Sin embargo, a pesar de tener un corazón enorme, es muy ingenuo y vive con cabezas ajenas y decepciona a su esposa todo el tiempo, haciendo que su amor siga siendo muy turbulento. Hijo del corrupto e importante político León Bustamante, su destino está marcado para la vida política, pero su mayor pasión es la banda RBD, que su padre consideraba rock latino de mala calidad. Antes de morir su padre expulsó a Mabel del país, con ella saliendo del país, su padre le hace creer que ella los abandonó y termina logrando poner a su hijo en contra de su propia madre, lo que termina alimentando el odio y la idea de que su madre lo odia. Miguel Arango

Siempre fue un poco travieso, pero buen tipo y gran amigo de todos. Vivió en el interior del país hasta que falleció su padre. Pensando que Franco Colucci era el responsable de la muerte, se dirigió a la capital en busca de venganza y se matriculó en la escuela de Mia Colucci, su hija. Miguel hizo todo lo que pudo para hacerle la vida imposible a Mía, pero acabó enamorándose de ella y acabó casándose con ella. Lupita Fernández de Echagüe 

La hija de Rosa se formó como médica para ayudar a personas como Dulce, su hermana pequeña, que tiene Síndrome de Down, a quien se dedica al 100%. Es muy buena mujer, angelical, comprensiva, sensible y amiga de todos. Lupita se casa con Santos y tiene una hija con él. Pero las cosas se vuelven confusas cuando reaparece una persona de su pasado. Su deseo de querer ver siempre el lado bueno de las cosas y querer siempre ayudar a los demás acaba convirtiéndola en el blanco del mal de las personas.

Giovanni Mendéz Lopéz

Provenía de una familia pobre que tenía una carnicería, lo que le permitía a su familia ganar mucho dinero, y así terminó convirtiéndose en Giovanni Mendéz Lopéz, un hombre astuto e interesado. Le encanta jugar con la gente y se preocupa mucho por su apariencia. Se divierte haciendo la vida de todos un infierno. Se casó con Tomás Goycoléa, quién no se da cuenta de nada.

Victoria Paz

Estaba becada en la escuela y es la mejor amiga de Mía y Celina. Siempre fue conocida como una chica fácil de la escuela, pero es más famosa de lo que realmente piensan ya que se convertió en una actriz, pero en su trabahjo nadie sabe sobre su pasado. Es animada y divertida. Se casa con Rocco, quien hace todo por ella.

Josy Luján

Es la mejor amiga de Roberta y Lupita y es luchadora profesional. Su madre la abandonó y vivió toda su vida en un orfanato. Se ganó el lugar en Elite Way, cuando en realidad descubrió que Gastón era su tutor. Es introvertida y se irrita fácilmente, pero le irrita aún más el enfado que los inspectores escolares tienen con su hija. Se casa con Téo, pero su relación continúa con peleas y idas y vueltas, gracias a intrigas de terceros.

Tomás Goycolea

Proviene de una familia rica y tradicional y no le importa nada más que divertirse y hacer reír. Es muy fácil enfadarse o hacer apuestas. Es muy tonto y siempre da malos consejos a sus amigos. Siempre dice que no sabe hacer nada, pero es la mano derecha de Diego en el trabajo, pues cree que nunca le faltará dinero. Se enamora de muchas mujeres, pero acaba descubriendo el amor en Pilar que no se da cuenta del secreto de su mujer.

Téo Ruiz Palácios

Siempre fue muy inteligente, dejó de ser el nerd distraído y tonto del que todos siempre se burlaban con la ayuda de Roberta, lo que lo llevó a una pasión platónica por ella. Es muy asmático y, cuando se infiltró en la secta para intentar derrocarlos, casi muere a causa de ello. Después de olvidarse permanentemente de Roberta, se casa con Josy y tiene un gran amor con ella.

Nico Huber

Nico Huber - Siempre ha estado enamorado de Lupita, pero admite que no puede olvidarla, ya que ella fue su primer amor. Descubre que Lupita está casada con otra persona y termina deprimido y en guerra con Santos, el marido de su gran amor.

ok. rebelde 2022 thoughts from someone who has been a rebelde 2004 fan since it originally aired 

let’s start with: i don’t like the netflix 8-episode seasons, they don’t give me enough time to actually know everything i need to know about these characters and get attached to them (it’s the same issue i had with young royals tbh). rebelde 2004 was a telenovela that aired almost daily for basically 2 years. they could spend 5-6 chapters with some b-plot storyline going on and still have us hooked with other storylines and all that, and then move on to a completely different storyline the next week, you know?

so having jana be like “i thought what we had was real” to esteban after (what it feels like) only knowing him for 3 days? blargh. also having them as the main couple was just... a terrible idea. they’re boring, very troy and gabriella which is nothing like the rebelde couples we love. mia and miguel? diego and roberta? the blueprints of enemies to lovers. maybe the 2022 romantic dynamic that hit the closest to a rebelde dynamic was dixon x mj, with dixon being the more wildcard, rebellious one and mj being more sweet and innocent (a similar dynamic to lupita and santos) and even that still felt a little rushed (again 8 episodes... not enough); i also really liked andi x emilia but thats because rebelde 2004 didn’t have gay people so 2022 wins there.

