15. Something you learned this year

I learnt a lot about omegaverse for a certain fic, since prior to someone egging me with ideas for it, I had never had an interest in that trope xD

18. Current number of wips

Hmm, let's see: there's the secret santa one, the siegemas fic, the ideas for a second part of a fic I posted recently (just a bullet list for now), the bodyswap fic gathering cobwebs and shaming me every time I land my eyes on it, and the undercover operation glazkan one pending to be re-written but that I keep thinking about it. I think that's it.

28. Longest fic you read this year

Uh, I... I read a lot of Game of Thrones fic, mostly canon divergence AUs that re-work a lot of the plot of the series or books, things like that. And those tend to be fucking huge. Like double-digits thousands of words at minimum.

WIP Day

So, I'm currently working on a secret santa fic, and obviously I can't share that... Instead you're getting another teaser of the omegaverse fic, even tho that one is only a wip in the sense that it's being edited

He wanted clothes that carried the scent of his teammates, and he was too mortified to ask for it despite how much he desired it. It was such a silly thing to stress over, except Kapkan was getting worked up about it, every stereotype about omegas being needy flashing through his mind. Yet the more he noticed himself worrying over it, the more distressed he was, until a small whimper escaped him.

“Maxim?” Glaz asked, not daring to look behind the privacy screen. “Is everything alright?”

“You okay there, princess?” Tachanka said at the same time.

Closing his eyes, Kapkan swallowed his pride and went out from behind the screen, an open hand extended towards them. “Your jackets, hand them over.”

Neither Tachanka nor Glaz questioned his command, and both hurried to hand their garments to the snarling omega in front of them. Kapkan didn’t pause to marvel at his success, he swiped both jackets in one motion and retreated back to his nest, face planting on the mattress with his prize.

So, I've been working on getting over my customary end&start of the year writer's block, slowly. And this is the project, a Tachanka/Kapkan story that sort of adheres to canon lore for once *shocked gasp*

All Ghosteyes squad managed to find was the information of what cargo was being relocated and where it was going. Aside from that, they had no idea who they truly were up against. Could be a rival mercenary group trying to screw over Nighthaven and they were just caught in the crossfire of that idiocy, or could be something more worrisome - like a prelude to a new Bartlett-like situation.

“If you keep thinking so hard you’ll get wrinkles,” Tachanka said, and despite him wearing his balaclava Kapkan could tell the bastard was smirking.

“Is that why you look smoother than you should be at your age? And here I thought you were using your wife’s creams,” Kapkan deadpanned.

As if their hushed whispers in Russian hadn’t disturbed the quiet atmosphere enough, Tachanka’s booming laugh surely made them the center of attention. “Ex-wife. But she never complained about me getting my face wet with her cream. Do you want me to show you how it's done, princess?"

WIP Day!

I was tagged by the always lovely @simonxriley several weeks in a row, and I finally have a WIP again to share! Thanks 💜

I.. uhm, a little nervous about this wip tbh... but well, let’s rip the bandaid: it’s omegaverse. That’s it, I said it. Enjoy? 😂

“What now?” Glaz asked, only panting a little. “The sandstorm is getting worse, even if we reach the designated exfil point…”

“So what, you wanna give up?” Tachanka scoffed, breathing harshly. “It’s better we keep going.”

A small argument broke out about whether they should try to find a safe spot to wait for the storm to pass, or if to push forward until they reached an extraction area where the helo could land. Kapkan grunted annoyed and tuned them out. Typical of alphas, they would get into an argument at the worst times, both insisting they were right and trying to make the other bow down. Usually, it ended with Kapkan acting as the irritated peacemaker and deciding on which option he thought was better. Which oftentimes was an idea of his own and not one of theirs. However, today he wasn’t in the mood to handle their posturing. He was unreasonably tired, his skin itched like his own clothes were full of sand on the inside, and all he wanted was some peace and quiet. 

He realised something was wrong when both his teammates suddenly shut up, and Kapkan grabbed his weapon tightly, readying for a fight. They must have seen something coming. Except, they were both looking at him, Glaz in shock and Tachanka with a frown. Then it hit him, the cloying sweet smell laced with something that resembled lavender.

It had been years since Kapkan smelled that, and at first he didn’t recognize it was him.
