Please consider: one of the boys gets stranded from the group and promptly ambushed. As he was left alone, he wasn’t able to protect himself to the best of his abilities and the others are no where to be seen. Out of the blue, Reader, who he has never met before, begins beating the snot out of that poor offending monster. Turns out, they are a traveler of some variety who got roped into this adventure by one strange looking shadow.
How would the boys react to being protected by someone they have never met before, someone who seems altruistic in their intent?
I love your writing and I would be interested to see who you think would have the most interesting response to this. Please remember that you are appreciated and loved for all that you do. You create masterpieces with your words, and for that, we are grateful.
-VS
Chain is stranded, reader saves them
This is such a GOOD concept!! If anyone wanted a fic I'd be happy to do one.
Content under the cut, boys are in alphabetical order. (Slowly catching up, but I am tentatively back.)
Four
He's probably just greatful for the assist.
Maybe a little curious about where you came from but he'll ask questions later.
If he can he tries to help ypu right back
He'll thank you after and offer to help you back to your home/town
Would probably check you for injuries he could see
Overall he's both a little confused and very grateful
Hyrule
He's thanking you the moment you start to help
His world is fairly sparse, so any aid is appreciated
If he can, after the fight is done he'll try to heal you
If he cannot, he'll offer a potion or something
He offers to walk you home or to let you stay with him until a time you can go home
He very grateful over all, would try to get you food as payment
Legend
Immediately torn between grateful and suspicious.
It's convenient you just showed up.
But if you were going to kill him you probably wouldn't be trying to save him. So he doesn't accuse you
When it's over he thanks you and tries to send you on your way.
Would help you if you injured yourself protecting him.
He would throw you to the wolves, so if you need him to travel with you for a bit he will, but he's still a little suspicious of your intent.
He's still glad you came and helped him through.
Sky
He's definitely surprised.
But he's very grateful and will tell you at least twice
More trusting than some of the others
Will offer you healing items afterwards
He's chattier than others too, he's likely to ask you about yourself while you guys find a way towards wherever you've chosen to go.
Time
Probably in pretty bad shape if he needs saving, so if he's not talkative don't take ot to heart
He might be unconscious honestly. He's got too many tools to go down easy.
But after it's all said and done he thanks you and offers to get you home and fed.
He's not the most trusting, but he's friendly enough now.
Twilight
He's grateful and says as much as soon as you step in.
He will patch you up afterwards too they all would honestly
Probably less surprised than others he grew up in a small town where people were friendly
Might compliment your fighting
Warriors
Embarrassed and grateful. He's captain of the royal gaurd he shouldn't need help.
But he IS grateful. He's glad you were there because regardless of his emotions, he NEEDED help
Would subconsciously analyze your stance and movements because again... captain.
Will thank you.
Wild
Suspicious. Immediately. His Hyrule is sparsely populated and he's always worried about Yiga.
But he's still grateful.
He'd probably offer you a snack or potion as thanks. Maybe invite you to stay for dinner.
Wind
Oh, he's probably offering you a shiny trinket as thanks.
He's more trusting than some of the others.
Will demand to trade battle stories.
He's a sweetheart and will probably also offer for you to join them for lunch/dinner.

Okay okay we always see eldritch horror Wild stuff, but I want ALL of the chain to be eldritch. But each member thinks they're the only one. They all try to act super normal and pretend they're not an eldritch monstrosity but it just makes them look even more strange and eldritch to literally everyone who's not a member of the chain. They try and talk super formal and proper and it comes off just.. odd to every normal being. Their attempts at being normal, ironically enough, make them less normal. It's obvious to everyone that it's a group of mysterious eldritch monstrosities EXCEPT for the members of the group. Sky sees his reincarnations and he's like "They're all so normal... They're just Hylians. I'm glad to know whatever happened to me didn't pass on through the spirit .... If only I could be a true Hylian like them" meanwhile Wild has glowing eyes and weird blue blood and plants grow around him ("Uhm.. blue blood is very normal in my Hyrule. Yes... Indeed. And the plants? Oh, uh, I have a green thumb?"), Hyrule is constantly surrounded by fairies, his blood is iridescent and animals flock to him ("What? No, my blood doesn't shimmer, I don't know what you're talking about.. I just smell like sugar, that's why fairies and animals like me.") Wind can control the weather and the waves calm in his presence, his boat always sails true without him needing a map ("I'm just lucky?") Time can sense the portals before they arrive, his blood is pure white, and clocks around him stop when he gets distressed (".... I have a medical condition. That is why my blood is white and not red. I have... Low... Red... Anemia......... Yeah, I have lowredamenia, that's why my blood is white. Also the clocks are your own fault, you all get crummy clocks.") and so forth....... (I will think of more for the other later)

super random headcanon
when legend is upset, he stomps. Just like rabbits do when they’re upset!
