i'm 14 hours into m&l brothership and so far the most disappointing thing about it is that there hasn't been a song that makes me go "holy shit i need to listen to that for 2 weeks straight" like every other game has had
other than that this is everything i could have asked for, people are calling it hand-holding and a bit too easy but i'm a 23 year old man i didn't exactly expect it to challenge me. the old games were harder because i was maybe 10 years old, not because they were actually difficult. i'm here for the story and the charm, and it has a lot of charm. would like to see more Imminent Danger to our main cast but that's just a personal preference lol
#(this is all spoiler free btw! i just wanted to ramble to tumblr about it a bit. been going nuts on priv lol)#it's fun!! and that's all i could have asked for#i got bored as hell playing paper jam. it was such a bad way for the series to die out 😭#im surprised that even as far in as i am the combat keeps changing up quite a bit#and i still dont one-shot hardly anything except for the starter enemies#idk if im under or over leveled or just about right. i dont wanna look up a guide and find out#just got off lottacoins and i was lv16 in the fight#i've game overed 3 times. twice to those birds in a fight i couldnt flee bc i was DEFINITELY underleveled for that one#and once when one bro was down and i found an enemy i didnt know the attack patterns of yet :P#i will say the game is NOT nice to you about your coin count KJFHGJ#in the beginning i was like ''damn i already have 200 coins that's crazy'' and then i go to an item shop and One piece of gear is 160#i just spent all my coins down to zero getting upgrades lmao#but that makes item/gear management way more fun. the game feels really balanced imo#chat#oh and by the way my favorite song so far is conductor island aka the starting island#the others are Good but they dont do much to stand out... that's what's disappointing about them so far#but conductor island is so calm <3 it's beautiful

Live Emotion Review from 4Gamer Part 1 - Rhythm Game
Lots of new info and images.
4Gamer has released a full report detailing the gameplay experience of Live Emotion. You can see their full report in Japanese on their official website.
Part 2 - Story Part 3 - Home Screen and MiniPri
Song Selection:
Some of the initially available songs are:
My Cutie... Drive me Crazy - Lv14, Sing attribute (pink icon).
OVER THE TOP - Lv16, Sing attribute
Michibiki Hikari - Lv12, Charm attribute (yellow icon)
KIR☆MEKI EMOTION - Lv19, Sing attribute,
SONG LETTER - Lv.17, Dance attribute (blue icon)
GLORIOUS ANGELS - Lv16(?), Charm attribute
Maji Love 1000% - RAINBOW STAR ver.- Lv14, Charm attribute
QUARTET☆NIGHT - Lv.??, Sing attribute.
At the bottom left of the image are various filters and search functions for songs. On the right are details for the selected song. In this case displaying the members that sing Kirameki Emotion, buttons underneath to check your ranking (the other has kanji I cant make out, potentially 'completion rewards'), and the option to swap between MV options (detailed later).
Song Difficulty:
Each song has four difficulties; Easy, Normal, Hard, and Expert.
Each difficulty has different amounts of lanes that notes will approach on. 2 on Easy, 4 on Normal, and 6 on Hard and Expert.
The song's 'Lv' refers to how hard it is in the chosen difficulty. For example, a Lv19 song on Hard will be harder than a Lv16 song on Hard.
Music Video Options:
Shots from each group's Live Emotion Theme Song MV showcasing alternate outfits. Likely from an initial set of Normal or Rare Pieces.
Not every song has a Music Video (MV). For songs that do, you can choose between:
2D/No MV - A static stage background. Or, in Live settings, the player can set up to 7 still illustrations as the background so you can still look at your favourite idol (presumably like this Kira above?)
Normal 3D - Unknown. Possibly a static front facing camera version of the MV.
Rich 3D - Also unknown, but maybe this is the versions of the MVs we've seen so far with different camera angles.
Clearing Songs:
Clearing a song with an MV unlocks Live Viewing, allowing you to watch the MV whenever you like.
Clearing any song will also reward you with materials needed to level up Pieces, and raise the Level and Affection of Emotional Pieces used.
It will also add a stamp to a point card called the 'Music Card'. Once the Music Card is fully stamped you can unlock a new song and the Music Card will reset. There will be different amounts of stamps added to the Card depending on conditions met.

