A few months ago someone who was pretty new to YR fandom posted this super fascinating take on the jubilee speech cinematography. Basically, that as Kristina’s watching Wilhelm give the speech, he’s facing her at the podium, and she can see Simon in the choir behind him. Only this user made it much more interesting than my simple description. Brilliant post!
Anyway, I thought I had tagged that post months ago when I reblogged it, but it seems I didn’t. It’s not showing up when I search my tags, anyway. Does anybody at all remember that post?
Or even just the username of the OP? If I remember their username, I can search for the post in their blog. I really want to re-read their analysis, and it’s driving me nuts that I can’t.
Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope!
Edited to add:
@themarsbar is a genius, and found the post for me in no time. It was actually about Simon's physical perspective on the scene, not on Kristina's. But I was right, it was about the way everybody is lined up in the jubilee Speech scene. The OP is @foreverunraveling

I agree with anon that the speech wasn’t broadcasted live, but press and students can spread it quickly.

When Simon Eriksson decides to fuck with the monarchy, he brings his A game. You can’t criticize his commitment to the cause.
simon thoroughly fucking this boy up like 5 minutes before he has to give his speech. thanks pal!

So I was watching the coat room scene and then the jubilee speech yet again. As one does. And I just noticed that Ludvig is wearing a shirt with no tie, and what’s more, the shirt collar is open!
Why????? All the other men and boys are wearing ties. And as the prince consort, surely Ludvig is expected to match the formality of the occasion, and not be the only man who’s underdressed.
He’s not even wearing a cravat in the open shirt collar. I know that’s an old-fashioned thing to wear in lieu of a tie (my grandad used to wear one, on days he just didn’t feel like a tie. He died in 1994).
But it just seems odd that the third highest ranking person at this entire event has no tie, and even has his shirt collar unbuttoned. There are TV cameras filming Ludvig! TV cameras he knew in advance would be there. I know his wife and son are the people the TV cameras are most interested in, but surely they would take note of him pairing an expensive tailored suit with a shirt that has no tie.
It’s not like Ludvig knew beforehand that Wilhelm would blow up the speech, and nobody would care that the queen’s husband isn’t wearing the right clothes for the occasion. Where’s his tie?

this is more of a source of confusion than a confession but... am i the only one who didn't think wille's speech at the jubilee was meant to be broadcast live? the impression i got was that the cameras were for året med kungafamiljen which only airs in december. even when characters talked about the event, they never said anything about being live on tv soon, which i think would be unrealistic if that was the case. so my perception was that the speech only ended up online when students started recording on their phones, but the fandom consensus seems to be that it was also live on tv from the start. so maybe this could be an idea for a poll or at least sth for people to voice their opinions on...?

I would understand it if Simon is angry at Wille for the speech at the end of S2. Wille really should've talked to him about it because it affects them both. Just because Simon doesn't appear to be mad at the end of S2, doesn't make it okay. Especially because Wille talks explicitly about the video, it will put the attention back on that.
Of course Simon said multiple times he didn't want to be Wille's secret, but Wille's speech is an extreme. And, just before the speech he said he would be okay with being a secret. So. Idk. I also feel like it's another moment where Simon's control is taken away from him. I really would've loved for the two of them making the decision to be public about their relationship / to talk about the video together.

Boris is the only adult in Wilhelm’s entire life so far who is entirely on Wilhelm’s side. He doesn’t report back to the Queen, nor does he consider her wishes more important than his duty to his patient. Boris is the only adult who treats Wilhelm like a troubled teenager first, and the crown prince of Sweden a very distant second.
Boris doesn’t give a shit about the succession crisis. All he cares about is treating his patient to the best of his ability. And the fact that his patient is the future king of Sweden doesn’t factor into Boris’s treatment plan. Yeah, Wilhelm’s situation is relevant to their sessions. But only insofar as it’s a significant source of anxiety to this patient, and a significant source of this patient feeling trapped.
