SHOWDOWN SPOTLIGHT #1

hey its metal and welcome to showdown spotlight! these will not be done regularly at all but as i brainstorm what i want this project to even. Be more i thought id just post some behind the scenes snippets to that ppl got a clearer idea of what im workin with here. heres a bunch of details from the outline doc; namely episode titles, the final teams, and most exciting of all,,challenge ideas!!! woo!!!

the show being contestant vote (the contestants eliminate each other instead of the viewers voting on it like an object show) means i have Complete And Total Control and i can plan out all the story beats and character developments and whatnot without worrying about something going awry because everybody decided to vote out a character i was building something with LMAO. that means i have a lot of neat ideas like this in storage i can dig up and fall back on!

ive not decided a set order i wanna do these challenges in. i keep goin back and forth on all of them because GODD theyre so fun they sound so fun to just write and do and AGHGHHGH i just wanna get this thing out there somehow even though i know like 2 people are gonna care. its MY BIRTHDAY PARTY and I GET TO PICK THE HYPERFIXATION

anyway, onto the teams. when i was working on deciding the teams i wanted them all to have kinda a "Thing". in my head it was like...Franklin is all the, in my eyes, "fan favorite" sims (and also chaz.) besides cassandra those are all characters that have appeared in multiple games and have a decent following from what i know. dj candy and violet appear in Every Fucking Game theyve earned this. Eureka is the goofy wildcard team, a bunch of characters that dont really fit together trying to make it work!! and then The Uhhhh is the result of morcubus trying to make a team out of morcucorp operatives but yuki gets distracted and leaves for another team because she ate the fuckgn contract and therefore doesnt remember signing up to work with morcubus, and theyre left with the fuckin. table crumbs nobody else wanted LOL. poor lyndsay

curating the cast of showdown was really tough because i had to leave out a lot of my fav sims, like summer, beebee, mel, nichole, sapphire, rosalyn--and i know ppl are gonna be questioning why some iconic sims like travis arent here. like bro I only have half of the royal academy on the show thats wild LMAO.

truth be told, 24 contestants is not ENOUGH to represent the love i have for these characters, but the 24 i picked id say strike a good balance between MY personal favorites and generally beloved sims. u may notice i try to address this by having some of these characters play significant roles in challenges!! and i hope that strikes a good balance :)

showdown still has a long way to go and im not totally sure if itll be more than just an idea rn, but im loving working on it and i hope i can get it out there one day!! if ur one of the aforementioned 2 people reading this then thank u very much and i hope u have an awesome day

Day 8 of Crona’s April CAS Challenge!

I hope this posts on time + I’ve skipped a few days bc my sims didn’t come out the way I’ve wanted them to with the stuff I have but I was really looking forward to this day. I was debating on making a brand new pair of twin sims but I also wanted to bring back a set of twins that I grew really fond of. I decided to revamp them & give them a whole new life so here we go!

𝙽𝚢𝚕𝚊 [𝚜𝚑𝚎/𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚢] & 𝙻𝚢𝚗𝚍𝚜𝚊𝚢 𝙱𝚎𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚐𝚎𝚛 [𝚊𝚗𝚢 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚗𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚜]

Coming from a line of fairy elves that are more physically superior than humans (have an easier time doing physical activities than regular humans such as being able to run longer distances without tiring, climb and swim for hours without breaking much of a sweat, stronger naturally in general, etc) Nyla is someone who easily fits the bill.

You’ll always find her in the smallest, tightest & girliest little dresses with heels to match (and yes, she’s always ready to party) so you might think she’s always just got off the latest catwalk, too busy to care for the average person but it’s actually quite the opposite. Nyla has a huge passion for her little plants.

Most people actually stumble across Nyla crouched down and poking at dirt. People often come up to her with concern as it’s an odd site to see someone all dolled up & playing in the dirt but, if you were to ask her if she’s okay, she’s passionately tell you about the plant she’s trying to save at the moment.

Nyla loves the outdoors. She gets sad if she’s cooped up for too long. Her favorite color is purple and she has an obsession with butterflies. You’ll usually find her tending her garden, in greenhouses checking out the latest plants, in fields watching the butterflies or letting loose and enjoying a party.

