tamlin is objectively a good high lord and his crash out after his new and tentatively stable court was destroyed is completely understandable and i would probably do the same thing

My new favorite HC : Eris is a daemati and regularly talk with Lucien, they're still brothers, they just pretend to hate each other because Baron can't know about Eris's ability/their relationship

”Elain doesn’t deserve Lucien!”
What has Lucien done to deserve Elain? EL stans love to hate on Azriel for saying Lucien doesn’t deserve her but I agree with him.
Lucien’s sad backstory doesn’t make him automatically deserving of Elain. Especially when she had nothing to do with it. What has he done for her?
. Rhys came straight away to help Feyre when she needed it, he took her away from Tamlin. Made her happy day by day. . Cassian made a promise to Nesta to keep Elain and the humans safe. He stood by Nesta when she was at his lowest. . Azriel truly paid attention and listened to Elain. He chose to spend time with her. He went to save her knowing he could die. He listened late at night to Elains future gardening plans.
which brings me back too, What has Lucien done for Elain? Leave the spring court? Sure. That could have been romantic if 1) He didn’t then question if Elain was worth fighting for 2) he would’ve had to leave spring anyways for his safety.
This fandom loves to say Elain doesn’t deserve Lucien but honestly? It should be about what Lucien has done for Elain to deserve her.

Wanna know what's fucked up? At the end of ACOSF, Nesta still feels she has to earn Cassian's and her father's love.
The same father, who supposedly loved her since she was born, but still let her mother groom and abuse her for years without doing anything.
Nesta mentions Elain and Feyre being 'his princesses' or whatever, while she was 'her mother's creature'. Are you telling me he didn't give any hint in those years that he loved Nesta. Didn't console or try to help her? Didn't show her any love, ignoring her mother's abuse while doting on Elain and Feyre?
Yet he seemed all too ready to let them starve before getting off his ass and doing something. He failed Nesta in her early years, failed her again in her formative years, and somehow the IC thinks she's in the wrong for not wanting to visit his grave or talk about him?
Did she have to earn his protection from their mother too? Is that why he didn't do anything to protect Nesta? She hadn't earned it? After all of that, he gets a portrait and Nesta doesn't? Get the fuck out of here. He didn't love her at all, yet Feyre and the others act like she's the unreasonable one.

Anti-Eluciens when Lucien lives with the band of exiles, says he can’t be in the same room as Elain, suppresses his urges: huh why isn’t he trying harder with Elain? He must not like her. Maybe they don’t even have a mating bond.
Anti-Eluciens when Lucien whispers that Elain is his mate at the Cauldron, sits near her, gives gifts on holidays: oh my god he’s so possessive can’t you see she’s uncomfortable???? Leave her alone, you creep! Let her have a choice!!!
Lucien has been nothing but respectful and cautious around Elain, even though it’s obvious he has longing for her. Even though they are mates, he gives her the space she wants.
Anti-Eluciens (E/riels) are constantly contradicting themselves and I’m excited for Elucien’s book so they can be proven wrong.

A Court of Shadows and Blood (ACOSAB)
Summary: What if Nesta's trip to the Wall went different? What if she managed to get through without help? And what if, instead of Feyre, she found someone else?
After witnessing her sister being taken by a powerful Fae and enduring the burden of being the only one of her family to know the truth, Nesta Archeron decides to take matters into her hands and rescue Feyre herself, going up to the one place she was taught all her life to fear and avoid: The Wall.
But when she reaches the land of Fae, it's not Feyre whom she finds first. Instead, she comes across a man made of shadows that likes her venom and ends up as his prisoner in Under the Mountain. Nesta has to manouvre her way around this court of death and monsters with only her wit as weapon, at the same time she endures Rhysand's games made to amuse himself at her expense.
But Nesta was raised for conquest, nurtured with her own blood and tears until even her mind was made of iron. This Lord of darkness won't break her, nor the red-haired demon he serves. She'll save her sister one way or another, even if she has to become another monster herself to do so.