Boris is the only adult in Wilhelm’s entire life who just wants him to be a happy human being, without reference to his position. And who gives precisely zero fucks about how the Queen will react to her heir’s therapist encouraging him to self-actualize.
Kristina sent Iwlhelm to therapy so he could learn to control his emotions, avoid outbursts. Instead, the therapist she picked encouraged Wilhelm to pay attention to his own emotions. To put his own happiness above his duty to the monarchy.
THIS MAN DIDN'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE REPERCUSSIONS, HE WAS ALL THERE FOR THE DRAMA I LOOK UP TO HIM BECAUSE SAME
A HERO

On the passing of Queen Elizabeth II
"Lillibet" a familiar voice
Whispers in my ear
Philip holds out his hand
"it's time to go my dear"
"Already Philip?" but he just smiles,
"I knew you would protest,
But you've served your country well my love, now it's time to rest".
My family are gathered around,
I know their tears are for me,
But my body has grown tired,
And now I'm finally free.
"I broke the record, 70 years,
I suppose you are quite right"
I took his hand, and walked towards the tunnel of white light.
Then I stopped for a second,
And looked upon my son,
I knew I had four more words before my time was done.
I walked up behind him, as the bells began to ring,
I gave his shoulder a squeeze,
and whispered, "God save the King".
RIP Lillibet…

Read the above!!!! OP tells the absolute truth. At the jubilee, Wilhelm is turning the inevitable media and public scrutiny of his every move to his own advantage, and reclaiming the narrative. Also reclaiming his agency to speak the truth in public about his own experiences.
Or perhaps reclaim is the wrong word. Claim might be a better one, since he never had said agency before. You can’t reclaim something you’ve never had. In 1.01 and in 1.06 he was made to read lies written by other people off a teleprompter and pretend they were his decisions and beliefs. He won’t do that anymore. He won’t be complicit in his own silencing any longer, and he’ll use cameras and public scrutiny to his own ends. Since they’re there anyway.
okay okay hear me out
the significance of wilhelm getting to reclaim being filmed by third parties
when the sex tape happened he was being filmed against his will and it basically destroyed his and simon's lives. he developed a whole fear of public speech around that too. no one would've blamed him if he let august do the speech instead.
but nope, he chose to stand there, make the speech, tell the truth, in front of official cameras and all of hillerska, under his own terms. and now when he makes that speech, even when jan-olof tells the official cameras to cut it off, the students are still filming and recording his speech. both times he's being filmed to be posted in social media, except one time it was against his will and now he gets to take advantage of it and tell the truth. this is reclamation.

Subtext and Culture, Young Royals, Season 3, Episode 1
Season 3 picks up a short while after the jubilee speech by Wilhelm. Both Wilhelm and Sara have been absent from school for a noticeable amount of time, so maybe a week or two later? The show isn't very diligent in ensuring a perfect timeline, but this would put us in early March perhaps? Anyway, we're off to the castle for a meeting to deal with the fallout of Wilhelm's speech and Sara reporting the video to the police.
Subtext: The Queen is so pissed she's not even looking at her son, a reversal from the opening to season 2, when Wilhelm was pretty pissed at his mom.
Subtext: This is probably the first time that Wilhelm gets a hint that the Queen is seriously ill.
Cinematography: Same procedure as last season! Every season opens with a fourth wall break where Wilhelm stares in to the camera during the opening titles, defiant as ever.
Culture: For practical reasons the end of season 2 was filmed in April 2022, while the beginning of season 3 was filmed in February 2023. That said, the spring in Sweden can be pretty fickle, and it's not uncommon to have surprise snowfall as late as April. If you want a cinematographic interpretation of this scene, it's supposed to show how cold and unwelcome Simon feels arriving at the royal palace.
Cinematography: In reality, the monarch would be the last one entering a meeting after everyone else has arrived, but having Simon arrive like this makes it look more like he's entering a court of justice or some kind of disciplinary meeting. It's of course not a coincidence that the royal family represented by Jan-Olof is all on one side of the table, while everyone who has been causing them problems is on the other side.
