My dearest Lumi,

Firstly, I want to congratulate you on your follower milestone. You exude talent and grace and I am beyond grateful that you’ve chosen to share your gift of writing with the world. You deserve every ounce of praise.

Secondly, I’d like to put in a request for said follower milestone. I would love if you’d write something for my favorite little lovable pot wash. His presence in Alford Plea makes me smile in abundance and he fills me with immeasurable joy. I have wracked my brain for like three days and just can’t come up with a solid premise so I’m leaving this one up to dealers choice.

He works in one of the best restaurants in the city, which is as fantastic as it is annoying, because it means that you hardly ever see Johnny at normal hours.  His shifts can start at half seven in the morning or two in the afternoon, and they’ve easily gone on for fourteen hours some days.  It’s not entirely unusual for you to be pulled out of deep sleep for a minute or two almost every other night—you’ll hear him try his best to be quiet sneak into your shared flat at and you’ll sleepily wonder if he’ll stick around the next morning long enough for you to make him some coffee or have breakfast together. 

And, of course, when he’s not working or sleeping, he’s studying. 

Your flatmate’s biggest and most well-kept secret is his university degree, one he’s determined to see through while he continues to work.  You wonder how he isn’t closer to burn-out, but you know him.  You’ve known him for a long time.  

He’s one of the hardest working people you know, the most cheerful, the life of the party, radiant and glowing, both inside and out, and you love him you love him you love him��

The front door clicks quietly shut and then—“Bonnie?”— and you smile.  

“In here,” you call out, and hop off the couch to grab him a beer.  He meets you halfway—when you close the fridge door, his goofy smile greets you—and oh.  The man makes your heart flutter, even after all this time.  Especially after all this time.  “Hi,” you whisper, not wanting to break the spell of the moment.  “Alright?”

“Better now,” he says, smiling.  In a few fluid moments, he’s taken the bottle of beer in his hands, used his teeth to open it like the complete savage that he is, lifted you up and set you on the counter.  “So much better now.”  The words are muffled on account of his face being buried in your neck, arms naturally going around you.

The actual time Johnny can spend with you feels like it comes in peaks and troughs, but never his affection—you’re always spoiled in that regard.  

You’ve never bothered labelling this thing you have with him because you don’t need to.  You share the lease of your flat, just as much as you share the good and the bad of your lives.  He’s your best friend, your flatmate, your confidant, your pillar of support, just as much as you’re his bonnie, his emergency contact, his mother’s favourite, his his his.    

“Mmpf—smell nice,” he murmurs (the words muffled against your skin make you shudder and you feel goosebumps along the length of your arms, but Johnny never notices).  Only when he pushes away from you do you get your first proper look at him.   

He looks tired, so so exhausted, but even then, nothing can hide the fact that he glows.  His eyes are melted lazulite under the dim kitchen lights, all the colours of the bright blue sea melted into one.  They hold you captive, and you almost miss his tired babbling.

“...knew it was gonna happen, but right now?  Been just months, wasnae expectin’ it, hen!”

“Wait, what?”

“What?”

You roll your eyes and try to get him to repeat himself.  “What weren’t you expecting, what happened?”

Your words make him roll his eyes mockingly, and he boops your nose lightly.  “You weren’t listenin,’ bonnie?  Simon.  The mad lad’s only gone and married his lass!”

“WHAT?”  Your brows kiss your hairline in shock, and you’re left gaping at him.  “Seriously?”

“Seriously!  Saw her rock on her finger today, massive thing!”  He shakes his head with a smile, and you know it’s in fondness for Simon and his new wife.  “Said Simon wasnae havin’ her hide it anymore.”

“God!  Married!  It’s so…grown up?”

“Suppose so, bonnie.  Nice, though.”  He pushes himself away from you and chugs  half the bottle of beer you’d given him.  “Debrief on the couch?” 

“Yes, please,” you groan and jump off the counter, massaging your buttocks.    

You follow him outside and he plops on to the couch, but there’s no sign of his usual routine of turning the telly on for some football.  You watch as he puts his beer on the coffee table (completely ignoring the coaster, of course) and leans his head back against the couch, looking deep in thought.  

