I can't really say much about hypersexuality as i have no experience with it, and it's been a while since I read the Underlust comic.

One thing I have to say, I don't think NSFWShamecave probably didn't intent to portray SPECIFICALLY hypersexuality? From my understanding at least it doesn't seem like it.

Despite the way monsters behave being similar to hypersexuality, I believe the creator was trying to portray something that they believed was fictional. (The lore reason being the fact that everyone's injected with an aphrodisiac.)

And that's where a lot of the issues come from.

I will have to say, it was a genuine attempt by someone to make something with serious lore out of an AU with origins that are hard to take seriously. I would blame it on age, but I'm just gonna go on a limb and say someone with the username NSFWShamecave was at least 18 back then.

Regardless, it's not a story that's easy to tell. Even with genuine intentions, their story- you can tell it wasn't made by someone who knows their stuff.

Additionally, it seems like a kind of AU where the creator thought 'designs first, lore after'.

Which isn't a bad thing on it's own! It's interesting to already have a point in the story that the characters are at and think "okay, how did they reach it". But the creator didn't execute it well.

There's also the 'love fixes everything' vibes I remember getting with Papyton with what happened to Mettaton.

The AU itself feels kinda puritan, with Frisk needing to show the monsters true love as if they've never had it before. It feels extremely reminiscent of the internet's culture at the time, especially the Undertale fandom. I remember being very active on Wattpad at the time, and I remember on there... It was treated jokingly, but we did call anything sexual 'sin' and shamed people for being into it (12 year olds like I was SHOULDN'T be into it, but still...)

Not to mention... Chara. Obviously the character who was the fandom's genocide scapegoat, who was seem as evil back then, is gonna be made weirdly lustful. Good thing they aged them up, I'm glad this creator didn't try to dive into child hypersexuality (while it does exist, someone with those views on sexuality would not have handled that very well, and they would have received more scrutiny), but giving them the soul trait of Lust? That was probably not the best way of explaining why everyone is horny.

In short:

The main issues are that the creator was portraying a real issue bad because they didn't know it was real, and that the creator wasn't all that experienced in writing stories (and designed most characters other than Mettaton and Frisk without a story for them in mind).

As for Lust Sans himself, I didn't really answer that question specifically very well, did I?

Firstly, he suffers from what most characters in the story do.

Additionally, as a Sans, I'm gonna have to think about him in the context of the multiverse.

His portrayal is what happens when an already not too well executed idea is brought towards a bunch of kids.

Of course there were older people in the fandom, but I say the majority of us were not the intended demographic for the AU.

And kids, especially in today's day and age, are notorious for wanting to seem mature and therefore portray stuff for adults, but at the end of the day, we weren't and we couldn't.

So Lust, in especially the early fandom's eyes, was reduced to "non-consensual flirt bordering on rapist".

I do have my own version of the AU, slightly altered. So far it's just lore from the AU itself instead of individual characters or story. I wasn't really planning on doing much with it, and I made it before voicing my own criticism, so it doesn't really address more than the Chara sexualization. Feel free to read it if you're curious though!

Transcript: Anon who complained about underlust being bad at being horny. Reread it for the first time in a while and I still stand by my original statement of it being bad. mettatons story is...fine. it's mid. Nothing revolutionary like some people on reddit were claiming to be. And it is the only reddeming part of this au. I'm little annoyed that I was tricked into giving it a chance but I guess I shouldn't be surprised since it WAS alot of undertale fans first experience with that in media so the bar was actually in hell. I do have another complaint to add! I don't like how asexuality is handled in this universe as the apparent opposite of hypersexuality and as a hypersexual ace I find it really weird that the only reason the ghost are asexual is because they weren't affected by the lust bullshit. I'm still keeping them as ace and mettaton is remaining as sex repulsed in my hypothetical rewrite but that's more out of spite and me wanting to write ace characters than actual respect to the au. I'm also making sans, muffet and grillby ace because I can. Toriel is demi and undyne is butch now because I refuse to acknowledge her underlust design.

I like the papyton in the au but I don't like how the au glosses over the consent issues it gave papyrus. Maybe I'm just too woke but him falling in love with his clients and giving them gifts afterwards and expecting a relationship is weird. Sw is a complicated subject to explore but I don't like how the au treats him like the 'Poor baby' for expecting more from his clients. That shits weird and he's a grown man in this au. Idc if he's lonely and falls in love easy it's weird that he keeps doing the same thing and getting all sad when it's not reciprocated! It's giving men who fall in love with camgirls and bother them with gifts and expect a relationship. It's creepy fullstop.

Oh I am a massive fan of Underlust, to the point that I used to be an og fan before I lost interest for a few years! To answer your questions in order:

1. Oh that would be Mettaton! I always loved his style and I found it a fun twist on his og sef. In times he feels like a...mirror of being just an outsider to the world's culture.

2. I honestly don't really think of Bitties, they are cute to see but otherwise I am ambivalent about them as a concept. Tho I will say tiny any Papyrus is adorable

3. I am a multi shipper at heart and you could probably throw any ship at me and I'd go "Cute!"(Even taboo ones tbh). Currently though Lustmare and Lustink have my mind for Sans. For Papyrus I'd have to go for Papyton, it's a good ship but I also just don't know alot of options for him. Thinking about it though, Charm(that's his nickname right?) and Edge could be cute.

