It's Fine Press Friday!
A Classic Representation
The Greek Portrait is an anthology of English verse translations of eminent Greek poets, from Homer to Meleager, with the corresponding Greek text presented alongside. Numerous translators provided the translations, taking on the arduous task of translating essential works from the Classical Period, including epic, lyric, and dramatic poetry.
This 1934 edition was designed by British fine-press publisher Francis Meynell (1891-1975) and printed in an edition of 425 copies by Dutch book and type designer Jan van Krimpen (1892-1958) at the Press of Enschedé en Zonen in Haarlem for Meynell's Nonesuch Press in London. The text was edited by English poet and critic George Rostrevor Hamilton (1888-1967) and printed on Pannekoek paper in Fleischman Greek and van Krimpen's Lutetia types.
The illustrations are by Mariette Lydis (1887-1970), an Austrian-Argentine painter known for her portraits, illustrations, and erotic engravings. She was a self-taught artist who began her career at a young age and had a history of creating what was considered controversial artwork during her lifetime. She gained recognition for creating lithographic depictions that celebrated lesbian and bisexual relationships. However, some critics of her work described the illustrations as "perverse.” We find these prints to be quite lovely, however.

Appendix X: The Origin of the Guilds
The origin of the guilds has been the subject of many controversies. There is not the slightest doubt that craft-guilds, or “colleges” of artisans, existed in ancient Rome. It appears, indeed, from a passage in Plutarch that Numa legislated about them. “He divided the people,” we are told, “into trades... ordering them to have brotherhoods, festivals, and meetings, and indicating the worship they had to accomplish before the gods, according to the dignity of each trade.” It is almost certain, however, that it was not the Roman king who invented, or instituted, the trade-colleges — they had already existed in ancient Greece; in all probability, he simply submitted them to royal legislation, just as Philippe le Bel, fifteen centuries later, submitted the trades of France, much to their detriment, to royal supervision and legislation. One of the successors of Numa, Servius Tullius, also is said to have issued some legislation concerning the colleges.[319]
Consequently, it was quite natural that historians should ask themselves whether the guilds which took such a development in the twelfth, and even the tenth and the eleventh centuries, were not revivals of the old Roman “colleges” — the more so as the latter, as seen from the above quotation, quite corresponded to the mediæval guild.[320] It is known, indeed, that corporations of the Roman type existed in Southern Gaul down to the fifth century. Besides, an inscription found during some excavations in Paris shows that a corporation of Lutetia nautæ existed under Tiberius; and in the chart given to the Paris “water-merchants” in 1170, their rights are spoken of as existing ab antiquo [from ancient] (same author, p. 51). There would have been, therefore, nothing extraordinary, had corporations been maintained in early medieval France after the barbarian invasions.
However, even if as much must be granted, there is no reason to maintain that the Dutch corporations, the Norman guilds, the Russian artéls, the Georgian amkari, and so on, necessarily have had also a Roman, or even a Byzantine origin. Of course, the intercourse between the Normans and the capital of the East-Roman Empire was very active, and the Slavonians (as has been proved by Russian historians, and especially by Rambaud) took a lively part in that intercourse. So, the Normans and the Russians may have imported the Roman organization of trade-corporations into their respective lands. But when we see that the artél was the very essence of the everyday life of all the Russians, as early as the tenth century, and that this artél, although no sort of legislation has ever regulated its life till modern times, has the very same features as the Roman college and the Western guild, we are still more inclined to consider the eastern guild as having an even more ancient origin than the Roman college. Romans knew well, indeed, that their sodalitia and collegia were “what the Greeks called hetairiai” (Martin-Saint-Léon, p. 2), and from what we know of the history of the East, we may conclude, with little probability of being mistaken, that the great nations of the East, as well as Egypt, also have had the same guild organization. The essential features of this organization remain the same wherever we may find them. It is a union of men carrying on the same profession or trade. This union, like the primitive clan, has its own gods and its own worship, always containing some mysteries, specific to each separate union; it considers all its members as brothers and sisters — possibly (at its beginnings) with all the consequences which such a relationship implied in the gens, or, at least, with ceremonies that indicated or symbolized the clan relations between brother and sister; and finally, all the obligations of mutual support which existed in the clan, exist in this union; namely, the exclusion of the very possibility of a murder within the brotherhood, the clan responsibility before justice, and the obligation, in case of a minor dispute, of bringing the matter before the judges, or rather the arbiters, of the guild brotherhood. The guild — one may say — is thus modelled upon the clan.
Consequently, the same remarks which are made in the text concerning the origin of the village community, apply, I am inclined to think, equally to the guild, the artél, and the craft- or neighbour-brotherhood. When the bonds which formerly connected men in their clans were loosened in consequence of migrations, the appearance of the paternal family, and a growing diversity of occupations — a new territorial bond was worked out by mankind in the shape of the village community; and another bond — an occupation bond — was worked out in an imaginary brotherhood — the imaginary clan, which was represented: between two men, or a few men, by the “mixture-of-blood brotherhood” (the Slavonian pobratimstvo), and between a greater number of men of different origin, i.e. originated from different clans, inhabiting the same village or town (or even different villages or towns) — the phratry, the hetairiai, the amkari, the artél, the guild.[321]
As to the idea and the form of such an organization, its elements were already indicated from the savage period downwards. We know indeed that in the clans of all savages there are separate secret organizations of warriors, of witches, of young men, etc. — craft mysteries, in which knowledge concerning hunting or warfare is transmitted; in a word, “clubs,” as Miklukho-Maclay described them. These “mysteries” were, in all probability, the prototypes of the future guilds.[322]
With regard to the above-mentioned work by E. Martin-Saint-Léon, let me add that it contains very valuable information concerning the organization of the trades in Paris — as it appears from the Livre des métiers of Boileau — and a good summary of information relative to the Communes of different parts of France, with all bibliographical indications. It must, however, be remembered that Paris was a “Royal city” (like Moscow, or Westminster), and that consequently the free medieval-city institutions have never attained there the development which they have attained in free cities. Far from representing “the picture of a typical corporation,” the corporations of Paris, “born and developed under the direct tutorship of royalty,” for this very same cause (which the author considers a cause of superiority, while it was a cause of inferiority — he himself fully shows in different parts of his work how the interference of the imperial power in Rome, and of the royal power in France, destroyed and paralyzed the life of the craft-guilds) could never attain the wonderful growth and influence upon all the life of the city which they did attain in North-Eastern France, at Lyons, Montpellier, Nimes, etc., or in the free cities of Italy, Flanders, Germany, and so on.