Johnny looks beautiful in that angle, you think—broad shoulders leaning all the way back, his neck exposed and looking ripe for your mouth, your tongue on his skin.  You watch in a daze as he brings his hands up to rub his eyes with his palms, then stretches lightly and relaxes.  “Come sit wi’ me, bonnie,” he says, without opening his eyes, and you’re walking towards him without even registering the fact.  

He draws you in effortlessly, and each time, you fall into his orbit without even the pretence of resistance.     

“It…bothers you?  The fact that Simon’s married now, like a real adult?”  You busy yourself, looking anywhere but him, mindlessly moving his beer onto the coaster.   

“Naw, bonnie…no, it doesnae bother me.  I just…dunno, just bein’ a twat.”

“Maybe,” you say without preamble.  “You’re not…jealous?”

“Shit.  Maybe ah am,” he concedes.  “Dunno, it’s never bothered me like so before.”  He turns to you with a sceptical look in his eyes.  “Ye don’t want it?”

“Marriage?”

“Aye.  That and…to fall in love.”

Ah.  Your mind thumbs through the collection of moments you’ve felt over the years—moments where you’d been so sure that you’d crumble before him, beg him to feel about you the way you felt about him.  The memories flip in your consciousness painfully  until you have a measured response for him.  One that doesn’t give you away.  

“Doesn’t everyone?” you whisper.  

“Aye, of course.  But it’s different.  Girls are supposed to want it more?”  He says the words with a mischievous grin, and you have to scoff at the obvious attempt to rile you up. 

“That’s very feminist of you.”

“Just saying’ what ah’ve heard!”

“And yet, you’re the one bitching about it, John.”

“John?!  Ach, bonnie, you cannae call me that!” he says in mock-horror, hand reaching up to grasp at his chest.  And then he smiles at you again, sincere and full of light and so, so him, that you return in, almost involuntarily.  “Ah’m happy for him, of course.  He’s happy.  In love.  Happy.”

You laugh out loud before you can help it and take a second to notice his glare.  “Sorry, sorry!” you wheeze, sounding decidedly not sorry.  “You sounded like you wanted to fuck him there, for a second, I’m sorry!”

“Aye well, he’s handsome, no?  I’d go fo’ him!”

“...yeah.”  You sigh dreamily as you think about Johnny’s boss—tall and handsome, with arms the size of trucks—and the appeal is obvious.  You’ve met Simon several times over the years, and he’s only ever shown you respect and polite interest.  He’s not exactly your type, but even you can’t turn your nose up at a man that looks like Simon does.

“Okay, that’s enough daydreamin,’ brat!”  Johnny laughs, knocking into your shoulder with his own.  “Lustin’ after a married man.”  He shakes his head dramatically.  “Yer shameful.”

“Nah.  I’m happy for him too!  And…you needn’t be upset about this, Johnny—”

“I’m no’ upset at all—”

“I know.”  You put your hands up in surrender.  “You can be happy for your friend, and for Simon, and you can want it for yourself too.  Nothing wrong with that.”  You try to keep your voice calm, but understanding.  After all, you know all too well the feelings of both, coveting and being happy for your friend.    

 “Guess not.  N’ these things take time, do they not?  It’ll happen?”

“It’ll happen,” you confirm.  “Just need to find the right person and feel the right feelings for them.”    

“Gosh, this conversation’s makin’ me miserable!  Hate bein’ single, y’know?  S’not good for me.”  He leans against the backrest again, and turns his head just so he can look at you.  “We’re both single at the same time in a long time, bonnie.  Ye realised that yet?”

“Shit.  Yeah, you’re right!  Wow.  I hadn’t realised that!”   In fact, you hadn’t stopped thinking about it.             

“We oughta do somethin’ abou’ it?”

You hope to god your laugh only sounds nervous to your own ears, and that you don’t like a character in a Sunday morning cartoon with your shifty eyes that don’t dare stray in the direction of Johnny’s face.  “How about, tomorrow, I pick you up after your shift and buy you a drink?  We’ll even stop at that nasty chicken shop you like after.  So you can’t complain that I don’t do anything nice for you!”  

His eyes melt, and you along with them.  “Thank ye, bonnie.”

“Always.”

