Filly Rose Moon: Abuelita, why do we run a squash farm? It’s so boring.
Tumblr media
Abuela: (laughs) it is a little boring, but don’t let your Papa hear you say that.
Way back when I was a filly your age, my papa took my mama and me to San Franciscolt for the gold rush. But he didn’t want gold- he wanted land. He knew when the gold ran out ponies would want to make a home for their own, and he bought some fertile land- but not as much as he’d hoped.
The neighbors to the east had enough land for their farmhouse, but not enough to grow the squash seeds they had brought when they came for their fortune. So your great grand Papi and their neighbor made a deal.
Tumblr media
The neighbors would use our land to grown their squash, we would split the profits, and when I and their son-who was about my age- grew up, we would marry and inherit the land and farming skills together.
Rose Moon Filly: Oh. So that’s when you met abuelo?
Abuela: No, my sweet- your grandpapi was another pony. But I’ll let you know how that came to be when you’re older.
Rose Moon Filly: Okay Abuela.

Pumpkin Jamboree
So, first things first. HUGE thanks to @just-a-pansy for allowing me to use his rival children for this prompt! You should definitely check them all out if you haven't already! The story is below the cut to be sure proper thanks were given. Please enjoy!
It felt surreal to you sometimes. What were the odds of so many of you having children around the same time frame? You couldn’t say you weren’t happy that things worked out this way. All your worries about Ellis having someone to play with were gone. You and Gustafa maintained good relationships, giving your son plenty of friends among the children of others who could have once been romantic rivals.
You loved the tradition of the Pumpkin Jamboree. You remember crying when your parents told you that you were too old. So, it wasn’t a surprise to Gustafa when you eagerly volunteered to help the children dress up and lead them to the part Rock and Lumina were hosting at the Villa. The day had finally come, and you were focusing on restraining yourself from gathering the kids into a group hug.
Cecilia and Marlin’s daughters dressed as little scarecrows. You had no doubt Marlin sewed the costumes for them. Ava dutifully tried to keep her younger sister Marcie from unraveling her clothes by picking loose threads. Tito dressed like his father. If it wasn’t for him having Flora’s eyes, you would have thought Carter had reverted in age. Your son had stolen one of his father’s large green hats and begged Gustafa to make him a robe. Ellis now stood with his friends, loudly proclaiming he was a wizard and could create spells from music. It was his daddy’s love spell song that entrapped you after all.
Blushing, you did your best to ignore Gustafa’s laughter as you ushered the children outside. Four kids couldn’t be hard to track and wrangle. They should be more manageable than the farm’s adventurous chickens. You enjoyed their babbling as you followed behind the group. You had the group detour before heading to the Inner Inn and through the village. Since Nina’s passing, you did your best to include Galen. The older man was starting to involve himself in Forget-Me-Not Valley again, and you wanted to be sure he was included in the Pumpkin Jamboree.
In a flutter of activity, more children joined the group. First, Nami’s son Mikhail tumbled down the inn’s stairs. His bright hair almost matched the pumpkin costume he wore. Following Mikhail’s appearance were Cody’s son, August, and Molly and Griffin’s child, Rae. You recognized August as a Renaissance painter, though you couldn’t name the exact one. Rae’s costume stumped you until they explained. They were a warrior princess. It was why they had a frilly top with pants and a sword. Didn’t you know slaying a dragon would be difficult in a dress?
It wasn’t until you started the path uphill to the villa that you realized something was amiss. There were too many children. There should be seven, but each time you counted, there were eight. You picked out the child you didn’t know quickly. She looked like a girl with black hair, her white dress only shades lighter than her. You fought panic as she ran with the other kids to greet Edie (dressed as royalty) and play.
“Maybe she’s one of those black-eyed children,” Rock mused when you asked him about the child. “Y’know, I’ve heard they come and bring misfortune wherever they wander. Though with how close the mountains are, maybe she’s a mountain spirit instead? I wonder if she’d be appeased with candy?”