2,000-Year-Old Graves Found in Ancient Necropolis in Paris
Archaeologists have discovered 50 tombs in an ancient necropolis just meters from a busy train station in central Paris, and these tombs belong to a lost necropolis of the Gallo-Roman city of Lutetia, the predecessor of present-day Paris.
These graves provide a rare look at life in Lutetia, the city that predated Paris by nearly 2,000 years.
Despite numerous road works over the years, as well as the construction of the Port-Royal station on the historic Left Bank in the 1970s, the buried necropolis was never discovered.
Only after plans for a new station exit were announced did France’s National Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP) open a series of test trenches covering 200 square meters (2152.78 sq ft) of land around the station.
The excavation revealed burials believed to be part of the Saint Jacques necropolis dating back to the 2nd century, the research institute said in a news release.
Camille Colonna, an anthropologist at INRAP, told a press conference that there were already “strong suspicions” the site was close to Lutetia’s southern necropolis.
The Saint Jacques necropolis, the most important burial site in the Gallo-Roman town of Lutetia, was previously excavated in the 1800s. However, only objects considered precious were taken from the graves, with the many skeletons, burial offerings, and other artifacts abandoned. The necropolis was then covered over and again lost to time.
The INRAP team discovered one section that had never before been excavated.
“No one has seen it since antiquity,” said INRAP president Dominique Garcia.
Colonna also stated that the team was “very happy” to have discovered a skeleton with a coin in its mouth, which allowed them to date the burial to the 2nd century A.D.
The excavation has uncovered 50 graves, all of which were used for burial — not cremation, which was also common at the time.
The remains of the men, women, and children are believed to be Parisii, a Gallic people who lived in Lutetia, from when the town on the banks of the Seine river was under the control of the Roman Empire.
The Parisii were skilled in agriculture, metallurgy, and long-distance trading and lived in the area around the south banks of the Seine River in Paris during the 2nd century AD. The Parisii founded Lutetia (now Paris), and despite fierce resistance to the Roman conquest, they were subjugated in the first century BC.
Ceramic jewelry, hairpins and belts, jug goblets, dishes, glassware, and other grave goods have been recovered to help date the burials. According to INRAP, the positions of hundreds of small iron nails, that attached soles to leather shoes, informed the archaeologists that while some were placed on the feet of the interred, others had been buried with shoes on either side of the bodies as a type of offering.
The entire skeleton of a pig was found inside one coffin, and the remains of another small animal were found inside what is thought to have been a sacrifice pit for the gods. Furthermore, a coin was found lodged inside the mouth of a buried person. The coin, known as “Charon’s obol,” reflected the story of Charon in Greek mythology, in which a coin was given to the ferryman of Hades to transport the souls of the deceased across the river Styx.
INRAP president Dominique Garcia said that the ancient history of Paris was “generally not well known,” adding that the unearthed graves open “a window into the world of Paris during antiquity.”
Unlike the excavation in the 1800s, this time the team plans to remove everything from the necropolis for analysis.

@magic-is-something-we-create @did-i-do-this-write @akindofmagictoo @gr3y-heron AMAZING THANK YOU YOU'RE ALL MY FAVORITE PEOPLE EVER :DDDD
So, I went to a railroad museum this weekend (it was fantastic and I learned so much) and it gave me ideas. there is a cut here because this got LONG
So the world herald is in has three main cities that are relevant to the story: Valimore (the main setting), Lutetia (where Blake is from), and the unnamed one that I keep calling fantasy madrid in my head. They have roughly the same train & airship stuff.
They're both modes of transportation for cargo and people, and both are relatively quick. Trains are cheaper, but if you were trying to get over the ocean, you would take an airship, because there aren't any train tracks over the ocean. To get through the mountains, though, you can take either: airships take about a day to get over the biggest mountain range, and trains take two-three to get through the same one.
So, they do basically the same thing, why hasn't one died out, like cars vs horse drawn carriages, you ask? (well, maybe you don't, but let's pretend someone is asking).
BECAUSE sky ships are a very new thing, relatively speaking. they've been around for about 30-40 years. Blake, who's in her late 50s and has been a skyship captain for 20+ years and on the crew of one almost her entire adult life, signed on to one of the first major commercial skyships when she was in her very early 20s. They became very popular very fast, and there's airship docks in nearly every city now. (I'm not completely sure what they look like yet but airship docks look kinda ridiculous, I think. really tall-- OH MY GOD THE CLOCKTOWER SHOULD BE AN AIRSHIP DOCK THATS SUCH A FUN IDEA I LOVE THAT--).
So, the original airship captains were train conductors (like how in real life the first train conductors were steamship captains), and Blake's parents were both train conductors or otherwise employed on trains. this is how she got into it. Neither of her parents worked on skyships but some of their friends did.
Because of this, the command structure and bureaucracy surrounding airships is a lot like that surrounding trains!!!!
AND ALSO BECAUSE they're both for transportation, but different types of transportation!!! trains are used for shorter or medium length voyages, or if you don't need to get somewhere super fast, or if you can't/aren't willing to spend a lot of money on a ticket. skyships are used by people in emergencies, or for longer trips with several stops on the way, or if you're really rich. they aren't used by most of the population, cause they're not practical if you aren't super rich. for this reason, most airships (blake's included) are for cargo transport, mostly perishable goods that need to be moved quickly, or for a few passengers at a time.
there is more to this, but I'm not really sure of what it is concretely and also i need to go and sleep.
also. the car trip I typed most of this on we picked up a cat halfway through, and this is her and I love her and she's now my sister's cat and her name is either orla or french toast and have i mentioned i love her
hey does anyone wanna hear about how trains and airships coexist & interact in the herald at dawn world