wind gets super close to monster because likes to take photos of them to make figures
time isn’t a big fan of dogs because he got attacked by them in his deku form during mm
sky is always in the first set of night watch because no one can wake him up in the middle of the night
wild really wants to borrow hyrule’s candle but the others aren’t allowing him
warriors is actually good at sewing! Him and legend are the ones who patch up the chain’s clothes
twi tries to scare time every now and then when he gets a chance. He hasn’t been successful
hyrule’s good at hiding his weapons and belongings from others because of how chaotic his Hyrule is
four wants to learn wood carving from sky because he wants to be able to create stuff other than weapons

How the LU Links would play Stardew Valley
Farm choice
Twilight: Meadowlands, but it’s a hard choice between that and Riverland
Sky: Forest
Wild: Riverland. Sidon made him
Time: Meadowlands. He designs his farm to look like Lon Lon Ranch. He names it Lon Lon Farm
Wind: Beach
Hyrule: Wilderness
Warriors: Wilderness or Hilltop
Four: Hilltop (also likes the Four Corners map for multiplayer with the colors)
Legend: has one file with every map. His favorite is standard because it’s the most customizable
Favorite activities:
Hyrule: Mines. Mines. Forgets to talk to the characters
Warriors: collecting artifacts and donations for the museum, learning every fact about the characters
Sky: making friends with the characters, Community Center
Four: Mines. When he and Hyrule play together, they compete to see who can speedrun the skull cavern the fastest
Time: petting his animals, farming
Twilight: fishing and romance
Wild: a little bit of everything
Wind: leveling up all his stats
Legend: unlocking all the secret plot things, mundane tasks in taking care of his farm
Romance
Sky: Cries because he can’t marry more than one person. Ends up dating everyone but never marrying anyone because he can’t choose
Time: wants so bad to marry Marnie, so he doesn’t date anyone else focuses on his farm. Hates Lewis
Wild: Penny reminds him a bit of Flora, so they date for a while. Maru very much reminds him of Flora so they date next. The idea of marriage makes Wild want to exit his skin so he dates Maru long-term but never marries
Four: sewer monster platonic roommate, or Sebastian. Reminds him of someone (Shadow)
Hyrule: sewer monster platonic roommate
Wind: causes dating chaos. First dates Sam so he can try to learn a kickflip but then he never learns to do a kickflip and so they break up. He likes to date around and cheat and break up and cause all kinds of drama in the town just for shits and giggles (thank you @wildsage00 for input on this one)
Legend: marries Leah. Reminds him of someone (Marin)
Warriors: dates Elliot, they break up because Wars wants to be the most dramatic one in the relationship. Settles down with Harvey
Twilight: dates Alex, they break up. Then dates Abigail until he finds out Clint likes her and feels bad so they break up. Then dates Emily, they break up. He’s currently choosing who to woo next (it will be Sam or Haley). He loves showering them with gifts

For writing requests, could you write something with Wind and an older sister reader?
Glycerine
Pairing: Wind & Reader
Warning(s): None, just some found-sibling fluff!
Notes: Inspired by "Glycerine" by Bush. This is actually a bit angsty so prepare yourself lol.
Masterlist
Tumblr media
You found Wind on the beach, sitting on the pale sand as his outstretched legs toed the line between surf and sand. It was a beautiful afternoon on Onset; the sun was high, the sky was clear, and tears had no place on the young hero's salt-swept cheeks.
"Wind?" you called, toes scrunching when they met sun-warmed granules, your boots kicked casually onto the grassy bank meters away. "Buddy?"
There was a gasp. The Sailor's shoulders jumped. He whirled to face you, already rubbing beneath his sea-colored eyes with a fist. He said your name, once, and forced a smile that looked entirely too watery for comfort. "H-Hey... I thought you were teaching Aryll how to sew."
You shrugged, taking a seat beside him. A part of you wanted to cringe at the thought of all the sand you would undoubtedly find on yourself when this was over, but a larger, stronger part whispered that it was worth it. For him. "I was, but she's a quick learner, like someone else I know."
Another soft, uncharacteristic smile, nothing like the blinding grins he usually treated you with. The muscles in your jaw ached as they fought to keep a neutrally-friendly expression. "Yeah," said Wind, sneaking unusually pensive glances at the roaring ocean. "Wild's pretty sharp, huh?"
Your brow furrowed. You scooted an inch closer. "I meant you, kid."
This time, he looked at you. This time, he seemed to see you. "I'm sorry," he apologized. A habit, you assumed, though it was wholly unnecessary. Tone heavy with an emotion that had your heart twisting in your chest, he continued: "I've just been... thinking."
Oh dear, it was one of those days. You planted your hands behind you, using them as makeshift anchors to lean back a few inches. A thick, salty breeze swept through the beach, further ruffling Wind's nest of hair. You debated running back to the house to grab a brush, but refrained. "About?"
Silence. You didn't push, but you did watch. Red-rimmed eyes, fidgeting hands, suspicious stains on the sleeves of his tunic. In so many ways, Wind was a fully-fledged adult. He could fight, swear, and scream, but it was always the little things that reminded you just how young he was.
The hero chewed his lip, knees drawing up to his chest. Your eyes flicked to the pants he wore–a gaudy orange that you weren't sure had come from teenage rebellion or a treacherously misguided fashion sense–and immediately settled on a small rip near the right ankle.
"I know Legend's prickly, but he'll help you with those if you ask," you mused, almost to yourself. Wind immediately glanced at his pants, and a heavy breath slipped past his chapped lips. Too sad, too old; something was definitely wrong.
