The one, the only... Lt. Croy <3
What a freaking scene-stealer this one. We were really not expecting to board the Halcyon and immediately fall in love with a First Order officer and all start regretting our decisions to support the Resistance. Next cruise (and there WILL be a next cruise) I’m ABSOLUTELY going to try to do the First Order questline, as... morally... as I can? We’ll see, I guess lol

Yessssss! I think most of us fic writers are on the same page as you with Croy for sure (especially that Croy in particular, whose more complicated nuance is notable).
I know you've read it, but that's definitely where I was headed with my fic, especially when the first chapter was supposed to be all I was writing. Just the seeds of "What ifs" for others to imagine, which honestly means people can still be totally fine reading only my first chapter and stopping there, letting their own minds wander to the possibilities. (It's just that my own "What ifs" became "No I really wanna figure out where my version of the story goes" and I just kept on going until it spiralled. 😅)
'A Little Less Lonely Together' is here, for anyone interested in even just a first chapter that sets the stage for one's own multiverse. What you do after that is up to you. I'm now over here writing hundreds of pages for the random ocs that were born of this. 😎👍

It's been one year since I visited a galaxy far, far away at the Galactic Starcruiser and today I bring you a NEW episode of Endless Anakin! Inspired by the song “Ready As I’ll Ever Be” from Tangled: the Series, my love of a multiverse, and my boyfriend, Lt. Harman Croy.
Note: I am posting this on the anniversary of my voyage, but the episode was recorded before the Starcruiser was discontinued. I am truly sad more of us will not get to have the experience.

Well I admit this tribute is long overdue. However, after talking to the supreme leader, I finally completed it with the utmost persuasion. That's why I'm happy to introduce you to #Lieutenant #Harmancroy. By far the best officer of the order!

One of the hilarious interactions I haven’t seen shared a whole lot of in researching the Disney Starcruiser experience. This character actor is so impressive… I just thought it needed sharing. I was also wondering why there are so many intrigued by his performances ( other than the fact that he’s just an amazing performer) and I kind of felt that if anyone is a Hux Stan (like myself), we sort of get so much more of Lt Croy than we got of Hux in the movies. Yeah think that’s my excuse. He’s sort of the Hux from the very beginning of TLJ except the very extended version lol. Ugh haven’t even gone on this adventure and already ship Lt Croy and Gaya. That being said… i wasn’t a fan of their sudden change in Hux’s characterization… but I can still admit it was humorous.