The Giggle At a Funeral
so... just want to reiterate I love my bbg Tamlin. Precious lil guy who should have been a happy bard and deserves the happiest ending possible. Just keep that in mind pls. Enjoy!!!
__________________________________________
It looked like it was a quiet passing.
Not a single peep had rang out amongst the now dark forests, like all sparks of life were smothered to cold ashes. The only noise was the rustling of dead leaves and snapping of weak branches against the harsh wind.
It looked like it had been a soundless death; an even lonelier funeral.
Rhysand was the one who had originally found the corpse. The body was already in the stage of rotting when the High Lord happened upon the remains. Rhysand seemed to have been there with the intent to antagonize and gloat. One could only rationally assume he was met with an unwanted response from his target.
Eventually, the news had followed Rhysand back to the Court of Dreams, where Lucien was first informed of it. He had originally been there to offer updates on the politics of the Continent and any changes from the last briefing. All for show, of course, Azriel already knew all there was to know. It just took place so the Inner Circle would test to see if Lucien lied.
Lucien had been occupying a lone leather chair close to the corner, delicately nursing a small glass of fae wine. Time spent in the Mortal Lands made it so consuming fae cuisine was now unreasonably difficult. It was hard to withstand flavors now when one was accustomed to the taste of ash.
The Inner Circle was lazily scattered on the other pieces of furniture occupying the room. Mor was languidly draped over a velvet couch, chatting idly with Cassian who was giving her a tender foot rub. Azriel was standing over them, pointedly staring at the floor with crossed arms but dutifully nodding along when appropriate.
Nesta was off training with the Valkyries. Lucien rarely saw her nowadays, and it felt purposeful, at least on Rhysand’s end. Keeping the outliers separated.
The ancient horror was, thankfully, away with her Summer Court prince. Small mercies.
Elain was nowhere to be found. Lucien had stopped letting that wound sting for a while now.
Finally, Feyre was settled in the other couch, her son in her arms. The baby kept trying to squirm out of his blanket, and Feyre was trying her best to keep him snuggled, but Nyx’s small wings kept getting squashed or poked out awkwardly. The boy had started making agitated squeaks, and Lucien could tell a meltdown seemed imminent. Nobody had looked to be worrying about that on the other side of the room. Feyre had briefly glanced upwards at one point towards the Inner Circle, and had tried to get their attention, but her calls were drowned out by their combined voices.
Lucien had thought about getting up to help several times, but he was rooted to his seat. He had helped her so many times before on much grander scales. The trials, Spring Court, Autumn Court, The armies, and what did he ever receive as gratitude? Nothing at best and torture at worst.
What would happen to him this time if the Inner Circle deemed him too close for their liking to the Heir of the Night Court? Too close to the High Lord’s Lady? It seemed utterly irrational, but it’s been proven to be completely within the realm of possibility for this Court.
It made him all the more apprehensive to put his head on the chopping block again for her, even if it was no fault of Nyx.
So he had only watched on, and it made him feel despicable. It was a lonely and wretched feeling.
Though he had been invited to Velaris, he was certainly not welcome.
Suddenly, Rhysand had stumbled through the doorway and roared thunderously, shaking the mansion like a quake. Nyx let out a startled screech that quickly devolved to inconsolable wailing. Feyre tried to comfort him, but there was little she could do by herself. The Inner Circle quickly flocked to their High Lord with questions and worry.
Some started to celebrate the news once Rhysand’s crazed rambles gave enough context. Their applause and cheers seemed to muffle out the baby’s crying and Feyre’s calls for help with her son. Rhysand seemed to be the only one enraged like a mad animal.
Lucien had been struck paralyzed for an eternity before he had found himself winnowing to the ruins that was once the Spring Court, Running to a tomb that was once his home, and standing over the body that was once alive.
Among the bones of animals, He was laying on His side, eyes closed with softened features, like He was merely taking a much needed rest. Thin arms hugged His body, locked in place even after His heart quieted. The tunic, empty baldric, and trousers looked more like they blanketed His emaciated corpse instead of being worn.
It uncannily looked everything and nothing like who He was before.
His face was never that peaceful or open.
It looked unbelievable. Fake. A cruel joke that made him want to hold his breath for the moment when the ruse ceased. But that moment would never come.
Lucien couldn’t understand Rhysand’s rage. Didn’t Rhysand want this? Rhysand was furious at His continued existence and now he has the gall to foam at the mouth at His death?
Rhysand was always a spoilt creature, never satisfied with anything.
It was all so insane that it made Lucien laugh. He couldn’t hold it back. He kept laughing and laughing until he was sobbing, slowly falling to his knees and his hands clutching weakly onto the cold, rotting hand of the other.
Tamlin was gone.

