when y/n's ex appears Pt 1.
BC boys: Yuno | Zora | Luck [Part 1]
JJK: Sukuna | Gojo [Part 2]
Haikyuu: Kuroo | Nishinoya | Sakusa [Part 3]
x f! reader
This is gonna be a 3 part series because there's a lot of characters and the tags are gonna be so long so I just decided to put them into 3 parts in the end. Enjoy!!
Tumblr media
Yuno Grinberryall
{So your ex shows up at the golden dawn base to ask you for help with his parents. And although reluctantly, you agreed to help a little because his parents treated you so well when you both were together.}
Yuno is extremely quiet all of a sudden. Eerily quiet. Plotting-someone's-death kinda quiet.
It was obvious the scumbag could settle his family shit on his own but he's just pulling on loose strings trying to get you back.
How could he ever hold a candle to Yuno? Yuno was a humble man but even he himself knew it; your ex could never compare to him.
But there was an eenie weeny part of him that asked: what if?
What if as you spent time together again and with his parents, you miss the old times? Or you realised he's not that bad after all? or worst, fall in love with him again?
When you came home, he'd still didn't talk much. he didn't know what to say either. He didn't want to ask how was your day because he doesn't want to know how you spent it with him.
He didn't want to ask why do you even do all these because he doesn't want to make you feel bad. he knew you did it because you were kind and you don't forget people that were once kind to you.
He loved you for you, so instead, he chose to keep quiet and pull you closer whenever you came home, hugging you close to his chest, nuzzling into your hair, to remind him that you're his. All his.
At some point you know you're hurting his feelings by being close with your ex again, so you reassure him again and again, that once the matter is resolved, you'll cut all contact with your ex.
Just add some cheesy, mushy compliment and Prince Yuno will be all blushing and feeling good again.
Zora Ideale
{Your ex came to the black bulls base, running away from some perpetrators, begging for protection and a place to hide at for awhile. He said he's do anything and he could do cleaning and odd jobs for free. Of course your captain Yami wasn't gonna give up on a free errand boy. Besides, it was only temporary.}
This man was salty af. He would side eye him, stare him down, prank him ALL THE TIME.
Your ex would get a stink bug multiple times a day at random places. Like his pockets, his shoes, his hair even.
Zora was extra snappy with your ex. He would nitpick even on the smallest things.
"It's "you are". not "your". dimwit."
Or he was extremely mean to him.
"You missed a spot here. can't even clean properly."
If you ever told Zora to "be nice" or anything along the line, he'd get upset. He'll give you the look and he'll roll his eyes a little.
Man simply does not care about your ex's feelings or whatsoever. In his eyes, your ex was a low-life for ever hurting you before and he hated the fact that he's now trying to squeeze his way into your life again.
Cue the extreme display for public affections. *Jeng Jeng Jeng*
He'll put his hands around your waist, on your ass, on your shoulders, in your hair, on your thighs. More often than normal.
If you thought that Zora has never cared before this, you're wrong. Now he's even more shameless. He could pull you in for a kiss just in front of your ex's face if he thinks that he's checking you out. (he barely took a glance). And he's always lying on your lap if you're sitting in the shared living room.
Zora never used to care about what you wore in the past. But now, you're not allowed to wear shorts or skirts above the knee. You're also not allowed to wear sleeveless clothes.
If you argue, he'd say: "well, you're the one that wanted to let that leacher in, so dress up unless I'll kick him out and you can be naked for all I care."
Behind closed doors, he's become more of the big spoon. Usually he's also happy being caressed in your arms, but during the period that your ex was here, he always held you firmly in his arms as he slept.
Luck Voltia
{well, you bumped into him when the bulls were on a mission. It had been awhile since you guys talked, so your ex was really keen in catching up. He comes to look for you at every chance he got - during patrol duties, during events, during your off days. Somehow he's appear.}
Luck was initially friendly to him. Asking him if he wanted to spar. Even when he introduced himself as your ex, Luck simple introduced himself as your boyfriend, proudly. He did not even batter an eyelid when your ex said that you used to date.
Your ex tried to spar with Luck but of course Luck would beat him hands down. Your ex tried multiple of times for the first few times they met. But he ended up just embarrassing himself, and Luck would always laugh.
Of course your ex being the stingy and petty person he was, he took it to heart and tried to complain about Luck to the Magic Parliament about a Magic Knight injuring a civilian.
Well, he obviously did not win because he then angered Captain Yami because Yami had to waste his time on a minor issue.
Luck finally understood what your ex was getting at and he then showed no mercy to your ex.
"so... you complaint that I injured you on purpose? Maybe let me show you what is on purpose..." he had a smile on his face when he said it, and it was hella scary.
Luck was on his tail for a good month, teasing him, pranking on him, chasing after him EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Luck was so fast, you didn't even know what happened but in the blink of an eye, your ex was sprawled on the floor. If your ex was headed somewhere, you bet Luck would bring him all the way back to the start point just as he was about to reach his destination.
Whatever your ex touched, was leave a static shock and Luck would just laugh. Your ex could never even find any evidence of Luck playing him or even touching him.
It went on until your ex had to kneel in front of Luck, begging him to stop, "I will never appear in front of you or y/n again, so please leave me off the hook!"
That night, Luck asked you if you would be sad to never see your ex again. "I'm sorry if I went too far this time round..."
But of course you reassured him that you have not seen your ex in ages and of course you would never mind not ever seeing him again.
And Luck was back to his jovial self.

Luck Voltia and Magna Swing
Things weren’t going too well for you, there’s no way to hide that fact.
From whatever it was, your day was poisoned by unhappiness, and you didn’t know what to do to aid it.
Of course, you refused to let any of the other bulls in on how you were feeling. It was especially difficult to keep Asta from pestering you; the kid is very attentive.
“Show. Never tell.” Is what you would tell yourself, forcing the feelings back into a tiny box.
You tried so hard to keep your face up as you walked through the base, but most days it was impossible to get anything besides a hopeless frown.
When asked how you were, you shrugged it off, merely explaining that you just have a “resting sad face”
Many believed you, nodding with an “ohh” while walking away.
But Magna we’re not buying into any of your nonsense. The two would exchange worried glances at your excuses.
When the team slowly gathered together in the living room after dinner, you were not doing great whatsoever. Your mood was sour, and you were barely focused on anything.
“Hey, everything alright?” Asta asked as he sat next to you. “You didn’t eat at dinner, and usually you have a great appetite.”
You sighed with a broken smile, “To be honest I’m-“
“Oh my god, Asta, did you see what Yami had me doing today? I didn’t get a break once! I’m so tired of being his wheels all the time,” Finral whined as he plopped down next to the anti-magic user.
To your dismay, everyone gathered around their senior to listen to his tale of woe, leaving you behind and ignored again.
You stand up and retreat to your bedroom, leaving without a single word.
You didn’t have much time alone before there was a gentle knocking on your door. “(Y/N)? Can we come in?” It was Luck’s voice…?
You didn’t reply, instead burying your head into your pillow. You heard their bickering through the door.
“Looks like we’re doing this the hard way-“
“Magna no! They didn’t give us permission to come in-“
“And what if something happened to them?? Would you rather us stand out here and do nothing when-“
“You need to respect their wishes!”
“You can come in,” you say stoically, not moving from your previous position.
The door opens slowly, revealing the two bulls.
“Hey, careful doing that,” Magna quickly made his way over to your bed, turning your head toward them. “You’ll suffocate if you don’t leave room for air.”
“Whatever…” you murmur, eyes glazed over.
“(N/N),” Luck begins, “Are you okay?”
You sit upright to greet them “Yeah I’m-“
“No, like actually okay,” he interrupts, moving to sit next to you.
There’s a solemn silence…
“Hey, (N/N), tell us what’s going on, kid,” Magna hums as he brushes a few stray hairs out of your face, sitting on your other side.
They wait with baited breath for your reply, worry evident in their eyes.
“I’m not okay… and I don’t know what to do,” you finally confess in a sotto-voce tone.
Both put a supportive hand on your back or shoulder, listening carefully.
“Everything is falling apart… and I-I’m not sure what to do. I’m usually g-good at fixing things but…” you laugh a bit in pitifulness, “I can’t even fix myself.”
“You don’t have to fix yourself; that’s why we’re here,” the mowhawked mage mutters, squeezing your shoulder gingerly.
“But what if I can’t be fixed? What if I have to live like this every day?”
“Nothing lasts forever,” Luck’s sweet voice chimes. “Time won’t stop whenever you feel sad, it will keep moving and you’ll be forced to feel better.”
“It feels so hopeless… nobody cares…” you whisper
“That’s not-“ he attempts.
“It is true. The moment Fin complained, everyone turned to listen to him instead. I don’t feel heard or respected… I don’t-“ tears start to fill your eyes “I feel so alone.”
“Hey,” Magna’s low voice sounds, “You are far from alone…” he wipes a falling tear with his thumb. “You have people who love you and are willing to support you every step of the way.”
“Yeah!” A quiet cheer of approval left the lightning mage. “You know how much we love you, and we would do anything for you to feel like yourself again.”
The flame mage gets in front of you, locking your eyes. “Tell us anything that’s on your mind… what’s making you feel like less than you are? Anything is fair game, don’t be afraid.”
You look around at their concerned faces once more, and suddenly everything falls apart. Your shoulders heave up and down as your body is wracked with the sobs you’ve been keeping hidden.
As you wail loudly, the two instantly move in to hug you. Magna cradles your head against his chest while Luck hugs around your torso and lays his head on your lap.
The two wordlessly cling onto you as you spill your tale of woe. Many—having heard your pained cries— attempt to check in multiple times. Magna shooed them instantly, shooting a death glare to anyone who tried to enter.
When you finally finished, you slumped downward, resting in their loving embrace. “Thank you…”
“Anytime, kid… anytime.” Magna whispered as he pats your shoulder.
When no response was given from the Cherry berserker, the two of you look down to notice that he had fallen asleep on your lap.
And for the first time that day, you started laughing.

helloo:) I hope you're doing well!
Do you think you can do a lee!luck ler!Yami? (if you want to ofc), either like; Luck was feeling down and Yami decided to tickle him, or he wasn't doing good In training.
(I can imagine Yami being a brutal ler tbh, if he pinned someone I doubt they could get away while he teases and tickles people. I feel like to tease and embarrass people he'd use baby talk to tease like; "what? Can't take your wittle tum-tum being tickled?"
SORRY I RANTED, you dont have told do a fic like this btw:) hope you're doing well
TickleTober Day #20: Tickle Monster
Luck and Yami (Black Clover)
~~~
It said a lot about Yami’s strength and speed as a captain that he was able to get Luck into this position in the first place. One may argue that it was luck itself that had something to do with it, but the boy knew better, and everyone knew better, so no one dared to call him out for it.
Luck was too busy shrieking and thrashing to do much of anything else, anyway.
“I’m sohohohohohorry, I’m sohohohohohohorry! Yahahahahahami!”
“Didn’t I tell you to calm the hell down?” Yami grumbled good-naturedly as he pinned the magic knight to the couch, fingers drilling deep into his sensitive sides.
Luck tried and failed once again to twist his way out of there, earning another ticklish squeeze for his efforts. “Gahahahahaha I’m sohohohohohorry!”
“Are you?” Yami chuckled. “You sure kept it up when I was yelling at you to knock it off. I was beginning to think you wanted me to punish you.”
The blonde didn’t protest one way or the other – he just kept squirming and laughing and pushing uselessly at the captain’s broad shoulders.
“Oh? You did? Well then, this isn’t much of a punishment for you, is it? It’s a reward.”
Luck knew from the shift in his boss’ voice what was about to come next, and he squealed and tried wriggling away for real, managing to escape for only a split second before he suddenly found himself face-first in the couch, those dastardly tickling fingers now hooked under his arms.
“GAHAHAHAHAHA NOHOHOHOHOHOHO!!” he screamed, dissolving into helpless bouts of mirth, legs kicking even after Yami had taken a seat on his backside, tickling him like there was nowhere else he’d rather be. “NOT THEHEHEHEHEHERE YAMI, PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE!!”
