Undertale Voice Musings + Choir

Fact: I am a huge choir nerd.

Fact: Back in like 2019, I made a soundfont using the Undertale characters' voice blips, and recently re-made that soundfont to work better, creating things like this:

This one is "Your Fault" from Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods. Featuring Asriel as Jack, Sans as The Baker, Shyren as Cinderella, Gaster as Little Red Riding Hood, and Temmie as The Witch.

In addition to making a soundfont that just re-pitches the blips as they exist in-game, I also made one that loops a portion of the sound so the notes can be sustained, which means I can make cool choir pieces like these:

This one is "Dunkelian Lullaby," a choir piece I composed a while back. If you like this one, I do plan on selling the sheet music for it on MusicaNeo as Eila Mirlen! Keep an eye out for it there ;)

This one is "Love is Love is Love is Love," by Abbie Betinis, from the Justice Choir Songbook. If you're a choir nerd or a teacher looking for free, accessible, quality music, I would definitely check it out!

Anyway, the fun part is that if you listen closely, even in the sustained soundfont, you may be able to pick out the characters' individual voices. For example, Sans and Gaster tend to be pretty loud. Flowey and Temmie are also pretty obnoxious (I have them turned way down in the last example, but they should be in your right ear.)

Some Notes on Ranges

The thing about these guys is that they are... not real and literally just cool synthesizers, so technically they can sing in any range. However, like with voices, they do have ranges they sound the best in and—related specifically to this soundfont I made—here are my notes about where I would place each character in a choir! (Note that I often break these assignments when I arrange choir stuff with these guys just because the number of characters on each part is out of balance otherwise.)

Temmie and Gaster have the largest ranges, being able to sing 5 octaves (although Gaster cheats and goes back down the octave sometimes, like a Shepard tone—I’ve futzed with his voice enough already and don’t feel like fixing it). Temmie’s 5 octaves, surprisingly, starts an octave lower than Gaster’s. (Damn, Temmie.)

Shyren, Mettaton, and Undyne are close behind. They can each sing 4 octaves; Shyren’s range sits one octave higher than Mettaton and Undyne’s.  (Admittedly, Undyne’s very low range sounds a lot like burps, but it’s very strong anyway.)

Toriel, Asgore, Asriel, Flowey, and Alphys have a large range of 3 octaves, Asgore starting lowest, then Flowey, then Asriel and Toriel and Alphys.

Sans and Papyrus have the smallest ranges, at 2 octaves, and they are exactly the same.

NOTE: technically—being synthesizers—all of them can sing past these given ranges. But at the low end they tend to sound burpy and bad, and at the very high end they might be too quiet to be worthwhile.

Ideal Ranges:

Note: many of them can sing in multiple ranges—as seen above—but these are the ones I put them in most often based on where their original voice clips sit (the root) AND the vibes they give me (with some exceptions).

Alphys: Alto - root = F4

Asgore: Bass – root = E3

Asriel: General Treble (tend towards soprano range) – root = A-A♭4

Flowey: General Treble (tend towards mezzo range) – root = E4

Gaster: Baritone/Tenor – root = all over the place because I used 7 different clips for him. Most of the fun timbre switching happens in the two octaves between C3 and C5.

Mettaton: Baritone/Tenor (tend towards tenor range) – root = E♭4

Papyrus: Baritone/Tenor (He CAN sing in a lower range, but it’s not quite as nice as the higher range) – root = E♭4

Sans: Tenor/Countertenor (controversially, I might add. IDK, he can sing in a low range but IMO it sounds... bad, especially when he’s not sustaining the notes because then he just sounds like he’s burping. Actually, for that reason I usually stick him on alto parts) – root = E-E♭4 (you could argue I have the octave wrong, but even then, his root is E-E♭3 and I would still probably stick him more in the tenor range than the bass range—pitches lower than his root sound... not very good. I think he just has a very resonant voice.)

Shyren: Soprano – root = B♭4

Temmie: Soprano – root = G4 (with the caveat that if she’s not sustaining notes, the mezzo-range is stronger for her)

Toriel: Soprano/Mezzo – root = E♭4 (I try to put her and Asriel on different parts because *technically* their voices are exactly the same; Toriel’s speaking voice in-game is just lower. I did add some vibrato to Toriel’s voice to help a little.)

