michael: We’re always evolving, to be honest. Even in the year and a half since we released our debut single ‘Looking Back’ we’re a completely different band, so that’s a definite yes I think to evolving.
More Than A Millennial: What would be the absolute dream goal to achieve in the future? And where can our readers follow your musical journey and hopefully see you perform live?
Michael: We’re very much a band that looks to the foreseeable future first and foremost, so playing a festival Like Good Things would be an awesome achievement.
Myles: I think it’d be fair to aspire to play Good Things in Brisbane. But playing any sort of national tour beyond just the east coast would be mental.