You can’t help but smile when his eyes radiate pure happiness at your words.  It takes so little to make Johnny happy and you want to spend a lifetime doing it.  So lost are you in the thought, that you don’t notice the twitch in the muscles of his forearm at the look on your face, how his fingers tremble as they cup your cheek.  When he kisses your forehead gratefully and leans away from you, you don’t hear his heart speed up or his shaky exhale, don’t feel his clammy palms.   

“And you’ve ne’er felt it, eh?  The right feelin’ for the right person?” he quotes you.

“No,” you lie.  I love you.  “You?”

“No,” he lies.  “But…maybe someday, eh?”

“Maybe someday,” you agree, easily.

“You were the brightest shade of sun when I saw you. And surely, you will be the death of me, but how could I have known?”

Sunny days were more than rare on Kuraigana Island. They were practically nonexistent. That was why, on the off chance a ray of sun made its way through the gloom, you could be found laying in it.

You were dozing, basking in the warmth of your lone sunbeam. Dry grass prickled the back of your neck, and you slid your arms behind your head to protect the sensitive skin. Your mind slipped in and out of your dreams, barely aware of the world as it moved around you. Distantly, you could hear Perona’s laugh, or the stomp of Zoro’s boots as he strode through the empty halls. There were no birds to chirp, no insects to tickle your cheeks. The only signs of life around you was the sparse garden you had started to add a splash of color to the gray.

You loved your garden, and you were starting to believe that your host did too. Unlike the land he tilled, it was mostly flowers. Mihawk was a hard man to read, but after a year of living with him, you were starting to get the hang of it. His golden eyes would linger on the colorful petals, and every so often, you could see his nostrils flare as he breathed in the sweet air. You could feel your lips twitch at the thought. He liked to group you in with those freeloading kids — freeloading kids you couldn’t help but be fond of — but you knew your worth.

Besides, it was easier to mooch off Mihawk’s warlord status rather than fight off swathes of marines yourself. Didn’t they ever get tired? You sure did.

Footsteps approached you from afar, and through your sleepy haze, you almost thought it was Zoro coming to steal your sunshine. If you were more awake, you would have recognized Mihawk’s near silent footfalls. They were distinct, far quieter than the other two— though you knew they were capable of it, you wished they chose to utilize said skill more often.

You ignored him, still under the impression he was Zoro, and continued to doze. Minutes passed, the intruder’s gaze soaking into your skin, past your flesh, and into your bones. Without meaning to, you fell into a deeper slumber, the slow rise and fall of your chest evening out ever so slightly. The feeling of fingers brushing through your hair caused you to stir. There was a pause in movement, before something tickled against your ear, and the hand pulled away.

It was a fleeting interaction, one you were sure you dreamed until you awoke an hour later, chilled to your marrow. The sun dipped behind the clouds yet again, leaving you cold and wanting for more. A weight against your ear caught your attention. Lips parted in surprise, you plucked a marigold from behind your ear and stared down at it.

“Where did you come from,” You muttered, twirling the stem between your thumb and forefinger. It was a beautiful shade of gold. It reminded you of Mihawk's eyes, and you couldn’t stop your heart from fluttering.

There was no denying there were feelings for the warlord brewing under the surface. He was a handsome man. His confidence was what drew you, but what made you stay was the softness he kept hidden. Mihawk could have kicked you out months ago, yet here you were, sleeping in the garden with a flower behind your ear.

“Enjoy your nap?” It wasn’t a question, not really. You rubbed the sleep out of your eyes and stared over at the lounging warlord, a glass of wine by his side as he read his book.

You pointed at him with the flower. “Was this you?”

Mihawk gave you a once over, his expression cool disinterest. “What does that little flower have to do with me?”

“Don’t play dumb.”

He was quiet for a moment, taking a lazy sip of his wine. “I do not ‘play dumb,’ Y/N.” His sharp eyes traveled from your face to the flower, and his lips pulled into the barest smirk. “Though I can’t say that color doesn’t suit you.”

“See! It was you, I was right.” Triumph flooded your face, your smile big and all encompassing. Mihawk studied your expression, eyes soft for a moment before they were back to the hardness you knew so well.