4. And favourite fanfic? Well I have to recommend "I Lust You" by RiceBallEnby! It's a fic about Lust joining Nightmare's gang and how he navigates that along with future romantic developments. It's a BSP fic and so far it is also adhering to the Canon Underlust while excellently expanding on it! 15/10 would recommend.

I'm bored so I wanna drop some info on my versions of the Underlust skele sibs.

Rose/Paps-

Rose is an interesting one to talk about. As much as I love Papyton, I don't think they'd work out in UL. I think they'd be better off as friends ngl, mostly for Mettaton's sake. I also make Rose transgender (ftm). His music taste is very fun! You either get the most heartbreaking songs in his playlist (mitski), the freaky ones, emo music, or the most hopeless romantic song you can ever find (mostly Hot Freaks songs). He's pretty tall, actually. Almost 7 feet!! He's a little taller than Fell Paps, imo. He HATED his junior/high school years, he would hate to talk about them. Now, with relationships, he's not quite good with them. Due to him having done sex work, he doesn't quite understand things. I also gave him Borderline, because I feel like it would make sense with the way he lives. He can also get extremely anxious, but would love giving his lover gift.

Rai/Sans-

I love Rai as much as the next person, but since I want more character depth for them, they're an angry, semi-horny bastard. Sansby doesn't happen in my version, because I give Rai the fear of commitment (and anger issues). Rai is actually non-binary, they dont really feel like theyre male or female. They also rarely do sex work, due to their body semi giving out on them. When they were injected with lust, their magic decreased and made them weaker than most Sanses. Think of it like low iron, or pots if you wanna make It really hard on them. Rai is VERRYYY much a punk. They never enjoyed being under monarch rules. In fact, they were a goth in highschool. While their sense of fashion has.somewhat changed, they still enjoy the music and politics. They're a little under 6 foot as well.

Both-

Now, for both of the siblings, their Canon selves plays a big part in their mental health. They veiw themselves as the caricatures people have painted of their canon selves. Rose can have frequent panic attacks from this, thinking he's a horrible person. Rai gets episodes of anger and resentment towards the world they live in.

Here we go, Act Three is out. Here have a little teaser!

It had been only a few hours after dark. The sound of two pairs of footsteps crunching in the snow began approaching the dimly lit Snowdin village. Despite how unpredictable nighttime in Snowdin would typically get in Underlust, the forest itself was quiet and rather peaceful. Hence why Papyrus suggested taking a leisurely stroll through the forest with his boyfriend, Mettaton.

The two had their elbows interlocked as Mettaton had Papyrus' black blazer draped over his shoulders. luckily being a skeleton meant Papyrus didn't get cold easily. So his pink long-sleeve turtle neck was fine for the time being.

"Ah, Papyrus this was wonderful, I see now why you like it here." Mettaton looked around at the glowing blue hue the forest gave off at night. Both loved the snow on the ground that the wind lightly kicked up generated a rather calm and comforting fog on the ground.

"why Yes, the forest's vast emptiness is a lovely escape from...well...everything else. So I'm quite delighted you agree."

The two trudge up the hill until they reach the Skeleton house at the end of Snowdin village. Papyrus leads the way up to the front door. Papyrus moves to open the door. "Would you like to come in?"

Mettaton smiles as he hands back Papyrus' coat. "Oh Papy I'd love to, but Alphys would blow hers and my fuze if I don't get back soon."

"Oh, so this is goodnight then." Papyrus responds brightly, even if a little disappointed their date was coming to an end.

"Afraid so Papy dear." Mettaton walks over and gives Papyrus a gentle hug. A gesture Papyrus happily returned. They loved hugs more than kisses. But that still didn't stop Mettaton from giving Papyrus a quick peck on the cheek as he pulled away, their hands still locked together.

"You sure you don't need me to walk you home?" Papyrus knew Mettaton could handle herself now. Either of them walking home by themselves was something that still bothered the other when the other would.

"Oh no, it's quite alright. Will I be seeing you for tomorrow's show?"

"Of course."

Letting go of Papyrus' hands, Mettaton begins heading back the way they came towards the entrance of waterfall. He looked back one last time and gave a final wave before cresting the hill. Papyrus couldn't help an exhale of content. Being in a relationship with Mettaton brought him happiness and joy the likes of which the royal harem never did. So many one night stands, so many harsh rejections and cold shoulders. He understood now why Undyne was glad he decided to leave the harem. He didn't belong there and even she knew it.

Opening the door, Papyrus quickly realized Sans was home. Given that his blue knee-high boots were aside the door when he walked in. Between working as a dancer at Grillby's and now this new 'multiverse' job he'd recently taken. Papyrus hadn't really seen his brother much. He would come home for maybe a day, work at Grillby's, then leave through some strange portal and would be gone for a day or more.