"Oh, wow, I hadn't..."
'Noticed it' went unsaid, so you decided to fill the silence.
"You're only going to miss her more if you stay out here," the words slipped off your tongue like silk, though they could have weighed more than a thousand sparkling suns. Maybe they did, and you were simply used to the reality where hard things were said without a second glance.
"She'll miss me if I go back," said the young, vibrant, effervescent hero in a tone that was so melancholic that you briefly considered calling Time over from the comfort of the home's sleeping area, but the memory of him downing no less than four bottles of Elixer Soup suggested the eldest hero had plans that didn't include comforting whichever boy decided today was the day for a long-awaited existential crisis.
You sighed. You closed the distance, wrapping your arm around Wind's shoulders. They were broader than you remembered, but you'd be damned if you let the fact that he was growing intercede with hug timeTM. It didn't take long for the Sailor to accept his fate, shoulders finally dropping as he exhaled a breath typically observed in divorced men in their forties. You'd have to tell Warriors that one. "It's hylian nature to miss someone," you said; gently, not because he was a child, but because he needed it. "It means she cares. Means you care."
"Does it?" was Wind's response, and you couldn't help the snort that escaped you.
"Of course it does," you paused to let the meaning sink in, then added with a conspiratorial grin: "Didn't anyone tell you not to question your elders?"
Wind's ears perked up, but you couldn't find it in you to regret giving him an in. "Yeesh, I didn't know you were that old."
"Rude, I'm actually like, super young," you huffed, injecting as much faux irritation into your tone to hide the fact that you were secretly rejoicing the spectacular return of his borrowed dad jokes, because, really, one could only spend so much time around Warriors and Time before they too found themselves corrupted. You shifted in the sand, gaze turning to the sun, hovering above the horizon like a firebrand, and a small part of you was glad Twilight was currently consumed with that tile game Four played almost religiously. "It's getting late," you told the Sailor. Softly. Kindly.
Wind's toes curled in the waterlogged granules. A foaming wave washed forward, crashing against the boy's pruning skin. His response was a mere whisper above the roaring surf. "She cried when I left," a sandy-colored head leaned against your arm, soft enough that you could have pretended it wasn't there at all.
"Everyone cries, Link," you reassured him, though the results had yet to be seen. "It's what makes us hylian."
Silence.
You heaved a breath.
"Give your sister a hug, kid."
A pair of arms wrapped around your waist, and The Hero of the Winds began to cry in earnest.
Tumblr media
"How is he?"
You were torn from your thoughts at the sound of Warriors' voice, glancing up at the Captain, who looked just as tired as you felt. His armor was nowhere in sight, leaving him in an off-white button-up and a pair of tan trousers.
A sigh forced itself from your lips, and you finally spared a glance at the sleeping boy on the mat next to you, one of your arms caged in his tight embrace while the other rested on your stomach. It had taken some convincing--and a hell of a lot of luck--to get the youngest hero into bed, and you hadn't the heart to tug yourself away when he latched onto you, face buried in the soft flesh of your bicep.
"Better," was your response, the ghost of a yawn tugging at the heels of your words. "If you couldn't tell, he's had a rough day."
The floor creaked as Warriors got comfortable beside you, keeping a respectful distance as he settled on one arm, gazing down at the both of you. "I'll say," he murmured, quiet enough that you hardly heard it. A pause, then: "You should rest."
This time, you didn't bother stifling your yawn, uncaring of how it might negatively affect your case. "Someone's gotta keep watch, Wars."
The Captain was unimpressed, raising a perfectly manicured eyebrow in obvious disagreement. You were almost jealous. "Yes, me. You're going to have just as rough a day as the Sailor if you don't sleep."
You rolled your eyes, hoping to draw things out as much as possible. You didn't want to leave Wind alone, you couldn't. "Pshh, who needs sleep?"
The floor groaned just as Warriors opened his mouth to offer what you assumed to be a spectacularly-planned rebuttal, only to let it click shut when Time's rumbling baritone filled the small room. Fuck. "What's this about sleep?"
Warriors cerulean eyes found yours, and it was a battle unto itself not to hiss at the smug glint that filled them. He nudged your shoulder, and you went ramrod straight, praying it wasn't enough to disturb Wind. "Just trying to convince a certain someone that insomnia isn't the answer."
That jerk!
"Is that so?" You could practically feel Time's gaze on you. Piercing, all-knowing; like a fucking owl. The floor groaned once more, and you turned your head to watch Time settle on your other side, directly behind Wind. Between him and Warriors, this was turning into a very unnecessary hylian sandwich. "The Captain is correct," said the eldest hero in a tone that sounded like he was laying down a law rather than talking about something as mundane as needing sleep. "Rest. We'll take turns."
"After you drank all that sleepy-time soup? I think not," you shot back, feeling a bit braver than usual. Maybe it was the night, or maybe it was because some twisted part of you wanted to be the only one to protect the youngest hero. "You two need it more than me. It's hard being old."
The Captain sputtered in quiet disbelief. Legend would be proud. "You think I'm old?"
