What's your opinion on Luckymojo?
I have never bought the products as I live in the UK and usually make my own stuff or use a different supplier. But I have heard good things.
The information on the website and forums is good stuff. Very practical and offers a lot of tips for folk magic and Hoodoo. I know some people take issue with the information for various reasons, but I think it is fairly solid.
For some reason some people seem to say its not 'authentic', however, I don't know what they believe authentic hoodoo or folk magic looks like. There is no one set tradition, it was and very much so is more of orally transmitted tradition in the sense that families, countries, individuals tend to have their own unique flavour.
I know others whose opinions I respect recommend her work, including Jason Miller. That is good enough for me.

A question for hoodoo practitioners
I ended up on luckymojo and I see all those oils, and salves, and powders, and stuff ready for sale. Now, I’m not going to buy anything, but other culture’s practices fascinate me, like, I have an academic curiosity towards everything. So I’d like to understand why there are so many -seemingly- similar oils (etc) like “lucky” oils ec... am I missing the point (they are catered towards specific events, like gambling, or work, or luck in love, etc) or it’s just the website diversifying the products to “sell more”?

"Hoodoo - Conjuration - Witchcraft - Rootwork" (HCWR) is a 5-volume, 4766-page collection of folkloric material gathered by Hyatt in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia between 1936 and 1940. Supplementary interviews were conducted in Florida in 1970.
The "Hoodoo" collection consists of 13,458 separate magic spells and folkloric beliefs, plus lengthy interviews with professional root doctors, conjures, and. All but one of Hyatt's 1600  informants were African-Americans, but several narrations by European-Americans (collected for his earlier book, "Folklore From Adams County, Illinois") were also included. Hyatt recorded the material on Edison cylinders and a device called a Telediphone, often without the full knowledge of the participants. He then transcribed and annotated it for publication. Occasionally his equipment failed or was not available and he took hand-written notes instead. The 1930s field recordings have since been destroyed, with the exception of a few cylinders that Hyatt had pressed onto 78 rpm records. The Florida interviews of 1970, recorded on cassette tapes, have survived.

This is your reminder to do your research on authors (especially when it comes to witchcraft and religion) because I almost just considered buying a Hoodoo book that was penned by the whitest man I ever did see

I didn't mean to imply btw that Lucky Mojo is all wrong and doesn't have any accurate information! You're right, most of it is coming from real sources and/or historical information (as far as I know at least). I just feel given how famous and popular and Googleable Lucky Mojo has become, it's not okay for it to be the main online hub of hooodoo/rootwork resources and learning when it's being run by a white person regardless of where she got those resources from. It's like if white people are gonna make their way into hoodoo, can they at least not be running one of the most well known sites about it?
Lols also New Age Hoodoo...
Tumblr media
I know the witch community on Tumblr heavily surrounds “white magic,” and sometimes, I wonder what y'all would think if I started posting other things. What if I posted about how to fix a man to you so he couldn’t leave you? Would y'all still follow me if I relayed stories about laying tricks? I want to put more information specifically about hoodoo on the web. Not just “how-tos.” How do you know you want to do hoodoo if you don’t really know what it is? If everyone only shows you the good things, your perception of hoodoo will not accurately reflect the history of it. Hoodoo is not all white magic and benevolence.

Crochet Root Bag with High John root and Buckeye Nut 🌿🌿🌿 Old-fashioned and authentic, I crochet these little root bags just like my grandmother taught me over 50 years ago. These special Crochet Root Bags are for folks who appreciate unique items and containers for their roots and can be worn like any medicine bag or amulet pouch. Included with this bag is one small High John Root and a Buckeye Nut. 🌿🌿🌿 https://www.creolemoon.com/store/p852/crochet-root-bag.html 🌿🌿🌿 #conjurecrochet #rootbag #roots #highjohn #buckeyenut #hoodoo #conjure #rootwork #witchcraft #witchylife #hoodoolife #neworleansvoodoo #grisgris #mojo #luckymojo #goddesslife #goddesspower #goddess #sacredspace #wicca #crochet #medicinebag #amuletbag #whatsinyourconjure #creolemoon #authordenisealvarado #artistdenisealvarado (at Prescott, Arizona) https://www.instagram.com/creole_moon/p/BuxmWNiAtZN/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=tazvxsv5umcb

Sorry for bothering you for such a small ask, but can you open a sweetening jar to add more names? I couldn't find reliable resources on this. Also, what psalms would you suggest to read over a honey jar to make it more potent?
It depends on the jar and how you’ve consecrated it. If the jar is consecrated to help with a goal adding names shouldn’t be an issue. If a jar is consecrated for a specific person I wouldn’t add names to it- it’s for that person.
As for psalms it again depends on your intention- your end goal. You can find many psalms for magical uses on Google and luckymojo website.
The charmers psalter by Gemma Gary is also a good book for psalm magic.
I should also add you don’t need to use a psalm to activate/consecrate a honey jar. It’s a good method but there are many others.