Yami smirked. It was unfair how easily he was able to pin Luck in place – it took no effort at all for him to draw the loudest shrieks and peals of hysteria from the lightning mage. The captain would be lying if he said he wasn’t having fun, though. “Heh. Even people who like this kinda thing have a weak spot. Looks like I found yours, huh?”
“PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE!!”
“I dunno. I don’t think you’ve really got it in your head that I need you to chill the hell out for today, Luck…” Yami smiled and grabbed one of Luck’s arms to pry it over his head, ignoring the boy’s giggly pleading as he scratched at his now open armpit.
The blonde wailed and laughed so hard he thought his lungs might give out on him, kicking and begging for mercy, but Yami didn’t let up until he could see that the blonde was truly growing desperate. Then he let him go and ruffled his hair, but he wasn’t fooling anyone, least of all Luck.
When it came to tickling, no one could be beat. The captain of the Black Bulls was a downright tickle monster.
But they all loved him for it.
hey, may i please request domestic headcanons with zora, luck and yuno?
Hiya~! ^^
Of course! It's been a while since I've gotten anything domestic. Hope you like this!
Pairing: Zora x gn!reader, Luck x gn!reader, Yuno x gn!reader Fanfic type: Headcanons Length: ~0.75k Genre: general/fluff
Tumblr media
Zora
Zora is very good with housework. Which surprised you in the beginning, because he certainly didn’t look the part. But it turned out that he was more than familiar with doing things around the house.
The first time you had asked him to do laundry, you expected him to mutter something, or maybe even ask how does one do it, but he just uttered a “sure” and did as he was asked to do.
Late it turned out that he had had to learn how to do housework ever since a young age, which explained why he was so knowledgeable. And it was then that you realized that a lot of little things just ‘mysteriously’ had got done, without you doing them or asking someone to do them. Which meant that Zora had done them in passing.
It was a habit he had, doing things as they appeared and he got around to them, without a word. He never made them seem like chores in the sense that it would have been taxing to do them.
Little did you know, he found it .. nice, to be able to do chores, now that he had someone in his life. The idea of coming home to a neat house, was lovely. And he was damn sure that he was going to do his part in assuring that it’s take place; that the house was clean, the laundry and dishes were done.
He was also an excellent cook. But not in the sense that the food would have tried to be more than it was, just good, simple home cooking. Heart-warming food.
Yes, he was an excellent spouse, who had no issue taking care of the house.
Luck
Luck isn’t well versed with housework. He does know how to do the basic chores and how to clean, because he had to participate at the orphanage, but he’s not big on it. In fact, when he was still young, he broke more while cleaning than clean, which is why he was excused more often than not.
But after joining the Bulls, and being a part of the squad in making the Hideout into a home, he begun taking more responsibility with domestic chores. Which didn’t mean that he still liked them, but he did do his part.
However, he never fusses about chores. Yes, they are something that need to be done, but if you’re having a bad day, or he can just get a feel that doing housework is very taxing on that day, he’d do something fun with you instead. The dishes can wait. The dust can be swept on the next day.
And he will take care of his share too. He might not, still, be the best at housework, but he can cook simple food, he can dust and do laundry. He is able to do all the things that is required, but making life enjoyable is more important to him.
His goal is to make you laugh, and keep you happy. And sometimes he does bring you flowers after a cleaning day just to cheer you up.
You are the most important thing in his life.
Yuno
Yuno is able to handle all chores due to growing up in the orphanage, and he is very organized and meticulous about it, usually preferring to stick to a predetermined cleaning days in order to handle the chores.
Though in the Golden Dawn, he didn’t need to partake in them anymore. But in an odd way he misses it, even if only a little bit, because it was a part of his childhood. All of the kids, Sister Lily and Father Orsi just worked together to get the church cleaned. At the time it wasn’t particularly fun, but it grew to be a treasured memory nonetheless.
Especially since as Spade Royalty, chores aren’t exactly in his future either.
But he does stay very organized throughout his life, and at times you can catch him dusting something with his magic, even if he wouldn’t need to. It’s just a little quirk of his.
Once he surprises you at a trip to the country side, where he has rented a small cottage for the two of you, and he cooks for you. Just because he can. And it’s like you two were living quiet, simple life, even if for only that trip.
He finds joy from little things, along with being able to chase his dreams; which include a life with you.
Hii! Can you do a Luck fanfiction where he finds the reader crying? The reader is always cheerful and happy, but is secretly depressed. So he was surprised to see them like this.
Tumblr media
LUCK with a depressed s/o
. In which luck finds his precious significant other crying. . warnings: depression.
✧.* luck x gn reader
Tumblr media
Luck doesn't know where you are, which is rare. Usually by any moment right now you'd be in the black bulls lounge area chirping away at whatever antics you've been up to. But now that he thinks of it, it’s been ages since he’s last actually seen you functioning properly.
He feels funny. That feeling you get where you know just something isn't right and he hates it. He hates feeling this way especially when it's about YOU.
You were always one of the brighter ones of the squad, uplifting people when they were feeling down and discouraged. Now that he thinks of it, he doesn't think he's ever seen you get comforted but at the same time he's never seen you upset.
Is it possible for a person like you to even get upset?
The sobs he was hearing proved him otherwise though. As he walked past the hallways, he heard you. The hallways were dim but through the crack of the slightly open door he could see the bright lights shining through.
Much to his dismay, there you were sprawled out on your bed without a care in the world crying with a tub of sweets by your side.
"I don't have the energy for this Luck!" You threw one of the plushies HE got for you at him. He catches it and just looks at you in confusion. Is this real?
Because what he was seeing on your bed just couldn't be you right? Distressed and letting down all your guard, ultimately showing your tear stained face and horror blood shot eyes. It didn't just stop there either; you were gripping onto the sheets and suffocating your sobs into the pillow.
The state of your room wasn’t any better. It looked as if someone mistaken it as a rage room, it was abhorrent to say the least.
"Y/N, what's wrong?"
You simply gave him a weak frown, "Not that you’d care."
To that he just frowns. Why would you doubt him like that?
"If I didn’t care I’d be a shit boyfriend." He sat down on your bed, encouraging you to begin on letting your feelings out. But you were stubborn.
"Just why would I do that? No one takes me seriously anyways" despite saying that, you sunk your head into his shoulder, grabbing onto his shoulder. "Where did I go wrong in life, Luck?"
The grab on his shoulder became more intense; you were biting your lips harshly and hid your eyes away.
"Everyone else got so lucky with their parents! I’ve grown up miserable with them."
Luck thinks back on it, you’ve never mentioned your parents before. But he doesn’t say anything. He needs to let your feelings out first.
"Not once since I’ve come here have I received a letter from them- after ruining my life they can’t even say sorry now that I’ve done what they’ve wanted and become a magic knight?" Now you’re a mess.
Your hair was sticking onto your face and you had salty tears streaming down your pretty face, staining it.
And Luck just hugged you. Held you close and comforted you whispering sweet nothings into your ear reassuring you.
"Everyone thinks I’m incapable of being sad but God you haven’t seen the worst!" You try and get out of his grasp, still hurt from your past.
"I won’t be taken advantage of again-"
"That’s enough Y/N." Luck held your arms and looked straight into your eyes.
"Every single member in this squad appreciates you more than you think, they adore you. They admire your will to strive and encourage other people and God do I love your stubbornness in our fights. I love everything about you."
You gawked at your boyfriend. He wasn’t done though.
"and lord do I love your smile so don’t let it be sullen with your past because now in the present you’re loved a lot." He gave you one of his smirks and it just made you cry even more.
Not so much sad tears but definitely you felt just a little bit happier.
Luck wasn’t so fortunate himself and he too was on his last straw but being able to fight people stronger than him and have you by his side was enough. He hoped it could be the same for you.
"I just always feel like this Luck and I just don’t know how I’ve managed to fight like this" He again took you in his arms and took in everything.
He understood you were depressed, unhappy with how you yourself was and he heard you out. Sat there the whole night taking in what you were saying.
It’s true at times you weren’t faking that smile, you enjoyed the moments with your boyfriend a lot. You kept all his little trinkets and treasured them.
You were snug holding onto the plushie he bought you on your first date in the city. It was unreal to you. You were loved and you thought it was just surreal. You held the thought close to you and you’ve grown to appreciate that fierce boyfriend of yours.
You can get used to this. Letting your feelings out wasn’t so bad after all. And although it would take time to heal, you knew Luck would always be with you through thick and thin.
Your Soothing Heart (And Cats!)
WHAAAT? I’m alive? Yeaaaaaah
“Luck! Luck!” Magna yelled as he walked through the woods, visibly irritated. ‘Gah… Where the hell has the brat gone now?’
This was supposed to be a quick mission… Find a stupid cat and you’re done. It was as simple as that. But no. Luck just had to go run off on his own. Magna swears, Luck will never change. Magna thought about how far he was from the village the cat comes from, could a cat really wander this far? They checked everywhere else…
Magna only had the patience to look for one animal.
With each step, Magna became more frustrated than he was before. Luck really knew how to get on his nerves sometimes… “Luck! This isn’t funny, come out. You’re pissing me off.
That’s when Magna heard a quiet ‘meow’. He snapped his head over to the sound and saw a little white cat with golden eyes. A cat they (AS A TEAM) we’re supposed to find. At least this was a plus.
Magna stepped forward to pick it up, that’s when it started to go the opposite way. “Oh, you little—“
As they went through the forest, Magna couldn’t help but get the feeling that the cat wasn’t necessarily trying to get away from him… Since it kept waiting once it was far enough away from Magna… That or it’s just that mean.
That’s when it hit him. This mana. It was strange, and it had bad vibes all over it. Following the cat more, the mana got stronger.
The little cat went into a cave. That was suspicious in itself, but a mission is a mission. When Magna got in, he was hit with a wave of warmth and purple light came from around the corner. And the more he went in, the more of this purple gunky, charcoal looking stuff there was.
Then his heart dropped. Reaching the end of the small cave, he saw where the cat was leading him. On the ground, completely passed out, was Luck. Magna ran over in an instant. “Luck! Luck, hey! Are you alright?”
Magna began to feel nauseous. He put one arm under Luck’s knees, the other on his back as he picked Luck up (the cat on Luck’s stomach). Magna could tell this had something to do with this gross mana. So he got out of there with Luck as fast as possible. “Goddamn it, Luck… You’re so reckless… You’ll get yourself killed one of these days.” Magna muttered with discomfort in his tone.
Once Magna believed they were far enough, he laid Luck’s unconscious body against a tree and tried to shake him awake. He looked pale and filthy… ‘What did the brat get himself into?’
Luck started stirring awake, his vision was blurry… There was a strange sinking feeling in his chest as he looked around.
“Luck? Are you okay? You look pretty out of it…” Magna places a hand on Luck’s cheek to turn his head towards him. The feeling was strange. It’s like Luck was freezing and burning at the same time, there was definitely something wrong.
As soon as Luck realized he was awake, his breath hitched and it began to pick up. He slapped Magna’s hand away and scoot back.
“Don’t touch me!”
Magna looked shock as his face covered itself with worry and confusion. “Woah! Luck, it’s me… You’re okay…”
Luck groaned in pain as he looked around frantically, clearly very panicked and confused. He began to shake and his heart wouldn’t stop pounding in his chest. “It hurts! Make it stop!” Luck clenched his head, tearing up.
Magna could feel his anxiety go through the roof. He’s never seen Luck like this, and it scared the shit of him. He hated seeing someone he cared about so much in pain. The worst part was that he didn’t know how to help. “Luck, hey… What‘s wrong?”
It was like Luck was in a different world, seeing things that weren’t there. “I’m sorry… It’s my fault…” Luck muttered in his nonsensical gibberish. He reached his hand out to nothing… or something…
Magna was getting real sick of whatever game this was. However, he was much more concerned than he was annoyed. Magna pulled Luck into a tight embrace and whispered softly. “Hey, it’s alright… I’m here… just calm down…”
Luck’s voice got quieter as he took time to listen to Magna’s heartbeat. The pounding was calm. Luck rested his head and became silent.
“Jeez… You scared me… What’s wrong?” Magna pat Luck on the back in a comforting manner. When Luck lifted his head, Magna couldn’t help but notice how dizzy and delirious he looked. “You look terrible… Can you see me? Hey.” Magna waved his hand in front of Luck’s face. Luck was only to move his head in confusion. ‘Clearly not…’ Magna thinks to himself. On the bright side, at least Luck had calmed down…
Magna takes a deep breath and picks Luck up. They get onto Magna’s crazy cyclone and head back to the Black Bulls Hideout.