talk to me? (spencer reid x fem reader)
genre: fluff
summary: cold nights and warm coffee can be so compelling.
words: 2.2k
warnings: mentions of having intrusive thoughts and spence being insecure, reader and spencer sleeping in the same bed. that’s all i can think of, lmk if there’s anything else!
a/n: yo! so uhhh i kinda love the start of this and dislike the end of it, but idk i think it’s still pretty snazzy!! also SPENCER IN GLASSES HAS MY HEART ok bye enjoy!!
🂦∙🂦∙🂦
It was the type of cold where no matter how brightly the sun was shining, you could still feel the fresh molecules of coolness linger on your skin, hiding under the tip of your nose. It made horribly irritable little dry patches that would have to be remedied with some form of lotion, but that wouldn’t quite return back to complete normal until the end of the winter time.
But despite this, Y/n and Spencer were out and about, doing their jobs in total normalcy.
Minus being stationed in France, that is.
Although it was rare that the BAU was called overseas, Emily had needed the team’s help, and who would they be to decline a trip to the beautiful France, no less to see Prentiss as well.
So after a grueling day of blood and bad-guys, the pair made their way back to their Parisian hotel room, walking (quite wobbily, Y/n would add) along the cobblestone walkways, both of their boots clicking loudly against the rain coated stones.
It was ironic, as Spencer had attempted to wear his converse, but was denied by a worried Y/n, hearing her say “You’re going to get those things soaked, and you’ll freeze your toes right off, Dr. Reid!”
And as not to disappoint the girl, never wanting to see her mood turn as gloomy as the French sky, he complied begrudgingly. Though Y/n could swear she always saw a hint of a smile at her telling off.
Spencer was also advised by her to wear his contacts, to avoid the fogging up of his readers, but he refused, not wanting to bother with said contacts. He grew to regret that as he walked, every so often and reaching a large hand up to wipe his glasses, almost like the wind shield wipers of the bug that had been driving them around.
He chuckled at the not so distant away memories, thankful for the girl and her requests, as it turned out.
The hotel was far different from the usual dingy motels the team usually occupied when traveling, that was for certain. This one happened to be a master suite with ivory walls and silky sheets, quite opposite from the thin and scratchy yellowed covers they usually made do with.
And even though It was early in the day, the mixture of odd sleep schedules and just the heavy weight of sleepiness pressing down heavily on their shoulders, they opted to go to bed at the oh-so late time of 1:37 PM.
Daredevils, those two are.
Ignoring the first bed by the door, Spencer made a beeline for the plush queen size mattress he knew Y/n and himself would be sharing in an effort to cuddle up for warmth, sinking down into it. (After removing his shoes, of course.)
He was originally donned in just a grey Caltech shirt and some blue pajama pants, but due to the chillier weather (that he couldn’t quite seem to shake despite the thermostat in the hotel room being turned up to 76) he layered on a maroon MIT hoodie, one that he was aware Y/n would try to thieve from him, perhaps even sneaking it back in her own suitcase.
Y/n walked out of the bathroom in pale green shorts and a large and worn Led Zeppelin shirt, earning a very confused stare from Spencer. She simply shook her head and continued on her way over to the large window that was currently projected bright streams of melted gold through the glass, that would have been heated if it wasn’t for that damn cold.
“I get warm when I sleep, it bothers me.”
He nodded, watching intently as she opened and shut the blinds a few times, soft krrrrs and clicks sounding through the room as she did.
“You doing alright?” He asked, his eyeline never faltering. She turned and he picked up his copy of “A Farewell To Arms,” something she had been the one to reccomend to him, ranting on and on about Ernest Hemingway and his precious 6 toed cats.
It was one of Spencer’s more realistic goals in life to take Y/n back to Key West to visit the Hemingway House, after her having said a childhood trip there was one of her happiest memories.
He quickly flipped to a random page, not wanting her to catch him being what he considered to be creepy, even though Y/n thought it was quite adorable.
She bit back a giggle and a smile, settling on leaving the window half open half closed. She padded over to where Spencer was, laying back onto what she imagined a cloud would feel like.
She reached over, taking the blue colored book from his hands and his thickly rimmed glasses off from where they were resting on his perfect button nose.
She smiled to herself fondly at the items in her hands, particularly at the novel. She placed them on her bedside table (why hers and not his, Reid wasn’t too sure, but also was not going to complain), and then moved to slide between the slick tightly-tucked sheets.
“Our options were A, not be able to sleep because of Mr. Sun being out right now, or you freezing to death because Mr. Sun was blocked totally by the curtains.”
He looked over at where she had been messing around with the heavy drapes.
“I see you went in between.”
She smiled graciously, which Spencer returned immediately.
“That I did.”
A few more awkward moments of silence (not including the occasional yelling and honking from those riding on motorbikes below) passed, before she finally settled into the sheets.
She turned to the side table to her left and tugged on the chain of the old timey lamp. The room went quiet, but the pair’s minds were anything but.
Y/n’s head was swimming in intrusive thoughts, while Spencer’s was a hazy cloud of self deprecations and his own voice keeping him awake, staring at the painted ceiling.
“Spence?”
“Mmhm?”
“Can you talk to me?”
Spencer’s brows furrowed. He shifted around in the creme sheets of the bed, finding a cold spot quite quickly.
“What do you want me to say?”
Silence.
“Anything.”
She turned over to now be facing the lanky boy, their noses nearly touching. She held her breath, sucking in a bottom lip.
He looked to her eyes, to her lips, and back to her eyes again, quickly gathering a list of things to ramble about.
“Well,” he began, “Paris was originally founded in the 3rd century BC, and was a Roman city called Lutetia, and to prove it, there’s even remains of Roman ruins in the capital. And speaking of monuments, in total, there are 1,803 of them, and 173 museums in Paris alone- Y/n?”
To his surprise, Y/n’’s idea had worked. Spencer looked over to see a sleeping Y/n, a peaceful expression resting upon her features.
He smiled at the idea that he had played some role in that, closing his own eyes. The cloud that was previously keeping him from long awaited slumber was now a light film, nagging at the back of his head quietly.
He simply told the voice to quiet down and was then able to lull himself to sleep, Y/n’s presence calming him to no end.
It wasn’t until 8 hours later that they had woken up, first Spencer, followed by Y/n. She peeked open her eyes, pleasantly surprised by the lack of light shining through the curtains.
She wiggled around, stretching from her neck down to her toes. Spencer smiled at this, finding her resemblance to a cat who had been sunnapping, quite endearing.
She moved to her side, placing a hand under her chin to get a better look at the Doctor who was nearly finished reading her copy of “A Farewell to Arms”.
“Did you at least mark my spot?” She asked, voice raspy from sleep.
He scoffed, flipping to and then showing her the bookmarked page of the story.
“What do you think I am, a monster?”
She chuckled, sitting up next to Spencer.
“I mean, I don’t know, sometimes it seems like it”.
He rolled his eyes, setting down the read and hopping out of bed.
“What are you doing, Spence?” She asked, not amused in the slightest by the idea of having to get out of bed.
“We are going to get coffee.”
She shook her head of messy hair, the wispy bits flowing around her like a halo in the hotel room lighting.
“You can go get us coffee and bring it right back over here, alright? Thanks, you’re a doll.”
He did that thin lipped smile that seems to be his equivalent of a smirk, grabbing a hoodie from the inside of his suitcase that was perched on top of a dresser.
“Come on, we’re going on an adventure. Use this and the idea of coffee as an incentive.”
He tossed her the hoodie, the jacket landing by her feet with an audible plop.
She loudly groaned, shrugging it on and pulling herself out of bed. She also managed to tug on some jeans and an overcoat, as well as her boots, shaking her head at Spencer’s lack of preparation for the cold temperatures, as always.
“Spencer, I am not about to go to this and have you complain about being cold the whole time, put on your coat, please.” She gestured to where it was hanging in the closet with her hand still concealed by her trench coat’s pocket, her eyes shutting and her head lolling to the side.
“If you insist.”
“Yes I do, put it on, lets go.” She said drawing out the “o”.
Spencer’s eyes widened and he lifted his hands in mock surrender. “My apologies, good morning to you too.”
She only rolled her eyes and smiled, opening the door to the room and leading the way.
By the time she had found a coffee shop on Yelp that she had deemed satisfactory, (which was extremely difficult due to the language barrier) the time had passed even later, and the temperature was even lower.
The lights on the streets sparkled, reflecting in the puddles of the water that lined the asphalt. Y/n was quite enchanted by the little light shows, slowing the journey to the shop significantly. Spencer didn’t mind, though, he enjoyed every second he got to spend with her to the absolute fullest, and found her fascination with every part of life inspiring.
When they finally reached the quaint little coffee shop, they walked inside, finding refuge in the warmth of the establishment.
Spencer ordered for them, and Y/n found a table (as that’s what they always did, taking turns between ordering and scouting a place to sit).
She located a cozy little corner by a window, a perfect place to observe those who bustled about at night, watching them and coming up with back stories, whatever they may be.
She enjoyed doing that, it made her believe she had a better understanding of the world around her, why those she works on catching every day behave in the manner they do.
And what better place to do so than Paris?
So she flagged Reid (who now was in possession of the two drinks) over, taking hers from his hand.
“Latte with two creams and 4 sugars for the lady.”
She smiled graciously, allowing the heat of the cup to spread through her system.
“And what did you get? Let me guess, a shot of espresso with 12 sugars?”
Spencer rolled his eyes, not wanting to admit she was more correct than he had hoped.
“Ha ha, very funny, Y/n.”
She smiled over her small mug, quirking a brow.
“Oh, I know.”
He shook his head and glanced out the window with a low chuckle, watching as people from all walks of life went about their business, some with dogs, some with children, some of them even walking along with a cup of coffee in their hands, similarly to Spencer and Y/n. Some of them, in fact, had all three.
As the two sat observing, sipping away at their respective concoctions, Y/n spoke up, her voice soft, although considering they were the only two in the shop, it didn’t need to be.
“Spence?”
“Hmm?”
Only then did she tear her glance away from those on the street, her full focus now on Reid. She admired his bone structure, in awe over the way the soft light reflected off his strong jaw and high cheeks. At that moment, he looked like he belonged in the Louvre.
“Thank you.”
“What for?” He finally looked towards her, his hand never moving from where it was positioned under his chin.
She simply shrugged, wrapping her coat tighter around herself.
He darted his eyes to the table and then her eyes, taking a deep breath. “Well, you’re welcome, I guess.”
She smiled and nodded at once, satisfied with his response.
While she looked out the window once more, she began to wonder about those around her. If they felt the same strong emotions that she did, if they held the same hope and desire for the future that she did.
And as she took another sip from her drink, closing her eyes and slowly was drifting off with the sounds of the city, she could only hope that they did.