Undyne: Alto/Contralto – root = B♭3

Other Notes:

Asriel sounds good staccato but is really pitchy when asked to hold a note. (I went back and fixed this. But now it’s a headcanon that he can’t hold a pitch any better than your average human child can, I guess.)

Gaster’s sustained low range is also incredibly pitchy. A little sharp, maybe, up until A3. (I fixed this, too. He also no longer jumps octaves in the middle of his range for no reason.)

Papyrus is also INCREDIBLY pitchy when sustaining notes. (This got fixed. But now the headcanon is that he’s maybe a little tone-deaf, or maybe he just gets overexcited and pushes himself sharp or flat.)

Sans actually sounds like… a lot BETTER when sustained, throughout his range because it no longer has the quality of a burp.

Shyren’s voice is strong but her major scale sounds minor when she sustains notes and its weird??? Very flat. (This was also an error on my part, because my tuning skills are bad at 9 o’clock at night. Maybe she tends to fall flat when she’s nervous.)

Temmie sounds good no matter what range. A little trumpet-like, though, and can be overpowering.

Toriel also sounds really good sustained and a lot stronger. She’s still pretty quiet tho.

Alphys’ high range is stronger when sustained.

Undyne’s fine. Weaker in the high range in general.

Flowey is LOUD and OBNOXIOUS.

Range Samples

The image above just shows you which notes and stuff are playing in the above example. Each character starts with "speaking" on the same pitch their voice sounds in game (approximately, in some cases), then a two-octave scale to show off the qualities of their low, mid, and high ranges.

For once I post something story related to UnderREM, that i drew in the same day. Because I was going for something else to reveal Mettaton. Which turned into story halfway through. So there we go! One of the well known Guardians goes missing and NO ONE says anything about it?? Ridiculous. Dream was expecting a over the top argument over nothing as one usually would with Mettaton and now he’s got legitimate questions being thrown at him.

kris has an odd relationship with spamton. he doesnt speak to any other party member until the beginning of the neo fight, he has some connection to mettaton neo (or maybe thats just a reference??)

this is the first time the human soul's potential is talked about before Queen does so later

after the fight he also says that the three party members have "strings" and ?? its implied that the party is being manipulated??? by who???? and what do his own strings represent?

this might be omori brain taking over but considering how kris is linked to pianos in game (constantly searching up tutorials on how to play, not having any skill ingame despite apparently having been able to play "beautifully" beforehand, looking "pissed off" when susie makes fun of them for not playing well)

shitpost level theory that kris wanted to be good at something the same way asriel was so they took up piano but once asriel left they stopped playing... maybe that's why spamton talks about making it big so much. maybe kris wanted to "make it big" by being special in a way asriel wasnt. you could even tie this into how queen banned music or sweet capn cakes and whatnot. wait shit doesnt ralsei sing lullabies and asriel sang in the church choir aaaAAAA

i wish we knew the story behind "memory" and "his theme". i'm gonna sound like a madman for a few moments, but hear me out.

if you're not familiar with the story of "mother" (aka "earthbound begginings"), basically, the main characters have to "collect" 8 fragments of the forgotten melody and then use it to defeat final boss: this song is a lullaby, that his adoptive mother used to sing to him, so when he's reminded of this song, he eventually becomes overwhelmed by memories and runs away.

i can't help but wonder if toby was inspired by this when he created true pacifist final battle in undertale. the whole thing in the end is that you (or, possibly, chara themself) remind asriel about the past and how much he cared about chara, and it's the only thing that can finally stop him. the tone is different, of course, way more emotional, but i think general idea is pretty much the same.

but what i wanna focus on is the song. in "mother" it's the most important element of the final battle and, well, even though it's pretty damn interesting element in undertale as well, we never learn the true significance of "memory"/"his theme".

1) "memory" is one of the few undertale songs that exists in-universe. i'm talking about the piano puzzle and the weird statue that plays this song.

2) the statue itself is mysterious as hell. a lot of people theorized that this statue was supposed to be a part of memorial fountain in MTT resort, but has been replaced with mettaton or something. this royal memorial fountain was built in 201X and, well. there were probably only one reason to build this fountain around that time.

other than that, the very weird thing happens if you hang out in the room after song starts to play: in the dark, somewhere behind a wall, the solution for this puzzle appears in the form of weird floating symbols. almost like... someone, who knows how to play this, is trying to help you (i know, this was probably added for accessibility, but it's still a part of the game).