Subtext: Jan-Olof is trying to minimize the video, by using "so-called", and by calling it an intimate video and not a porn video. However, for something to fall under the definition of "revenge porn", it's enough to depict people in an intimate situation, it doesn't have to meet the much higher threshold for when it's considered actual pornography, so he's at least admitting that it was an illegal video.
Culture: Nordiska Motståndsrörelsen is unfortunately a real organization of actual neo-nazi white supremacists in Sweden, with offshoots in neighbouring countries.
Lost in translation: The subtitles are struggling here, it's "piss person" in one, and "shitty person" in the other. The former is literally what they're saying in Swedish, but the latter is probably the better expression in English.
Also, we've been told that August's stepdad, Rickard, is one of Sweden's best lawyers. What that means is that he is probably a well-known criminal defence lawyer, and has probably been handling the defence in high-profile cases, and if you're defending obviously guilty criminals, you tend to get a lot of shit from the media and people in general, even though what you're doing is necessary for a fair justice system. This sounds like his way of dealing with that.
Culture: It's a pet peeve of mine that no-one seems to know that the name of the Swedish currency in English is kronor, not crowns. Simon is getting 1.2 million kronor, which amounts to about 105,000€ or $115,000.
Subtext: Linda isn't wrong, they're being strong-armed here. They have some sort of legal counsel, and they wouldn't have to pay any trial costs even if they don't win, but they can't afford to match the resources that August's stepdad can bring, and might get nothing in the end.
Culture: We don't know what Årnäs looks like or how large the estate is, but a quick check shows that you can buy a typical manor house and some farmland in Sweden for tens of millions of kronor. However, the amount of land that some of the other guys were boasting about at the Society party in season 1 would be worth several hundreds of millions of kronor, so it's unlikely that Årnäs is as large as that, because August would have a lot more options if his total net worth was in that ballpark.
Culture: Realistically, Simon isn't wrong. Even if August was convicted on all points, he wouldn't be sentenced harshly because of his age, because he's a first-time offender, and because it's a non-violent crime. He would most likely just be fined a large amount of money and ordered to pay damages, so settling isn't that bad.
Cinematography: The low winter sun creates some lovely golden light, so we know we're in for some sweet love between the boys. Another detail is the difference in how they're dressed and how they're carrying themselves. Wilhelm is tall and proud, he's at home, he's in a suit, he's sure of himself, while Simon is the guest, the intruder, and is almost shrinking away in his oversized purple shirt and jeans. Yes, yes, colour theory, I know.
Subtext: A nice little flashback to season 1 when Wilhelm said the same thing when he visited Simon's place.
Lost in translation: Simon is actually saying "Var det såhär i din dröm?" - "Was it like this in your dream?", which is a reference to the rather steamy dream Wilhelm had at the start of season 2, when he was lying in this exact bed.
Subtext: Absolutely no-one is fooled, everyone knows our two idiot boys were sucking each other's face a minute ago.
Subtext: Both Linda and the Queen are hearing about their sons' awful behaviour for the first time at this meeting. Linda had no idea Simon had been dealing drugs, and Kristina had no idea Wilhelm threatened August with a gun.
Culture: I have no idea here. There's no real-world example for this in Sweden, you can't put someone into the line of succession by giving them a title. The show is just hand-waving this. Alright. Ok. Fine.
Culture: All adults in the line of succession can be called upon to be acting Head of State, if the monarch is indisposed or on vacation or something. This means that once Wilhelm is 18, he would occasionally have to step in and do the job, even though he's not king yet. If there are no royals available for this, the duty falls to the speaker of the house, Riksdagens Talman.
Cinematography: We're returning to Hillerska after the episode intro at the royal palace, so we're treated to a little montage of what those gosh darn rich kids have been up to in the meanwhile, so here's a horse to remind us that some of them are still riding! This is the only horse we'll be seeing this season, because the show really isn't about Rousseau after all.