Sunset Valley Makeovers: Zelda Mae
I was struggling with Zelda for awhile. I didn't really have any good hair/clothes that I thought would fit the vibe I wanted to go with for her. I actually downloaded this top by @simsandcinnamon just for her, and it looks amazing on her. The jeans are from Lutetia on TSR (You can find all the stuff I used on my cc blog).
Also, regarding her makeup, my original intention was to get rid of the yellow eyeshadow, but then I thought "no wait..." She definitely seems like the type of person who would have really bright and bold colored makeup, so I just used a CC eyeshadow in the same color. And of course, I fixed her eyebrows. Overall, I really like how she turned out.

"Ok we'll send a custodian to clean it up goodbye now" as Charlotte hung up the phone she heard people walking up to the desk
"Hello welcome to Hotel Lutetia how can I help you"
"Yes hello we would like to spend the night in one of your most finest suites" Charlotte recognizing that voice jumped when she looked up and saw Reinhard Heydrich.
"Oh um of course sir" and as she got up to grab room key 137 she remembered a couple was already staying in that room shit she thought the only room left is room 138 but the maids haven't cleaned that room yet but I have to give him a room or I'll probably be shot or worse sent to a camp. So without thinking to hard about it she anxiously grabbed room key 138 and handed it to him and before he left she said
"Have a swell night" but Reinhard continued to walk however the man he came with turned around and replied
"You to miss." Charlotte began to sweat as she typed in the number to the maids breaker room
"Francine I need you to bring as many maids and cleaning supplies as you can"
"Why"
"Well Reinhard Heydrich ask for our finest suite and forgetting room 137 was occupied I gave him room 138"
"Are you an idiot" Francine hissed, Charlotte pinched the bridge of her noise
"Please just hurry up"
"Fine but if I don't make it in time I'm blaming you"
"Ok."
(Pov Switch)
"Ok ladies Reinhard Heydrich is soon going to be on this floor so we have about what maybe 9 minutes to clean room 138 can we do it" all the maids gave a Francine a deer in the headlights look soon running around to grab gloves and other cleaning supplies
"Good" Francine said.
As the maids began to scrub the bathroom floor, sweep the carpet, make the beds, wash the windows, and wipe down the table the door knob was twisted then Reinhard and a man walk in.
"Hello Mister Heydrich"
"What are you doing in my room" Francine glared at the maids to make them stop cleaning
"We were just making sure the room was up to your liking so we prepped it up for you" Reinhard raised his eyebrow
"That's nice now get out"
"Don't be rude Reinhard thank you so much would you like a tip"
"That would be nice but-
Oh don't be modest I insist" and as the man handed her 30 Reichmarks Reinhard grumbled.
"My name is Dieter" Francine starred at her hand in amazement then mumbled
"I'm Francine"
"That's such a beautiful name"
"Thank you" as Francine was pondering what to do next Reinhard interjected
"We appreciate the kind gesture but can all of you get out of my room" Francine whipped her head up
"Yes sir girls let's go" and as the maids plus Francine walked out the room she said
"Wow I can't believe a kraut gave me a tip."
(Pov Switch)
Reinhard closed the door a sigh escaping his mouth
"Finally I can get some rest" but as he turned around he saw Dieter was starting to strip
"What are you doing"
"Reinhard you can't expect me to be comfortable in this do you this is public clothes I need sleepwear." Dieter kicked off his pants then got up to walk to his suitcase bending down to pick out a shirt giving Reinhard a nice view of his plump ass. As Dieter was finishing buttoning down his shirt he felt Reinhard kissing at his neck and squeezing his ass
"I thought you wanted to get some rest" Dieter teased
"Well I also want to finish where we left off at the restaurant" Dieter glanced up at Reinhard smirked then walked away confusing Reinhard. Reinhard watched Dieter in confusion wondering what he was doing as Dieter sat on the bed
"Well Reinhard I don't know if I'm in the mood right now I mean all that time spent at the restaurant and I still didn't get a dessert" and as Dieter was talking he slowly began to peel off his briefs soon getting on his knees and sliding his hands up his thighs stopping at his waist. Reinhard raised his eyebrows biting his lower lip as his bulge started to get noticeable walking over to Dieter he bended down to his eye level then said
"That's because you were misbehaving all day" Dieter bit his bottom lip then sat and as he spread his legs exposing his harden dick he whispered
"Then punished me daddy."
(Pov Switch)
Danielle walked nervously down the hall with the other maids picking at her nails to try and ease her mind
"Do you think he's enjoying the room" Clementine sighed angrily replying with
"For the fourth time Danielle I don't know now will you please stop asking me"
"I'm sorry Clementine it's just I'm so nervous like what if he didn't like the drapes or what if the sheets were to coarse or what if-
Danielle please calm down your going to get a headache and I'm sure if he didn't like the room then he would have called Charlotte to complain" Denise reassured
"Ok I guess your right" but as soon as Danielle put her hands in her pocket she started to panic.
"Oh crap"
"What is it now Danielle" Clementine whined
"I dropped my bracelet in the room"
"How do you know it's in that room" Collette asked
"Because I put it in my pocket so it wouldn't get dirty when I scrubbed the toilet"
"Well let's go get it then" Bernadette said, the maids gave her a bewildered look
"Are you crazy" they said in unison
"No I'm just saying if she wants her bracelet back we should go get it
"Well it's her bracelet why can't she get it" Clemetine grumbled Francine glared at her then walked towards Bernadette grabbing her shoulders and looking her in the eyes
"Bernadette you don't understand how powerful Reinhard is do you" Bernadette tilted her head in confusion then shook her head no
"He could have us sent to a camp for just looking at him wrong if he wanted to." Bernadette giggled at Francine words
"He wouldn't do that because that's a stupid reason to send anybody to a camp now quit being paranoid and let's get Danielle's bracelet" Bernadette walked over to Danielle and grabbed her hand dragging her to room 138 as the other maids followed closely behind. As the maids walked closer to the room they began to hear moaning
"What are they doing in there" Collette asked but she was shushed by the other maids Bernadette put her ear to the door to listen and what she heard made her entire face go red
"Oh fuck yes daddy right there"
"You like that whore"
"Oh yes daddy"
"You fucking slut you love daddy's cock don't you huh nobody can fuck you and make you whine like I can can they"
"No daddy"
"Good, little bitch." Bernadette quickly lifted her head and covered her face and as the maids bombarded her with questions she said three words
"They're having sex" making all the maids shut up, they all looked at the door a blush covering their faces then Clementine interjected
"I guess they are enjoying the room."
(Time skip and Pov Switch)
Reinhard woke up to the sun's rays hitting his eyes so stretching the tiredness out of his bones he felt something hugging his side and as he looked down to see Dieter's naked form snuggled to his side he smiled. Surprised by the knock he heard from the door he grunted
"Who the hell would be awake at 6 am in the morning" Reinhard asked then chuckling when realizing he was awake at 6 am in the morning. So walking to his suitcase Reinahard grabbed a pair of boxers put it on then walked to the door
"Hello"
"Oh uh hello you probably don't remember me but I'm Danielle one of the maids that was in your room last night"
"Yeah what about it" Danielle was about to answer when she heard someone yawning
"Who's at the door Reinhard"
"One of the maids from last night
" What does she want" Reinhard turned his head back towards Danielle
"What do you want" Daniellle gulped
"My bracelet"
"She says her bracelet" Dieter stretched then said
"Oh I can get for her where is it"
"Where is it" Reinhard questioned
"In the bathroom"
"She says in the bathroom"
"Oh ok" Dieter began moving the sheets off his body as Reinahard remembered that he was naked so in a panic he slammed the door scaring Danielle and Dieter.
"Why did you slam the door"
"Your naked" Dieter looked down realizing that he was in fact naked and as a blush formed on his cheeks he giggled
"Thanks" Reinhard amused by the situation began to chuckle
"No problem." Dieter walked to the bathroom, Reinhard eyes exploring his body, soon walking out with a robe and a bracelet in his hand he trailed to the door then open it
"This is your bracelet right" Danielle inspected Dieter's body blushing when she noticed he was just wearing a robe then looked up shaking her head yes
"Well here you go and sorry about slamming the door in your face"
"No problem" she mumbled, Reinhard stepped in front of Dieter
"Well if that'll be all have a good morning" He said before closing the door. Dieter shocked by his actions punched his arm
"Reinhard that was extremely rude why did you do that" Reinhard unfazed by the hit turned around grabbed Dieter's waist then threw him over his shoulder resulting in Dieter hitting and screaming profanities at him however Reinhard still unfazed threw Dieter on the bed then crawled right next to him pulling the sheets over Dieter and his self. Reinhard tried pulling down him to his side but Dieter slapped his hand away and crossed his arms anger evident on his face
"I'm serious Heydrich I want to know why" Reinhard sighed an annoyed look on his face
"I didn't like the way she was looking at you" Dieter blushed at his words
"What"
"I didn't enjoy knowing her eyes were starring at your naked body" Dieter processed what he said smiling when he understood soon crawling over to Reinhard and straddling him
"What are you doing Dieter" Reinhard asked, but he didn't answer he just slowly began to take the robe off, throwing it to the side, smirking he started to grind. Reinhard sat up leaning on his elbows a wolfish grin plastered on his face as his hands slid up and down Dieter's thighs soon finding his ass. Reinhard got up then putting his lips to Dieter's ear he whispered
"Tell daddy what he wants to hear" pushing him to lie down Reinhard began to leave a trail of kisses down his body stopping between his legs to look at him. Biting his lower lip Dieter said
"Nobody can pleasure me like daddy can" satisfied with his answer Reinhard kissed his dick then mumbled
"Good boy."
(Time skip Pov Switch)
As Charlotte was checking the schedule to see who was coming in today she heard foot steps looking up it was Reinhard Heydrich and the man he brought with him
"Thank you for the room we enjoyed staying the night"
"Oh no problem" and as the man handed her the room key she tilted her head then asked
"Why are you wearing that scarf it's not cold out." The man jumped at her question a blush spreading through his entire face as Reinhard smirked and in a panic voice he responded with
"Oh um I thought it looked nice so I put it on"
"Oh ok" Reinhard began to chuckle as he put 400 Reichsmarks on the countertop and as he and the man turned towards to the door Reinhard smacked the man ass earning a squeaked from him confusing Charlotte even more.