3) "memory" is also referenced in another very important song, "undertale". the tune is played on guitar and represents asriel's part of of the story, while piano plays "once upon a time" motif and represents chara's part of the story (at least, if timing is right).

4) "his theme", which has the same melody as "memory", starts playing the moment we "reach out and call [someone else's] name" in the final battle. while it plays, asriel remembers how much he cares about chara. so this song is not just asriel's theme, this song either reminds asriel of the time he spent with chara OR reminds "someone else" about the time they spent with asriel. i mean. could be both, right?

5) collector's edition heart locket has a little music box in it, that plays "memory". toby said that merch is not canon, but it's neat.

so, this song exists in-universe and it's important for both chara and asriel. even the name "his theme" kinda reminds me of the way chara speaks ("his bed"). but what is this melody? where did it come from? some of my favorite theories:

this song was written for asriel by chara. this theory works only in tandem with another theory: that chara could play the piano or some other instrument. this is why it's so interesting that kris, who's already somewhat similar to chara, can actually play the piano.

it's just some song that asriel used to sing all the time, like children often do, so chara named it "his theme".

maybe some merch is canon actually and heart locket had music box in it. it works well with the narrative and the way "memory" sounds very much like a music box melody, but since it was never mentioned in the game, i doubt it's true.

Oh my god *rubs her face as she smiles thinking back* their singing is just… so angelic. Mettaton ADORES them for it and has been training them to sing more in the future. I remember when I first heard them sing was when they were against mettaton. Data was doing most of the action and work with some “Starry Magic” of course Mettaton noticed that Frisk was not doing anything and trapped Data so they could do a performance. Honestly I was worried. Frisk wasn’t as social and open as they are now back then. They could barely even speak. But the moment Frisk was put on the spot they for once spoke perfectly and pitch perfect. Like I said. The voice of an angel… *holds her poncho on her chest once again* it’s ironic… They sang Azzy’s lullaby they found back in snowdin.

Kris: *Looks at her curious at what the song was*

Kfc Frisk: Awww. What was the song?

”Don’t forget”

Kris: !!!

It’s funny. He said he and mom put it together for me. Cuz… I also had my own set of nightmares… And for good reason… Still, it was a great song. Tho nothing will ever compare to when Frisk sung it.

AuraFell InfoDump

Hello! As some of you may already know, I have created my own AU called AuraFell! It doesn't have any Tale/Swap/Swapfell/etc counterparts yet, so this is completely new!

I'm going to dump everything I have to start with this AU below the cut. If you want to wrote or draw this AU please ask, it's still in New AU stages so I want it to be done right! But I'm very easygoing and I would love for more content to me made so don't be afraid (:

More info below the cut, it's a mess of about 7k words so bear with me!

AuraFell:

Let's start with the magic system. Most monsters have the same type of magic as regular AUs, nothing special. If they have an aura, it's weak or hard to use.

Boss Monsters, though, have Auras that are strong and super effective.

Boss monsters in this AU (that ive developed) are:

-Papyrus (Mockingbird)

-Sans (Terror)

-Asgore (Dad)

-Toriel (Auntie)

-Undyne (Shrill)

-Alphys (Professor)

-Mettaton (Signal)

-Grillby (Ozone)

-Frisk (Kiddo)

And the deceased ones with powers thus far:

-Gaster (Doctor...deceased)

-Asriel (Giver...deceased...?)

-Chara (Pal....deceased)

Nicknames! So nicknames are actually given to Boss monsters by the ones their aura effects. They all for some reason call them that name.

Aura powers fall under two categories, with subcategories. If your aura is in the same category, you're resistant to the other's power. If you have the same category AND subcategory, you're immune.

Ambient Auras: These are Auras that are area of effect, sort of. They are focused in one way or another but generally present at all times.

-Visual: This means the Ambient Aura is focused with a visual effect (flashing colors, a friendly smile, the written word)

-Audial: This means the Ambient Aura is focused with sound (humming, singing, spoken word)

Given Aura: This aura type must be administered physically somehow. It is not ever-present but can be "stowed" or "kept". The effect is imbued to an object or physically given somehow.