"Actually, the word I meant was 'ancient'–"
"You're so lucky the Sailor's here."
"What're you going to do, lecture me to death–?"
"Quiet, you two," Time interjected, sounding every bit the old man that he was. You resisted the urge to roll your eyes, allowing yourself to fall silent for Wind's sake. Warriors made a huffing sound, but also quieted, shuffling to lean against one of the beams protruding from the wall. "There's no reason for all of us to stay up," ugh, that's why you were doing it for them! The Hero of Time said your name like an errant child, followed by a very punctuated: "Go to sleep."
There was no fighting with Time, you knew. He would win, and you would still be on your back next to the youngest hero whether you wanted it or not. Fucking heroes, always trying to look out for others before themselves, and Hylia knew the boys practically drooled at the prospect.
With a drawn-out sigh that rivaled Wind's in supposed age, you let your head fall against the woven mat, a springy thing that would have coaxed you to sleep hours ago had it not been for the boy clinging to your arm. "Fine," you relented, a mere breath in the inky, candle-shadowed expanse of the room. Eyes shut, but not asleep, you mumbled: "Night, Wars, Time."
Warriors' arm stretched over your stomach, his hand reaching to pat down the hem of Wind's shirt as it stretched up, revealing pearly flashes of the Sailor's skin, warm with sleep and rising with steady breaths, not unlike the gentle rocking of a ship upon the Great Sea's waters. Even after the youngest hero's modesty had once again been preserved, the Captain didn't move his arm, and you suspect its purpose was as much to keep you in place as it was to correct a potential wardrobe malfunction. "You're a jerk," you mumbled in half-hearted exasperation.
The Hero of Warriors' chuckle was loud in your ear. "Takes one to know one."
"Children," said Time from the other end of the sandwich, and you rightfully shut up. Fuck him, you could wield a sword as well as any of the others, which meant you were basically an adult by those criteria alone. Plus, you were dashingly attractive and that had to count for something!
Whatever, dad, you thought with an imaginary eye roll, because the eldest hero practically had eyes on the back of his head. He would know, and you were in no mood for another lecture after the one you received for aiding Wild in his quest to ride animals that were most certainly not meant to be ridden.
Sleep never came easy when you were worried, but something was different. While Warriors wasn't mashing himself to your side like Wind seemed intent of doing, the Captain was no less warm, and it was a battle not to hum when an errant insect brought him scooting closer, the heat from his chest soaking into your other arm. It was becoming increasingly obvious: you were trapped by these lovable dorks, and when Time's miraculously un-armored arm swung over to plant across the three of you, the deal was all but sealed.
Darkness blackened the corners of your vision, and the last thing you saw was Wind's sleep-soaked grin uptick in the candlelight.
Tumblr media
Someone was calling your name.
You cracked your weary eyes open, ears straining to catch the ghostly mumble of your name; a strange, simultaneously booming and whispered call that seemed to ring in the very recesses of your eardrums. A soft groan left your mouth, only for something to slap down on your face.
"Shh, shh, they'll wake up!"
...Huh??
There was something– nay, someone above you. Someone with stormy blue eyes, wavy blonde hair, and–
"Wind?"
Wind grinned at the sound of his name, his teeth glimmering porcelain in the faint candlelight. His hands returned to your shoulders, shaking softly, and you realized you were still in bed, surrounded by the limp, sound-asleep frames of Time and Warriors, the latter of whose arm was still slung tightly around your stomach. "That's me," he whispered, nearly vibrating with excitement. Ominous, but you were here for it. And, as if the Goddesses themselves had heard your plea for answers that weren't complete horseshit, he continued: "I thought of a new game to play! But I need to test it out first."
Ah, right. If anyone liked games, it was Wind, and you were his all-too-gullible partner-in-crime. Only, these types of exchanges usually occurred at respectful hours of the morning or afternoon, prompting another, less exhausted groan from your mouth. "Can't this wait until morning, bud?"
The Sailor paused to consider the conundrum. "I just..." fuck, he was bringing out the wet baby seal eyes. Little bastard knew you didn't stand a chance. "I don't want to forget it..."
As predicted, your resolve crumbled in the face of his patented sad animal eyes. "Okay, okay," you relented, sitting up on your elbows, keeping your tone especially low to keep the adults trapped in their slumber. "But you have to help me get past Wars, yeah?"
"Duh," was his response, and you had no choice but to crack an equally conspiratorial grin as the Sailor helped you lift Warriors' arm up. He held it as you slid free, snagging a stack of blankets from the corner as a decoy.
Until the Captain grunted, expression scrunching as he registered the change in warmth, and your soul nearly burst out of your chest. Gently, shoving Wind to the side, you bent down to whisper in the Captain's ear in your best barmaid sexy voice: "I'll be just a moment, sugar, then we can continue where we left off ;)"
Another grumble left Warriors mouth, but it was significantly softer, and punctuated by a smacking noise as he attempted to kiss the blanket pile, which would have made for spectacular blackmail, if you were being honest. Where was Wild's Shiekah Slate when you needed it?! With the Captain distracted, you slipped around him, linked arms with Wind, and skipped into the pseudo-darkness like the troublemakers you were.