Close encounters: planning for extra Hera flyby
ESA - European Space Agency patch. 20 February 2019 ESA’s proposed Hera mission will already visit two asteroids: the Didymos binary pair. The Hera team hopes to boost that number by performing a flyby of another asteroid during the mission’s three-year flight.
Hera
The opportunity arises because Hera will be flying out to match Didymos’ 770-day orbit, which circles from less than 10 million km from Earth to out beyond Mars, at more than double Earth’s distance from the Sun. In the process Hera will pass both multiple near-Earth asteroids and the inner edge of the main Asteroid Belt. Initial studies at ESA’s European Space Operations Centre have turned up dozens of candidate asteroids across different mission scenarios.
Didymos orbit
“Ideally we would like a flyby of another binary asteroid, to enable comparisons with Didymos,” explains ESA’s Hera project scientist, Michael Küppers. “We would choose something of a different taxonomic type from the S-type asteroids like Didymos. We would also prefer a larger object: its greater size would allow us to resolve it meaningfully from further away.” Take as an example one body researchers would like to see: the 2121 Sevastopol binary pair in the inner belt has an 8.6 km diameter main body with a 3.5 km diameter moon.
Asteroids in the Solar System
This system is a member of the poorly understood ‘Flora’ family of main belt stony asteroids, produced by a collision event a relatively recent 100 million years ago – theorised to be associated with the Chicxulub impact that killed the dinosaurs. The next step would be to create a shortlist of targets, which could then be the subject of ground-based observations to determine more about their properties and sharpen knowledge of their orbits before Hera’s launch in late 2023. ESA’s Rosetta comet-chaser performed two asteroid flybys as it passed through the main belt during its decade-long flight to comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko, passing the 5-km diameter diamond-shaped 2867 Šteins and the mammoth 120-km diameter 21 Lutetia.
European Space Operations Centre
“To make flybys happen, we have to know where our trajectory will pass relatively close to asteroids if we do nothing,” notes Michael Khan, heading Mission Analysis at ESA’s Flight Dynamics division. “Then we tweak the trajectory to make a specific difference to that distance, bringing us much closer. “With Rosetta we had a lot of capability, because it was a large spacecraft with extra fuel in in the tanks to get the mission back on track in case something went wrong. Plus we were performing lots of gravity-assist flybys around Earth and Mars, and massaging those flybys slightly gave us a lot of freedom to manoeuvre.
Šteins asteroid
“Hera is not Rosetta, however: this will be a smaller mission with a shorter cruise phase and lower performance limits. We will still try, but the constraints are such that we won’t know for certain which asteroids we could target until after Hera’s launch. It will come down to what day within Hera’s launch window that we take off, and also the precision of that take-off – it is possible that any extra fuel earmarked for asteroid flybys might be needed to fine-tune our trajectory to Didymos. But any flyby would be an excellent opportunity to boost Hera's science return even further.”” To compare the two missions, Rosetta was lorry-sized, while Hera will be the scale of a desk. But any asteroid flyby would benefit its end mission as well as offering plentiful bonus science.
Lutetia asteroid
Michael Küppers was also part of the Rosetta team: “These hours-long asteroid flybys were quite dramatic events, and our opportunity to try out our scientific instruments and obtain scientific results from these unknown objects, preparing for our main goal of 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko.”
Hera mission
Hera’s lead scientist Patrick Michel, CNRS Director of Research of France’s Côte d'Azur Observatory, hopes Hera would indeed achieve a flyby: “Any object would be valuable. Each time we’ve encountered a new asteroid we’ve discovered something unexpected.” Hera, Europe’s contribution to an international planetary defence experiment, is currently under study to be presented for approval by ESA’s Space19+ Council meeting of European space ministers. The Early History and Foundation of Paris, France
Guiding the California-based KasLen Textiles as the CEO, David Raminfard supplies a selection of upholstery and drapery fabrics in a wide range of colors and types. An avid traveler, David Raminfard has visited locations across North America and Europe.
Among the most iconic European cities is Paris, the origins of which go back to the third century BCE. During this period, the Parisii, a Celtic tribe, created a fishing village on present-day Ile de la Cite in the River Seine. In 52 BCE, this settlement was conquered by the Roman Empire. It subsequently grew into the Roman town of Lutetia and expanded to encompass more territory. The city officially adopted the name Paris sometime between the fourth and fifth century.
Governance by the Roman Empire continued until the fifth century when a Frankish tribe captured Paris. Clovis I, the first Frankish king, then selected the city as his emergent empire’s capital. Paris and its surrounding territories became feudalized in the following decades, but political stability returned with the emergence of the Capetian dynasty in the late 900s. Capetian kings rapidly expanded Paris’ population and commerce and provided the foundation for the city’s future.

