It is highly suspected (and research has proven) that Lyme disease (and Bartonella) is passed in the womb or through sexual contact. This can even be a cause of pregnancy complications like miscarriage. This happens in animals as well, according to a study done on mares in Kentucky. Early embryonic loss rate was 47% in the group of mares that tested positive for Borellia burgdorferi (Journal of Equine Veterinary Science). If not caught early, Lyme and co wrecks families and often infects multiple family members. We need better testing, understanding, more doctors that are aware of it's chronicity and complexity, better insurance coverage, and most of all...a cure!
