Fake Married and Soulmate AU! FOR SHIKASAKU.. :DDDDD

First words etched on your skin soulmate au.

But there’s a slight problem. Since Konoha has the ninja academy, a large part of the population ends up with the word “Hai” because of attendance roll calls. Sakura knows there is a good chance her soulmate is someone her age when it shows up on her skin.  She also watches for new faces every time there is a new roll call.  

It’s impossible to tell who it is by the word alone though, and Sakura can only hope that her soulmate as something a little more unique.

Meanwhile, Shikamaru has “Ino-chan” tattooed on his skin, so he strongly suspects it’s Sakura.  But Ino is also pretty popular, so he’s not going to say anything until he’s certain.  He never thought he would be assigned to a fake marriage mission, much less to her.  He’s pretty terrified of it.

Sakura, on the other hand, can brawl their way out of a sticky situation if they are discovered.  This is her fourth fake marriage and she’s getting tired of it.  

The fic is in Shikamaru’s POV and it has him slowly losing his marbles as Sakura bosses him around.  

“Kiss me properly, Shikamaru.  No one is going to believe we are newlyweds if you only kiss me on the cheek.”  It take four days for him to finally breakdown and confess.

Unbeknownst to them, Shikamaru and Sakura were made on day one, and the enemy was foiling their attempts from the start.  When the enemy goes to bust them, the find Shikamaru taking Sakura against a wall.  Embarrassed, the enemy thinks they wrong, and drop their suspicion.

Therefore, the mission is a success in more ways than one.

“Good morning…I see theassassins failed again.” a follow up to [this]

“Good morning…I see the assassins failed again.” 

 “Oh ha, ha,” Sakura saysdryly, taking a seat across from Shikamaru.”See if I give you your breakfastnow.”

They are on the Nara estate, seated within the gazebo in thegarden. It is their usual spot and Sakura places her basket to her side,staring out across the grounds. The sun has just appeared on the horizon andeverything is lit with pinks and golds. From the beginning, Sakura hasn’t questioned his earlyhours, so strange for the lazy heir of the Nara.

She knows the nightmares don’t allow for much.

Shikamaru scoffs, still working at setting up the intricatelycarved animal pieces for a game of Parcheesi. They have yet to play shogi andSakura isn’tsure if they ever will. “That’s an empty threat; Chouji would be so disappointedif he finds out that you’re letting me languish away. And then he won’t bakeanymore of those scones you enjoy.”

Sakura narrows her eyes at him, clucking her tongue even as shepasses him the pastries stuffed with red bean paste that Chouji madespecifically for him. “Wellplayed.”

“It always is,” Shikamarusays with a smirk, before digging into his breakfast.

Sakura joins him, idly pondering the past few months. It hascertainly been interesting as she and the other Rookies have done what they canto comfort Team Ten in their time of mourning. She gathers recipes from herfamily’smerchant ties, bringing them to Chouji and laughing with him at her failedattempts of cooking them even as his come out to perfection. She arrangesflowers every week and presents them to Ino, always making sure that themessage is heartfelt before pulling her out to a training ground where Ino canbreak and cry and scream her pain out to Sakura, venting the brokenness againstsomeone who can handle it. And then there’s her meetings with Shikamaru,playing all sorts of games ranging from the simplicity of go fish to thecomplexity of go.

She has yet to win a match.

“So Shikamaru,” Sakurabegins, fingering one of her tiger pieces. “Tsunade-shishou has assigned me amission. I’ll be out of the village for a few weeks.” She can’t make herselflook at him as she continues, “Shino mentioned that he’d be interested injoining our game sessions, maybe he could start playing next week and continuewhile I’m away?” There is no response. Sakura looks up, breath catching at theanger simmering in Shikamaru’s eyes. “Shikamaru?” she says, watching as heblinks and comes back to himself.

“I don’t think we’ll haveroom for Shino,” Shikamaru mutters, moving his camel piece. He doesn’t look ather, shoulders tense. “I’m going to teach you to play shogi next week. That’s atwo player game.”