The moment Magna enters with Luck in his arms, most eyes turn to them. Vanessa gets up and walks over with a worried look. “Luck?! Is he alright?”
Magna shrugs. “I don’t know. I found him lying in a weird cave and then he started freaking out and crap…” Magna says with an annoyed tone, but in reality he’s the person most worried about his dear friend.
Vanessa sighs. “I’ll call a doctor over, take him to his room for some rest.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Magna nods as he continues on.
“Hm, I see… It seems your friend here has mana poisoning.” Doctor Owen states after finishing his examination.
Magna tilts his head. “Mana poisoning? The hell does that mean?”
“In some areas, mana builds up and becomes toxic. The more mana one has, the more they’ll be affected. Meaning if a royal was in Luck’s place, they’d be in much worse shape. I suspect you were only able to get Luck out so easily was because of your lack of mana.” He explained. Magna groaned in irritation. Every time! It’s always about mana every time. Though, in the case it was a good thing… Magna supposes it’s not so bad if it’s the best way to save Luck.
Magna takes a deep breath. “So what exactly is wrong with him?”
“There’s a lot of symptoms. The mana tends to use one’s memories as a method to scramble the brain. Sometimes it causes hallucinations, mood swings, and emotional distress. It should go away within a few days, so be sure he gets lots of rest and that his temperature doesn’t get too hot or cold. Another thing I should add, victims of mana poisoning shouldn’t be left alone under any circumstances.” After the explanation was given, Magna took a few moments to process.
“Oh, ok… I’ll guess I can take care of him. It’s not like I want to or anything… It’s the manly thing to do!” Magna glances at Luck who was fast asleep. After Doctor Owen took his leave, he sat beside him.
“Seriously, man? Getting yourself mana poisoning? I’ll never let you live this down.”
That’s when Magna heard a meow and he saw none other than a little golden-eyed cat lay on Luck’s stomach. That’s right… Magna completely forgot about him.
“Magnaaaaaaa…!”
Magna clenched his teeth as he walked over to Luck for the 3rd time in the last 10 minutes. “Whaaaaat?”
Luck giggled and waved. “Hi!”
“Seriously?! That’s all? Hi! Next time there better be an actual reason…” Magna knew taking care of Luck of all people would be a pain, nevermind a Luck that’s delirious like this!
“Magna, I’m hungry.” Luck says with a bored expression. The cat meowed, it was probably hungry too.
“Great, do you want a reward?” Magna jokes. However, it seemed Luck didn’t get the joke because he looked sad now. “It was a joke. I’ll get you something… What do you want?”
Luck rolled over, ignoring Magna. Magna scoffed and walked over to the side Luck turned to.
“Hey! You can’t just ask me to get you something and not tell me what it is!”
“Huh…? Do you know where she is?” Luck asked out of the blue.
Magna’s expression turned to confusion as he sighed. “You know what? I’ll pick for you.” Magna walked out and downstairs to bother Charmy.
“Charmy! Make something for Luck to eat.” Magna demands.
Vanessa tilts her head as she sees Magna. “Magna! What are you doing? Did you leave Luck alone?”
Magna froze for a moment and coughed. “Oh yeah… It’s only for a moment though.”
“Get back up there! Charmy will bring it up for you.”
Magna rolled his eyes and turned around. “Fine! But you’re not my mom!”
Upon entering Luck’s room, Magna noticed something wrong. Something is missing…
Magna looked around. “Luck? Where’d you go?” It didn’t take long for him to figure out Luck had left the room. He walked through the halls, trying to find out where he could’ve gone. Magna spots a furry white tail from around the corner. And surprise, it’s the cat. Magna followed it around and saw it go upstairs.
‘Guess I can check upstairs more…’ As soon as Magna reached the stairs, something— someone crashed into him. They both hit the floor, causing a thud. “Ow! What the… Luck? The hell are you doing?”
Luck got up and looked around, confused. Magna tried to turn Luck’s attention towards him, slightly concerned.
“Luck, hey… It’s me. What are you doing?”
Luck made eye contact with Magna and answered simply like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “I’m looking for my mom.”
Magna took a moment to process. “Your… mom?”
“Do you know where she went…?”
Magna’s heart ached seeing Luck so confused and vulnerable. Magna didn’t know much about Luck’s mom, but he knew enough to know he didn’t like her. Magna couldn’t possibly tell Luck the truth with him in such a state. “Um… Your mom… she just went to the shop to… get some medicine because you’re sick. If you aren’t in bed, she’ll worry…”
Luck tilted his head. “She’ll worry about me?”
Magna nodded in confirmation. “That’s right, so come on… back to bed…”
Luck agrees and goes with Magna to his room once again. Once he’s safely in bed again, Magna checks his temperature. “Jeez, you’re like a stove.” Magna grabbed Luck’s empty glass and filled it up while also getting a wet cloth. “This outta help you cool off.”
“Magna… why do you deal with me?”
Magna raises an eyebrow, what kind of question was he trying to ask? “What do you mean?”
“I’m always ruining your things and making you mad… don’t you ever want me to go away?”
Magna felt mad again, Luck really knew how to get under his skin. “What the hell are you talking about? Who told you I wanted you to go away? Who else would I spar with? And my things? Who cares…? I’ll just get new things, and it’s not like other people would deal with me as well as you. Plus, we’re best friends, I’m used to you by now.” Magna admits he got a bit worked up, but it was Luck’s fault!
Luck stared at him for a moment and started to whine.
“What the…?” Magna scratches his head. What did he do? “Luck, why are you crying?” Magna sat down beside Luck. Luck leaned against Magna, Magna’s face heated up.
“You’re a loser.”
Steam came out of Magna’ ears. “Wh— Hey!” Luck started to laugh at Magna. “Psh, whatever… I don’t care.”
The cat crawled into Luck’s arms. Magna had to admit, Luck cuddling with a furry kitty was pretty adorable.
The next few days were a real pain for Magna. From Luck making fun of him like usual to whining like a baby. Luck is too hot! Luck is too cold! The cat is hungry! Magna swears, he’s never gonna let Luck go near toxic mana again if it means having to not deal with this.
“How are you still sick? The doctor said you should be fine after a few days…”
“Hey, Magna.” Luck sat up, letting his gaze fall onto Magna. Magna looked up at Luck.
“What now?”
Luck scooted closer to Magna. “How do you feel about me?”
Magna froze in place. “Huh?”
Luck smirked and repeated the question. “How do you feel about me? You’ve been taking care of me for the last few days, it’s like you like me or something…”
Was Luck making fun of him?!
“What are you saying?! Me like you? Psh…” Though when Magna thought about it… Luck had a point. “I mean… You’re not bad or anything… uh…”
“Is your face red?”
“No!” Magna shouted. Luck just smiled and started laughing at him. That’s when Magna became silent for a minute. “Hey! You’re not sick anymore! You’re faking it!”
Luck acted all confused. “What? I don’t know what you’re talking about~!”
“Luck, seriously… Why would you ask me that?”
“I thought I could make you say it.” Luck explained vaguely.
“Say what?!” It was Magna’s turn to act clueless. The cat meowed, Magna never thought he’d see a cat more unimpressed than that one.
Luck shrugged his shoulders and ran out the door. Magna immediately chased after him. “Hey! Where are you going!?”
“Catch me if you can!”
Magna gladly accepts the challenge and charges after the little devil.
Running outside, Magna has completely lost Luck. Magna glanced around on high alert… If he knew Luck then he knew… From behind!
Magna stepped out of the way and Luck came at him. “Ha! I—“
Magna was caught off guard when Luck grabbed his face and kissed him. When Luck stopped, Magna stood there for a whole 2 minutes. “Magna? Are you alive?”
“That was… cheating.”
Luck’s smile rises back up on his face as he cheers. “I win!”
A meow interrupted them as they both looked over at the little white cat. Luck picks it up and turns back to Magna.
“Hey, Magna! Let’s go return him together. It can be our first date!”
“You want our first date to be finishing up a boring mission?” Magna questioned him.
Luck nodded happily.
“Sounds good.”
The Mummy AU for Yamichar, please, I think it would be so fitting 🤩💙🖤
Hiya anon! Ooo this does feel fitting for Yamichar! I had so much fun writing this, and I thank you for requesting them. I included Luck in this as Jonathan because…i love the theory that Luck is Charlotte’s brother, and because it makes it more fun! Also the money amount that i mention in this is all in Egyptian Pound currency and is all roughly between 200-1,000 USD! I hope you enjoy~!
Word Count: 2,260
Warnings: Mentions of hanging, noose, gallows.
————
“ Welcome to Clover Prison!” The prison warden announced proudly as he grandly gestured around the small, dusty prison as though it were some majestic palace.
Charlotte Roselei quickly cleared her throat but gave the warden a polite nod as she looked around at the prison. She locked arms with her younger brother, Luck, and pulled him close to her; she could see the excitement in his eye as he looked around the prison.
Knowing her luck, if she let go of him at any point during their visit, he would get himself into a fight with a prisoner or worse; he would end up in here as a prisoner.
“ I still can’t believe you stole this puzzle box and map to Hamunaptra-,” Charlotte whispered before Luck cut her off.
“ I didn’t steal it, I just picked his pocket like Zora taught me too!” Luck corrected as he continued to look around the prison with bright eyes.
“ And then you lied to me about it when you gave it to me at the museum!” She finished, her blue eyes narrowing sternly.
“ It isn’t the first time I’ve lied to you,” Luck pointed out innocently, which made Charlotte’s jaw drop.
“ But I’m your sister!”
“ So? How does that make you any more special than everyone else?” He asked, and in response his older sister grabbed his cheek and pulled it forcefully. “ Ow, that hurts!”
“ Remind me to never let you hang out with that Zora or Magna fellow again!” She growled before she let go of his cheek. He quickly pouted at her.
“ Aw lighten up Charlotte, we’re here to have fun!” He told her, and that only made her glare intensify.
“ We are not here to have fun, we are here to see the man you stole that puzzle box from!” She hissed. “ And I will only lighten up once we do and then once we get out of here!” Charlotte then turned towards the warden.
“ May I ask why this man is in prison?” She asked him curiously, as he hadn’t explained it at all this entire time.
“ I have no idea,” The warden admitted. “ When I heard you were coming, I decided to ask him myself, and he said ‘I was just looking for a good time.’” As soon as the words left the wardens lips the cell door burst open and out walked a man with two prison guards at his side.
He was a tall man with a very muscular build. His grey eyes were narrowed in irritation and defiance as one of the guards hit him behind the knees in order to make him kneel. His messy black hair was down around his shoulders and was slightly dusty from the sand.
Charlotte looked at her brother and raised her brow, asking if this guy was truly the one who had the puzzle box, and Luck nodded.
“ Who are you?” The man asked gruffly as his eyes shifted towards Luck, but then slowly moved their way towards Charlotte. “ And who’s the princess?”
“ P-Princess?!” She stammered, her voice a mixture of shock and annoyance. “ I’ll have you know sir, that I am not a princess-!”
“ Oh! This is my older sister Charlotte, and my name’s Luck!” Luck introduced them brightly to the man in the cell, who nodded slowly in response.
“ I figured you two were related,” The man muttered. “ But I wasn’t sure if she was your sister or your mom.”
“ H-His mother-?!”
“ Hey kid,” The man cut Charlotte off, causing her to only become more irritated by him. “ Do I know you from somewhere?”
Luck nodded eagerly.
“ Sure do! We met at a bar a few weeks ago,” Luck said, and the mans grey eyes widened in recognition.
“ You’re the kid that stole my box!” The man exclaimed as he pointed a finger at the younger man, who nodded happily.
“ I sure am!” He confirmed with a firm nod. “ Y’know, you really should keep a better eye on your belongings!”
The man in the cell reached out between the bars towards Luck, who happily jumped out of his reach, before taking off running in the opposite direction with a cheerful laugh.
“ I’m gonna kill you once I get my hands on you, ya brat!” The man growled, but Luck only laughed in response.
“ I’d like to see you try!”
Charlotte sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose, this really wasn’t the time for Luck to be picking a fight!