Want To See The Real Paris? Walk This Way.
Stretching more than 320 miles, the Greater Paris Trail highlights the city’s myriad facets, from architectural showstoppers to everyday treasures, far from crowds.
— By Mary Winston Nicklin | June 24, 2022
Each year millions of visitors flock to Paris with itineraries centered on a three-mile stretch along the Seine River, flanked by renowned monuments: Notre-Dame cathedral, the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower. But there’s much more to the French capital than such familiar postcard sights.
Greater Paris, with a population of 11 million, is one of the biggest cities in Europe. As such, it offers a world of discovery beyond the Boulevard Périphérique, the ring road completed in 1973 that has become as much a mental barrier as a thoroughfare, shrinking Paris to a Seine-centric perspective.
A project called the Sentier du Grand Paris (“Greater Paris Trail”) helps break down this barricade, enlarging the map to suburban places often overlooked—or misunderstood—by both visitors and locals. Inaugurated in 2020 after three years of mapping, this network of urban hiking trails now stretches more than 320 miles in 39 stages, or sections, throughout greater Paris, each designed as a day hike.

Detailed in a (French) guidebook and the Avenza Maps app, the sections are in the shape of a clover and easily accessed by metro and suburban RER trains. In fact, the Sentier’s creation coincides with the ambitious public transport expansion known as the Grand Paris Express, slated for completion in 2030 at an estimated cost of 23 billion euros.
The trail was the brainchild of a philosophical quartet: Jens Denissen (urbanist and landscape designer), Denis Moreau (artist), Baptiste Lanaspeze (book publisher), and Paul-Hervé Lavessière (urbanist geographer). As part of Metropolitan Trails, the project aims to create a new type of public space, “an open-air cultural center,” via urban hiking.
“Walking is both a way of discovering a place and also being part of its fabric,” explains Denissen, who’s led collective public walks in the suburbs since 2014. With a sense of curiosity and observation, the walker can perceive the extraordinary in the ordinary. “It’s a process of permanent exploration.”
As a Paris resident, I’ve embraced walking as both a pastime and practicality. But I had never kept hiking beyond the beltway. Walking portions of the Sentier over the course of several months, I discovered that the trail prompts us to rethink the long-standing historical narrative about Paris’ origin story on the Île de la Cité, the island in the Seine where the Romans established the city of Lutetia atop a settlement built by the Parisii tribe.
After the archeological discovery of a prominent Celtic site in Nanterre, some scholars argue that the Celtic capital was not in present-day Paris—but in today’s suburbs.
A Walk Through History
On each hike I traversed the centuries, the Sentier illuminating a cross section of French history and society. Place names themselves allude to antiquity: the river Marne has Celtic origins, as does Créteil, later absorbed into Latin under the Romans.
I saw a mosaic of landscapes peopled by diverse communities and studded with innovative architecture, from the Palace of Versailles (17th century) to architect Emile Aillaud’s noodle-like Les Courtillières housing complex in Pantin (1950).
On Stage 20, I explored the medieval Chateau de la Madeleine, a fortified hilltop castle overlooking Chevreuse village and the bucolic countryside. On Stage 9, I learned about the transformative effects of industrialization on what had been a major hub in the Middle Ages through sites like Basilica Saint-Denis.

The centuries-old necropolis for the French monarchs was the birthplace of Gothic architecture and the inspiration for Notre-Dame cathedral. Even earlier, the fertile Plaine Saint-Denis was an important gathering place for Celtic tribes. “Historically it was central and now it’s been marginalized,” explains Denissen.
On Stage 11, I walked sidewalks, Marne-side footpaths beneath weeping willows, and even pedestrian tunnels under autoroutes to discover the École du Breuil. Tucked at the eastern end of the Bois de Vincennes park, this 19th-century training academy for the city’s gardeners holds magnificent gardens facing the Paris Arboretum with hundreds of tree species.
But Stage 24 became my favorite. I began the day at Josephine Bonaparte’s Château de Malmaison, the lovely country estate the empress shared with Napoleon. Following the Seine, I passed the shuttered paper factory once famous for printing Le Petit Parisien (the world’s biggest circulation newspaper with 1,300,000 copies in 1904), now being converted into an eco-friendly business district called the Campus Arboretum.
From Nanterre University, the heart of France’s 1968 student uprising, the path leads through the Parc André-Malraux, constructed in 1971 on what had been a slum inhabited by Algerian workers, and concludes at the monumental Grande Arche in the skyscraper bastion of La Défense.
An extension of the historic axis of Paris, just to the west of the Arc de Triomphe, this arch, a “window open to the world,” took 2,000 workers four years to build. It was inaugurated in 1989 for the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution.
Mapping The Megalopolis
During the surveying process (the step before plotting the map), the Sentier’s founders worked with local communities to ascertain the best route and sites to include. “It wasn’t just a line on a map,” explains Denissen. “An important dimension was the story of the people we met along the way.”
“We called it the grande caravane,” Lavessière says of the survey process. It had morphed to include photographers, journalists, and sound designers who embarked on two-day expeditions to trace hypothesized sections of the Sentier, testing and modifying the route as they went.
Two people in a rowboat enjoy an afternoon in Lac Daumesnil, an artificial lake in Bois de Vincennes park. Hikers can pick up the Sentier on the eastern edge of the park, where it traverses the Paris Arboretum. Photograph By Olivier Djiann, Getty Images
The first version of the map was a triangle connecting Saint-Denis, Creteil, and Versailles. It was enlarged to include the five so-called Villes Nouvelles (New Towns), symbols of the region’s 20th-century urban development representing the dawn of Greater Paris. A utopian effort to create self-functioning cities in the suburbs and thereby contain sprawl, the New Towns were linked by the newly built RER trains.
The final Sentier map is shaped like a trilobe, the three interlocking arcs paying homage to both the Celtic origins of Paris and medieval Gothic architecture found along the route. Soon the Sentier team will create trail links into the heart of Paris at Châtelet-Les Halles—a central train hub connecting several lines. There’s hope that signage, despite the administrative challenges, could eventually be added on the trails.
Along the way, the Sentier exalts the history of hiking culture by crossing other paths, including the Grande Randonnée (GR) routes that traverse France. “We make an open door to existing trails as a tribute to the hike and its history. Hiking was invented in the 19th century as a way of getting out of the industrial city, by [community] groups like ‘Les Excursionnistes’ in Marseille who would go to the Calanques [a national park],” says Denissen.
The Sentier builders also found inspiration in 20th-century figures, such as American land artist Robert Smithson, who organized guided industrial tours of New York, and the Stalker collective, which began exploring the abandoned wastelands around Rome in the 1990s.
The Real Paris
Over time as Paris grew, it externalized its functions: defensive fortifications in war, agricultural fields for food, and death itself as graveyards were moved outside the city limits. As such, the Sentier doesn’t shy away from the industry and infrastructure that has made Paris what it is today: the highways, Napoleon’s canal system, the factories.
There’s a philosophical approach in encouraging walkers to rekindle the connection to what’s around us. In some ways it’s also political. “Walking is a way of taking care of this land, raising consciousness of hidden natural areas … pondering how to protect fertile fields from mega development,” says Denissen.
It was under Baron Haussmann in the 19th century that urban planning incorporated reflection about the city’s metabolic life: a new sewer system channeled wastewater to fertilize fields on the Plaine Saint-Denis, while aqueducts carried fresh water from sources far away.
One fine spring day on the Sentier I found myself walking for the first time next to the Vanne Aqueduct south of Paris. In its design, engineer Eugène Belgrand was inspired by ancient Roman aqueducts, a straight stone conduit channeling water for more than 107 miles from Burgundy.
The aqueduct slices through the landscape, much like the trains speeding Paris-bound passengers through the “ride-over” country of the suburbs. But on that day, I was in no hurry as I strolled alongside the looping stone arches of the 19th-century landmark. Flowers and plants had taken root beside it, yet another example of how beauty, history, and industry merge on these trails.