Mihawk stood, closing the gap between you in a few strides. To have a warlord towering over you while you sat in the grass should have been terrifying. All you could do was grin. He kneeled before you, plucking the flower from your hand. Your fingers felt empty without it. Holding your gaze, Mihawk stared deep into your eyes as he tucked it back behind your ear, fingertips grazing your jaw before he pulled away.

“You proved nothing but my point. Gold suits you.”

You snorted. “Like your eyes?”

He unfolded his legs and stood at his full height before offering you his hand. His palm was callused from years of swordplay, though his grip on your forearm was gentle

“Like the dawn,” Mihawk said.

His words were matter of fact, as if they weren’t enough to drown you. You stumbled, halfway off the ground. The only thing holding you aloft was Mihawk, whose stare never left your face, even while you gaped up at him. With a final tug, he hauled you to your feet. You stayed stock still, gaze firmly locked on his own, though he didn’t appear at all affected by the sincerity of his compliment. Not like you, at least. Mihawk frowned slightly and pulled a leaf from your hair. It fluttered to your feet.

“Close your mouth, dear, you’ll catch flies.” The pet name rolled off his tongue smoothly.

Your jaw snapped shut and a hint of amusement flitted across Mihawk’s face.

What if you were born to be dear to him? Although you wondered that for a while now, the words seemed to be caught in your throat. Of all the millions upon millions of people who inhabited this world, you sure you were made to slot inside his bones and meld your flesh with his. That, the first day you saw him, the only thing you could think was: at last.

That was too vulnerable, though. Instead of making a fool of yourself with sentiments and feelings that were better left unsaid, you picked up the leaf and set it on his shoulders.

“You’ll be the death of me, Dracule Mihawk.”

He sighed and flicked the leaf from his shoulders. “And you, me”

Four years, and still going...

Wowie, the years sure fly by, don't they? It's hard to believe that it wasn't just yesterday that this MFRP came to be. That today, on this very day four years ago, was when Isola became established as a place for people to come in and write together. Of course, there's more to it than just us making a blog, some graphics, and putting some guidelines down. What makes Isola unique is the collaboration of many thoughtful and talented writers that make up our little internet community, and the amazing ability to have everyone integrate and have fun with each other while it happens. Radial Island is just a setting; what keeps it engaging and ever-changing are the colorful specks of life you all breathe into your characters.

Without you all, this place would hardly have grown to what it is today after everything we've all been through. Everything from the fond memories fostered over silly dash commentaries, to member-run activities that people put their hearts into for others--or events being drawn out to their fullest potential with everyone's contribution and writing… It's all truly wonderful to see. It's that feeling when everyone sees a character reach a milestone, or when that ship finally kisses, or when a character finds the family they never got in their own canon. The dramatic and tragic threads, the ones that make you laugh in public on your phone… those are the kinds of things that make us so, so happy to see play out in our little group. Isola Radiale would genuinely be nothing without everyone who has chosen to join and write their hearts out alongside each other. And, going into another year, we hope that this spirit of friendly collaboration and creativity rebound not only off of the people who are already here, but extends an arm out to people who want to find a lovely community to fit comfortably into.

It feels like there aren't any perfect words to express how much we appreciate everything that all of you have done in our time together, but we tried our best to extend our feelings of gratitude out to you, whom none of this would be possible without. First Anniversary of my first sideblog!

Hello, all you beautiful people! It’s almost February 16th, and that marks an important milestone in my Tumblr history- creating my first sideblog ever, Shonenlinkage! It’s dedicated to Shonen anime and a fanfic of mine (Which is also available on Wattpad), as well as OCs called Linkers. To celebrate the one year anniversary of me making my first ever sideblog, I decided to make this piece of art for you all of the gang! A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Soap’s love language is physical touch, and this is primarily how he shows affection.   He’s always touching you in some way—his hand on the nape of your neck, or the base of your spine, or massaging the tension in your shoulders or absent-mindedly running up and down your arm. It’s as much of a comfort to him as it is to you.   

