e6 predictions (they get more unhinged the further you go)
lake scene is NOT the final scene or a breakup scene
the wilmon car scene is the last scene
elias song!!
wille won’t abdicate (just because you can’t abdicate before you’re even on the throne)
BUT he does tell his mother that he’s leaning towards not wanting to be king
felice and sara will start to be friends again (during the neon party?)
hillerska closes down
fredrika and stella are temporarily pissed at felice for the closure
wilmon will get a “let’s stay together, we love each other and we can try to make it work” endgame
saraugust won’t be endgame
we get to actually see one of august and wille’s mediation therapy sessions and what they talk about
vincent and august are on not-so-great terms at the end of the show
the first year’s letters to their future selves come back into play
as per usual ludvig does nothing significant or useful to help wille or the plot
wille looks into a mirror and gives himself a tiny smile
music room redemption scene
simon writes/sings a song for wille for his real birthday present
wille learns the truth about where his orange sweater really went
by some miracle there is enough time in the episode for simon to go see boris himself
someone actually remembers that rousseau exists (even better, we actually SEE rousseau)
someone accidentally starts a fire during the neon party
august and vincent try to throw punches at each other during the table scene
marcus shows up at graduation for whatever reason and malin kicks him out
simon jumps vincent while everyone else politely applauds
felice gets to yell at the headmistress for her casual microaggressions
linda delivers a bitch slap to august’s stepdad
someone says “i’m proud of you” to wille

I always cry and get so angry at the phone call between Wilhelm and his father in 3x05. The way Wille wants to talk to his father about Erik and Ludvig simply not caring enough to talk with his only son. The look on Wilhelm's face when he notices that he is hanging up because of something more important than talking to his son. Wille wasn't even hiding that he is sad as a good parent you know your children and know when they are sad. Ludvig simply did know nothing about his son. Everytime my heart breaks for Wille in that scene 😔

may 28: birthday
@youngroyals-events
On May 28, 2022, Wille turns eighteen. It's the best birthday he's ever had.
Simon wakes him up much like last year, singing a song and feeding him a cupcake. Wille laughs and kisses him softly, firmly, then messily, until the frosting on his lips is melted away between their kisses and body heat.
Later, much later, he has a long phone call with his parents, thanking them for letting him have time to himself and not making him attend any more royal events. They smile, only a little sadly, and exchange I love you's and I miss you's and call us soon's.
It's a Saturday, so he has the entire day to spend with his friends. He smiles and laughs and happy-cries the whole time.
Simon groans when Rosh pokes Wille and asks for cigarettes, even though she's been eighteen for months and could easily get her own if she even wanted to. It's different when it comes from a prince she replies, and Wille laughs and blushes and shakes his head.
Not a prince anymore, he adds in his head. It's an open secret within his friend group, but it hasn't been public yet. Not until later today. Today, when the family will finally formally announces that Prince Wilhelm will be taking a step back as Crown Prince. August Horn of Årnäs will take over such duties until further notice.
When it's posted, Sara smiles and nudges him, Felice squeezes him into a hug, and Simon kisses him tenderly in front of everybody. Rosh and Ayub nag and jeer, but when they get a moment alone with him, they smile and say good job.
Later that night, in a makeshift pillow fort, he falls asleep in a pile of blankets surrounded by his favorite family.

Kristina: Did you have to stab him?
Wille: You weren’t there. You didn’t hear what he said to me.
Kristina: What did he say?
Wille: "What are you going to do, stab me?"
Ludvig: That’s fair.

So I was watching the coat room scene and then the jubilee speech yet again. As one does. And I just noticed that Ludvig is wearing a shirt with no tie, and what’s more, the shirt collar is open!
Why????? All the other men and boys are wearing ties. And as the prince consort, surely Ludvig is expected to match the formality of the occasion, and not be the only man who’s underdressed.
He’s not even wearing a cravat in the open shirt collar. I know that’s an old-fashioned thing to wear in lieu of a tie (my grandad used to wear one, on days he just didn’t feel like a tie. He died in 1994).
But it just seems odd that the third highest ranking person at this entire event has no tie, and even has his shirt collar unbuttoned. There are TV cameras filming Ludvig! TV cameras he knew in advance would be there. I know his wife and son are the people the TV cameras are most interested in, but surely they would take note of him pairing an expensive tailored suit with a shirt that has no tie.
It’s not like Ludvig knew beforehand that Wilhelm would blow up the speech, and nobody would care that the queen’s husband isn’t wearing the right clothes for the occasion. Where’s his tie?

honestly Ludvig being a muppet would explain his lack of. everything. jfjsjdjjas. i accept muppet Ludvig as a potential truth.
I actually think. This might be offensive to muppets. Kermit the Frog has more personality in a single floppy arm than Ludvig does in his entire body...

All I want in season three is for Ludvig to say something averagely intelligent. Not even fully intelligent. Just like something average. Literally that’s it. I will be happy with that.

