ICYMI: The Chilean Star Wars Visions short, "In the Stars" was inspired by the genocide of the Selk'nam, an indigenous group in Patagonia.

But yesterday, after a long campaign, the Selk'nam finally gained official recognition from the Chilean government:

Here's a little bit in English about what it means for them to be officially recognized, and what it took to get there (written beforehand):

This official recognition also includes the Chilean government admitting its fault in the genocide publicly, which is a really big deal.

Also, a movie about the Selk'nam genocide, "The Settlers" (Los Colonos), which won an award at Cannes, was also just selected by the Chilean Film Academy as Chile's entry for the Oscars this year (and will be coming out for wider audiences soon!):

"In the Stars", sadly, was disqualified from the Emmys this year on a TECHNICALITY - there will be NO short form animated entries this year because of a mess behind the scenes.

All that being said, it's wonderful news for the Selk'nam this week, and it's really cool when Star Wars reflects a real world struggle against fascism.

Oui, il y a du SEXE dans Star Wars, soigneusement dosé et caché pour que la franchise puisse s'adresser à toute la famille. Le sexe dans la Saga est indissociable de l'amour romantique des 3 couples/générations/trilogies : Anakin et Padmé, Han et Leia, Ben et Rey.

it's a french-language podcast 😅 but if you understand french, it's called "lucasfilles"! I've only listened to 2 eps so far (masculinity, motherhood) but their topic list is definitely 👌

Star Wars 7-9, La dyade Ben/Rey, un pétard mouillé

Tout d’abord, je tiens à préciser que je suis une Reylo.  Donc, dans ce billet, j’exprime ma grande déception sur la fin de cette 3me trilogie.

Tout d’abord, la rédemption de Ben dure trop peu de temps.

Le talent d’Adam Driver, pour nous montrer la différence entre Kylo et Ben, est tellement grand qu’il m’a donné envie de « plus de Ben ». Je sais qu’il a étudié la gestuelle d’Harrison Ford pour la reproduire lorsqu’il redevient Ben Solo, ce qui nous permet de voir que le personnage ressemble beaucoup à son père.

Concernant la dyade, promise comme la plus grande force jamais vue dans toute l’histoire, elle semble plus servir de cure de jouvence à Papi Palpatyne qu’à le vaincre.

Ce que je regrette, c’est que ce ne soit pas Ben et Rey qui vainquent l’Empereur ensemble. Avec Ben en tant que dyade, Rey n’avait pas besoin de tous les anciens Jedis pour réussir.

En tant que femme, ce qui me gêne est, qu’au nom d’un féminisme dans lequel je ne me reconnais pas, l’héroïne doit finir sa vie seule pour être forte ou n’a pas besoin d’un homme pour battre le méchant.

Ce qui manque à la fin de la dernière trilogie, c’est l’équilibre (principe essentiel des Jedis), la dyade Ben/Rey étant sensée nous le montrer (loupé !!!!!!!).

Enfin, je vous conseille de regarder sur Youtube la chaîne Lucasfilles qui comporte beaucoup de vidéos sur la saga très intéressantes.