-Present: This means the Given Effect must be given through an item (a baked good laced with the effect, a gift, etc)

-Physical: This means the given effect must be administered through physical contact (a bite, a kiss, skin to skin contact)

Let's start with the skeleton Brothers' powers

Papyrus, AKA Mockingbird

-His Aura is called Lullaby. He makes people fall asleep. He usually does this by humming or singing. It can effect one person immediately or multiple with a delay. 

-His favorite lullaby to hum is "Hush little baby" (you know. The one where Mama is gonna buy you a Mockingbird...) and perhaps that's why everyone calls him Mockingbird

-He used to think he had no powers because he didn't know how to focus it, and his Category/Subcategory is the same as Sans AND Undyne (whom he spent the most time with) so neither were ever affected

- Category/Sub is Ambient (Audial)

Sans (Terror)

-His aura is called Modify Memory, but nobody knows that. He can speak to a sleeping person and influence their dreams, or speak a story to an woken person and they will legitimately remember that it happened that way. Again, it's most effective when focused on one person, and the details fuzz or change if he tries to stretch it to more people

-He pretends to be affected by Mock's lullaby. He's incredibly fast, agile, and strong, and he pretends he's only a good fighter when he's unconscious. This way nobody will risk a surprise knockout and they'll cooperate with him when Mock threatens to put him to sleep. He modifies people's memories so they will spread by word of mouth that the unconscious fighting is his power, not modify memory

-Category/Sub: Ambient (Audial)

Speed run through the others:

-Toriel (Auntie) makes pies or any baked good that are more addictive than any drug. Category/sub: Given (Present)

-Asgore (Dad) has Big Dad Energy and everyone wants to impress him, to an extreme. He's so strong he affects most of the Underground without knowing it, and to his horror most of the Underground seems to think that murdering others and getting stronger is the way to impress him. He focuses with spoken word but it's mostly unnecessary at this point. Ambient (Audial)

-Grillby (Ozone). Hypnosis. Pretty flame colors. Leaves his victims open to suggestion. Ambient (Visual)

-Muffet (? Nickname tbd) makes a paralyzing poison. She has figured out how to put it in her pastries but it's best delivered by bite. Given (Physical)

-Undyne (Shrill) has the command power. People follow a command from her. Longer instructions if focused on one, one simple instruction if aimed at multiples. Ambient (Audial)

-Alphys (Professor). People take whatever she says as fact as long as it's written in her handwriting. Ambient (Visual)

-Mettaton (Signal). His TV programs are brainwashing propaganda. He can convince people to buy or sell anything if they are watching him through a screen. Ambient (Visual)

-Frisk (Kiddo) radiates friendship with a smile. Ambient (visual)

-Gaster (Doctor) used to be able to say anything and people would believe him. Ambient (Audial)

-Chara (Pal) was able to convince anyone to be friendly to them no matter what they'd done. Ambient (Audial)

-Asriel (Giver) could give you a rock and you'd well up with grateful feelings. Given (Present)

So 

yeah that's the basics, that's the big peeps in that world. Basically it isn't really Asgore's fault the place is so fucked up he's just very old and powerful and the violence is mostly people trying to impress him (poorly).

Gaster is Terror and Mock's Dad but he died when they were young, 8 and barely 2. He died trying to save Asriel and Chara when he accidentally dropped a barrier-breaking theory that Asriel then took as fact because of Gaster's aura.

Toriel moved almost immediately after the children's deaths, and Asgore did his best to raise Terror and Mock until Terror was old enough to take Mock to live in their house in Snowdin (about 14 and 8 years old)

Snowdin is a really bad place now though bc Toriel (Auntie) has been giving away her pies at the ruins gates, and people are killing and hurting each other for enough G or whatever they think she wants to get the next fix. She's kinda lost it at this point, she keeps feeding them out of some twisted need to be needed

Terror was old enough and smart enough to know "yeah, let's not eat that". They're immune to Asgore's power bc they are the same types, but they still want to impress him the normal kid-wants-to-impress-dad amount so they never tell him when they need more support out of some sense of pride. 