Subtext: Madison is doing Tarot, and she's got Three of Wands reversed and Four of Wands reversed. The first one represents obstacles and lack of progress, and the second one represents home conflict, instability, and lack of support. A bit on the nose, don't you think?
Subtext: It's true, but the show is also calling out itself for the somewhat inconsistent weather we've been seeing due to actual shooting schedules.
Culture: Graduating gymnasiet in Sweden has a bunch of elements that are the same pretty much across the country, and then there are regional differences and individual school differences. I recognize only a few of the things Fredrika rattles off, but it makes sense that a place like Hillerska has a ton of traditions.
Subtext: All the girls have noticed that Felice isn't doing too great, but Madison appears to be the only one that actually cares. Fredrika still hasn't stopped talking about all the crap the third-years are gonna do, because that's apparently more exciting. However, the trucks she's talking about are pretty common, this is what we in Sweden call a Studentflak.
@hanna-kin wrote a long post on Swedish graduation traditions, and I reblogged and added some stuff here: https://www.tumblr.com/skamenglishsubs/684659770007961600/its-that-time-of-the-year-again-and-if-season-2
Culture: It seems Minou isn't the head of PR for the royal court anymore, this is Farima, and we've actually seen her all the way back in season 1 when she was instructing Wilhelm to smile more in the photographs. Either way, it seems like she's got a promotion, and she's probably not wrong in her assessment. A bunch of old farts would balk at the idea of the monarch being in a same-sex relationship, but a lot of others would see it is proof that the monarchy can change with the times. There were quite a lot of fans in Team Monarchy after all. 👑🌈
Lost in translation: Linda actually says "Du har utegångsförbud", which means curfew. Grounding kids isn't really a thing in Sweden, to us it's some kind of weird thing that only happens in American teen shows, along with detention. What the fuck even is that?
Subtext: Unlike in season 1, Simon now consistently speaks Swedish at home to his mom, further showing us how distant he is from her, and from himself to some extent.
Lost in translation: Linda actually calls Sara a "hemmasittare", which is a Swedish term used for kids who simply refuse to attend school, typically for mental health reasons. What to do about the problem is a hotly debated political issue, and let's leave it at that.
Subtext: This is how the culture of secrecy and solidarity against outsiders work at schools like this. Everyone is abused, everyone participates in abusing younger students, and everyone is told to shut up about it. Every house guards their "secret" initiations to outsiders, to foster loyalty to each other, to your house, and to the school. It's cult behaviour 101.
Cinematography: The show does it's usual trick with the sound design where all outside noise disappears as Simon and Wilhelm retreat into their little bubble, but there are still people in the frame this time, even though we can't hear them, because this time they're snogging in public. Oh, and everyone needs to update their colour theory, new colours dropped, pink and orange, what does it all mean??!?
Blink and you miss it: The list of activities for the point hunt includes:
Tattoo "Hillerska 4-life" on your arm.
Take a selfie at the back of a police car.
Give someone a buzz cut.
Dance the balloon dance in public.
Sext a teacher.
Get a piercing somewhere.
Blink and you miss it: I love Vincent so much, he's just the worst. Oh, and it looks like he's wearing a $2000 Valentino sweater, but I'm not 100% certain.
Subtext: Neither Ayub nor Rosh agrees with Simon when he says he's gonna reply to idiots online, but unfortunately they're not telling him off, because that would lead to less drama in the season.
Blink and you miss it: Ayub and Rosh are talking about going on a hike to Talludden with their school, Marieberg, which is why we're gonna encounter them out in the woods in the next episode. Spoiler alert!
Subtext: Wilhelm puts up the first stanza of a poem by Karin Boye called The Shield Maiden. In English, the poem goes: I dreamed about swords last night. I dreamed about battle last night. I dreamed I fought by your side armoured and strong, last night.
