Summary: After her first day in New Amsterdam, Luna meets Reynold’s daughter: Doctor Linett Malvo.

Luna relaxed over the railing, her back hurting but not as much as her feet after having been running around the hospital the entirety of her first day as Medical Director.

The orange line in the horizon told her what time it was, more or less, and the chilly wind that surrounded her accompanied the environment. She wondered if her mum had ever been up there, watching a horizon so beautiful, or dancing over those old tiles on the floor, making time for her dad to finish tearing New Amsterdam down in time to build it up again. 

A hand reached to her necklace at the thought, one of her fingers catching the ring that she wore every day since she was eighteen. One of the pair that her parents exchanged in their wedding, the one her father had kept even after he stopped wearing it a long time after her mum passed away.

“You found your father’s secret spot,” a voice took Luna out of her mind and made her turn around, watching the white coat that joined her on the rooftop.

“Excuse me?” She had seen the younger woman in the Head of Departments’ meeting at six, but they hadn’t had the chance to properly be introduced before the Head of Cardiology had to run because of an emergency.

“Oh, sorry,” the other doctor chuckled, walking to stand next to her. “My father worked here in New Amsterdam. Well, actually both my fathers. And my mother too.” She took her hands out of the pockets of her coat and placed them on the railing. “But my father, Floyd, he never shuts up about this Max Goodwin who fired his entire department on his first day ruling the hospital.”

Luna smiled because she remembered the same story but told from his father’s point of view. “A department that now you rule, Doctor Malvo,” she pointed out.

The other doctor turned with a small smile. “You can call me Linett. Our fathers were basically family.”

“Well, Linett. In case you don’t know, my father told me this story about this cool surgeon who made an aortic valve replacement on a beating heart. And who also made me miss the mermaid parade, by the way.”

Linett laughed. “I hope it was worth it.”

“Oh, I hope so.” Luna chuckled, “I spent my tantrum sleeping under a table in the ER’s office.”

Luna’s smile met Linett’s. “So you know who I am, then.”

“When I read you had moved all the way from Colorado to work here,” Luna explained, “I knew there was a story. And I wanted to know it.”

“I wanted to meet my father, and my aunts. My step-siblings, and my father’s wife,” Linett shared. “These last three years have been like a dream, getting to know all my family and spending time with them.”

“While you run the most important department in the country’s first public hospital,” Luna added. “Wait, choosing your mother’s name was a way to get a new plate on your office’s door?”

I’m really hoping Floyd is not the father of this baby, so he can drop Lyn and move on with his life, and we can just forget this nightmare ever happened.

Floyd deserves so much better than someone else’s wife, and she isn’t even planning to divorce her husband???WTH?!

Floyd and Lyn ending up like they did makes me angry as hell. Literally what was the reason. Lyn has all the hallmarks of a perfect love interest but they went and threw this husband crap in the way and now the baby too. I hope it isn’t Floyd’s because it looks like for now, he’s stepping away from their arrangement and I’m all for that. He needs to go talk to his strict ass mama and get his head on straight because he’s going through something and it’s getting ridiculous. He’s grown. I never saw it for him and Evie(the Lauren part of that relationship never sat right with me)but this Lyn thing is torture. They need to give him a chill wife like Martin and move on from his hellish dating life, it’s been time.

I hate Lyn. I thought I could be somewhat objective and watch this situation and comment with nuance but I can't stand her and Floyd is pissing me off too. Like what the hell was that the last episode? I KNOW why he did it but I'm tired of him and his situationship. He should have kept his ass in the west coast.

New Amsterdam Thought Dump by Couple

Floyd/Lyn: I'm really curious about Lyn's husband will really react. I mean, their original arrangement involved having relationships while one or the other was out of town. This is a full blown second relationship that Lyn has now. And it's the first time she's ever even acted on the agreement. Assuming her husband has at most just had a few flings while they were apart, this could bring up some feelings. Or he could be completely fine with it all and have no issues. No idea. I just want it to happen already!

Leyren: Whew, these two are so cute and in love and happy and I just know it will all come crashing down as soon as Leyla finds out that her residency position was a bribe. Their whole relationship feels like a rubber band being pulled more and more and I'm waiting for it to snap! Outside of the fact that Leyla will question herself and her skills as a doctor at every turn, knowing will be a legal burden as well. If she doesn't tell Max/The Board and someone else finds out, she'll be trouble just like Bloom! She would have to convince everyone that she had no knowledge of the bribe. Even if they believe her, she might still lose her license. And Lauren would go straight to damn jail! If she finds out and chooses to keep quiet (or lie to cover for Lauren in the case that someone else finds out), then she has to live with that and forever look over her shoulder. And what if this makes Lauren relapse?! This whole damn thing has me STRESSED!!!