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Supportive.  Whether it's shenanigans or a shoulder to cry on, Johnny is your best friend, your confidant, your number one fan…and eventually, the love of your life. Your friendship started like this:  On your way back from school one way, you notice a distressed John MacTavish, frozen in terror from watching a few dogs run around the park off leash.  But…he has to walk through the park to go home and he can’t.  So you walk up to him, 7 years old, and with just as much power in you as jet fuel, and you grab his hand and you take him home. You’ve never let go since. 

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Johnny’s a serial cuddler.  He’s one of those who, if you inch away from him in bed, he will find you and wrap himself around you.  His favourite way to cuddle is to spoon you, tangle your legs together, and bury his face in your neck.  But…if you turned around and put your head on his chest?  Well.  He’s not complaining.  

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Absolutely he wants to settle down with you.  He wants the picket fence and the dogs and the cats.  He wants the sick days and the days you skip work to just laze around in bed with him and the days when you’re so busy, you don’t realise he’s at the door of your office, just watching you with a smile on his face. He grew up in a big family, with brothers and sisters who were all taught that cooking and cleaning are life skills.  He’s quite self-sufficient and when he says he’s your partner, he means it.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Even with how strong and steady the two of you are, he’s thought about this.   When you were in the middle of moving in with him, stressed and tired from the packing and the unpacking and everything that came with it, his work phone had rung.  You’d both been in the middle of dinner, and your chopsticks had frozen half-way to your mouth.   When he’d had to leave early the next morning, you’d cried so much, he’d wondered if making you go through this was the right thing to do.  Was he being selfish?  Was he causing you pain because of his selfishness?    Ultimately, if he had decided to end things off with you, he’s pretty sure you’d have thrown your pretty vase at him.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

He’ll marry you today, if you asked it of him.  He’ll marry you right now. Johnny’s the kind of man who can’t wait to be married to you for ten years, twenty, fifty.  He can’t wait to be married to you for longer than he wasn’t married to you. 

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Sometimes he worries that the hands he uses to touch you, to show you how he feels about you, are the same hands he uses to kill. He’s not one to dwell on thoughts like these, but they do cross his mind.   It’s why he’s as gentle as he is with you.  He doesn’t treat you like glass (far from it, he knows you can take care of yourself) but in Johnny’s mind, there’s a role for you both—him, doing his best to give you the world the only way he knows how, and you, protected in the safety of his love.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

When you’d described Johnny’s hugs as healing, he’d laughed at you, blue eyes melting into yours, happy, shining.  He’d said he didn’t get it. But you get it.  You know that when he wraps his arms around you, one hand on your lower back, the other cradling your head, holding him tight to him, you feel the day’s stress melt away.  He absorbs every worry, every insecurity, every doubt, shields you from the world’s cruelty when he holds you to his broad, strong chest.     

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

He didn’t wait long at all.  He’d known you since you were children.  He’s loved you as far long back as he had memories.  When he’d finally confessed, you’d cried, then laughed—pressing one palm to teasingly turn his face away from you, while your other clenched around his collar to pull him closer to you in a kiss that sealed your promise to each other.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Johnny isn’t inherently a jealous person.  He’s secure in the knowledge that he has you, that you have him, that you belong together in a way that no over-eager boy in a pub that flirts with you can even hope to touch.   

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

When Johnny kisses you, it feels like time stops.  He holds your face in his hands, his brows furrowed and shoulders pulled into his chest—he gives it his entire attention.  There’s nothing in that moment except you and him and the feeling of his skin against yours, your shared breath, and the promise of happiness in every moment you’ll spend with him when that ends.  Johnny kisses you like a man starved.    He kisses you everywhere—the man is devoted to  you—and there’s not an inch of your skin that the soft skin of his lips hasn’t worshipped.  He loves any form of affection from you, but his absolute favourite is late at night, when you think he’s fast asleep and you cuddle up closer to him, and kiss the edge of his jaw, his cheek, his forehead.  He’s always left staggered by how loved he feels in those moments.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

He’s lovely with children.  You’ve seen him interact with his little nieces and nephews, and yours.   All the kids love their Uncle Johnny, and the funny voices and faces he makes, how he’s as much of a child with them as they are.  You’d seen him rocking his littlest nephew to sleep, once, humming to him, and his sister had teased you gently about the tears that had spilled over your cheeks at the scene. 