Sakura feels something in her throat tighten as she nods. “Of course,” she says,refocusing on the game and fighting against a smile. “I’ll let him know.”

Shikamaru grins and Sakura clears her throat, ignoring the wayher eyes mist. Team Ten will be fine.

KakaSaku Month Week 4 Fanfic Recs

Wow, I thought week 2 was hard... I could barely find fanfics on my favorites list for the prompts for this week. ^^;; And I guess a lot of people are going to be posting things later on in the week because I couldn’t find much even here on Tumblr. 

The funny thing is I feel like I’ve read a lot of Time Travel AUs for KakaSaku... but I think either most of them ended up being on indefinite hiatus or I dropped them from my favorites list because my tastes changed. Oh well.

Anyways, I did my best for this week. haha I actually almost forgot today was Friday, but I remembered just in time. :P I could only fulfill 3 out of the 5 prompts unfortunately. 

Time Travel AU

The Sweetest Lies (One-Shot | Angst) by Orlha (@luna-orlha) - This actually also falls under the Soulmates AU prompt from week 3 as well. I did read it then but I guess I forgot to list it last week, but I’m glad I found it again cuz I can list it for this week. :) This one’s actually kinda bittersweet, but I really loved the way they wrote it because my initial suspicions on how the story would proceed disappeared as I read the beginning only for those suspicions to slap me in the face as the truth once I got to the end.

Unusual Perspective

Don’t Break Her Heart (One-Shot | Family/Romance) by Roxie Zephyr Jocelyn - I interpreted “Unusual Perspective” as a story being told from the perspective of someone not usually used. In this case, that someone is Haruno Mebuki, Sakura’s mother. This fic has always stood out to me since the first time I read it and has been on my favorites list since then so of course I had to list it here.

The Mission

Duty Before Honor (Multi-Chapter | Romance/Drama) by SilverShine - I haven’t reread this in a while but I always see it when I’m browsing for new KakaSakufics to read, so it’s a hard one to forget. However, I do remember enjoying it, so I place it here. Without the mission she takes on in this fic, there would be no story. lol

Missive (One-Shot | Romance/Drama) by Okobo-chan - I always love rereading this one when I want something lighthearted. hehe Plus I love how Kakashi and Sakura’s interaction is very natural. The mission in this fic is what forces hidden feelings to be brought to light.

The Window (Multi-Chapter | Romance) by SilverShine - Aaaaand of course it comes to this. haha Now there isn’t a particular mission from what I can remember, but it is the fact that Kakashi is late to meeting up for an A rank mission with Team 7 that brings Sakura to witness things she cannot unsee. ;)

"drifting across the moon river" for your title thingy :D because I'm hilarious and I tried to give you a funny title

A funny title? That just gives me angst feels!!! hehehe *hugs*

For the record, I like the idea that Shisui is still alive out there somewhere... but for this purpose...

Shisui fic. Beginning as he befriends Itachi, focuses on his perspective of events and how he’s happy to have someone he can share his ideals and values with as he’s usually looked down upon for them despite his prowess as a ninja. Hints of ShiIta, and the looming uncertainty of their future, then the cold hard truth of exactly where they are in the world. Climaxes with Danzo taking his eye and entrusting his other one to Itachi. He jumps to the Naka River and dies.

Ends with Shisui floating down the “river” bathed in moonlight. He can see, and he sees Itachi, and he sees the pain and the loss, and as he floats farther away the moonlight becomes even brighter. His closes his eyes again, and hopes he made the right choice.

Shikamaru sighs as he lets himself into his flat. It had been a long mission, one he hadn’t come back unscathed from, and the debrief had been more than troublesome and had lasted until three in the morning.

All he wants is to collapse on his bed and sleep for the next forty-eight hours.

“Undress. Your clothes are stained.”

He startles in surprise, blinking at the sudden light. Sakura is standing in his room, hand still on the light switch.

“So eager to get me naked?” He jokes weakly.

“Ha. Ha. Ha. You’re hilarious” his flatmate deadpans. “I’m serious. There’s blood on your clothes, and the only reason Tsunade-sama didn’t order you to the hospital as soon as your debrief was over is because she knew I would be up waiting for you.”