also that jana x esteban break-up at the end felt so out of the blue. it lacks drama, it lacks silliness, it lacks everything that made the og rebelde so good.

another thing: the personalities for these characters felt really flat. out of the main 6, luka was the one with the most distinguished traits, i feel like he was the one that was the closest to having a whole “hero’s journey” going for him (obviously he’s my favorite). the thing about rebelde 2004 that really worked was that the main 6 characters were very flawed, completely different from one another and very cartoonishingly so. 

mia was an extremely girly-girl-spoiled-bratty-most-popular-daddy’s girl ever, roberta was the most rebellious-rock-n-roll-post-feminism-punk girl, lupita was the peak angelic-church-going-innocent-eternally-virginal type, etc. all these characters were very distinctively different from one another to the point where watching them learn how to get along felt much more interesting and rewarding. and even the supporting characters, the teachers, the parents, etc., all of them felt very unique. meanwhile in 2022 these traits that are supposed to tell them apart are kind of... flat. i can kinda compare them to the og 6 but i cannot right away categorize jana or esteban in any kind of archetype, all these 2022 characters feel like a bella swan-ification of the og main 6 and it’s boring tbh

don’t get me started with la logia... 2004 la logia were truly terrifying. they’d specifically target scholarship students, it was some sort of neonazi allegory, using anonymous threats and real violence and it was genuinely scary whenever they were around. like you’d be fearing for these characters’ lives when they were caught by la logia, people would end up in the hospital fighting for their lives fr!!!!!!! and now... la logia catches the newbies (regardless of status) and makes them... sing? laughable

and “you can’t compare the two” won’t fly here. it’s a direct continuation of an iconic piece of entertainment, and i am a fan of the source material, i am exclusively watching it to make comparisons. not to mention, the characters themselves made direct comparisons - which actually make me dislike them a little more (jana cohen you will never be mia colucci)

and a few lore issues:

so pilar and tomás just... broke up? i guess it happens, of course not all of the couples that ended up together in the 2004 version would be together forever but when you’re making something for people who watched the material source... maybe a little explanation wouldn’t hurt? i wasn’t even that invested in pilar and tomás (i’m more of a lesbian pilar truther tbh)

celina was pregnant when the og rebelde ended. where is the child? that child would be 15-16 in 2022 which is the perfect age for them to be in elite way school... being a character... causing trouble...

speaking of elite way school: this new version is so fucking ugly. the og ews was this DREAM school we all ENVIED and the students would use their laptops in class (i remember being so jealous because laptops were still like. A Big Deal) but this new one is like: concrete. here’s all these students with this wannabe 2000s aesthetics, but this school will be just boring concrete. ugly as fuck and looks tiny

why were there no celina and pilar scenes? they’re literally the two characters that connected us to the original story and they’ve known each other for a long time. celina now has pilar’s dad’s job! and i would’ve felt it in my heart if, in that final scene of the nonames (i refuse to call them rebelde) singing that iconic song, celina and pilar had just fondly smiled at each other because of the good ol’days..... but then didn’t do it! ugh

but let’s go to what i liked:

luka. i’d be biased anyway because he’s a colucci but as i mentioned before he felt like the most distinctive character out of the main 6 and his journey felt the most rewarding to follow.

the anita twist: was genuinely surprised by that. maybe i wasn’t that interested in the logia storyline since it felt so silly compared to the og but seeing her in that revelation scene was quite surprising

diversity: something rebelde 2004 really lacked and the 2022 version managed to do better (we can always keep improving though).

andi x emilia: although it still felt rushed (fucking 8 episode season), it was very refreshing to see a queer storyline in the rebelde universe

lourdes: she was very likeable (even though she purposefully tries not to be), loved her attitude with the students and i wish we had seen even more of her

the covers: i actually enjoyed the covers (although i thought the salvame mv was very corny but not in a camp way like the 2004 one, you know?), listening to songs i’ve loved for more than half of my life in new versions was fun and i’m always up bop to tras de mi .

these are my first thoughts tho. if i think of anything else i’ll keep talking about it i guess lmao

santos echagüe literally arrives at elite way school and he looks so punk/goth and then he starts talking and you realize he’s a bubbly dork who only has eyes for the goody goody of the school. i’m just so happy i have them.

oh, and lupita who’s always trying to look serious and annoyed because she’s totally having a crush on him, but whenever he opens his mouth, she just can’t help but laugh. they are literally the best trope out there. they are actually so many tropes i mean it. bookworm x troublemaker? we got it. grumpy x bubbly? you know it (and not who you think it is!!!). soft x punk? oh avril lavigne wouldn’t even know how to describe them. he was a punk, she did ballet who goody goody x rebel? they were the blueprint. mutual pining? 100%. angst? oh it hurts so good. slow burn? hot damn. ALSO THEY BOTH HAVE BIBLICAL NAMES which means a lot to lupe since she’s catholic guadalupe and santos? endgame material GOD TIER