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Johnny’s a morning person, and so, most mornings, he’s back from the gym and showered and in the kitchen fixing breakfast when you’re waking up. But some mornings, he can’t bear to disentangle himself from you, and so you spend a slow, lazy morning in bed together, talking, making out, cuddling and laughing.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

What he misses most of all when he’s away is the mundaneness of an evening spent together with you—cooking dinner together, watching a show or movie with you that you’ll never get past the first ten minutes of, watching you with an indulgent smile as you talk to him about your day. The more he thinks about nights like these the more a desk job seems attractive to him.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Johnny’s always been an open book to you.  Always worn his heart on his sleeve. Of course, with the nature of his work, there’s only so much of himself he can reveal to strangers.  But even so, one of the things that attracts you to him is his innate desire to connect with people.  He’s always willing to give people a chance, always eager to get to know people, understand them so he can help them.  It requires him to open himself up to them too, make himself a little vulnerable.  He’s never afraid of it.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

He’s not easily angered at all.  In fact, he’s one of the most patient men you know.  He believes there’s almost nothing a gentle word or two can’t resolve.   But there are…moments.  Moments where his grip on his rage has been tenuous, at best, the high points of his cheek a distinct red, fists clenched at his sides.  Coiled.  Still.  Ready to strike.  The common thread connecting these moments has been his helplessness.    If he sees a dire situation he can’t change, something outside of his control, something he can’t melt with just his honeyed words, an injustice he can’t correct, it angers him.  You’ve felt maybe a handful of them in the two decades you’ve known each other.  Sometimes you wonder if that’s only the case because he keeps these moments out of your sight, when he’s deployed. 

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

Oh, you’re convinced he has super-human memory. You shouldn’t be surprised, really, you shouldn’t.  With what he does for a living, of course he’s detail oriented, of course he remembers everything.   But that doesn’t mean you find it jarring every time he brings up something you’d brought up in conversation randomly once, and then he has to remind you of the story you’d told him.  You’re embarrassed every single time.  He finds it adorable. 

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

The one time you’d gotten in a bar fight, and it had coincided with the same evening he’d come back early from his deployment to surprise you.  You’d surprised him by meekly asking him to come bail you out instead.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

He’s not over-protective so much as he’s…a worry wart?  He trusts you, implicitly and absolutely, and he trusts you to take care of yourself.  He’s not naturally a jealous person, but he’s seen enough of the world to worry about you.  Sometimes he’ll hover.  It’s a rare occasion that Johnny gets pushed to the brink, towers behind you, strong and tall and proud, and has to posture, for the sake of ridding you of unwanted attention. 

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

Within the limits of his job, he’d try.  He’d try his very best to arrange for flowers, gifts beforehand, so there’s no birthday or anniversary or special day that goes by without him having given you something to remember him by.  He enlists the help of his sisters, who are more than happy to help, but only after relentlessly teasing him about how whipped he is. The most special thing is that he writes to you.  He leaves you little notes, sometimes, and other times it’s letters he’ll write in his beautiful script.  He’ll even doodle on the margins of the paper, because he knows it makes you smile.   But sometimes, he has to rely on good old fashioned text messages, and that’s when your heart hurts the most.  Often, because of the time difference, you’ll wake up to the most beautiful photo of lush green, or the most amazing sand dunes, and it’ll be accompanied by a heartfelt message, filled with a longing so sincere, it’ll make your heart clench.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Not particularly a bad habit but.  You’re not particularly a fan of the mohawk.  He grows his hair out for you in between deployments.  (Relationships are about compromise, after all.)

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

He’s not vain, not at all.  He does take care of himself though.  A happy bonus of it all is that he loves the effect he has on you.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

He doesn’t believe in the concept.  He’s not incomplete without you, just as he’s not complete with you.  You’re both complete individuals, within yourselves, within who you are as people.  What you have together is magic, though.  It’s enchanting and perfect, and though you’re two complete people, there’s an undeniable part of the other in each of you.  

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

His favourite getaway with you was when you’d both rented a little cabin deep in the Inner Hebrides for a week, and all you’d done was exist with each other.  Most days, you hadn’t even left the cabin.  Just spent the time together, talking to each other for hours, laughing and reminiscing, enjoying the outrageously luxurious bathtub.   Ever since then, he insists that you go on similar holidays at least once every year.  Just him and you and the peace that comes with knowing that he’s with the person he loves most in the world. 