Sharpwin: I feel for both of them, I really do. Helen is looking for that security from a partner. She wants to find herself again and knows that means going back London but doesn't want to sacrifice this love with Max to do it. She knew he was anchored to New Amsterdam but the high of Max being Max and his plan to just uproot and move with/for her was too much for her NOT to get swept up in it all. And Max having to see how easy it is to reverse any positive change he's worked so hard to make with a change of the guard and (literal and figurative) coat of paint has to be majorly disheartening. Helen needs to work out her insecurity and abandonment issues in therapy. She needs to have a long and extremely open conversation with her mom (who also needs to heal). All of this needs to happen at home in London and it all will take time. Max needs to see that the change that matters more is in the people he inspires. We've already seen that policies can be reversed and changed for the worse. But I think if he sees the people he has changed that will in turn change others and hopefully help change policies and practices, he will feel a lot better about leaving. I do think he needs a break from the hospital to just live a little. That's what feeds his empathy and understanding of day to day life for the masses which feeds back into helping others again. I think they'll make it to London but I think Max will end up coming back without Helen.

TL;DR, they all finna break up!

I’m loving the storyline they have created between Helen and Lyn, Floyd and Leyla, i wish we could see more of these working together.

Also I love the way Max always would risk everything to protect people like what he did at the cafeteria to protect the immigrants from ICE.

To be honest these 35 minutes of episode have been really good im enjoying the whole plot of doctors working together. Love to see Helen and Max, Max and Lauren, Leyla and Floyd and Malvo with Helen and loving that they giving Nurse B more screen time.

Watching her, I could almost believe that she had first hand knowledge of what her character was facing, that she knew the fear and…

I’m actually so excited for season 4. I know that there’s probs gonna be angst between Lauren and Leyla over whatever Lauren did to get Leyla a place at the hospital. But I also think there’s gonna be so much cool stuff. Like we’re probs gonna learn more about Leyla’s backstory and we’ll see Leyla interacting with the other characters in the hospital Like Casey!!! Imagine scenes with Leyla and Casey interacting!!!! How amazing will that be???? And Helen and Leyla interacting!!! Max and Leyla!! It’ll be so fantastic!!!! (I also wanna see Karen and Leyla interact after the whole closet debacle) And we’ll get probs so much more Lauren and Leyla than last season cause now they’ll be working together!! And we’ll get to see what Leyla is like at work!! And Sharpwin!!’ Sharpwin is finally together. Helen and Lauren can talk about their relationships with each other they can discuss Leyla and Max and Max and Leyla can discuss Helen and Lauren like how cool will that be?? MAYBE A LEYREN SHARPWIN DOUBLE DATE OMG. And I wanna see Floyd and Lauren talking about Leyla and Lyn i love seeing them talk about relationships because they have such a good friendship and history from their past relationship. And then Floyd’s storyline is interesting I wanna see what happens with Floyd and Lyn and Floyd working with Lyn’s husband it’ll be so interesting. Especially to see him finally breaking through his traditional barriers and go forward with a relationship not according to his plan. Also what happens with Iggy I have no idea what’s gonna happen with Iggy but I think it’ll be interesting and I’m so excited to se what happens. And Schulner said that season 4 will be much happier and much more focused on interpersonal relationships so that’ll be really cool to see. Also on the Leyren front even with the Leyren angst I think it’ll be interesting to see what happens with their relationship. It’ll be interesting to see a storyline of Lauren regressing and see what happens from there. Also I like how they’re showing that Leyla isn’t Lauren’s savior while Leyla has helped Lauren’s storyline progress she’s still a human being with some bad behavior patterns who can’t be like “Fixed” with just one relationship and I like how they’re showing that personal growth is sometimes two steps forward three steps back. And I think this’ll aid in Leyla’s character development as well and is learning more about her as a character by seeing her reaction and what she does in the situation and I think in the end it’ll end up strengthening Lauren and Leyla’s relationship once they get past the conflict because it’ll be them working through such a huge conflict and there’s no way you can’t work through such a huge conflict and not come out stronger on the other side. I’m just so excited y’all.

Lyn Malvo is lying to Floyd Reynolds

She ain’t in no open marriage. For someone who’s never indulged in the openness of her marriage as she claims, she’s seems a bit of a pro in reinforcing the boundaries with Floyd while lying in her husband’s face.

And if Floyd has any sense, he should abandon ship immediately (pun intended); because if she’s messy enough to sleep with someone working in the same hospital as her and her husband while lying in said husband’s face, there’s no telling how messy she’s gonna be when this gets out and it will get out. She’s suspect. Big time.

So Helen is definitely pregnant or having a miscarriage. I just saw the Canadian(?)promo on twitter where she’s being taken to surgery and Lyn says ‘the clot has travelled to her lung we need to go now or she’s going to die’ so yeah. I mean Lyn could be there for another reason but she‘s chief OBGYN so I think all roads lead to baby. I’m not sure how I feel about it but also, the show is on a time crunch so whatever, give them all the cliches and let them be a family if it means they get to be happy I guess.

Ooooh, I haven’t seen it but I didn't realize Lyn would be working her case. All we see on our version is Helen. We don't have anything on Trevor, Casey, Wilder, or Mia. Aside from Casey who looks like he got in a car wreck they have us believing something was either in those shots or they all picked up something from the bar no one else did.

So if Helen has a clot that's reached her lung I wonder why an OB would the one to handle it and not cardio-thoracic? Unless they find out she's pregnant via Lyn but she got a clot from flying? Hmmm...I would love to see Helen get to carry the baby she always wanted. I hope she gets that.
