i'm not even TRYING to push my yuta agenda here, but he literally lies for no reason so we'll have to go with him! set in a biopunk city where all sorts of biological monstrosities roam; some are friendlier than they look, but most of them aren't. it's dark, it's grimy, it's kinda gross, but somehow, people thrive.

yuta is a mysterious wanderer and trader who's popular among young children in your neighbourhood. he always tells them little white lies and stories when they ask him where he's been: he was running laps around the city and chasing monsters, or he was fighting a giant squid at the grocery store for the candies he brought them.

but behind closed doors, with the grown ups, he's dealing weapons and rare (probably biohazardous) materials. telling white lies to the kids is one thing, but trying to cover up where he gets his wares from is another. when he brings you an extinct species of microorganisms for your research with a half-assed explanation for how he got them, you set out to discover exactly what he does when no one's watching.

basically: in which all of yuta's little lies snowball into the biggest monster he's ever seen, and he's the only one who can take it down.

Utter defeat weighs you down on the mattress as you crawl into the space between his arms and the blanket he had draped over his torso, ready to pull it up for you to nuzzle under as you safely melt into him. The kind man you’d grown accustomed to calling your fiancé already has soft words of comfort prepared to greet you with, muttering small, and yet so meaningful reassurances.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Yeonjun presses a chaste kiss on your temple, waiting for your response, which eventually comes in the form of a tired no. Much too worn down, you don’t have the will left in you to talk anymore for the rest of the night. He understands, wordlessly humming a small tune accompanying the sound of the storm brewing outside.

As you fiddle with the gold ring around his slim finger under the cover, you adjust your position to hide your face under his chin, breathing in his familiar scent. Hearing his almost inaudible chuckles brings a long awaited smile on your face, lips curling to express your content. An indescribable joy fills Yeonjun’s body when he feels the brush of your lips against his skin.

“You did well today.” He smoothes his palm over your back in a steady rhythm, peaceful in contrast to the thunder booming. You are here in his arms, a hand pressed on your lover’s chest to feel the relaxed beats of his heart as you slowly drift into a well-deserved sleep, the worries and doubts fading away into the back of your mind when you hear him say those four words that mean more to you than anyone else other than him could imagine.

Once he notice how your breath has slowed down, he clasps his hand around yours, heart overflowing with adoration as he feels the cool touch of the metal on your ring finger, once again reminded how you’re right there, safe and sound in his tender hold— hopefully, for the rest of your lives. You and him against the rest of the world, together until the very lovely end.

The rain pelts down mercilessly tonight, but once again you are at ease, here in your own little safe haven. Away from the worries and away from the doubts.

The bus is crowded, though that is nothing worth taking note of. It’s a regular Friday afternoon, a rush of students and workers alike rushing to get home after the long and mundane week. There are a few elementary school kids exchanging game cards at the far left corner of the bus you’ve stepped onto, an old lady with a small bag of groceries sitting idly by the window seat somewhere at the back side, a suited man glancing at his watch as he grips on the bar above his head to stabilise himself.

You’re sitting safely at the very front, right behind the driver’s cubicle with Beomgyu to your right, shielding you from the mass of people squeezing themselves in the middle row. It’s like any other bus ride, you and him side to side— hand in hand, even.

He slips his hand discreetly in yours, fingers intertwined. The reaction he gets is almost instantaneous. There is a kind of satisfaction he gets from seeing the effect he has on you even by the smallest of actions. His heart trembles as you visibly hold back a shy smile at the warmth of his hand wrapped around yours.

It’s silly, he likes to remind himself whenever he feels his lips slipping into a lovesick grin. It’s so silly, he thinks as his stomach flips just by the sight of your abashed gaze. He feels so utterly silly for being so infatuated by your eyes, your lips, your scent and voice— it’s so silly, he tries to gather himself back into a semblance of his old, uncaring self and yet every time he does, you call for his name again.

Just like that, his knees feel weak and his mind falls numb again. A dream, he likes to describe you with those two words. You are just like a dream he’ll never in his life be willing to wake up from.

Your finger hovers over the strands of hair that had fallen before his lashes, gently brushing them away while trying to avoid looking into his eyes too much. The bus is crowded and yet the noise falls deaf to his ears. The world around him is nonexistent when he’s with you, he discovers.

It terrifies him.

He’s fallen so hard— much too hard and it scares him to no end. No longer does he have a grip on reality when he’s in your quiet presence. He’s forever drunk in everything you offer him, whether you know it or not and that is enough reason to be afraid.

Choi Beomgyu, the one who not a single soul could ever picture without a blank look on his face, is in love and no one is more surprised by this fact than he is. Choi Beomgyu hears the birds sing when there aren’t even any lining his window and he sees stars twinkling in your eyes even in daylight.

He is just a simple man in love.

★ [ ▬ 18:19 PM ] ★ You never wanted your boyfriend to know what kind of person you are behind those smiles. It’s only been a week ever since you dated yukhei and you broke the promise you told yourself after you broke up with your last lover. Never date another man. But you let your guard down, and right now, you were fiddling on your fingers pondering whether if you’ve made the right decision or not.

You were never a stable-minded person—you were told to be a burden once. And you were afraid that Yukhei might tell you the same.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang as it echoed around your entire apartment. “I wasn’t expecting a visitor today…” you mumbled as you walked to the front door, just to be greeted by a smiling yukhei, with food in his hands. You were genuinely surprised that he visited you during non-school hours, but his presence made you smile nonetheless, the once fear of him leaving you was pushed off your mind, but it didn’t completely leave.

You both decided to watch a movie, and right now, you are both seated on the couch with popcorns on the table. The movie you were watching was about trust issues and fear of losing someone just because of the other character’s personal reasons—it was the perfect way to describe what you were currently feeling.

You couldn’t seem to focus on the movie and your boyfriend noticed, to which he asks you, “Are you okay?” He paused the movie to turn his body in your way to see you more clearly. “You can tell me whatever is bothering you.” You looked down and pursed your lip into a thin line before actually telling him everything that has been bothering you.

After hearing it, Yukhei engulfed you into a hug as he caressed your back soothingly. “No, don’t think that— don’t think about something like that, ok? I will never leave you.” He mumbled as he planted a soft and endearing kiss on your forehead.

“I will love you the same always and forever. Just like how I do right now.”