an xb inspired fakemon line - exbite, exbow, and mercenexbe
i think seeing hermit/mcyt inspired fakemon would be awesome!!!
sorry im going to go full autism here - i designed these to be kind of like starter pokemon!!
Exbite (lv1-15) (Water), Exbow (lv16-35) (Water), Mercenexbe (lv36-) (Water/Dark)
As starter analogues they all have the ability torrent and the hidden ability storm drain - though i debated with something like keen eye/super luck so an accuracy or critical hit based ability
A possible stat spread would be bulky and high sp.atk, not incredible speed though
There is already a perfect signature move in Snipe Shot so it’s sharing with Inteleon haha, this is why it also cant have the sniper ability, like most water types it would get access to strong special ice moves as well as water ones. Maybe Thunder and Hurricane as well. When Mercenexbe gets the dual dark typing too it gets some nice dark moves and more setupy stuff, like the guy hes based on he can be a bit sneaky too! A scary rain dance sweeper maybe!
#this is my first time designing a fakemon since i was a kid so i know its not incredible in any way but it was still A lot of fun#i think the names are funny… they all have xb in it obvs#exbite bc it looks like a little creature (its supposed to look a bit axolotly) and bite just seems like a creature word (think gabite ig)#exbow because. it has a bow made of water obviously but also Oxbow lakes#mercenexbe because xb is. Good at pvp. Like a mercenary is good at fighting. And mer like mermaid i guess. Double puns#art post#mod kettle

Playing a dragoon uh I mean Fighter in a lv16 Pathfinder 2e game. Able to jump like 90 ft, has a 15 ft reach when in Lunging Stance, and gets two opportunity attacks per round. Fighters are so fun!!

even freshly evolved Lv16 Marshtomp still needs to have the shittest special bulk possible for a Marshtomp to have at that point for Rival 2's Lv20 Grovyle to even have a 1 in 16 shot at OHKOing it with non-crit Absorb
Absorb is so fucking cringe
#you're hitting a STAB quad weak move with level advantage#that marshtomp should be atomized right now#Lv15 Mudkip always lives non-crit btw

Thoughts on Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
Now that I've completed the main storyline of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, I wanted to give my detailed thoughts on the games.
Much of the buzz about these games is unfortunately negative - that they're fraught with bugs, suffer from frame rate and performance issues, and have clear signs that they were rushed. While I can't say that this isn't true, the question I can definitely answer is whether these things hindered my personal enjoyment of the games...and the answer is no. I recall that there was even more initial negativity for Sword/Shield due to them being the first games cutting out pokemon from the national-dex, plus similar complaints about graphics and performance issues. People even went so far as to say they won't even buy the games. But of course, those games ended up being massively successful. And, as I expected, Scarlet/Violet have also sold incredibly well. As much as fans trash the new Pokemon games, they seem to always be a hit. I guess, when it comes down to it, we just love Pokemon too much to stay mad at it for very long, lol. Does it suck that these games continue to exclude pokemon and are riddled with bugs/glitches? Of course. But does it also mean that the bad things about the games outweigh the joy that they bring? Definitely not, at least for me. A game with glitches can still be a very fun game (just look at Pokemon Red/Blue) and I'm having a blast with Scarlet/Violet, just as I did with Sword/Shield, and really, every main series Pokemon game since the beginning...there was never a generation of Pokemon I disliked. Like I always say, even if there are some things about a beloved franchise that you don't like, if you find that you can't fully divorce yourself from it, you might as well make the best of it and have fun.