“Oh! I’ll ask her if she’s a ghost!” Marcie excitedly quipped before running off.
You hadn’t realized she had come to stand near Rock and you. You could only imagine what Marcie said when she reached the other children gathered around Lumina. You shrank back and sidled away from Rock when Lumina fixed him with a glare. Her disgusted frown told exactly what she thought of him telling such stories around the children.
“Adora is Daryl’s granddaughter,” Lumina’s voice seemed to drip with displeasure as she joined you. “She must have wandered away from the lab when she saw the other kids. Rock, please go let Daryl know Adora is here.”
Lumina sent her husband off with a wave, refusing to acknowledge his explanations for the time being. She sighed to you about how sometimes it felt like she had two children. Edie was obviously the better-behaved one. You laughed along with her, but your thoughts were elsewhere. Daryl had a granddaughter? The man hardly seemed that old; he must have decent genetics. Who had his wife been? You couldn’t wait to share this gossip with Gustafa.

Many Pagans love to garden, but a lot of people don't realize you can grow plants and flowers that bloom at night. Cultivating a moon garden is a great way to get in touch with nature, and it provides a beautiful and fragrant backdrop for your moonlight rituals in the summer. If you plant these lovelies close to your house, you can open the windows and take advantage of their aromas as you sleep.
Many night-blooming plants are white, and give a luminous appearance in the moonlight. If you plant them in a circle or a crescent shape, when they bloom, you'll have the moon herself right there "as above, so below." There are a number of plants that open at night — mix them in with silver-foliaged day bloomers.
Night Blooming Plants
Try some of these night bloomers to make your evening garden a magical and mystical place!
Moonflower: Yes, it should be painfully obvious, but the Moonflower really does bloom at night. It releases a slightly lemony scent when it opens up, and during the day the white flowers are tightly shut. Some species of this climbing plant, a cousin of the Morning Glory, can get up to eight feet long*. The flowers, when open, are around 5 - 6" in diameter.
Evening Primrose: This perennial spreads rapidly, and can cover a lot of ground for you. The pale pinkish-white flowers open at dusk, and release a sweet aroma.
Night Phlox: these pretties open up at dusk, and have a fragrance reminiscent of honey or vanilla.
Evening Stock: the tiny purple and pink flowers aren't very fancy, but they smell divine when they open at night.
Angel's Trumpet: Another vine, this annual spreads like crazy. Its trumpet-shaped, white flowers have a bell-like appearance when open.
Night Gladiolus: this plant isn't actually nocturnal, but that's when the creamy yellow flowers smell the strongest — it's a very spicy scent that's a glorious addition to any night garden.
Day Blooming White and Silver Plants
If you're not interested in a nocturnally-blooming garden, but still love the idea of white and silver to represent the moon and night sky, never fear! There are plenty of silver, white, and even gray plants that bloom during the daytime.
Dusty Millers: Know for their silvery-gray, fern-like foliage, Dusty Millers make a lovely edge or border around your garden — and they don't require a lot of maintenance.
Silver Thyme: The fragrant silver thyme plants have lemon-scented green leaves edged in silver, and the blooms are a pale lavender reminiscent of lilac.
Lamb's Ears: These rapidly spreading ornamentals are soft and fuzzy, just like a lamb's ear, and they're a pale greenish-silver. Watch out, though — if you don't keep them contained, they'll take over your whole yard.
Mugwort (Artemesia): This silvery-green herb smells amazing, and has a number of magical uses.
Silver Sage: Unlike other strains of sage, silver sage has leaves that are intensely silver and fuzzy, arranged in a rosette.
White vegetables such as Alba eggplants or Baby Boo or Lumina pumpkins are a great addition to your garden, and will be perfect for fall decorations!
Herbs and Flowers with Lunar Connections
There are numerous herbs available to plant that have lunar connections.
Camphor: Use camphor for protection or purification — it's known to get rid of negative energies. You can also use it to cleanse crystals and ritual tools; consider adding into your practice to clear out energy in a newly inhabited space or ritual area.