Blink and you miss it: Wilhelm's desk has a ton of stuff, but he's also kept the broken frog prince snowglobe, and he's still got Erik's lighter and cigarette case from season 2.
Lost in translation: The comment in Swedish uses the word "bögar", which isn't quite as offensive as "fags". However, it's more offensive than "gays", so I understand why the subtitles went with this choice. It's one of those words that is offensive or not depending on context, and it's certainly offensive in this one.
Subtext: The soundtrack is on point as usual, highlighting the animosity between Wilhelm and August.
Blink and you miss it: Someone ordered a Horse Girl Desk™ from the props department, and they sure delivered all the horsey things! The book is the Swedish edition of Not on a White Horse by Nancy Springer:
From the day twelve-year-old Rhiannon spots a lost white Arabian gelding in the woods near her small Pennsylvania mining town, her life finds a focus as she learns to deal with family problems and decides the direction her life will take.
As you do.
Subtext: As a throwback to season 1, this time it's Sara's turn to make a surprise visit at their dad's. He is surprised and starts cleaning up his place, but he seems to be in better shape than when Simon originally turned up. His place is just messy, there are no signs of drinking and smoking unlike last time we saw him.
Culture: Who goes to New York to suntan? No-one sane, but sun-starved Scandinavians get a bit of cabin fever after a long dark winter.
Culture: Fake IDs aren't really a thing in Sweden, you're allowed to legally drink at 18, and underage kids are much more likely to have an older friend or sibling or alcoholic parent buy them some booze for a private party instead. Sure, they exist, but equipping your friend group with a bunch of fake IDs to go clubbing is not how it's done.
Subtext: Simon drew a heart on Wilhelm's hand and suggested he get that as a tattoo. Wilhelm objected because he's "not allowed to" as a royal, but here he is, redrawing it on himself, almost as if he's toying with the thought, defying the rules.
Subtext: Simon doesn't know anything about the initiations since he's a lowly external student, and even though they're boyfriends, Wilhelm automatically tries to play it down. He knows it's true though, he doesn't question that, he just doesn't want Simon to know about it because it's humiliating to talk about it.
Cinematography: A++ Main Villain Entry Walk.
Culture: The Swedish Schools Inspectorate is a very real government agency that has the very real power to shut down schools that are mismanaged in any way, either academically, or socially.
Culture: Just a quick reminder that every single third-year student is 18 or 19 years old at this point in time, and therefore they are legal adults, which means the school has less authority over them. However, since it's a boarding school, they can enact and enforce regulations for boarders, and kick them out from their houses if they disobey the rules, which effectively kicks them out of the school while technically not doing that.
Cinematography: I love the camera angle here where we just about see Vincent giving Wilhelm the evil eye for indirectly causing this.
As a closing note, this season felt a lot less subtexty to me, compared to previous seasons. On the other hand, a recurring theme now is the airing of secrets, of exposing the systems that create toxic environments like this, so in line with the theme, a lot of characters are voicing things that were left unsaid in previous seasons.

Hob is hired to cook for a reclusive businessman he never sees. He was hired by his very organized but stressed PA, Lucienne, who tells him that unfortunately his new employer, M. Endless, keeps weird hours and has very strange taste in food.
But the pay is good and Hob doesn’t mind a weird client.
Hob does indeed have weird hours. Sometimes he isn’t needed for a couple of weeks and then suddenly he’ll be on call for a month, staying in a guest bedroom in case he’s texted an order for something random, like cherries jubilee at midnight.
And the house is huge, so he really never sees anyone there.
Until one night his mysterious employer throws a party. Hob has two weeks to prepare and he throws a gigantic feast. Lucienne brings in a ton of very well trained catering staff and at least 200 people dressed to the nines show up.
Hob stays on to cook and make sure everything goes as planned, but when he’s finally allowed a break, he takes it and grabs a cigarette in a corner of the garden.
There, he finds one of the party guests, also apparently avoiding the crowd.