So with that out of the way, let's look at the new games themselves. One of the main selling points for Scarlet/Violet is being the first "open world" Pokemon games. While that term is used a bit loosely, it does mean you're able to do any of the 18 story events in any order you like. Now I have to say that I played through the game in a way that most people probably did not - I looked up all the 18 events on Serebii, noted the levels of the pokemon for each, then did them in order starting with the lowest levels to highest levels. For example, I did the bug gym first (LV14), then the first titan pokemon (LV16), then the grass gym (LV17), then the first Team Star base (LV21), and so on. Of course I stopped in between to explore, battle trainers, and catch pokemon, but for the most part I just stuck to the story. I don't like being too under or over leveled, so with this method the game was fairly challenging, especially towards the end where the level gaps for the story events seem to get bigger. But from what I've heard, people who play the game normally have tended to get very over leveled for much of the main story. Assuming future pokemon games will also be open world, hopefully they'll implement some kind of level scaling. It might be tricky with a game like pokemon, for example, if you put level scaling, you can't make a legendary pokemon LV10 or something, but that would then mean restricting the location of that pokemon until later, hence making it less open world. I'm sure there's some way to make it more balanced.
But as far as the open world aspect of Scarlet/Violet overall? I thought this was the closest a Pokemon game has ever gotten to making me feel like I'm really on an adventure with pokemon. Being able to traverse through vast fields, mountains, rivers, etc, seeing tons of pokemon out in the overworld wandering around, sleeping, running, swimming, flying, and hanging out in groups of similar species, being able to seamlessly go from town to town without any loading screens, and have battles with trainers you meet along the way while the wild pokemon in the area continue to go about their business all around you (instead of the standard battle background templates we've gotten in every other game). Setting up a picnic at any spot and being able to freely roam around with your team of pokemon (without the locked camera in Sword/Shield) and being able to play ball with them, bathe them, watch the cute ways that they sleep, etc...all of this added up to probably the most immersive Pokemon adventure I've ever had, so I definitely have to give Scarlet/Violet kudos for that. Another improvement is in the textures of the pokemon sprites themselves. You can now see things like fur, feathers, metallic shines, etc., instead of the "flat" textures that all pokemon shared in past games. I guess one nitpick I have is that the towns themselves are pretty dull. They all have very similar food, clothing, and supply stores and no unique buildings/houses to enter and NPCs to talk to like in past games. I can kind of see why they went this route for games like this, but having each town have at least one unique thing besides the gym leader would have been nice.
Terastallizing is the new gimmick in these games, and although I haven't yet gotten around to fully exploring how to use it in competitive battling, I think it has great potential! I'm glad they kept raids in these games as it was a great multiplayer addition in Sword/Shield, though I'm still a bit confused with how turn order works in tera raids. I'll figure it out eventually.
Another thing I love about the games is how it's even easier to make competitive pokemon. As someone whose main interest in Pokemon games is battling people online, this is very welcome. They already made it easy in Sword/Shield with the addition of mints and exp candy, but Scarlet/Violet goes a step further by making all the supplies you'll need for a competitive pokemon - vitamins, mints, held items, and bottle caps - available to buy at stores! (Also you can now hyper train pokemon at LV50, which is great). No more having to farm battle points or search desperately for that Munchlax with Leftovers. Though the one downside here is that all these things cost lots of money. In Sword/Shield, I was able to easily farm money by rematching the champion cup using my LV100 gigantamax Meowth with G-Max Goldrush. But apparently in Scarlet/Violet the only battles you can redo are in the Academy Ace Tournament, which I haven't explored yet and I'm not even sure if you get money for that. Seems like your main source of post-game income in Scarlet/Violet will be from selling the respawning items in the overworld and drops from tera raids. Still researching this but hopefully people will discover better methods as time goes on.
Another thing I really liked about Scarlet/Violet is the main storyline and characters. Now I'm someone who pretty much never replays Pokemon games - after I complete the game once, I spend the rest of my time in the post-game world. As such, most of the stories and characters in past games haven't really stuck in my head very well. Overall, I just don't find the human characters in Pokemon games all that interesting or memorable (with a few exceptions, like Cyrus and Lusamine). However, having finished Scarlet/Violet, I have to say that the overarching plot between the three main storylines, and how the characters you befriend there come together in a surprisingly suspenseful and emotional climax, was fantastic. I actually found myself liking a lot of the characters - I liked the relationship between the Team Star members and Penny, I liked Nemona as a slightly eccentric but overall well-meaning rival, and I even found some of the gym leaders interesting as well. The games also have a few pre-rendered cutscenes (a rarity in Pokemon games) which were great at giving us a better variety of expressions and gestures from the characters, which helped further the emotional impact of the story. And speaking of expressions, I absolutely adored the animations for Koraidon/Miraidon in the cutscenes - very reminiscent of Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon. Kudos to whoever decided to give the mascot pokemon such endearing expressions.