He hesitates, weighing the pros and cons of ignoring her and falling asleep fully clothed.

“Either you undress now so that I can look at your wounds or I call your mother. And Ino-pig.”

Wincing at her tone, Shikamaru does as she says. His shirt takes some effort, as the fabric has gotten caught in the kunai wound. He can’t quite hide the painful hiss, and Sakura scowls as she marches up to him, hands glowing green before she even reaches him.

“How many times” she mutters “Will I have to lecture you on how stupid you are for not heading straight to the hospital? Seriously, for someone so smart, you really are a moron.”

But despite this, she’s still here, still healing him, just like she always does, ever since they started taking more missions together after Naruto left on his training trip.

And maybe this is why he’ll never willingly go to the hospital when there’s a chance of getting some of her personal attention.

Here it is...

The sappy New Years post.

I was having a pretty amazing year tbh. Anxiety attacks aside, and health issues, it was a big year for me.

Bought a house, finally free from my parents, got married (properly this time), my two besties at my side. Most importantly I'm finally published. A feat that has taken every ounce of confidence I had in me, and it would not at all be possible without your support.

All this, and I let one shitty, drunken, asshole comment ruin my entire evening. Ruin my entire entrance into 2019. Flipping the best year of my life really, into something other than that. Because crucially, this year, for the first time, I finally found my people.

@itslulu42 I really would not have continued publishing if you hadn't left me that first review where you slammed my door down. I was, and still am, in awe of your works which I always find myself back reading. My heart jumped a million miles when you first messaged me and it hasn't come back down tbfh.

@were-allalittlemad You keep me sane and I sincerely love you for it. I watch your talent and audience grow with pride because I get to call you my friend. You are amazing through and through and never ever forget that. You will always have my support, because you are a good and wonderful friend and person, and you deserve it.

@crinklyy I have not seen you in a while love, but you gave me my first fan art. And it's on my wall. I love it to bits. @morethanyourimage the art you did for me is also there and I smile every single time I see it. Thank you again so very much. You made my fic come to life and it amazes me still.

Prompt 71 is Twenty-Four Hours to Live

So, let’s see here. This has a slight change into the story line, where Danzo is still a massive dick, but he doesn’t die when he does.  Instead he’s still a gremlin hiding out in the basement waiting for his opportunity.  He missing the opportunity to nominate himself for Hokage since he’s actually trapped in an underground lair, because that’s how I imagine him.

Anyway, the war happens and since Kakashi already became Hokage for a few weeks or whatever, there’s not any debate when Tsunade steps down for good.  Danzo knows he’s missed the mark.

Especially since Kakashi has seen too much shit with Anbu and knows what a punk Danzo is.  But he’s been very quiet of it, and orders Danzo’s execution.  When he finds out about the armful of eyeballs, he’s relieved that he made the right choice.

Sai’s seal was finally released with Danzo’s death, so that’s when he finally finds out that he does have a soulmate. Repressing the soulmark for so many years had a terrible side effect.  The human body wasn’t allowed to adapt naturally to the growing connetion.  And so some of the members of Root dropped dead hours after the seal was broken.  Sai was younger than some of the members, so the pressure wears on him more slowly.

Sakura find out her soulmate had 24 hours left to live, and she has 0 hours to enjoy his company.

I would just like to take a second to thank every single fanfiction writer who’s ever published a fic. In the last 3 weeks, I’ve read over 890,000 words of fanfiction while in quarantine. I know legally, fanfiction writers are not considered “essential” but let me tell you: they are essential to me. Essential to my sanity, my wellbeing, my happiness. Fic gives me so much joy and such a love for the world and the people in it, and fic writers don’t ask for anything in return, except occasional engagement. So from the bottom of my heart: thank you fic writers. Thank you for keeping me company during this time of isolation. Thank you for writing stories that give me hope and take my mind off of my anxiety. Thank you for making me laugh even when I don’t think it’s possible. Thank you for giving me something to be excited about when it feels like the world is falling apart around me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