A detailed analysis of Sammie and Croy
By Layla
Analysis begins under the cut
The Star Wars hotel known as the Galactic Starcruiser and in-universe as the Halcyon Starcruiser, is home to many rich characters and an intricate storyline. Sammie and Croy are my two favorite characters on the Halcyon. I love them both individually for various reasons, which I will explain in this mini essay. My main goal, however, is to acknowledge their dynamic and the potential that they have together.
To explain their dynamic and its potential, I must first acknowledge their individual attributes.
Here you have Samuel, known as Sammie, who is, symbolically, a Golden Retriever: doe-eyed, eager to please, and easy to manipulate. A kicked puppy who was given a loving home and is intent on pleasing everyone by doing his job the best that he can. Sammie is a wrench turner from Corellia who witnessed the First Order take over some of the shipyards on his home planet. This event struck a chord in him. He realized that he wanted to do something about the civil unrest in the galaxy and managed to escape narrowly with his life. Thanks to some carefully revised ship records, Sammie was cleared as a member of the Halcyon crew as a cover story. Truthfully, he was just catching a ride to Batuu so that he could formally join the Resistance. He comes from a bad situation and suffered at the hands of a dictatorship. His motives are pure, but he is young and impressionable. He puts so much pressure on himself to prove his worth to his found family even though they make him feel welcome all the time. He dreams of doing big things but does not see himself as worthy of doing such things until he grows to accept that he is, for lack of a better term, a good boy (pun intended). He has the classic hero’s journey arc, but in looking deeper into his character, one might realize that he is not as pure of heart as he seems.
His insecurities have the potential to be self-destructive. His vulnerability could be used against him and his naiveness might lead to him being swayed in the wrong direction. Throughout his journey, while being pure of heart and seemingly innocent, he finds himself being the First Order’s lap dog (unintentional pun) and doing things that he does not want to do. Though Sammie seems innocent, one might begin to wonder where his true loyalties lie, as he is often unsure of himself and seems to be nervous when spoken to, almost like he is hiding something. Much like a Golden Retriever, he is extremely protective and affectionate, sometimes to his detriment. He is very emotional and his past haunts him, which could be used against him. His big dreams seem out of his reach and, though he is treated like family by the Halcyon crew and the Resistance, he is often left out because he is young, jittery, and inexperienced. After revealing himself as a Stormtrooper and saving the Halcyon from the First Order, he asks if he can put the ship into hyperspace. Even after all that Sammie has done to help, the captain Riyola Keevan tells him that she needs someone with more experience to do so, which visibly saddens him. He has strong feelings for Jedi Knight and Resistance hero Rey Skywalker, and though they have a connection, it is unclear whether they actually end up together or not, and judging by the sequel trilogy, it is quite possible that she never even gives him a single thought after she leaves the Halcyon despite all that he did to help her. He clearly has a lot of emotions that he is repressing. If he finds himself manipulated to an extreme, he has the potential to do a complete turn-around and become the very person who he sought to fight against.
On the flip side, there is Harman Croy, known to most everyone as Croy, who is, symbolically, a Chihuahua: small, snappy, crude and intimidating on the surface, and a nuisance trying to stir trouble. He runs around, barking at people and trying to make sure that he gets his way no matter what. He seems to have a one-track mind, and that is to wipe out “Resistance scum” as he calls the rebels, so that he can rise the ranks in superiority in the First Order. He is everyone’s enemy and everyone who does not obey him is an enemy to him. He uses his friendliness as a way to gain trust and becomes upset when someone crosses him. However, this seemingly cruel man is not quite as ruthless as he wants everyone to think.
He has feelings. Feelings that he tries to hide, though they are blatantly obvious. He is good with children, he has romantic feelings for the superstar Resistance ally Gaya, and he is reasonable when it comes to punishment. He will speak to people before blatantly accusing them of something and will even join in on a little Resistance fun when he is supposed to be doing chores for the First Order. He is also loyal to his troops and cares about the people who he works with. He knows that Gaya is involved with the Resistance and he never rats her out. He is terrified of trying longfruit for the first time because the First Order does not have such delicacies, but after he tries it and loves it, he declares that everyone on the ship shall have longfruit because no one deserves to miss out on such a delicious treat. His “ruthlessness” is in fact not ruthlessness at all. Rather, it is a wall of protection that he has built for himself as a result of manipulation from the First Order. It does not take much to break down these walls. When the First Order’s Supreme Leader Kylo Ren orders Croy to tell his troops to fire on the Halcyon’s passengers, Croy is visibly conflicted. Even Riyola herself blatantly acknowledges this when she cries, “Lieutenant! You are NOT a monster!”
Croy, however, reluctantly goes through with this before being thwarted by Sammie, who is clearly pleased to get some payback and is more than happy to lead Croy out of the Halcyon at gunpoint. This is where things get interesting. Throughout the entire journey, Croy has barked orders at Sammie, forced him to do things, degraded him, and manipulated him, and Sammie has been forced to cooperate. Now, the roles are reversed, and Sammie is all too happy about it. Of course, Sammie is doing a good thing, and we are meant to root for him because he is the underdog. We are meant to be happy that he is giving Croy a taste of his own medicine. We are meant to be satisfied at seeing Croy so helpless. We are meant to sneer when Croy is forced to report to Kylo that the Halcyon is clear of threats while Croy is being held at gunpoint. Of course, we are meant to cheer for Sammie when Rey declares that he is part of the Resistance, and we do.
But what, you might be wondering, happens after the journey? What happens after the Halcyon’s passengers are transported back to their home planets?
One source claimed that they spotted Croy escaping from custody and giggling with glee as he ran away. It is quite possible that the First Order still has some power after the Halcyon docks. After the journey, all of the passengers receive pamphlets that thank them for choosing the Halcyon as their mode of transportation. The pamphlets offer job opportunities for people who wish to be in the Resistance and continue to help its cause. This is not surprising. What is surprising, however, is the fact that the pamphlets also offer job opportunities for people who wish to pursue a career in the First Order. The Halcyon storyline takes place in between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, which gives plenty of room for character development, especially if the story continues after The Rise of Skywalker. There are many possibilities and different directions for the story to go if it continues.
The dynamic between Sammie and Croy is perhaps the most interesting dynamic in the story and it is rarely touched upon. They are polar opposites, yet they have so much in common because they are both underdogs and heroes in their own right. They are both eager to prove themselves to their respective crew members, they both have big ambitions, and they both have feelings for women who are out of their leagues. If the story continues, their dynamic has the potential to go in three different directions: they will become sworn enemies, they will work their way up to becoming best friends, or they will come to a mutual understanding and never speak to each other again.
I will write a short story that takes place right after Croy is arrested and Sammie is inducted into the Resistance. It will pick up right where the passengers saw Sammie and Croy leave off before they left the Halcyon. For now, I leave you with this.

The hearts 💕💕💕 (is he thinking of Gaya? Probably). I love this so much!!!! Another amazing piece of art, @twofoxes!
Yes, he absolutely commands whatever room he’s in. When I was in my cabin making a costume change, I could literally hear him shouting. The door was closed. Our cabin was on the floor between the Atrium and Crown of Corellia 😂
Not that I’m biased 😌, but if you want to try First Order the next time, you absolutely should. It was a lot of fun, ngl. And I personally found it less overwhelming than the Resistance track. It was just the right pace (I did a lot of the Scoundrel path as well and there was room for both, so yay!).
There are a lot of ways you can play FO without going into it already being a villain. You could always be recruited on ship (like me lol) or serve as a double agent (are you really working for the FO? Maybe not 😉). But yeah, my advice is to make whatever character you want for your next cruise, but think about how they might be even temporarily swayed to help out Croy rather than the Resistance.
My character had a specific reason why she helped Croy, but she also just thought he was Real Neat so it made helping him out that much easier 😂 Charisma is a thing.