A Wood Engraving Staff Pick of the Week
At Sutton Hoo Press, established by poet Chad Mikal Oness during his time at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, fine press books are released on Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, and Memorial Day each year. For Thanksgiving 2002, Oness and Michigan artist and wood engraver Ladislav Hanka worked together to create an edition of The Book of Ruth with eight wood engravings. Ruth tells the story of the titular Moabite woman who decides to accept the god of the Israelites and her embracing of the Israelite people as her own. Amongst Jewish converts, this book is incredibly popular due to its subject matter and also contains themes about inter-religious marriages and the complexities of Jewish religious law associated with conversion and the acceptance of converts within the religion.
An avid beekeeper, Lad Hanka includes one of his signature bees on page 25. The book was hand-printed in Winona, Minnesota at the Sutton Hoo Press in an edition of 100 copies using handset Lutetia types. The long-stitch binding was done in-house in a handmade flax paper case from Cave Paper.

Family Friendly Hotels in Paris: Family Friendly Hotel Reviews: 10Best

Family Friendly Hotels in Paris: Family Friendly Hotel Reviews: 10Best
Traveling with the family is what memories are made of. True ? To help make sure that those memories are good ones, I’ve put together this list of family friendly Paris hotels which includes iconic properties like Hotel Lutetia, Hotel du Jeu de Paume on the Ile St. Louis and the sport motif Molitor Hotel. These will get you off on the right foot. Accommodations set the tone for your vacation experience, after all. Making sure that Mom, Dad and the kids are all comfortable and like the neighborhood goes a long way in assuring that the rest of the vacation will be smooth and stress-free.
Here you’ll find accommodations that offer a homey type of feel. A kitchenette and a living room are great for gathering the family together in the morning, for coffee and croissants or in the afternoon after a day of sightseeing and museums. Luxury hotels can also be a good way to go. Many of the best ones in the city have a sort of friendly competition with each other about who welcomes families the best, particularly making the kids feel as much like prized guests as their parents. If you’re not staying at a palace hotel, services such as babysitting may still be offered. Above all, I’ve kept to the city center (mostly) as that’s where the easy bus and metro lines are. Public transportation in Paris can be a fun game or sport for the kids. So be sure to get them on board !
If you’ve never had a chance to discover Ile St. Louis, it is a particular side of Paris within Paris. First of all, it is the oldest inhabited area of the city, and at one point was referred to as the ‘island of cows.’ That was centuries ago, though, before the aristocrats of the kings’ courts moved in and built their grand, stately mansions. Today, it is populated by tourists and locals alike. There are only a few hotels in this ‘heart of Paris’ neighborhood. This one, particularly, is a landmark, since it still houses the oldest tennis court known in Paris. Legend has it that even King Louis XIII used to come and play here.
Recommended for Family-Friendly Hotels because: This is the oldest – and last standing – ancient tennis court in Paris from King Louis XIII’s era.

Enter into the world of this very French hotel, starting with its inviting garden courtyard, and you enter into a world where bespoke and custom-tailored are the guiding principles of your stay. For families traveling, the duplex rooms are a good option, as well as asking for one of the dozen of rooms that connect, creating family suites. The concierge here is full of ideas for activities with the kids, whether that’s suggesting a river cruise on the Seine or day excursions visiting Palais de la Découverte, Grande Galerie de l’Evolution, Jardin d’Acclimatation, La Villette, Jardin du Luxembourg and many other kid-friendly Paris places. For a very special experience, you might want to ask for the rooms that have exclusive access to their private garden. This is a great luxury in this location where you are in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Recommended for Family-Friendly Hotels because: Duplex rooms that connect and transform into family suites, make for a comfortable stay here in the heart of St. Germain-des-Prés.

When you’re booking your stay in Paris for a few days,a few weeks or even a few months, this is your absolute best option. Each of these apartment-sized hotel rooms is located on its own private floor. Meaning, 7 floors, 7 apartments. The sizes range from a studio to a two-storey master duplex. The Marais location could not be better, just across the way from the Ile St. Louis and with both Place des Vosges and Centre Pompidou within a few minutes walk. And now there’s even Scarlett Johansson’s YumPop popcorn shop two doors down. But topping even this is the sheer luxury that daily maid service is provided: linens are changed, dishes are washed and bath amenities refreshed. For family members traveling together or with kids, this could not be more ideal. And for honeymooners, this is hands down the most romantically cosy option in central Paris.
Recommended for Family-Friendly Hotels because: A full luxury option affordable for families, too. The warm welcome by staff and the owner puts this property in a class of its own.

A 5-star luxury hotel in the heart of Paris, this hotel has the added advantage of being nestled up against the Palais Royal. When celebrated interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon refurbished it, he preserved the quintessence of its Parisian chic by designing around the original forged iron staircase while preserving the historical heritage architecture and building façade. The top-floor rooms’ and suites’ panoramic views sweep across the city from the Sacre-Cœur to the Eiffel Tower. Noble décor materials include Calacatta marble for the bathrooms, Tai Ping rugs, Saarinen chairs and tables by Knoll and Zuber wall-coverings. The location of this hotel is unparalleled and the views from its rooftop, where its beehives are kept, are legendary. Empress Eugénie stayed here every year from 1898 to 1919. When you stay here with the kids, they will have the Tuilerie Gardens, the Louvre and the Place Vendôme all at their feet. It’s a luxury hotel that also plays its central role during Paris fashion weeks, as its ornate meeting halls make for Top Model worthy backdrops for runway shows. Other amenities for families are 50% reduction on the second room or an extra bed offered in the parents’ room. Family breakfast every morning and essentials for the small ones like bottle-warmer, highchair and children’s menus. You can also request late check-out, after 4pm nap time. Be sure to ask for the Family Offer when you check in.
Recommended for Family-Friendly Hotels because: Their treasure box for kids is a winner: mini-me slippers, bathrobe, honey treats, a film and a bee plushtoy or bere to keep.

This hotel has retained its name from when the Duke of Westminster used to stay here. The hotel still exudes that charm from another era. There is something cozy about this place that is difficult to put your finger on. There are glitzier hotels – though not glitzier locations, as this hotel is located in Place Vendôme – but not many that make you feel wrapped up in a welcoming cocoon like this one does. Breakfast is served in their gastronomic restaurant Le Céladon, and is a good sturdy English breakfast, complete with kippers and stewed tomatoes. Their Duke’s bar is a good place for the family to gather around the piano and listen to the local crooners. And one of the best things of all, the rooms are spacious, like they were back at the turn of the century.
Recommended for Family-Friendly Hotels because: Rooms are comfortable and spacious and the hotel has retained its cozy, welcoming graciousness from when the Duke of Westminster used to stay here.

