Shoutweb: I guess we should start with your involvement in "Strait Up", the tribute to Lynn Strait. Dez: That came out incredible. A lot of respect to everybody who put in and made it happen. I was glad to be a part of it. Lynn was just a charismatic, energetic, great, artist-to-the-bone guy. They sent me this track. They said, "We're going to send you kind of our punk rock track" which was cool because I grew up on that. When I got it, it came out natural. I went into the studio, took off my shoes, drank a little bit of wine with everybody and the track flowed straight out of me. That's usually how I like to write the best tracks. No paper and pen and just let it come. I really think that I was speaking to Lynn and he was kind of coming through me too. Shoutweb: Do you have a favorite memory of Lynn? Dez: It would have to be the toilet bowl. Him, naked, on the toilet bowl at Ozzfest would have to be a favorite memory. As well as he and I getting our hands tattooed at the same time. On my left hand, Paul Booth did a mechanical pumpkin. I believe it was on his right hand that he got a skull. Paul Booth did both of ours the same day sitting backstage together at the Ozzfest. We were kicking back and reveling in all that is rock and roll glory - being able to get tattooed on tour by a famous artist like Paul. I've got a lot of really cool memories of that guy. Gone way too early but the magic is that this has been done for him.