Eucalyptus: Associated with health and healing, as well as protection, fragrant Eucalyptus is a great addition to your garden if you live in a zone that will support it.
Gardenia: This lovely and fragrant flower is connected to peace and harmony, repelling strife, and protection from outside influences. Plant it around the perimeter of your yard, or near your doors, to keep negative people away.
Jasmine: The sensuous scent of Jasmine is popular among perfumers, because it's well known as a flower of attraction. This plant's heady fragrance evokes passion, sensuality, and love.
Moonwort: Associated with dreams and intuition, moonwort is useful in any spellwork involving lunar connections.
Sandalwood: This fragrant wood is associated with healing and purification, as well as business and protection magic; it's found in religious ceremonies and rituals all over the world.
Willow: Planted near your home, Willow will help ward away danger, particularly the type that stems from natural disaster such as flooding or storms. They offer protection, and are often found near cemeteries.
Water Lily: These lovelies often used as ornamentals in ponds are associated with the clarity of desire and direction, as well as the creative process. If you're an artist or maker, keep some water lilies around.
What to do With Your Moon Garden Plants
When you have plants that have blossomed under the powerful energy of a full moon, the possibilities are just about endless. Harvest the flowers and dry them to use in talismans or charms. Use them to dress a Moon Candle or as part of a purification bath. Include them in incense blends to help enhance your intuition and wisdom.
*Note: Be sure to provide a trellis or other support for climbers like the Moonflower. If they don't have a stable surface to hang onto, they're less likely to fully bloom.

Lumina Crookneck Wizard Idea stolen from Kruggsmash
Whole homebrew Pathfinder race undercut if anyone wants that Homebrew race stuff pulled from here
Pumpkinheads
Standard power level
Plant (10 RP) Medium (0 RP) Low Speed (-1 RP)
Standard Ability Score Modifiers (0 RP) Dexterity +2 Constitution +2 Charisma -2
Standard Language Quality (0 RP) Low-Light Vision (1 RP) Cold Vulnerability (-2 RP) Fearless (1 RP) Glow (1 RP)
=========
Plant (10 RP)
This type encompasses humanoid-shaped vegetable creatures. Note that regular plants, such as those found in ordinary gardens and fields, lack Wisdom and Charisma scores and are not creatures, but objects, even though they are alive. A plant race has the following features.
Plants have the low-light vision racial trait. Plants are immune to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms). Plants are immune to paralysis, poison, polymorph, sleep effects, and stunning. Plants breathe and eat, but do not sleep, unless they want to gain some beneficial effect from this activity. This means that a plant creature can sleep in order to regain spells, but sleep is not required to survive or stay in good health.
Low-Light Vision (1 RP): Prerequisites: None; Benefit: Members of this race can see twice as far as a race with normal vision in conditions of dim light.
Cold Vulnerability (-2 RP): Prerequisites: Plant; Weakness: When exposed to Winter weather conditions for at least an hour, Strength checks are halved.
Fearless (1 RP): Prerequisites: None; Benefit: Members of this race gain a +2 racial bonus on all saving throws against fear effects. Special: This bonus stacks with the bonus granted by the lucky (greater or lesser) racial trait.
Glow (1 RP): Prerequisites: Pumpkinhead; Benefit: Members of this race create a 10 foot area of dim light around them in the dark.
=========
-Where does your race tend to live and why?
Pumpkinheads hail from the Autumn kingdom. They are not a particularly widespread race, preferring to stick to the temperate (between low 70s and low 40s with minimal snow and rain fall) forests and plains of the Autumn kingdom. While other races may struggle with the inability to grow many crops due to the climate, Pumpkinheads, being plants, can survive easily on what they can grow and forage in addition to their own pumpkin livestock. While they can process meat and dairy, Pumpkinheads prefer bones and blood to gain such nutrients.