Sometimes you want a hotel that feels like a home. This is often the case when you are traveling with the kids or with mom and dad. Hotel Résidence des Arts, with its kitchenette-equipped deluxe rooms, feels like more like a home where you get maid service, too. The lobby is actually at the sister hotel across the street so once you’re checked in, you needn’t even pass through any lobby. The kitchenettes are basic but offer a hot plate, microwave and small refrigerator so you can, if you feel like it, prepare a simple meal and enjoy it with your family members. Older kids will love the area with its festive vibe that is the St. Michel student area of Paris. And no matter what your age, you will undoubtedly be awed by being a two minute walk from Notre Dame. Very convenient for Sunday morning mass.
Recommended for Family-Friendly Hotels because: Exposed wood-beam ceilings, large apartment-like rooms and small kitchenettes make this a home-away-from-home kind of hotel.

The sparkling palace that is now part of The Set Hotels fleet, this Rive Gauche landmark is bustling and welcoming. It’s one of the few really luxurious properties on the Left Bank and its proximity to the iconic Le Bon Marche department store and its adjacent gourmet food shop extravaganza, Le Grand Epicerie, makes the setting not only central for shopping but practical, too. Nearby museums are the Musee d’Orsay and the Musee Bourdelle. And, of course, the Jardin du Luxembourg is just a short stroll away. This property is not just family/ kid friendly, it is also pet friendly. There are several on-site bars and the street-facing brasserie has once again become the place to meet in this trendy neighborhood, just as it was in decades past, before the recent head-to-toe renovations.
Recommended for Family-Friendly Hotels because: The Akasha Spa offers a haven of tranquility and a zone in which to refresh. It is the only one of its kind in France.

A sleek cocoon with the comfort of a 5-star hotel, the MGallery Molitor (Accor) suites and rooms offer the experience of being somewhere other than in the city while still remaining in Paris. Molitor is a listed historical landmark and its legendary pools were quite the place to be for artists and avant-gardists in the 20s and 30s. There are six pool suites and two junior suites with terraces. The pool suites overlook the famous main feature of this property, which is the historical pools (there is one winter and one summer pool). Street art is a big thematic here and the property is festooned with it. You can book a ‘gallery tour’ of the changing cabins-cum-micro-galleries in the winter pool, a great afternoon activity with the kids. The evolving art installations that have been created for the hotel are for purchase, with all proceeds going directly to the artists.
Recommended for Family-Friendly Hotels because: Headquarters during the annual French Open, Molitor attracts all kinds of athletes year-round. The spa, pools and street art decor make it family friendly.

A dedicated butler sees to your every whim, round-the-clock, from the moment you check-in. Amenities also include one of Paris’s largest hotel swimming pools, which adjoins the one-of-a-kind Shiseido USpa. Upon arrival, children are gifted a treasure map to search for the hotel’s mascot, a ladybug (which, everyone knows, brings good luck). Dignified Luxury. This term refers to Fouquet’s Leading Green Certification ethics and its philosophy that the environment need not be abandoned in the quest for luxury. Step foot inside this historical icon located where the Avenue George V meets the Champs-Elysées and you would never guess that the sumptuous gold-and-velvet Jacques Garcia designs surrounding you are sustainably certified. Fouquet’s is synonymous with French film stars. Each year the winners of the Cesar’s, France’s “Oscar’s”, are féted here with a gala dinner. But back in horse-and-buggy days, it was simply the chosen watering hole of the Champs-Elysées carriage drivers.
Recommended for Family-Friendly Hotels because: There are always activities planned here for the kids – From special brunches to Mom-and-me spa treatments to treasure hunts for the hotel’s ladybug mascot.

“My Ki- Husband. Sealabhach Lutetia. It’s.. Well. Lutetian. Shay-luv-vach. It means ‘Prosperous one.’ They were sure I was well aware of his portents when we married.” She brought the cup to her nose, and inhaled the scent before she took a sip.
“He made me a boat. It was a beautiful little sea vessel, with a swanna just like my Hero for a figurehead. All carved from one piece of wood. Beautiful knotwork along the side. The man I knew is dead, isn’t he?”
~*~❄~*~
Melony hummed as she nodded. One of those people. People who liked flaunting their wealth. She knew the type, she had seen her fair share of them in her career as an opera singer.
Her eyebrows rose at the mention of a boat, though. “Wow. Was it like, a real boat or just something to show off?” Melony wasn’t sure what to make of the remark that followed, though. Was it metaphorical or literal? Her new friend was rather cryptic...
@eternallyrisen
Curling her stiff fingers around the warm cup of tea she'd paid for, the brunette sighed. The weight of the day, and the chill of the town, were heavy in her face. Cabled wool kept Verlie's body warm but it didn't do much to elevate the cold her latest encounter with her ex husband had instilled in her.
"And he just- Ugh. He rubbed his seat and wiped it on me. I do understand that his mind isn't what it used to be, but the level of disrespect has been getting worse each time I manage to catch him."
She spoke to the other woman, sitting across the cafe table from her with her own warm cup. "And I don't mean to just nag all the time, but there's so little of the man I knew left. I think he turns specifically to avoid talking to me. He's courteous to others, just not me. Even though I spend weeks travelling to find him."
Another sigh and she takes a sip of her drink, letting the warm water and herbs soothe her. "But what of you, Melony. How has your week been?"

It’s time to check the real 3 tasty reasons why everyone should visit the Aeolian Islands at least once in a lifetime, so let’s read the below selection and update your bucket list!
What are the reasons why you should visit the Aeolian Islands?
The sailing itineraries for the Aeolian Islands that start from Milazzo, Portorosa and Capo d’Orlando, usually begin stopping in Vulcano (the first island on your way to the Archipelago), Lipari, the biggest one and then Salina, called “the green island”.
Each Island and actually each bay, can reveal exquisite local dishes to taste and share with your loved ones. As the Archipelago is composed by seven extremely beautiful volcanic islands, the fact is that there are too many spots and restaurants on our list! When we refer to Sicily and Sicilian Islands, we always have to talk about islander cuisine and traditions.
Here’s our expert selection of reasons why you definitively have to visit (and taste) the Aeolian Islands:
We selected two not to be missed places in Lipari and Salina, the biggest islands of the Aeolians and also a unique experience to enjoy aboard a luxury yacht that is based there:
Pane Cunzato at Alfredo restaurant in Salina
Ristorante Filippino in Lipari
The cuisine aboard Lutetia
Taste the “pane cunzato” at Alfredo Restaurant, in Salina
Known all over the world for its delicious taste, local and zero kilometers ingredients, the pane cunzato is a traditional recipe of the Aeolian Islands. Apparently simple to prepare and incredibily tasty.
And so, what is the pance cunzato? And why is it one of the reasons to visit the Aeolian Islands?
The pane cunzato is a seasoned bread, prepared with fresh bread and fresh ingredients.
Here’s one of the best known recipes:
2 loaves of bread
5 Pachino tomatoes
Origan
Primo sale cheese
Tomato pate
Capers and cucunces
Olives
Eggplant in oil
Extra virgin olive oil
Book a table at “Ristorante Filippino” in Lipari
After a stop for swimming at Lipari stacks, between Vulcano and Lipari, surely a slight pang may come. Don’t panic. When you are hungry in South Italy, you never have to worry. Especially if you are lucky enough to be aboard a yacht charter in the Aeolian Islands.
If you want to be sure to have a 360 ° sensory experience and to taste fresh and carefully prepared dishes, kindly ask to your crew members to suggest you the best restaurants of Lipari. With no doubts, the advice will be to immediately book a table at Filippino, in Lipari.
And so, what are the recommended dishes on Filippino’s menu? Are they really one of the reasons why visiting the Aeolian Islands?
The menu of Ristorante Filippino offers an infinite choice of appetizers and main courses to choose from. The chef allows his guests to eat both fish and meat dishes, assuring you a memorable taste experience.
Here’s our favorites from the menu:
Caponata in the old ways
