“We have to bring Rook back” Spite is screaming as Lucanis leans for support to the nearest object, person, anything.

“Lucanis, stop ignoring me” Spite growled clawing at Lucanis’ brain more and more, trying to push him to do something, to take over, anything but sit idly waiting, Spite couldn’t wait. “Rook. Back. Now” He repeated and repeated as it was all dawning on Lucanis.

Rook was.. gone.

Rook was gone and he had not told them how he felt. Gone.

His chest heaved, nausea growing in his stomach the more the seconds ticked away, and Spite did not help.

“If you won’t do anything I will” Spite yelled louder hoping that that would shake awake Lucanis, cause Rook was gone and even though he hated to admit it, he needed Rook. “I will take over and I will do it” It was like a slap in his face, the tone that Spite used, as if he physically tried to spit at him, different from his usual creepy and whiny voice.

“Stop it” Lucanis’ barely whispered, cracking for the first time in weeks. There was a time where he promised he would never sound so broken again, yet in that moment he couldn’t hold it back.

“No.” Spite insisted. “I will handle this” 

“You won’t handle shit” Lucanis had to keep his control, be smart, he couldn’t allow Spite to take over and fumble the one thing he couldn’t allow to fuck up. “I will find Rook and bring them back” He swore as he held back the lonely tear at the crease of his eye as he promised himself he would not waste any more time.

He cried later that day, when the coffee high started to fade again, and his body felt heavy. How long had it been since he last sobbed so uncontrollably and his chest ached? Since he allowed himself to feel remorse?

He should have told them what he felt, he should have kissed them when he had the chance, he should have held them when they were there.. yet he failed.

Lucanis has been distracted since missing his shot at Ghilhan'nain, and for other reasons as well. Rook believes they might have a solution. As it turns out, they're more open to bringing Spite into the equation than Lucanis would have predicted, and his attraction isn't as one-sided as he let himself believe.

Shameless smut, in which Lucanis pines horrendously for Rook, Spite plays devil's advocate, and both take turns showing Rook what it means to make love with a demon.

Lucanis Lunchboxes Entry 8: Inedible Minestrone

What if Lucanis packed Rook lunchboxes with little notes in them throughout the main story?

I saved the best for last. This is my favorite one of the bunch. Oh Spite. What a guy.

Between Spite's interest in fire, his fascination with Rook, and I'm suspecting some lingering rivalry with Lucanis for Rook's attention, of course he's going to demand to cook for them.

What would you want Spite to try to cook for you? (He's open to suggestions.) I'm planning on writing more of these with the longer-term goal of modding these notes into DA:TV.

Maybe one day he'll even make something edible. We're all rooting for him.

Like, Rook had been missing for WEEKS, Lucanis says he thought he'd never see them again. He's terrified of losing them and will repeatedly say that if he has to kill a god to be with them, he'd do it in a heartbeat!

Spite probably feels this way too. Rook is his favorite, they open doors, he trusts them above all others, they actually like him. Spite wrapping his wings around Rook is like an embrace. A way of showing how much both he and Lucanis missed them, how afraid they are that Rook is going to disappear again.

When he unfurls his wings, he lets them know that he and Lucanis will do anything to keep them safe and won't let anyone or anything hurt them ever again. Not while Rook is under his wings, and not while they're fighting gods