To conclude, I think Pokemon Scarlet/Violet are fantastic additions to the Pokemon series despite some benign glitches. Improvements such as the open world immersion, a more fleshed out storyline and characters, and easier ways of getting items are all welcome in my book. While it would have been nice if they delayed the game longer to smooth out all the graphical bugs, I still think the final product we got is very enjoyable for any Pokemon fan. I can't wait to keep delving into the post-game, and look forward to future DLC!

Feli's Binding Blade Blind Faux Ironman is COMPLETE
and by "faux" i mean there were cases i didn't deliberatley reset but instead ragequit and i also just restarted chapters when roy beefed it because i'm a pussy
anyway.
SURVIVAL RANK E BABEYYYYYYYYYY
out of all of the dead. i have one burning question
how the fuck did lalum survive chapter 21
she got surrounded by wyverns but they just didnt attack her. was it bcuz their hit rate was 0? but enemies love attacking lugh when they have a hitrate of 0. good for her ig, you go girl, live!!
LET US THANK THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND:
ALLEN!!! With maxed out attack, incredible defense, high speed and skill, as well acess to the full weapon triangle and amazing HP, Allen is the unit with the most battles, the most kills, and the singlehanded savior of this shitshow of a challenge run.
Without him, I'd be dead many times over. He had higher stats than Perceval when I recruited him in ch15, and this trend kept up because Perceval's level ups were garbage.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
LUGH!! The best mage of this run. He maxed his speed INCREDIBLY fast, and became basically unhittable to everything. Place him on a forest tile, and the hit rate is zero. His high speed, 1-2 weapon range, and high magic also meant he blasted everything into oblivion on counterattack. In chapter 21, he held off half the wyvern reinforcements all by himself cuz none of them could touch him. Get Aircalibur'd, idiot.
ZEISS!! My only decent flyer because Shanna is the only pegasus i recruited! Instead of promo'ing instantly as I did Melady (much to my regret cuz she was not useful except for ferrying), I threw Allen at Narcian's runesword till it broke, and got him to lv16 before promoting. Though not as busted as the former two, he still held his own. With a Shield of Delphi stolen off Narcian, he had really damn good defense. Though there were many occasions he only survived because a 60% attack missed. You are one lucky bastard.
PERCEVAL!!! After the death of Noah and Jerrot, Perceval's recruitment was a light on the horizon. Finally I had another good paladin, even if it took Noah's sacrifice to figure out you recruit him with Lalum. Though he wasn't as good as Allen, he still held his own in every situation, and even landed the killing blow on Zephiel with Mallet. Thank you king.
SUE!!!! Rounding out the unbeatable death squad, Sue was the sole living archer for a GOOD chunk of the game. When Wolt died and later Shin, she was the one to snipe foes, to slay wyverns in a heartbeat, and land some sick crits with a Killer Bow. Not a solo destroyer like her companions, she was nonetheless an invaluable asset.
it was this squad of five that carried my ass through every map, with support from various healers (mainly Saul and Celica, later joined by Raigh, Niime and Lugh himself). Whittling down bosses, holding off hordes of enemies, somehow preventing Lalum from dying five times over, and finally taking the throne; I thank ye, my scrimblos.
now it is time. to honor the fallen.
unlike lalum, these two did not survive same turn wyvern reinforcements <3
just like him. but he was dead weight anyway so
i dont even remember how these two beefed it. i DO remember recruiting perceval in ch15 and then noah died and going eh. i have perceval now its fine. OH YEAH CH18 WAS THE SACAE MAP RIGHT? lot got skewered by archers
classic case of "i put too much faith in her def stat" with echidna. fir got crit to death in retribution for killing rutger back in ch9
honestly if you give me a lv1 shaman in a fog of war map with wyverns how was she supposed to live
Shin tragically died escorting Astore to some treasure as i camped the boss because of sudden reinforcements <3 Astore survived because i seized in time <3 jerrot died of old age ig
fog of war casualties <3 again rutger got crit by fir and lilina was killed by Suddenly Pirates
alas tumblr mobile's image cap.
