summary. i genuinely don't think a-gen is directly xuanli, so... diting meeting someone with a sliver of the soul of someone he used to know probably brings up some complicated feelings. small rewrite of LXH S1E9.

"So you put the ice-devouring flame up to test me?" The boy in the white shirt asks, staring around at the ruins of the rain shelter held up by his ice.

"Yes." Diting nods. "But don't worry. Everyone is safe." The mythical beast shifts a bit, but the boy can tell he's being honest.

"Heh. I knew I couldn't hide it from you. How'd you figure out it was me?" The teenager smiles, his little braid whipping around in the storm. "I've been enjoying my secluded life, after all."

Diting hums, folding his hands behind his back. "We know each other too well." He responds evenly. "It's been a while, Xuanli."

The teenager's smirk shifts into something a little sadder, a little more complicated. "Oh, I'm not Xuanli." He waves his hand, and the ice around them starts to recede. His glasses glint in the rain of the storm, blocking off the boy's eyes from Diting. "Not quite Xuanli, at least."

Ah.

Diting tilts his head, humming. "That... makes sense."

So perhaps he was both right and wrong. This was not quite Xuanli, but not quite someone different, either. A glimmer of Xuanli's soul still resided there, but...

"I could sense a familiar spiritual energy in you, but something about it was different." He sighs, then holds out his hand to the boy. "I presume you already remember me, but regardless; I am Diting. It's nice to meet you."

And the boy- funnily enough, one that almost matches his physical age, despite being at least two feet shorter than him- grins, outstretching his hand to shake Diting's.

"Call me A-Gen."

This blog is made for the unofficial (or at least not the AsSlators on Mangadex) translation of Lanxi Zhen! We're not expecting a large majority of fans, due to how small the english-speaking fandom is, but we are still here to serve. This blog is run by Mod Silver (translation and typesetting) and Mod Maji (betareader and blog side-manager).

We started translating these for personal use a few months ago because we realized the AsSlators translation was (understandably) rather delayed compared to the original comic updates, and once we realized we accumulated a fair share, it seemed like a good idea to share them with any other english-speaking folks waiting for updates.

We will be posting our versions of chapters 89-91 here on Tumblr, and then crossposting chapters 92 and above both here and on Mangadex, although we still have no affiliation with the AsSlators Lanxi Zhen translators.