Mock was a bit of a runt well into teenage years. His magic was very slow to grow. He got picked on a lot, kids stole his lunch money and roughed him up and such. He would hum his favorite lullabies to himself to calm his anxiety, and wouldn't you know it, but one day it put everyone to sleep!

So sometimes he doesn't even realize he's humming, he does it to calm his nerves, he a nervous bean, but he also  knows from the one time someone injured his socket that earplugs are good enough to slow his effects

He also learns pretty quickly that junkies don't sleep for long and they are way stronger than he anticipated so, he racks up some of his LV for stuff like that.

He also likes tea because his powers depend on him being able to hum/sing

Some undertale headcannons cause I need a reason to smile rn

-Sans and Toriel love playing animal Crossing together. Their favorite activities consist of hitting each other with nets, laughing at the in game puns (and making up a few of their own), and catching snails!

-After a little while of being on the surface, Papyrus discovered Transformers and was IMMEDIATELY hooked. He now has seen every movie and show, and he collects the action figures.

-Papyrus owns a lot of fidget toys but he never lets anyone see him use them because he thinks it will make him seem less cool.

-Asgore discovered Cavetown and now that's all he listens to.

-Alphys definitely owns a 4chan account let's be real.

-Napstablook will dance to the music they makes when no ones around to see.

-Napstablook makes playlists for people they like.

-Mettaton definitely hosts and performs at pride celebrations every year.

-Flowey softly sings lullabies Toriel used to sing to him when he's alone.

-Toriel's favorite plants are water lillys and cattails.

-Undyne challenges people to arm wrestling contests when she first meets them to test their strength.

-Asgore loves going to the underground's schools and reading stories to the kids (he's a total pro at it!)

-Undyne is afraid of the dark (I think that's her only weakness)

-Sans will rickroll you. All the time. It's a real problem.

-Alphys played Doki Doki Literature Club without knowing what it was actually about. Undyne spent hours trying to get her to stop crying.

-Burgerpants is actually really talented but he just never gets the chance to show off

-Monster kid is obsessed with the WWE and they swear, arms or no arms, that they're gonna join one day.

-Mettaton stans Lady Gaga

weird question that you don't have to answer if you don't want to: how good of singers do you think each of the (main) undertale characters would be?

This is one of those things I don’t really have a solid headcanon for, just a set of possibilities that ebb and flow based on the situation. So, keep that in mind.

Sans i have a hard time imagining ever singing in front of anyone. Whether this is because he literally can’t sing, or whether this is because he’s an amazing singer is up for debate. I lean towards “can’t” but I also like the possibility of him being completely average. If he’s amazing though he will only ever use this to sing whatever the worst song he knows of is. He’s way more interested in the tromBONE

Papyrus is LOUD and Papyrus’s sense of timing is PERFECT. But I don’t imagine him doing well with songs that cannot be SHOUTED!!! And he wouldn’t have much interest in that either. Great sense of time and great volume though might make him good at rap! 

Two major possibilities exist for Undyne in my mind: Either she’s a terrible but determined singer, OR she has a magically, enchantingly gorgeous singing voice that charms those around her. (You know, like an undine.) I don’t see her ever wanting to use the latter, though, because it’s not her style, so she finds a way to be a BAD singer through sheer determination and willpower. And that's exactly how she likes it. I imagine Undyne’s song choices are generally either off-the-cuff dramatic background music (”dun DUN dunannana!!!\”) or random songs she likes but can’t remember any of the words to.

Alphys has no sense of time and her pitch goes all over the place the second she gets distracted or overwhelmed, BUT if she knows the song well or she’s laser-focused on the task, she does well. As a treat for myself I imagine her being a lot like me, not really having a good singing voice of her own but being decent at mimicking the way other singers sing songs she knows, so she can do a good impression if she knows the song well. And if its the theme song to one of her favorite shows, she absolutely does.

Toriel is a wonderful singer, though usually all anyone hears from her are lullabies. Some rare few have heard her absolutely crush a drinking song.

Asgore doesn’t sing much but has a rich baritone. He sings to himself in the garden, and knows a lot of older traditional songs, but it rarely translates to him singing for anyone.

Mettaton is INSANELY good at singing. He’s incredible. Otherworldly range. Can and will sing anything just to show he can.

