Golden eyes fluttered in rapid succession for a moment before coming to an abrupt halt, just in time to keep from colliding with a sudden obstacle. “Ah?” A sound of surprise followed as she stumbled back a step, until golden orbs lifted to meet with a familiar ocean. “Childe!” Balled fists met the curves of her hips as she glared up at him, with a playful undertone.

“Watch where you’re going, won’t you?” Shaking her head, she made an act of dusting herself off. “Miss you? I was wondering why it’s been so quiet, lately.” She shot him a lopsided smile in response; as if she’d ever openly admit such a thing, but maybe she did. But he didn’t have to know that.

Feeling her face flush red, she rose a hand, using the pad of her thumb to rub at the peek of her reddened cheeks.     “Where ... Where did that even come from?”     She mumbled out, looking at the space between them. With a small shuffle forward, arms wrapped around his middle as she hid her face in his chest.    “Y-You can, if you really want...”     Voice muffled into his chest, she had forgotten something extremely vital in her flustered state:     it’s hard to kiss someone when they have their face buried into his chest like that.      ꒱

(    &.   ABYSMAL PRINCESS     —     Her hair whipped in the wind that gathered around them, trying to pull her into the portal which would take her to the abyss. The light and warmth which typically glowed brighter than the sun was absent from her gaze as she stood before her brother. If it hurt her to see him like this—pained, distraught, and confused—she didn’t show it. The sister he loved was gone. Right now, she was fighting with the bigger picture in mind. Unfortunately, that meant she had to put her personal emotions aside.

“You will come to understand, Aether. In due time,”     she spoke out coolly, lids lowering as she stepped back closer towards the open portal.    “Everything has a purpose. A reason. It is up to you to find it for yourself.”      )

(   &. HONORARY KNIGHT     —    Golden eyes were gleaming as she leaned back, watching in awe as geo crystalflies fluttered about them, giving off a warm glow. Xiao had taken her to a spot within the Liyue mountains, over-looking the world before them. When she had questioned what they were doing there, he told her to be patient and wait. And so they did, sitting there in complete silence, hands touching and just enjoying their company and the peace around them.

And then, as the sun dipped into the horizon and they were surrounded by the night sky, it happened.

The glow of the butterflies blessed them with their beauty. And, with a single motion, the geo crystalflies were startled into flight, painting the sky with their glow.

It all made sense now. Why he had brought her here. Looking to Xiao, Lumine giggled into the bend of her knuckle.     “It’s beautiful...”    Golden lashes fluttered at him as she turned to face the adeptus.     “I love you.”     Cupping his face in her hand, she leaned in and planted a sweet and loving kiss against his lips.      )

“Paimon, what do you want...?”     Came the grumbled response as Paimon fluttered about her, going off in excited cries as she woke her up. Slowly, Lumine pushed herself onto an elbow, free hand coming up so she could rub the heel of her palm against her eye. Vision finally focused, she noted the box in the cherub’s small hands, and the traveler shifted into a sitting position.

With mild confusion, she found the little note attached to it, and read it quickly. A fond smile soon followed as she held the piece of paper close for a moment before carefully setting it aside. Most people see her and would imagine she’d be the type to carefully open presents, without ripping at the paper.

No, Lumine tore it open before she held up the cloak with awe. Smoothing a hand over it, she hugged it close and eyes slipped shut.    “Thank you, Miss Margaret...”    She spoke out quietly, feeling the wind pull and tug at her hair. Letting out a content sigh, she threw it over herself before turning to Paimon.

“Well, how does it look?”

His gaze falls from her face to the paper surface, free fingers moving to trail a line, following each of the marked points."These are spots of interest, nice places where you can find materials for anything. And these—" He trails now to another type of marks—starlike shapes carefully placed in very specific spots in the map, a lot scarcer than the other dots. "—are places I've marked down to bring my siblings to visit to, one day. They're particularly beautiful places, gorgeous natural reserves untouched by civilization. Perfect for scenery-watching and starviewing."He glances back up at her, and flashes her an even brighter smile. "This is my personal map, nothing fatui or work related. Just my little personal pointer. You can keep it as my gift for the winter holidays, so whenever you reunite with your brother, you can bring him to all these places before you depart back to your world." He tilts his head and shrugs. "It's not a big gift for the commonfolk, but as a traveler yourself, I figured you'd find value to it. Lumine areched a brow at his words, fisted hands falling to her hips as she scowled at him. Of course, to those who knew her well would know that it was done in good fun; she may not be very expressive by nature, but if you knew how to read her enough, she spoke volumes sometimes. “Of course I know how to read a map, stupid Fatui,” she retorted, rolling her eyes. But a smile was quick to ctack at her lips as she reached out sharply.

The motion itself seemed a bit aggressive in nature, but when she actually took the map in her hands and pulled it towards herself, she was mindful and careful with the parchment. Her eyes scanned the contents and the many symbols, a look of awe on her features. Every marker was clear and detailed, and she let out a small sound of appreciation.

Catching herself, however, she closed it carefully and proceeded as if nothing had happened. “Childe ...” She spoke out, smiling softly his way. They had bonded over family and their homesickness countless of times, and the fact that he had given her something so thoughtful—as if he knew that she hoped to share the world of Teyvat with her brother, hoping that .... No. She was quick to shut down such thoughts.

Her mouth opened to say something, but it was as if he had read her mind as well. Now, against popular belief, Lumine was not the type to show affection openly. And yet, she found herself rising on her toes so she could wrap her arms around the Harbinger’s neck, hugging him close, chin hooked on his shoulder.

“Thank you, Childe ...” Eyes closed, she hummed out another thanks in her mother tongue, something she’s only done around the few people who knew her true origins. before she lowered herself to the flat of her feet once more.

Her head found his shoulder as she leaned up against him. Sitting on the roof of the Wangshu Inn, the couple over-looked the harbors of Liyue in the distance. Another year here in Teyvat, she thought to herself, the stars reflecting in her golden eyes. Funny how. out of her over 500 years being here, this was the first one to actually matter to her.

Squeezing his hand instinctively, she sighed out/ It wasn’t until he called her name did she shift herself, looking to Xiao. She was quick to react when he had leaned in, kissing her softly and lovingly. Hand rising to cup his cheek, she kissed him back to the sound of fireworks going off in the distance/

“ .... Happy New Years, Xiao ...” she whispered with a breathless laugh, bumping their brows together.

 “ ... Xiao.” His name left her lips with so much tenderness and adoration, it showed in the glimmer of her eyes. Hand reaching out, she allowed the back of her knuckles to stroke along his cheek. “I know that I can count on you,” she murmured before leaning in, placing a kiss to his brow, each cheek, and then a peck to his lips.

Letting out a small laugh, she bumped their brows together, eyes falling shut. “But you have to promise to let me protect you, too.” Eyes fluttering open, their gazes locked and she pulled her hands to hold his in her own.