They start talking. The guy is HOT. He looks like a runway model, introducing himself as Dream and hob definitely wouldn’t mind a quickie before his break is over.
Offhand, hob mentions that he works for the host and he’s never met him.
Dream quirks an eyebrow. “You don’t know what he looks like? Nor what he does?”
“No, but he’s a weird one, that’s for sure.”
Hob goes on, charming the man, he’s sure, until Dream finally kisses him (maybe just to shut him up).
Hob gets his quickie, coming with the man’s tongue buried so deep in his arse he could cry. And that’s when Lucienne interrupts.
Turns out hob just called his boss a weirdo, got off with him…oh and they’re out of the waygu sliders.
Alakdjfhshaja its giving great gatsby vibes <333 love it.
Lucienne coughs politely and tells Dream that he's wanted to give his speech to the guests - that's literally how Hob finds out that Dream is the host!! Then he's left to scramble back into the kitchen, furiously wash his hands, and try to make up for his missteps by whipping up a few of Dream’s favoured tidbits to send up for the buffet table. The whole time his knees are trembling and he just can't fucking believe that he had the boss's tongue shoved so far up his hole he was seeing stars.
He doesn't see Dream until its pretty much dawn the next morning. Hob stayed up supervising the cleanup, and he's still diligently wiping down counters when Dream appears in the doorway. He looks exhausted, but he smirks at Hob and beckons him to come closer. Hob goes willingly and drops to his knees, ready to apologise for not recognising Dream and calling him a weirdo. He also really, really just wants to suck Dream off - any excuse to be on eye-level with his cock, honestly.
From now on, Hob’s going to make sure that he delivers Dream’s meals personally - hell, he'll hand feed him if Dream allows it. And Dream (who has never had anyone take such good care of him before, except perhaps Lucienne in a professional capacity) can't help but fall in love with the himbo chef. The sloppy blowjob on the kitchen floor surely convinced him that he'd never be letting Hob find employment elsewhere. Even if he has to promote Hob to "boyfriend" sometime sooner rather than later <3

So Hazz being ‘stunned’ about the backlash to the Pat Tillman award, reminds me of his shock at the ‘frosty’ reception he received at Prince Philip’s funeral. How on earth does he think letting his ‘feelings’ loose via the much hated media will improve the situation is beyond me. I can’t even remember why announcement the winning of the award was done so early, but more than probably RF related. Is it a case of keeping digging to get out of the hole or a massive PR plan that’s going over my head?
Harry wants attention and legitimacy in the US. He thought being a British prince and Diana’s son was enough to make us love and respect him (like it sort of did in the UK) but it didn’t happen.
So now he’s scrambling. Except he’s been scrambling since March 2020 when Edward Young and the BRF called his bluff on half in/half out. Let’s review.
January 2020: He demanded half in/half out and they all laughed at him.
March 2020: Harry signed with the Harry Walker Agency to be a speaker on their lecture/hotel dinner circuit. He gave like two or three speeches to pathetic reception and then gave up.
April 2020: Harry became a mental health advocate during the COVID pandemic and crisis, making comments like he didn’t understand how people living in high-rise apartments could cope without having a green space and that everyone needed some kind of green space for their sanity (yeah, no shit, Sherlock. That’s why COVID was also an enormous mental health crisis.) and encouraging everyone to become certified mental health counselors if they’re bored.
Summer 2020: Harry uses Diana’s memory to justify invading an elementary school with a camera crew during peak summer COVID cycle to plant forget-me-nots. Everyone pops off and it’s clear the backlash stunned the Sussexes.
Fall 2020: The Sussexes rebrand to become misinformation activists.
Winter 2020/2021: The Sussexes rebrand to the Emancipation of Meghan Markle. Philip dies. Harry rebrands to Hero Harry by demanding to wear his military uniform, resulting in no one wearing their military uniforms. He also pivots back to William's Best Brother at the funeral by ignoring the actual arrangements to walk alongside William (as opposed to behind him; Peter was supposed to walk next to William).