Sometimes I almost understand those half-feral artists with their muses.
It is absurd how much the idea of Tamlin and Lucien have me in a chokehold. Especially when SJM likely did not mean for me as an audience to contemplate them like this. And the more she means for the readers to hate on the characters, the more I end up thinking about them.
Socially awkward and complex character who never wanted to be in a position of power, was pretty much set up for failure by the narrative from the start? Also has hobbies as a musician and writes limericks? Tragic and absolutely has my attention.
A loyal, silver-tongued man with burning red hair and sad brown eyes? A past drenched in loss, loneliness and betrayals? Completely done wrong by the author and other characters around him and isn't given justice? I am weak.
Yes the characters and the series have problems (which also drive me up the wall) but sometimes I want to be a simple girl and appreciate simple ideas and pretty things.
Some characters are so very lovely to me in an abstract way and I can't explain it. I love the idea of characters but often the lost potential makes me sad.
That is all.

About once every 4-6 months I remember that the Dragons series by @separatist-apologist exists and my entire life must be put on pause as I devour 120,000 words in a single sitting.
I then inevitably also need to re read the Dark Gods series.
It’s very disruptive to my life tbh read either of these series’ at your own risk (but seriously if you haven’t read Dragons correct that immediately)

i would like to point out- since many people tend to use this as a reason for why azriel and elain are meant to be together- recognizing someones power does not mean that they are destined to be together or that they are perfect.
beron was the one who realized luciens power. so did his brothers. they try at every turn to kill him. (except eris but that a different matter for a diff time)
rhys was the one who first noted nestas power
lucien and tamlin recognize feyres power
just because azriel is the one who recognizes elain is a seer does not mean he truly sees her.
we get an inside to luciens mind through feyre, when he comes to visit her in the library. his thoughts are about how shes so thin. and she needs to eat more. he has no bad thoughts aimed at her, not that i think azriel does but diff point again, and afterwards tells feyre she needs a healer. just to check. he has been through traumatic experiences before. he knows how mentally it can ruin you. he wants to help
when elain starts talking about the firebird, lucien offers help. he does not know her that well, she avoids him like the plague, but he asks feyre, her sister, if she needs something, if he can do anything. azriel cuts him off and says she does not need anything. then he says, we need.... a seer. he realizes what elains power is. yay. wow. good job bud! (no hate to az) lucien was concerned about elain. worried for her mentally and physical state. az was able to see from afar what her words meant, because he wasnt actually looking at her. he didnt truly see the gauntness, he cuts lucien off before he even realizes what elain needs, or if she needs something.
we learn in the bonus chapter az has a poor opinion of lucien. maybe because he is in love with elain, maybe because he was in love with mor, whatever the reason, he doesnt think highly of lucien. he didnt cut lucien off because he had a better idea of what elain needed, he cut him off because he didnt like lucien being the one to say it. (again not necessarily hate towards az)
literally just because az realized that elain was a seer does not mean he is meant to be hers. we can see/hear in the bonus chapter that az wants to claim elain. he believes he is entitled to her because lucien doesnt deserve her and his two brothers both have an archeron sister of their own. he does not deserve her just because no one else realized her power.