Once outside, you turned to the Sailor. "So! What's up, buttercup?"
"Well..." and thus began Wind's explanation of his latest 'game', which honestly sounded more like an excuse to run around on the beach than something with actual rules, but, once again, you were here for it. Until he got to the part about rolling in the waves in the dark. Especially when he got to the part about rolling in the waves in the dark.
When he was done, you placed your hands on your hips and grinned like the responsible older sibling you totally were. "That sounds super unsafe, so it'll totally be fun!"
Wind's mirroring grin could have outshone the sun, which was especially helpful considering it was nearly pitch black outside. "Right?! I bet we can get Wild to play today, too!"
"Wait, don't you mean tomorrow?"
"Huh? It's totally today; you were asleep for a while."
"...Wind, were you watching me sleep?"
"What? No! That was Time," the Sailor jammed his thumb into his chest, not passing up an opportunity to throw shade on his brothers. "I have manners."
You raised your hands in faux distress. "Ah, my mistake, good sir! My deepest apologies."
"You should be!" There was a roar, and Wind's head instantly whipped to the foaming surf. "Okay, let's go play before Time and Warriors wake up."
"I'd love nothing more," you patted his shoulder, subsequently raising your palm to meet his in a high-five that rang through the beach like a particularly juice ass slap. Not that you knew what one of those sounded like, per se, but with Legend and Warriors' playful rivalry still going strong, you didn't need to.
"Last one to the waves is a crab!" Wind yelled, dashing towards the waves, with you hot on his heels as an answering whoop tore from your throat.
The game without rhyme or rhythm carried well into the night, until the early morning light bathed the crashing ocean and footstep-marred sand, kicked up from hours of play. Your legs ached from running, and you were sure even Sky could have overtaken you in a race at this point, but it didn't matter. You were free, and you were having fun.
"Can't catch me!" Wind screamed in delight when you tried to tag him, dancing just out of reach like the agile little shit that he was, but you had been preparing for this moment your entire life, using the last of your energy to perform a sort of lunging dive, catching him in the stomach and sending the both of you rolling into the shallow waves, coughing and sputtering as you fought to catch your breath, soaked from head-to-toe and damn proud of it.
"You were saying, you slippery munchkin?!" you giggled, nose throat sore from all the saltwater inhaled over the course of the night. The Sailor sorted, reaching into the shallows and flicking a clump of seaweed at your face. You shrieked and dodged spectacularly, but he was ready with another, larger wad that managed to smack against your cheek, effectively sending you into another half-sputter, half-laughing fit as gallons of saltwater soaked the thick fabric of your tunic and trousers.
"Eat weed, loser!"
"Never!"
Your hand sunk into the sand and, before you knew it, a large clump of it was flung in Wind's direction, catching him in the blue-clothed chest.
Wind gasped.
"Oh, it's ON."
The following ten minutes devolved into what could only be described as a sand-ball fight to the death. Sand was thrown, dignity was abandoned, and you were absolutely positive you would be picking granules out of your holes and hair for the next month, but the sound of his laughter was worth every single grain.
It was only when the front door to the house slammed open and a near-frantic Warriors stumbled outside did you pause, sand pouring from your half-cocked hand. "WHERE–" the Captain caught sight of the two of you, covered in dirt and grinning like the maniacs you were, and simultaneously looked like ten years of his life had been spontaneously snatched away. Rumor has it his groan could be heard on the next island over. "–oh, you've got to be kidding me..."
"I'm a crab!" You called over the waves, eager for yet another opportunity to screw with him.
"Actually, you're a–" Warriors paused, placing his hands together like he was about to pray that your stupidity didn't infect him, too. His mouth moved with exhausted desperation: "Calm, Link, calm."
You and Wind exchanged a glance, but it was quickly broken when Time's silhouette filled the doorway, face curiously blank as he surveyed the scene over the defeated captain's shoulder.
A beat passed.
Time turned on his heel. Time went back inside, steps heralded by Warriors' betrayed whimper. You and Wind high-fived.
It wasn't always easy staying positive when it came to life, but with them, you were willing to try.
Tumblr media
Whew! That was a long one! I was super inspired for this, and I hope y'all enjoyed!!
A 'lil extra for y'all:
"Time to get back to bed... sugar," Warriors visibly cringed at your appointed nickname, arms crossed over his chest, and Time looked a hairs-breadth away from smacking his palm to his forehead in exasperation.
You and Wind exchanged a glance that spoke a thousand words. Ignoring the vexed shouts from the older heroes, the Sailor jumped on your back and the two of you sped off into the sunrise, whooping like the madlads you were.

2 Adventure AU (cont.
REFURBISHING AND polishing my 2 adventures AU
If you don’t want to read my last post, (which is fair bc it was mostly rambling), the gist of it is that the LU crew goes on two adventures. The first one occurs while most of the chain is quite young and then years after that adventure ends they all come back together again grown. This applies to everybody BUT Warriors.
For the first adventure most the heroes are really young. Time has just finished the events of Majora’s Mask. Wind has just finished Wind Waker. Four, he’s not even Four yet, just went thru Minish Cap. These three are all around age 11-12.