Summer 2021: Meghan wants world domination and the Sussexes rebrand to become humanitarian ambassadors.
Fall 2021: Harry rebrands to become a hairdresser global vax advocate. He and Meghan become the figurehead for the Vax Live concert.
December 2021: Harry pivots back to Diana and says his work with COVID is as groundbreaking as her work with HIV/AIDS patients.
February 2022: Harry rebrands as a dude who watches American football by going to the Superbowl and looking bored af.
March 2022: Harry and Meghan buy a new NAACP award for themselves for all the work they did fighting unconscious bias and racism in the BRF.
Spring 2022: Harry goes back to being Hero Harry with The Hague Invictus Games. He pivots back to being a royal when he attends the Platinum Jubilee with Meghan.
Summer 2022: The Emancipation of Meghan Markle continues and Harry re-rebrands as a humanitarian activist, giving an unpassionate speech to a mostly-empty conference room at the United Nations. Unfortunately The Queen dies and Harry gets to pivot back again to being a royal. He gets thrown a Hero Harry PR bone when he's allowed to wear his uniform to the Grandchildren's Vigil and gets to stand behind William and Kate in the procession.
Fall 2022: The Emancipation of Prince Harry's Unconscious Bias begins, with critically-reviled Netflix docuseries.
January 2023: Harry pivots back to Diana and picks up her mantle to destroy Charles and the BRF. He takes it a step further by going after William, when everyone knows Diana only wanted to destroy Charles to put William in his rightful place as soon as possible.
Winter/Spring 2023: Harry abandons his "I hate my family, they're evil" rebrand to go back into the royal fold by attending Charles's coronation.
May 2023: Harry pivots back to Diana by claiming a near-death chase by paparazzi on the busy streets of downtown Manhattan. Damn, if only there was a white fiat instead of witnesses.
Summer 2023: Harry pivots back to his Hero Harry at the Dusseldorf Invictus Games. He also becomes Polo Harry and becomes #husbandgoals when he joins Meghan at a Beyonce concert and looks bored out of his mind.
Fall 2023: Harry pivots back to mental health when he joins Meghan for a panel with Carson Daly on the dangers of social media.
Winter 2023: Harry rebrands as Hero Harry and purchases the Living Legend in Aviation Award for himself, while accusing John Travolta of dining out on his mother. Harry pivots to Hollywood and goes to Jamaica for a movie premiere.
Spring 2024: Harry goes back to Hero Harry and Invictus Games. Harry also pivots back to being a British royal prince with a very misguided tour of Nigeria.
Summer 2024: Hero Harry continues and he purchases the Pat Tillman ESPY.
Look at all the times Harry changed tactics. He can't stick with something long enough to make an impact because he - like his wife - is so impatient for validation. He just wants to be loved! Why won't they love him?! "That's okay," crones Meghan in her soothing Southern California vocal fry as she rocks her toddler husband to calm him out of his anxiety spiral (because she's the only one allowed to collapse in a heap on the floor). "Hush little baby don't you cry. Mama's going to buy you valor and honor."
And that cheers Harry up because Americans like gold (after all, we're the land of 'everyone gets a participation trophy,' Olympic gold medals, and world domination). If we see how many gold trophies and awards he has, then we'll respect him the same way the British public respected and adored him for his titles.
But that's their mistake. They've missed the fundamental realization that Americans don't care about titles and awards. We value action, deeds, follow-through, promises made and promises kept. That's the backlash (and the cause and effect, to quote an earlier post I made) that Harry keeps getting. He doesn't understand that we're a pull-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps-and-don't-complain-how-hard-it-is-just-do-it nation of rebels and troublemakers. We're not going to sit idly by and watch a rich foreigner - from the monarchy that we booted in the first place - wax poetic on our national problems and pat himself on the back for buying awards that make him feel like he's fixed all our problems.