It's only been within the past 30 years that Pumpkinheads have begun to travel and immigrate outside of the Autumn kingdom. They're still a rare sight outside the strip of land on the south side of the Darkwoods Mountains that comprises the Autumn kingdom.
-What does your race look like? How does the members' appearance help them adapt to their typical environment?
Tumblr media
Pumpkinheads avoid traveling to much cooler temperatures due to being plant life. When temperatures become too cold, they will wither and enter a temporary hibernation state until warmed up. While they can die in this state, it would take many months of intense cold for the body to finally die. They dislike intense heat, but they can weather it better with additional water.
Pumpkinfolk possess magic, specifically the ability to trans-mutate other pumpkins. This is the origin of their pumpkin livestock, and how they reproduce. Pumpkinhead reproduction requires two Pumpkinheads and three plain pumpkins. One of these will need to be carved with a face, one will become the torso, and the other will be used to create the vines that form a Pumpkinfolk's limbs.
Pumpkinheads start life as the equivalent of a young human child, and age rapidly after creation. They reach physical adulthood after about 3 years, and their age of majority is 5. Pumpkinheads live for about 20 years after creation. An elderly Pumpkinhead will be softer as they near the end of their life. You can tell a Pumpkinfolk has died as the vines that form their limbs will shrivel up and fall from the pumpkins that form their body.
Pumpkinheads notably glow with dim light from inside their faces in darkness.
-What is your race's history? Does it have a creation myth? Were there pivotal events in the race's history?
The exact creation of Pumpkinheads can actually be tracked to the day. Originally, they were created by a powerful witch, Lavinia, who followed the teachings of Baba Yaga seeking to live unbothered while she attempted to gain greater powers. In order to deter those who would seek to destroy her, she created pumpkin golems to serve as her own private army. Settlements of the Autumn kingdom reported sightings of these pumpkins in the distance. Whether the witch was slain or simply moved on from the Autumn kingdom is lost to Pumpkinhead kind. Whatever happened, these golems were left behind. Left unchecked, the magic grew within the golems as they slowly gained their own sentience. Slowly, they began to form their own settlements.
Pumpkinheads today are recognized as a native race of the Autumn kingdom. They are one of only three races recognized as such (Strangelings (Catfolk, Batfolk, Ratfolk), Boogeymen, and Pumpkinheads).
The most famous Pumpkinhead was a Medium, Mosch Ambercup, who was often consulted by heros seeking to quest in the Darkwoods Mountains beyond the Autumn kingdom. Most notably, he foretold of an undead army attempting to march on Aureas from beyond the mountains in an attempt to seize a priceless artifact housed there: the awakened cauldron, Elias, used by the Pumpkinfolk and visitors alike to enhance potions. Thanks to this forewarning, the Pumpkinheads were able to send for help from nearby Strangeling and Human settlements and defeat the undead hordes. It was a difficult battle, many lives were lost, and over half of Aureas and several Pumpkinhead and Strangeling villages in the warpath were burned down. Mosch gained notoriety as a prophet, at which point, he disappeared, possibly captured, possibly dead, possibly just hiding in the mountains to avoid the pressure of being a celebrated prophet.
-What kinds of relationships does your race have with other races? Does it have allies? Competitors? Enemies? Hated foes?
Pumpkinheads are a non-confrontational race despite their origins. They tend to keep good relations with other races for trading purposes. They have very little contact with non native races aside from humans, who have settlements towards the outskirts of the Autumn kingdom. Their largest settlement is a Pumpkinhead city, Aureas, to the Northern part of the Aumun kingdom. Certain villages have had trouble with feral Strangelings or aggressive humans, but these are not widespread problems.
Following the Darkwoods Raid, the Pumpkinfolk, Strangelings, and a few Human settlements forged a loose government, the Golden Council, comprised of the leaders, or other representatives, of the various villages that meet yearly.
-What classes does your race tend to favor?
Pumpkinfolk tend to favor fighter and ranger with a smaller population of wizards, clerics, and gunslingers. There are a few notable alchemists, specifically in Aureas.