She has a good heart and is very outgoing. She also enjoys being physically active and loves involving herself in charity work. She can hide her wings if needed but she takes pride in them and enjoys having them on full display. Overall, she loves being able to be out there in the world, waiting to stumble on her next adventure & Lyndsay…

“Can we go home yet?” is something you’d commonly hear out of the younger sister’s mouth. If it wasn’t for how my Nyla mentioned her sister, you probably wouldn’t realize that Nyla had a sister at all. A twin sister at that.

Although their species have a physical advantage over humans, you wouldn’t really be able to tell that observing Lyndsay. Lyndsay never really preformed well doing physical activities and much prefers to stay inside. She’s a geek and really good when it comes to tech stuff. She’s a huge gamer and does all her stuff online so she doesn’t have a real reason to get out much but when she does, you’d probably hear her grumbling about how she “has an event to grind” or how she “should have stayed home anyways.”

She hates wearing heeled anything (minus her favorite boots) and hates wearing anything too revealing. You’d usually find her in a baggy hoodie and cargo pants at home lounging around. You wouldn’t think these two were related by how polar opposite they were but they’re twin sisters for a reason.

Although the two are insanely different, they value each other like no other. Where one lacks in an area, the other makes up for it. They’re one killer team and no matter their differences, they always know that they have each other at the end. They have immense love for each other and know each other’s strengths/ weaknesses so they always know how to boost each other up in situations. Wherever one goes, the other is always soon to follow. You can’t separate these two little peas in a pod. They’ll always find a way to get back to each other.

Downtownies # 17 - Demeter - Wk 16

Demeter earned a badge in Robotics, later that night she lost her baby. So sad since she and Bruce were looking forward to being parents.

Both Demeter and Bruce rolled odds and aged to Elder.

I made the mistake of leting my Sims do what they want to improve their moods. Listen up, Demeter and Bruce, getting abducted IS NOT a mood improver.

Demeter asked her friend, Lyndsay Louie to move in.

All three household members helped the neighborhood strays get a little smarter over the course of the week.

Nice typo. I'm gonna have to clip down my nails one of these days. Getting where I have to type with my fingernails instead of my fingers.

Both Bruce and Demeter are doing well in their pregnancies.

Hello, Have you heard of MySims, the spinoff series to The Sims? I would love to see you draw Buddy and Lyndsay.

Sorry, I never even played the Sims, or MySims. I appreciate you asking, but I'm kinda burned-out lately, and not drawing too much. I'm trying to finish up some personal stuff right now, and that's taking up all my effort/time

I also watched your video and agree 1000% on every point. I'm an extreme introvert and want nothing to do with a social-based game. Especially if thy're trying to draw in the Minecraft etc. crowd. I'm a grown-ass adult and don't want to have to engage with kids to enjoy Sims. When I told my husband about it he said "they're going to add loot boxes" 🤣 And the possibilty that they might restrict CC to their "official" platform (and require it to be family friendly) is infuriating in so many ways.

Lyndsay said CC wouldn't be restricted to just Curse Forge, and that people could still post wherever they wanted...but they said they wouldn't make packs that required other packs too...and that happened so...

Not sure what they could do to stop us from posting wherever we want though. The internet is a big place.

Sims Dump #10

This will be the last Sim Dump for a bit as I'm going back to work soon. Ah, the fresh new school year. I'm almost done with cleaning out the old unused CC. I had so much and realized it's definitely hard to let go of some of the content. But alas, it has to be done.

If you have downloaded any of my Sims, you will need to update all of the eyelashes. When I zipped all the files it was before the new update. It's just an easy fix. Some of the lashes do still work but if you want them to be in the eyelash category, you will need to update them.

Evelyn Gray

An actress who got the role due to a mistake in the casting list - now-a-days there is a mistake if she isn't on the casting list. Femme fatal however, she averts the stereotype of being deceitful and untrustworthy by becoming a close friend and ally to your character in the game.

Evelyn Gray is a mysterious woman in a long red dress and red hair. She gives the player their first real case as an agent; a house robbery. Evelyn has been searching for the truth about her father, who has disappeared for a long time, and hopes to find him someday and reunite with him. She decides to ask the player for help after her home was ransacked.Her profile was copied from the official MySims Agents website; it came with spelling and grammar mistakes. A beautiful and mysterious woman evelyn shows up at the agency to give you your first official case. it sounds like a routine robbery at first, but there could be more to this case than she's telling you.