Not when there's real people doing the actual work whose credit he keeps stealing to buy those awards in the first place.
Anyway. I don't remember what my point was...
Oh, right. This is just Harry trying to find value and relevance here in the US. Everything else - Diana, COVID, misinformation, mental health, Hollywood, Meghan, racism and unconscious bias, British prince - sinks faster than he can claim he never got swimming lessons even though William was personally trained on how not to drown by David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson themselves (or whatever his pathetic excuse is. Hero Harry and the veterans is the only thing Harry has left that people pay attention to, and the media is only paying attention to that because Meghan buys them to cover her during all of the Invictus events.
So very long rant short, Harry keeps defaulting back to Invictus Games because it's the only thing that *works* for him. It's the only thing he has left that ties him to the life he used to know (globally adored and nationally beloved British royal soldier). He's going to hold onto it harder, faster, and more angrily than a toddler holding on to something they're not supposed to have.

Yup. And I’m sure there must be at least one phone video of the choir performing the new song at the ball. The music teacher might have asked a non-chorister to film it for her. Or another chorister might have asked a friend who wasn’t in the choir to film their performance.
I bet that gets uploaded to the internet at some point. Simon’s original composition may end up getting that exposure the music teacher and headmistress wanted to give it after all. Just for different reasons than they’d expected.

So, I watched the first two episodes of X-Men 97 and here are my thoughts.
*SPOILERS*
Pros:
Morph got to do some more cool stuff during the fight scenes.
Gambit in a crop top....what? He's hot and a bad@$$.
Speaking of Gambit, he and Rogue have a lot of scenes together, which is great. I do ship them together, and I just want them to be together already.
I freaking love Storm in this. She's one of my favorite X-Men characters. Her voice after killed it again, we see her leadership and compassion as a team and family member, and she's still a freaking bad@$$. She turned some patches of sand into glass with her lightning!! However, something happens to her which I'll get to in a sec.
Magneto's UN trial. It was well done, and Magneto's speeches were pretty good. Then there's what he did after X-Cutioner tried to shoot him. Like, what the hell, show? Are you trying to make me switch to Team Magneto? Seriously, he was really good so far in the show.
Cons:
Now, I'm never a fan of love triangles unless done right. It was bad enough that we still have that with Jean, Cyclops, and Wolverine (especially since Wolverine and Jean is one-sided), which I thought Logan moved on from that but I guess not, we may get another one with Gambit, Rogue, and MAGNETO! Okay, look, I get the Rogue and Magneto thing was in the comics, but since when was that ever established in the animated series?! I never recalled anything going on between the two in the 90s show nor were there any signs of them used to being an item. If this was to give tension for the Rogue/Gambit romance, there are other ways of doing that. Yeah, it was just confusing and weird to me.
Storm losing her powers. This is gonna be a con for now cause I know she'll get her powers back somehow. But seeing her get shot and losing her powers made me lose my s**t cause how dare you do that to her?! Man, I was hoping Magneto was gonna kill X-Cutioner, and frankly, I wouldn't blame him if he did. Not after what he did to Storm. It sucks even more when you got to see how great she is as coleader, sister, and teammate.
And, now, the questions
Is it gonna be explained why Morph has the changeling look instead of his old one from the previous show?
When did Bishop come back? I like him, but I thought he went back to his timeline.
Was expecting Madeline Pryer to show up, but which one is she? Was there a switcheroo and if so, when did that happen?
Does Magneto have an ulterior motive?
When the hell was Magneto and Rogue a thing in the show?!
Will Logan ever move on from Jean?
Why Sunspot and Jubilee? Cause I wasn't feeling it. Dunno why, maybe it's because of how the Sunspot character acts cause I didn't like him much. Also, was that it from the character?
Why doesn't Rogue take one of those collars to nullify her powers so she can be able to touch someone without harming them?
And, that's all I can think of at the top of my head. Liking the show so far. Hopefully, it doesn't fumble.