Alrighty how about 14 with Mettaton and 9 with Toriel?

This is a long ass post, so buckle up buttercups >:)

So, if you really think about it, Mettaton IS a robot now. He fused with his body, considering he can die in Stabby Stabby/Nuetral routes. Robots can’t absorb alcohol, therefore they can’t get drunk.

Now, the argument could be made that he just absorbs the magic that makes up the drink then sends it to his power core, like an organic body. The that funky drunky flow intoxicates him.... But that also contradicts my personal head cannons on how Metta’s body works.

I’ll make this brief (if that’s possible in a post of this length lMAO), but how I think that MTT gets his power is either through electricity or, in a worst case scenario, gasoline mixed with magic. While I believe he can eat and drink monster food, it’s stored in an internal compartment before being broken down into manageable magic chunks over a series of several days. So, alcoholic beverages would give him at most a buzz over the course of like a couple of days.

That being said, there’s hope!!!

Remember when I said that I headcannon Metta runs on gasoline if he can’t get any electricity? Well, the means he can switch between which tank he’s drawing from. And, there is a type of gasoline made with a base of Ethanol! Which is the compound used to make drinks alcoholic! Therefore, the alcohol would be going to his core at the rate needed to actually get drunk.

Which means, if he wants to be drunk he can just switch into gasoline mode and slip into whatever tipsy needs he has! As long as he’s filled up on ethanol!

Now I’m not saying that this was found out by complete accident with Alphys testing out a new fuel type but.....

That’s exactly what I’m saying.

But!!! Yall didn’t come here to hear about Mettaton’s autonomy, so let’s talk about his drunken habits!!

I like to think he doesn’t drink often, mostly because of the aforementioned not actually realizing he could till he was on the surface. But, some of the best examples of how he is in a drunken state would probably be back when he was a ghost.

It was probably some rough times back then. Shyren’s sister had just fallen down, and it’s inplied the cousins are rather close with the family. Add in a healthy dose of dysphoria and yearning for a greater audience- no, purpose... It must’ve been rough for Metta.

Mabey to cope, the cousins invested in some ghost ale?

I like to think when buzzed, Mettaton is just a (somehow) more confident and showy version of himself. Just with less motor control and a higher chance of making impulsive decisions.

Once we pass into drunk territory... things start getting more emotional. There will be tears. Probably a lot of them. He’s very emotional and can and will state his mind. Heartfelt confessions might happen, rivalries may happen, or he may just tell you what you already know.

If the cousins cracked open a cold one.... Well.... That may of been the first indications (aside from behavior they’d picked up but not said anything about) of what was really on Metta’s mind. About how desperate he was.

Metta didn’t remember it in the morning. Blookie never told him what they talked about. It was never spoken of again.

Ok!! On a slightly higher note: Toriel!

I’ve always seen Toriel as having a very smooth sounding, mezzo soprano voice. It’s nothing remarkable. She doesn’t belt often, she doesn’t have much of a verbrato, she just sounds like your normal 50ish woman who sings abit too much in the car. But, her voice is warm and soft and perfect to fall asleep too, especially when a smile gets in the way of her vowels.

She sings fairly often, probably the most in the main cast (aside Mettaton and MABEY Papyrus). Be it in the car, or when she has too much to drink, or when singing a lullaby to her kids.

I’ll start with lullabies since I believe they’d be the most personal to her.

We don’t know exactly when the monster human war happened, but I’m of the belief that it happened sometime in the Middle Ages, which would place Toriel’s childhood in medieval times. While she wasn’t born there, I also think both Toriel and Asgore’s families hail from Ireland. Her mother would sing to her every night, sometimes mixing in ancient tales of wild beasts and faeries.

It’s a sentiment she’s passed down to her own children.

Albeit, she changed a few lyrics or scenes in the stories to make them less terrifying, besides when she was caring for some of the older souls. There may also be a touch more happy endings than there were in the older days, and mabey a couple more injuries instead of deaths. But for the most part, they stay the same.

The pieces she dare not change though, are the ones she sings in Gaelic.