“ Speaking of your puzzle box,” Charlotte quickly said as she walked up to the cell and crouched down in front of the man. “ That’s actually why we came here, to ask you about it,”
The man stared blankly at her for a moment.
“ No you didn’t,” He told her bluntly. “ You came here because you wanted to know about Hamunaptra.”
Charlotte’s eyes widened, her brows raised, and her mouth opened partially in surprise; he saw right through her!
“ You…know about Hamunaptra?” She questioned quietly as she leaned close to his cell.
The man nodded.
“ Yeah, I even saw it in person,” He replied, and that only made her eyes widened more.
“ You saw it? With your own eyes?”
“ Yep,”
“ You swear?” She asked with her eyes narrowed in suspicion, and the man grinned at her a bit.
“ Every damn day,” Charlotte sighed and once again pinched the bridge of her nose.
“ That’s not what I meant,” She muttered.
“ Yeah I know what you meant Princess, I was just tryn’ to lighten the mood,” He told her with a small shrug.
“ Don’t call me ‘princess’,” She growled a bit as her eyes narrowed again in annoyance. The man held up his hands and his grin turned into a smirk as he looked at her.
“ Sorry,” He apologized simply, but there was something about the look in his eye that told Charlotte he wasn’t sorry at all.
“ Anyway,” She cleared her throat before putting a hand discreetly against her face. “ Could…you tell me where it is?”
The man’s brows raised in an ‘are you serious?’ look as he stared at her. She once again cleared her throat.
“ You know, it’s exact location,” She whispered, and once again the man gave her a look.
“ You want to go to the city of the dead?” He questioned, his tone a mixture of confusion, disbelief, and curiosity.
“ Yes, I do!” She confirmed with a nod the man tilted his head a bit.
“ And you really wanna know where it is?” He asked, his brow raised slightly. Charlotte once again nodded.
“ Well, yes,” She confirmed as though it were completely obvious. If she was asking where it was, didn’t that clearly mean she wanted to go there?
Charlotte knew how weird and crazy it sounded, wanting to go to the city of the dead, but this was something she had been looking for for years! And now that it was within her grasp, she wasn’t going to let this opportunity slip by!
The man nodded; after sighing in resignation, he gestured for her to come closer with his index finger. She quickly did as he instructed and moved closer to the bars until their faces were mere inches apart.
Suddenly; the man reached out, pulled her face close to his, and pressed his lips against hers in a firm kiss that lasted a moment or two before he pulled away.
“ Then get me the hell outta here!”
Charlotte, who was startled by the sudden kiss, jumped up and backed away from the cell; her blue eyes wide and her heart racing as she tried to figure out why on earth he would kiss her suddenly like that!
“ Do it Prickly Princess, and I’ll take you where you want to go!” The man in the cell said as he began to fight the guards in the cell.
Despite him being handcuffed, he was still able to knock out quite a few guards, and when even more guards came to restrain him, they still had trouble dragging him away.
“ P-Prickly Princess?!” She shouted indignantly as the cell door slammed shut, an irritated huff escaping her as she pinched the bridge of her nose for the third time in the last thirty minutes.
That man was infuriating! But as much as hated to admit it; she needed him if she wanted to get to Hamunaptra, so for now she would do as he told her and try to get him out of prison.
“ Where are they taking him?” She asked the warden as she crossed her arms, and the warden looked from her to the cell.
“ They’re going to hang him,” He explained simply as though it were some normal, everyday thing.
“ Hang him?!” She exclaimed, her eyes widened and her heart racing as the man nodded.
“ Indeed, apparently, he had a very good time.” The warden responded as he began to walk away.
Charlotte shook her head; she couldn’t let them do that, not only because it was wrong, but also because she needed him! If he was hanged before she could get the location of Hamunaptra, then the city and knowledge inside it would be lost forever!
She couldn’t, no, wouldn’t let that happen!
She quickly grabbed the back of Luck’s shirt and began to drag him behind her as she followed the warden.
“ Look, can’t we make a deal for his release? I don’t know what he did, but surely he shouldn’t be hanged for it?” She asked as she followed the warden up a flight of stone steps towards an observation deck.
“ Listen lady; the only type of deals we make here are the kind that involve money,” The warden told her as he pinched his fingers together before rubbing them. He stepped out on the observation deck, and Charlotte and Luck followed suit.
She gasped softly as she looked out and saw a wooden structure in the middle of a small ‘arena’ with a noose hanging down, and after a moment she watched as the guards dragged the man out of the prison and towards the gallow.
This wasn’t good, she needed to hurry!
“ How much will it cost for me to buy his freedom? Name your price!” Charlotte quickly offered as she sat down beside the warden.
“ I say we should let him and the guards fight it out,” Luck interjected as he stared down into the arena. “ Like what the gladiators in Rome did, that way he can earn his freedom and we can still have all of our money!”
Charlotte glared at her little brother; this was not the time!
“ Okay then, the price is 59,000 Egyptian pounds,” The warden said, and her heart sank to her stomach.
That was around 1,000 British pounds…she didn’t have that kind of money on her!
“ H-How about 11,000?” She offered hesitantly, and the warden scoffed at her.
“ Absolutely not,” He refused with a shake of his head. Charlotte could feel the man’s serious gaze on her, so she looked out towards him in the arena nervously.
“ Mind hurrying it up, Prickly Princess? I can feel Anubis starting to breathe down my neck down here!” The man shouted, and her nervousness quickly dissipated and was replaced by annoyance.
She almost had half a mind to let them kill him just to teach him a lesson.
“ 17,000?” Charlotte offered, and the warden shook his head again.
“ Hang him!” The warden instructed and she immediately jumped up.
“ No!”
“ Shit.” The man muttered under his breath as the floor disappeared underneath his feet, and he dropped through the hole in the floor.
Charlotte watched anxiously as the man began to struggle. She needed to hurry! She turned back to the warden.
“ Fine; 35,000!” The warden tilted his head.
“ 53,000,” He countered, but she shook her head.
“ 48,000!”
“ Alright, 41,000!” The warden offered, and she blinked in surprise before quickly grabbing his hand and shaking it.
“ Deal!” She happily announced, and the warden stared at her in shock for a moment before he realized what had happened.
His offer was lower than hers! He groaned loudly before turning to the arena.
“ Cut him loose!”
The guards cut the man loose and he fell onto the ground with a thud, and he coughed and gasped for air before looking up at her with a big grin.
Wait, a grin? Why was he grinning at her?
“ Thanks for the save, Prickly Princess, I would’ve been a goner if you didn’t save me!” The man shouted as he gave her a thumbs up.
Charlotte felt her cheeks heat up; how could this man be so infuriating one minute, and heart fluttering the next? She quickly shook her head, now was not the time for those kinds of thoughts!
As she handed the warden the money she realized something.
“ What is his name?” She asked the warden curiously, and he frowned.
“ Who? The prisoner’s?” Charlotte nodded. “ Hmm, I think they said his name was ‘Yami’ something? I’m not too sure, all I know is that he’s a Japanese national.”
The warden took his money and walked away, leaving Charlotte and Luck standing there in the observation area.
“ This is going to be such a cool adventure!” Luck said excitedly as he watched the guards drag Yami away.
Charlotte sighed. ‘Cool’ wasn’t the word she would have chosen to describe their adventure; in fact, the word she would have chosen would have been ‘interesting’.
Especially if the mysterious man called Yami, who both infuriated her and made her heart flutter, joined them.
Details about Lux!
Above is my fic about Lux!
Lux was originally a magic item hidden away in a dungeon. It was rumored that this item held a great and dangerous power left behind by an ancient civilization.
When Magna and Luck first come across Lux, the magic item causes an explosion upon being touched and in its place is a white bright glowing orb.
This was Lux's original form, but they would eventually take the form of a human child with traits similar to the most important adults in his life who Lux sees as their parents - Magna and Luck.
Inspiration for Lux came from Fushi from To Your Eternity. Lux is nonbinary and often goes by they/them pronouns, although I have been thinking of them possibly being okay with she/her and he/him pronouns as well.
Lux is essentially a being created from mana and has a vast amount of power for this reason (although later they learn this power is not limitless like they initially think.) Lux's main magic when they are young is explosions of light similar to fireworks. At a certain age, Lux discovers they can change their form at will, although this takes a substantial amount of mana. Once they're able to control their powers efficiently, they can also create small mana creatures from themselves (think Vanitas Kingdom Hearts)
This is Lux's design (the square marks on their cheek is like a birthmark and is always present even when they change forms)
Tumblr media
The glasses are from their Dad Magna and the necklace is a magic item their other Dad Luck gifted them.
Here's art I've done of Lux with their parents.
I'll also post some screenshots of tweets about Lux.
Chapter 1 – Frustrated Spring
♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣
Lavender just couldn’t understand why Lord Rosecliff still looked at her like this. Yes, he had been harsh, but she had been the same towards him, if not even more. She truly regretted telling him back then that his pain and perspective didn’t matter. She had refused to understand that day.
Now she did.
And yet, lord Rosecliff still didn’t glance at Lavender with hatred. She didn’t understood. He should, after what happened. Lady Undina was just waiting for an occasion to talk her down and to put herself up into his esteem. It was the perfect opportunity for lord Rosecliff to pay back.
But nothing like this was happening. Lavender didn’t dare to look into his eyes, even though it was difficult to do so usually, given this unique turquoise colour of his orbs. She was afraid of what she could see in it, since it wouldn’t be any disgust or disliking towards her. But she could still feel his glance upon her, kinder than she would have ever expected. Why was kindness more unbearable than disgust?
“That is because Finnegan came to understand YOUR perspective, Lavender cutie. And he was never interested in that bitch Undina in the first place. Even less so after he found out that she knew about what that jerk Ignacio wanted to do to you. Oh right, you don’t know that yet, it’s not yet revealed in the story from your point of view.”
Vanessa swallowed the last bits of her apple as she continued her reading. She would have loved to lie down on her bed instead of sitting, but sadly her cat Rouge has decided to take a nap on her lap.
And when Rouge was napping, it was always very long. Not to mention that he hated to be moved while he was snoozing. End of story, she was stuck in this position for a while. At least, she had some books to read. One of the rare classics she loved, Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen and her other current favourite literature, Roses & Lavender by that mysterious writer N. A. Steel, whom people only know the name. Well, whoever that was, he or she wrote amazing novels since a few years and Vanessa practically own almost each one of the books of this author.
There was also two books recommended by roommate, different genres than what Vanessa was usually reading. Apparently to force her a bit out of her reading comfort zone, but she had yet to give herself a grip and start trying them.
The first one was a spooky fantasy novel, Pure Within The Mirror by Nero Bird. Vanessa usually didn’t liked spooky stuff that much, but Dorothy always said that this author was great and there was no reason so far to doubt her.
The second book was from the romantasy genre, which might be more to Vanessas romantic taste. Emerald Snow by Nymphea Silber, a writer who had been extremely successful years ago according again to Dorothy, but who hasn’t written since over a decade.
Vanessa snickered. Nymphea Silber, N. A. Steel and Nero Bird. If those three had something in common, except having names starting with N, it was also that except their names and their books, no one knew anything about them.
The Three Word Mysteries of Clover, as they were called. But it was still speculated if anyone of them was really from the city of Clover. Sure, their books all where from Clover Editions, but those authors could also be from another city, like Diamond, Spade or Heart, maybe even from a small village. And why not from Raque, their countries own film industry and sea holiday town?
Dorothy loved to speculate about it a lot when she wasn’t busy being sleepy, but Vanessa wasn’t that interested. N. A. Steel was one of her favourite authors, on par with Jane Austen in her books when it comes to romance, and maybe she might try the other two novelist as well.
Caressing a purring Rouge, Vanessa continued her reading.
“Lady Lavender,” lord Rosecliff suddenly spoke. Lavender flinched at how gentle his voice sounded. How could she ever have thought that he was cold?
“Vanessa?”
“Meow!”
Vanessa flinched as she looked up, but thank goodness it was only Dorothy who appeared at her doorframe. Who else would it ever be, no one else was living with them.
Dorothy must have done some groceries, given the full bags she had with her. There must have been some catnips in, because Rouge immediately woke up, freed Vanessas lap and started to go around the bags while meowing.
