“A-Ying, my son, you really have been causing a lot of trouble lately haven’t you?” his mother sighs.

Wei Wuxian is about to protest when his father gives him a pointed Look from where he’s seated beside his mother. He immediately backs down, cowed, and puts on his most miserable expression.

“I’m sorry, A-Niang,” he says.

Cangse shakes her head, but there is a tiny smirk at the corner of her mouth that belies the disapproval, which makes Wei Wuxian feel a tad better. At least his mother isn’t terribly put out with him. Still, they had had to cut short their travels to handle this situation with the engagement, so he feels at least a little bit guilty for it.

“Niangzi,” Wei Changze says, turning to his wife. “This is no laughing matter.”

“Mm, you’re right, Fujun,” Cangse agrees. “We are very fortunate that both Tianjun and Lan-er-dianxia are amenable to this match. Otherwise this would become a political scandal between Qing Qiu and the Nine Heavens.”

Wei Wuxian cowers. He really hadn’t thought that far at the time, to be honest. Not with the threaten of Zidian and Yu Ziyuan breathing down his neck, and the prospect of sitting through another round of mind-numbingly dull suitors. He bows his head.

“A-Ying is willing to receive punishment for his actions,” he says.

His mother sighs.

“Very well then,” she says. 

She leans over and taps him sharply on the forehead twice. He feels himself shifting before he can make a sound, back into his original form in a puff of smoke. His tails fan out behind him as he pads restlessly by her feet.

“Since your mouth got you into trouble, you’ll stay in your original form for a day,” she tells him, not even bothering to hide her laughter. “That way you won’t be able to run your mouth while we negotiate with the future in-laws.”

He whines and paws at her leg. When that garners nothing but another merry laugh, he turns and scarpers away with a miserable little croak.

But where should he go? He can’t go to Jiang Yanli’s new residence. The last time Jin Ling had seen him in his original form, the brat had almost completely torn the fur from one of his tails trying to play with it! And besides, Jin Zixuan would be there, and Wei Wuxian can’t guarantee he won’t pluck a few feathers from the peacock’s tail in revenge for his own. Jiang Cheng would only laugh at his misery. And Nie Huaisang would only find his misery entertaining and use it against him in the future. No, no, none of them would do. 

“Wei Ying?”

He grimaces and curses his bad luck. Of all people to run into, why is it always Lan Wangji?

“Wei Ying, is that you?” Lan Wangji asks, coming to a stop beside him. Wei Wuxian grumbles.

Of course it’s me! he cries silently. Can’t you recognise me you big dumb dolt?

His tails lash out irritably as he casts a baleful glare in Lan Wangji’s direction. Apparently, this is enough of a confirmation for Lan Wangji, who bends down and picks him up around the middle and settles him into the crook of his arm.

Hey, hey, put me down! Wei Wuxian says, his upper lip curling. I don’t need you to carry me around!

“Wei Ying, behave,” Lan Wangji says. His other hand strokes down the length of Wei Wuxian’s back, smoothing down the ruffled fur. “Did Cangse-shangshen put a form-locking spell on you?”

Wei Wuxian’s entire body deflates in response. Lan Wangji snorts quietly under his breath and starts walking. They pass several fairy maidens carrying trays of cakes and pastries in the direction they’d just come from and Wei Wuxian raises his head and sniffs. Lotus seed pastries! His stomach growls audibly.

Lan Wangji pauses mid-step to look down at him. Wei Wuxian whines and ducks his head, covering his face with a paw in embarrassment. The next moment, a flower-shaped pastry appears under his nose. He cranes his neck to look at Lan Wangji.

Lan Zhan! Did you just…steal that?

“Just this once,” Lan Wangji says. “Eat.”

Wei Wuxian yips happily and takes a bite. The pastry is crisp and flaky, the lotus seed paste inside smooth and sweet. It doesn’t hold a candle to the ones Jiang Yanli makes, but he’s hungry enough that he doesn’t care. Plus, Lan Wangji deliberately stole this for him. The righteous, proper Second Prince! He licks his lips after polishing off the last morsel.

“Was it delicious?” Lan Wangji smiles when Wei Wuxian nuzzles his hand. “You should take more care when eating.”

He brushes the stray crumbs from Wei Wuxian’s muzzle. Wei Wuxian nips his fingertips playfully and receives a firm tap on the nose in return. He whines and licks Lan Wangji’s fingers in apology.

“Good boy,” Lan Wangji says.

Wei Wuxian growls. I’m not a kit!

Lan Wangji chuckles at his indignation and keeps walking.

Modaozushi Fanfic Recommendation.

Since I can’t get enough of this novel, might as well pampering/hurting my self more with an outstanding fanfic/canon divergence of this great book. Even the live action and the anime version still nor gonna stop me from these beautiful handmade story by all the fans of Modaozushi.

This recommendation will be focusing on our WangXian couple

Description : It was meant to be a consult, simple, quick, to tell the family and patient that there wasn’t much he could do. (It was well written and you could see how well researched this fanfic is. I Spent my night in tears reading this beautiful fanfic. tips : prepare some tissue and we gonna go on emotional roller coaster.)

the only way to photograph him is asleep and even then it’s like he’s got a sixth sense for it. the amount of times wwx’s managed to sneak his camera out and ready only to turn around and be met by a lwj-shaped imprint in the bed is ridiculous.

wwx’s phone screen is so cracked from the amount of times lwj has sleep-yeeted his phone across the room into a wall. 

there is exactly one (1) nice unblurred pic of lwj and its one where he actually was caught off guard via wwx giving him a lil smooch on the cheek and when wwx shows it to him hes just like *choked up* “...its fine”