Hyrule is 13, having been living by himself for a year now after completing the events of Zelda 1. Legend is 16 and has only been home for few months after the events of Link’s Awakening.
Sky and Twilight are both 17, having just finished their respective journeys.
WILD, I owe this completely to the suggestion of @durudurururu, is 16 and has recently been knighted and is starting his fight against the calamity. He has not been through the events of BotW yet.
And Warriors. . . Warriors is a 23 year old, recently appointed captain, who is in the early stages of the war of eras. He has so far not met Mask or Tune yet in his war.
I think the funniest way this would go is that Wars along with Sky, Twilight, Wild, and Legend are pulled together in quick succession and are told somehow by the goddess that there’s a great threat that requires many of her heroes to vanquish.
Wars thinks this will be fine. He isn’t shocked that this is happening, his own era is going through something similar, and working with some teens isn’t bad. He’s already used to leading young knights back home.
Shit hits the fan immediately 😭
Warriors tries to take charge, assuming a leadership position quickly. Sky and Wild are quick to follow him, already quite used to following captains back home, but Legend and Twilight…
Legend, freshly traumatized, has decided that he already hates Warriors and does his best to refute everything he says and generally makes things 100 times more difficult. Legend often tries to do his own thing which pisses of Wars to no end. Wild and Legend develop SEVERE beef right away after Legend’s declaration that “knights ain’t shit.” Sky tried to play mediator until Legend declares that “Hylia is a stank-ass ho” as to which Sky is like: >:(
Wars hopes that Twilight will be reasonable. He tries to tell Twilight to do something he doesn’t want to do one day and his response is to spit in the ground, “not the city slicker telling me what to do.” And struts away.
Wars prays, PRAYS., for the day this adventure is over. His teenage comrades get into more fights with each other than they do with the black blooded monsters they should be. Their hygiene is almost dangerously bad. They REEK. Wars prays for the day he doesn’t get awoken by a petty argument. Three times this week dinner has been interrupted by a PHYSICAL altercation between from two to ALL of the boys.
When Sky says the goddess told him more heroes will be joining them, Wars prays that they will be older and wiser. When he’s met with a gang of child soldiers he decides that Hylia must be dead and gone because this has to be the work of demise.
Two of them are non verbal. The masked one makes some attempt to sign, but the young, skittish teenager makes absolutely 0 effort to even try or even indicate that he’s listening to Wars. Wars is convinced that both of are feral. Were they raised in the woods?? In a cave?
One is a self proclaimed pirate. Wars is ashamed in the others that the person who tries hardest to actually listen to him is the 12 year old actual criminal who starts struggling with alcohol withdrawal a week into the journey.
Baby Four is basically the version of himself at the beginning of the 4 sword manga. A huge ego as he’s a budding knight. He listens to Wars less than Legend does.
Miraculously they manage to survive, not even the journey but each other. Things got a little easier.
Legend takes responsibility for Hyrule after the chain discovers he’s not in fact non-verbal BUT Hylian is not his native language. He speaks Calatian and Legend the resident polyglot takes to teaching him Hylian.
Wars is shocked when Wild and Twilight become buddies. He has no clue when that happened. Wild is unsettlingly quiet and too well behaved at the best of times while Wars has to bribe Twilight to bathe sometimes.
Four looks up to Sky after he learns that he’s a god slayer and starts listening to him in proxy of Wars.
Wars finds himself with two shadows, Time and Wind.
Their mission comes to a close and Wars finds that he’s dearly going to miss all of his little brothers despite the stress they put him through. He’s prematurely greying now.
He returns to his own war, reunited with Time and Wind, each a smidge older. After two more years, the war is over and Wars once more says goodbye. The day after the war is declared over, Wars is pulled back by the goddess into a journey across time once again. Apparently there’s some unfinished business from last time.
Wars is SO stressed. He’s not at all ready to go back to being the single father/Fiona Gallagher to 8 traumatized children again. He barely, BARELY, survived last time.
Somehow what he finds is much worse 😭
All of Wars’ journey including the one he went on with the chain, occurred over 3 years for him. He’s now 25. So why… WHY is everyone else so much older????
Baby Mask and the Minish hero are so much older. Time must be pushing 40 and Four is easily 5 years older than Wars.
Twilight, Sky, and Legend are all in their mid to late 20s. Twilight is courting a nice young woman, Legend is engaged, and Sky is MARRIED. With kids.
Wild, what happened to that guy???, is nothing like the quiet, unsettling, lad he was before. He’s in his early 20s and well. More Wild than ever. He also doesn’t remember or barely recalls anybody.
Hyrule, shy, skittish, feral, Hyrule is also now in his early 20s and is almost outgoing. He speaks clearly and magic unlike anything Wars has ever felt before seems to come from his very being.
Wind is finally of legal drinking age and is shockingly similar to before except now he claims to be able to see dead people.
The first thing everyone does is treat Warriors to a drink while he processes.