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

Cheating would be a non-negotiable deal breaker.  He gives you everything he has, everything he is, unconditionally.  If his trust is broken so fundamentally, there’s no coming back from that.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

He’s a very light sleeper, easily woken up by anything and everything. This means that, more often than not, he finds himself tracing the lines of your face, the delicate veins on the inside of your wrist.  It’s a luxury he’s only afforded when you’re deep asleep, and he finds that he doesn’t mind the lack of sleep so much.  He’s just happy to be there with you in bed, listen to you breathe deeply, sync his breaths with yours, gradually fall asleep, holding the most important thing in his life in his arms.

As a few people, I kind of wanted to get my thoughts of this year out there. It’s kind of all jumbled and I’m sorry, I’m just going with my train of thoughts. I won’t force y’all to see a giant post so if you’d like to read, it’s under the cut. I will say thank you to Katie, Astro, Sam, Alexis (Lex) , Lexi, Lola, Lumi, Sammy, Elle, Lydz, Rachel, Athena, Gab, Cal, Alice, Clara, Violet, Denise, Eden, Starshine, and many more for making this year better for me. Ilysm and I don’t know what I’d do without y’all <3 (also hi sorry I don’t talk to many of you often. I’m too scared <//3)

This year has probably been one of the shittiest yet ok year I’ve ever fucking had. With the entire pandemic and all the bullshit this year has thrown at us, it’s not very surprising that I consider it shitty but for the ok portion, it’s because of the people I’ve gotten to know thanks to Tumblr, that made this year ok. Many of you know, I was @hurtbycanonthoughts-deactivated and god fucking damn does seeing that “-deactivated” still hurt me. When I made that account on May 29th, I didn’t expect a single fucking thing. I only made it because Katie had encouraged me to also start writing, knowing that I had wanted too for a little bit so when she made her account, she also told me that maybe I should too. I was absolutely terrified when I made that account and the first post proved it. I started off simply writing for some cool fandoms (not you voltron I hate you) that I was apart of. Before I could even blink, I had hit a milestone for me and I was absolutely surprised. I had mainly only wrote for two of the things I enjoyed so gaining followers and friends over just two of those genuinely surprised me. I remember telling Katie I hit 100 and I was about to start crying because I had never imagined getting anywhere(?) on here. I’ve been on here since I was 12 so I was used to getting to some milestones and all but for my writing? Couldn’t be more surprised yall like it lmao.

As for deactivating, I don’t believe I ever gave a real reason besides I was really upset and my mental health just,,, needed it gone. While yes that’s true, I do have more reasons as to why I couldn’t stay on an account that used to make me so happy. For one, the hate was getting to the point I had deleted the app and turned off anon 3 different times because it hurt me so fucking bad. I’m not sure what I had done and I know not everyone will like me but it hurt that someone could hate me that fucking bad that they even wished some really terrible shit to me when I did stupid shit again. Thanks to that, my already pretty terrible mental health just went downhill and I sat on my couch crying because I no longer wanted to be on this site and I genuinely hated writing. Along with that though, I was nearing 1.4K and yet the interactions with my followers was absolutely terrible. I think only like 10% ever interacted with my stuff so I was genuinely upset over it. Even now barley any of them interact with my stuff but at least I’m not upset over 1K doing it?? Idk sounds shitty but whatever. Deactivating was honestly the hardest thing for me. I lost so many of my friends/mutuals because I’m genuinely too scared to be like “hi I’m ariel! Sorry for deactivating lmaoooooo” when it’s been about 3 weeks since I got rid of it. I put all my time and effort into that when I just,,, got rid of it because my stupid ass was crying? Fucking pathetic tbh. (Don’t be nice to me on that I’m so fucking mad at myself still).