“Yes, you little rascal, there is also some goody goodies for you. I didn’t expect to see you here, Nessa. Didn’t you have a date today?”
“Not anymore.”
“Oh. Did you got dumped again?”
“It was obviously his attention, but I dumped him first. Which upset him a lot, apparently I insulted his pride or something stupid like that. Gosh, why did I even tried with that jerk? And he even had the audacity to claim that I’m not pretty enough for him to try… you know what. Kicked him in the balls for that.”
“He probably deserved it. But what I don’t understand is why you are still trying to find a boyfriend when you only complain about your dates. Blind dates definitely don’t work with you, maybe you should stop?”
This was true and Vanessa also know that Dorothy might at least suspect her reason already. They were both coming from the same town, after all…
But Vanessa didn’t want to talk about that. It was behind her once and for all (she hoped), she lived now in Clover, had a roof over her head, more than one hobby, two small but good jobs that still leave them enough freedom, especially one of them was also home office mostly, she had friends.
Sure, she couldn’t forget her past… But it was behind her and she didn’t need therapy. Why would anyone need therapy when their life was fine?
Still, Vanessa would love to find someone, to fell in love and truly this time. One reason was her past and this was history. One other reason was her first crush that was the closest experience to love she ever had. A lost duckling crush on which she clinged upon was her only experience with love. She had to change that. Last reason was her romantic joyful side that still was longing.
It would have sounded like therapy might help… No, Vanessa didn’t need therapy. And she couldn’t let Dorothy suspect anything.
Vanessa sighed dramatically as she fell back on her bed, holding her two current favorite books in front of her as if they were some most important evidences during a trial.
“I can’t help it, Dotty! Jane Austen and N. A. Steel have put the level of being a wonderful man onto such a high level that I automatically have too much expectations for any potential boyfriend! But the only thing I get at best are jerks, not Darcys, colonel Brandons or Rosecliffs!”
Dorothy giggled, which could either mean that she was amused or kinda frustrated. “You do have a romantic soul, Nessa.”
“Yeah, maybe that’s the reason why I can’t get a proper boyfriend. But I don’t want to date a macho anymore! Why are gentlemen so out of fashion today? Maybe I was born in the wrong time period.”
“Aren’t you a bit overdramatic?”
“Maybe? I don’t know. I knew I shouldn’t have started to drink less wine.”
It didn’t sound like an easygoing joke and Vanessa knew that this wasn’t normal for her.
Dorothy as well, since she was now looking at her almost frowning, a vague worried glance in her bi-colored eyes. Sometimes Vanessa had the feeling that Dorothy was able to know people even through sleep and dreams.
Time to change the subject quickly.
“I promise I will read those two books you recommended me. But I had to read Roses & Lavender again. I love this story so much! N. A. Steel is just an amazing writer and so good at history stuff. Even when he or she invent a country for a novel, it is so believable! Especially the novels about the witch hunt period, fantastic!”
“Ha, of course witch hunting period is appealing for the two of us, right? Now, coming back to your romantic live-“
“I don’t need therapy!”
“I wasn’t going to tell you that?”
Probably not, but Vanessa acted more upon instinct than anything. Dorothy shook her head before she sat down on Vanessas bed, letting Rouge turning around the grocery bags with purrs and meows.
“I know you love romance, Nessa and you’re always so supportive of helping others with their love lives. But I have the feeling that you’re not really put your heart into it when it comes to your own.”
“How can you be so sure of that? You were never interested in dating, as far as I know.”
“Have you noticed that many of the guys you tried dating are merely pale copies of Yami and that only on a superficial level?”
“Damn, it’s that obvious? Finral said something similar as well.”
“Of course, he did. You should listen to your best friend, Nessa. It is only obvious to people who know you well and only if observant. Plus, like I said, those were pale copies only, so I didn’t connect the dots immediately. But the fact is, buff and rough, some even smoking, it is a vague description of Yami. Weren’t you over him?”
“I moved on from him, really… But I can’t forget my huge crush on him. You know the reasons. Shouldn’t he be my type somehow?”
“Don’t get yourself blinded by types, most of the time they’re never what we believe they are. I don’t why you focus still on guys that are only very vaguely like Yami, but maybe you will have more luck with men if you start thinking outside the box a bit? After all, you love the gentlemen in your books. Why not trying that for reality as well?”
Vanessa frowned a bit. What Dorothy said make sense, but somehow, she still wasn’t really convinced by it. Or didn’t she want to be?
She couldn’t continue to wonder about her rather unusual thoughts, as Dorothy continued, “This can also mean that you don’t need to search for a boyfriend if you don’t want to, you know. All I ask you to is to take a different approach. Maybe you don’t understand yet yourself what you want.”
“You know I’m wary of changes and I think I know at least a bit what I want.”
“Aw, your so cute when you are pouting. But come on, you are always so daring and proud, I am sure that you will overcome your current romantic frustration.”
“Romantic frustration,” Vanessa couldn’t help but snicker. Dorothy had sometimes the weirdest description of things.
“Come on, how else would describe your current state, you silly- No, Rouge, this fish is not for you, come back here!”
While Dorothy run out of the bedroom after the cat, Vanessa lied down again and watched at the ceiling without really seeing it. Dorothys words might have triggered something in her, but it was too sudden for Vanessa to take it seriously yet or not.
Should she really think outside the box? Pragmatically speaking, it shouldn’t be such a bad idea, given that every guy she tried to date ended up being an asshole, sadly proving her mother’s point about men-
No, stop! This time was behind her and Vanessa refused to ever think about it ever again! Even though maybe it was one of the reasons why…
“Stop!”
Vanessa looked out of the window, where a few pigeons were flying by. The spring sun was shining through the glass, giving her patchwork curtains a bright touch. She liked the view she had from her bedroom, it was right in front of the Clover Parc, one of the most beautiful parcs in the world, with the trees and the flowers and the paths. Sometimes, Vanessa could even see the romantic belvedere from afar.
Not that she ever got something romantic at the belvedere, even though it would be so great. Gosh, it was spring, the season of love and if Dorothy was right, she had a romantic frustration. What a time, really.
Well, spring holidays was almost over and the school where she worked as a helping nurse (although not a nurse in the classical way, so the term was maybe not fitting) would be open again and maybe it would help her to distract herself from that frustration or help her having clearer thoughts about her stupid situation.
She wondered if the teachers and students, plus others, were doing fine. She had seen some of them in the city during the holidays. The trouble trio Asta, Magna Swing and Luck Voltia have caused some problems in the parc just two days ago, when she got for a walk with Rouge, but Vanessa knew them, they never mean any harm. Okay, you could never be so sure about Luck, though.
Others had been away. Mimosa Vermillion had told her that she would be in Switzerland during the holidays, with her parents and her older brother. And her cousin Noelle Silva went to her family’s secondary villa with her oldest brother.
Hopefully it had been alright for the poor girl. Vanessa had quite some sympathy for her. She was able to recognize when a household wasn’t doing fine, due to her own experience. Family Silva didn’t seem like it was a loving family. Vanessa might not know the signs and she hadn’t met Noelles brother yet. But she knew the signs and she did hear that he was more like a cold man. But she also knew that Noelles brother went to school with Dorothy and Yami. Could she judge him without meeting him?
Vanessa still didn’t like him. Or at least, given the Silva household, she wasn’t sure yet if she could like him.
But little Noelle seemed to have some strong affection for him and according to Mimosa, he cared deeply for his little sister.
It didn’t explain why the Silva family wasn’t working well, but this at least spoke in his favor. Vanessa just hoped that it was true affection between Noelle and her brother, not something that was abusive.
Well, Vanessa dared still to assume that Noelles brother wasn’t into romance. He was a rich man and if Vanessa knew something about rich people in Clover, it was that they don’t believe in love.
Why would he be different?
At the same time, why would he be the same?
Well, one thing for sure, Vanessa would never try to date a rich guy. But this sudden thought surprised her still.
♣♣♣
Noelle took a huge bite from her salami sandwich. It was so good, the servants of the secondary residence even roasted the bread a bit and were generous with the butter. It was almost as good as Charmys sandwiches. And way better than those thin wannabe sandwiches they got in most train stations.
At least, from what Noelle knew about those wannabe sandwiches. She never tasted them before and the only one who always talked or rather complained about those was Magna. Given her classmate’s tendency to hyperbole when he was complaining about something, Noelle didn’t if she could always believe him.
She wondered what Asta had to say about…
STOP!
Now she was thinking about that idiot again, while she managed to have banned him from her mind during the integrity of the spring holidays! More or less, but this was a detail. And to be fair, her brother and her were currently on their way home to Clover, so she will see that idiot again soon.
It was the end of the spring holidays, school will start again like tomorrow and her brother needed to return to work as well. Okay, needed was a strong word, since they were Silvas and one of the three richest family in the city who descended from nobility. According to Nebra – and she tended to overreact – Silvas didn’t need to work.
But Nozel took his job seriously, unlike many rich people in Clover. Too serious some would say, since he didn’t allow himself many holidays, just a day off here and there at best. The fact that Nozel proposed to her to spend the spring holidays, just the two of them for two weeks, at the secondary residence of the Silvas, had been a huge surprise for Noelle. But at the same time, it made her really happy.
Not only was it an opportunity to avoid Asta during the holidays after… that happened, but spending two whole weeks alone with Nozel was always more than welcome. He was the only one she was close to within her family.
Noelle looked at her brother, sitting on the other side of the picnic table between the birches, eating his own sandwich and a small salad, reading a book absently. There was often silence between them, but Noelle didn’t mind. Over the years, this kind of silence became very agreeable and even understanding. Okay, sometimes she was still not sure how to act around Nozel, but it was the same for him around her and they were never stopping trying. At least, it was clear to both that they truly care for each other and even though Nozel could seem cold and distant for other people – which he was for anyone outside of the family and closest people – Noelle loved her oldest brother a lot.
She sighed silently. Oh, those two weeks with Nozel were great, but she was also happy to come back home. She missed the city of Clover, she missed her school – okay, not everything – she missed her classmates and friends, even Asta and Mimosa… somehow, she missed a lot of people and she missed the family cats. At least, those two who remained in Clover, only Canelle came with them on the trip.
But her family… Maybe Noelle missed them a bit, but mixed feelings were a norm in this case. She was never close to her sister Nebra – Vanessa sometimes felt more like an older sister than her own sister – even though they didn’t hate each other. It was just… distant in a strange familiarity. It had been worse in her childhood, but that changed. At least, Nebra was never like Solid.
Noelle never got along with her brother Solid, which made her sad, but given their childhood and how mad Nozel had been after that incident when she was five, it was probably for the best. Maybe one day, they could get along… but Solid was too much of a jerk.
Still, Solid was better than their father and the less Noelle met that man, the better. She didn’t know yet what exactly broke their family apart when she was still a baby. Noelle wasn’t close enough to Nebra and Solid to ask them, as for Nozel… he never show anything, but there were always tears shining in his eyes when it was mentioned and Noelle didn’t want her brother to suffer. Whatever happened, it had shattered him. So, Noelle might be wondering, but she would never ask. Their family was already unstable enough and she didn’t want to be distant with her older brother.
But fact is, their father was not someone she missed and even though Noelle didn’t know everything, it was clear that this man should be better out of their lives completely. If only this could be the case… Maybe Nebra and Solid would have been real siblings during her childhood?
And then… there was mother. That far away person who was a stranger to Noelle. That picture that was like a reflection of her own appearance, but it was someone else. A person Noelle missed, but felt unsure what exactly to feel towards. She sometimes visited their mother at the clinic, but never alone, always with her siblings or her Vermillion aunt and it was always a stranger who didn’t seem to recognize them. Never a mother, shattered, still beautiful but shattered.
Out of her siblings, only Nozel visited mother often. He was the one who still talked to her, softer than even with Noelle, who always brushed mothers hair, who didn’t see a stranger. Sometimes, Noelle thought that it didn’t do Nozel any good to visit their mother, she often heard him cry silently in his bedroom after each visit and she had no idea how to comfort him. It was always heartbreaking to see her strong, proud and strict older brother like this. But at least, he visited her… unlike their father.
