I don't know you. I think you found my Pokémon Shuffle friend code on a Twitter post, long ago- and we've never talked. However, every day, for multiple years, we have given each other "mini-hearts" in this ""freemium"" mobile app that stopped being updated in 2018 (I think?) The remainder of my app-friends have not logged in years.

Your mini-hearts allow me to play this addicting game more, without ever having to spend a cent on it. I have caught all but one of the Pokémon (Curse you Primal Groudon)- and I know you'll get there too, someday. I hope the mini-hearts I send are helping you, too.

i don't think this will be a surprise to literally anyone considering the absolute radio silence from this blog for this entire year, but yea lesbian deer story is now OFFICIALLY going on hiatus. [party blower noise]

why?? well basically sometimes when u keep hitting walls on a thing it's better to just put it up on the shelf and maybe get back to it later rather than keep running into walls trying to fix it. me and lucheek both decided that the shelf option was better for both of us in this case.

that said, lucheek and i still have plans to collaborate on stuff, and we actually have a fucking TROVE of good ideas to work with. but also we both agreed that it'd be best for us to actually have somthn tangible to show off before posting about anything we're working on, so it'll be a hot minute before anyone sees what we're up to.

i'm also gonna be working on my own individual stuff too, cuz there are certain things in this world that only i can do…… whensoever i have somthn new to show off, whether it's my own stuff or a collab work, i'm gonna shout it out here. i figure if there are still ppl interested in the stuff i make, they should know when i have a new thing to show off.

so that's that! lastly, i just wanna thank everyone who has supported us and shown interest in this project over the years. i apologize for not being able to deliver this time. we'll get 'em next time.

ZINE CONTRIBUTOR APPLICATIONS OPEN!

What do little goblins play with while their parents are away defending the evil castle?

How do you teach a baby lich-to-be the basics of the infernal alphabet?

“Jolly Ol’ Toy King: Modern Fantasy Catalogue” is an upcoming artistic anthology ‘zine that mimics the look of a hypothetical toy-store shopping catalogue in a fantastical and magical modern world.

The ‘zine project is orangized by @lucheek, and is looking for 10 to 20 more collaborators! Jolly Ol’ Toy King will need illustrators and artists to make full-page scenes, half-page toy close-ups, and bonus promo stickers, graphic and layout designers to bring the pieces together, and writers to write the inside texts and blurbs.

About The Zine

Jolly Ol’ Toy King will have a “pre-order period” for digital and physical print-edition sales, as well as bonus promotional stickers. The printed edition will be 8.5" x 11" (magazine-size.)

After this pre-order period ends, and the orders are fulfilled, contributors can choose to post or re-print their individual work. Contributors will also be able to sell physical copies of the finished ‘zine, which they can order during the pre-order period for wholesale prices.

About Contributors

All contributors must be at least 18 years old, and have mailing addresses within the United States. This project will be organized through Discord!

Contributors will receive two personal copies of the printed zine as well as two copies of all promotional stickers, a split of the profits from the pre-order period, the ability to order wholesale physical copies dring the pre-order period, and rights to sell the completed physical zine after the end of the pre-order period.

Right now, I’m looking for contributors to submit their finished work in the first week of July, for a pre-order period starting in August. This schedule is subject to change.

The content of Jolly Ol’ Toy King is meant to be for all-ages- so nothing should be graphically violent, sexual, distasteful, or hateful. We also want to avoid direct use of copyrighted characters, although parodies are acceptable.

While the total work is supposed to look like a “real” catalogue, the products themselves can be as far-fetched and silly as you want them to be! In fact, I encourage a little bit of absurd humor.

I’m big into the idea of Pokemon crossbreeding and the different variations that could result.  I wish it was possible for this to be added to the game, however, I understand that it would make the mechanics of the game difficult.  It would be nice though if they possibly made a side game where this was possible.  Maybe a game based around the trainer type known as the Pokemon Breeder or a related type.  Also, while I appreciate all forms of crossbreeding pictures and fusion methods, I enjoy looking at and thinking about variations that are realistic.  This are some of my favorites that I think might be realistically plausible.  I haven’t checked to see if all of these Pokemon share egg groups or not, and I don’t necessarily believe all of these work, but this is a small list of ones that mostly work for me.  These pictures came from the internet (google mostly)  and many didn’t list the artist that drew them, so if you see your work here and wish to be recognized for your work please let me know and I will see to it that it is documented.  For now I haven’t listed anyone as I don’t know who to credit.

new year new deer

i have used that pun three years running and i am not stopping

so hey happy new year everypony! i hope 2023 treats everyone well, and i know for me i’m gonna try and hit the ground running this year. so with that in mind, let’s do a little new years state of the deer post!

first off, huge thanks to everyone who read and enjoyed the prototype script chapters! i honestly wasn’t sure if anyone was going to, but a few ppl did and said nice things about them and i appreciate that alot.

there were meant to be more prototype chapters, but a cold snap at the end of the year knocked me on my ass and it was too FARKIN COLD to actually get anything done, so alas i wasn’t able to make more chapters.

but speaking of the prototype! i am happy to consider it a HUGE SUCCESS even if i didn’t technically finish it, bcuz it gave me two very big and important gifts:

1. the version of the story i put together from the prototype is the FINAL VERSION. it has rly helped me consolidate and solidify all of the disparate ideas i’ve been accumulating for this story and world and characters over the last two years, and it feels like a rock solid foundation to build on. very excited.

2. working on the prototype was sorta the final boss of all the visual novel development i’ve been doing over the past year, and it has rly helped me understand what it takes to make a visual novel. turns out it takes ALOT more time and resources than i had originally thought.

more time and resources than lucheek and i have at our disposal at the moment, in fact. so we’ve both decided to scrap the visual novel idea and are retooling the story into somthn much simpler that fits more in line with the tools and skills that we both currently possess. which tbh?? kinda a relief!

our current plan for the new form of the story is to do somthn similar to the prototype chapters, just putting up chapters that ppl can read for free, but the chapters will be accompanied by beautiful illustrations from lucheek to set the scene or mood.

we’re planning to put the chapters right here on the blog bcuz that is RLY CONVENIENT. there are also plans in the works to give it its own dedicated website, but that’s more for down the road.

the other big perk to this retool is that we can get the story into ppl’s hands much sooner!!! tho i’m not ready to put an ETA on that just yet, lucheek and i are both busy women with tight schedules and we gotta work some stuff out before we can say anything concrete about release dates and such.

so yea friendship ended with visual novels now simple illustrations and text are my new best friends. this is a story that means alot to me and i rly wanna get it into ppl’s hands and hooves, and i massively appreciate everyone who has been bearing with us as we put this thing together!