Lastly before I start ✨crying✨, I think the only good things that came from being here was my wonderful mutuals/friends. Y’all have made my 2020 so much better and I couldn’t be more thankful for you. Even to those who I used to be friends with but decided to go their separate way, I wish nothing but the best for you and I am so happy that we were friends for as long as we were. All of you have helped me become a much better person than I was at the start of the year and honestly probably made me more happy than anyone has in my 20 years of life. Which may seem a little sad or surprising but honestly, y’all are the best fucking people I could ever ask for.

Polishing

As I stated in the previous blog post, the goal for now is to make the game ready for trailer recording. I think it’s going quite well.

I’ve been going through all the rooms, updating and improving things here and there, and I think I’m finally at the stage where I can say that the rooms that are currently in the game, are the rooms (or at least extremely close to the rooms) that are going to be in the final version of the game! That’s a pretty big milestone to pass.

But not the “Polish - Stage 2“ milestone. While updating the rooms is a part of it, it’s not all of it. There’s still a bunch of work (especially audio-wise) that needs to be done.

Now that the rooms are finalized, I can move onto working on other stuff. I’ve actually done quite a few things already. Here are some highlights:

Fixed cat metaballs not being visible on certain machines. (Metaballs are what’s used to give the cats that smooth blob-like look.)

Cats now properly collide with each other.

Fixed NPCs not moving.

Added heart emote.

Added arrow emotes.

The text box writing thing now stops the previous text write if it’s still being written and a new thing that needs to be written is given. Before this the two texts would start to overlap and the end result would be quite messy.

Fixed being able to split text tha

t was being written by pressing the jump button.

Added text writing sounds.

Added newline support for the text box thing. I’m mostly using this to avoid awkward line breaks in text.

Adjusted the look of the text box. It is no longer spread across the entire bottom of the screen, and is instead in a smaller, neater box at the bottom-center.

Added proper, moving audio sources for NPCs. Previously you could hear all the NPCs jumping as if they were right in front of you.

Added the ability to control music with triggers.

Added separate cameras for the ability ring and the cannon.

The ability ring camera is used to make sure that the view is centered on Lumi whenever you get a new ability.

The cannon camera is used to zoom out a bit and get a better view of what’s up ahead. (I’ll post gifs of these on Twitter.)

Now for the trailer:

I already have a script for it, and a shot list of all the things I need. This isn’t an exact shot list. It alternates between specific places in the game, and just “some gameplay here”.

- so first of all i absolutely adore all the magical creatures you have in this world like wow. they’re amazing

- all of your ocs will be adopted by Warin i promise you. he loves adopting people, no matter how old they are. he will be Aiden’s father figure whether he likes it or not. also Jeris would also adopt Aiden and everyone else. they both have a problem with adopting people.

- Warin adopting Aiden and Co. means that they now have many more siblings, including Jayi, Culraes, Sazai, Lei-ya, and Tasiriti. 

- which means that there are two people who are willing to help the gang train and just learn how to use swords more. also they just like to fight, swords or no swords

- also. Ava’lyn would either get along great with Amary or they’d butt heads. i’m not sure which. they’re both stubborn princesses. but! Rosar would probably like her, if she’s not a bit stressed with another Amary-type around

- i think that Rosar would befriend Emery, no matter how hard it would be. she just has such a soft and gentle presence i feel she could befriend him.

- also Rosar would also like Diane. 

- everyone would like Diane except for Erihhn but Erihhn doesn’t like anyone and i don’t like Erihhn. i would sell him to satan for less than one corn chip.

- i think that maybe Eira would help Jaxon bake but she would also be very stressed about baking because she’s never really baked a whole lot

- Lumi would definitely paint with Jaxon!!! and Eira would hang out with them while they’re painting!

- as for the sand dragons. Jayi wants to find one and possibly fight one. she’s a dragonborne and loves to get in fights. getting in fights with a dragon, whether it’s one of those sand dragons or not, sounds like fun

- but Athum things the Scryndru are super interesting and wants to know all about them

- unicorns. Jeris would be very interested in the unicorns. just as i am interestedin these unicorns. 

- Jayi, Culraes, and Amary would definitely train and fight with anyone who wanted to

- don’t get started with the pixies. there would be some misunderstandings, i’m sure. trouble.

- it’d just be madness tbh

- there’s so many characters and they’re all so different and already get into trouble in their own world who knows what kind of trouble they would get into in a world different from their own