So, Noelle couldn’t tell if she missed anyone truly within her closest family. In the Silva household, it was the other two cats she missed the most. Especially Leviathan, who had been Nozels gift on her last birthday in November. A beautiful long-haired Nebelung with kind of an attitude like a stormy sea, but so affectionate. Silvas usually weren’t liked by animals, it was actually a miracle that three cats came to love them.
And maybe Noelle also missed Rosette a bit, Solids fiancée.
It was an arranged betrothal, like how it was still the norm for rich people. Noelle couldn’t understand that, it was the 21st century and even the middle ages weren’t that strict on marital topics like the rich society of Clover. She didn’t know how it happened, given the fights Nozel had with father about it, it had been certainly complicated, somehow things happened and end of story, the betrothed moved into the Silva household.
But Rosette Vitrail was not at all an arrogant bitch like Noelle feared at first. On the contrary, she was kind and polite to everyone, even to Solid, loved the three cats who loved her back, respected the servants, she never tried to slime in and at first it was almost like she was invisible. Noelle assumed that Rosette didn’t choose the situation either and decided to make the best out of it. Even though her fiancé was Solid. And she never felt that unhappy to have left her family already.
Maybe she came from a broken household too? Not a good change to live now in another one, but Rosette didn’t seem to mind. But she was still a bit a mystery, she just moved in just one month ago.
But Noelle liked Rosette at least a bit. She didn’t had a distant, proud and almost sad glance like Nebra or the jerk attitude of Solids. And certainly not the superior, arrogant and disgusted glare of their father.
“Are you alright, Noelle?”
Noelle flinched slightly. Like always when Nozel talked to her out of the blue. How much she would love to get rid of this habit. After all, it was her dear older brother talking, not Nebra or Solid. Or worse, father.
“I’m fine, brother. Just been thinking.”
“Are you happy to come home?”
“I admit that I am. Oh, those two weeks together were great, but I miss my friends still and school… And Waterlily and Leviathan too. But I don’t think that Canelle would like to see them again.”
“Meow!”
It sounded like a protest. Noelle watched happily how Nozels lips went slightly up and she couldn’t help but smile as she turned towards the cat lying next to her. Canelle glared at her with her yellow eyes, like offended by the statement.
Canelle was looking so adorable with her heart-shaped head, her cinnamon brown fur, the white paws and belly, her big eyes and her rather tiny frame. But Noelle was sure that there was no cat with a personality like Canelle. She was the boss in their house, not only over the other cats, but in a way also of them. A few months ago, she had been quite sick and needed to rest. Instead of remaining in the cat chamber, she claimed Nebras bedroom all for herself and end of the story was that Nebra had to move into one of the guest rooms for two weeks until Canelle was better. One of the few rare times in their family were there had been some genuine laughs.
Canelle was not a cat of breed and this was already strange for a strict rich family like them. If any strict rich Clover family had animals, then of breed, please. The other cats of the Silvas were a Nebelung and a Ragdoll. But Noelle was glad that they got Canelle and even Nebra and Solid didn’t care that one of their pets wasn’t of a breed.
It was Solid who brought Canelle home and not even on purpose. This cat had been just a kitten when they got her, living on the streets and on one rainy day, she followed Solid for some reason, so close that she get into the villa the same time as him. And just decided to stay. After some time, Nozel finally decided that they should keep her, since she was determined to stay.
Given the colour of her fur, they named her Canelle, the french word for cinnamon. Noelles choice, as she was rather proud of her skills in that language.
Petting her head, Noelle remembered how Asta had been so excited when she told him about Canelle for the first time. He adored cats and his own, Liebe…
No, stop! Hadn’t she decided to not think about that idiot until they see each other again in school? And even there, if she could ignore him, but it was impossible, they were in the same class and just before the holidays, he had a date with Mimosa, her own cousin! This is what she got for crushing on a dense idiot and being in denial. Someone else got him and Asta couldn’t stop friendzone her and he didn’t even know he did!
Whoever said that friendzone wasn’t that bad was wrong. It was so damn worse than being hated! At least in Noelles books.
She heard that Mimosa went with her brother and her mother to Raque during the holidays. And she certainly invited Asta too. The mere thought of them cuddling at the beach… Or having fun in the sea…
Noelle sighed again. She hated feeling jealous. Mimosa was way too kind to be mad at, Asta was stupid but nicer than anyone she knew. Noelle couldn’t hate any of them and she wanted to be happy for them. After all, Asta didn’t belonged to her, he was free to choose who he would date and Mimosa was never mean to him, unlike Noelle.
But it was still a pain.
“Noelle?”
“Oh, sorry, brother. Did you say something?”
“No, but you seem thoughtful. Is something bothering you?”
Noelle bit her lips. Nozel might be the one of her family she was the closest to, but it was still difficult for the two of them to open to each other. Like any Silva, they had their own issues to deal with. It had been like this since she was a baby.
Oh, Noelle would love to tell Nozel about her love problems. But she didn’t know if he could be of any help or comfort, nor if he would be happy that she was crushing on someone out of their circles. Nozel still had a lot of pride, after all.
But he was still her brother and until she met Vanessa or Nero again, or waiting for Kahono to be back from her tour in Switzerland, Noelle had only Nozel to at least confide in a bit. Just a bit, she was a Silva after all.
Not something to be proud of, at least Noelle sometimes felt that way.
“I had… well, I had a difference with one of my classmates. Nothing important, though.”
Not quite the truth, not quite a lie. This should be enough.
“Did that classmate of yours insulted you? Shall I have a talk with that person?”
“No, no need to. But thank you still, brother. We didn’t had a fight and he probably… doesn’t remember our difference or haven’t even realized it. But I needed some distance and your proposition was a perfect opportunity for that. I will… see how it goes once school starts again.”
“If you don’t want to go to public school anymore, you can just tell me, I will arrange that.”
“I know, but there is no need. I still like my school and I’m happy that I can to go to the same school like you did. And Nebra and Solid.”
“It had been mother’s wish that we go to the public school and not a private one.”
“And it was probably a good idea. I have friends at least and there is Mimosa too. I want to finish school with them.”
“I’m glad that you have friends, Noelle.”
There was a tone in his voice that was almost sad. As if he wanted to say more or something else. Noelle always wondered if Nozel was lonely. Sure, he had friends, like Fuegoleon Vermillion or Vanessas roommate, Dorothy Unsworth. Such a small world. But still, even with friends, he could seem lonely.
And Noelle was worried for her big brother. She just had no idea how to help him. She was just a teenager, how could she help a full-grown adult?
There was not a lot she could do.
“Have you finished the last corrections on your manuscript?”
“Yes, I’ve sent it to Mr. Novachrono already. If everything goes like usual, it shall come to the market next month.”
“I’m looking forward to it, you write so well,” Noelle smiled and felt some relief when Nozel smiled back at her.
She was the only one in the family to know that secret of Nozel. She found it out some time ago and since then, it was more than just a secret between them, it was something like they were a bit like accomplices and Noelle loved that feeling.
Not to mention that she might be Nozels biggest fan and even though he never said it, her support meant a lot to him. She saw it in his eyes every time she talked about his works and what she loved the most.
Sometimes she wanted to share it with her friends, but this was not her secret to reveal. And it felt good to know something they didn’t, especially Astas arrogant best friend Yuno who was such a genius in everything.
And now she thought about Asta again, just like that. Why couldn’t she just stop? Why was Asta everywhere? She almost hated him for putting her in such a pathetic state, but then again, it wasn’t his fault and he didn’t know.
But Noelle still wanted to be mad at him, on principle. At least a bit.
“Meow!”
Canelle suddenly stood up and hoped down the bench, patting her cat bag and looking at them with some impatience. Which meant in her eyes, it was time to continue to return home. And she would pester Noelle and Nozel until they got their things together.
“Seems that we have to finish our meal,” Nozel said as he stood up as well and put the rest of their picnic back in the bag.
Noelle sighed deeply as she looked at the two chocolate-banana muffins. They looked so delicious and creamy, the old cook back at the secondary residence backed them at dawn especially for them.
“We can still eat the muffins on the way.”
Noelle beamed. Nozel must have seen her ogling very obviously on those muffins and since he was a sweettooth too… Noelle grabbed the muffins plus the cat bag and followed her brother who carried the picnic bag, while Canelle was already at the car, waiting for them with a grumpy look. She certainly almost had a Silva personality, but at least she didn’t act like a spoiled princess like Waterlily or like a stormy sea like Leviathan.
When they reached Nozels silver Porsche, Noelle immediately opened one of the doors so that Canelle could just jump in and into her cat bag once Noelle put it on the back seat. Then she entered the car herself, sitting at the front next to Nozel who just started the car.
Well, time to go home. With a bit of mixed feelings still, but Noelle was grateful that she had still more things to look forward to back in Clover. Even though Asta was currently not fitting into one of the two categories.
Stop, Noelle!  Stop thinking about this idiot!
The siblings were silent when they left the picnic area and went back on the road. Even Canelle was silent, but maybe she fell asleep. That cat was always calm in the car, unless she had to be brought to the veterinary. Then the meowing would never stop and she would refuse any petting.
“Did you make nice photos during our vacation?” Nozel suddenly asked once they were back on the road.
Noelle smiled. As subtle as it might was, she was so happy that her brother supported her with her hobby.
“I think so, I’ll work on them once we get home. Thank you for helping taking pictures of myself too. Some of the servants also helped to-“
Noelle bit her lips. Maybe she shouldn’t have mentioned that. Nozel was never keen on befriending the servants back in Clover, it certainly also count for the once at their second villa. Noelle didn’t really understood why they couldn’t befriend servants, but she still hoped that it won’t destroy the fragile bond she had with her brother.
But to her biggest surprise, Nozel didn’t scold her. He just nodded and sighed, almost more to himself than to her, “It is wonderful that they helped. Those servants were always loyal to mother.”
Noelle flinched, like always when mother was mentioned. She still was curious, why would Nozel made an exception for the servants working at the secondary Silva residence? But she wouldn’t ask, mother was never a happy subject.
Nozel seemed a bit sad, so Noelle handed him one of the chocolate-banana muffins. Her brother smiled as he accepted it. Noelle relaxed at the sight and bit in her own. It was actually good to go home.
If only Asta…
And shit, now she was thinking about Asta again! Noelle was really fed up with those stupid thought. Okay, maybe she would stop if she would finally start to actively move on from her crush for him.
After all, it was just a teenage crush, nothing she would regret in a few days.
Right?
♣♣♣
Charlotte opened the door to her appartement, she could hear a lot of yells and screams and laughs from the living room.
This could only mean that Luck invited some friends to play some video-games. Probably Magna and Asta, given how loud it was.
Hopefully they wouldn’t end up destroying the TV or anything else. Not that many of these things were irreplaceable, of course not. But Charlotte preferred to not put this kind of finances on her budget.
“HAHAHA! I got you Magna! Now fight me!”
“No, I’m not fighting you, stopping attacking me with the controller! And no, you didn’t got me! You just cheated!”
“How can anyone cheat at a videogame? Oh no, Magna watch out, your ship is going towards a rock!”
“UAAH! Phew, thanks Asta. Ah, shit, you two are already this far ahead of me! Oh hell no, I’m not going to lose!”
Charlotte took a look in the living room. Ah, yes, Luck and his two friends were indeed gaming. Sails of Waves, a newer game a bit like Mario Karts, but with ships instead and a setting that was a mix of Pirates of the Caribbean, One Piece and corsairs & pirates of the 17th and 18th century.
Thankfully this was a rather harmless game, in comparison. Charlotte knew the creator very well, she went to school with him and Jack had a habit of being very bloody and scary in the games he created.
To think that he also opened a toy shop & atelier years ago…
Charlotte sighed and shook her head. She just came home from her tearoom and given how some of her girls were either on vacation or sick – stupid spring cold, really – they only had been three to be here for the customers.
And Sunday was one of the best days for the Blue Rose tearoom. So she was exhausted and since she forgot to buy bread and milk on her weekly grocery shopping, Charlotte had to go to the only shop open on Sunday in Clover, the small supermarket at the train station, on the opposite of her appartement.
But she could live with that. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time something like that happened. But she had to meet Yami today on her way home.
Yami…
Charlotte had a deep sigh as she put the milk in the fridge and the bread into the bread box. Goodness, why was she unable to spend even one day without thinking about him? One hour would already be a record.