The thought of a multiverse was quite intriguing for Papyrus. Like other versions of him?! C'mon what's not to be curious about. He had intended to sit down with Sans and talk about it because it was very fascinating to him. But whenever he tried to bring up the topic Sans would avoid it like the plague. Sans tried to be clever about it, but Papyrus knew when Sans was avoiding him.

Papyrus then noticed more parts of his brother's attire scattered on the floor; His black socks were by the couch. His fingerless gloves were on the handrail of the stairs. and his black tights were at the top of the stairs. This was typically a sign Sans had 'company' over.

"Sans, I'm home!" Papyrus happily called but no response came. Papyrus likely attributed this to the running water of the shower in the bathroom. Which was positioned between their rooms.

When Papyrus got to the stairs he noticed the gloves which were dangling off the rail were torn at the knuckles. Which was odd, because his brother was crazy about his cloths, much like he did. There also appeared to be a small stain on them that Papyrus couldn't make out over the black of the gloves.

Papyrus walked up the stairs and picked up Sans leggings off the floor. Both to clean up after his lazy brother and to inspect them. They too had small rips on them. Mainly in the thighs and at the knees. They also had the same stains he couldn't make out.

Now being concerned, Papyrus flung the ruined clothes on his shoulder as he hastily walked up to the bathroom door. But when he looked down at the clothes his expression warped to horror.

Both the black crop-top and the purple and blue sleeveless vest were ruined. the crop top had several tears across its middle and back making it unwearable. But the most alarming part was the vest. just as torn as the top, it had the same stains that Papyrus now could recognize on it's blue fur. There wasn't much of it, but it didn't make it any less horrifying.

It was blood, and judging by its purple coloration, he knew who's blood it was.

Now, barely audible over the sounds of the shower. His brother quietly weeping nearly sends Papyrus into a full-blown panic attack.

"Sans?!"

I’m curios to ask (If it’s alright, feel free not if you don’t want to) what makes Underlust your fave Au?

Oh this is a great question! There are a lot of reasons!! Longpost under the cut. Forgive me, i typed this on my phone and i just woke up.

One is the designs. I fucking adore everyones designs! Sans is damn cute! Papyrus is cute! Napstablook is cute! MTT is cute! Grillby is cute! The color palettes and slight deviations that make them unique are all just Artistically Good and they hit me somewhere nice in the visual appeal part of my brain.

Another reason is that I just love the canon story! I mean, yeah, its really dark and tragic what happened to Mettaton. But the point of the story is that he overcomes it. He is able to heal. The story tells us that you can heal even after you get hurt that badly and it doesnt have to define you and thats wonderful and beautiful and something too many people legitimately need to hear.

And the RELATIONSHIPS!! MTT and Papyrus talk it out and have a relationship that isnt based in physicality they just genuinely love each other. And Papyrus is so clearly Ride or Die. It's just GREAT okay? And the Sansby is ALSO GREAT because Sans and Grillby are awkward and never talk until Sans does his drunken confesssion and Grillbz is just like oh god i love this dumb idiot drunk this is my life now.

And MTT and Alphys also have a great relationship! They are close enough to make Girl Talk even after what happened! Alphys knows cuz she patched MTT up but they're still making sass at each other! GREAT!!

Papyrus and Undyne have a great relationship!!! She doesn't infantilize him and admits he is good at the sex part of the job, she just thinks he is too clingy and romance driven to keep himself detached enough for work. And thats a legitimate concern! For his well being and the clients both!

Sans and Papyrus's relationship is great!! There is clearly a standard set of platonic affection being shared between them. They talk and joke and sass and tease each other. Theyre brothers and its great.

(did the creator draw a lot of underlust fontcest too? yes. yes she did. and that was also great. but these are two separate things and even without the obvious -gestures- "theyre fictional skeleton monsters, dont be weird", its also addressed that the fontcest part is not something to model irl.)

And i like to headcanon blooky and sans are friends even though they never interacted in the canon material we got. i like to think they would have eventually if it wasn't discontinued.

I love how the humans are adults and frisk is aroace. i'm afraid of children so having an AU where the humans are all canonically adult is great to me.

I love Toriel and Asgore's relationship. It is tragic what happened to them, but I think it's important that stories not always shy away from that kind of hurt. Some people need stories like that too.

I love Rosie the Rose's design and concept in general.

I also love the LUST mechanic. I love that there is an AU where sex is a prominent, plot relevant, societally prevalent and important thing. I love that as an Asexual, myself. It allows me to explore that topic safely, while having fun. I love how its treated as a both natural (meaning its normal and not gross or weird) and unnatural (not meant for monsters, specifically, under normal circumstances) thing. I love how it is defined as a Very Human thing, and what that can mean to me when analyzed and juxtaposed against the narrative foil to the idea that we are given in Frisk the Asexual.

I kinda love that the whole thing is 80% shitposts and pieces the creator made while just having fun living their best life. Yes the papyton comic, which is the meat of the canon, was done seriously, but so much was made of just the characters having fun being themselves and thats pretty cool too.

I know there is a lot of bad publicity around underlust. I know people have spread terrible rumors about it. I frankly dont care. I know it is a beautiful story made from beautiful art. wherever its creator is now i wish her the best in the world. It is my favorite AU (aside from my own lol) and nobody can change my mind.