Madison Gray

Madison Gray was supposed to be in MySims Agents (since a dialogue icon was made for her) but was removed for some reason. All that is known about her is that she was meant to be Evelyn Gray's twin sister and Michael Gray's daughter. Nothing else is known about Madison Gray.

After loosing her job with the Alto's film company, she disappears into the underworld and becomes an addict.

A brasilian man.

Michael Gray, commonly known as King Mike or Mike, is a crazy man who greets the player upon entering the Jungle Temple. He makes nonsensical gibberish and seems to have a wild imagination. When the player, Buddy, Evelyn Gray, and Lyndsay enter the temple, Mike believes them to be some imaginary friends he has conjured up from his craziness. After he attempts to run away, the player attempts to track him down, hoping he might have clues as to where the Crown of Nightmares is in the temple. tracking down Mike and getting the Nightmare Crown, it is revealed that Mike is Evelyn's father. After getting him out of the temple, he will offer to be a potential recruit for the Sim Protection Agency. Mike has a lot of friends. That is, if you count coconuts as friends. He rules over them with a kind, but firm hand. All hail King Mike!

Morcubus

An actor who wants to be seen as scary and mysterious like his colleague Evelyn Gray, but really doesn't have the heart to hurt a fly. Morcubus is a very evil Sim. He is a deadly sorcerer bent on possessing the knowledge of all EVIL! But in reality, he's not nearly as bad as he says he is. Throughout the MySims series, Morcubus serves as a typical resident, a transportation advisor[1], a minigame host, and as a major antagonist. Morcubus is a wicked and sly man. He claims to be the master of darkness and all of the Spooky Sims. Beyond time and space there is a world of black fire. From the heart of this maelstrom of horrors was born the abhorrent Morcubus, prince of monsters, a being who inhales joy and breathes out pure terror! … He's actually a pretty good guy, once you get to know him.

Does annoying dramatic speeches: "I am the terrible Morcubus! Does my awesome presence not make you quake?"

The Sims 5 vice president 'definitely wants to introduce multiplayer'

We've finally heard some more news concerning The Sims 5, and it sounds like you'll finally be able to play with your friends. 

While mods in The Sims 4 and The Sims 2 support some kind of multiplayer, there has been no official support in the most recent Sims game to allow you to play with your friends properly. However, it looks like this is about to change in The Sims 5.

In a segment on Radio Time's One More Life gaming podcast, Lyndsay Pearson, the vice president of franchise creative on The Sims 5, talked about the future of multiplayer.

"We definitely want to introduce multiplayer," Pearson said on the podcast. "And not multiplayer in the big, scary 'jump in a world full of strangers' kind of way[...] Because playing together can look like so many different things, right? Even in our chat now, we've talked about, like, trivia games to fighting games to racing games; playing together and social can mean so many things."

Pearson goes on to explain how Animal Horizon: New Horizons has been discussed by the developers as it's such a fantastic example of a multiplayer game. "People are inventing ways to play together that the game doesn't specifically support, but they've made up scavenger hunts or whatever, which is amazing," Pearson said. 

But it's not just Animal Crossing; Among Us has also been a talking point thanks to its unique mystery-solving premise and how players interact within it. There are so many ideas flying around at the moment, but the most important thing is that no matter what the end product is, it must feel "Sims-y." 

No matter what the end product looks like, it's just exciting to see a new chapter unfold for The Sims 5, along with new ways to enjoy everything on offer with friends

Sims 5 Devs 'Talk About Animal Crossing All the Time' While Crafting Multiplayer

Over the past year or so, Maxis has slowly revealed more details on The Sims 5, which is currently called Project Rene. One of these details has been that it'll have multiplayer, although the team hasn't quite hinted at what this might look like until recently.

Yesterday, in an interview on Radio Times' One More Life podcast, Vice President of Franchise Creative Lyndsay Pearson discussed the inspirations behind Project Rene's in-progress multiplayer feature, citing two (very different) games in particular.

Pearson mentioned that The Sims developers "talk about Animal Crossing all the time, because it is such a good example of my little space, my little island, but I can invite you over."

"And we've seen throughout the last few years of Animal Crossing, people inventing ways to play together that the game doesn't specifically support, but they've made up scavenger hunts or whatever, which is amazing. Or people who hosted talk shows on Animal Crossing, I think, is incredible, right?"