Just one hour without feeling the heavy love that hasn’t left her for like a decade. Ten years living with that! Others were well able to move on from a one-sided love and crush more than once in such a period of time, then why was she unable to?
If her life would have been a fantasy story, maybe she would have been curse and falling in love with Yami would have lifted it. It was ridiculous, but it often felt that way for Charlotte. Maybe she read too much of Nymphea Silber’s romantasy novels in her youth. Rather pathetic for a grown adult woman, wasn’t it?
Yami…
Why was she still so worked up about that stupid crush after ten years in the first place? It wasn’t like the rest of her life was hell in any way. She was independent from her family and their stupid business, not to mention she cut most ties with the Roseleis, her tearoom and little fencing school worked amazingly, she had a nice and big appartement, fought for and won her younger half-brothers custody… her life was pretty good so far.
If she could finally get a grip about that stupid crush, it would be perfect.
But how? By moving on? By daring to ask him out directly? By deciding if it was just a crush or something more?
Always those questions and Charlotte was unable to find a proper answer. She was really pathetic, wasn’t she.
Why did had to be him? And why did she not wanted to be anyone else than him?
Maybe this was the never ending hurdle of being in love with terribly dense man. Oh yes, Yami was dense, terribly dense, so dense that despite his claims to be good at reading people, he was unable to tell if someone was in love with him.
Oh, it was easy to put all the blame on him. But Charlotte was well aware and smart enough to know that she wasn’t innocent either. How many times had she been rude to Yami to hide her feelings? How many times had she – often with reasons – been frustrated by his carefree behavior in everything? And made him know? How many times had she told him that work was her only partner?
Yes, she was quite to blame as well for her frustrated romantic situation. Would it have been sorted out much earlier if Yami wasn’t dense and less carefree? But would she be in love with him if he was any different?
Love was complicated and like hope, not rational at all.
“Meow!”
Charlotte looked up and saw Briar on the table, looking at her with some impatience within her beautiful green eyes. Briar was one the three cats Charlotte and Luck had, a beautiful tortoiseshell cat with a black and orange fur.
“Hello, Briar. I know that it is time for your dinner, but I think we had agreed that you shouldn’t jump on the kitchen table.”
Briar seemed to pout, but still jumped of the table, sitting down in front of her bowl and waited. Charlotte smiled as she took Briars favourite food, a mash with chicken flavour. Seems that someone was really hungry.
And of course, as soon as Briar started to eat, Lightning appeared suddenly in the kitchen. She was also a tortoiseshell cat, but unlike Briar, the eyes were amber and the fur was black, grey and white.
“Okay, okay. I will give you your dinner as well. Dry food with fish for you, right?”
Lightning meowed happily, while hoping up and down. She was almost as excited as Luck. After giving Lightning her food, Charlotte left the kitchen to join the boys in the living room. It felt good to feed the cats, they were always distracting her from her unresolved romantic frustration with Yami.
And now, she thought about him again. Why was it so easy to think about him and so difficult to stop?
Charlotte sometimes wondered if she really had puberty completely behind her.
When she entered the living room, the boys were still playing their video game. Given the image on the TV, they were currently on the storm level of the game. Luck and Magna were even jumping. Asta might have done it as well, if it weren’t for the long-haired grey cat napping on his lap.
Ah, there was their third cat. Charlotte and Luck did receive Queen as a kitten roughly six months ago, from a great-aunt who spent most of their time traveling the world and who didn’t cared that Charlotte cut ties with most of the Roseleis or that Luck was an illegitimate child, born out of an affair.
Queen was the only breed cat they had, a beautiful Russian Blue with the characteristic blue-grey fur and green eyes, and very affectionate. Asta seemed to love her too, as he sometimes put his controller aside to pet Queen a bit, even though his own ship lost some speed. Yes, he was a kind boy and Charlotte was glad that Luck was friends with him.
She didn’t had quite the same feeling about Magna, though, he and Luck were always fighting a lot, plus Magna was kind of almost a delinquent and even more or less proud of it. Not something Charlotte appreciated. But at the same time, it was mostly Luck who provoked Magna, not the other way around and this boy still had his heart at the right place. And Yami trusted him.
Yami again… She just couldn’t stop thinking about him. Maybe was it because of spring? This season was always considered the lovers season in Clover. Great, now she started to believe those stupid traditions of people.
She needed another distraction, right now.
“Hello, boys.”
“Bis Sis, you’re back!!!”
“Luck don’t jump on me, you little fucker… Oh shoot, hi, erm, I mean, hello Mrs, no, Miss Roselei! I wasn’t insulting your brother, I swear!”
“Hello, madam Charlotte, sir!”
Charlotte almost laughed as Asta somehow tried to salute. With the controller in his hands and Queen on his lap. She couldn’t blame him, she probably appeared like some kind of strict military officer when Luck brought him home for the first time. Which she was probably still a bit for him.
“Did you have fun playing Sails of Waves?”
“Yes, madam Charlotte, sir, I mean-“
“Asta, please, just Charlotte for you. How many times shall I tell you that?”
“But that wouldn’t be polite, madam Charlotte, sir… Oh no, I shouldn’t say sir to you, I apologize!”
“Don’t scream like that, Asta, you’re scaring the kitty!”
Magna said while yelling himself. But Queen was a calm cat, she just yawned before turning around and continuing to nap.
“How was your day at the tearoom, Big Sis?”
“Rather exhausting. It’s Sunday, not to mention spring holidays, so we had a lot to do at the tearoom. Especially since most of the girls were either sick or on vacation today. We were only three, let’s hope there will be more next week.”
Charlotte really hoped that, because one of the most productive seasons will just get started for her tearoom and the Blue Rose couldn’t be with just three waitresses every day during that season.
Not to mention that it was also a season were a lot of couples, from teenagers to old people, to have dates at the tearoom, which wouldn’t help Charlottes current mental state of romantic frustration concerning Yami and…
And she did it again. What has she ever done in some potential previous life to deserve this?
“Hey, Big Sis, if you want I can help you out sometimes!”
“Only if you promise to not attack costumers out of the blue. Remember what happened last time? If you want to help me, please behave?”
“Not even a little kick between the legs?”
“No.”
“Ah, but okay.”
“Maybe we could help you too!” Asta said with a big kind grin. “I never worked in a tearoom, but sister Lily always said that the more experience I have, the more I can go far in life after school!”
“I’m not that much into tearooms, but if you need manly help, maybe I can jump in?” Magna added, forgetting the game for a moment and not noticing that his boat was trapped into a maelstrom. “I’m helping out three times a week at the Black Bulls Motorcycle Garage, but I’m sure captain Yami will agree that I help one of his old classmates. After all, captain Yami is great!”
“Oh, you work with Yami? And you call him captain?”
“Yeah, it sounds manly! Oh crap, what is happening to my boat?”
While Magna tried to save his ship under Lucks laughs and Astas encouragement, Charlotte took a deep breath. Oh yes, Yami did mention that sometimes students were helping him out at his garage. He did this to help young people and give them a chance, as he said and this was one of the side she admired about him.
If only… If only…
Yami won’t leave her thoughts, wouldn’t he? Even if she hadn’t met him to day after doing her groceries, he would always haunt her mind. Gosh, their meeting today hadn’t even been long, he just teased her and she fled, like always.
This couldn’t continue like this! But at the same time, Charlotte had no idea how to change her whole romantic mess of the mind. Maybe she needed therapy? No, it couldn’t be that desperate. But nothing else came to her mind.
Well, then she needed to try distracting herself again, even though it never worked really. But what other option does she have?
“Can I play with you, boys?”
“Really, that’s so cool of you, Big Sis!”
“Here, sit next to me, madam Charlotte, sir! Oh, sorry, I said sir again!”
“We’ll show you how it works, maybe we can start all over again. That’s the neat thing with this game, it’s not a bother to start all over again. First, you need to design your own ship.”
Under the explanations of Luck and his friends, Charlotte tried to use a controller and to create her own ship. Next to Lucks Thunder Goods Boots, Magnas Crazy Cyclone and Astas Black Meteor, a new ship was now ready to sail.
Prickly Queen.
It was only when a new race started that Charlotte realized it. She gave her ship the very nickname Yami always gave her.
♣♣♣
When Lital woke up, there was a tongue licking all over her face. A tongue that didn’t belonged to her boyfriend, but to a flame red stripped cat.
“Hello, Salamander. What’s the big idea to wake me up in the middle of the night, you little rascal?”
The cat just meowed, before making himself comfortable on the pillow next to her. But the other side of the bed was empty.
Not that Lital could see much. First, the lights were off. Second, her bangs weren’t braided and like always when loose, it covered most of her eyes.
But Lital could feel it still. It was empty, but the sheets were still warm. Which means that he was still here. Of course he was.
“Fue, where are you?”
“Right here, my dearest.”
Pushing some of her bangs away, Lital saw Fuegoleon standing at the window, only wearing his shorts, his hair unkempt but still so softly looking. The lights of the city coming from outside barely came into the room, but it was enough for Lital to admire his muscles, the wonderful red of his hair, his proud back, his big and elegant hands, one of his arms leaning against the window frame, looking outside without really seeing the lights of Clover or the night traffic, which noises sounded like coming from far away.
Yawning, Lital stood up, took his undershirt that was lying on the carpet floor and put it on, before joining Fuegoleon, hugging him from behind. She still wasn’t quite sure on her feet and he must have felt it.
“Have I been too rough with you? Im sorry.”
“Not at all. I’m just still very tired. It is just passed midnight, after all.”
“I didn’t want to wake you up.”
“It wasn’t you, but Salamander.”
Lital heard him chuckle and it seemed like he turned his head to look at the bed.
“Salamander, how many times have I told you to not wake up my beloved in the middle of the night?”
“Meow!”
Lital and Fuegoleon just laughed softly at the protest of the cat. But sadly, it was short lived. And she knew exactly what was bothering the man she loved.
“I’m sorry that you had this fight with your grandfather today.”
“It was bound to happen and it is certainly not your fault, darling. I just wish I could have gone through him. But you know how stubborn he is. And he probably already forgot about our little fight already. Like with everything that doesn’t fit in his views.”
Well… that sounded very much like Achilles Vermillion, from what Lital heard of him.
Fuegoleon sighed. “I still care for my grandfather. But I fear it becomes more and more difficult for me to really love him. Mereoleona was right to just leave, cut ties with him and do her own thing.”
“She didn’t cut ties with a lot of the family and your grandfather is still too afraid of her to cut her out of his will.”
“Yes… I really thought that I could try to persuade him, after he was such a good mood about that contract with this rich family form Diamond. But… Augustus had to be with him today. And Nozels father. I don’t need to tell you that my rather liberal request came at a bad time. I wasn’t even direct, you know why.”
Lital couldn’t help but hug Fuegoleon even tighter. He really didn’t need to tell her. She knew exactly what this meant for them.
“We still have to be in secrecy for a while longer.”
It wasn’t a question, just a fact. Fuegoleon didn’t answered, but he still put a comforting hand on her arms.
Lital sighed deeply. She wasn’t surprised, but still terribly sad. It was just so unfair and so stupid. This was the 21stcentury, marrying out of duty, power or money should be a thing of the past since so long already.
Too bad that the majority of the rich society in Clover was somehow more strict than the middle ages about that topic.
It wasn’t her fault she was born in the slums, it wasn’t her fault that she was illegitimate. This didn’t determined who she was. But enough for many people in this town to consider her unworthy for one of the heirs of the Vermillion family, one of the three most powerful rich families in Clover.
At least, they would say that if they would knew. But Lital and Fuegoleon kept their relationship in secrecy so far. Only a handful of people knew and after ten years, their love just grew stronger and deeper.
But Lital didn’t want to be in secrecy. She wanted to be at Fuegoleons side for the rest of her life and show it to the world. She wanted to marry him, grew old with him. Simple things, but so important and yet still considered flimsy by this stupid rich society.
Fuegoleon wanted it as well. They have talked about it so much more since a few months. Their wish really wasn’t too much to ask for and yet…
Lital felt like she would start to cry. It was just so frustrating. And after today… It would have worked if Fuegoleon would have managed to convince his grandfather. But circumstances played again against them.
She was very close to not consider spring a happy and romantic season anymore.