Wind got no armor (plot wise or else way )
Fanfic prompt:
I like to think that the hero spirit is essentially plot armor for the links
Which is why nobody in the chain is getting the fantasy rabies called black blood
Seen as twilight somehow miraculously survived
Except wind doesn’t have the hero spirit
And is a child as well
He tiny
He has no armor
This combination would be horrendous
Lil guy has no plot armor whatsoever
One injury in general proximity to black blooded monsters and he just evaporates out of existence
Like he already acts like a rabid child
This might as well happen to get literally
While time and warriors are freaking out about the fact that wind probably will die without ever going to the war of eras
And wind just :
Tumblr media
Like him just leaving his mortal body
But instead of being depressed about it he just joins the group of ghosts already present
And they couldn’t tell he was dead for several months because he was just so casual about it
Like champions at the very least acted like it bothered them that Wild has to fight while they are just being ghosts
Marin and shadow are abstract concepts
Legend's uncle introduced himself as having died
And he never acted differently from when he was alive how would they know
And nobody could truly tell if he was just being wind and stealing the captain’s belongings or pranking the chain or straight up haunting them like he was playing into the stereotype
The chain wasn’t happy about it

Lately I've been feeling bad and feel like I'm going to hurt myself again. I want to know how you think yan Chain would react to a reader self-harming, I just need a little comfort :b
Hey there sweetpea , thank you for trusting me with your feelings. I’ll do my best to bring you a smile!
So, how I think the Chain would react?
Hmm
Well:
TIME wouldn’t let anything slip past his notice. The moment he saw evidence of self-harm, his almost deceptively calm tone would freeze them in place. ‘What have you done to yourself?’
Time would try to keep things calm around Reader.
He wouldn’t demand answers right away, they’d definitely be startled at being caught, he’d let them. come to him.
He’d tell them that when they were doing stoped then and there, like He says it softly, but his tone leaves no room for argument.
Whether it’s his hand resting gently on Reader’s shoulder or sitting quietly in the same room, he’d make sure they know they’re not alone.
he’d kneel in front of Reader, take their hands gently, and assure them that he’s here to stay, no matter what.
He’d quietly remind them that pain is temporary and that leaning on him, on them, is okay.
-
For WIND?
He’d immediately want to take charge, pulling Reader into a tight hug and whispering assurances and how Reader should have to feel so miserable as to want to do that.
He’d go out of his way to cheer them up, his antics sometimes over tha top but always sincere and concerned. Whether it’s telling stories, cracking jokes, or planning little adventures away from the group when they want space, he’d do whatever it takes to see Reader happy again. Cause beneath his playful actions, he’s deeply worried about them.
His yandere tendencies might slip through in how much he needs to see Reader happy. If they seem down, he won’t rest until he’s made them smile again, even if it means going overboard.
WARRIORS would mask his worry with charm, trying to keep things, ya know, happy and casual and upbeat to take Reader’s mind off their pain. But his concern would show in the way he watches them, his sharp eyes never missing a thing.
He’d focus on removing anything harmful from their reach while reassuring them that he wasn’t upset, just…worried (and hurt, and scared of the possibilities if he hadn’t caught them)
He’d start to insist on walking them everyone when the others arent around, pulling them close if he senses any danger, even if it’s just his overactive imagination.
He’d be a bit more touchy…holding their hand more, patting their shoulders and head, it’s all casual but it remains him they’re still ok.
——
FOUR would likely notice the signs before anyone else, his observant nature catching even the smallest details. He’d approach Reader cautiously, his voice soft as he asked if tehy were okay.
He’d of course, would be devastated but wouldn’t show it outwardly. Instead, he’d focus on what he could do to help, his hands steady as he tended to their wounds if they had any.
His colors would react differently. All equally worried, all equally wanting to comfort Reader. Maybe they accidentally overwhelm them and after that little mistake they take turns spending time with Reader.
Red wouod make flower chains with Reader.
Green would take them on walks.
Vio and surprisingly Blue, would have quiet moments. The two would just hang around while Reader did their own thing. (Kinda like how cats hang around each other without bothering one another? Like that!)
They’d definitely channel theur emotions into creating something for Reader, maybe a charm, a piece of jewelry? something tangible to remind Readee of their worth. His actions would speak louder than words.
Four when whole would keep close, offering quiet but unwavering support. If Reader needed a distraction, he’d work on a small project beside them, his presence a quiet reminder that they’renot alone.
——-
TWILIGHT would be devastated but wouldn’t show it outwardly. He’d, after making sure they won’t bolt in fear, immediately scoop Reader up in his arms, holding them tightly as if that alone could shield them from harm.
He’d be both heartbroken and angry, at himself for not protecting them better and at the world for making them feel this way.
Reader would feel like Twi’s entire world revolves around keeping them safe, even if it means following them everywhere (on two legs or four) or sleeping by their door at night. (Though if them want him in the room so they can snuggle, he definitely wouldn’t decline)
———
WILD wouldn’t say anything at first, his eyes taking in every detail. He’d carefully tend to their wounds with a mix of gentleness and…I’m gonna say delicate-ness? It’s just very careful. his hands steady even as his emotions were all over the place beneath the surface. his expression unreadable as he took the time to process what was happening. Then he’d gently pull Reader into a very gentle hug, his arms trembling slightly.
He’s become even more protective, Reader would catch him watching them constantly, his eyes always scanning for any signs of distress.