Deke: died tragically to a crit in ch8. first loss i was truly upset by. deke my man.
Wolt: died to archers in ch7. i think. i had Sue so whatever
Elen: beefed it in ch12 but she was obsolete when Lugh promoted anyway
Wade: killed in ch3. First death of the run. I was very whatever about it.
FINAL DEATH COUNT: 16
This is without units who died of non-recruitment, such as Gonzales, Klein, and many others.
SURVIVAL RANK: E
conclusion: god i had a ton of fun with this game, even when it threw some garbage at me. The many same turn reinforcements, the fog of war maps, the sheer size of every single chapter, and Horse Emblem. The atrocious hitrates on everything and everyone, enemy and ally alike.
I definetly played too conservatively in the beginning. Yeah, i treated units like they were more expendable, but i did NOT use all my good items, which is a huge mistake in retrospect. What really taught me this was that one Sacae map with two Bolting mages camping in the walls, who sniped Roy. I came back, equipped with my own Bolting and a Silence staff, readily prepared. Revenge was glorious.
I obviously didn't get the true ending, with how many plot important characters died. My only legendary weapon, besides the ones Yoder yeets at you (thank you for the Mallet, Zephiel would've taken five years otherwise), was Durandal. I got none of the other ones, either cuz I missed turn counts or had dead required units. I'll for sure go back and try again, this time while looking shit up.
I very notably played this entirely blind. I didn't know shit. That's how me recruiting Perceval is a fucking miracle, cuz his goons surrounded Lalum, and I thought, goddamn, let's try it. Twas sheer coincidence.
This was my first brush truly experiencing the permadeath mechanic. Yeah, i played SoV on classic, but with Mila's Timewheel? Nobody ever died. It was really fun to just revel in my mistakes. I reset more often toward the endgame (ch22 took me a couple attempts), but it was still a great experience to just. Take the loss and move on. To think, what now? But, well, Lugh and Allen were unkillable anyway.
Well, no, actually, they very much were. Even though they were my juggernauts, it's not to the degree of later FE games. Lugh sweeping is definetly not comparable to say, Dimitri in FE3H, or Morgan in Awakening. No matter how good they were, I still had to pay attention to keep them alive. It was a fun tightrope to walk.
All in all, great game! I'm really glad I gave it a try! I didn't talk story much, cuz, yknow, it's pretty basic, but I did like it. Zephiel's backstory and the mystery surrounding the dragons were done well enough.
TL;DR: Roy is our boy.
#feli speaks#fe6#GOOD GAME. I'M GONNA PLAY IT AGAIN#yeah i could play blazing blade now but. nah. roytime continues#roy you are kind of garbage but i love you anyway. why the fuck do you only promote in chapter 21. i benched you for three maps#cuz you hit lv20. roy. why

Alright, ending session 1 for now. The team:
Rosemary the Floragato (lv19, Rash)
Biscuit the Fidough (lv20, Impish)
Thea the Flamigo (lv18, Naughty)
Chandra the Carcadet (lv17, Lax)
Marsha the Nymble (lv16, Quirky)
Luzura the Klawf (lv18, Impish)
More thoughts below.
The game so far has continued to be fairly easy. Nothing exceptional yet. Titan Pokemon go down really hard just by being supereffective. Rosemary obliterated the Klawf, for instance.
The middle stage of Sprigatito does stand. I’m not super thrilled, but it’s got some Zorro vibes, so I’m willing to see what they do at the end.
Charcadet is adorable. I didn’t know Ceruledge had a pre-evo, but I love it. I’m not thrilled about the nature but I’m trying not to get hung up on it.
Nymble is adorable. I love it. It’s a cute little grasshopper! I kinda want to see what it evolves into. I hope it’s good. It sounds like Bug/Fighting though. Which...sure.
Luzura the Klawf has a bit of a story. I was struggling to name the thing, and my wife brought up crab maiden from The Owl House, and the connection happened on its own. Klawf’s been really useful lately. We’ll see if it sticks.
I’m enjoying the exploration aspect. It’s very Legends-esque, which is the correct answer.