Frisk hasn’t learned the language (yet), so Toriel finds no need to change any details to such relics. Plus, they have a lot more of an emotional connection than most of her other songs or stories. Her eldest two children were incredibly fond of them

(Also the song I used for these doodles is called Bó na leath-adhairce (One Horned Cow). The woman who sings it (Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh) sounds a lot like how I imagine Toriel sounding. But like. With a lot more vocal training. She still sounds like she’s singing through a smile and I love it)

On a much more fun note, let’s talk about Toriel’s drinking songs!

So, this doesn’t happen often, but if the moods right and Toriel’s had JUST enough to drink.... She might attempt to start up a drinking song with whatever crowd she’s got around her. She doesn’t know many songs, and she only half remembers the rest, but goddamn it if she’s not gonna try it.

It’s awful. Any recognizable lyrics are either slurred, butchered, or in a language no one else can understand.

But she looks like she’s having so much fun, no one ever tries to stop her.

Hell, some people might even join in, if there’s been enough to drink in the house. If that happens, and if she’s feeling confident enough, Tori might even get up and dance a little bit, dragging whomever she pleases in as well. If she’s drunk enough to start singing like this in public, then she’s definitely drunk enough to do some dances.

Mostly though, she just sticks to lullabies.

As for the second part of this prompt, it’s a lot simpler than all of the rest of this post. Toriel enjoys most music, especially the choral verity. She’ll let anything on the radio, so long as it’s appropriate when Frisk’s in the car.

Her favorite genres though, are Classical, Folk, and Celtic. They were the styles she grew up with and remains fond of to this day. They bring back a feeling of Nostalgia without too many memories, just how she likes it. She also quite enjoys Operas, and plans on taking Frisk to see one once she gets the hang of the internet.

She used to adore ballroom music and waltzes but....

Now they just bring back Memories she’d rather not have.

I just got this idea and i have to ask. If one day by accident. The skelekids loaded a video on the undernet, of Fellby singing to them lullabies, they found by Swabby. And they didn't tell, how would everyone react when the video is then shown on MTT news as the biggest hit?

Oh god. XDDDD Oh god this would make Fellby want to hide under a stone forever. He would be blushing purple for so damn long. He wouldn’t deal with this. Probably would he either run to Hotland to hole up in his little cave and cuddle Soup or would (if that would happen a bit later in the story) go to Grillby and be like “Grills I can’t deal make this go away!”, probably while flopping on top of him and like trying to hide in his cousin’s shoulders. The world would be terrible and bad for him.

Grillby would not understand why this is such a big deal for Fellby but seeing him so upset would make him want to help (there is very little Grillby wouldn’t do for Fellby after all). He would pat Fellby, sit him down, and probably go to MTT station and glare everybody into submission to take the video off the Undernet. Also to agree to never talk about this ever again. It would blow over after a while after all and in the meantime he would be there for his cousin.

Swabby would be kinda horrified that his videos were leaked somewhere. Like yeah he does collect blackmail and he recorded Fellby singing (and showing it to Grillby when he got a really bad day to make him feel better) but he never intended for everybody else to see! He would fear that Fellby would see this as a breach of the trust they have going between them (their friendship is very important to Swabby after all) He would first apologize to Fellby and make it clear that this was not on him. then he would try and find out how this happened.

The kids would feel kinda guilty seeing all this. Like they didn’t mean for Fellby to be this distressed. They would confess to Swabby, hear a VERY stern talking-to (like Swabby takes this SERIOUSLY.) then Swabby would make them apologize to Fellby and tell him the whole truth. They would come clean about everything and it would end in some cuddles because honestly, Fellby could NEVER stay mad at these kids, he loves them way to much.

Mettaton would FLIP HIS EVERYTHING because there was somebody SINGING AS GOOD AS HE DID (he would never admit it being better even if it was) He so would try to get Fellby to sing a duet with him. Fellby is NOT interested. But his audience seems to demand Fellby so he tries EVERYTHING to get the flame to sing with him.

Grillby will shut the door in his face should he even come down to Snowdin.

So Mettaton kinda will be happy when Grillby glares everybody to delete the videos and all that. That way he can pretend nothing had happened, he is still the star and sooner or later the others will forget about the singing blue flame.

(Muffet will save one recording for herself or pay Swabby to get her one copy. She will listen to it on bad days for her, when she would just cuddle Crumbs and listen to music and try to imagine better times.)