Fuegoleon suddenly turned in her arms and cupped her face, brushing her bangs away. His beautiful purple eyes just showed the same sadness and frustration she was feeling, but there was still hope in them, this familiar resolution to not give up.
And the love he had for her.
“I’m as upset as you are, Lital. But do not give up. I certainly won’t. We haven’t come this far for nothing. We’ll continue to fail until we succeed. I love you and I won’t let one defeat take everything away.”
Lital couldn’t help but smile. This man could always feel the right words to comfort her. No wonder she fell in love with him all those years ago.
She leaned against him, savouring his presence, his strength, his determination. It was good to know that they won’t give up, that they could lean on each other each time they felt down. Lital closed her eyes.
“Fue, don’t you have sometimes the feeling that we are a couple from like a fantasy or a historical romance novel? Something like that.”
“Rather ridiculous, isn’t it? We are in the 21st century, after all.”
“It’s not us who made the situation rather ridiculous.”
“I know.”
There was silence again, more comforting this time. They just hold each other, the noise of the night traffic sounding from far away. Lital felt a bit ashamed that she felt so quickly frustrated for a moment. Almost as if it wasn’t worth it.
But it was worth it, she realized it every day again.
“Fue.”
“Hm?”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
The next moment, his lips were on hers for a short, loving kiss. A bit desperate maybe, but determined and so sweet. Just as fiery as all the passionate kisses they shared a few hours before.
When their lips parted, Fuegoleon rested his forehead against hers. “Let’s forget about our worries for tonight, my love. Tomorrow is another day.”
“Can I have cuddles before we fell asleep.”
“As you wish.”
Fuegoleon carried her up bridal style towards the bed. They cuddled and kissed a bit before falling asleep. Fuegoleon fell asleep first and Lital felt her own eyes closing quickly as well, when a thought crossed her mind before slumber took over her.
I hope no other couple will have the same difficulties we are facing right now.
Tumblr media
He is a cutie and a sweetheart and he makes your heart race and melt at the same time.
He doesn't buy flowers, he picks them himself from the forests and his missions. Yeap, don't expect beautifully wrapped bouquets, it's straight from the nature itself.
he always holds your hand intertwined with your fingers. even if you held his hands the 'wrong' way, he'll correct it and intertwined your fingers together.
"people won't be able to snatch you away that easily like this," he says
it'll be surprising but he like to cook together with you. whether it's making a simple sandwich together or baking a cake from scratch, he just likes doing something together with you and then enjoying eating it together.
Loves going to carnivals with you, he plays all the games with you and wins some solid prizes. He'll go shopping around with you too and buys you little trinklets so that you'll have a memory for your date.
If you made him anything, rest assured that he would keep it along with him and treasure it. The scarf you made? he wears it even if it's not even that cold.
The little bracelet you made? it's on his wrist 24/7.
the little flower band you made on a random date for fun? it's in his room like a prized possession. You had to throw it away while he didn't noticed, because all the flowers wilted.
He treasures every single thing and moment you both have.
He doesn't have much worries or stress, but whenever he gets a little more quiet than usual, you'd know that something's on his mind. But he'll enjoy stargazing with you and holding you in his arms.
He'll just fondle with your hair, and enjoy being in your presence.
He spoils you so much, you're his little princess and he has absolutely no shame in showing everyone that!
If charmy bakes a cupcake, he'll go "give me more! i'm bringing it for y/n!"
If you both get into an argument (which is rarely because he takes everything with a pinch of salt anyway), he'll just follow you around quietly like a lost puppy. He'll give you some puppy eyes as well if you'd even look at him.
He'll just stay quietly near you until you give in and go "come here" and in a flash (quite literally) he'll be in your arms.
Black Bulls Month 2023 Prompt 6: Missing Scene
Luck gazed at the scene before him. Captain Jack was beaten to hell. Zora remained on the sidelines. Asta stood a good foot between himself and the person the lightning mage was fixated on.
Magna Swing had returned.
Not only had he returned but he knocked out one of the most powerful adversaries that stood in the Black Bulls way. Dante was out cold behind him. Small flames still burned bright throughout the room. Magna's clothes were burned, ripped, and torn. His typically perfectly gelled hair fell apart and down his face, framing his triumphant smile.
The lightning mage took a small step forward and then stopped. What should he say? It's been over 6 months since they last spoke. With so much on the line he wasn't exactly supportive when his partner's training went south.
No, he gave him a hard time instead.
It's something that has haunted the blonde since the pair parted ways back in the Heart Kingdom. He doesn't regret the power he now holds. But the thought of their separation that day left a bitter taste in his mouth.
He tried not to dwell on it at the time. Instead focusing all his energy toward gaining more power. So that he could fight harder, longer, so he can protect the team that has become a family to him.
But he always wondered how Magna was holding up.
Now here he is. Mere feet away and the blonde just can't bring himself to move forward and congratulate his partner on a job well done. Captain Yami himself struggled against Dante even with Asta's help and Magna was able to finish the job.
"Luck…"
It was a breathless whisper. He barely heard it. But the sound of his name on the Fire mages lips snapped him to attention. Piercing gray eyes met brilliant blue as the two stood there like time itself stood still.
It was Magna who acted first as he hobbled toward Luck to close the gap in a big hug.
"I told ya I wouldn't let you pull ahead of me ya jerk." Magna chuckled as he held the lightning mage tight.
"Magna I…"
The fire mage pulled back to stand in front. He was clearly favoring one leg and kept one hand on the blonde's shoulder for balance. The hand burned from overuse of magic. Luck could feel it almost burn his skin.
"If you two are done playing grab ass…" Zora walked past the pair toward the doorway. "I think we still have a job to do."
"Right." Magna nodded, "You ready to go kick some ass? Yami is waiting for us."
The reminder of what's at stake snaps Luck back to reality.
"Then let's go! This time you can see what new tricks I've learned! This will be so much fun!"
Just like that he was gone in a flash of blue. Ready to take on the challenge that lies ahead of him.
Obvious (Black Clover)
Summary: Despite his attempts to fly under the radar, Finral's enjoyment of a particular activity is too obvious to hide.
A/N: Love me some lee!Finral! He's such a sweetheart and deserves the world. I love his character growth throughout the series and how everyone has his back, even if they don't flaunt it like Asta does. Just wanted to shower him with love for this one. Enjoy!
Word Count: 1098
~~~
Finral was a flushed, giggly, teary-eyed mess, one hand covering his mouth in an attempt to stave off the leftover snickers spilling out of him as Vanessa grinned and ruffled his hair. His ribs and sides were singing with phantom tickles, making him shiver as she climbed off of him.
“I’m done, I promise,” she said sweetly, offering a hand to help him sit up.
After a moment, he took it and groaned as she pulled him into a seated position on the ground. “So,” he gasped, barely able to make eye contact for how flustered he was, “what will be your next excuse to tickle me?”
Vanessa chuckled. “So eager for more, Finral?”
“No!” he cried, feeling the heat rising to his cheeks despite his best efforts to appear unfazed. “Just…wondering when I should put my guard up around you.”
“Always, Finral,” she replied, giving him a playful smile. “Always have your guard up.”
~
Finral didn’t keep his guard up. He didn’t want to, which was why when Luck suddenly tackled him out of nowhere the next day, he stood no chance at all.
“Tickle, tickle! Hahaha, you look so surprised!” Luck giggled, fingers flying at literal lightning speed across the brunette’s torso.
“Luhuhuhuhuhuhuck!” Finral squealed, arms flying down to try and protect himself. It was all for naught, however, and he instead found himself surrendering to the tickly touches whether he wanted to or not. Not that he didn’t want to.
Luck poked and scribbled and dug mercilessly, making Finral arch his back and squeal and kick his legs in an effort to relieve some of the ticklish sensations wracking his body. Still, he couldn’t bring himself to ask his friend to stop; if anything, it felt amazing to let go and laugh like this.
The blonde kept it up for another minute or so, then stopped and giggled, “That was fun! We should do that again sometime! But you know…maybe you can fight back a little next time?”
Finral panted for breath and pushed himself up, watching Luck skip away excitedly, no doubt looking for his next victim. He blushed. Next time, huh?
~
“GAHAHAHAHAD MAHAHAHAHAGNA STAHAHAHAHAHAP IT!!” Finral pleaded, laughing loudly and flailing wildly as his delinquent teammate straddled his waist and dug into his knee pits. He hadn’t been tickled this hard in a while – even Luck wasn’t usually this merciless!
“Nah, you deserve this, you punk!” Magna replied triumphantly, smirking down at him as he screeched and thrashed and lost his mind laughing.
“WHAHAHAHAHAHAT FOHOHOHOHOHOHOR?! I DIHIHIHIHIDN’T DO ANYTHIHIHING!!”
Magna scoffed good-naturedly, finding a specific spot in Finral’s knee pits that made the brunette wheeze with silent laughter. “Maybe that’s the thing, taxi service. You don’t do anything.”
Finral had no idea what he was talking about, but he couldn’t care less right now. He had to breathe, had to beg for mercy, wanted to keep laughing his guts out until he had no laughter left. This was unbearable! And yet…he didn’t want to get away.
~
“Hey, Finral!” Asta shouted as soon as Finral entered the living room, making the brunette freeze in place, bracing himself. Three consecutive days of different teammates tickling him to pieces had him a little more on edge now, but still, he watched as his anti-magic friend bounded up to him with the barest hint of hope in his chest.
“Y-Yeah, Asta?”
“Is it true you like being tickled?!”
Everything came to a screeching halt. Finral’s eyes went wide. He felt himself blushing furiously, eyes darting around at the others, all of whom suddenly looked frustrated.
Did they think he was stupid? Were they mad that he didn’t give them the reactions they were probably looking for? Expecting? What if he was disappointing them again—?
“Asta!” Magna groaned. “You weren’t supposed to say something!”
Finral stared, heart racing nervously. “W-What?”
Asta turned to look back at the others. “Huh? But why not? If he likes it, why should he hide it?”
“It was more fun when he thought we didn’t know!” Magna whined, then was promptly shut up by a pillow whacking him in the face.
Vanessa got to her feet. “He doesn’t hide it. That’s why it’s so fun. And you should never feel like you need to, Finral.”
Finral’s eyes darted around frantically, surprised to see that even Gouche and Gordon and Gray were listening in with interest. He shrank in on himself a little. “I…I’m sorry. I didn’t want you to think I was being weird, s-so that’s why I never said anything…”
“Honey, you didn’t need to say anything. We understand you perfectly,” Vanessa told him gently, putting a hand on his shoulder. “We can see how much fun you’re having. We notice that you don’t ask us to stop. That’s why we keep doing it so often.”
“Yeah, dude,” Magna added, striding over to join them. “Even when I found a bad spot you were barely protesting at all. Your stamina is impressive.”
Finral swallowed nervously, still glancing between the three of them. But upon seeing their genuine smiles, their open features, he felt himself relax a little. “T-Thank you guys. I…I do kind of like it. It’s…nice.”
“Kind of?” Vanessa teased.
“Okay, I like it a lot,” Finral admitted.
Asta was bouncing up and down like crazy, his eyes taking on that excited gleam they got when he learned something new. “I want to see! Let me tickle you, Finral!”
Before the brunette could say another word, Asta had latched himself onto his ribs and was digging in with fervor, making him shriek and laugh. “W-Wait, wahahahahait!”
Vanessa and Magna exchanged mischievous looks of their own, then joined in, each of them grabbing an arm and pulling them out of Asta’s way, and within seconds all four of them were on the ground, Finral at the center of tickly attention, laughing and squirming helplessly beneath their fingers.
“Ooh, we’re gang tickling him? I want in!” Luck cried, having suddenly appeared from who-knew-where, throwing himself into the fray as well.
Finral couldn’t even bring himself to protest. He just let himself be pinned and tickled playfully, laughter spilling from his lips freely, happily. “You guhuhuhuhuhuhuys!”
They all grinned down at him.
“We got you, pal,” Magna said.
“Don’t worry, Finral,” Vanessa soothed.
“Yeah!” Asta and Luck said at the same time. “We’re gonna tickle you for as long as you want, Finral!”
The brunette blushed and laughed even harder, barely resisting their hold on him as he laughed himself into a happy oblivion.
He loved his Black Bulls family.
