I really just... don't fit in anywhere I go, do I?

I'm a long-time fan of the Final Fantasy series, but because I went for a long-ass time without contributing anything to it/interacting directly with it, I don't fit in there, and apparently there are people who think I shouldn't have gotten into Lucida Sidera because of this :/

(a few weeks ago I was trying to encourage someone on a LOZ zine server to apply for zines even when they don't have stuff for the source material in their portfolio because you never know and each zine is different, and brought up that I don't have any recent FF fics in mine but still got into LS... and someone who was rejected from LS spoke up and said that they have a lot of FF fics and essays up on AO3 and didn't get in and that "a lot of longtime fans" were confused about the zine's selection process. I have felt guilty about my acceptance ever since)

right now I write a lot of stuff for LOZ, but because I didn't play most of the games as a kid *and* I write for an unpopular ship, I don't really fit in there either. and even among fans of said ship I don't fit in because... idk. I'm just not good enough, I guess.

Here's a preview of a story I wrote for @ffladieszine, representing FFIX. FFIX is a game that means a lot to me, that I've loved with all my heart ever since it came out, and I was so touched and honored to be allowed to write for it in this amazing zine. I wrote a story about Princess Garnet, a character who's incredibly dear to me, and I sincerely hope that I did her and her amazing source material justice. <3