He’d channel his guilt into action, He’ll “accidentally” leave little gifts for them, freshly cooked meals, rare ingredients, trinkets he scavenged. and staying by Reader’s side as much as he could.
———-
LEGEND might not know the right words to say at first, he’s probably really caught off guard at what he catches sight of. But when Reader is looking at him in fear and trying to hide the evidence of what they’ve done, his actions would speak volumes. He’d take charge, patching up any wounds with gentle hands.
(He’d pretend his hands weren’t shaking, taht they weren’t betraying how deeply affected he truly was.)
He’d keep them company, even if he isn’t sitting right next to Reader, he’d be within their view. He’d take their hand and guide them away if he noticed them stressing out. He’d tell them stories of his adventures, small things that would bring a fragile smile on Reader’s face. And even if it isn’t bring a smile, it’d give them something to focus on. Something to ground them as them calm down.
And when Reader is calm and relaxed, he’d sit close and quietly admit how much he cares, how much Reader’s mere presence is worth to him and his life.
————
SKY would react with a mix of sadness and internal fury, fury at himself for not noticing sooner. He’d gently take their hands in his, brushing over any scars or fresh wounds, his voice trembling as he tells Reader it’s going to be alright.
He’s…not familiar with someone who has gone through this. If there was anyone like that in Skyloft, well…he never caught wind of it. So he’s very very terrified by this.
He’d be sleeping next to Reader that night…tho I doubt he’s sleep, probably watching how their chest rises and falls, scared that the rhythm would suddenly stop if he looked away.
Sky would be endlessly patient once he gathers himself, his warm, gentleness would be a constant source of comfort. He’d sit beside Reader, holding their hand if they let him, and quietly let them know it’s okay to feel whatever they are feeling.
He’d shower them with small, tender gestures, braiding their hair if it’s long, bringing them flowers, or playing his harp softly to them.
Sky might slip up by being overly protective, like insisting they stay close to him at all times. But he’d easily back off (for a little while at least) when Reader brings it up. Just wanting them comfortable and happy.
————-
HYRULE would be devastated.
He’d immediately try to take care of them, healing magic at the ready to heal any wounds. Gentle but practically pleading in a trembling voice if there are any other injuries he should know about.
He’d apologize frequently if Reader shows any signs of pain. He’d hold their hands afterwards, thumbs on their wrists, most likely focusing on the warmth and pulse beneath.
He tries not to hover, but it’s hard not to when his every instinct tells him to protect them.
If Reader ever tries brushes off his concerns to ask him not to worry, he’d..well not accept that.
“Don’t…don’t…lie to me. Please…even if you want me away from you for the moment, I’d rather you be honest…I just want to help.”
Hyrule would shower them with affection, his actions almost frantic as he tried to show them how much they mean to him. But he’s also holding back, scare he’ll push them away when they are already fragile in a way his magic can’t heal.
He wants them better, but he knows how terrible the fight against one’s mind can be. All he can do is be there by Reader’s side.
—————
Reader might not even notice at first, but slowly, anything that could be used to hurt themselves would disappear or get replaced with safer alternatives.
Legend quietly pockets sharp objects or anything suspicious without mentioning it. Four might ‘ upgrade’ certain tools so that they’re less dangerous (and not tell them why).
They are gonna be very focused on limiting access to anything harmless they’re trying not to make Reader feel like their autonomy’s being stripped.
They know nights are hard, so Reader would often find one or two of them staying up a bit later, coincidentally near wherever they’re sleeping.
Twilight might claim he’s just reading by the fire, while Warriors hovers at the edge of camp, but both keep an ear out for any sign of distress.
If Reader wakes up from a nightmare or dark thoughts, they’re immediately there, offering water, a blanket, or just a quiet ear.
They’ll all be aware that sometimes Reader’s thoughts get dark. So they plan little distractions, Wind invites you for a short stroll, Hyrule shares a story from his travels, or Wild asks for help with cooking or someone to tag along as he wanders around (if they’re up for it).
If Reader ever express guilt for worrying them, they instantly (almost too quickly) jump in with reassurance. Because guilt is a slippery slope that keeping spiraling down with great difficulty getting out of it.
They actively hold back on their more intense behaviors. Time wants to command Reader to stay put, but he softens his tone. Warriors wants to lecture them into next week, but he bites his tongue. Twilight’s instincts scream to keep them locked away safe, but he chooses to give them space.
Each hero attempts to give Reader breathing room, but they also catch themselves hovering, exchanging quick looks when Reader moves out of sight
They want Reader to feel cherished, protected, and above all, happy and alive. So they’ll do everything they can to accommodate and accomplish that.

Draft Drabbles (silly) from the Pronouns Chain Fic
"Pronouns?" Twilight asks, Twilight's brows furrowed and expression pinched. "Uhm...no thanks."
"What?" Legend asks flatly, a distinct line of tension running through hir.
"It's just--I'd rather not, you know?" Twilight explains.
"You'd rather not…have pronouns?"
Wild whoops from its perch in the tree. "Based."
"What does that even mean?" Four mutters under his breath, and Time pats him on the shoulder consolingly.
Twilight just nods sagely at Wild. "I do try."