For serious fans of fashion, there’s no bigger red-carpet affair than the annual Costume Institute Benefit—a.k.a. the Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala, or Met Gala for short—where celebrities and high fashion collide in a bonanza of couture gowns that more than rivals the Oscars in unabashed glamour. Part of the evening’s fun—even for us spectators—is seeing what attendees choose to wear on the red carpet at the Gala, which will be held Monday night. Considering attendees’ high-design attire is typically loosely inspired by the exhibition’s theme, we have a feeling this particular red carpet will be one for the record books, and we’ll see some of the best Met Gala dresses yet.

However, before we can look ahead to this year’s extravaganza, we decided to look back at some past memorable Met Gala gowns that we’re still talking about.

From supermodels (Karolina Kurkova in a head-to-toe custom Rachel Zoe creation that resembled liquid gold, Gisele Bündchen’s red-hot Valentino, Anja Rubik’s skin-baring Anthony Vaccarello) and starlets (Beyoncé in showstopping Givenchy, Diane Kruger in Jason Wu) to the fash pack (Alexa Chung in Marc Jacobs, Ashley Olsen in vintage Dior, Zoe Kravitz in Alexander Wang), there’s no denying that everyone who shows up to the year’s most major red carpet does so with a serious fashion moment in mind.

Rihanna, Met Gala 2017

As an annual Met Gala favorite, Rihanna didn’t disappoint when she wore a Comme des Garçons structured flower-like dress by Rei Kawakubo, a Japanese designer who was honored with that year’s theme. The look, which was straight from Comme des Garçons’s Fall 2016 runway, used floral fabrics, which were layered and pulled apart to look like petals.

Zendaya, Met Gala 2017

Though Zendaya strayed from 2017’s avant-garde theme, she still shut down the red carpet when she showed up in a colorful Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda ball gown decorated with vibrant orange and blue parrots. Z complemented her look, which boasted a floor-length train, with a voluminous Afro.

Solange completed her look with matching latex leg warmers and clear sandals.

In 2015, Kim Kardashian caught major flak for wearing a dress nearly identical to the one Beyoncé wore in 2012. Granted, they’re by different designers and were different colors—Beyoncé’s black and purple gown was Givenchy, while Kim’s white dress was part of Peter Dundas’s first collection since returning to Roberto Cavalli, but the similarities were shocking, down to the sheer nakedness, the curve-hugging fit, and—of course—the feathered train that Bey worked like a pro on the Met’s red stairs when she made her dramatic entrance three years ago.

(And let it be known, Kim—who was on the event’s host committee that year—also showed up toward the end of the carpet, just like Ms. Knowles did.)

Hoy en dia “la morenita del Tepeyac”, “Lupita”, “La guadalupana”, “La patrona de México”  y un sin fin de nombres mas es una imagen muy representativa e importante para muchos mexicanos catolicos ya que la consideramos nuestra madre milagrosa; siempre que necesitamos de alguna “milagrito” recurrimos a todos los santos y sin duda alguna a la virgencita de Guadalupe. Y claro como no somos malagradecidos pues también le vamos hasta su altar y le rezamos en agradecimiento por el que nos de salud, trabajo u otras cosas.  De hecho cada año el día 12 de diciembre muchísimas procesiones de distintas partes de México se conjuntan en la Basílica de Guadalupe ubicada en el cerro del Tepeyac donde se encuentra el manto milagroso.

Pero bueno, el verdadero punto aquí son las pinturas de la época de la Nueva España en las cuales se presenta la Virgen de Guadalupe y sirvieron para la evangelización de las culturas indigenas. 

Todo empieza en 1737 cuando en la Nueva España se desata una epidemia de fiebre tifoidea dejando un aproximado de 40mil víctimas, poco después una serie de huracanes y hasta un temblor. Ante las situaciones el arzobispo de la nueva España Juan Antonio Vizarrón la proclama “Patrona de la capital de la Nueva España”  ya que después de pedir “le milagro” la epidemia desaparecido, y esa así como llegamos a la primer pintura:

Cuauhtémoc es la figura más emotiva de la cultura mexica y en esta pintura se muestra la ceremonia en la cual el es bautizado, figurándose así como una “invitación” a los demás indigenas a ser parte de la evangelización.

Y así como estos ejemplos de pinturas religiosas existen muchas mas, la intención era que mediante estas imágenes se representaran los milagros, las situaciones y las vivencias de la Nueva España, claro que desde un punto de vista religioso puesto que se quería evangelizar a la mayor parte de los grupos indigenas existentes por medio de las mismas imágenes y del bautizo. La virgen desde ese tiempo y nuestros días se representa como un “ser” milagroso y venerado por todos.