Briefly shown off during the Behind the Sims livestream in October 2022, players will be able to decorate spaces collaboratively and then share them online. It's still unclear if players will be able to place their Sims in someone else's build like in Animal Crossing.

While Animal Crossing: New Horizons might seem like an obvious inspiration choice, Pearson also cited Among Us as another one of the games they're looking at, pointing toward its collaborative mystery-solving as a "clever" way to incorporate multiplayer.

Pearson noted that the studio is still exploring different options and figuring out exactly how multiplayer will work, although she reaffirmed the studio's previous announcement that Project Rene will not be an MMO.

"We definitely want to introduce multiplayer," Pearson said. "And not multiplayer in the big, scary 'jump in a world full of strangers' kind of way. But literally, how do you and your friends want to do some play together?"

Maxis has largely kept the game under wraps since its announcement last October, although we did get a look at its detailed furniture customization and its cross-platform play during a short teaser. After some speculation, EA also confirmed that the game will be free to download and won't replace The Sims 4.

Sammie loved living off the land. When he had met his birth family as a teenager, he was taken in by the Zarros and given a large, lavish life. But, it was so far from what he was used to. In adulthood, he’d bought a small cottage on the outskirts of Pleasantview and survived on his own. He fished, carved tools, sewed his own clothes, and more.

Additionally, he began dating a nice woman named Lyndsay who also had a penchant for the outdoors. The two soon moved in together and started a tiny home business on the land.

Sammie spent most of his time fishing in the lake while Lyndsay created delicious recipes from the wild fish.

“I know we’re supposed to be selling your wild caught delicacies, but surely we can just snack on one,” Sammie said, practically drooling as he entered the kitchen. “Or twenty.” “Yeah, sure,” said Lyndsay. “That’ll be $9.99.” “Very funny,” said Sammie.

After a few meals were prepared, Sammie brought the fish out to the tiny store and placed them in the refrigerated shelves. The store brought people from all over Sim City, and soon became a seriously popular tourist destination for Pleasantview!

“Have you considered selling filets or uncooked fish?” a customer asked one afternoon. “I’d love to buy a whole rainbow trout for my husband.” “That’s a great idea!” Sammie said. “And as a loyal customer, you’ll definitely be the first to know when we expand the business.”

Running the fish shop was hard work, but it was a labor of love. And every evening, Sammie and Lyndsay got to spend cuddled up in bed, exhausted from the day, but satisfied with their shop, and each other.

And then Grim showed up for another chicken, because OF COURSE HE DID. *sigh* Seriously, I thought we were past the days of chicken death! I guess this one aged up while I wasn’t looking...kind of a good argument as to why the group SHOULDN’T make friends with their chickens -- it’d hurt too much every time Grim showed up!

Anyway, as the chicken went to the big barnyard in the sky, Victor had lunch, Smiler uploaded their confident vlog and tended Snappy, their Sixam Mosquito trap plant, and Alice did some meditation under her crystal collection in the seance room to lower her Fury. All pretty standard stuff for this lot --

Which meant it was time for a change! And, as we visited Moonwood Mill last time to allow Alice to do some werewolf things, I decided THIS time, the gang should visit the Magic Realm to allow Victor to do some spellcaster things! Victor took the shortcut there with his Glimmerstone, then used the magic of “Bring [Sim Name] Here” to get Smiler and Alice to join him. XD After a failed attempt on my part to find a better Magic HQ to plop down on the lot (the Gallery was not cooperating at ALL), I sent Victor to start practicing alchemy -- after all, he has a cauldron at home, and all these magical ingredients, so he really ought to DO something with them! Alice, still feeling a little Furious, transformed and did zoomies across the entire realm to calm herself down -- though for some reason, when she turned wolfy this time, she didn’t have her tail! O.o Not sure what’s going on there. . .I’ll have to check that in CAS at some point in the future. And Smiler did a tour of the realm in their bat form, going around investigating all the frog logs and such -- they got a Surfer Leaf frog, a Spotted Leaf frog, a Striped Dirt frog, and a Lyndsay MySim figurine. Not a bad haul! And I spotted a detail I’d never noticed before about the Realm while tracking them -- there’s a little graveyard tucked away on a lower bit of the main island! All overgrown, with a mix of magical and regular graves. A result of the Realm getting ripped to pieces, I presume. Interesting stuff!