Ludvig and Simon are left alone in a room after the Queen asks to talk to Wille in private and Ludvig kinda sits there awkwardly for a minute and then says "so uh, you like music huh?" And Simon says "uhm, yeah." And then Ludvig casually says "oh me too, Kristina and I met at ABBA once, she's a huge fan" and Simon says "really!?" And Ludvig just winks as he gets up and says "use this information wisely"

I’m not sure I necessarily agree with all of the above, but this is a really neat and thought-provoking take.
I’m neither on Team Abdication or Team Monarchy. I’m on Team whoever made the most compelling pitch most recently.
Young Royals Season 3 Endgame: Team Abdication or Monarchy?
Team Monarchy.
I know this might seem surprising given how often I show my contempt for the upper classes here on Tumblr, and how fucked up I think they are. I also fully understand and agree that having an inherited government office is fundamentally incompatible with a modern, liberal, progressive, democracy. I know all the arguments.
But...
Sweden has been a kingdom for over a thousand years. On June 6th this year, Sweden celebrates five hundred years of unbroken sovereignty when we finally left the Kalmar Union and elected Gustav Vasa as king in 1523. The current royal family, even though they're patrilinear descendants of an imported French rando, can trace back their heritage to Gustav Vasa, and all the way back to the first kings.
They are a piece of living history, connecting Sweden today to Sweden through the ages, and there's value in that. If you want the head of state of your country to have some kind of symbolic value, there's no better choice. If Sweden were to change to a republic, no-one would care about the office of the President, it would go to some boring politician who got the job as thanks for a long and faithful service. Or, worst case, it would go to some populist nutjob.
So since we have them, since they're already there, let's keep them. They're better than the alternatives, and they are a unique quirky thing that sets Sweden apart from most other nations. They're entertaining, and they can be a force for good, or at least some kind of national unity.
But if they want to stay being royals, they need to move with the times, and given the YR universe, an openly queer monarch would be an absolutely fantastic way of showing that even they are capable of change. The question of succession can be figured out, it's all make-believe blood magic anyway. Way crazier shit has happened throughout history.
So long live King Wilhelm, and his husband, Prince Simon.

funnily enough, season 3 changed how i view and write the royal family. and i mean every single member lmao
erik was not as perfect or as kind as a lot of us hoped for as and wille believed. he could be cruel and was likely just as unhappy as wille was as crown prince. he was just more willing and skilled at hiding it. this kind of creates an interesting view into how their sibling dynamic was so different from their actual selves. or at least it was for erik. in my mind, erik grew up knowing he was going to take over the throne and therefore felt like he kind of had to split himself off into different personas-showing a different part of who he really was to certain people so that everyone could stay in his corner (like a good king would i guess). so much so that no one, not even his parents or wille or august, can ever get a true grasp on who erik was.
wille didn’t grow up like that. he grew up very similarly, but he didn’t have the expectation of ruling an entire country. he was more of a “what if” and “just to be safe” option. he was an afterthought, and rather than split his personality into different pieces of himself, he instead became more of a recluse who yearns for love but never receives it in the way he needs. so he is only ever fully himself when he’s around people who can reciprocate his yearning for kindness and care. the people who he feels safe with. erik was that for him even though erik, unbeknownst to him, wasn’t who he really thought. and simon eventually became that safety net as well. but by that time he had become crown prince. and to be the crown prince, he was gonna have to adapt like erik had. and wille was never good at pretending for the sake of others, so the crown prince persona ended up intruding onto the real wille until simon could no longer recognize him.
kristina is neglectful and ludvig is a silent passenger in it all. these are things i already knew but i feel like season 3 gave me so much more to work with in terms of their family dynamic. wille loves them both and was going crazy with guilt at the thought of kristina’s mental health deteriorating because of him. wille blames himself a lot, which makes me believe that the two of them had no problem doing that before. blaming wille for scandals or tiny mistakes he made. so much so that wille ended up convincing himself that everything that goes wrong is somehow his fault. just bad bad parents. do i think they love wille? yea im sure they do, but the crown clearly comes first for them and wille honestly deserves so much better. he deserves to be loved in a way that is reciprocal and not based on condition. kristina loved erik so much because erik wasn’t just her firstborn but was also the perfect crown prince. he listened and followed order and played puppet. wille was obviously much more difficult, and since she couldn’t show her love for him by praising his behavior, she just didn’t show him it

Wille: Can we go out to get ice cream?
Ludvig: Did you ask your mamma?
Wille: She said no.
Ludvig: Then why did you ask me?
Wille: She's not the boss of you.
Ludvig, internally: It's a trap, it's a trap, it's a trap.

I am still not over the fact that Ludvig never apologized to Wille!
And that Wille just accepted the Queen's apology for both of them. You know you're fucked when your own son doesn't even expect you to speak for yourself.

Unhinged idea: Ludvig is just a puppet, a facade, Jan-Olof and Kristina are in fact lovers. J-O was her unfortunate romance (he is not of noble birth), and instead of feeling sympathy for Wilhelm and Simon, he is jealous. And trying to block their relationship. Kristina doesn't realise this and thinks she has the best of both worlds.
I have to be honest when I first opened this I thought you meant puppet literally and I was honestly so ready to accept Ludvig as a secret muppet 😂
What are your fake unhinged yr3 predictions?

I may just be over analyzing this, but I can’t stop thinking about the scene in s1 ep3 of young royals when Wilhelm and Simon are walking out of the building and all the students around them start whispering. Wilhelm is (understandably) confused, and that confusion only intensifies when the headmistress pulls him aside with Wilhelm’s mom on the phone. Basically, Kristina tells Wilhelm that Erik, his older brother, is dead, and Wilhelm is completely surprised. The reason I think this is such a big moment is the fact that the student body of Hillerska knew about the death of Wilhelm’s brother before Wilhelm did. The Royal Court took the time to make a social media post or announcement or something before they thought to let Wilhelm know that one of the people Wilhelm loves most in the world is dead. I know we all knew that Kristina prioritizes the monarchy over the family, but I think this scene just highlights that.
Edit: As a few people have pointed out, the students of Hillerska probably knew from a leaked source rather than an official announcement. However, it still says something that the country knows about Wille’s private life before Wille does.
